playing through all the choice of games with Eva is so fun bc she's got no sense of morality and just follows which side gets her more attention bc of Mentol Illinois (plus imprinting on the Loudest Person In The Room) and it’s extremely funny to throw her at interactive fiction games and have them try and like. Even slightly process that. Bc why would they account for the very niche scenario of someone playing as an attention seeking brat with trauma who loves murder. and also one who will romantically pursue like, the exact opposite of that. you get fucking hilarious results 10/10 would recommend.

Summary: Your girlfriend Tara gets a little clingy when she realizes you haven't kissed her properly in days.

Content: cursing, fluff, kisses, cuddles, tara being a sad pup, college routine kicking everybody's asses, core four as a family.

Note: First time writing for Tara! Pure fluff cause I’m starting on a new job this week and needed comfort.

It's been four days straight since you last kissed Tara.

Not that she was counting, she really wasn't, but now, after an extremely long and tiring day of exams and more exams, it seemed impossible not to feel your absence next to her. The feeling of neediness and loneliness hits her hard when she realizes how long it's been since you two have been together.

Four days. Four whole days of no holding hands or playing with her hair, no hugs, no cuddles and definitely no kisses. Be it on the forehead, the cheek, the shoulders, the hands, or on the lips. Nothing. It's like the universe just decided one day 'nuh-uh, no kisses for Tara Carpenter' and boy that was unfair.

The last time you kissed her – actually kissed her – was on Monday morning, at the beginning of that hellish week, when she woke up too early with the sunlight escaping through a crack in the curtains bothering her eyes, with her whole body completely curled up on top of yours. One of the best ways to wake up, really. The same thing happened to you a short time later, because as much as Tara loves being in your arms, she also can't help but feel restless when she's awake and move a lot, but the way she lights up when you sleepy mumble a good morning to her doesn't make you able to be upset with her for that.

You gave her a slow, lazy kiss, still with that warm aura of sleep remaining.

It was the most she could enjoy of your company before you had to leave in a hurry to escape the scolding Sam would give you both for spending the night having class the next day – even though, you know, you're college students and adults – and get to your own dorm to be ready in time for your first class in the morning.

She would have braved the scolding and made you stay a little longer if she had remembered that exam season was about to start. Unfortunately, this only occurred to her when she had her first taste of it later that day.

See, that was perhaps the thing Tara hated most about her new life as a student in New York: the way the change in routine could easily overwhelm her, and how that made it even worse because you couldn't be around as much as she wanted you to.

You were a year ahead of her and your courses were different, so you didn't have any classes together and your paths barely crossed during the day, which meant the only times she got to see you were on quick runs across campus, barely having time to exclaim a 'hi baby!' before disappearing with stacks of books and notebooks in your arms.

Sure, you exchanged a lot of messages, but it wasn't the same as having a warm body next to her in bed or on the couch. You couldn't even come to the apartment after everything because she was also too tired from her own work to hangout after it.

But Friday had finally arrived and she had enough time to wallow in self-pity until everyone got home. Checking the patterned wall clock that her sister bought when they moved in, Tara realizes that it's already past five pm and the sound of the door opening is the sign that her family has started to come in. She buries her head in the pile of cushions, ignoring the throbbing pain in her temples.

“Ugh, finally." Mindy plops down next to Tara on the other side of the couch, clasping her hands above her head to stretch, “What is this? Why is there a sad, miserable gremlin on our couch?”

She hears Chad's loud laugh coming from the kitchen but can only mutter a 'fuck you' muffled by the cushions she's sunk into, feeling a tap on her calf in response.

Tara wasn't going to put up with any mockery now, not when she was so tired and sleepy and missing you. She would do the same thing she had done the last few days: take a hot shower without giving a shit to Quinn's protests about using all the water, hug Sam when she got home from work in 45 minutes, and accept the offer of a snack when her sister ask if she had already eaten, then she would go to her room, throw herself on the bed and text you goodnight, before completely blacking out until the next day, when she could finally have you all to herself for the entire weekend – and for the rest of the week too. The worst part is over, so screw it, you guys could afford to miss some classes.

“Are you just gonna lay there and give up on existence, lil dude?” Mindy starts again, interrupting the peaceful and only partly distressing silence Tara had settled into as she builds up the strength to stand up.

“Will you shut the hell up?” She bites, grabbing one of the cushions and hitting her friend in the face, “You’re not funny and my head hurt as fuck.”

“Jesus, okay, okay!” Mindy waves her arms in defeat and stands up, “I won’t say anything else then.”

"Great."

“I’m not gonna say–” She takes on a teasing tone, “–that Anika thought that a certain someone was really upset and buried in books all that time in their dorm and that it would be better if they came straight here after class to take a break, but I’m not gonna tell you that.”

"What?" Tara’s expression immediately brightened, “You’re serious? What you–"

“Well, I told my girlfriend to bring your girlfriend. But it's okay, I'm not gonna say any of that.”

Mindy looked extremely smug but Tara chose to spare her another hit in the face for the sake of the information she just received. She lights up and jumps off the couch in a flash, rushing to shower and get ready now that she has a good reason. She hears Chad shouting from the kitchen:

“Girl, I thought you were tired!”

“Right?” Mindy laughs, “Wednesday’s at that age when a girl has only one thing on her mind, Chad.”

This makes her stop: “I don’t look like her!”

She slams the door shut when she hears their laughter increase in response.

If someone asked Tara if it was true that she sat on the side of the sofa closest to the door so she could see the exact moment you arrived, she would vehemently deny it – even though that's exactly what she did – and she would also deny that she deflated a little when the first person to arrive after the twins was Sam with a pizza box in one hand and covering a big yawn with the other.

You and Anika only arrive almost half an hour after Sam, finding Tara already watching you with doe eyes. Your haggard face immediately breaks into a smile, lines of fatigue crinkling in the corners of your eyes.

“There you are, dear,” you cross the room towards her and Tara leans in, even before you touch her, practically purring at the soft kiss you leave on her forehead, “I missed you.”

She melts when you wrap your arms around her, burying her head in your chest, but that's it. A kiss on the forehead and a hug and then you're pulling away again because you and Anika have brought more food that should be placed on the kitchen counter.

It only took this small moment of you going back and forth for everything to come back to Tara with full force. You didn't kiss her.

It's stupid, it's irrational, but her eyes fill with tears even though she can clearly see you from behind, unpacking the groceries and talking to your friends there.

Tara tried to just sit and wait for you to come back as soon as you were done, but patience was never her thing.

“Hm?” You hum when you feel a tug on your hodie's sleeve, looking back to find Tara with a tearful, frustrated expression.

“I had a really long day,” she begins, not quite sure how to ask for what she wants, eyes focused on the floor, “Will you come stay with me?”

Your heart races and your voice immediately softens: “Of course, sweetheart.”

Tara wastes no time in dragging you to her room by your wrist and you can't even react to the warning look Sam throws you over her shoulder.

She perches on your lap the second you sit down on the bed, sighing in relief as she buries her face in your shoulder.

You rest your chin on her head, “Did somethin’ happen?”

“I’m gonna quit college." She moans in defeat against your neck.

You huff a giggle into her hair, “Same, baby.”

Tara pulls away just enough to look at you and the pure love and tenderness in your eyes is more than enough to make the tears come back.

“What? What is it?" You straighten up, worried, tightening your arms around her.

“You haven’t kissed me in four days.”

She blurts out, voice cracking and strangled and you stop.

“Four days?”

Tara nods, “Except for the one on the forehead, you haven’t really kissed me in four days and like, several hours.”

“Oh.”

“Oh?” She frowned. Shit, now she was getting mad at you, “Oh?”

You rush to take her mind off it, pressing a kiss to her lips in which she immediately melts with a soundly sigh of relief.

“I’m so sorry, baby,” you murmur between small pecks distributed on her lips, “I was so caught up in everything that I didn’t even notice.”

Tara still seemed a little upset by your response, but you kissed her again, bringing a hand to her jaw to deepen, feeling your girlfriend's arms entwined around your neck.

When you pull apart this time, you're both out of breath and Tara's face is covered in a soft red glow. You gently draw patterns with your fingers on her hips and lean in, leaving a kiss on her warm cheek.

“I’m sorry, Tar,” you echo, looking deep in her eyes “I’ve missed you so much. How can I make it up to you?”

She pretends to think for a moment, averting her eyes to hide the shiver that runs through her body.

“It's been four days,” she huffs with more annoyance than she actually feels, “I'm a girl who has abandonment issues, you know, it's your obligation to kiss me every day from now on.”

“Noted,” you smile.

