Personal challenge: a simple sketch each day

Goal: forcing me to keep things simple - inking, shading, just a few sashes of colour

Improvement pursued: to get the movement, the emotion, finding how to add depth, learning how to leave things barely finished

Max time allowed: 2 hours, as usual for my Daily Challenges. Well, this is a very special Tribute for me, and I was on a three-days break. So I didn’t really set a timer for the « On Thin Ice » sketches. Plus, I drew them quite in the same time and on the same file to be sure Crowley and Aziraphale would match. I guess I spent more or less 3 hours on the lineart for each one of them (the clothes and the figures needed a lot of time), plus 1h30-2h on the colouring/shading for each one.

Be aware that in my first sketches for this project, Crowley and Aziraphale were supposed to train on the same ice rink, and I dearly wanted Crowley to be watching Aziraphale, and Aziraphale was supposed to glance back to him. I had to give up on this idea later – because the figure I chose for Aziraphale definitely couldn’t allow such a shared glance. (but, hello, it will be a triptyque ! So, guess what? About the third part… :-p)

About Aziraphale, as my « Falling Angel ».

« On Thin Ice » author, @blairamok, describes the Hydroplane ice skating figure as very representative of Aziraphale, and the drawing reference pictures were numerous enough to get some solid inspiration. It’s a complex skating figure. I have watched some ice skating tutorials on YouTube – because I wanted the movement of the clothes and hair to be accurate and, if I understand everything properly, even a slight alteration in the position of the arms can make you fall. Such perfection ! That IS the right move for Aziraphale !

I told sooner on my Gymnast !AU challenge that I appreciated drawing Aziraphale with realistic curves more and more each day – even if it still triggers me sometimes about my own shaming roundnesses. I realised my way of doing art – and my mind too, maybe - was evolving when I got back to check references in the amazing Blair artworks (link AO3). A few months ago, I felt insecure watching Blair’s Aziraphale, which seemed to me too much plump and very soft – not a « good sportive look », I thought then. But now I like him more and more, so maybe my way of thinking is changing, and I think this is for the very best.

My Aziraphale is performing a difficult figure, so he is using all his muscles into maintaining his balance. He seems so statuesque, so powerful, yet very focused and oblivious to the world around him, with his eyes shut. That is why he couldn’t share a glance with my Crowley. T.T

Maybe this is my way to guess Aziraphale’s behavior in the so-awaited « On Thin Ice » next chapters. Focused on his own training, trying to ignore Crowley’s sassyness but still secretly impressed by his partner’s skills. Because they share the same love for Ice Skating, even if they don’t show it in the same way.

Blair, if you ever read this, thank you. For your artworks, for making us dream about a wonderful story that still remains to be told.

Thank you for « On Thin Ice », for your so-kind message last week, and for everything else.

I have faith. I’ll wait for your story. But even if it doesn’t exist yet, I am already dreaming about it, and this is priceless.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning [My Movie Review]

♡ ! SPOILER ALERT! ♡

This review will contain spoilers of the movie, continue reading if you already saw the movie, or just don’t mind the spoiler! Enjoy & comment something if you want to share an opinion! ♡

After what seemed ages of waiting, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning finally aired in Portugal, on May 16, 2024, several months after it’s national premiere in Japan, on October 27, 2023. I was worried that it wouldn't come to my country, but perhaps due to the huge acceptance of Digimon Adventure: LAST EVOLUTION KIZUNA, the distributor made the hearts of the DigiDestined from the most hidden corner of Europe warm again and brought us the sequel. Thank you remembering us once again! ♡

I really tried to keep my expectations as neutral as possible until the day I went to see the movie, which was pretty difficult, due to the fact that I was constantly being bombarded with online information about it, whether on Tumblr or Twitter, or through video recommendations on Youtube. I was so excited for the movie, that I had to control myself immensely not to go see the spoilers.

Initial considerations? I like it. In general. But let's go in parts!

This will be an analysis of what I consider to be the most important points of the movie and what caught my attention the most. A personal analysis, so don't take it too seriously if I don't talk about a certain point or a certain specific topic, I probably just missed that.

Firstly, I would like to comment on the initial dynamics of the movie.

Everything seems to happen much faster here than it did in Kizuna. Despite being two movies with practically the same time span, this one seemed to go by much faster. But it might just be me. [LAST EVOLUTION KIZUNA have 94 minutes, and The Beginning have 87 minutes total].

We're introduced to the key plot problem pretty quickly too.

People's digital devices are glitching, and the same message is repeating itself on all of them, not just on the phones and televisions, but on computers and large digital screens in cities all around the world. And this all around the world is very important, because it not only brings us closer to what will be the future of humanity and it’s increasing contact with the Digimon and the Digital World, but it opens the path we take since 2012 [time of the movie] until to the epilogue of 02 (which the production team and Toei animation seem to insist on wanting to keep canon, despite all the script inconsistencies it can cause, or how different from the initial profile of each character it may be).

“May everyone have friends, may everyone have a partner Digimon”

It's the message. Meanwhile, we are told that a suspicious and unknown Digitama appeared in the sky of Tokyo, right above the Tokyo Tower, and it’s been there for a while. Taichi and Koushiro are showned to be trying to help resolve this issue as professionals in the field of diplomacy and technology respectively, but without major progress.

I think it's important to highlight that they are the only two characters from the first season of Adventure who appear in this movie, and even so, without any direct speech or great relevance, beyond contextualization, and later Taichi as well again for the context of “space- time”, in that frame we see in the trailer of the movie with Hikari, which we later discover is located in Hikarigaoka, where Rui also lived when he had his first contact with Ukkomon.

The focus is on the characters from 02, or at least, it should have been. But as in Digimon Adventure Tri, this focus is overshadowed by the introduction of another new character in the story: Rui Owhada [or Lui, in Japanese pronunciation].

Rui [or Lui] is a much more charismatic character than Meiko was in Digimon Adventure Tri. There is no doubt about that.

Meiko was a somewhat empty character. A static character without great charisma. The only pleasant scenes she had were driven by the other characters around her (namely Mimi).

