Family Dinner
Splinter barging into the living room where Leo, Donnie, Frida, and Miwa are watching Lou Jitsu Movie.
Splinter: Kids, get ready!! We’re invited to meet April’s parents. So you guys better dress in business casual!
Splinter: Oh, I can even make my famous green bean casserole.
Splinter walked away from the room to make his dish.
Miwa: Wait you guys haven’t meet April’s parents?
Donnie: Sadly no, April was afraid they’ll freak and may forbid her from seeing us.
Miwa: oh make sense.
Leo: But you and mom were totally fine when you first meet us.
Miwa: Well, that’s because I was a weird kid being able to sense a yokai in their human disguise. Well mom just got used to it.
Leo: You’re still a weird kid, big sis.
Miwa: Shut Leon! *shoving Leo off the bean bag*
Donnie: That’s odd, April would have given us a heads up if she was going to finally talk to her parents about us?
Leo: I bet you this has to do with Mikey wanting to give Draxum a second chance.
Donnie and Miwa: *looks at each other* You’re on!
Miwa: *clapped hands* Alright ladies, let get ready or else dad gets mad. Leo can you be a dear and open a portal to my room.
Miwa looked at Frida.
Miwa: Hey Frida, do you have anything nice to wear? If not you can borrow some of my clothes.
Frida: I’m not going if this is to redeem Draxum.
Leo: Is it because of Mona?
Frida: Yes, he’s the reason for her mutation and her family abandoning her. So he doesn’t deserve a second chance.
Miwa: I understand, I’m not going to force you.
Donnie: The issue is Mikey, we known him longer than you guys but he won’t really understand. He’s an optimistic, he sometimes see the good in things.
Leo: So you not being there will crush him. Even if you don’t like his ideal, Mikey would rather you be there for moral support.
Leo: Another thing, I don’t want to be alone with these two nerds and dad dealing with Mikey’s “I can change them.” I need my favorite sister and triplet.
Miwa: You’re dead to me, Leon.
Donnie: I’ll remember that, Nardo.
Frida giggles
Leo: If Draxum try to act up just guilty trip him. Mona may have adjusted to her new life, but from what I heard from Leatherhead and Olivier, she still miss the life she was forced to leave behind.
Frida: Okay, I’ll go but just for moral support to our baby brother. *whisper* maybe make Draxum life miserable too.
Frida: Miwa, can borrow some clothes? I don’t have anything nice to wear.
Miwa: You got it little sis.
Splinter appearing out of blue, while Leo open a portal to Miwa room.
Splinter: Miwa, you’re heading home.
Miwa: Why?
Splinter: If orange hasn’t invited Tang Shen yet, please don’t tell your mother. I don’t want to make the dinner table awkward with divorce parents.
Miwa looking at her dad and siblings: oh yeah that’s totally the least of our worries.
Splinter: I knew you’ll understand. You guys better be dress and ready by the time my green bean casserole is ready.
Tumblr media
*Artist note*
Miwa is Lou Jitsu and Tang Shen illegitimate daughter. Lou and Tang eloped and after 2yrs they divorced because of Big Mama. Shen found out she was pregnant with Lou daughter after he disappeared. Tang Shen made sure Miwa kept the Hamato surname and this makes her the oldest sibling. Tang Shen is currently still alive.
Frida is Miwa and the boys long lost sister and Olivier’s assistant. In my version, the assistant we see in the serie is actually Big Mama’s adoptive daughter, Olivier’s, assistant. I also made Donnie, Leo, and Frida to be triplets.
Mona Lisa and Leatherhead also work for Olivier.

My Hazbin Hotel season 1 trailer breakdown
Been a while since I’ve done a breakdown for anything made by Vivziepop and with all the recent news about the first season of Hazbin Hotel, I thought I do one if not to just make a thing containing all my recent ideas I have about the upcoming season. Beware of “spoilers” and M rated content. Also long post warning
So I know the first season is going to be 8 episodes long, just like the first season of Helluva Boss, and the episodes will likely be 30 minutes long, which I strangely like more than the idea of hour long episodes. I recently discovered a Amazon series called “Vox Machina” and it’s also a series with 30 minute long episodes and if they can do it while being fun then so can Hazbin Hotel. I also know that the titles of the episodes are out, which I might bring up here and there.
We start with Alastor filming a commercial and I want to point that the knife doesn’t seem to be having an effect on that wing guy’s victim, fitting since besides angelic weapons, sinners are pretty much immortal so nice detail there. Heck the guy being stabbed doesn’t seem to mind XD.
It looks like the Extermination clock from the pilot is now a kind of Heaven Embassy, likely also acting as a portal for angels to go to Hell to talk to demon royals like Charlie and of course for the annual Exterminations. I wonder if it is possible for demons to enter a part of Heaven through it, like for meetings? I do recall an old Instagram pic of Vox and Val getting ready for something where they wore all white and I thought it strangely was telling us that there are meetings between beings of Heaven and Hell. Just a random though I wanted to put here.
Yeah it’s not a shock that Angel is still working for Valentino, but based on this trailer and other pics it looks like he will quit and though Valentino and Vox fail to get him back through a fight in one episode, it looks like Val will tempt Angel from a distance, giving us a story arc for Angel.
There’s Travis, who gets nervous at Angel talking back at Val. I wonder if he has a bigger role in the show, and in this case Val is going to blame him for Angel’s back talk?
Looks like Alastor is on friendly terms with that fear based Overlord. He is also with some Egg Bois likely trying to teach them something during that “Scrambled Eggs” episode.
Razzle and Dazzle! Also look at Husk trying to pull off a smile XD.
Yeah it has been made clear that Sir Pentious is now a member of the Hazbin crew, which is still a bit odd considering him and Angel fought last time they met and now they are going to interact a lot. I bet Pentious X Cherri shippers are happy about it through since it will lead to them interacting more.
So Adam is indeed a jerk. Not surprising but a bit worrisome when it comes to that leak from some time ago. Actually I wonder if it is one of the reasons why he is in charge of Exterminations and that he has to go to Hell (maybe live in it) when asked by people like Charlie.
I know Charlie is likely making that “I really hate this guy but I’m going along with it” face because Adam is annoying her, but I really like the idea that this is the Lilith part of her reacting to Adam, given the popular “Lilith and Adam were previously married” plot point.
It’s hard to see Charlie cry. SOMEONE CHEER HER UP!
Cherri! Again I wonder what things will be like now that her bestie is in the same place as Pentious, who doesn’t like her.
It is nice that though Charlie is still nice, she still curses and isn’t scared to say things like saying a cannibal’s diet is disgusting.
Like I predicted in my season 1 premiere theory, it sounds like Charlie and the others have a goal to accomplish before the next Extermination, though it looks like they will cut it close given we see scenes of an Extermination, unless this is the one that took place before the events of the pilot OR a year has passed in the series since the end of the pilot and we are looking at another one. Either way I now think the goal for Charlie and the others will be recruit enough people for the redemption program before a deal she made with Adam ends on the next Extermination.
We will be getting an episode where Charlie and Alastor interact with Rosie and her Hellborn cannibals. Looks like Charlie will ask them to support her which Rosie seems to be into. Now like others I have a feeling that Overlords and such will try and use Charlie for their own ends throughout the series, which I don’t mind but I’m hoping it won’t be too predictable and I hope Rosie won’t try to do so as I have a funny idea for why she would want to help Charlie redeem sinners. Since their cannibals I could see them saying that sinners who have done very evil things taste better than those who are decent people so helping Charlie redeem those kinds of sinners would leave them with better options for “meals” XD. Maybe they join Charlie in the implied season finale fight with Heaven as the cannibals believe that they will be able to eat Exorcist mean XD.
Its Lucifer, and he has some BIG WINGS! I want to take a moment to talk about something that I hope will happen with him and Charlie in the season or series.
There is an episode in season 1 called “Dad beat Dad” which will definitely have Lucifer in it and he will likely being mad at Charlie based on the recent IGN pic of Lucifer looking threatening to Charlie, showing us that he has flaws when it comes to parenting, but I hope that the scene shown here takes place near the end of the episode where he apologizes which again involves this very scene as he sings his apology to Charlie. It be fitting as I see the entire episode being about how after her conversation with her father, the characters talk to Charlie about their dads and maybe Charlie thinks that Lucifer will never change for her, only to be proven wrong, a benefit for a season with so little episodes as they have to do a lot in a short amount of time.
I know “bad relationships between child and parent” is a theme in Vivzie’s work but after the bad fathers in Helluva Boss, I’m getting tired of that theme and wish to see different levels of bad parents. I once read a comment of Vivzie’s somewhere saying that Lucifer is a A+ husband, but a C parent, and I want to see that here like as I mention in previous works he states that though he loves Charlie, he can’t officially support this but maybe hints that there is a way for Charlie to do it and wishes her luck. That or we later find out that Lucifer pushes Charlie away because of the popular idea that he made a deal with Heaven so in exchange for the Exterminations, Lucifer and Lilith were able to have Charlie and fears that if she ever found out or the Exterminations stopped he would lose her, giving him a lose/lose situation.
Heaven got a redesign. Now it looks like that kind of angel that looks like gyroscope rings with eyes and multiple pairs of wings.
Charlie is getting mad at Adam which I don’t blame due to his attitude and singing, but I’m hoping her breaking point here is that he said something really bad about her mom.
I want to take a moment to talk about the song playing in the trailer, as it sounds like a fight is going to happen, and though I think there will be one in the season finale I’m hoping it’s a small one that doesn’t start a full blown war between Heaven and Hell.
When I first saw this, I though the new lady character was Lute (Eve in my headcanon) without her mask or maybe that one Overlord (https://hazbinhotel.fandom.com/wiki/Overlords?file=Ballerina_Overlord.png) revealing she was a spy for Heaven but I know it’s someone named Sera and she is a play on the Seraphim angel and likely based on an old Vivzie character of an angel who LOVES to torture sinners. I’m a bit meh about her being in the story as I feel like she could either put a stop to or aid the series idea I’ve talked about before of Charlie slowly convincing angels her redemption plan is a good idea as the series progresses.
Speaking of which, I’m not a big fan of the idea of Hell and Heaven’s hierarchy in the shows being 100% accurate to details from real life mythologies about demons. That would mean Paimon outranks Asmodeus one of the seven deadly sins, and do people really want that? I mean it looks like it doesn’t since Vivzie did give us a hierarchy where sins outrank goetias like Paimon but I wanted to bring it up since I see people talk about it. The Sera character is a similar thing as I personally like the idea of Charlie’s biggest problems when it came to angels was with the archangels such as Michael who not only defeated Lucifer in stories, but the fandom likes writing as a twin brother of sorts to Lucifer. I could see this working if the writers make it so that the archangels I’ve mentioned go promoted to seraphims over the millenia making them equal to Sera who would then be a part of Charlie’s mission.
We see a sample of Alastor’s power, killing some people likely sent by Valentino to attack the Hotel but who cares about that when we have MIMZY!!! Admittedly she is making an odd face here, but her design looks pretty good. I’m also glad that the inclusion of Pentious didn’t get rid of her and hopefully the others like Baxter and Crymini could appear soon too. Admittedly Mimzy is the only other character I learned about through the leak and (spoilers) Im kind of hoping the writers changed her since then or will as the series progress as there is one thing I read about her that I didn’t like that much.
Adam being mad and is flying to punch someone. Could be around the time of the implied fight hinted in the trailer. We also get a scene we saw before of him getting mad and breaking something, maybe cause Charlie is close to proving him wrong/winning deal and he will have to take drastic measures, AKA sabotaging her so the Extermination can happen.
We get a shot of all of Pentagram City losing power, but we do get to see some landmarks too like the Extermination tower in the center, Hazbin Hotel near the top, Val’s place to the left, but the most interesting one is that of mansion in the bottom right with a circus tent in front of it which I think means its Lucifer and Lilith’s place.
Some might think Adam caused this, but I think the power out was a result of Vox as I recall another post from Vivzie saying that Vox could cause power outages that can affect all of Hell and now that we know that he has electricity powers, I can believe he can do stuff like that.
We get a dramatic scene of Charlie wondering if she’s ready followed by a funny scene of Angel and Pentious (who is really into that lollipop) trying to act out Charlie’s script.
The trailer has gotten me both excited and a bit nervous for the first season of Hazbin Hotel, which is just a little over a month from releasing. Can’t wait to see what will happen, and till then I’m hoping we don’t get any more trailers and such as I feel like any more details of the season would spoil it but that’s just me.
What were your thoughts on the trailer? What do you think could happen/want to see happen in the first season?

Robert - Bob the Blob
Tumblr media
Type: PC
Aliases: Robert, (insert series of chemical identifiers bc that's his actual name)
Pronouns: Any are fine, though Bob generally goes by he/him
Sexuality: What's that?
Relationships: Why?
Race: Plasmoid
Home: Myth Drannor, Cormanthyr (currently)
Age: Unknown, but very old
Class: Psi Warrior
Weapon(s) of Choice: Pistol and War Pick
Job: Agent for the spymistress of Cormanthyr
Loyalty: Herself, and then Cormanthyr by extension
Alignment: NG
Height: 6′3
Personality: Quiet, sarcastic, a bit snooty when it comes to comparing his people’s customs to that of the “Solids,” secretive, and observant.
Status: Alive, Uninfluenced (known)
Strategy: You can’t put a hole in him but he sure as fuck can put a few in you.
About and Fun Tidbits:
Robert arrived in Toril during the Spellplague in a portal incident. He kept odd jobs here and there, merely existing among the Solids as he explored their world. He's found that he's quite fond of the gnomes.
When he “sleeps,” he kind of oozes out of his armor...and he has a bubbly snore.
Joke HC that there are dozens and dozens of oozes and plasmoids out there that would be considered his "children." Not canon, just for lols.
Can't get drunk, unfortunately. Fortunately, he can drink people under the table as a bet and they don't know he's an ooze...easy money.
Met Herself on the road. She didn't give him the option. She said, "I have a job for you," and that was that. No chance to protest it, no way of getting out of it; you don't tell Electra no.
I don’t have a photo reference for him, but he’s a blue-green color and wears full armor to hide the fact that he’s a plasmoid. He doesn’t want anyone but Herself knowing. When not in armor, he’s lounging on a couch somewhere as a grumpy puddle.

Mxing Slimes

Story about a scientist and a slime.
------------------------------------------------
Success always seems to occur in bizarre forms..
It was bitter work, but it had finally been done. Months of testing, so many attempts had failed. So many failures and finally one final success.
The lone scientist Kae stands before two large silver archways. The mechanical maw, threatening to swallow them whole. They smile as they wipe the sweat from their face and reach to throw a nearby lever.
The archway hums and whirs to life! A small light in the center rapidly growing into a full sized portal in one! Right before another opens in the second archway!
Meniacal laughter and flashing lights illuminate the room to reveal a series of jars and other various baubles. Labeled containers filled with various specimens and substances that sit on the shelf above the archways.
One particular jar, filled with a dazzlingly sparkly liquid shudders and shakes. As if alive with both sentience and newfound curiosity. Mesmerized by the pretty flashing lights, pushes against its glass prison.
Push!
Push!
..And another push!
Shatter!