“But…” She starts with a mischievous smile, “You could also make me feel better by watching The Babadook with me.”

“No, no, Tara!” You whine, “The noises of that movie freak me out!”

“Oh, I know,” your girlfriend says, blinking innocently, “But I want to do something with you, it's been so long since we watched something together alone and I love you so much.”

"I love you too." You respond instantly.

It only takes a look at those doe eyes and you lose the battle immediately and Tara looks victorious. She knows the power she has over you, the adorable little shit.

She leaves your lap just enough time to pick up the laptop on the table and returns to her place, you pull her back and lie down on the pillows, dragging her against your chest, pulling a blanket from the corner of the bed to cover you both.

“Tests are over,” you say, burying your face in her neck as the movie scene darkens, “The next few weeks are ours now. Just ours.”

Tara giggles when you startle again, sinking further against your body, smelling the hodie you were wearing, the one she got you for your birthday.

“Ours,” she says, “I like how that sounds.”

Tara tries to stay awake as long as possible, even after you fall asleep with your face buried in her neck. She's almost asleep when Sam quietly opens the door, a plate of pizza in hand and an eyebrow raised. The silent question of ‘can she stay the night please?’ is just a formality.

There's no way you're getting out of her league anytime soon.

Also wanted to be a wife growing up, but the stay-at-home life is clearly not for her.

She'll try it for a period of time after your wedding or union, but she's far too restless for cooking and cleaning.

You supposed that she thought it would be relaxing and aesthetic, but if anything, she's getting frustrated and throwing the potato across the kitchen as soon as it slips out of her hand.

Ino will eventually find important work to do, come home to complain about it over dinner, and buy you something nice in a half-brag about how much more money she's making.

This is, of course, not to say she's bad at housework or doesn't do her share. She's perfectly good at domestic work and does the bulk of it, but the moment you expect it from her is the moment she stops.

𓆃 Kiba

A slob who, if allowed, will live in heaps of trash.

For the bulk of his 20s, he'll be super unsure of the whole settling down thing. You could make a whole bingo chart out of the cliche bachelor lines he spouts.

I'm not really a marriage kinda guy. I don't wanna tie myself down to a ball and chain. I just wanna meet people. I'm looking for someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously. Nah, I'm not looking for a relationship.

That is... until one day he wakes up and desperately wants a family of his own. To an extreme extent. Like his expectations are absolutely insane.

As a husband, you'll need to reevaluate those and have a nice long chat because at the beginning of your relationship he will certainly not be pulling his weight.

𓆃 Lee

Sweet, clingy, loving and sincere man.

Ah, you are the sun, the moon, and the world to Lee. He is constantly thinking of or doing the sweetest possible thing he possibly could for you at any given hour of the day.

Is his execution great? You'd give it a 50/50. Does he ever take a break? NO.

Whether it's breakfast in bed or going on a grocery run to get it off your plate, you're sure to have to put out one fire and learn how to use 20 carrots in your meal prep for the week.

He really tries his best, he just gets a little excited.

𓆃 Naruto

Another slob, although well intended.

Naruto never had a formal family growing up, and so he has little ideas of what's expected.

Much of his idea of what a partnership should be comes from media or stupid things that Shikamaru probably told him on the playground growing up, so you'll have to work together as a team to set expectations.

A lot of what he does for you is in his language (you have to learn that him making you both ramen cups is indeed a romantic gesture for him), but he loves exploring things that you like!

Naruto explores your likes and hobbies in a very genuine and non-performative way. Sharing things you enjoy together will be the foundation of your relationship.

𓆃 Neji

You'll spend your first year of marriage focused heavily on strict boundaries, expectations, and other couples work.

The way Neji was brought up completely fractured his sense of family. Not to mention, no matter what you're like Neji will certainly have to fight with his family in a silent battle over clan politics.

Because even though the Hyuga clan has stopped certain practices, doesn't mean that everyone in the clan is in mutual agreement or share similar attitudes with each other.

This will be a marriage built on structure and meaningful confrontation. Neji is determined to break the cycles of his family to make a healthy life with you.

𓆃 Sakura

Wasn't sure if she'd end up with a partner. She really wanted it, but with everything that happened in her life, she had her doubts.

Most definitely too hard on herself. Sakura pushes herself to almost fall over you to ensure you're pleased. Whether it's housework or cooking, there's a part of her that feels the need to prove her work ethic.

It's the small things with Sakura. Even after a long day at work, she'll still bring you your favorite home for dinner, even if the place is out of the way. She'll stay up an hour later to spend time with you even if she has an early morning.

𓆃 Sasuke

An ironic mix between Naruto and Sakura.

As a kid, Sasuke 100% wanted to be a husband when he grew up. 100% wanted to have a spouse to provide for and had similar dreams that some kids often do when they think about families.

But after the Uchiha Tragedy, much of Sasuke's outlook about his future has been skewed. Any relationship will start off as rather unstable and you can almost count on Sasuke being emotionally distant

It's about how the two of you work through his baggage and his willingness to be vulnerable.

𓆃 Shikamaru

Surprisingly well-adjusted?

He knows how to do basic life skills. Pulls his weight and sometimes even does your tasks. Shikamaru is generally clean and organized.

Where's the problem? He's terrified of commitment.

Most of the relationships in the Nara clan seem to consist of passive Nara men with verbose spouses who have no issue bossing their partners around.

But at the same time, Shikamaru doesn't mind this dynamic. He wants to laze, but he's also almost seemingly afraid of dynamics that allow him to laze.

He'll be just fine around the house, just a bit dramatic if you ever ask him to do anything. He'll get over it.

𓆃 Shino

Great husband and great family to marry into.

Just overall very balanced, if not quiet. The Aburame clan is close, but respectful of each other. You'll never have to deal with nagging in-laws because Shibi has already taken you in as one of his own.

Enjoy fresh meals of produce expertly tended to from the garden.

While Shino has his more talkative side when it comes to people he's close to, he's still quiet by nature. Don't expect that to change just because you've gotten married.

The obvious con is the massive amount of insects that will constantly be around you. You're not allowed to trap them or kill them.

You will have to get used to bugs crawling on you.

𓆃 Tenten

You're always doing something crazy.

You don't think any of the other Konoha 12 ever expected that Tenten would have the most exciting marriage, but look at her now.

You're always innovating, making new things for her business, and taking spontaneous trips to check out crafting techniques.

Anything and everything you set your mind to, you support each other in. There are ten million projects scattered around your home.

You roll up to get-togethers (when they seldom happen), being the most traveled and bringing the most unique gifts.

No one knows what you're going to be up to next.

Drunk boys! How would they act? Would they reveal too much, wake up the next morning, and remember nothing? Or worse, would they remember everything?

Sans: He's not much of a drinker. He only drinks around people he 100% trusts to look after him when he's inebriated, he's worried about his 1HP. He might drink around the usual crew of Pap, Undyne and Alphys, but he rarely gets drunk.

... He might when it's just him and Mc, though, at home. When he's drunk around her, he gets clingy- he loses his 'maybe that's not appropriate for a friend' filter and he'll nestle his head into her lap and listen to her talk with a big happy goofy grin. If she moves around the house he follows like a shadow, holding her hand or not being able to resist the urge to touch her face and hair. He's like a particularly loving cat.

He always remembers in the morning. He just pretends not to.

Red: It takes a lot of liquor to knock this guy down. But when he does finally get knocked, it hits him pretty hard. How he acts when drunk depends massively on who he's with- if he's with people he doesn't like, he acts like himself but quicker to anger, and if he's with people he trusts he gets silly and laughs at everything.

Very drunk around Mc, he's not all that different. He's just gigglier and slurs his words. Except... he always this absolutely adoring expression on his face. Big soft eyelights, big soft smile, staring like she's his whole world. Every time she does anything at all, he gets 'the look'. She blushes a lot.

He's pretty good at remembering the morning after. He likes to tease her, if she did anything embarrassing.

Skull: Generally, it takes the same amount of alcohol to knock down Skull as it does Red. Red likes having the big guy as a drinking buddy, because at this point in his life, Red can drink most people under the table, and its fun to have someone else that keeps up with him.

Tipsy, Skull gets confused and dizzy. Actually drunk, Skull loses all his speech, and gets extremely cuddly. Though the outright cuddles are reserved for Mc (he has a habit of wandering off to go find her for snuggles) he also gets more physically affectionate with people he considers his friends/family. Red often gets Skull half-collapsing onto his shoulder, and even Sans finds himself occasionally getting gentle pats on the head or back.

He remembers absolutely nothing in the morning.

I need Eternal Sugar x Hollyberry content, please!