Rui doesn't. Rui is a character on his own. With a much more aggressive personality and a much more interesting past. The only issue here is the length of the movie: This movie is too short; too short for us to get attached to this character and actually be able feel empathy for everything we are shown about him. So short, that it's difficult to develop both this new character and the others around him, which, by the way, is a shame.

I mostly went to see the movie in hopes to see more from the 02 cast, and not because, again, of a random character they created for this new script. Just like what happened in Tri.

And this is important because notice that one of the most complex and best-built characters in the Adventure universe is literally the character with the most screen time: Takeru.

Analyzing Takeru's character as a whole is extremely time-consuming, because he was in every season, and practically involved in all the main events of the plot, either by himself or through the relationships he establishes throughout the plot, which feed the character's emotional charge. Which makes him a very complex character.

There's no time for that here. There is no time to establish a relationship between Rui and the other characters, nor to establish a relationship between Rui… and the audience.

Rui's childhood is very shocking and once again, Digimon brings a very strong narrative based on a complex and deep family plot.

We had already had examples in Adventure of family issues with Takeru and Yamato, Koushiro, and in 02 with Iori and also Ken. To a certain extent, even with Miyako. But here we reach a higher level of complexity... and violence (remember that the age to see the movie is over 12 years old. I can totally understand why).

Rui is physically abused and neglected by his mother, who leaves him out in the cold, starving when he makes a childish mistake or does something she doesn't like... when he is only four years old. His father has a very serious illness and depends on his wife to survive. Rui is then shown as a sorrowful child, lonely and without any support network. We've never had anything in the Digimon Adventure series so… raw. The aura of the movie is deeply heavy and dark.

The evolutions and battles in this movie are far from being the focus, which probably frustrated many people who went to see the movie for this more dynamic side of the anime.

It is a film with a moral content and even touches on the philosophical, about the bonds we create with others and their nature, about how we should relate to others and learn about them every day we have them in our lives.

It's about healthy communication, and how it's okay to correct the people around us, as long as it's made based with pure intentions. Because love is not omissive. Love corrects, love draws the other's attention for what really matters, in the form of love. In the form of companionship. Nothing physical or superficial is worth the price of a real bond.

The movie really grew with it’s audience. It is not, at all, a movie targeted for new fans of the franchise, or for those who know little about the Adventure series universe. It's for those who know the characters, for those who grew up with them. If you don't know the characters, you will miss details and conversations that are important to really understand the plot as a whole.

Daisuke and Ken look on Rui’s past with him. They see the arrival of Ukkomon in his life, who should’ve bring peace and comfort, but it is only the beginning of all his problems.

Let's take a break from the movie's plot to talk about the characters of 02.

I'm going to divide them into groups, because it seems like they individually… don't have much progress or very memorable scenes, honestly. It doesn't even make sense to separate them, in my opinion, and you'll understand why.

♡ Daisuke & Iori

There is not much to talk about them here. Daisuke and Iori are the flattest characters in the movie. Iori much more than Daisuke, let's be honest. Iori barely speaks, and has very few relevant scenes.

Daisuke works at a ramen restaurant, as he always wanted, where he gathers his friends to talk about the problems they are facing right at the beginning of the movie.

His personality is practically the same, Daisuke from 02 is the same Daisuke from The Beginning, and even the same character as in Kizuna, he is just taller here and wears different clothes. He still aspires to have his own ramen business and is extremely focused on his career goals. Which was predictable, given the way he talks about his dream in 02.

Daisuke's only two relevant scenes are seconds long: the first when he convinces Rui that the bond of friendship he and his Digimon partner share is much more than something superficial; it's something that comes from the heart, and that no object makes a difference between them, namely the Digivice, (something we also expected to hear from Daisuke in 02, which justifies my opinion that in the meantime... he remains the same).

The other is a scene that had enormous potential, but is cut short by a comical moment in which Miyako pops up.

Daisuke is talking to Ken seriously about Rui, and how he and his Digimon could understand each other better if they just communicate more effectively and directly, and Ken comments that Daisuke's more serious side is very pleasant and rarely appears. However, Miyako speaks up and dismisses the subject. Sadly.

We could have had a conversation here that could tell us more about Daisuke’s presente self and way he sees life now.

*sigh* Anyway.

Iori, again, doesn't speak much. Seems to only have intermediary interventions, and serves as a “pair” for Daisuke and Rui in the snowball fight that we see at the end of the movie. A very beautiful scene, don't get me wrong, but only if we see it from the perspective of Ken and Miyako, and Hikari and Takeru. I'll talk about that now.

♡ Ken & Miyako

Ken and Miyako are two characters who seem to grow more together than apart within the movie's plot. Which is natural, given that we know at the end of 02 that they become in fact a couple, and that they build a family together in the future. Here we see the first steps towards their future as a couple.

As expected, nothing explicit or direct is given to us about the nature of their relationship, but we can understand that there is progress, especially by the end of the movie, before the snowball fight, when Miyako tells Ken something that seems extremely vague, but actually means something.

“Let's do it together! " What? I don't think they are aware yet. Ken also seemed very confused about it.

“ Keep thinking Ken, we have to find another solution. “ We also see Miyako trying to support Ken at that moment when they have to make a decision about the future of Ukkomon and the world.

Here comes what I said above: Love cannot be omissive. We cannot expect the least from those we love. If we know the potential of the person we have by our side, we have to support them. If we see that they are trying to go further, we must support their journey and be a source of advice and rest. Alone we can go faster, but with the right company we can certainly go further.

And I think this is where the movie touches on something really important.

It is in these small moments that we see that they really want to tell the audience something beyond, but we need to have a fine power of perception.

No conversation or comment is random, everything contributes to the story. Digimon Adventure has always been made up of metaphors and subjectivities, it is necessary to know how to interpret and be attentive.

In the midst of that dilemma of whether or not to defeat Ukkomon that we talked about a moment ago in relation to Ken and Miyako, we have another moment that I consider important between Takeru and Hikari, which for those who don't know the characters, can take it as a normal conversation of two people who know each other well. Too well, even.