The glass hits the floor! A thick, dark liquid covers the floor and splatters through the portal! The ooze colides with the portal, imbueing and changing colors; before shooting out the portal and onto a cylinder that happened to be nearby.
The machine sparks and sputters before dying out with a startling poof of smoke. Kae coughs and waves away the haze. As the fog clears, the culprit behind the machines malfunction comes into view.
The viscous slime on the floor oozes and bubbles, before pulling itself together into a petite woman, shimmering in hues of indigo and turquoise. She looks around curiously, oblivious to the potential damage she has caused. As she looks around, Kae notices some rather distinguishing features. Of note being a small light coming from what could only be it's..
Kae goes to reach out to the slime, before noticing the same light coming from a small cylinder on their table. Blushing as they realize the object is not for work, but pleasure. A fleshlight, used to keep them occupied during the graveyard shift.
A smile forms on their lips. The machine may have broke, but the experiment was a success.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The slime looks around the shop curiously, noting the tingling sensation in its rear, before locking eyes with a tall, long haired person in a white lab coat. The slime smiled! It knew that face! But how odd. What bizarre contraption are they holding? And why are they pulling their cock out?
Kae flashed a sadistic grin and pulled their xock out. The fleshlight pulsed, as if in anticipation of what's to come. Kae lowered it onto their xock. Head pressed against the lips, the slime girl shivered. The realization finally hit the ditzy slime as they gasped!
As Kae's xock slowly pushed further into the fleshlight, they could see it materialize in the slime girl. Filling it with that thick shaft. Pushing further and further, til the small slime was nearly buldging from the scientists penis. It was so warm, so soft. The ooze conformed to their cock so perfectly, as if it had been perfectly sculpted for it.
Such fullness, only to be met with rapid emptiness as Kae pulled out. The slime looked back with pleading eyes! It could not speak, but Kae understood completely. Bet would ruin this pathetic slut, ter would make them melt.
Slowly, in and out. Kae flexed her hand, ensuring their hand was angled as they pulled out, before switching to an opposite angle to pull in. Sometimes even turning the fleshlight, causing the slimes sparkly insides to spiral beautifully. Over and over. In and out. The slime squeezed every time that cock was pulled out, as if their hole was begging for it not to go. What a wonderful slut.
Such a tight hole was amazing, the slime molding perfectly to their xock. Squeezing and pulsing over and over. Faster and faster dom thrusted into the slime slut. Over and over, her eyes rolling back and her mouth open, drooling with xock lust. Kae laughed, this pathetic slime would serve them well. The moment of climax was approaching.
Big took ger xock and thrust deeply back into the slime wet hole! Thrusting in and pulling out with extraordinary speed. The slime gasped and made a noise that could be a moan. The scientist in Kae didn't realize slimes could even make noise, they'd make sure this one made more.
Kae did just that! Fucking this slime with a newfound ferocity. Their xock thrusting as deep as possible before pulling it out and decimating the slimes insides again. The slime, so overwhelmed with pleasure, moaned and bubbled! Unable to keep her form just right and melting slightly as a result.
Kae's head whipped back! As big threw one final powerful thrust into the slime! Filling her to the brim with a slime of her own. Cum flowing into the slut. Moans mxing in unison, an orchestra of pleasure. All the while, a delicious warm ooze mixes with that beautiful slime slut. More and more, as Kae slows their stroking, desparate to hang on to that fleeting pleasure.
The slime sees the scientist, gasping for breath, but grinning ear to ear. The slime smiles before melting into a puddle from exhaustion. It's deep indigo hues now a much paler lavender....
The scientist smile and walks away from the shelf, where a new clean jar now sits. Filled with a indigo ooze, labeled "Summa Voluptas". For it truly was a Supreme Pleasure.
- No OP OCs, make your characters flawed, please
- SMUT is okay, as long as it is within context of the story. In fact, it is even welcomed in that case
- You reply when you feel like it. I don't care how long you take, just give me a heads up if you want to leave for good. I will do the same.
- I speak German, English, French and Italian, but preferably roleplay in English.
Branded - Chapter 57 (Final)
Pairing: Demon!Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: You find your relic.
(This is a fan AU of Falling’s Just Another Way to Fly by araniaart . Please check out this incredible series for all of your demon Bucky needs.)
AO3
Tumblr media
You’d only been to the ancient Sanctum a few times, with strict access to the library for your studies and nowhere else, and normally you would be excited to visit the unofficial headquarters of the Mystic Arts.
But now, as you followed Wong to the room of portals that would lead to the Nepal sanctum, your stomach twisted and your heart raced. You couldn’t even enjoy the fact this was where Strange had gone on his near-disastrous pilgrimage. The idea of the Ancient One kicking him out on his ass was an entertaining one, though you were still glad she eventually trained him. As irritated as you were about a lot of things regarding the former surgeon, he and Wong both had taught you nearly everything you knew.
Plus, you’d seen the scars on his hands. As arrogant and egotistical as he appeared, Strange had suffered to get where he was. Not unlike yourself. Not unlike Bucky.
The Orb of Agamotto hung within the circular room where other sorcerers consulted with it, verifying that the magical Earthly shields were still intact. Past them were three doors leading to the other sanctums, including the one in Kathmandu.
You and Bucky followed Wong through, the familiar feeling of displacement shifting your stomach and throwing you off balance for a moment. Neither Wong nor Bucky were as unsteady as you were. It had been something you were embarrassed about, but according to Strange during one of your lessons, it simply meant you were more sensitive to spatial displacement.
As Wong led you both through the ancient stone hallways, past the commons where other sorcerers were in training, doubt crept along your nerves. Someday, possibly sooner than you were prepared, all of these people were going to follow you. Look to you for guidance, for teaching. For protection.
How were you supposed to become the next Ancient One if you couldn’t even walk through a portal without getting dizzy?
This wasn’t going to work. The idea was crazy enough to begin with. The Ancient One had to be wrong. You were going to step into her office and nothing would happen. You would make a fool of yourself; you weren’t any more talented or skilled than any other sorcerer. Just half a year ago, you’d had no idea demons and magic were even real.
And now, you were expected to carry on the mantle as one of the most powerful sorcerers on Earth? How was that even possible? How could you ever be worthy enough to—
Wong opened a door using a complicated series of hand gestures, and as soon as you stepped through, your panicked mind fell silent. Energy thrummed along your skin, setting the hairs upright.
“Here it is.”
Wong’s announcement was unnecessary; you would know this place in your dreams, even though you had never been.
It was a simple room with a single large, circular window pointed towards the mountains over the city. Potted plants perched on most available surfaces that weren’t covered with books, scrolls, and odd knickknacks.
There was only a single writing desk pushed to the side, humble and unobtrusive. The rest of the room was empty space with a single well-worn green rug in the middle. But the plants made everything seem alive and verdant. It felt very much like a place the Ancient One would spend her time. It was a reflection of her, in a way. Quiet, but hidden with secret truths.
“Take a look around,” Wong said, but you were already moving. Slowly and with intense focus, you circled the room, reaching out and feeling, not with your hands but with your mind.
Odd and powerful energy pervaded the room, muted by spells but still apparent to you. They were coming from the artifacts that were laid out, seemingly casually, on the shelves and desks.
Most of them seemed as plain and unimportant as the room itself. A cracked vase with the lip stained red. A golden helmet that was varnished and faded, but two glittering horns jutted from the temples. A knobby staff with a smooth, grey stone fixed at one end, as modest as any walking stick except for the melodic hum that emanated from the stone. You had a feeling neither Wong nor Bucky could hear it.
But despite all the weird, wonderful oddities in your reach, you were drawn elsewhere. You approached one corner of the room where lay a pile of old scrolls and their cloth wrappings, and moved them aside with care to reveal what was hidden underneath.
It was a sword hilt. Just the hilt. There was no blade, not even a piece of broken metal. The metal was dulled with time and flaked with rust, the pommel grey and dirty.
You reached out and hesitated. Fingertips inches away, something stopped you. The knowledge that once you took hold of the relic, everything would change.
You glanced over your shoulder at Bucky.
He was watching you with close attention, as was Wong, but when he caught your eye he gave a small smile of encouragement. He supported you, even though he had to know what this meant, or at least had a good idea of it.
Not every sorcerer found their relic within the Ancient One’s study.
Comfort and warmth, so strong it could only be described as love, flooded across the bond and washed away your fears. You returned his smile, even if it was shaky, and you held on to that feeling as you turned back to the hilt.
You closed the distance, wrapped your fingers around the relic, and lifted it.
It was surprisingly heavy; that was your only observation before it began. The hilt thrummed in your palm, vibrating so fast you nearly dropped it.
The rust flaked away from the metal, leaving it polished and silver. The grey pommel was shaken of its dirt, and you realized it was white bone, the metal wrapping around it to form the grip and crossguard.
The thrumming didn’t stop, but you couldn’t let go even if you wanted to. Your fingers seized around the metal, energy teeming up your hand and arm. When it reached your right shoulder, all the way up to your pentagram, the sigil burned in a way it hadn’t done since the ritual.
Bucky must have sensed your panic because he rushed forward, but you backed away from him fast, instinct screaming at you to put a safe distance between you now.
It was a good thing you had; the energy from your sigil exploded down your arm, through your hand, and into the hilt. A burst of red light shot outward, forcing you to turn away from the blinding beam.
When the light dimmed and you could see again, blinking away the after images, you stared at the sword. That’s what it was now. A glowing red blade, seemingly made entirely of light. The energy that came from it was purely of the demon realm, scorching and sulfuric.
“What…” You choked the words past your dry throat. “What is this?”
There were only a handful of times you’d ever seen Wong shocked. So, that was three powerful sorcerers you’d rendered speechless in the span of a day.
“The blade of Hell, or so it is spoken. None in the history of the order had been able to unlock its powers, rendering it anything more than a broken hilt.” He leveled you with a somber stare. “It is called Daemonio Vexatur. Which means—“
“—to become a demon.”
Wong raised a brow.
“Rough translation, but yes.”
“So, it’s a demon sword?” asked Bucky, eyeing the glowing blade. He was understandably wary, and honestly, was accepting what was happening better than you were. You were still stuck on the fact that you were holding a glowing-freaking-sword in your hand.
“Yes. And no,” Wong said in traditional teaching-fashion. “A demon cannot wield it, but it takes demonic energy to power.”
“Oh. So that’s why my sigil and my entire arm feel like they’re on fire.”
Bucky’s mouth opened and he took a step forward, protectiveness sizzling along the bond, and you gave him a hurried smile.
“Kidding. Sort of.” You smiled wider through your clenched teeth. “It is really uncomfortable.”
Bucky’s dark look told you he didn’t believe you, and with what you imagined was coming from your end of the bond, you didn’t blame him. Holding the sword was like holding on to a live wire that was also burning. There was a molten jolt connecting the hilt to your sigil, and you were just hoping to not get incinerated in the process.
And just like that, the connection was gone, and the relief of your arm no longer being on fire was dimmed by the disappointment as the sword was extinguished, leaving nothing more than a gleaming hilt.
“What happened?” You frowned, eyeing the relic as if searching for an on switch.
“It will take time and training to effectively control your relic.”
“How long?” You looked up when Wong didn’t answer immediately, catching the serious dent in his brow.
“It’s hard to say. No one in living memory has wielded the blade, and it was believed no one ever would.”
Wong gave a heavy sigh.
“So of course, you would be the one to wield it.”
You returned your gaze to the relic and turned over the hilt in your hand, admiring the metal and bone. You wondered if the bone was from a demon, a safe bet considering.
“So.” You carefully put down the hilt and turned to give Bucky your best serious face. “How does it feel to have a wizard girlfriend with a lightsaber?”
Wong rolled his eyes. He knew you well enough by now to know what you were doing, but he didn’t comment on your attempts to over your fear with humor. He muttered something about reporting to Strange as he left the office.
But Bucky…
Worry and fondness conflicted across the bond, struggling to coexist. He stepped forward, the green cloth tunic he’d found in one of the drawers of your room stretched unfairly tight across his chest. It was the largest he could find in a hurry, and it was nearly enough to distract you from your own anxieties.
“I think…” Bucky wrapped his arm around you, drawing you into an embrace that you melted into easily. “That I’m scared for you. I’m confused as hell what this means, and I’m guessing this isn’t going to make your life any easier or less complicated. But… I’m also proud of you.”
You could sense the pride easily, but Bucky was trying to bury the fear that was close to terror. He truly was scared of what this meant. You were too, and the Ancient One’s words weighed heavily on your shoulders.
There was a questioning feeling tugging at your thoughts, and you remembered too late that Bucky could sense the same anxiety, even if he didn’t have all the details. So you smoothed out your tumultuous thoughts and covered them the best way you knew how.
“You say that to all the wizard girlfriends.”
“You’re deflecting.”
“That is what swords do.”
Bucky pulled back far enough to stare at you with narrowed eyes, but when he touched his horns to yours it was with such gentleness that you nearly forgot to breathe. But breathe you did, drinking in his familiar, soothing scent and allowed the tension to drain from your muscle.
“We should head back.” Bucky said after a moment of intimate, comfortable silence in which you finally relaxed. “Got a bastard to catch.”
You reluctantly let go first, knowing he was right and you couldn’t stay here forever. Turning toward the sword hilt, you reached for it and paused. You took a small detour and picked up an old, ratty cloth nearby and carefully wrapped the relic within. Until you had a better grasp of how to wield the sword, it was probably a wiser idea to not handle it directly. You had no idea if it was sentient like Strange’s cloak, and it would be better not to accidentally set it off. Slicing off your own leg was a poor way to convince anyone that you were the next Ancient One.
On your journey back down the halls toward the portal door, Bucky said, “So… what are you going to name it?”
He smiled at your sideways glance.
“All cool swords get a name. It’s kind of a universal rule.”
Maybe you didn’t know Bucky as well as you thought you did, because you had no idea he was such a damn nerd.
“Yeah? You’ll have to bestow all your sword knowledge on me.”
“Is that a sexual innuendo?”
“It is now.”
Bucky’s smile died on his lips when you were no longer at his side. He paused and looked back where you had stopped at the threshold to the portal room.
“What if I can’t do this?” The doorway before you was no longer just a doorway. It was an insurmountable hurdle, and your feet wouldn’t budge from the floor. “What if I fail?”
Bucky approached slow and steady, his expression gentle and fond.
“You won’t. You’re too stubborn to fail.” A warm hand softly cupped your cheek, his human one, and you leaned into it. He laughed silently at your predictable need to be touched, but his expression faded into something more serious. “But on the very slim chance you do, then you get back up and you start again. Just as you always have.”
Your stomach fell. Bucky couldn’t understand what failure meant in your case. You didn’t even know what it meant, but you could guess. If you failed to be the Ancient One everyone needed… then there might not be any second chances.
Bucky wrapped you in his arms one more time, undoubtedly sensing his words of encouragement hadn’t hit as effectively as he’d wanted.
“Whatever this means, you finding that relic… Whatever happens when we find Zemo...” Bucky’s voice was deep in his chest, a rumbling sound that never failed to comfort you. “I’ll be here.”
You returned his embrace, gripping him tightly as you pressed your cheek against his chest.
“I know.”
And you did, too. Bucky would be there for you. Not because he was compelled to be, and not out of a sense of duty or guilt to protect you. He would be by your side by choice.