Dug to the bottom of the inbox mountain for this one lol. hollysugar-merchant, coming at you live 🫵🗣️🔥 (is that what the ship is called? HollySugar? I don't actually know, that's what i got used to calling it)

Eternal Sugar, being a musician, likes to play songs on her harp for Hollyberry. Eager to please, she at first went out of her way to pick up Hollyberrian tunes, knowing that Holly's people and culture are already quite musically inclined and believing it would win more of Holly's favor. After enough reassurance from Holly that she doesn't need to "impress" her (she just loves that Sugar can play something and is good at it, and she cares enough to want to play for Holly), Sugar allows herself to just play whatever song she has in mind at the time. Her goal had always been to serenade Holly and make her happy - and she always succeeds, which was all she wanted, anyway

Lots of brushing and styling each other's hair for fun, I can imagine. Eternal Sugar looks extremely feminine so it's easy to ascribe the "girly" affinity for makeup and hair and fashion and things of that nature to her. She'd love to dote on Hollyberry in this manner: just relaxing in their room, chatting with her while she brushes her hair. And Holly is happy to oblige, because she enjoys it and Sugar is really adorable when she does this

Hollyberry tries to encourage Eternal Sugar to go out and do things a lot, just in general. She can be (and often is, because it's Holly lol) a bit much, which leads to Sugar sort of digging her heels in and maybe them bickering about it, but Sugar at least acknowledges that Holly means well. Old habits die hard, is all. (Harder still when you're a Beast lol)

Sugar is very, very clingy in bed (sleep-wise, you perv lol). She'll curl up next to Holly, wrap her arms around her tight and not let go for anything. Good news is she's not super physically strong (not compared to Holly, anyway), so it's not that big of a hassle to peel her off when it's time to get up. Bad news is Sugar sleeps like the dead, so it's almost impossible to actually get her to wake up and start the day with Holly like Holly wants/prefers. And if/when she wakes up and notices that she is no longer glued to Holly like she was when she fell asleep... oh boy. It's Whinin' Time lol

Sugar finds Holly's family very cute. Her son in particular, just because of how much he resembles her. She dotes on him (and the others, of course; she also loves Princess very much, she's even more like Hollyberry than Royal Berry is) whenever she sees him. He and his friends and family get used to her presence and even welcome her to some degree after they stop being terrified of her lol

Sugar can be quite jealous, and doubles down on that jealousy when the one causing it actively does try to get in the way of her and Hollyberry. She goes back and forth between liking Wildberry and disliking him (Wildberry just dislikes her lol). She is sweet towards Jungleberry until the latter's mostly unshakeable distrust of her becomes a little TOO apparent. It is On Sight with Pitaya Dragon lol (she is VERY unhappy with how often Pitaya wants to spend time with Holly, even if it's only in a friendly capacity and the romantic threat is entirely imaginary. Pitaya just does not like Sugar in any way, shape or form; not really out of concern for Holly's safety or anything, he just thinks she sucks, there's really nothing else to it)

Sorry these are kind of lame :/ there's not enough for me to work with wrt Eternal Sugar. I'm sure I'll think of better things whenever she's added to the game and we actually see what she's like

All in all a very cute and loving family, the Ludenhart mamas obviously love each other so much, seemingly never being able to keep their hands off each other, Grim and Gen’s were bickering the entire time but in a fun way, you felt happy in this arrangement, they were all so adorable and being part of their family felt like being truly loved!

🛩️ Random-Blitzwing is just a monster sometimes. Early on in Arcee's life, he began to teach her how to be sneaky. But not sneaky to save her metal-hide, no, no, no, he taught her that so she could scare anyone passing by her

🛩️ Blitzwing has a habit of being clingy to his family, unconsciously being around you guys at every moment he could be. From when the War began, to when the War ended and you guys all lived together on the Nemesis/in the Decepticon Lair on Earth

🛩️ As Arcee aged, she grew to act a lot more like a mixture of you and your sparkmate's Random side, much to everyone else's annoyance

🛩️ She would just be a menace to society with the mech's one side. Constantly getting the others (mainly Starscream) in trouble with Megatron out of pure boredom. It's because of this that Starscream hates your offspring with all of his spark

🛩️ Icy-Blitzwing was surprised when the Autobots began to fight back at full-strength. He was also extremely worried for his sparkmate and sparkling (still calls Arcee that, despite the fact she was practically an adult)

🛩️ Hothead-Blitzwing is beyond pissed when he sees the small-Autobot, Bumblebee, sprint past him and 'sting' Arcee, causing her to be paralyzed and fall to the ground after the shocks passed through her system. He then went nuts and began trying to smash the tiny 'Bot himself

🛩️ Random-Blitzwing was saddened when you three were thrown into separate cells. He wanted to be next to his sparkmate and sparkling after such a failure. What if they weren't in the same prison?! Oh, Primus, please allow him to keep an optic on his family

🛩️ You sat up and looked across at Blitzwing, seeing him look at you in return, a sad expression on his face-plate as he looked away abruptly, obviously angry with himself for allowing you and Arcee to be harmed

I'm a fashion enjoyer, so here's more talk about Save Everyone AU/Poppy Worldwide fashion and character design:

For the AU, I'm trying my best to follow canon, despite me throwing it out of the window from time to time whenever I feel like adding or changing something would benefit the story and its themes. This is why I changed most of chapter 2's VHS tapes and documents, and I'm doing something similar for chapter 3.

I forgot to mention this while writing the chapter 2 arc, but Huggy Wuggy wears a little blanket around his neck. I need to draw him wearing it, but it has a dark blue color. I wanted Huggy to feel and look more like a feral kid and thought it would be appropriate;

Marie/Mommy Long Legs first starts out wearing nothing but the things that are already part of her plastic body, and ends the chapter 2 arc without her left arm. Similar to Huggy, in order to make her feel more like a kid I decided to make her wear Angel's green hoodie. Green in this AU is a color associated with both hope and Angel themself, as its a nature color. Marie is clingy and has a fear of abandonment thanks to what happened to her pre-becoming MLL, so she gets attached to the hoodie much like how a kid would wear their parent's outfits in order to "copy" them, while also getting attached to the idea of finally leaving that hellhole;

Poppy wears her traditional and frilly blue dress for chapter 2 and half of chapter 3, up until Angel helps Miss Delight and the group realocates to the School. Poppy's dress got extremely dirty from all the chaos, and in order to adapt, she decides to switch to a simpler one that Delight makes for her. Poppy is changing thanks to Angel's influence, slowly stopping to see most of the toys as just monsters, but victims just like her. She leaves the ribbons and intrincacies behind, as she has to survive, as she now really knows just how easy it is for her to be captured or hurt by others. Not that she didn't know that beforehand!

Dogday also receives a new lower torso, but no new legs. The lower torso was something Delight sewn together per Catnap's request. Dogday doesn't know about this just yet, but Catnap genuinely cares for him, with the new body part being a representation of that. I don't know if I'm going to throw him into another outfit or not for now, though!

Kissy is also going to get an outfit change thanks to Angel's influence on her: A gold ribbon she'll wrap around one of her arms so Poppy can more easily climb her when needed. Gold/bright yellow will be colors associated with the main found family for this AU!

Miss Delight will also change. Not by a whole lot, but Angel is going to wrap her around in a nice and cozy blanket so she won't get cold. The blanket covers her destroyed dress: Angel is influencing her to heal, even if not completely;

Speaking of which, Angel is like my own Barbie doll for this AU. They start out with a green jacket, giving it to Marie at the end of the chapter 2 arc, and then on chapter 3 they change to an old maintenance jacket. It's bright yellow, the color that symbolizes the found family as a whole to show that Angel is becoming an actual and real parent, and to also show that this guy is doing some maintenance work around Playcare, powering up generators and trying to help all the wounds the children left behind have. Angel is going to get a blanket made by the mini critters, dark blue in color, and it's a parallel to Nossa Senhora da Aparecida, a brazilian saint whose day (October 12th) is also called "children's day", aka when we give gifts to kids, like toys. The religious symbolism will become more apparent during the chapter 4 arc, when Angel has the final outfit change, being forced into a medical gown that parallels the outfits saints are painted wearing. This change is not of Angel's own choice, though!

This exchange made me realize that many of you tend to forget that Carmy is a late bloomer who never had any girlfriend before Claire which actually explains his awkward behavior. I know it because I too am an awkward late bloomer (around the same age as Carmy and sharing a lot of common with him) and his behavior totally made sense to me lol

I want you all to keep in mind that when you've been closed off romantic elationships for your entire life, you're not handling them the same way people who started dating in their teens or young adult years (Carmy is most likely in his early 30s and never got into any relationships before).