♡ Takeru & Hikari

Keeping in mind their journey, and everything they went through together, is the key to understand the nature of the relationship they share now. But before that:

Much like Ken and Miyako, Takeru and Hikari do not exist separately in the plot. It's ridiculously difficult to separate them. If you talk about one, you have to talk about the other.

At the beginning we see them together in the city when the electronic devices break down, and this dynamic continues throughout the entire movie.

They practically always walk side by side, Hikari takes the front seat in Takeru's car, and even when they are talking to Rui and trying to understand what happened to him in his past, they were a nucleus apart from the others. Nothing new, really. More of the same. But it's in that conversation I spoke about earlier that we understand something that is even part of the main moral of the movie: the way they now communicate with each other now, is different.

Anyone who has followed Takeru and Hikari throughout the series knows that the main “problem” in their relationship has always been direct communication.

Exposing things to others as they are is scary. And none of them were good at doing that.

Deliberating about feelings, exposing what disturbs us, what distresses us, what we think of a certain attitude of the other person. That was always Takeru and Hikari's problem and what hindered the possible evolution of their friendship, into a real love relationship.

In Tri we discover that Hikari starts to look at Takeru differently. And we know that Takeru has concrete feelings for Hikari (Said by the actor who plays Takeru's voice) And then? It's done? Things… are much more complicated than that.

They first need to accept the situation in question (And I tell you this as someone who also developed a romantic relationship with a childhood friend. It's not easy. Trust me. It's far from easy!)

And far from being quick.

It requires a lot of deliberation mostly. Just accepting the fact that we see that person we grew up with differently, someone who has always been part of our life, and we can lose them. Just because we developed feelings. Is scary. There's a lot to lose. It's all or nothing. Especially when one side has trauma associated with romantic relationships. (remembering that Takeru's parents are divorced) it's even worse.

What seems to exist between them in The Beginning was the result of a long process. But effective, it seems to me. Whatever decision they made, it went… pretty well.

Takeru is completely against defeating Ukkomon, from the moment he realizes that this could also imply the disappearance of his Digimon partner.

He probably saw the suffering Taichi and Yamato went through when Agumon and Gabumon disappeared and the suffering he would go through if he lose Patamon... again. And he is extremely vocal and firm in what he says and what he thinks about all of that. Impulsive really.

Until Hikari intervenes. Which cuts through his catastrophic reasoning. She asks him to think, opening up a new perspective on the situation.

Here we have a conversation between them that is quite lengthy (compared to the fast action standard of the rest of the movie) in which Hikari tries her best to make Takeru use reason and not emotion in his deliberation on the situation.

Takeru who, remember, whenever “darkness” or “sacrifice” is mentioned, leaves his rationality aside, becomes blind with pain because of his past traumas.

Hikari's role here is almost the same as Miyako’s in Ken's case: calling to earth and calming Takeru, always in an understanding way, because you can see that she knows where that feeling comes from and that position initially adopted by him (and it is something which she can almost predict would happen, by the speed with which she responds) but she knows that he is better than those triggers that make him impulsively speak based on emotion and neglect reason.

It's about getting to know each other. Knowing how to talk to our person about the most difficult topics. Because it is necessary to strengthen your union. Predict reactions, and be there to calm them down, because you may even know that the person is not to blame for the feelings and traumas they carry, but believe that they are bigger than them. And expect the same from the other side.

The way Miyako knew that Ken could find a solution, he just needed to think a little more. Hikari understood perfectly where Takeru's impulsive reaction came from, but she knew that if she appeal to his racional side he would be able to think of a better alternative to the problem, which he thought would be the end of the world.

That's why I separated this analysis into groups (although the first one isn't... substantial) and decided to analyze the characters together, because that's what this movie is about.

It's about who you are with your people, and the bond you share with them. In a world so individualized, so selfish and so distant (largely because of technology, which distances us from each other), I found it a very necessary message.

And the role of adults? With children and more painful lives?

It is to understand that children are also humans. Who also think, and feel, and understand things. Just like them. Adults tend to forget that they were once children themselves.

We already saw this topic being developed in Adventure 02, but seeing Rui as an adult, reaching to his mother in the past, and drawing her attention to the fact that she neglects her son, is something very touching. Sometimes, we just need a wake-up call, and we can change the future. Ours, and our future with others.

The DigiDestined of 02 encouraged Rui not to give up on someone he loved, Ukkomon, because after all, he only acted the way he acted because he thought it would make Rui happier, even though he failed. Several times.

Ukkomon basically gave Rui everything he thought he needed, everything he wanted. But this is not always ideal.

He acted with his partner's happiness in mind, and this blinded him to the risks he was putting him into. He idealized their entire relationship, and everyone's relationship with him. Instead of being, real. And real things are never perfect.

Rui wanted friends? He gave him friends. He even reprogrammed his parents. They became manufactured humans. And the movie is about reality and accepting it as imperfect as it is.

Do you know what that reminded me of? That whole fantasy created by Ukkomon of “perfect world where Rui is never sad and everything is wonderful?” The fantasies in which the characters from 02 cast were trapped in at the end of the series. That world created with the characters’ deepest desires.

Takeru wanted his family united. Iori wanted his father back and to be able to show him the Digital Word. Miyako wanted attention. Ken… wanted to redeem himself. Hikari wanted peace. It's exactly the same thing.

Think about it with me: For example, Takeru's parents could’ve stay together, they could never have divorced, but they would still have problems. They would argue, and there would be conflicts. Which doesn't mean that this wouldn't traumatize their children even more. Maybe the divorce was in fact the best option for all four of them.

Ken felt he deserved the same suffering he inflicted on others. Would that really be the answer to appease his soul?

But none of it was real.

Not even Hikari's utopia of a world constantly at peace is real. Not even the absence of siblings in Miyako's life would solve anything. Things are not black and white and really, what we want is not always what we need.

Rui just needed to talk to Ukkomon and be sincere.

Where is Mimi tho?!