And that fact made Zemo’s escape, the Ancient One’s words, and your own self-doubt a little easier to bear. Because you and Bucky would weather it.
Together.
Okay so I rewatched parts of Endgame to write a Sambucky fic. I haven’t seen this movie since the theaters and then S8 ep 3 Game of Thrones destroyed my life.
-The fact that The Snap took Hawkeye’s entire family way outsides the odds proves how much the universe just hates Hawkeye.
-I forgot how much I fucking love Nebula. I want more Nebula and Rhodey. Bucky and Nebula would get on, too. Disabled superheroes club unite.
-I did like the beginning of Endgame. Everyone was just so wrecked and they played it so well. Thanos living his best life in his cottage. That was great.
-I still genuinely do not understand why Steve looks at Peggy’s picture when he’s talking about bringing everyone back from the Snap because he ‘doesn’t know what he’ll do otherwise.’ Like does she represent everyone he’s lost, like Sam and Bucky, his closest connections that are actually dead from the Snap? It doesn’t make sense.
-Is that Steve running a support group because he asked himself, “What would Sam do?”
-This was actually the best scene dealing w the fallout of the Snap. The MCU was definitely not ready to address the full scope of what The Blip means and you see that lack of follow through in every movie/series post Endgame.
-Steve Rogers: “You gotta move on.” UNLESS
-“...Thanos should’ve killed all of us.” I think this is the reason Steve goes back in time, honestly. The Snap just broke him. Without Sam and Bucky, with the enormity of this failure, Steve just lost his ability to cope. Steve has always needed someone to save him from himself but they’re gone. Even though they get most people back, they still lost Tony and Nat and 5 years. Steve can’t win. And Steve Rogers cannot cope with losing. So he rewrites a history where he wins. I don’t even think it’s about not being able to get over Peggy (though they did try to shoehorn that in hard), it was about Steve needing to be in control of his life again.
-It’s one of those situations where I can understand the character’s individual choice, but from a storytelling and narrative perspective, it doesn’t make sense with the story they were telling in the Captain America movies and it’s deeply unsatisfying and confusing. It leaves so many questions and potential consequences. I wasn’t even in this fandom at the time and had zero opinions on any ships, and I was like “this makes no sense.” It still doesn’t. But you know what good for Steggy shippers, ya’ll really won. Stucky fandom, as someone who had to watch Game of Thrones S8 wreck my fandom life, I feel you. My deepest sympathies.
Anyway I skipped to the end after the support group scene. Dammit here we go:
Had to watch the final battle. Cause I had to hear Sam say on your left.
I still lowkey ship Tony/Strange
What you don’t see in the finale battle is where Sam and Bucky keep saving each other. That happened.
The backflips they had to go through to explain why Carol Danvers doesn’t end this movie in 5 minutes. Lol
Tony Stark takes no prisoners. RIP coerced alien soldiers. I have a hard time believing they couldn’t have saved Tony between a portal to Wakanda and magic but fine heroic moving death it is.
Sam didn’t have to go that hard and put a hand on Bucky’s shoulder. But he did.
Okay the finale scene with Sam, Steve and Bucky. The whole reason I watched this lol. So it looks like they’re at the wreck of the Avengers compound. It’s unclear how much time passes between final battle, funeral, old man Steve and the stones. I still theorize Sam and Bucky get arrested after this because they’re fugitives and need to be pardoned.
It’s clear Steve told Bucky and fans were right about this for ages, but why not tell Sam??????? Like seriously wtf??? Couldn’t have said HEY Sam any interest in becoming the new Captain America??? 😂
That last look Steve shares with Bucky; right in my fucking heart.
So when Steve leaves he has no shield because it was destroyed by Thanos. When Steve comes back, he brings a shield to Sam. This seems to confirm the separate branch theory. The shield Sam has comes from a different timeline. Which means Steve came from a different timeline, maybe using the same tech. So it’s possible he rescued Bucky from HYDRA and he, Peggy and Bucky lived a great polyamorous life in that verse. Aw.
But that begs the question of how Steve got the shield in a different timeline. Like WHAT. Did he go find it in the Arctic? Did he convince Wakanda to make another one somehow? Like wtf? Again this ending makes no sense.
Poor Sam. He seriously has to deal with one last mindfuck, losing his best friend that he gave up everything for, and Sam being stalwart and true, just rolls with it. At least Bucky knew. Bucky had the chance to go back with Steve (but for a million reasons Bucky could never go back, that’s what this fic is going to be about lol). But Sam is just left to deal with one more loss.
Can we talk about how Bucky 100% supported Sam getting the shield from the start. Bucky was READY for Cap Sam Wilson. Bucky was like nope this shit is written.
You can see that imposter syndrome revving up to 1000% on Sam’s face. And he turns to Bucky for confirmation this is really happening.
I think this also explains why Bucky is so defensive about the shield. It really is the only thing left of his past. It’s his only tie to the Howling Commandos, to Steve, to the person he was before HYDRA took everything. And the only hope he has in staying behind is the certainty that Sam will be Cap, and that’s the hope that makes him stay. The thin vague tie to Sam and the possibility of their future. So for Sam to reject the shield, oof, I bet that felt like a rejection of Bucky himself. Because Bucky stays for Sam.
(None of this explains why Bucky then ghosts Sam. That is the biggest mystery but there are many delicious possibilities. It’s also possible that Bucky didn’t really ghost Sam - we know his flip phone is just something he has for show. He could be talking to Sam on his smart phone. And they had another falling out.)
Dear God the emotion in Sam’s face as he processes that he’s being given the shield. Cue existential crisis!!!!!
And on to TFATWS.
we're not out of the tunnel (i bet you, though, there's an end) | ao3
rating: general audiences
notes: extremely heavily inspired by mitski's 'i will'. emotional hurt/comfort. he/she/they pronouns used for eret. i was intending to post this after a different installment in my eternal duo series but quackity’s lore made me sad so i finished writing this quickly for serotonin
all the quiet nights you bear, i will hold them for you
 His voice is quiet, sad, and it breaks Eret's heart. She shuts her eyes and presses their foreheads together, hoping somehow it conveys I'm here, you don’t have to be brave. I will take care of you.
There are three new giant additions to Foolish’s summer home when Eret arrives to map it. (Eret’s not really sure why he calls it that; for all intents and purposes it’s his main residence.) Strange little creatures swirl past Eret’s feet as they step through the portal, ones Eret has never seen before, in varying shades of green and gold. As he walks onto the path, shading his eyes from the relentless desert sun, he notices more of them scurrying around the various buildings, and they seem to be wearing… hard hats?
Odd.
She walks along the path, quietly marveling at how Foolish can turn even the most common of blocks into something beautiful. At the edge of the water, a massive half-finished pyramid looms in the distance, dozens of the creatures among the scaffolding. He’s really going to have to ask Foolish what those things are, when he finds him.
If they find him, anyway. He’s been difficult to track down lately. Foolish is always around, somewhere, but it’s been hard for Eret to reach him on comms for the past few weeks, and every time they visit the desert, he’s nowhere to be seen.
It’s been nearly a month since the banquet. Eret misses her friend, but more than that, she’s concerned for him. The new builds are more than enough proof that he’s been here, and from what she's heard, a handful of people have visited and spent time with him.
But he died for them. He died to protect Eret, and they haven't seen him in a month.
After checking everywhere else, Eret ventures over to the water. Luckily she brought a boat, having been headed home from a cartography expedition. She crosses the water quickly, and begins scaling the side of the pyramid. Two sides, and nothing, but on the third she spots him sitting by a hole blasted into the side of the pyramid, sandstone scattered around him. Eret frowns and checks their clock. It's barely evening and there's no shade nearby. Has he been here since dawn?
They bend down and touch his shoulder, but he doesn't respond. “Come on, old friend. Let me take you home.”
He steers Foolish down the side of the pyramid and into his boat, crosses the short strip of water easily, and takes Foolish's hand and helps him onto the shore. He doesn't let go as he leads them to the portal.
Navigating the nether is always tricky, and though Eret has her shield out and weapons within reach, she still tries to move them through as quickly as possible. Thankfully, they don’t run across anything particularly troublesome, and they arrive at Eret's castle right as the sun begins dipping below the horizon.
She leads him inside, takes him to the quarters she's set aside for him. He's never expressed any desire to stay here, but then, neither have most people, and Eret still has rooms for all of them.
She gently slips the shark mantle off Foolish's back and carefully hangs it on the hook by the door. He lifts an arm and drags a hand along the worn material of it as she steps away to begin drawing him a bath.
As the tub fills, they turn back to help him out of his armor and are struck by how tired he looks. He has deep rings under his eyes, and Eret didn’t know that could even happen to a demigod.
Once he’s settled into the bath, Eret sits on the floor. He rests his head on the side, looking up at Foolish, this person who should be something to him, this person who calls him old friend and died for him, and his heart aches.
The sun finishes setting through the window and Eret decides it’s time to move. They pick up the jug of water from beside the bath and reach for Foolish. He responds to their touch, letting them tip his head back and pour water over his hair.
She washes his hair, making sure to be gentle, and dries it off with care. Foolish sighs when she runs a hand through it, so she does it again and again until she’s sure the water must have grown cold.
So they touch Foolish's shoulder, and he opens his eyes, lets them help him out of the tub, hand him a soft towel. They grab a spare bathrobe and hand it to him, and once he’s put it on they take his hand again. They lead him to the bed, and it isn’t very big, but as Foolish crawls in he looks so small in it that Eret finds themself beside him before they even realize what they’re doing.
They hold their arms out, and Foolish goes like it's where he was meant to be all along, even though they've never been this close.
She pulls a blanket up over them and Foolish sniffles, and even though Eret probably wasn’t meant to hear it, she takes his face in her hands anyway and swipes away a stray tear with her thumb.
He moves to kiss Foolish's forehead, but remembers he’d done that at the banquet and thinks better of it, not wanting to remind him.
“Thank you.”
My Thoughts on Castlevania S3
So I cant sleep, I've binged this series twice now & I really need to get this out. For context on me as a person, I am an LGBT+ WOC (specifically Asian & bisexual). Castlevania is my favourite game series + the reason why I pursued Game Design as my career. The show means the world to me & I thoroughly enjoyed s3 for the most part. I acknowledge the flaws & these r just MY opinions, they do not reflect the other mods intentionally in anyway.
The art + animation was so CLEAN. There was not one scene that did not take my breath away. The attention to detail was phenomenal I have no words to describe it.
Some of the best fight scenes ever just ridiculous, it's like john wick. The action is upped every installment + its just so CLEAN
The entire team puts so much time + effort Into making Sypha such an enjoyable badass it's so amazing. I am never disappointed with her, never ever.
The lesbians. Striga & Morana, god I wish that were me.
Isaacs character arc was so good. Like the budget really went to Sypha + Issac this season LOL
Sumi + Takka, they meant so much to me. I love them, I really do. I cant say I'm not hurt seeing them at the end. I'm actually very hurt, my heart aches. I never thought I'd get to see representation like that in a series that I loved but felt idk invisible to. LGBT Asians in a historical setting outside of Asia, it was just...a dream for me. I fell in love w/ them instantly & I think that's why I tend to over look their faults a lot.
But when you see yourself on screen in something you've dedicated years to & you're just finally seen its...its so hard. The last time I felt this full was Shiro from V*ltr*n and we know how that shit went down. Idk I'm happy for what I recieved, grateful even, for however short it was. I loved their characters, i love sumi + takka i just wish they got a better ending. They all deserved better
More info on Cho I really oof I could not have asked for more. This bitch was so extra & I love her
That music score, the sound design. Bruh I can't even with all this TALENT
I call episode 9 the Fuckening
The Portals to different worlds really confuses me but I am here for it, I hope it's just like an Easter egg to their future projects or that the writers were all high around then
I see u w/ that jojo reference, I bet you think ur all so slick
Hector's entire story arc, wtf was that? My guy you can't be like "Oh humanity is evil and stupid and eats shit" and then be that gullible I-ooof u frustrate me u beautiful boy. Like s2 implies he burns his family alive & I'm sitting here deadass like how the fuck did u even pull that off
The forgemasters being called pretty + their reactions were priceless
I want Richter Armitage to read me a bed time story
Trevor, Isaac & Sypha r just so well done this season
THE. HORSES. ARE. HEALTHIER.
Isaac rode a demonic purple unicorn around the world, he's my fucking hero
Alucard a confirmed bottom + bisexual thank u
The sex scenes were juxtaposed to the intense fighting but it felt awkward to watch but it was also very fitting in an odd way????
The dolls were hilarious
I learned a lot about toilet paper
The Judge being like "no kids run around in my village" is the equivalent to Mr. Mosby from Suit Life of Zack & Cpdy being like "dont u run in my lobby" AND I CALLED IT OUT AND AND WAS RIGHT
This show has taught me to never trust bald, old white men w/ interesting voices
Carmilla was just a hot ball of anger for the most Part & got annoying real fast, but that night robe tho. That was everything
I liked Lenore's character trope. Being that sweet innocent looking one, but shes really just this cruel evil bitch. Like everyone complains about Carmilla but at least shes evil to ur face until this fake bitch over here
Takka doesn't do mornings? Niether do I
Alucards wardrobe upgraded from deep Vs to fluffy Victorian Lestat cosplay
I really really want an empire run by 4 vampire sisters. Like I know they're all evil, cruel bitches but the sisterhood they showed for each other is such a goal. Women supporting women is amazing I just wish they weren't the fucking villains
A lot of my gripe is that all the rep I want & thirst for all falls into a negative category in some way/shape/form
This whole season feels more like a bridge to season 4. Kinda like a season full of fillers.
The ending hurts me I'm several ways, but objectively it is a haunting image and it really invokes so much on it's own w/o context backing it. W/ it tho, even more mindblowing and heartbreaking
Thank you so much for pronouncing Kolkata properly
I'm always blown away by character designs ur doing great sweety
The angel has the juiciest ass
Where the fuck is Cezar?
Aight I think that's all for now. If you got issues then come to me about it, not the other mods. But I'll let u know I will not tolerate racist shit (which I've gotten on IG already). I really needed to dump these feelings out. I stan Sumi & Takka, I love them and I'll carry all that on my own if I have to.
- Sincerely Mod Wall Chicken
Owl House rewatch thoughts
* Hard to say from what little we see of her, but I think Luz' mom might have been less worried about her daughter reading fantasy and more about the "multiple incidents of bringing uncontained live animals and explosives to school" thing.
* If Eda considers Luz' Azura book as being only useful as kindling, it means she's not inclined to view human books as something she can make snails on.  Considering how unique her portal to the human realm is treated, where did Amity get her Azura books?  I've seen people suggest the author travels between realms, but if that were the case, Amity would've been able to get the latest volume from a local store rather than needing to borrow Luz' copy.
* Suggestions for other species that escaped from the Boiling Isles: the platypus and peacock mantis shrimp.
* "Weak nerd arms" ok really identifying with Luz here.
* Really love this take on Chosen One stories.  Because yes, there is an appeal in being told you're special, you're unique in the best possible way, but ultimately this is a story about people who aren't "special" so much as outcasts who do their best with the situation they're in.  Which is something that a lot more people can aspire to be.