Carmy, like any late bloomer, was used to never being considered romantically, which explains why he freaked out when Claire started flirting with him and stopped thinking rationally (which is very unfamiliar for emotionally avoidant type like Carmy or I - we'll come back to this later). I understand Carmy's move of giving a false number to Claire yet still accepting to go out with her later may be confusing to many people, but as a fellow late bloomer I immediately clocked it : we are not comfortable with the attention people give to us, but we *know* this behavior is not normal/unhealthy so Carmy eventually giving in may be a way of eventually getting into the mold and abide to the "if you don't open up to others and give them chances, how can you expect building actual relationships?" mantra. Because deep down we want to be like others (because being so closed off all the time can become emotionally draining) and seek to find a way to fit in.

Another thing about people like Carmy/emotional avoidant type is that by being so closed off to the world, we are also extremely deceptive about who we truly are. It makes sense to me that Carmy hides his feelings for Syd and would rather project them onto Claire. That's definitely manipulative, but we'd rather do that than get "uncovered". We tend to think very rationally and our sense of self perseveration is incredibly strong. I just know that howing his bare feelings has to be one of the most terrifying and embarrassing thing for Carmy.

We also don't mind getting confused as someone we are not in which we feel some sort of relief because it keeps our real self away from others perception (if that make sense???). Carmy passing himself as "Logan" in that party -while being quite extreme- is totally on brand actually lol. I regularly get mistaken as a male (I'm lowkey gnc) but I never bother correcting people lol I'm fine being whatever they see me as, as long it's not the real me.

Talking about self preservation: we don't ask and don't tell. Carmy sister being mad at him for never asking her whether she was okay was extremely relatable because I tend to get the same reproach from my own sisters. Very typical of us. Fleeing to the other side of the globe to cope with a family member death is something I *get* because we are avoidant in nature. We can also be insane hustlers and tend to cope with grief or unhealed emotions through work.

On the positive side, we are extremely independent and self reliant. The scene in the fridge (last episode of season 2) where Carmy loses his shit and says he was mad at himself for indulging in all "this bullshit" (= love and relationships) I FELT THAT. Countless times I prayed to God to remove from my heart my "shameful" longing for love & intimacy that I always felt hindered me in my quest for excellence & satisfaction in any other aspect of my life. Because we are very rational & practical people and lowkey despise "useless" stuff like relationships and feelings. And that's where the messed up part comes up.

I wouldn't be surprised Carmy lowkey despises Claire for being so clingy and courting him so openly. As I just said, we tend to look down on (bold) displayal of love and emotion which lowkey repulse us. I think that's why Carmy dislikes his sister's husband when he's an all around good guy. He may have a resentment (and even jealousy?) against this man that has no issue showing affection - not only to his sister, but also the rest of the family. Which Carmy still struggles to do so far.

This may also explain why Carmy is suddenly so cold with Claire when he's serving her at the table (beside him allegedly previously making up his mind to break up with her). That's why the moment he hears that voicemail of Claire saying she "loves him" he THROWS AWAY his phone. Because that's disgusting.

I think the CarmyxSyd dynamic is unique because there's a dimension of respect between both. They share the same passion for cuisine, and Sydney constantly pushes Carmy out of his comfort zone. As an avoidant emotional attachment type myself, when I think of the type of people I potentially could be attracted to, I can only think of people I have deeply respect for, and bring objective value into my life AND skills. I've seen people criticize the fact that Sydney was pretty much a "warrior worker" for Carmy (and pretty much the whole Bear crew) and that's true. But regardless it's a good or bad thing, that's pretty much the type of profile that may attract avoidant emotional type of people. Bonding through work & shared passion is our safest field to build romantic connection through. That's why Carmy made Syd sign a partnership agreement instead of a marriage contract 💅🏾 that's the safest way for him to convey his feelings.

Again, we are very rational people and in every type of relationship, we instinctively jauge whether & how this person might be useful for us. It doesn't mean we built relationship with people depending on whether they can be useful for us or not, but that's definitely in a part of our head somewhere. Yes, that's fucked up (1/because we are 2/that's why emotionally distant people can become pretty unlikable - i.e Carmy carmying), but you have to keep that in mind to understand how Carmy moves. Ok so, I had a silly idea for an Au. What if Nemona was sent back in time to Hisui? 

Introducing, Warden Nemona au!!! I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently so I finally decided to compile my thoughts in a post for fun! 

First off, how did Nemona even get sent to Hisui in the first place?

By pure accident! Or at least that's what I'm going for right now lol. 

A space time distortion opened up and she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. ( I probably could somehow connect this to the story of SV considering there are some time travel shenanigans going on there. I’ll think more about this in the future. )

Her situation is much like Ingo’s though it differs in some ways. 

When she landed in Hisui she was eventually found and taken in by the Diamond Clan. She has no memory of her life beforehand, except for her name. 

Ok here's where it diverges from the canon story a bit. For this au I decided to add a new Noble Pokemon, a Hisuian Goodra! ( hopefully I am not breaking the lore too much with this addition lol )

Now why did I pick Goodra of all pokemon? A few reasons. 

I really like Hisuian Goodra. That's it, that's the first reason lol. 

There is a Alpha Hisuian Goodra in the Ancient Quarry in the Coronet Highlands. I figure this Goodra could be a noble in this au. (also this location allows for more interactions with Ingo so yay! :D) 

In SV, Nemona has a Goodra on her team, so it acts as kind of a callback to that. 

The biggest reason I ultimately chose Hisuan Goodra though. Take a look at its pokedex entry real quick.

Ok so, the entry says that “it loathes solitude and is extremely clingy” and that it’ll be very upset if those dearest to it leave its side. And that actually kinda reminded me of Nemona. Let me explain. 

In the story of SV, before she meets the player, Nemona is looking for a friend/rival to challenge her. Her passion for battling is very clear, to the point where she seems to scare away other students due to her intensity. Everyone around her is either scared of her for her abilities and/or dislikes her because her family is rich and they assume she’s a stuck up princess. In the post game dialogue with Nemona, she talks about how she feels like “There was this invisible wall between me and everyone else.” She was clearly very lonely, and just wanted to have a friend who she could connect with. So when she does meet the protag, who doesn't push her away and seems to enjoy battling like she does, she immediately tries to befriend them. She is shown to be kinda clingy, probably afraid of losing her one chance at making a real friend. ( Of course, after the events of Area Zero and Mochi Mayhem, she finally has a group of friends who understand her, so yay!!! )

TLDR: It seems that both Hisuian Goodra and Nemona have a fear of being alone and tend to act a bit clingy because of it. So symbolism!!! Yay!!!

Ok let's move on to the actual plot of the au. I’m not gonna write everything here, just the basics, and I may change some details later on, but here's what I got! This takes place after the events of SV, and about five-ish months before Pla. 

First things first, Nemona lands in the Coronet Highlands and is actually first discovered by the noble Hisuian Goodra. It is quite skittish and shy, but is intrigued by this mysterious person who had just fallen from the sky. So it comes closer. When she begins to stir however, it immediately hides in its shell, shaking nervously. Around this time, both Warden Ingo Warden Melli had seen something falling into Lord Goodras domain and they decided to check it out together. With Lady Sneaslers help, they climbed onto the top where they found Nemona, lying on the ground unconscious. Ingo immediately springs into action, suspecting that what happened to him has happened once again. He thinks they should take her to the nearest camp to get help. At first Melli wants nothing to do with this but is convinced by Ingo to help out in the end. The two end up finding Adaman and explain the situation to him. Adaman decides to bring her over to the Diamond Settlement for safety. Once again, Melli disagrees with this decision, but once again he is convinced to help out. 

So that’s how she meets the Diamond Clan. 

A Few notes:

Despite the amnesia, she seems to remember almost everything about pokemon. She can even recognize if a specific Pokemon looks different than one she had seen in the future. (For example, She states that she, “has never seen a Goodra with a shell before!”)

Her personality is mostly the same. She is cheerful and positive even in tough situations, which makes it easy for the other Wardens to get along with her. However, they do think she is kiiiiiiiiinda weird, because everytime she sees a new pokemon, her first reaction is “I’m gonna fight it!” Most of them are convinced that she has no survival instincts. 

She, like Ingo, uses Pokeballs, making her the only member of the diamond clan to use them. 

Due to her low stamina, she finds it difficult to run or climb for too long, leading her to usually sit upon Goodra’s shell while traveling. 

She and Ingo get along well. Whenever they start up a conversion they will almost always start infodumping about pokemon to each other. Melli tries to avoid them at all costs. 