I will end with a few quick notes that I think are worth highlighting: First, the music and animation in general. As expected, they are excellent.

Very well done visually, appealing scenes, and the last snowball fight scene is so simple… but so delightful.

Life is made up of beautiful moments as well as tragic moments, light and darkness.

Did you notice that part of the movie takes place in a much dark environment, and when the main action is resolved, the movie gains light? I believe that is not just because!

Visually it can be very strong because there is blood, there is violence, there are physical wounds, it conveys the affliction in a very literal way.

Another thing that was expected to happen, but that probably wasn't even thought of properly when the Epilogue of 02 was made, was the problematic of whether or not everyone deserves, has enough morals and ethics, to have a Digimon partner.

How do you maintain peace between humans when you give them free access to machines of war and mass destruction? How do we build the world we see bz the end of 02 where everyone lives in peace even under these circumstances? Which is the the role of the government?

We'll probably need one more movie to find out.

Honestly, I hope you enjoyed this short (not... that short in fact) and sincere review. If I were to give stars, I would give the film 4/5 stars.

It could’ve been better, sure, if there was at least another half hour of animation.

But I don't complain. Despite that, I liked it. I cried, I laughed, just like I cried and laughed when I saw Digimon in my childhood, and that's everything for me. I was surprised by the message of the movie and the way they chose to visually convey it to us. Either way, I hope there's one more movie. To finally conclude the arc of all these characters, and finally, reach the epilogue of 02 (but in a dignified way please).

Dan and Phil are vlog YouTubers (although they did start a gaming channel) who were REALLY famous in the 2010s and then started popping off again recently.

They became online friends first, ✨ through the magic of the internet ✨ and then at some point in 2009 Dan boarded a train to come see Phil, and then just kind of...never left? He went to college but it was near Phil's house and he spent more time at Phil's house than his dorm, with most of his stuff there. It started as him coming by regularly to "do his laundry" in Phil's washing machine but then he just kinda. Latched onto him like moss

According to a more recent video when Dan went on his we're all doomed tour, the longest that had been apart before then, SONCE 2009, was like a week. Girl.

Anyways they started doing videos together and eventually became one of the BIG YouTube channels , and also started getting shipped under the shipname "Phan". Far from being repulsed by this, they went out of their way to stalk Tumblr tags and read fanfiction in their videos, even featuring well done fanart. Even outside of Phan, like, they had a thing where for a bit every video would feature a drawing where someone drew Phil naked and they called it "today's draw Phil naked". That being said they regularly claimed to like women and be straight.

There was also some truthing and harassment with some of the more disrespectful Phan shippers who didn't follow the rules of RPF, because a lot of people didn't really know how to go about it back then and also there were some genuine assholes. So that was less fun then the normal shipping.

They launched a gaming channel at some point in I think 2016? And also released a book and a tour, which is available on DVD also.

Then they went on hiatus, and it was radio silence for YEARS .....UNTIL ......

THEY BOTH RELEASE COMING OUT VIDEOS AND COME OUT AS GAY.

Dan also talked about how it was "obvious that we're more than just friends" and everyone knew it, because. Yeah. And says that they're also more than romantic- SOULMATES, destined to be together, put on this earth so they could meet online and become Dan and Phil. Okay girl

They regularly make references to loving each other but refuse to specifically, in plain terms, tell the press they are dating, because of privacy reasons. Some people think it's a "we only want the people who get it to get it" situation, some people think their relationship is actually queerplatonic or something, but regardless there's something queer going on and they aren't hiding that anymore, nor the fact that they are life partners, but wether or not they apply a traditional "boyfriend" label to it is something they refuse to answer. Which is honestly ICONIC???

They designed a house together, had it built, and now live there together in their lovely phouse, and have also started adding the prefix "ph" to things to denote that they're Dan and Phil or Phandom related, something the Phans have also picked up. The regularly make jokes about Phan and also about not just having sex, but even their specific dynamic? Phil is apparently a pillow princess who Dan doms. Like. Okay.

They're notoriously co-dependent, they go everywhere together, if one person opens their phone the other will also look because everything they own is shared and they just use apps together like that? Like. Phil will get a text or vice versa and they'll BOTH LOOK and respond. They also tag all their posts on Instagram as shared like, basically ever since that's been a feature.

They bicker a lot and it's so silly,,, poggers

They ALSO are well known for dropping massive bombshells on their fanbase or being chaotic to them for fun. Tormenting them back for the phanfiction, as it were.

Anyway. In 2015 there was a famous Tumblr heritage post called "but seriously imagine it" where someone said this

Today marks the 15th anniversary of Dan and Phil's first meetup, that fateful day when Dan got off that train and first saw Phil in person....but it ALSO is, wildly, a day where later tonight in American Time (so most people farther up will be asleep), all of the bands in this post are performing on the same stage.

Dan and Phil have REFERENCED THIS POST recently in the leadup to this and even brought a cardboard cutout of Gerard Way out at one of their shows, so the phandom is BUZZING because of the possibility of some stunt related to the post, AND the fact it's also ON THEIR PHANIVERSARY.

this has kicked off the Phantoberfest/Pharmageddon where everyone has the same profile picture, and also lots of edits celebrating 15 years, lots of memes, and general shit posting and panic as everyone anticipates whatever shit these guys are about to get up to next.

nykki (martin necas' girlfriend) just posted some sort of q&a on her youtube channel and from the translation of the title, she should be talking about the nhl too, could you perhaps watch it and translate the interesting bits for us since its in czech?

I have said it in the past already, but Nykki is genuinely one of the most sensible, down-to-earth, and level-headed WAGs I have seen on social media, so her answers were impressive and definitely worth hearing:

She answered the question about how she and Martin met:

Said that it is the most-asked question she gets - "My theory is that some of the people, who are asking me that, probably want to date a hockey player and they don't know how to do that. Personally, I wouldn't go for a hockey player." (she is so real laughing her ass off during that last part)

She would really want to have some sort of romantic story, but they literally started dating because he was constantly liking her photos, then DMed her on Instagram, they started texting and FaceTiming for several months before they actually saw each other in real life and started dating like two months after.