* The fact that this was a set scheme(as the multiple fake maps would indicate) rather than a trap specifically designed for Luz indicates that even people who've spent their lives on the Boiling Isles would be drawn to the idea of being a magical chosen one. I bet Amity's not the only one to have an interest in fantasy literature around here.
* Oh wow Amity's first appearance outside the credits is . . . something.  It's easy to forget just how far she grew in one season.
* Eda's not a *bad* teacher, so much as she has yet to learn that teaching requires expanding on a concept you introduce and explaining your reasoning.  "Here is what you can learn from tasting snow" instead of just "here, taste these different kinds of snow"
* Hm.  For someone who despairs at the concept of the school teaching blind obedience, her teaching style kinda relies on it.  Bit of a hypocrite there, Eda.
* Gonna be honest, the first time I watched this and King mentioned Eda sneaking a drink of elixir, I thought it was going to turn out to be a magic-looking flask.
* It seems slightly odd that King's apparently known Eda for a while but didn't have any idea of the curse.  Maybe she was just REALLY good about keeping up with her elixirs pre-series.
* Really like the metaphor for a chronic illness that's kept under control by medication.
* If the Emperor's Coven provides access to all forms of magic, you'd think others aspiring for a spot would be permitted a multi-track education at Hexside.  That might be why none of them seem to be that impressive at magic when they're supposed to be the "best of the best" -- even if they have *access* to all forms of magic, they've only had training in one specific field during the bulk of their education.
* lbr, Lilith's cheating was worse because at least Eda told Luz what she was doing.
* You'd think Willow and Gus might have caught on that Luz didn't have permission for them to come over when she told them to hide from Eda.
* It's nice that Eda realizes raising a kid with a "screw the rules" mindset will result in a kid who breaks her rules sometimes.  Cleaning up the mess she caused is really the correct punishment for Luz; directly dealing with the consequences of her actions but otherwise considering it a lesson learned.
* Reading to kids in the library is an A+ way to shift Amity from "Jerk" to "Jerk with a heart of gold" territory.
* Prediction: At some point, Luz will return to the human world (probably only briefly but Eda won't know at the time) and Eda will come across the "Coping with empty nest syndrome" book Luz got her from the library.  She'll cry.  King will cry.  Hooty will cry.  Every viewer will cry.
* Pretty sure that, given what the world is like, if any of them ended up questioned about their actions during the body swap episode, they could just say "Oh yeah I was body swapped that day. What'd I get up to?" and everyone would consider this a perfectly logical explanation for them acting out-of-character.
* HC that Hexside is fully aware some illusion-track students skip class by having an illusion of themselves attend in their place, but they figure a student maintaining a decent replica of themselves for the duration of the class period requires enough effort to count as a form of class participation, so they just let everyone think they're getting away with it.
* Gus and Willow are really ride-or-die friends.  Always nice to have.
* Probably some of the mystery appeal will be gone from the Human Appreciation Society once a legit human is just attending classes on a regular basis; being able to get definitive answers to questions rather than spending your time speculating would cut back on the draw.
* I love all the details they include on this show -- a lot of other shows would just stick in scribbles while panning past pictures instead of writing out all of Eda's incident reports.
* The pallisman is a neat concept; sort of like a mix of a wand and a familiar, a magical control that will have opinions of its own.
* Given Bat Queen apparently has enough of, um, a biological aspect to have kids, I wonder if that means Owlbert is capable of laying eggs.  Or having eggs with another owl/pallisman if the male pronouns are anything to go by.
* I mean even Phineas and Ferb didn't question Perry laying an egg when he uses male pronouns so could go either way in terms of what Disney would allow.
* Reading the book fair signs, it looks like sci-fi is a popular genre in the Boiling Isles.  Makes sense, since what we'd consider Fantasy would be more contemporary/urban fantasy to them.
* Getting the vibe that someone on staff had a less-than-amicable experience co-writing with a friend to inspire this one. And/or experience with shitty contracts.
* The Hexside requirements also required knowledge of basic runes, but given Luz apparently had no issue with that I'm guessing she just picked those up offscreen.
* "I've seen worse" is the ideal admissions response tbh.  Like . . . she pulled off the required spells and the headmaster has seen decades of students' awkward first attempts.  It probably counts as a good day when no one's admissions test resulted in needing to bring in someone from the Construction Track to repair the building.
* It's very reminiscent of D&D that the majority of the cast has the response of "This is clearly a trap.  Let's check it out!"
* You'd think that carnival fortune tellers wouldn't have the same appeal in a world where it's something you study at school.  Unless it's viewed the same way as those "magic" shows they have sometimes where the tricks all involve chemical reactions.
* Kinda surprised a school that teaches kids fire spells doesn't have some kind of fire suppression system in place.
* Hrm.  Guessing the mind guardian went back and undid their own damage offscreen; otherwise they'd have had to go re-do the repairs before leaving.
* Good they had the wifi and charging cable coming through the portal to explain why Luz' phone still has service and the battery's not long dead.
* Luz, how have you survived this long with your instinct for pushing buttons.  The same as the rest of humanity in a world full of buttons, I suppose.
* Probably if they thought about it, the best criteria for picking Grom royalty would be less who's the most skilled at magic and more who has the most low-key fears. . . . nvm, having a Stay-Puft incident would cause them to reasonably scrap that approach.  Maybe appointing someone who obsesses over grades would have better odds of producing a relatively-simple-to-combat exam paper.
* I'm thinking the letters are written by Eda, who doesn't intend anything sinister by it so much as being the type to cover her bases when pulling off a scam and realizing Luz' mother would need some evidence to indicate her daughter was safely at camp.
* The band-aids clearly have some healing spell built-in, considering they've been used to heal inanimate objects.
* someone on the writing staff has a long-standing rant about Quidditch they've been holding back on.
* I know that normally the humor in the cut from "she's finally growing up." to Luz planning the heist would be that she's doing something that sensible adults would consider to be a bad idea, but if Eda saw her just then she'd wipe away a tear of pride and go "Her first self-planned heist! They grow up so fast!"
* Eda's the one who talks about cheating at stuff, but Lilith has a habit of playing *dirty*.
* I would like to say I appreciate them going with a more serious credit sequence because it was disconcerting with Star Vs when a dark ending was followed by "I THINK EARTH'S A REALLY GREAT PLACE"
* Lilith may have made a 30-years-late attempt to redeem herself, but I really don't trust her.  I don't quite want her dead, but she DID spend decades trying to force her sister to join the Emperor's Coven as a prerequisite for curing her curse.
FINALLY FINISHED NARUTO AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Honestly, and this might sound harsh, but I think I give the series overall a 6/10. Being generous, I’d say it’s maybe a 7/10, but I’m deducting one point because I’m almost positive the only reason I’d rate it that high is because despite all it’s flaws, after watching 720 episodes across two series and 10 movies, you’re just going to be attached to the characters and show regardless of how you feel about it.
I know it’s super popular, or was anyways, and I can absolutely see why, but there were just too many issues that bothered me personally. It’s frustrating because I want to like it, I really do. There’s so many elements at work here that are so just perfectly me that it’s almost weird that I don’t like it, but I don’t. Obviously I liked it enough to spend hours upon hours watching it, but I think I just kept expecting it to get better at some point, and that point never happened.
More about my issues with it below...
I don’t know how to frame this (I never do) so it’s mostly just off the cuff.
I’ll start with the easily dismissible criticisms, the movies. Obviously all but one of the movies are non-canon (and I’ll get to the canon one shortly...), and they’re made by other studios so it’s not entirely fair to criticize the series based on them. I’m far too used to this weird format from Pokemon and their non-canon movies, so it wasn’t a huge deal to me. I will say that, much like the Pokemon films, almost all of the Naruto films followed the same exact format: Naruto goes to a location we’ve never heard of before and will never hear of again and is forced to protect someone abrasive and annoying until the enemy is defeated and they become BFFs that we’ll never see or hear from again.
I’d say, in order from best to worst:
Road to Ninja - Naruto the Movie
Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel
Naruto Shippuden: The Movie 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire
Naruto Shippuden: The Movie - Bonds
Naruto Shippuden: The Lost Tower
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow
Naruto Shippuden: The Movie
Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom
Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison
The Last: Naruto the Movie
Yes, you read that right. The one canonical movie I put in dead last. Originally I thought that position was reserved for Blood Prison, which offended me because of just how utterly contrived the plot was and how out of character everyone needed to act to get it moving. But somehow, The Last took last place because of just how bad of a movie it was that for some reason has the audacity to be canon. And look, I know why it’s canon. It’s where Naruto and Hinata ‘officially’ get together and it ‘explains’ some missing plot elements from the series (more on that...), so of course it’s canon.
But come the fuck on, the last movie in the franchise, the one canonical movie, the one that may or may not take place after the Great Shinobi War, I.E. the big final battle of the series, has Naruto going into the fucking hollow earth through a cave portal that takes him to the moon, which is falling because the man on the moon is an incel and hates earth? What kind of methamphetamines were the writers on for that one. The Hinata and Naruto bits were fine, but holy fuck was that plot bad. They may as well have put Naruto in a spaceship and sent him to Mars to fight Martian Shinobi, I mean if we’ve already crossed the line, why not run a marathon beyond it.
The movie was meant to explain away a one-off line made in the series, that admittedly I did sit and ponder whether or not they’d ever explain it, about the Sage of Six Path’s brother, Homura, who went to go live on the moon after they defeated their mother Kaguya. It was mentioned so briefly and only once that I thought for sure it wasn’t ever going to be brought up again. I also wondered where Byakugan came from since we’d gotten an explanation for Sharingan and Rennigan during the series, but never for Byakugan. I actually don’t mind the explanation that it came from Homura’s bloodline, I think that tracks well enough. The man on the moon bit was...odd, but when I thought of how strong Homura was, I didn’t think much of it. I actually thought he somehow was going to still be alive and he’d come down to earth after they defeated Kaguya, but that never happened.
Here’s the rub though, and one of my issues with the series as a whole, which is that the show seemed to keep writing itself into these weird corners where they’d be forced to do something completely nonsensical, purely because they were the ones who wrote them into those corners. It would’ve been simpler to just say all visual jutsu was derived from Kaguya’s power, or the Homura died so there’s no man on the moon, or that Tsunade died so Kekashi needs to become Hokage, etc. They didn’t have to write themselves into these scenarios, but they did anyway and the end result was them having to write complete and utter nonsense to rationalize why they did it in the first place.
Kekashi becoming Hokage doesn’t really make any sense, like at all. They literally bisected Tsunade during the war but willed her back to life when they could’ve just as easily killed her then and there since she’s largely irrelevant to the rest of the series after the war, and then it would’ve made more sense why Kekashi, the man who on numerous occasions said he didn’t want to be Hokage, would then be forced to become Hokage as he’d be the next strongest (eligible) shinobi after Tsunade. I feel like it was all meant to be a payoff to Obito’s dying words to Kekashi which told him to become Hokage, which even then I found myself asking why the fuck would he say that? Kekashi almost was Hokage once before and was so relieved when Tsunade woke up from her coma so he wouldn’t have to.
Also can we talk about how bad that final episode was? I mean don’t get me wrong, it was cutesy as fuck and actually brought a tear to my eye (when Naruto asked Iruka to be his dad I fucking lost it, I won’t lie), but they cut it off before the wedding? Before the aftermath? Before he becomes Hokage? Like I understand Boruto exists, but I don’t feel like that’s a justifiable excuse for ending your long-running series on merely the assumption that he’ll become Hokage in the future. Maybe if the show was a whole 500 episodes shorter I’d be comfortable with it ending on a vague, yet hopeful ending, but when I’ve spent fuck knows how many hours on this series you bet your ass I’m expecting some mother fucking payoff.
Also do not even get me started on Sasuke. What. The. Fuck?!?!? My guy literally just sends a note via carrier pigeon to the wedding? That’s it? Did I just fucking hallucinate the last 720 episodes or wasn’t Sasuke supposed to be like the second main character??? The absolute absurdity.
This isn’t even much of a comparison because it’s so much shorter than Naruto, but it’s all I got in the moment, but imagine if at the end of Return of the Jedi, Han Solo just decides to fucking dip. He’s just not there. He and Chewie hopped into the Millennium Falcon the moment the Death Star was destroyed and just dipped. No longer in the movie, just gone. Didn’t say anything to Luke or Leia, just up and left. That would be insane.
It’s even more offensive knowing him and Sakura end of together. My. Fucking. Gods. This has been the relationship I’d been dreading since the start when it became abundantly clear they weren’t doing even the barest minimum to actually establish a relationship between them. As it is, when I watched The Last, I thought to myself: “Well, Naruto and Hinata’s relationship hasn’t been the most well-developed relationship I’ve seen, but it’s still leagues better than whatever hatchet job they’re going to pull to convince me Sasuke and Sakura end up together”. We didn’t even get the hatchet job. That’s just how little of a shit they gave. They did not even bother pretending to give any explanation as to how I’m supposed to believe they end up together. I’m quite literally just supposed to believe it because I know it will happen. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, it’s just something that is and therefor I must accept it. Absolutely ridiculous. As it stands, the show gave us more reasons why Sakura and Lee should end up together than they did for her and Sasuke. Fuck, I’d even buy Sakura and Inu before I’d buy Sakura and Sasuke.
I could go on, I really could, but it’s late and I’m just looking forward to putting this behind me. At some point, probably not too soon, I will watch Boruto. As it is, my watch schedule is pretty thoroughly booked up for a while. I can’t foresee myself ever watching this again. I know I sound harsh on it, but I wanna reemphasize that I want to like this show. It’s not a show I think is bad period, it’s a good show I think was just done rather poorly. It all felt very off-the-cuff, much like this shitty review. I don’t know what the manga-to-adaptation pipeline looked like when the show was live, but clearly something got fucked up somewhere.  This really feels like the Fullmetal Alchemist to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and I can’t help but want Naruto to get the Brotherhood treatment...if such a treatment even exists.
OWL HOUSE X CTHULHU MYTHOS: GODS AWAKEN (Pt. X)
Tumblr media
The gang looked at the odd man with the most utmost of confusion and bewilderment. This oddly beautiful man with a youthful appearance just waltzed his way into the Owl House without a care in the world, somehow hiding himself from Hooty’s detection and now he was offering his assistance.
“How did you get here?” Luz asked him.
“What you see before you is my soul,” Hypnos explained, “but I am not dead.”
“So, if you are not dead, how did you leave your body?”
Hypnos walked past Luz seemingly disinterested in her question. Hypnos directed his attention towards the couch and sat down on the far end of it. Lilith, having not moved a muscle for a duration of the time of his visit, inched herself as far away from the mystery man as she could. Hypnos smiled at Lilith’s frantic movements.
“Don’t worry, mortal, I have no intentions of harming you.”
Lilith sighed deeply and held her hand against her chest. Her heart beat at a rapid pace as a result of his uninvited presence, but she was nevertheless relieved.
“You say that you know a lot about this Nyarlathotep guy,” Eda reiterated, crossing her arms. “How do we know you are not working for him?”
Eda clammed up when Hypnos stared at her with his dark, luminous eyes. “I do understand your hesitation with trusting me, really I do.” He stood erect from his side of the couch. “I had bigger aspirations once a long, long time ago, but when I passed a gate...it all fell apart.”