In the story, when Lord Goodra becomes frenzied, Nemona tries to help him alone, but ends up over exerting herself and passing out for a whole day. Adaman basically forced her to leave it to Akari, so as to not hurt herself again. Nemona is glad that Akari saved the day, but feels disappointed in her own abilities and feels kinda useless for not being able to help. 

She does get along with Akari though! Especially when Nemona realized how strong of a battler she was.

Soarynn SFW Alphabet

A (Affection): Soarynn is very shy. If she’s in public, the most that girl is gonna do is hold his hand. He’ll often tease her about it and try to make her flustered, but Soarynn is very set on keeping things private when they’re out in the world.

Behind closed doors, she's much more clingy. She loves physical touch, but I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily her love language. Quality time is her favorite thing in the world, she doesn’t mind sitting together in a quiet room. As long as she’s with Coryo, she’s happy. She does like to cuddle, kiss, hug, all those things. But she won’t always initiate them. She likes to write Coryo little notes to find around the house.

B (Best Friend): Soarynn is an amazing friend. She loves her friends so much and enjoys spending time with them. She’ll often lose track of time when she’s with them. She’s extremely loyal and will always listen to them and their problems. Soarynn values her friendships very deeply and can get worked up if there’s a small misunderstanding. She has an underlying fear of being abandoned or excluded, so she always does her best to be supportive.

C (Cuddles): Soarynn likes to cuddle at night. She loves being the little spoon and having Coryo’s strong arms wrapped around her. She also loves sitting in his lap. It always turns him on, so she likes to tease him. She also loves cuddling with Petunia during the day when Coryo is gone.

D (Domestic): Soarynn is quite domestic. She was raised to be a wife, so she is fully prepared to settle down and raise a family. Soarynn wants children with Coryo and enjoys the mundane tasks around the house, such as cooking and cleaning.

As their relationship grows older, she might hire a maid or cook to help keep up with taking care of the penthouse. Soarynn can cook, although she isn't the best, but she loves to clean and will have bursts of energy where she tackles the entire apartment one afternoon. Do not touch anything after she's lit a candle.

E (Ending): Soarynn would try to hold on until the last minute; that being said, she most likely wouldn't be the one to end things. If she did, it would be for very extreme reasons, such as being hit or verbally abused. Soarynn can endure a lot. She'd be very emotional and want to stay in touch as much as possible. She'd also keep any gifts she got, wanting to remember her time with that person.

I feel like she'd be one of those people who's like, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened," whereas Coryo is the complete opposite. She'd take the blame even if she's not at fault for the relationship ending.

F (Fiancé): Soarynn wants stability. She wants to get engaged, married, and start a family. That being said, she's already got a ring picked out in her head. She's one of those little girls who's dreamed of getting married since she was five. When she meets Coryo, she knows she is going to marry him and nothing will keep her from doing it. She'd want to settle down after about three years of dating. She realizes that life is short, and nothing is promised.

G (Gentle): Soarynn is so gentle. Emotionally, she borders on being fragile. Soarynn is extremely empathetic and feels things so strongly. She's very in touch with all of her emotions, which will cause her to take a lot of things to heart even if that's not the intention. She wears her heart on her sleeve.

Physically, she's gentle as well. Soarynn is a proper lady who doesn't ever want to come across as too intimidating. That being said, she's never rough with Coryo, I genuinely can't picture her ever trying to be rough with him. She's very gentle when she holds his hand or gives him head scratches. As for Petunia, that's her baby, so she's always going to be gentle with her.

H (Hugs): Soarynn loves hugs! She loves giving them and receiving them. Soarynn always hugs her friends when she sees them, and even though he's not too fond of them, she always hugs Coryo goodbye when he leaves for work. She also hugs Petunia a lot. Soarynn likes physical touch with her loved ones, so she doesn't mind getting hugged. Her hugs are sweet, and she squeezes so tight like she never wants to let go.

I (I Love You): Soarynn is a hopeless romantic. She wants to fall in love, she needs to fall in love. So when she meets Coryo, she's quick to say those words, like I give her three months lmfao. He's much slower to say them, but she doesn't mind; she just wants him to know how much she loves him. When he does start saying it, she wants him to say it every five seconds and at random times will ask, "Do you love me? How much do you love me? Would you love me if I were a worm?"

J (Jealousy): Soarynn doesn't understand this concept. She has everything she could ever need. She has the man, the cat, and the house. She rarely wants for anything, so she doesn't get jealous. She doesn't feel threatened by other women either, even if they're blatantly flirting with Coryo, she feels secure in her relationship. She doesn't mind it when he gets jealous, she knows he loves her and values their relationship. If she were to get jealous, I can imagine she'd let those emotions bottle up until she breaks one day and catches Coryo off guard.

K (Kisses): Soarynn loves being kissed. She loves giving kisses. She loves kissing Coryo on his lips, on his nose, on his back when he's sleeping, and she loves to kiss his biceps. (She definitely bites them.) Soarynn doesn't consider herself to be the best kisser, but she's got the right idea.

She likes being kissed on the cheeks, the lips, and loves when Coryo kisses up and down her stomach. He'll blow raspberries against her skin, which will send her into a fit of laughter. She also likes it when he kisses the back of her hand when they're out in public. Soarynn can get a little shy, so he obviously teases her about it. "Come on, baby, give me a little kiss."

Soarynn kisses Petunia the most, don't tell Coryo.

L (Little Ones): Give her the babies! Soarynn dreams of becoming a mother. She desperately wants to start a family of her own, so she approaches this topic with much enthusiasm. She would really enjoy being pregnant, and honestly, she'd be one of those moms who gets pregnant like four weeks after giving birth. She's very good with children already, so she's a wonderful mother when she has her own children. She loves her girls and has a special place in her heart for her sweet boy, Caspian. Soarynn considers Petunia to be her firstborn.

M (Morning): Soarynn can sleep the day away. Since she doesn't work, she'll sleep in until ten o'clock in the morning most days. The only time she wakes up earlier than that is if Coryo wakes her up. Soarynn prefers a slow morning with tea and her favorite book in bed while Petunia curls up next to her. She's very quiet in the morning, needing a full two hours to wake up.

N (Night): That girl is a menace at night. While Coryo wants to wind down, Soarynn is all riled up. She is bouncing off the walls. Soarynn likes to play with Petunia at night, so those two gang up on Coryo all the time. Soarynn will toss and turn in their bed while he just keeps an iron grip on her waist and mumbles for her to go to sleep. But once she's asleep, she's dead to the world.

O (Open): As I said before, Soarynn wears her heart on her sleeve. That being said, she's very open from the start of her relationship. She doesn't really see the point in being secretive with someone she's going to marry someday, so she shares all sorts of things early into the relationship. She understands why Coryo is slow to reveal things about himself and doesn't pressure him to open up sooner. Soarynn has a lot of patience with him.

P (Patience): That girl is a saint. Between Coryo and Petunia, she's got her hands full. Soarynn never wants to be a burden so she's not going to complain if service is slow or if they got her order wrong. She's quite patient with Coryo and his busy schedule and it takes a lot to work on her last nerve. When they have children, she gets even more patient which amazes Coryo.

Q (Quizzes): Soarynn remembers everything. To be known is to be loved, and she really takes that to heart. Soarynn isn't one to forget and will write things down to remember them. She knows Coryo's favorite color, food, flower, cologne, and shoe size. She remembers everything, the good and the bad, but she won't ever bring up the bad.

R (Remember): Soarynn's favorite memory with Coryo was when he kissed her for the first time. He was her first kiss, so she was really nervous. He had taken her out on a date, everything was perfect, and that was when she started to realize that she was in love with him. He's always so gentle around her, and she's never felt unsafe around him. Soaarynn would go home that night and gently touch her lips every five seconds, trying to remember what it felt like to be kissed by Coriolanus Snow.

S (Security): Soarynn doesn't have a worry in the world when it comes to that boy. She's not an idiot, she's seen how big he is and how scary he can be, so she's not gonna lose any sleep over his safety. He can take care of himself. Soarynn doesn't mind being protected because to her, she's being taken care of.

I honestly can't imagine her trying to protect Coryo. She won't hesitate to protect his reputation, but when it comes to getting physical, she's not gonna be able to do much. She is quite protective of Petunia since she escaped one time and sent Soarynn into a panic, and when she has children, she will kill for them, no questions asked.