Talked about what it is like living as a (European) WAG, who moved to the US because of her boyfriend:

The players are away for half of the month during the season, so they don't see each other as often as people may think.

It was really hard for her to make friends among the other WAGs in the first year.

Overall, she expressed that she really struggled the first year and even thought that she wouldn't be able to live like that, wanting to go back home.

She also found it really hard to understand the "NHL lifestyle" (said that the term alone seems silly to her to this day) - "It is an extremely particular group of people. Even among the girls, in the room where we meet during the games, there are so many unspoken rules. I am an open book, I like to share my thoughts, and I hate small shallow talks, but I understood quite quickly that it doesn't work like that here and you can't trust everyone. It is everywhere like that - when you come to a room where there are twenty-five girls, at the end of the day, you only get along with a few of them, and I didn't understand that in the beginning. I kinda burned myself."

She can't have a work permit in the US and neither can all the European WAGs because their visas are officially under their partners - said that it is extremely hard for everyone to get a work permit in the US, but for them, it is practically impossible. A lot of other WAGs have tried, they poured a lot of money into the lawyers, and no one, she knows, has so far succeeded.

Where it is possible for the WAGs to obtain work permits, is in Canada - during this part, she also joked that Martin doesn't have a contract for the next year, so maybe they could move there.

Because of this whole work permit issue, she started doing social media, producing music, and writing scripts for some sort of company (the last two I understood are jobs in the Czech Republic, which she does online), making her own money.

She also said that life in Raleigh, North Carolina is quite uneventful compared to Prague, where she is from - however, she is also aware of the fact, that Raleigh is a quite safe place to live and that she can be glad for it because it's not like that everywhere in the States (as she knows from the experiences of other WAGs).

She also answered money-related questions as many people think that her boyfriend pays for everything in her life:

It is crazy for her that some people think that she is dating him only for the money - said that she didn't move across the Atlantic, away from her family and friends, and the established life she had in the Czech Republic, because of designer bags.

Said that all the WAGs (not just hockey ones) always showcase their life on social media to people who follow them in a manner that makes it seem better than it actually is - posting how they go to the games, how they all have their hair done, designer handbags...

She emphasized that they do have it really easy in a lot of things, and that it actually bothers her (personally she wouldn't be able to bear being financially dependent on her boyfriend - at least that's what I think she meant), but that there are also a lot of disadvantages, for example, if she is going to have kids one day in the States, their grandparents aren't going to see them because they are on the other side of the Atlantic.

At the end of the NHL-related segment, she brought up the question "what would you do if you broke up?"

She emphasized that she is one of the lucky ones because she has managed to find a way how to make a living on her own so this question doesn't really worry her because her life would simply continue, just back in Prague, not in the USA, but that many of the girls are studying in the States or just living there with their boyfriends and solely because of their boyfriends, and that once they break up, it is extremely difficult for them.

The day had been horrible.

The morning had started off with an attack from an enemy Stand User, who beat the ever-living crap out of your all. You all went to lunch to try and remedy the horrible start, but you had spilled yours over the ground. And then, as you were finding a hotel for the night, you managed to trip so bad you almost knocked Kakyoin into a foul-smelling canal.

And then--oh then there was the matter of you feeling just so horribly insecure the whole day. Not only had your legs decided to stop working properly, but also because your shirt felt too tight around your body. A shirt you picked and pulled and tugged at to keep it from showing off too much of your body to the world. A world you couldn’t help but think was looking at you and judging.

It didn’t help when a stunningly beautiful person came up to the group to flirt with Polnareff. Polnareff who was your partner. But the Frenchman was too nice and hadn’t said a word to shoo them off until Jotaro snapped at them to get hell out of there because they’re voice was grating on his last nerves.

They were a person you couldn’t help but feel--envious of because, not only were they beautiful, but they were slim--near stick thin. It was a green emotion you hated to feel towards another person but when they were flirting with Polnareff like that you couldn’t help it and it made you feel just so much worse.

And the cherry on top of your terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day was when you caught the last bit of a conversion the group was having about you.

“They are a liability.” Is what Jotaro had gruffed to the other Crusaders before Polnareff found you making your way back over. His frown had turned into a bright smile and he greeted you happily, as if trying to distract you from the fact they had been talking about you. He placed sweet kisses on either of your cheeks before snagging the key to your shared room from Mr. Joestar’s hand and guiding you away.

And now you couldn’t find anything to wear for dinner. Nothing seemed to be looking the way it usually did. Everything seemed to point out your curves in a way that just had your anxieties and insecurities increase.

You stood in front of the full-length mirror in your hotel room, yanking at the fabric of the newest outfit you had thrown. Tears burned at your eyes as you tried your hardest to calm down and to just go with it but after all of the day's hardships, you couldn’t help it.

“Andddd perfection!” You heard Polnareff cheer from within the bathroom. He had been working on his hair for just as long as you had been struggling to find an outfit, a wait you were used to when it came to him and his hair. “What do you think?” He asked, coming out of the bathroom to stand behind you. He struck a pose in the mirror that only made his muscles look all the more powerful--though that cheesy, goofy grin of his only made him look like the lovable doofus he was.

“Uh--yeah.” You managed to get out past the tightening of your throat. You tugged again at your clothes, trying to hide yourself from him.

A liability.

What if he thinks so too?

What if he thinks you're too big? What if he doesn’t like you anymore? What if he takes one look at you and decides he doesn’t like what he sees?

What if, what if, what if?

A warm hand gently grabbed your shoulder, pulling you from your endless stream of negative thoughts. Your eyes were blurred as you tried to refocus them, but as you blinked you couldn’t help their escape down your cheeks.

“What's wrong, mon ange?” Polnareff asked as he guided you to turn to face him. He bent down, those gray eyes looking directly into your own. Eyes just full of so much worry and concern for you. Eyes that told you he was more than ready to defend you against whatever was upsetting you and it only made your heart twist more painfully in your chest.

He was too good for you. Too handsome and too kind and too--too him and you were just you.