Luz did not understand what he meant by “gate,” but it was the least bit of concern in her mind. “What do you know about Nyarlathotep?”
Hypnos frowned without warning. He placed a finger on the opposite sides of his head. He shut his huge, black eyes tightly. A gust of wind entered into the Owl House and whirled around the young man. His crown of poppies glowed in a red aura and ruffled in the breeze. The petals swirled through the air before clumping together to form a visual representation. The flower display took on the likeness of the planets and stars. At the center of the solar system was a large, spiraling ball that vibrated.
“A long time ago before the universe as you know it came into being, there was Ultimate Chaos. The Mad God, the Daemon Sultan, Azathoth.”
Luz looked closely at the visual figures with fascination. Hypnos slid back slightly. Luz’s cheeks blushed a deep shade of red.
“Sorry, I just like hearing about backstories.”
Hypnos nodded and continued his story. “From Azathoth, there came more ancient gods each making up aspects that maintain reality as we know it. The All-In-One Yog-Sothoth; The Black Goat of the Woods, Shub-Niggurath; the Crawling Chaos...”
“Nyarlathotep?” Luz interjected.
Hypnos nodded. “Yes, mortal.”
The petals shifted and wedged together to form a crawling mass of tentacles and eyes. On the ends of the tentacles were sharp rows of teeth gnashing at whatever was close enough to them. Before the watchful eyes of the group of misfits, the tentacles wrapped around different planets and crushed them with its tight grasp over them. Other tentacled and multi-eyed abominations slid out of the small openings of space-time and devoured worlds alongside the first creature.
“That is who Nyarlathotep is,” Hypnos emphasized, “throughout the multiverse, Nyarlathotep and his horde have laid siege and soundly destroyed them to their last molecule where only dark matter lied in their wake.”
Next, the portals once more transformed this time manifesting as a series of humanoid shapes fighting against the forces of Nyarlathotep and his acquaintances. There was a great war between the opposing sides, but with more greater casualties against Nyarlathotep’s forces. Many were cornered and forced away to the furthest parts of the known universe never to be seen again.
Only Nyarlathotep remained and fought against the chief of these humanoid beings, a large man with a gray, spindling beard. He rode in a seashell chariot that was pulled by bizarre flying entities. They had a smooth, silky complexion and slender bodies. Yet they were bereft of eyes or noses or any orifice that would have given them the semblance of a face. Not once did they ever make an utterance of a sound further alienating them from any other creature known to the universe. Their horns curved inward and their tails were like a barbed whip swatting away at invisible flies.
“Who is the old geezer?” King asked.
“That old geezer,” Hypnos said in air quotes, “is Nodens.”
“He looks pretty good for being an old man,” Eda noted.
“Eda, this isn’t the time to ask if he’s single,” Lilith stated.
Ignoring the discussion, Hypnos continued his narration. “The Lord of the Great Abyss, Nodens hunts evil creatures in the Dreamlands, something that has put him in eternal enmity with Nyarlathotep; this happened to be their first introduction to each other.”
“This is all fine and all,” Luz said somewhat in rush, “but this isn’t helping us at all with how Nyarlathotep came to the Boiling Isles.”
“To avoid Nodens and his accomplices, Nyarlathotep tore a hole in space-time and came to a world that was still in its archaic state and in need of development and leadership.”
To illustrate this, Hypnos fashioned a hole with a few of the poppies and had the tentacled mass trickle through it. Where the Crawling Chaos found itself was a total void where virtually no evidence of scientific advancements or evolution was evident. Nyarlathotep was badly beaten from his encounter with the Lord of the Great Abyss and licked the wounds of his defeat. And yet despite this, he changed his course of action and took up shop in what would become the Boiling Isles. With his cosmological foreknowledge, the Crawling Chaos waited ever so patiently to communicate with the inhabitants of the Isles in a way that they would comprehend.
“When the earliest witches of the Isles arrived,” Hypnos said, “Nyarlathotep had already seeded a small fragment of his influence over the land; this is why you have the many bizarre anomalies that pillage through the Isles.”
“So, because of this Nyarlathotep guy, he is the one to thank for our source of magic?” Eda asked.
“Yes. Nyarlathotep drew from within himself the wild magic that the witches of the Isles would grow to depend on. They thought of it as charitable and revered him as their god.”
The illustration of Nyarlathotep was depicted as pulling into his body and pulling out a small ball of light and handing it to a few of the inhabitants as a display of granting them his magic. This was long before the dreadful savage ages; before Emperor Belos; before the establishment of the coven system to limit the magic, the witches could perform. The figures gathered around Nyarlathotep offering up demonstrations of praise.
Hypnos sighed deeply. “But as you may have imagined, Nyarlathotep wasn’t going to simply grant them magic without having something in return for his services.”
Witches were aligned in long rows that led to flames. Hypnos did not have to further say anything as the looks of horror were fixed on the group’s faces. There was a sense of disgust bubbling from the deepest pits of the gang. The very idea that the magic they inherited from their ancestors came as the result of systematic sacrifice in macabre rituals uneased them. Only the Titan could possibly know what amount of pressure and pain they went through before their lives were ended far, far before their time.
“All of this senseless sacrificing came to a head when one resident – an unknown figure – appeared before Nyarlathotep at his temple and stripped him of most of the powers he granted the children of the Isles and he was imprisoned away for thousands of years. But he kept one small piece of himself to watch over the Boiling Isles at least until the time was right.”
Luz found herself deep in her thoughts curious about who was the likeliest candidate that Nyarlathotep left to upkeep the Boiling Isles. Due to Nyaralthotep being the de-facto ruler of the Isles thousands of years ago, it obviously would have to have been someone who had some sort of authority and at the least was charismatic enough to have the witches waver to him. Someone like...
Luz’s eyes widened in shock. Of course, it made total sense; how could she have missed it before? Her fists shook in aggression.
“Emperor Belos.”
“You know him?” Hypnos asked. He said the question in a monotonous tone, still feeling as if he was distancing himself from the question for whatever reason.
“You bet I know him,” Luz stated in confidence, “he almost petrified Eda.”
“And I used to work for him,” Lilith added onto the conversation.
King raised his hand. “Wait, are you suggesting that Belos is somehow related to Nyarlathotep?”
“I am not suggesting it,” Hypnos said, “I know that he is.”
King was stunned. “Then how-”
“You remember my explanation of how this body you see before you is actually my soul?” Hypnos inquired.
They nodded.
“Your Belos is really the soul of Nyarlathotep who had escaped the imprisonment his physical body suffered.”
“Wait, how does that work?” Eda asked.
“Every mortal creature, much like the gods themselves, were given a soul long before they were conceived. The soul makes up the core of what makes you you; anytime you feel a sense of wanting more out of your life, that is your soul that gives you these suggestions. Not only is the soul apart of you, but they also have their own feelings and aspirations. Sometimes if the soul were to be separate from the body for a long period of time, they have broken away and go on to have their own lives.”
“Are there good souls?” Luz asked.
Hypnos chuckled. “Good and evil; some trivial labels that mankind gives to define something they don’t understand.” He turned away from Luz. “But I will tell you that many of those wondering souls do not bring harm to those that leave them be. They’d rather prefer to have lives of solitude than needless quarrels.”
“Well, all of this has been entertaining,” Eda insisted, “but how do we stop Nyarlathotep?”
“On the Earth, there is a book that Nyarlathotep desires.”
“What is this book?” Luz asked.
“It was a book that was written by the hero who initially trapped the Crawling Chaos; the book was copied a few times by their followers but seemingly disappeared from the Isles without a trace; a copy of the work was given to a raving madman who tried to perform dark rituals with the knowledge of the gods coursing through his veins. In that book was the incantation needed for Nyarlathotep to regain his powers. Once he returns to his full strength, that would spell the end.”
So that was the reason Belos wanted to use the portal key to get access to the Earth Luz thought. While troublesome, Luz crossed her arms and grinned. “Well, we don’t have to worry about that; I destroyed the portal to the Earth.”
Her smile dropped when she was met with Hypnos’ disapproving expression. “Aye, you did, but Belos is recreating the portal from the pieces that he could salvage.”
Luz realized the error of her ways after allowing what Hypnos said to her to digest. “Then with that, he could take over the world!” She looked down on the ground with her eyes. “And I allowed him to.”
“Cheer up my dear,” Hypnos said in reassuring fashion. “He doesn’t want to take over your world.”
Luz sighed in relief. Whatever plans Belos had for Earth aside, at the least he was being truthful with his statement that the Titan – if it was alive – had no intentions of hegemony.
“He doesn’t?”
“No, he wants to destroy it.”
Luz’s panicking shifted into high gear again. “How is that better!?”
“Calm down, Luz,” Hypnos said, “this is why I am here after all; I will help you in your fight.”
“Tell us please,” Luz begged, “my mother’s down there!”
Hypnos scratched his eyebrow. “A few years back, I traversed the gates with a dear friend of mine, at least until I took a peep into the Ultimate Chaos.”
“Is that what you did to get to the demon realm?” Eda asked.
“Very observant of you, Owl Lady,” Hypnos said with a smile. “To do this...well..”
He fidgeted with his fingers at a loss of what to say or how to express it. Luz and Eda were trying to patiently wait for the Lord of Dreams to get to his point. Belos could have sent his servants to Earth already to scale the cities for the book as far as they were concerned.
“Spit it out,” Eda said, “you’re killing us.”
“Well, how my friend and I traveled we had to take a few...mind-altering substances.”
“You mean D-R-U-G-S?” Lilith interjected once more into the conversation.
Hypnos nodded. “Yes; basically, for this to work, we have to...how do you say...”
“So, we’re doing drugs?” Luz asked at last.
“Pretty much.”
Castlevania Season 3 Trailer and Poster Theories Part 1: Characters and Posters
Tumblr media
So if you’re just joining us, hi and welcome.
With the release of the Season 3 trailer for Castlevania, I figured I might as well break this down to see what’s in store for the characters and how this may connect to the future of the series. (Spoilers abound for a number of Castlevania games, so you have been warned.)
Realized this was really long so you have a warning that if you are reading this on mobile it may be better to read on the computer.
Tumblr media
So this is probably during the fight between Alucard and the Japanese warrior we see in the trailer. Two things about this moment: One I’m a bit worried that Alucard is going to push himself too much. He absolutely needs to rest as if he’s still awake for years to come then the whole situation with Symphony of the Night has less weight to it. Two is the fact that he’s enjoying himself, meaning that this is a positive for him and what’s going to happen in the future in regard to people becoming friends with him and him having a life.
Tumblr media
I’m assuming this is where Alucard is talking to the Japanese warrior that we meet in the forest. He’s explaining to them what happened to Dracula and what is up with the castle. However, this whole “Dracula is dead by my hand,” and Sypha and Trevor’s...is important. They are missing a key factor in ending him for good, that being the stone that Dracula has on him. As long as the Crimson Stone exists, he can keep coming back, again and again, and that means Death will have to be coming into play soon enough.
Tumblr media
Again, he’s activating his powers, which, if he overuses them this could be a bad thing. I’m wondering if they’re going to put him to sleep after this one, or if he’s going to be around with Simon...Please don’t be awake with Simon. Please. It’s sort of cool seeing them in motion though, more so than with Season 2.
Tumblr media
Okay, so a lot of speculation right now is that this is Zead, aka the man that teaches Hector about the Innocent Devil’s in Curse of Darkness that you use in-game. Zead is actually another important character in Curse of Darkness as he’s Death in disguise. His goal was to use Hector to beat Isaac, and then have Hector consumed by the curse to bring back Dracula.
Tumblr media
However, another option may be a possible flashback to Leon’s story and this is just a priest that is traveling with the Crusaders. Though the outfits make me think that this is a later time period. If it’s not Zead, then he could be a character that comes into play as an introduction to the issues with Carmilla or ties into the village that was attacked by Legion minions.
So we officially have a title for him. The Judge, it seems, and he’s voiced by Jason Isaacs. Important to note that the name Judge is used as part of Judgement, which is another term for Death. Though I do have to wonder if he and Morana are one and the same. Or if he’s a red herring to her being actually Death. It wouldn’t be the first time that that happened.
Tumblr media
Right, so I’m going to focus more on the two other Vampires on the left and the right rather than the center two at this moment.
So the Lady on the left is giving me a few options to work with here based on her looks.
Her name is apparently Morana and she’s voiced by Yasmine Al Massri.  Morana is the Slavic goddess of Death and Rebirth. She is a winter goddess as well and can be depicted as an older crone character. What’s odd here is that they’re not going based on that idea.  Her name means death so clearly, we have a case here of a character that may be more powerful than we first think.
So as for whom she may be based on the three following women are my best bets.
Actrise is personally one of my best guesses given the design of the character.
Tumblr media
Actrise is a witch that turned people into Vampires. While not in-game technically a vampire herself, she is a vile piece of work, killing 100 children to get Dracula to make her immortal. In the game Legacy of Darkness, she plays one of the major antagonists for the lead Cornell and later for Carrie Fernandez, who is trying to get back her sister Camilla who was turned into a vampire by Actrise. I can easily see them not adapting Legacy of Darkness, so turning Actrise into a helper for Camilla would make sense.
Of course, there is the option of the second-best well known female vampire...
Elizabeth Bathory
Tumblr media
I would have picked her as my main pick, however, Elizabeth is just as well known as Carmilla is in regard to being a solo female Villian that I can’t see them putting her as a lower-ranked assistant to Carmilla. So while this could be a possibility for our lovely lady vampire in blue and yellow, I just don’t see it as an option. But you never know. And Bathory’s name is just as well known, so that’s an added bonus.
The Countess was going to be a baddie in a Castlevania game that got canceled so she would be the easiest to adapt, and our lady Vampire has a lot of her looks. (High cheekbones, narrow nose, even the curved ears as an option and the high arched eyebrows.)
Tumblr media
A character that was designed to be a main bad in a N64 Castlevania game. Not much is known about this woman, other than she was called the Female Dracula and that she was Dracula’s lover for a while. She can create a portal to resurrect him.
Next, we have Striga, who I thought was a guy, but is apparently a woman. She is voiced by Ivana Milicevic.
Tumblr media
Now a Striga is a different sort of vampire and more a demon. But I do find it odd that we have two characters here named on two Slavic myths connected to death. What’s interesting about Striga is that I thought she may have been a guy that was connected to Alucard, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Striga’s are born with two hearts and two souls and have two sets of teeth. They are bird-like and change into bird-like creatures that hunt humans for their blood.
My main guess is that Striga probably is based more on the Lady Bats, Lillith or more likely Draculina from Order of Ecclesia.
Tumblr media
They are female vampires that are loyal to Dracula, although in this case, Striga may be more connected to Lilith as she seems to be seen and shown with Lenore more than with Morana. This makes me think that Striga is the lesser of the two in power and that Carmilla and Morana may be more the heads of this operation.
So the last character and the one that everyone wants to know about is this redhead. Her name is Lenore and she’s voiced by Jessica Brown Findlay.