T (Try): Soarynn puts all her effort into everything she does. For her relationship, she gives it her all. It's all she has to live for in her mind. Soarynn will spend the whole day getting ready for a date with Coriolanus. She'll buy a whole new outfit, take a full-body shower, blow out her hair, and get her nails done for a simple dinner. Soarynn is really good at giving gifts to those she loves, and they're very well thought out. For everyday tasks, nothing is left incomplete. Soarynn won't rest until everything is finished.

U (Ugly): Soarynn is a cuticle picker. She doesn't mean to do it, but when she gets nervous, she'll pick them raw. Other than that, she doesn't have any bad habits. She cleans up after herself, treats others well, and takes good care of Petunia.

V (Vanity): Soarynn would never admit it, but she cares a lot about how she looks. She's been told how beautiful she is all her life, so that obviously affects her. She wants to look her very best for Coryo and will spend thousands of dollars on treatments and appointments. Soarynn always has fresh nails, glowing skin, and perfect hair. She is the perfect picture of Capitol wealth and class.

W (Whole): She is missing her other half when Coryo is at work. When they're apart, it's like her heart has been ripped to pieces. She hates it when he goes to work and will beg for him to stay home every morning he leaves. She feels the same way with Petunia, if she goes to the vet, Soaynn is waiting by the phone to see when she can come pick her up. Soarynn values quality time, so being apart can be very hard on her.

X (Xtra): Soarynn is left-handed. She loves the color pink and anything with polka dots and bows. Soarynn doesn't see being girly as a bad thing; she loves being feminine and put together. She'd also never admit this, but she really likes chewing on ice even though it's bad for her teeth.

Y (Yuck): Soarynn hates loud chewers. She can't stand people who are loud for no reason, but she's also very quiet herself. When it comes to dating, she doesn't like being bossed around. There's a difference between being domiant and being a dick. She's a grown ass woman and expwecrts to be treated as such.

Z (Zzz): Soarynn must sleep with all her machines. I'm talking white noise, humifier, space heater, the whole nine yards. She loves falling asleep in Coryo's arms, but she has to have Petunia in the bed with her, even if Coryo hates it.

Can we hear more about teenage pregnancy linzin? 🥹

Lin and Tenzin are 16/17 when they find out they are going to be parents.

Their families are a bit disappointed in them due to their age, reckless actions, and not being married.

Oddly enough, the world is extremely supportive of this teen pregnancy. Of course, there are some press who paints Linzin as the "imperfect" children of Avatar Aang, Katara, and Toph Beifong.

Then there are the conservative and extremely traditional people who find it disgraceful.

But other than that, the White Lotus and acolytes are celebrating this.

"Master Tenzin and Master Beifong are reviving the Air Nation at such young ages! They are saving a dying nation! How responsible of them! Their bodies are also highly fertile. Imagine how many more airbenders they can bear in the future now that they are starting a family!"

Lin and Tenzin are so scared about having a kid. This was never part of the plan at all.

But they also never expected there to be a lot of support for the pregnancy. With the WL being supportive, they also provide extra protection to maintain privacy for Linzin and the family.

The younger acolytes are definitely jealous of the attention that Lin gets and how she's locking down Master Tenzin.

Lin connects with the much older female acolytes. Some of them have given birth and they're not as condescending and judgmental about motherhood. In fact, several of them were teen mothers themselves and offer their own advice and support to Lin that they never had at her age.

Lin and Tenzin's families keep them away from the public eye as much as possible for safety and because they just don't want extra attention.

It takes time for Katara and Aang to come to terms with this, but in the end, they love both Lin and Tenzin. They want what's best for them, and although they're not happy with the current situation, they will support Linzin.

Toph is...Lin can't read her well. Toph is happy that Lin isn't alone and will have Tenzin as her partner and father of child. She's proud that Lin will have a family with a decent kid, even if he's a nerd and dork. She's not the happiest that Lin got knocked up, but she knows that Lin and Tenzin will be able to care for a kid.

They're rich and have resources to raise a child well.

Tenzin still doesn't have his tattoos yet, and that idea is put on hold until the whole craze around pregnancy dies down. As Lin's belly grows, she continues to encourage Tenzin to get his tattoos. Partially this is so that he stops being extremely clingy and doting on her every second.

In the midst of getting Lin pregnant at 17, Tenzin feels like he's even more of a failure and not worthy of his tattoos.

"I'm a failure, Lin...I don't deserve my tattoos."

Lin guides Tenzin's hand on her belly and forces him to look her in the eyes.

"Tenzin, you've already mastered most if not all of the forms. And it's not about you knocking me up. Could we have been more careful? Of course. But that's the past now. What matters is what you do with your current circumstances."

Lin avoids his eyes for a moment, but smiles softly. "You trying to be a good father and partner tells me that you're more than worthy of getting your tattoos."

Tenzin wants to cry and he just hugs Lin, kissing her and nuzzling his face into her boobs lol

He speaks with Aang about his tattoos, and doesn't force the case about needing his arrows for validation.

Two weeks later, Aang tells Tenzin that he is ready for arrows.

Tenzin almost flies 20 feet in the air from joy. He hops and blurts out the exciting news to Oogi, and then he sprints in search of Lin to tell her.

"I told you. I dont know what you were so worried about," she says.

During his tattoo ceremony, Tenzin asks Lin to be there with him. She agrees.

When Tenzin could, he held onto Lin's hand and had his other hand placed over Lin's bump. Though the tattoos were painful, every so often, Tenzin felt kicks and thumps along the palm of his hands. Tears fell down his cheeks from happiness, rather than pain.

Suyin, being 10, at this time gets a bigger perspective and wake up call.

She hates that Lin is getting more attention from Toph, but her big sister becoming a mommy is also so fascinating. So, in this case, rather than Lin parenting Suyin, they bond over baby. Lin including Su throughout the pregnancy proves to be meaningful for them both.

Su avoids getting involved with triads. And Toph sees that Su sometimes bugs Lin lol so she spends more time with Su too.

Bumi and Kya tease Tenzin for probably knocking up Lin after lasting 30 seconds with her. But they are excited to become Uncle and Aunt.

In the middle of spring, Lin gives birth to a healthy baby girl.

Tenzin was with her throughout labor and delivery. Lin didn't ask, Tenzin just stayed by her side the entire time. Katara tried to kick him out, but he refused and LIn had an easier time bc of his support and strength.

They name her, Chesa. It's an old Air Nation (Tibetan) name that means "greatness" and refers to spiritual greatness.

To their surprise, she has vibrant blue eyes just like Katara. But Chesa has inherited the Beifong hair and the rest of Lin's features.

Whatever disappointment anyone in the family felt when they found out Lin and Tenzin would become teen parents...it immediately disappears once they lay eyes on Chesa Beifong.

Lin holds baby close to her heart, while Tenzin sits beside her on fresh bedding.

Tenzin holds Lin close and rests his arm beneath baby.

Almost finished with the last chapter of just hold my hand and questioning whether to write one more, so here are some bits that didn't (won't) make it into the fic

• Jake and Bradley won't ever name their kid after someone, at least not exactly the same way, but they're okay with using some version of their parents' names, or will use it as a second names if exact same, like with the twin girls (Tommy Carole and Nicky Patricia). The exception is of course their boy, PJ (Peter Jacob), because Jake wanted some kind of name that can be shortened to XJ, like CJ, AJ, etc. Peter is also Jake's (late) dad's second name. Jake's family has a tradition of doing all of the above with all their kids.

• PJ is definitely daddy's boy (Bradley's) and he's extremely shy around strangers. Even when he was an infant and technically couldn't recognize people, he'd get very fussy when someone who wasn't Bradley or Jake's mom would hold him. Yes, this applies to Jake as well - he was on deployment the first few months after PJ was born and when he came back, PJ would regard him as stranger for the first couple of months. He accepts only a couple of people, including his favorite aunt, Nat. He's also a quiet, angel of a baby.

• Ronnie is also quiet but not as much of an angel. I've mentioned it but she has speech development issues and instead communicates in different ways - this includes being a bit more touchy and more expressive with her body language as well as simply trying to do/get what she needs herself without asking for help. They've taken her to her paediatrician but she wasn't too worried as she seems to be developing well socially and has plenty of support and examples at home.

• Both Ronnie and PJ are a bit clingy, just because Bradley spent a lot of time with them when he was on maternity leave/pregnancy leave/office duty due to the timing of the both pregnancies being so close. The twins were more used to staying with Jake's ma and had been going to the nursery/preschool most of their lives so they're the most social and the most independent of the kids. (I also think they have ADHD and are a bit oblivious to social cues...)