“Am--am I a liability?” You managed to get out wobbly. Polnareff’s eyes hardened the slightest bit at the question.

“You--heard that?” More tears fell from your eyes then, your hands grabbing for your outfit again, trying to keep it off your skin.

Too tight, too tight.

“Is--Is it because I’m like this? I’m not--I’m not as fit as you all--and--I just drag you all down and you could have anyone--be with someone thinner and nothing fits me. Everything’s going to shit a-and--” Polnareff brought a hand up to cover your mouth and stopped your constant negativity against yourself.

“Stop that. Stop that right now.” He all but commanded, his voice stern. A sob bubbled up out of your throat you couldn’t find the will to stop. “Be with someone else?” His voice shifted then. Shifted softer--almost like he was hurt by your words. “I could never do better than you, mon ange. Never. I do not care what you look like. That doesn’t matter to me at all.”

Pity. He was just pitting--

“Hey--hey stop that,” Polnareff said, caughting you before you could spiral downward again. “You are perfect. Your beauty is more perfect than words can describe--it's a beauty only art could ever hope to capture.” And he looked so sincere. A sincerity that was only confirmed by the look in his eyes that only true feeling could replicate. You shakily moved his hand from your mouth.

“But--what about that person? Wouldn’t you rather be with them?” Polnareff shook his head, his hand moved so that he could rub soothing circles into your wet cheek. A touch you instantly lean into.

“Never. I want you. I only want to be with you. You get me like no other could.” Polnareff said, leaning closer. That smile you loved beyond anything you’ve ever loved pulled to his lips then. “Who else would go searching every shop in the city without rest until they found my brand of hair gel?” You huffed in amusement, the ache in your chest slowly beginning to ease.

“Your hair just doesn’t like other brands.” Polnareff chuckled as he cupped your face in his hands. He pulled closer and placed the softest and sweetest kiss on your forehead. A kiss that made your belly flutter and your heart begin to stutter in your chest.

“See. You get me.” That smile of his never once faltered and his eyes never once left your own.

“And about what you overhead,” Your heart dropped at its remention. “It wasn’t what you think. It has nothing to do with your looks and everything to do with the fact that you nearly knocked poor Kakyoin into the canal today…” You cringed a little bit at the memory, feeling all to bad for the boy. He had been so sweet about it, but had Star Platinum not caught him he would have nose-dived into the grimy water.

“....and how you nearly knocked Jotaro into a busy street the other day…and how you dragged Mr. Joestar with you into a pitch…and knocked Avdol into a street lamp…oh and when you stepped on Iggy, though, he deserved that, the demon.” Polnareff hissed at the mention of the dog. It only made you huff in amusement at his rivalry with the animal, who hadn’t caused you too much trouble.

“If they didn’t know better, they would think you are trying to kill them.” He said, with a chuckle, gray eyes scanning over your features. “You aren’t some enemy Stand User I have to defeat, right?” You rolled your eyes, playfully hitting his shoulder. It only made the Frenchman laugh again, his hands grabbing for your wrists to pull you right back in.

“If they keep getting in my way I might just switch sides.” You teased. Polnareff’s laugh only grew harder. A laugh that shook through your very soul. One so cheery and bright and never failed to brighten your own mood.

“Joatro is just blunt in his words, you know this.” You nodded, thinking about all the times he had cursed at you or told you to shut up. “No one truly thinks you're a liability and it absolutely has nothing to do with your weight. I need you to know that.” He said, beginning to caress the inside of your wrists in a way that made you feel so cared for. Loved and accepted. “And mon ange--you look so breathtaking tonight. A perfect choice in outfit.” You felt your body begin to heat in your growing flusteredness.

“O-oh--thank--”

“The only better option would be if you were to go in your birthday suit.” He said with a wiggle of his eyebrows and a mischievous gleam in his eyes.

His hands began moving from up your arms and over your shoulder, making their way down your back in a way that made a shiver rush down your spine. His hands continued their journey down your back until they grabbed hold of your waist, giving your hips a tight squeeze as he yanked you forward swiftly. A yelp fell from your lips as you braced your hands on his broad chest to keep yourself from crashing into its near brick wall-like solidness.

“Pol--” You started but him leaning down to brush his nose against you had your words dying in your throat.

“Maybe we should skip dinner altogether, hum? Please, mon coeur? Let’s just stay in and you could model that suit--” You cut him off with a sharp swat of his hands and a push to keep him away because the longer you stayed in his grasp the more your heart felt like it would beat right out of your body. The more you thought you were going to burn alive and fall into a pile of ash at his feet.

“Get out of here. Of course, we are going to dinner.” You all but breathed in your flusteredness, smoothing a hand over your clothes.

“But, mon ange, please--” He started, his eyes growing into those big puppy dog eyes you had never once been able to say no to. You were quick to look away from their power, grabbing for your shoes to keep yourself on track.

“No. You were just complaining about how hungry you were.” You huffed, yanking on one of your shoes.

“But, but--I would rather starve then--”

“Come on.” You insisted, pulling on your last shoes before you glanced back to him. He was pouting dramatically like that might change your mind. “If you behave…maybe when we get back.” Polnareff was quick to perk up at this, all but jumping to grab hold of your hand and pull you out of your hotel room.

“I am always on my best behavior.” Polnareff declared proudly. You only chuckled, linking your arm around his and holding him close.

“Sure, love.” You chuckled.

my guide to making scripts ☆

i’ve had my fair share of making scripts (cause i'm obsessed) so i thought i’d share how i make them (with examples)

btw i make my scripts on notion^^

general things to add

- so first, choose the aesthetic you want. it can be something like “black and white grunge” or “green forest”. i get most of my pictures from Pinterest cause that’s where most high quality photos are ofc. so for the icons i always put “icons” after whatever aesthetic im going for because the search shows square photos. if you don’t want to add a photo for every page you have, you can just look up smth like “solid black background” (specifically solid cause if not it’ll give you a photo instead).