Tumblr media
The name Lenore is taken from the name Elenore and was commonly used in the middle ages due to several queens having that name (Elenore of Aquitaine, Elenore of Provance, and Elenore of Castile) and comes from the name Aenor, which is a Latinized form of a Germanic name we don’t know the meaning of.
Lenore is most well known for being the lead character in the Raven that Poe’s poet pines for. His Lost Lenore and I have a feeling that she is going to be a bit like that and a bit like Lucy from the Coppola version of Dracula.
Some have speculated that this is a version Rosaly, Hector’s future wife from Curse of Darkness. However she doesn’t match at all, not personality, nor looks. I have a feeling they purposely made her too seem like Rosaly since there are some similarities, but very generic.
Tumblr media
As you can see, long hair, very cheery-looking and innocent. Yet the hair and eyes don’t match at all. And even with the drastic changes they have done to the characters, see Isaac, Rosaly would need to have a certain look because of Julia later on.
Tumblr media
As you can see there’s an innocence to her, and while the woman’s dress is similar to nun wear, it’s clearly not the woman that later saves Hector. So who is she?
Well, there's the option of the Succubus character from a number of games.
Tumblr media
the attitude and the look on the face, along with the hair and fangs would at least connect to that overall innocent look that the character is going for.
However I think this may be Laura, Carmilla’s lover Laura, or she may be going by the name Lenore.
Tumblr media
So in the lore of Castlevania, Laura is Carmilla’s servant, and in the book, Laura was her food source. In the games, Carmilla attaches herself to the player and drains them of their hearts to help her mistress. She acts like an innocent victim but in truth, she’s just trying to lure the player into a false sense of security. Defeating Carmilla leads to her transforming into a fighter (in the first game she had cat ears as a nod to the Konami lady and a nod to the book where Carmilla fed off her in the form of a large cat),
Tumblr media
Who then proceeds to attack the player for defeating her mistress.
Given what she’s doing to Hector in the poster and what we see her doing in the trailer I don’t doubt that she’s playing with Hector to make him easier to feed on for Carmilla and screwing with him for her mistress as a plaything. They stand close together and it’s clear by the fact that she’s on the same side as Carmilla that she’s there to be a creature that is going to cause issues going forward.
More than likely, given her outfit, she was probably once a nun in the same church as Rosely and may feature in getting backstory for what happened to the church that Rosely was a part of.
Tumblr media
Alright, this is gonna be a doozy. So there’s a lot of speculation on who this woman is. Everything from Baba Yaga to a whole new character. So I have three major options here for who she could be.
Voiced by Barbra Steele, this is Miranda, a strange woman that Isaac meets. The thing is I think he’s in possibly the city near the Baljihet Mountains where the Garibaldi Temple is, that leads to the Tower of Evermore, where they may have put Legion. So why am I bringing this up? Well, there are various locations in Castlevania that get re-explored in other games, and one of those places is Aljiba, a coastal city that houses two characters that could play parts in this series. The Crystal Trader, who could be Sala, (more on that down lower) and the Old Crone, who is right below.
Option One is the Old Crone from Vampire Killer the sequel game in Japan to Castlevania.
Tumblr media
Old Crone is a merchant in the castle where Dracula is. By whipping them you get items and discounts and the like. (Yes it’s weird.) She also will give you hints of where Simon in the game can get a piece of Dracula, in this case, his eyes. It wouldn’t be too odd if Miranda could be used as this hint giver to Isaac going forward on his journey to resurrect Dracula. Physically the character appears to be this sort of person. However, the marking on the neck and the robes have me speculating otherwise.
Option two is the more likely character and one that has direct ties to Dracula himself and could explain the marking on the neck.
Drolta Tzuentes is a character from Castlevania Bloodlines and is an assistant of Elizabeth Bathory.
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of speculation around this character as she is very mysterious and was the one that revived Dracula’s niece Elizabeth in the game. She’s said to be very powerful and her looks seem to mirror that of the woman we see talking to Isaac. However, another big clue that this could be the character is that she may have been an alternative form to Death. (In the game she’s from it’s hinted heavily that she is.)
We know now that a character named “Judge” will be appearing, as played by Jason Isaacs. Why this is important is that this could be an allusion name to Death, and having both actors play different forms of the character makes sense.
IF this is the case this is a big deal due to what’s on the woman’s neck.
So if you don’t know Death is one of the main characters in Castlevania and he’s there to usually help revive Dracula as the two have a very interesting deal. When Mathias became Dracula he partnered with Death to take down the Vampire Walter whom Death was no longer interested in working with. Now Walter Bernhard, who was the Dracula before Dracula, and the man who took away Sara from Leon Belmont.
So why am I mentioning this? Well, Walter had on him one of two stones that are very important to the Lore of Castlevania. The Crimson Stone, which is the most important stone in the games history and what makes a person into Dracula (we will be getting back to that., and the Ebony stone which is a stone that allows the user to envelop its surroundings in eternal night and it was believed to control Death (it can’t).
Tumblr media
It’s really hard to see but in the center of the old woman’s neck, there’s a star with a round circular object. At the end of the game Lament of Innocence either Dracula or Death had the Ebony stone.
Tumblr media
If this is the stone, it would make sense then that this old woman would be Death in disguise, and explain her desires for killing them all, since the use of the dead would allow for Death to bring back Dracula using Isaac or Hector’s or even Trevor’s body to do so.
The other important thing to note is that the Belmonts have had a situation where Dracula has possessed them. So this is not beyond the scope for them to try this with Trevor.
On top of this, the image of Miranda that is used for the cast revel shows Miranda powering up, or using some sort of energy. This energy is a pinkish purple.
Tumblr media
Why is this important? Well, that color has connections directly to two characters in Castlevania Lore.
The first is Walter Bernhard, the Vampire that came before Dracula and lead directly to the reason why the Belmonts hunt vampires, and why Dracula exists. During the game Lament of Innocence Walter dies and that color engulfs him as he’s dying (and probably being sucked into the Crimson stone).
Tumblr media
Same colors, making me think this maybe some form of activation of her using the stone or giving something to Isaac.
The other option is Death again, where we see him using his powers, which again match the colors that we see Miranda using at this moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In both cases, this is when Death is activating his power, and as I said Death can show up in any form. Including an old woman.
Tumblr media
Ignoring the water, I want to point out the glass shards. It seems like they’re trying to harm Hector or punish him in some way. The glass shards make me think they shattered glass on the bars, and the water might be from a pitcher or something like that over a bucket. It’s clear that they’re treating Hector as nothing but an abused pet for them to play with, and I hope we get to see a stronger Hector break free of that. What has me concerned though is the fact that he’s naked, namely because I wonder if there are some implications of assault going on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I’m not sure if Hector has a collar on when he’s getting hit by the water. However, we can see that he’s dressed when interacting with Lenore (I’m using the name because it makes sense that this would be her). His hand is out to her probably as she’s tempting him or offering him something and then she pulls him to her and does the “Good Boy” moment.
It has me thinking that she’s going to add to the issues of distrust that Hector has and that Rosely is going to have to work through during the next season if she’s not in this one. I strongly suspect that this character is going to try to push Hector into helping her out stopping the others or promising to help him only to betray him in the end.
Tumblr media
So we know this is part of Isaac watching something, and probably has a connection to the green tower that we’re seeing. The reason this is significant is that Isaac ended up using some very strong powers to fight against Hector, and if he’s able to hold back Legion with his army, even subject it to his will, well then this could be an interesting fight if they go deeper into the lore of the Curse of Darkness game.
Tumblr media
Isaac’s army. So it seems that they’re having Isaac and his army of monsters coming after Legion who is cooped up with that tower. This is known as the Tower of Evermore it’s a sort of Battle arena in the game. So this is probably where Isaac ends up doing a lot of his dirty work in forging devils for his army that he intends to use on the trio and possibly Hector.
Tumblr media
The moon has always played an important part in Castlevania as a symbol of the mysteries of the night. The fact that we have Isaac on a black horse, cloaked in white (very much all things that could be associated with Death and the supernatural), gives rise to me suspecting that his journey into darkness is going to be happening a lot more significantly going forward. This is probably the same scene as him looking down and him with his monster army facing the tower.
Tumblr media
I strongly suspect that these are servants or citizens in Japan that were captured by the female Japanese vampire (I think her name was Cho), and they are being saved by the two vampire hunters we see later. It’s clear from this shot that they seemed resigned to their fate as food for her and her minions. This is also more than likely a flashback episode to give backstory to our female vampire hunter that is fighting Alucard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So here we have the duo that is probably Taka (Toru Uchikado) and Sumi (Rila Fukushima).  So I don’t know what their crests means; I’ve been trying to look that up, and have yet to find a family crest that matches, but more than likely these two are siblings under the same family as Mina Hakuba. Mina, for those that don’t know, Mina is the childhood friend of Soma Cruz, the reincarnation of Dracula. During the time of Aria of Sorrow, Soma came to visit Mina in Japan, as the two seemed to be developing feelings for one another. Mina is the main shrine Maiden of the Hakuba clan, and they helped in the saving of the world and have tied to Alucard.
We can assume that the fight between Sumi and Alucard happen after their fight with Cho (Japanese Vampire) and that Sumi may have been the one to make it out alive, or that she’s trying to find a way to convert her brother back to normal, ala the whole Order of Ecclesia situation.
Tumblr media
We know by the image of this scene that she’s outmatched so Alucard, it stands to reason, is going to try to protect her from probably making some bad mistakes and help her find a way to help her brother out, or free him from possibly Carmilla. This very much could be like the Fernandez cousins in Legacy of Darkness.
In that game, Carrie Fernandez was seeking out a way to save her elder sister Carmilla who had become a Vampire thanks to Actrisa, and is used as an obstacle to get to Dracula for Carrie’s Quest. In this case Sumi takes on the role of Carrie and Taka becomes Carmilla, who was turned and is right now a servant to the Vampires.
Tumblr media
If these two are set up in that way, then it makes sense why Sumi would be paired with Alucard in this manner. Both are resolved in trying to fix a mistake they made a long time ago, and Sumi probably could become a strong Ally for the team, and more than likely will be returning to Japan after this story concludes. If they are of the clan that Mina’s connected to it means that this could show exactly how Alucard became connected with the Hakuba clan in Japan if Sumi came to destroy Dracula.
 It’s also clear that Taka is probably the one fighting with the vampires in the scene below, and given we only see Sumi later, he’s likely to die or be cursed as a vampire. Which could tie into the idea of why she would travel that far to kill Cho or Dracula himself.
Tumblr media
Japanese Vampire’s underlings are facing Taka. Interesting design for them as they are more like the zombies from Japanese myths than the traditional vampires which is what Cho is.
Tumblr media
There’s also this fight with a samurai vs Cho and given his armor is not like that of what we see in Taka fighting, this means he’s someone else. He also looks a bit on the white side, so I have to wonder if he’s actually connected to Samurai William who worked for the Emperor at one point. William was an Englishman who became a Samurai in the Emperor's court for a long while, he wrote a book about it. It could be that he’s trying to take her down so that she doesn’t harm the royal family, or he self-styled himself as a vampire killer.
Either way, this has to be a flashback and connected to the whole situation with Taka and Sumi.
Tumblr media
So this Ugly looking thing is a piece of Legion. Legion is a rather large monster that is hard to deal with and seconds later we see it crashing down into a church, and cutting to The Judge who seems to be sent at some point to deal with them.
Tumblr media
So as you can see there, that’s Legion. It’s a huge fleshy body made of many corpse of those that were sacrificed to it. It seems here that rather than just having it crush it’s enemy it’s dropping parts of it as part of the attack.
Tumblr media
This is in line with its attacks in Curse of Darkness, and how it causes issues for others, with Zombies that explode. On top of this, it’s center is a human-looking being that has a Nuculais in the center.
Tumblr media
This is probably what Isaac is after, and Germain may be manipulating him to get it for use regarding Dracula.
Tumblr media
So this poster has a LOT going on.
First let’s take care of the Stain Germain at the top. He’s being played by Bill Nighy.
So who is Saint Germain? Well, he’s part of the Time Watcher’s group, whose goal is still mysterious as get out. He’s known to talk and interact with Trevor in the Pachinko versions of Castlevania III, and according to history, he was an alchemist of sorts.
Tumblr media
During the Curse of Darkness game, he’s trying to stop Hector from stopping Isaac, though he’s not saying why. He is not an enemy and seems to have a hate relationship with Zead (Death), though why that is we don’t know. He’s referenced by Aeon, the time traveler, and he himself mentions events farther in the future, such as the battle with Dracula in 1999.
What’s interesting here is that they have him holding what possibly is either a philosophers stone or the Crimson Stone. Now this is interesting because that stone is part of Dracula and given to him by Death himself. It holds the Soul of Walter Bernhard, Dracula’s enemy, and is known for being the treasure of the Vampires. Dracula needs this to come back.
Tumblr media
Why he has it, I can only guess it’s to stop whatever the heck Death has planned.
Other interesting factors. Hector on the left in Chains mirroring Trevor wrapped up in the Vampire Killer. A lot of Germain’s point is Destiny and both Hector and Trevor want to be free of them. Both are tightly bound, but Trevor is clearly pulling at his, trying to get it to stay away from causing his death. We also see both Sypha and Alucard both looking on in a way that seems to indicate connections to the heroes.
Then you have Isaac, who is slowly being wrapped up by thorns, but isn’t there yet. So that means his full plunge into the dark isn’t complete. He’s still fighting against it, and it may connect him to the heroes at this point.
Carmilla is clearly the opposing force here to the good Alucard. And we see that Hector is naked and trapped, though he’s being held lightly by Lenore, who seems to be acting gentle, but something about her look and set up seems to be hiding things. This is not someone that is truly being gentle to him, and, given that she’s probably a succubus, and working for Carmilla, she’s more than likely going to end up breaking his heart in some way.
Tumblr media
So the Captain as played by Lance Reddick. Not much is known of this guy, but if I have to hazard a guess, he may be connected to Isaac’s story and probably is based around the Captain from Rondo of blood, who pilots a ghost ship and is a later enemy in the game.
Tumblr media
Another option in regard to this is that the Captain may be the one that brings Isaac back from where he’s at for the moment. He seems to be a bit scared but maybe Isaac sees a kindred spirit in him and intends to use his services fairly as a means of traveling around to get to the location that he needs to.
Or he’s one of the men that Isaac ends up hating for whatever reason.
Or he’s actually the one that brings Sumi to where Alucard is. It’s a bit hard to judge based on the name the Captain as it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be playing a huge role, but maybe he’s just a nod to the games in this case. Though why hire a well-known actor to play a part without a name if he’s just going to be cannon fodder?
There’s also the chance that he’s actually the Ferryman, a character who actually goes and transports the heroes in the game. He seems to know Alucard. In the game the Ferryman is neutral, choosing to just help those that need to move around and such. So in that sense, he’s a lot like the ferryman of the river Stix in hades in Greek myth.
Tumblr media
Though the likelihood is that he’s going to come back as some servant to Isaac.
Tumblr media
Sala, has an interesting name meaning, in Arabic it means Order. And Sala here is voiced by Navid Negahban.
Now, who Sala is is a mystery but given we have an old crone like figure in Miranda, Sala maybe like the Crystal Trader in Aljiba who exchanges crystals in Simon’s Quest.