• The first pregnancy wasn't planned. (I might allude to it in the fic so spoilers) Bradley and Jake were actually broken up when Bradley found out - it had been Bradley who started getting a bit scared and had his issues resurfacing and did the breaking up when Jake started being more serious about them. This has happened before and Bradley would always come back within a month so Jake was going to just wait it out - he didn't know it, but this time Bradley was more adamant and had planned to be transferred and have that break up be permanent. The whole plan changed when he was pregnant just because he couldn't be stationed at Atsugi and because he felt like Jake should have a chance to be present in the baby's life. It took Jake half the pregnancy for him to actually get them to move in back together (and that only happened because Bradley was having trouble getting by alone in his apartment) and then almost another month for Bradley to actually let them get back together - he had a lot of issues before but after he found out he was pregnant it was like he started worrying about them about three times as much. It was a very emotional time for them.

• Bradley started therapy before the twins were born and Jake proposed to him when they were still in the hospital after labour (not very romantic but Bradley liked it) and married when the twins were around six months old, no ceremony, just them, the twins and Jake's ma

• The second pregnancy was planned. It was Bradley who brought up that he wanted another kid - Jake had been thinking about it for some time but remembering that pregnancy wasn't easy on Bradley, he didn't want to pressure him. It took them ten very frustrating months but another nines months later Ronnie (Veronica Rose) was born. Her second name was Jake's memaw's first name and Veronica is a name Bradley's mom really liked for a girl.

• The third pregnancy was kinda planned - they knew they wanted another kid, they just thought they would wait a couple of years before trying so it was a surprise when not even a few months later and during Bradley's flight fitness physical it turned out he was pregnant again.

• Obviously, the fourth pregnancy wasn't planned at all. They haven't talked about having more kids, but neither was opposed to, even if it was implied they would wait at least a couple of years so Bradley could get back into service for some time.

• Bradley did have problems with work related to having kids -- each time there had been offers (that sounded more like orders...) of early retirement or switch to non-flight positions and a lot of pressure to take them. Each offer and its rejection was followed by some shit happening - first time around, they put Bradley on alternative jobs that were too physical for his condition or gave him minimal maternity leave ultimateum; second time around, it was Jake's deployment being moved from after the due date to before and during the due date, Jake being sent abroad for special training way more often than anyone else. It was also why Bradley was held back from being sent to Top Gun, the argument being 'we send you there, you take a place of someone who won't get pregnant and be out of action for months'. It changed when he and Jake transferred from Oceana to Lemoore, partially due to Ice's influence behind scenes. 

• Jake had been amazing through each pregnancy, even if the first one was an adventure of trials and errors. Bradley was very stubborn and emotional and Jake had the patient of a saint and didn't take it that personal whenever Bradley would explode/reject/etc at him. But also pregnancy wasn't the easiest on Bradley (each time, the last 2-3 months he'd end up on med leave, not because he was high risk but because the symptoms were quite intense), also in the emotional sense (he's really sensitive to hormone changes) so Jake tried to make it as easy as possible on him each time.

• Further into the future, Mav will pretend he can actually tell no to the kids (he can't) but Ice straight up melted and doesn't even try to say otherwise. It's enough that they mention something once and Ice already makes up a plan to get/do it for them...

• Mav is also absolutely hypnotized by Bradley's baby bump once it shows, always so taken back when he sees it. He'd be glued up to his side if he didn't know how much it annoys him (and if Hangman was always nearby and taking the spot already...)

• Jake's ma, Pat, is quick friends with Ice (she teaches him to knit and quilt). Mav is friendly with her but it takes him awhile to warm up to her completely - mostly because he's kinda jealous? that she was there for the boys the whole time, since the twins were born, while Bradley never even thought to reach out to them or even just tell them about the kids (even if he knows it was his own fault)

• Mav and Ice also have different perspectives on Bradley having kids. Mav never thought about it, having Bradley stuck on being barely 18 in his head, and Ice always knew that Bradley would eventually make his own family, he just prayed they would be included in it.

• The first time Mav watches the kids, the twins lose their front teeth. They trip and don't even cry but when Mav checks them out, they're each missing one of the front teeth. He absolutely panics, thinking that Bradley will absolutely hate him and will never let him watch or even see the kids and then Hangman comes to pick them up and he's ready to be ripped to shreds and Jake just goes, "Oh, yeah, they've been moving the whole week. Did you keep them for the tooth fairy?" Ice makes fun of him for weeks for this even though he'd be scared shitless too, if that happened with him.

• Jake and Mav eventually do have a truce, even if they still are a bit sharp with each other. It's the typical (if less toxic) in-laws relation where Mav still thinks Bradley could do better and where Jake still thinks Mav had been a bit of a crappy dad and has a slightly limited trust in him (mostly follows Bradley's cur tho). Ice likes Jake for Bradley a lot tho.

If you took a random 10 minute section of both Joshua and Otto's lives and viewed it as an outside observer, what is the probability that Otto would appear as the more pathetic man?

My gut was saying Otto easily, but thinking about it? Equally difficult to tell.

Joshua's internal monologue is extremely depressing. He spends every second berating himself and critiquing the people around him all because of his lack of self worth. Since he's alone a lot of the time, those thoughts can range from just being the ultimate hater to being the most miserable man around. In that regard, he's pretty pathetic, in how he's so openly hostile to Subaru and implicitly hostile to Reinhard over their treatment of his brother. He's got codependency issues up to his neck with how he tries to raise Julius to live a life Joshua couldn't.

This posts gonna be a long one, bear with. Arc 8 spoilers (up to c24) under the cut.

He's so fixated on Julius being perfect for his role it shatters him that they're not in sync. The whole debate about his role of head of house sticks with me heavily. "It was exactly that, handed over. Never stolen." The clinginess Joshua has with Julius is immense. The only thing that really offsets it is, well, he gets to know a wide range of people through him. Tivey and Hetaro are his closest friends, while he's fond of people like Mimi, Ricardo, Cecilus, and Schult. He's able to spend time playing with the triplets in the garden without being as controlling over what Julius does by the time canon rolls around.

Even for people he's not fond of, like Anastasia, Joshua's the one who pushes Julius to go after her when he fucks up and upsets her. He's the one who takes up a sword for the first time in 10 years to protect her because it's what Julius would want, even though he's terrified and weak and thinks she's an awful influence on him. Joshua grows up a lot between his obsession as a child to his obsession now, both in how he handles Julius with others and in how he is by himself. So while he's very much a pathetic person, there's a number of times he's actually... respectable, given his awful circumstances.

It makes me wonder how messed up his dynamic with Julius would be if they never met Reinhard when he was 9.

Otto, on the other hand... He's a lot more put together on the surface. You disrespect Julius to Joshua, he'll be foaming at the mouth, but you disrespect Subaru to Otto? It's not as obvious stepping over that landmine. In terms of situations, though, Otto's a lot more pathetic to me when you compare the two and their dynamics with the others.

Comparatively, Otto's had a far more nuanced upbringing than Joshua. His parents are so sweet, and his family's generally supportive of him, despite everything. He's struggled with his DP and later with Diadora and Russell's shit, where Joshua's just been plagued with ill health and a very warped family dynamic for years. They're somewhat direct opposites in how they're brought up in that regard.

By the time he meets Subaru and eventually joins the Emilia camp, he's been through some awful stuff. Frufoo's a massive pillar of support but in terms of healthy communication with people? He's been drinking at the bar regularly, which is a pretty telling sign of how things are for him. His attachment comes on quick, as people like Pluto have spoken about in their ottoposting (which I would highly recommend!!) from writing a suicide note over deciding to help Subaru all the way to making himself almost indispensible to the camp, despite telling everybody his plans of leaving and running his own store.

Joshua's fixation on Julius comes out of a mix of resentment, survival mechanisms and genuine loneliness, I feel. He's so afraid of being left behind that he tries to make himself integral to Julius, and I think part of that is also reflected in Otto's behaviour to the camp. How he asks all of them if they're worried about him over and over because he wants to feel wanted. Subaru gives him that, leaves him plenty of room to just, latch on and it feeds massively into his own issues of self worth and loneliness.

Don't get me started on how poorly he reacts in arc 8 when that closeness is indirectly (contrary to Otto's own belief) challenged by Julius. How quick he is to lash out and paint him as an outsider, that this does not involve him when it very clearly affects Julius the same as everyone else there. Julius and Emilia's light, able to believe that people are fundamentally good, where Otto nips at Subaru's heels like a lingering shadow.

Both Otto and Joshua are extremely pathetic people. They'll lash out at people, barking at whatever hand comes near them, and then project that rage unto themselves before the thought of talking their problems out dawns on them. I think between them, 10 minutes with Joshua would be a lot more tame for me, if solely down to me being much more fond of Julius praise than Subaru praise. Though sitting through 10 minutes of self hatred vs 10 minutes of whatever's going on in Otto's head is enough to drive anybody insane.