- for photos to add throughout the script i highly suggest going to tumblr cause you'll get higher quality photos. you technically could use pinterest, too but you might not find a decent quality photo. you might have to scroll a bit depending on what you're looking for but you shouldn’t have a problem finding what you need 🤷🏾‍♀️ (keep in mind that depending on how small the photo is, it might turn out with bad quality)

-this part is optional considering your scripts will still look pretty without it, but if you want to, you can add dividers. not just the ones that are on notion but a colorful one once again those can be found on tumblr (if you intend on sharing the script make sure to give credit to who made the dividers!!). i haven't quite figured out how to make them hence why i dont add them to every script cause they dont always have the color i want

(i personally prefer the solid color once for aesthetic reasons, but its totally up to you which divider you want to use)

-next that i like to add are symbols. you can easily find those by searching up "copy and paste symbols" and something should pop up. try to refrain from using language characters cause from what i've heard it can be offensive. go for something like a heart or a star (stars are my personal go-to)

-i usually add the symbols in the title and on the toggle lists (yes my safe word is “back to the ghetto” LMFAO)

structuring

so my scripts are always set up like this:

personal: basics, appearance, personality, wardrobe, backstory, house/car

relationships: family, friends, partner, pets

media (this part is optional depending on what year you're shifting to): phone, tiktok, instagram, twitter, youtube

extra: safety, first day, scenarios

depending on the dr it is, i'll usually add an extra section. so for example if i'm shifting to a dr where i go to school ill add a section labeled "school" and have the class, dorms (if you have any), backpack, and whatever extra stuff about the school.

if i have a dr where i have powers or something then i would add a section for that with the pages named combat (where you can add how you fight and what abilities you have), how you inherited your powers (you can also add to this section if you're a hero, villain, vigilante,etc), if you are a hero or something then you can add another page with what your suit looks like and then add the extra gadgets you have along with it

(i'll use my spiderverse and mha script as an example so you can see what i'm talking about)

details i had throughout the script

colored texts: so when im highlighting something important like my dr name, nicknames, mbti, etc

dividers: im telling you dividers make everything look sm more neat. it doesn't even have to be a colored one it could be the notion divider

bold texts: i feel like this just makes things look more aesthetically pleasing idk

a hint i learned: you can put texts right next to each other

anyways i think that's all the tips i have to give when it comes to scripts, if you have any questions pls lmk ^^

i also made a script that you guys can use for reference and if you plan on using it as a script make sure to duplicate it (the option to do that is on the top right of the screen)

Law of Assumption: My success, How it did it & you can too!

Okay so I saw a lot of screenshots of law of assumption work from tumblr on Pinterest so I decided to get back on here but start a new blog! This will be for law of assumption and college <;3

Successes

I wanted to share my success story because who doesn’t love a good success story?

YEARSS ago when I was like 18-19 I started law of assumption but was very much in a stuck place. My mental health really wasn’t the best in my honest opinion and I was just dreaming for something to happen. Id go out with my friends every once and a while which was great! But I knew I wanted love, be out my moms house I just wanted more in life.

Fast forward to me being 19 but my 20th birthday was coming up. I had manifested a prior relationship but that had went south quick and I was heartbroken. I knew I wasn’t doing the best with my mental diet. I decided to buy coaching from a well known YouTubers team. (So it wasn’t her herself but one of the people that work alongside with her she had a ton of coaches). Long story short I ended up getting scammed but they did bring up some good questions During “consulting” I’ve never though to ask.

So boom I decided I’m gonna get it and I’m gonna get it today. I wrote down exactly how I felt, what I wanted in a partner (I’m talking down to the hair and eye color I was playing build a man Lmaoo). Either that night or the day after I met someone on tinder. I didn’t know where it was gonna go but he fit everything that I had written down. The rest was history!

Now we have our own house (manifested), a daughter, he has a good job that pays for everything(manifested) , we are both in school and our salaries are gonna be AMAZING when we are done. Does that mean I’m done with manifesting? No not at all. Though I have everything I wanted (and a few surprises that turned out for the better), we as humans never stop manifesting. I wanna be at the top and then some. Retire when I want to and live amazing when doing it. Having generational wealth and my kids not ever having to worry about homelessness or anything I ever went through. And that’s why I created this blog as a manifest with me!

I’m running out of time and I don’t wanna make this post hella long so I’ll explain the hows in the next post. But I wanted to conclude by saying I know there are a ton of law of assumption blogs, YouTubers information etc. but I wanted to share what worked for me and give people new perspectives to look at. Maybe someone will resonate with the what I have done, the advice/ tips I’ll give and the help they may receive from me.

I’ll try my best to push the hows and going forward in a little while. For now I have to work on school.

(screm) This one is just… It exists solely to make me smile. I think it is very funny. Kim being an absolute hater about magic and the supernatural and teleportation… (chef’s kiss) I hadn’t appreciated how many lines he has about the supernatural he had before this. GOD.

Obviously, this piece was composed with the “you just climbed the ladder!” line in mind. Everything else got pulled into make that possible. This is also a piece where I swapped out the music halfway through.

Fun fact: the teleportation sound is actually two sound effects layered over each other, to give it that slow, dramatic build and then the sudden arrival. Kim’s SFX is just one singular effect, though.

I actually love this one so much that I’ve shared it with another human person—I played it for my partner one time because I was so pleased.

My only negative association with this piece is that I thought Kim said, “You just climbed it like a normal person.” I’m sad he doesn’t use those exact words because in my heart, Harry’s reply is “Ah-ha, you said I’m normal.”

My Favourite Reece Shearsmith Characters

So it's Reece Shearsmith's birthday today, so I decided to celebrate this by sharing some of my favourite characters played by this fantastically talented actor

These are in no particular order

Gregory Brewster - Him Indoors

Him Indoors is a short film about a serial killer with agoraphobia. Not only is the premise very interesting, Reece delivers a chilling yet very entertaining performance as the main character. It's on YouTube if you want to watch it, which I highly reccomend you do!