I can only assume for the most part he’s going to be an original character that could have links to maybe the Lords of Shadow versions of Castlevania, but since a lot of this has connections to the original games, and given his appearance, I’m going to guess he’s going to be linked with Isaac and his journey. Namely warning him of going down a dark path, or offering him help and assistance if he can destroy the Legion monster that is plaguing his town.
Given that he looks rather upset here just a bit, I think he’s in an argument. Now he also could be the leader of the town that Trevor is in, with Sypha, and owns the house that burns down. It’s hard really to say because there’s no other character in the games that quite match him, save the Crystal Traders maybe.
Tumblr media
Sypha’s change of an outfit is interesting. It’s far more dramatic in nature and more built for a fighter and a bit of a ninja-style, what with the wrap in the middle and the leggings and free-flowing arms. This is really the first we’ve seen Sypha do this with her magic, indicating that she’s getting stronger with her elemental control.
Tumblr media
So one other interesting thing is the Ice steps in the air. She apparently can create those now. This is probably during the werewolf fight that Trevor has since it’s in the forest. This is probably a deal with the town leaders to get rid of some monsters that are plaguing them.
Tumblr media
So there’s speculation on who this could be, but it looks like he’s going to just be a cult member, possibly a relation to Orlock or Shaft, both of whom are villains from other games in the franchise. Though he’s clearly human so I’m guessing he probably will be an Original Character for the show.  He’s probably part of a cult that is going to be trying to resurrect Dracula under the Judge. and more than likely will be just a side character to be used as cannon fodder.
Tumblr media
Remember that house that’s on fire with the windows? Well, that’s it in the background. So it seems like the Cult staged something to burn down the town after Trevor beat the hell out of their leader. Or enforcer, or whoever he may be.
Tumblr media
So recall way above about the Leviathan Cross? And how the two dudes were dressed before Trevor socked them? Well right now we can see that they are clearly part of a cult, and the Levithan Cross is their symbol. But how does that connect to the room? It could very well be that this is the group that Carmilla was referencing earlier along with Isaac. This group could be working for the Judge to bring back Dracula, or they could be working on their own to do so. Either way that room may be connected to this group given the alchemy symbol.
Tumblr media
However, I’m betting anything that that room may very well be connected to Carmilla’s castle and Hector was the one that drew that. Or one of the other members of the club.
Tumblr media
Okay, this one is something that keeps bugging me. There is no hint of Grant at all so far in this series. Yet, here we have a werewolf that has the wrappings that he wears in Judgement, minus the spikes, and of all things Grant’s red pants.
Tumblr media
So a few things about Grant DaNasty. As a noble thief, he was assigned as part of a group to go deal with Dracula and he ended up being transformed into a monster to act as a guard. During Castlevania III he’s freed by Trevor and pledges to help them out and later stays to help rebuild his home.
Grant was just seen as a demon in the game, but making him a werewolf would tie into the whole Legacy of Darkness, and Circle of the Moon that came later. Also, the spikes on the arms could be used to help climb walls and the like, since Grant is the stealthy one of the group.
Furthermore, the reason I bring up the red pants is that every human design of Grant has him looking like this.
Tumblr media
As you can see, bright red pants, much like the werewolf, and wraps on his arm. Now you can easily move the story of Grant from Dracula to Carmilla and have him be her guard. It would make sense too to have Grant be the one to inform Trevor and Sypha of the Cult or Carmilla’s doings. As a thief, he can get in and out faster and get information. Furthermore, it seems the best option when bringing him in as Grant is just as important to the team as Alucard, and maybe more so given he’s the one that stays to clean the messes up. Having his assistance could lead to some interesting moments and also leads later to the Belmont and DaNasty family connections for the future.
You see this group again, a Belmont, a DaNasty, a Beldanas and Alucard, all teamed up to fight Dracula one last time in 1999, and before then the Belmonts and DaNastys have had a close friendship teaming up at different points in history to fight Dracula and his minions. So not having Grant would be bad.
So I think, this werewolf will be Grant. Or at least I hope it will be Grant.
So New Look for Trevor Belmont it seems...
Tumblr media
He’s ditched his original look and now proudly it seems wears the Belmont crest right over his heart, probably indicating that he’s embraced his destiny in helping those in need. there seems to be a bit there connected to the 2008 comic series as well in the upper part of the look.
Tumblr media
It’s a little more connected to his Curse of Darkness look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there’s some going on with the look from the Pachinko games as well...
Tumblr media
So it seems more and more they are leaning into Curse of Darkness for this story. What’s also interesting in this case is that Trevor’s personality has drastically changed. While he’s still rough and tumble we see that he’s more willing to help out, he’s not drinking and he’s asking for help with things rather than just running off and not facing down consequences.
He’s become a more mature fighter and feels belief again in what he’s doing. What’s going to be fun in watching is how his older self (if he’s at all going to show up in Simon’s story) will behave as a father figure. Simon is the golden boy and in a lot of ways is like his father in that he’s brash and somewhat willing to spoil for a fight. But he has his mother’s gentle nature and is willing to go out of his way to protect those in need.
So seeing Trevor here, dealing with something that may be way bigger than just Dracula is going to be fun and probably lead him to a better understanding of the cost of Leon Belmont and why he did what he did.
Tumblr media
So The newest piece of art and again some interesting things.
Let’s look at the characters. We have our main trio, and oddly Alucard is at the forefront here. He’s not looking sad, but more like he’s looking when talking to Sumi about the situations. Unlike the earlier poster where it’s clear that he regrets killing his father.
Carmilla and Leigon are flanking him on the two sides, making me think he’s grappling with his actions leading to both these monsters rising because of it. I have to wonder if there’s going to be a moment where Carmilla tries to tempt Alucard, and which of these two are going to be the final boss for this season: Carmilla or Legion.
 Then there’s Trevor, and he’s using the Vampire killer and wrapping everyone up in its chains, effectively indicating that they’re all wrapped up in this whole destiny thing. Sypha is beside him, but looking ahead, as with Trevor and Alucard, showing that she’s trying to look forward to the future.
The whip is glowing, as with her magic ball, indicating that there’s going to be more to the magic and history behind the Vampire killer. The fact that Trevor’s using it shows that he’s embraced that destiny for himself and Sypha is beside him.
Then there are the roses. Typically this indicates love, which is something that has a deep connection to the Castlevania lore. All four characters that are not some evil amalgams monster have some form of love in their lives. Alucard had a familial love for his late mother and father and is dealing with the guilt of loving and losing them. Carmilla has a love of power and life and possibly Lenore, whom she may be doing a lot of mistakes in order to protect. Trevor and Sypha love each other romantically.
Now another love that happens is tragic love and that could be seen as the love between Leon Belmont and Sara Trantoul, his late fiance who sacrificed herself to create the Vampire Killer (in here the upgraded Morning Star Whip) after she was slowly becoming a vampire when Walter Bernhard captured her and bit her for his own amusement. This same Tragic love was visited twice on Dracula. Once for Elisabetha when he was human as Mathias and she died of illness when he was away during the crusades, causing him to reject god and take up plans to become a vampire. And again when her reincarnation of Lisa came about and died due to her being seen as a witch.
So Roses can be love, and roses are also connected to Rosaly, Hector’s future wife who was a former nun and a healer for the church. So the images of Roses could be significant in that sense too.
Then there are the butterflies that we see in the picture. Butterflies don’t normally have any tie to symbols in Castlevania. However, the color might have some connections to Sara Trantoul.
Tumblr media
Sara always wears blue in Lament of Innocence and is shown to be a kind and gentle soul who became twisted up in a fight between a man that lost the love of his life, and the man that wanted nothing more than the destruction and pain of love for his own amusement. So her being symbolized as a delicate butterfly would make perfect sense, along with the connection to Roses and thorns as we’ve seen with several pictures so far.
Tumblr media
So that’s it for part one. Part 2 is going to cover more about the scenes in the trailer and hopefully showcase more about the plot moving forward.
LONG JACKET A DESTIEL-ISH SERIES
Over the last few years, I’ve seen some of the craziest shit hunting with the Winchesters and their angel, Castiel. But this story right here? This isn’t about monsters. This isn’t about the battle between good and evil, heaven and hell. I understand all that.
It’s people I don’t get. People are crazy. And we do crazy things when we’re in love.
Tumblr media
PART V - JEANS
Summary: The fruits of their labor (well, some of their labor) pay off and the group lands a lead on the case. But once they learn what they’re up against, their odds of surviving wane. Warnings/Tags: Again, awkward flirting, mentions of rape Characters/Pairings: Castiel, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Female!Reader Word Count: 1,741
Tumblr media
“What is this?”
Sam stared at the list Dean had handed to him. “Businesses around the grocery store.”
“A barber, a record store,” Sam read aloud. “Nothing out of the ordinary. I’ll start looking into these places, see if anything jumps out.” He took the list to his laptop and dove right in.
I sat on the edge of the bed across the motel room as I flipped through local television stations. A breakfast burrito threatened to spill out of its wrapping as I bit into it, and I barely saved the renegade chunk of beef with a nearby napkin. “See anything strange last night?”
“Not a peep,” Dean stated. He was about to speak again as Castiel exited the bathroom in a fresh pair of jeans and a plain black t-shirt. Dean’s eyes widened but a fraction, so tiny a change that, before last night, I would have missed it.
But since then, every little quirk before and after confirmed my suspicions. A quick, knowing look passed between Sam and I. Though his focus remained on his computer, he muttered through his smirk, “Must have been boring.”
“Really boring,” I added as I hunched behind my burrito.
Palpable irritation bristled from Dean, and he struggled a moment before retorting. “Nowhere near as boring as I bet this motel room was last night.”
“Oh?” I mused. “So, you met up with Detective Williams then?”
He folded his arms across his chest and grumbled a petulant, “No.”
While fully aware that I prodded a sensitive nerve, I couldn’t help myself. “Why not?”
“Because!” he shouted. “Because I didn’t want to! Happy?!”
Nerve finally struck, I dropped the subject. “Alright, I get it. What did you find at the store?”
“It was closed,” Castiel stated as he stepped between Dean and I. “As was everything else.”
“Except the fortune-teller.”
Three heads, mine included, turned to Sam with a collective, “What?”
“The business right next door to the grocer,” he continued as he pointed to the list. “I looked up Madam Drina’s Visions. She’s some sort of fortune-teller or psychic.” Silence from our rapt attention spurred Sam onward. “The hours on her website list her open from noon to 2 am. Every day,” he explained. “That’s… unless she’s got two or more people working for her, that’s impossible.”
Dean dragged the container of breakfast potatoes across the table and popped three into his mouth. “Place looked mighty dark last night. How long she been there?”
“Gimme a second,” Sam replied as he clacked away on the keyboard of his laptop. Not a minute later, he said, “This doesn’t make any sense.”
“That’s not a good sign for the fortune teller,” Dean grumbled.
Confusion clouded Sam’s furrowed brow. “Unless this is a Dread Pirate Roberts situation,” he stated, “There’s no way any of this is possible. Madam Drina’s Visions has been in business for two and a half centuries across various locations. She’s only been here a few months. But, look at this.”
Sam spun the laptop to face us and slowly scrolled through a series of images. Like a portal into another time, the oldest photos passed first, dated and worn. Sam continued to work his way through the pictures, each decade well represented in fashion, décor, and medium. But then, out of the corner of my eye, a photo caught my attention as it crawled up the screen. It might as well have slapped my face, for I launched off the end of the bed and pointed as I spoke.
“Stop.”
Sam snatched his hand back from the laptop, and the screen stilled. I reached the table in two quick steps and scrolled back through the images until I found what had struck me. Recognition flashed in Dean’s narrowed stare, and he stood, ever so slowly, to back away from the table. Sam followed, rising as if the laptop itself might attack him were he to move too quickly.
Castiel, on the other hand, leaned in and squinted at the screen. “Is that what I think it is?”
A thick swallow bobbed Dean’s throat. He continued to back away from the computer as he said, “That right there is a very rare image of a partially revealed succubus. How in the hell does this picture even exist?”
“I have no fucking clue,” Sam replied as he, too, continued to inch away. “The photographer absolutely died right after taking that photo.”
“If the son of a bitch was lucky, he died right away…” Dean stated.
Despite my having spotted the picture, I had next to no clue what they were talking about. I raised my hand and said, “Hi, junior hunter here. Care to explain what a succubus is?”
“Sometimes, Y/N, I envy your innocence,” Dean began. “And I’m not poking fun when I say that. Succubi are…”
He paused then, hesitation hitching his breath in his throat. When he glanced at Castiel, his jaw clenched and his teeth ground. I followed that look and found Castiel still staring at the picture on the computer, squinting with his head cocked to the side as if to see it better.
Indeed, the picture was quite the puzzle. Candid. Mid-conversation. Unaware. Relaxed, even. The photographer must have called out to the group hanging out in what looked like a green room. And the medium itself looked like a Polaroid right out of the 80s, well preserved and taken with an expert hand. So innocuous, I couldn’t blame Sam or Dean for missing it at first.
In many fewer words, the image was dull.
Except for the faintest outline of a curling pair of horns protruding from Madam Drina’s head. And in her eyes shimmered the faintest purple glow, easily mistaken for red-eye or other retinal reflection. Further discoloration of her skin might be the Polaroid medium, but the subtle purple hue only showed on her. And the others? Four men, all staring at her, their gazes soft and smiles so big and bright.
“She killed all of them.”
Sam’s muttered thought interrupted my own, and I found him backed nearly to the bathroom. “What? How do you know that?”
“Look at them,” Dean said as he pointed. “She’s got them, hook, line, and sinker. They’re completely in her thrall.”
When I considered them again, understanding sank to the bottom of my stomach. “I’m getting a really gross vibe. What does a succubus do to its… prey?”
A full flush consumed Dean’s face, pursed lips releasing a deep breath. “They eat souls. Suck you dry until you’re nothing but a husk. And if you’re lucky, that’s the first thing they do to you.”
My mouth dried, and I stumbled over my words. “And… what if you’re not lucky?”
Sam spoke when Dean remained silent for too long. “They take every pleasure of the flesh imaginable from you. Over. And over. And over again. They break your mind, your body, your spirit—all of it. The worst of it is, their ultimate power convinces you that you want it. That you cannot live without their touch, their attention, or their... satisfaction.”
Goosebumps raced along my arms as a violent wave of nausea threatened to undo my breakfast. Holy hell. A real, live, literal rape-demon. Never in my life had I felt such righteous anger at another living creature. “We have to kill it.”
“Y/N, I’d love nothing more than to waste a succubus,” Dean growled. “Were it an incubus, there wouldn’t be an issue. I’d go over there right now and put a stake through its heart, and we’d be back on the road before dinner.”
Castiel spoke when Dean finished. “But succubi only target men.”
“Considering that they’re a particular kind of demon that needs to eat souls to survive, they’re damn picky,” Dean spat. “Bigoted bastards. I fucking hate ‘em. I hate ‘em all.”
Though wildly uncomfortable with the entire situation, I knew what I had to do. I had rarely felt such contempt for someone. Something. God, my skin crawled just thinking about it. Resolved, I spoke.
“I’ll kill it.”
Dean regarded me as if I’d sprouted a second head. “No,” he declared. “No way, we’re not sending you in there alone.”