I think they'd both suffer from a lot of nightmares in their childhood(and currently LOL) and it was really helpful for them to sleep together for comfort. Back then it'd be a lot easier for Eyris to ask for help but after the incident I think Eyris feels a bit distant from Caleb so she has to slowly open up again! (even if she still gets clingy with him after finding out he's alive!)

I need to draw more sad Eyris honestly. The explosion would actually completely ruin her. Like she literally had to witness her biological family get killed and live with the guilt that she was the only one left, and then she loses Gran and Caleb, and once again she's the only one who lived. Like she already felt cursed before but like yeah that settles it. She's just completely out of it, there is not focus again until she reunites with Caleb(Or unless she's with Zayne, he knows how to cheer her up in all his awkward ways)

It's honestly kind of funny to think about how different Eyris and MC are. Like in game MC takes fucking NOTHING from anyone(love her for that) but like so headstrong, doesn't like taking help from Caleb, not clingy with him, nothing like that and its like...god, Eyris literally gives into ALL of that. Like it's EXTREMELY obvious that Eyris misses Caleb a lot. And she lets him take care of her, of course she only does this if he promises that she gets to take care of him too, otherwise she'd be ridiculously stubborn about not receiving help. She also doesn't really like Caleb helping with anything too simple(like getting her a glass of water) because like she can do that herself, it'd be different if he was getting one for himself too though. or if its anything dangerous, she already lost him once, something she didn't even want to consider before and would have breakdowns over if she thought abt it pre-explosion, but like now she KNOWS, and she would really rather NOT lose Caleb again(She'd also be in such strong denial now too like "he came back once...he'll come back again...right?" SOBS) but like lowkey, Eyris kinda worships Caleb and Zayne, like they stuck with her for all those years, she's extremely loyal to them and not afraid to let them know. Like she doesn't go around kissing the ground they walk on or anything like that, but she really looks up to them and is devoted. they could tell her to jump off a cliff and she would if that would make them happy(She just wont take care of herself no matter how many times they ask her too LMAOO) She's def gone on for HOURS to her friends about how kind Zayne and Caleb are and every single memory she has with them and every moment she cherishes with them

also note many of these answers are in the context of my silly fic/AU  but u do not have to read it to understand i included context where necessary. mostly i think abt them in terms of my AU but i think most of these are canon applicable as well

1. Who most initiates PDA?

Funny question for these two. Steph is by far more comfortable with PDA and treats it very casually, but she would probably have to slow down and match Grace's pace while she's still adjusting to being visibly in a queer relationship (especially in Hatchetfield/where she risks bumping into family or people from her congregation).

I think Grace is extremely affectionate though and once she's more comfortable (or just living somewhere she's less well known) she would probably initiate at least as much as Steph, if not more. I think she would get into the habit of hand-holding every time they're outside at some point and it would just be muscle memory to grab Steph's hand when they're walking side by side.

4. How did they first meet?

In Slow they met in middle school! Grace joined in 7th grade after attending a religious primary school, Steph failed 7th grade (too many skipped classes) and was taking it for the second time when Grace got there. They don't really interact significantly until a year or two later, but they're in the same homeroom pretty much every year in school, so they're always aware of each other in passing.

5. What is their love language?

I think for Grace the thing that makes her feel most comforted is probably physical touch, but the 'above and beyond' thing for her (and what she holds as a sign of the utmost commitment, at least on her part) is quality time. She's really punctual because she feels it's the best way to show that she cares and wants to be there + she's pedantic about attending her friend's events to show her support. She's also clingy in a 'following Steph around the house' way, she just loves to have company and another person around. Especially if that person is her girlfriend (someone who wants her around. She has not experienced much of this </3)

Steph probably appreciates words of affirmation quite a lot, especially if they're well thought-out. Also enjoys quality time (though she does need Some alone time) and is usually cool without fancy going-out stuff. Prefers casual, appreciates when people make time for her and enjoys the attention of being alone with someone. I think physical touch and being touchy is like breathing to her, just second nature with her friends and especially her partner. Throwing herself across laps and using people as pillows, always bumping shoulders. Stuff like that. it's very casual to her and it's a language for her in that it's how she says 'I feel safe and comfortable around you".

11. Which member is more physically affectionate?

I sort of already talked about this LOL but I think Grace is more intentionally affectionate and is more likely to initiate cuddling or kissing (once they get over the Afraid To Initiate bit of very newly-out Grace). But obviously Steph is always just touching her anyways, often unconsciously (initially this makes Grace's head explode. but she figures it out eventually) so while everything Grace does is thought out Steph is just always being touchy without realizing it because of how relaxed/comfortable she is. I think they're pretty equally matched on like volume but Grace does initiate more Big acts of affection

15. Who is more likely to make an impulsive decision and who is the voice of reason?

Steph has ADHD (to me.) and bad impulse control so she tends to be very spontaneous. I think a lot of the time she'll do things on a whim, even if they're risky, and say whatever comes to her mind. Grace is good at talking her into more safe activities and derailing her when she's feeling righteous and wants to pick a fight with someone twice her size over an insult to one of her friends.

Grace tends to be really unpredictable and impulsive when she's emotional at all and Steph gradually gets better at handling this and calming her down as they're together for longer. Not so much a voice of reason as a source of comfort for her.

Steph is the one online shopping and showing Grace her phone every 5 minutes just for her to go "no, we don't need another one" LOL

16. Who stays up way too late and who tries to drag them to bed?

Steph and her fuckass sleep schedule from parties and arguing online vs Grace, who has never stayed up past midnight, wakes up at 6:30 AM on weekends, makes her bed every morning, never snoozes an alarm... I think even when Grace drags Steph to bed "on time" (still an hour later than she'd like) Steph is just not a morning person and loves getting to sleep in and wake up slowly. Grace eventually learns to appreciate being cozy in bed for a little bit longer, but she never really stops waking up earlier than Steph and getting tons of things done before she even stirs.

17. Who fell in love first?

Hehe. Grace fell first, Steph fell harder/faster. Grace had like... this steadily building crush she didn't know was a crush. I think it probably started when they were in a group project together and Steph kept bumping their knees together under the table. She called them friends once and Grace pretty much did the entire project to please her. And even once Steph started ignoring her in class again she remained unusually fixated on her salvation and helping her. Around Abstinence Camp (summer before sophomore year/10th grade) Steph catches on to the fact that Grace genuinely wants to help her and tries to be nicer. They get more hostile again when Steph is outed as bisexual and Grace discovers what gay people are and that she isn't supposed to like them (but she can save them!). At the point where NPMD begins (around the beginning of their senior year) Steph has not had a non-religious interaction with Grace in over a year, and she is extremely sick of it.

(Slow is an everyone lives AU that has Max sleep with Grace before most of the events of NPMD, and the Waylon prank is both revenge and blackmail so she can force him to 'admit' to lying about it, hopefully preserving her reputations + preventing it from getting back to her parents. Everyone else is in on it for the same reasons as canon, and only Steph knows that Grace slept with Max at the point of the prank)

After finding out about Grace and Max, Steph just starts kind of pitying her because she knows how vicious gossip of this nature is and how cruel people are. So she's like okay, this girl really needs a friend, I can do that for now + being friends with Steph Lauter does give you some level of social standing which she figures she can lend to Grace for awhile. And Grace is still sort of annoying at first. But seeing her passionate + happy during the prank, orchestrating everything, awakens some really long-buried feelings about the weird girl in her homeroom who always tried too hard to relate every book to God, and who had come over to her house and described every research note to Steph while she assembled their poster by herself; Steph had SpongeBob reruns playing (which Grace was apparently not allowed to watch, so she sat with her back to the television) and was mostly tuning her out. They got 100% on their poster, and Steph stopped talking to Grace when her friends started to comment on it.

She feels bad for treating Grace that way + she is genuinely letting herself know this person for the first time and finding that she likes her. Like. Genuinely finds her smart and funny and interesting. She's sort of insane under duress, but it's endearing. But Steph does not pursue people, people come to her, so she sort of brushes it into the back of her mind, because there is no world in which Grace Chasity realizes her obvious queerness before she's 30.

Once she knows Grace likes her shes giggling and kicking her feet and extremely extremely excited about everything but she is trying So Hard to be normal and not rush her. She's sort of flattered about being Grace's first girl(friend?) and really really wants to give her a good experience and treat her well (the way she wishes her first partner had treated her). She is very happy and the only thing she really wishes is that Grace would apologize less and trust her a little more.