Tommy - Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room

This HAD to be on the list! Reece's performance as Tommy is heartbreaking, we watch a man seems to put-together and serious slowly fall apart and lose control of his calm façade - impeccable work

Sean Stone - Chasing Shadows

Admittedly, I don't know where the watch the full show, but I have seen clips and I knew I had to put it on this list because of Reece's portrayal of an autistic person. You can tell he put a lot of thought and research into it in order to give a realistic performance, which is a testament to his dedication and how much he truly cares about the roles he plays and who he's representing

Tyler - Riddle Of The Sphinx SPOILERS BELOW

If there's one thing Reece is good at, it's how to play a chilling villain. Everything about Tyler is unnerving and he manages to be terrifying without being loud or angry all the time. It's measured and the emotion builds and builds - fantastic work!

Joseph Lisgoe - The League Of Gentlemen

I've mentioned before that the debt collectors were underused, and I simply had to talk about how extraordinary Reece's performance as Lisgoe was. He completely dives into the roles he plays and this one was no exception, not even a light smashing on his closest friend stops him from carrying on a scene (just check out the outtakes!), he simply embodies the part and delivers a performance that terrifies the cast, crew and the audience

Laurence - Merrily Merrily SPOILERS BELOW

Merrily Merrily is an Inside No. 9 episode that I can never rewatched because of how empty it made me feel - and I mean that in the best way possible! Laurence is wracked with pain over the loss of his late partner, and Reece delivers such a subtle yet haunting performance that I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about it

Ross Gaines - The League of Gentlemen

Ross is such a fun character because of how manipulative, calculating and cold he is. Not only does it set him apart from the other inhabitants of Royston Vasey, it makes his scenes with Pauline all the more tense and entertaining - and Reece really does deliver in the role. I'm glad they decided to go with this casting choice

Aiden - Thinking Out Loud

Like with Laurence, Reece delivers a hauntingly stellar performance. What makes this one really special is that it's a monologue. There's nobody for him to bounce off of or react to, he has to reach those emotions himself. And, as always, he nails it

Ollie Plimsolls - The League Of Gentlemen

I've said before that I think Ollie is one of the most cleverly written League characters and I stand by that. As a representation of the Saviour Complex and self-righteousness of people in theatre, Ollie is a character that should be easy to hate... but because of Reece's expert comedic timing and delivery, he ends up being so funny that you can't help but laugh every time he's onscreen

SPECIAL MENTION: Gilbert - Betty Blue Eyes

Reece Shearsmith said in an interview that he wasn't a great singer. Reece Shearsmith is a liar. Don't believe me? Listen to The Kind Of Man I Am from Betty Blue Eyes and thank me later

Also, if you can find it, there's a short bootleg of him in The Producers which is good too!

Of course, this are just a few of his performances and he's never delivered a bad one - whether he's playing a comedic character like Archie in The Bill or a more serious one like in Borley Rectory. And we haven't even touched on his writing skills, I can't wait to see what he does next!

Who am i?

Hey everyone, it’s still me, Serhii. I thought it might be a good idea to write this post since some people have misunderstood my invitation to join the jam as a scam. So, I’ll tell you a bit about myself.

I’m 33 years old, I work at a hospital, and I live in Ukraine. TTRPGs are my passion, and I try to combine my love for them with doing something good.

Before 2022, our small group of 40 people used to play various games in Ukrainian on a local Discord server. Before the Russian invasion, the development of roleplaying games in Ukraine was almost nonexistent. We just played in local groups without much interaction. Meanwhile, there was a huge post-soviet russian-speaking space, and everything Ukrainian developers created benefited that sphere, despite the ongoing war since 2014.

However, the brutal invasion and shared hardship brought Ukrainians together. By spring and summer of 2022, after we gathered ourselves, we started building our own community. Since then, we’ve achieved quite a bit: offline and online festivals, our own games (even in English), over 30 translations of well-known and indie games, educational work, lectures, reviews, new YouTube videos, and of course, ongoing charity fundraising. Charity has become part of our daily lives because we know if we don’t donate, both we and our families and friends won’t survive.

Personally, I helped found Roleplay Solovinoiu, a Ukrainian-language group I started with my wife to promote RPGs here. We’ve hosted tons of online festivals, introduced people to games other than D&D, and I co-organized the international Roleplay Ukraine festival, which we’ve held twice: in 2023 and 2024. Hopefully, nothing will stop us from holding it again in May 2025.

I’ve also been involved in translating games into Ukrainian, like Lady Blackbird, Call of Cthulhu, Vaesen, Dune: Adventures in the Empire, Fallout 2d20, Lasers and Feelings, and some indie stuff. Soon, Durf will be released—we hoped to finish it this summer, but we had an unfortunate situation with our layout designer. And I’ve also made the best social deduction board game, but I’m not allowed to talk about that :).

Now, we’ve decided to organize a bundle to raise money to help Ukrainian hospitals. Since I work in a hospital, I can see the massive need that the government can’t fully cover right now. In the jam’s post, you’ll find pictures and stats on how many hospitals have been completely destroyed, and how many are still hanging on, despite the damage. We’ve partnered with one of the biggest charitable foundations and know that all the money will go directly to helping hospitals.

Ahh, a fellow Type Nine baker who relates to Lasko, my kinfolk. This may be a little biased then, but hand to heart, it’s gotta be Huxley for you.

Peacemakers tend to be diplomatic and thoughtful- sometimes to a fault, putting the needs of others ahead of their own. Huxley is a good match for you because he would never let that go too far, the king of taking care of his loved ones and being their rock. I also like that, if you don’t like kids, you’re definitely good with kids, and Huxley would love that in a partner and would just melt if he saw you reciting Goodnight Moon to a child from memory.

Huxley would be such a sweet partner to a baker. He raves about absolutely everything you make, calms you down when something goes awry as they inevitably do, goes out to the store when you had way less sugar than you thought you did, just an absolute treasure. Huxley constantly shares the leftovers with the DAMN-ily and his team, raving about you and your skills whenever he can. Also, he loves the story about the time you dressed your cat up for a tea party. As someone who definitely had a loving childhood with his moms, he’d love to hear about similar stories from yours and sharing his, revealing the parts of each other that existed before you two met, you know?