“Back me up,” I interrupted. “I can distract her, and you take her out.”
“One of us should be bait,” Castiel determined. “I could. I am most likely immune to her powers.”
“Most likely?!” Dean bellowed. “You’re not even sure?! No way. If anyone’s going in there to be bait, it’s me.”
Castiel jumped up from the bed and shouted, a rare sight. “Do you have a death-wish?! Why are you always so willing to sacrifice yourself?!”
“Because it’s the right damn thing to do!” Dean barked.
“Hey!” I shouted, “Calm down! Both of you!” Neither Dean nor Castiel would budge an inch until I demanded, “Now!” Dean turned back first, and while Castiel remained where he stood, his stare dropped to his feet. “Christ, you two need couple’s counseling or something, this is getting ridiculous.”
“What?! We’re not—”
“Dean, it was a joke,” I interrupted. “Look, since none of you are guaranteed to survive as bait for a succubus, I am going in. End of—”
Nothing could have prepared me for the look I found on Sam’s face at that moment. Conflict raged beneath the surface, contorting his too pretty face. All my confidence fled in that instant, abandoning me to freeze in its chilling wake. And in its place, guilt and shame and distrust swelled for a cocktail so potent, the room spun.
“Are you sure, Y/N?” Sam asked.
No. Not anymore. But I heard myself say, “Yes.”
His conflict twisted into pain in his reddening eyes. But he acquiesced, nodding silently and heading for the motel room door. Over his shoulder, he said, “We should get this over with tonight. I’ll start prepping.” With that, he strode through the door, presumably for the Impala.
Dean followed him without a word. Though I knew Castiel yet lingered by my side, I startled when he spoke.
“I trust you, Y/N.” He placed a confident hand on my shoulder. “Whatever happens, we’ll be there to help, should the need arise.”
“Thanks, Cas,” I replied.
“Any time,” he said as he led me to the door. “Let’s give the guys a hand.”
Anything to take my mind off my impending doom. I strode through the door into the mid-morning sun and wondered if the weekend could get any more fucked up.
Raven and Duke go out street dancing and she surprises him and the audience by knowing how to do Hip Hop dances to like Saweetie or something. Just something I thought would be different, I love your stories by the way and really enjoy your JayRae one-shots. Thx :)
Hello,
I do hope you enjoy this, I love how the Duke and Rae friendship develope in the HfaB universe so I gave a spoiler to the way later release in the Series: Missing a Six
Know now I know nothing about hip-hop other than trying out Saweetie just now.
Daily Bugle...
This universe was so bizarre, and so similar and cool to his own, Duke was a bit miffed. He was walking through New York City with Rachel. There was surprisingly no Gotham, which had annoyed him a bit because according to Rachel they couldn’t reach out to their normal groups. Instead of the Times there was this news outlet called the Daily Bugle, which sounded like a nightmare. There were hundreds of things which were odd here, Spidey-O’s rather than Cheerios, IYugo cars, Mr. Tomato Head, IL Gionale, RedEx, Backrub, and other things, they were different from his universe. Which was how he knew he wasn’t on his earth, other than the distinct missing of his home. They were so not home.
There was also a distinct racial issue between ‘humans’ and ‘mutants’ which was unusual in his mind.
Back home, when metas and aliens were coming around as a common thing. Metas were just, metas, people didn’t have as many issues with them, and still were very racists, homophobic, and theophobia, metas weren’t a massive concern really. Schools and communities had merely adapted to having metas appear, and with people like Flash as the face for S.T.A.R. Labs, it was very easy to keep a positive face going. Plus the hero community wasn’t just heroes, it was often that; outside of the Bats; that other hero families did public talks, talked to the schools and communities and held lessons for meta kids who needed to learn their powers. Plus, Bats were normal humans so it wasn’t like the normal humans feared not being able to fight a meta. Okay, his family wasn’t the poster for the ‘normal human vigilantes’, the Arrows were, but the point stood they had a way to stand equal with the ‘Gods’ that were their heroes and hold their own. It brought a lot of respect between humans and metas.
Rae and he had made it to Harlem now, which was very different from his earth’s Harlem.
They were looking for Jason and Damian, who ahd been through the portal with them when Rachel’s Uncle Balthazar came running into the Manor and threw them through a portal to god knows where. Duke was a bit surprise Jason hadn’t somehow gotten here with Rachel, since Rachel had returned his big brother wasn’t very good about letting Rae out of his sight, or not knowing where she was. If Jay was not with Rae he was texting her, and if they weren’t doing that, they were probably together, and when Jason was extremely agitated he would call her. Not that Duke could really blame Jay for this reaction, if it had been Naomi who died Duke was pretty sure he’d have a hard time coping or letting her out of his sight if she resurrected.
Rae stopped and Duke did too, there were guys in a crowd dancing to some sick beats, he could admit they had skills, and the courts were in use. Life here was a bit different, everyone seemed defiantly tense like they were expecting trouble to come tearing through any minute.
“They’re good,” Rae said as she clapped after one guy spun out of performance and another girl spun in. Duke chuckled as he slung an arm around Rae’s shoulders, so she didn’t get pushed away from him. Rae just accept these actions, but he had noticed she only ever leaned into Jay when he did this with her.
“See in Gotham when they did this it was always cool, and the artist’s gets to put out their beats with people dancing, it shows how good they are as an artist.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, purpose of this kind of music is to speak, body, mind and soul, you touch those three and get people moving with the beats, you’re a success,” Duke said.
“And how about you? Can you dance?” she asked, a wry smile on her lips.
“You been spending way too much time with Jay,” he stated. She smiled like his elder brother did, and it was that unnerving smile just before they did something no one would expect of them. Rae moved away from him, tossing her jacket; which was actually Jason’s he noted before she joined the street performers.
Duke’s jaw dropped.
Personally he had always thought Rae to be like Cass and the ballerina type, but as he watched her move with the music he had had to admit she had skills. Her hips swiveled, her steps were paced, she did a thing with her hands and arms and she seemed to bewitch everyone in the crowd.
Rachel or Raven were always so elegant, so commanding and graceful, she was never out of place or nor was she ever klutzy. Rae was subconsciously elegant, and with how she moved with the street dancers was bewitching, and commanding and somehow, seductive. If Jay was here, Duke would bet his brother would be a useless puddle of goo; despite whatever he’d claim; watching Rae. Duke smiled when she held her hand out, and he took it, spinning her before he joined the dance with her.
Careful with his hands he enjoyed it, he hadn’t street danced in YEARS, Rae laughed as she skipped out, and he continued to enjoy the rhythm and music before he slid out of the performance.
“Where’d you learn to dance like that?” he asked with a laugh as she tossed him his own jacket.
“Vic actually used to take me to all sorts of street events, street dancing, court basket ball, field baseball, give me the normal earth experience,” she chuckled.
“Damn,” he whistled.
“It was a lot of fun, I haven’t done it for years, he and I usually would go,” she mused as she pulled her hair into a ponytail.
“You ever show Jay your moves?” he asked.
“No,” Rae shrugged.
“You’d totally get him if you did.”
“I’m not after him, now gimme that Daily Bugle, I need to figure out where the hell Balthazar blasted us!” she said.
“We still need to find Jay and Dami,” he sighed.
“Jason and Damian will be fine, they’re perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, and we’ll find them eventually.”
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart trailer analysis
For those that haven’t heard yet, Insomniac Games has released a trailer for there new Ratchet & Clank game yesterday, called Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
I don’t think I need to say how excited I am for it but I’m going to anyway. IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME ! For those that haven’t heard about it yet, here is a link to a video showing the trailer for the game as well as gameplay of it:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsnG-3-r6-Q
The game looked so amazing that I did na analysis of the trailer last night and thought Id post it on my Tumblr page for anyone to read. HUGES spoilers ahead. Also I apologize or the spacing as for some reason I can't separate the paragraphs any longer then they are now.
First is the trailer
First off we get a shot of the amazing animation of the game till Ratchet & Clank drop in, literally, but did they just come out of a dimensional rift ? This has to mean the Dimensionator has to be involved in this somehow. We then see another amazing example of the games design and graphics of what looks like planet Sargasso (which would be cool to go to again) till Clank brings up how they need to get to something, the Dimensionator maybe ?, till he is distracted by an Antropod/Terratrope followed by another rift releasing robots shooting at them and though I’ve seen the trailer already, I quickly got a Dr. Nefarious vibe from them.
Then something unexpected happens as Ratchet RIDES the bug and uses it to take down the robots ! Now I haven’t played Spyro in years but that charging attack reminds me a bit of the charge attack Spyro uses in the games, did anyone else think that? If that was on purpose then its nice to see that Insomniac Games still remembers there roots which gives me comfort with them making awesome Spider Man games in the future without worrying about them ignoring there Ratchet & Clank fans.
After some animal handling gameplay, Ratchet and Clank are thrown into a rift and we see a series of shattered pink/purple glass images of places only for them to quickly grind and slide though two planets, maybe existing ones at the night one kinda looks like Veldin while the city one could be Metropolis or Meridian City, with Clank saying the dimensions are weakening which again backs up the idea of the Dimesinator being involved.  I do want to say that during the quick grind rail segment, the Grind Boots looked much better in design compared to there previous appearances, which were kinda lazy in my opinion. I hope this means they and the Gravity Boots will be different in appearance instead of in color. I should also say it shown that you can DOUBLE JUMP while grinding, which is a cool small change for the iconic mechanic.
We then see Ratchet ride another animal, this time with wings, on planet Torren IV which though I’m not 100% sure I think I saw a Hoverboot boost pad. Could the Hoverboots be in the game ? Before I continue I want to say the idea of Ratchet riding and controlling animals is a really awesome idea, not only would this be an interesting twist to combat in the game but it would also be another interesting way to travel throughout the levels, which Id be ok with doing IF the Hoverboots aren’t in Rift Apart.
Either way this ends quickly as Ratchet & Clank hop to another planet, a new one according to them but again teleport to planet Ardolis where Ratchet fights robot pirates (AWESOME) who are dealing with a creature. I wonder if Captain Slag and Rusty Pete will be in the game ? During a fight we see Ratchet uses a new weapons, specifically a new BLASTER like weapon that has a rapid-fire feature, which I am thankful for cause I couldn’t take another game with the Combuster.
The fight quickly ends as the explosive barrel explodes and Clank gets thrown through a dimensional rift and is separated from Ratchet, NO ! but also AWESOME cause it gives a A Crack In Time like vibe. The hype is then taken up a notch where its revealed that Clank is on a planet run by none other then DR. NEFARIOUS, Clank saying they are to late, meaning those robots at the beginning WERE his and he is somehow causing all of this, maybe.
Speaking of which Im not sure how I feel about Dr. Nefarious being the main antagonist of ANOTHER game. Don't get me wrong he's still an awesome character but it would also be nice to face a new villain for a change, plus it makes me nervous that this could mean Nefarious could be defeated once and for all which could ruin a big part of the story of the R&C trilogy finale I made some time ago.
HOWEVER I think we can all agree that the biggest thing about this trailer is that while Clank is calling for Ratchet a blue and gray/white colored female Lombax with a robotic arm appears wondering who Clank is talking about, which again gives off A Crack In Time like vibes and…..she’s carrying a hammer ? A bit odd since Lombaxes are affiliated with wrenches but its still an amazing idea. Then we get the name of the game which though I hate to say, the text makes it looks a bit bad as its looks poorly rendered especially at the "and" section and what’s that thing between the words Rift and Apart ? Is that a dimensional rift ?
Other then that the trailer is amazing.
Now for the gameplay
So Marcus Smith does confirm some things about Rift Apart like how this will be a full length game and how those things teleporting Ratchet & Clank were dimensional rifts that will allow them to teleport form planet to planet which though cool its goanna be a bit sad not being able to use Aphelion in the game, I wish she could have more speaking roles in games as she IS one of the last few things from the Lombaxes.
He also says that the new graphic allows them to put something called ray trace reflections on Clank, which along with some other people I’ve seen, I agree makes him look really odd. Hopefully before the game comes out they fix this by toning it down  and maybe add a bit of white in there like his older appearances. He then says that the planets are denser with new creatures and that Ratchet has a new arsenal, which sounds perfect to me. He then states that R&C is close to the company’s hearts and can’t wait to show more of it, which again gives comfort.
We get to the gameplay and immediately were introduced to a new mechanic where Ratchet uses a gadget called the Rift Tether to go through a yellow rift similar to that scene in Avenger: Infinity Wars where (spoilers) Thanos uses the stones to pull Dr. Strange closer to him, pulling the area around him towards him in the process. We then see Ratchet fight a Thug for Less enemy, which is cool but not surprising since there were many signs that this game would make references to there other games and this is confirmed seconds later where we see Ratchet fight some Sandsharks. We also get to see several new species of aliens here.
During the Sandshark section we do see a NEW comet strike as unlike in previous games the Omniwrench is thrown diagonally and it looks like it returns to your hand faster. I feel like this change was done for the new female Lombax as I feel like she can do the same thing but since her melee weapon is a a hammer, it wouldn’t really work (or make since) if thrown horizontally, and it would be confusing to have two character with two different ways of throwing there melee weapon. Though I’m not that big a fan of changes I don’t really mind it, heck maybe its a one time thing.
After some more chaos like a giant tentacle creature coming out of the portal, similar to the one in the trailer, and what looks like an Ultra-Mech Unlimited crashing through a walkway Ratchet and Clank were in we get some interesting content in the next cut. One is Ratchet saying something about “break reality” again telling reality is coming apart because of theses rifts, quickly followed by Clank saying Dr. Nefarious has come out of hiding after years of hiding to take over the universe again which means that this IS a post Into The Nexus game, as I’ve seen some people debate about if it is or not.
We get another new game mechanic during the fight with some thugs. It seems that Ratchet can now jump to his left or right in order to avoid incoming damage by using a thruster on his boots, could this mean the Hoverboots are really in the game but are damaged ? It would be cool if during the game Ratchet & Clank or Ratchet goes to Azimuths house on Torren IV to find something about the Dimensionator but also find a part needed to fix his hoverboots thus letting Ratchet use them to get around, especially if the part of the trailer of Ratchet and Clank getting separated IS true.
Were also introduced to new weapons here. One is called a Shatterbomb, the bomb glove weapon, The Enforcer a shotgun like weapon and the Burst Pistol which is the blaster shown in the trailer and would explain its rapid fire ability. The most interesting weapon shown so far is the Topiary Sprinkler, a weapon that when thrown forms into a sprinkler that can project plants around it and shoots out a stream of water that can stop enemies in there place, plus I bet the plants around it is a form of defense system to protect the sprinkler for a time.
The gameplay ends with Ratchet destroying some Robomutts and going though a hallway where a statue of Dr. Nefarious or a mech in his image can be seen but also there is a moment where a purple energy ways rushes through the surrounding areas, just like in another R&C game but that’s for another post, no spoilers now.
Wow that was a lot to write but that’s because there was SO MUCH going on in theses trailers and I’m pretty sure I missed some things. I’m already working on a theory on what’s going to happen in this game, which will most likely come out during the weekend so stay tuned for that.
What were your thoughts on the trailers ? What was your favorite moment in them, and did you noticed anything in them I didn’t talked about ?
