Follow Your Own Advice
Follow your own advice.
Stop looking for validation.
Study. Read. Listen. Observe. Act.
Your reality is the consequence of your own actions.
And if the results don’t match your expectations? If things don’t turn out the way you wanted?
At least you were true to yourself.
At least you lived by your own choices, not someone else’s.
And sometimes—many times—what we want is not what we need.
We must learn to understand that.

"If" Rudyard Kipling.
"If—" is a poem by Rudyard Kipling, first published in 1910. It is a timeless piece of literature that offers wisdom and advice on how to navigate the challenges and uncertainties of life. Here is the poem "If"
"If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!"

This poem is often regarded as a guide for personal integrity, perseverance, and maintaining one's composure in the face of adversity.
Joseph Rudyard Kipling was an English novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist. He was born in British India.
Born: 30 December 1865, Mumbai, India
Died: 18 January 1936, London.
Childhood in India: Kipling was born on December 30, 1865, in Bombay, British India (now Mumbai, India). His early years were spent in India, and the sights and sounds of the country greatly influenced his later works, including some of his most famous stories like "The Jungle Book."
Nobel Prize in Literature: In 1907, Rudyard Kipling became the first English-language writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. At the age of 41, he received the prestigious honor, primarily for his narrative mastery and his depiction of British imperialism.
Kipling's Voice: Kipling was an early enthusiast of audio recordings. In 1899, Thomas Edison recorded Kipling reading his poem "If—" on an Edison phonograph, making him one of the first authors to have their voice preserved in this manner. You can still find recordings of his voice online.
War Correspondent: During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kipling worked as a war correspondent. He covered the Boer War in South Africa and later the First World War. His experiences as a correspondent and his son's death in World War I deeply affected him and influenced his later writings.
The Kipling Family and Disney: Rudyard Kipling's works, particularly "The Jungle Book," were adapted into successful Disney animated films. Interestingly, Kipling's daughter, Elsie, was instrumental in negotiating the rights with Disney for the adaptation. The films, released in 1967 and 2016, brought Kipling's classic stories to a new generation of audiences.

The truth about people "using" you is that it can happen to anyone, at any point in life, and it often stems from an imbalance in a relationship where one person takes more than they give, often with little regard for your feelings or needs. While not always malicious, it can leave you feeling drained, undervalued, and emotionally manipulated.

A kid at heart
To be a kid at heart is to embody optimism, to see the goodness and potential in everyone, and to carry a spirit that is eternally cheerful, energetic, and resilient. But is it always wise to remain a kid at heart? The art is in balancing that youthful spirit with an adult’s discernment. While a childlike heart embraces wonder, it also needs guidance. Blind trust can mislead. Fantasies of angels…

How to tell your anxiety and your intuition apart.
Step 1: Pause.
When indecision floods in, take a moment and breathe. Theres no immediate threat. Let your mind empty out or focus on a different task or thought.
Go grab a snack instead of staring at the book page on your computer.
Step 2: Decide how you want to feel.
When you’re back to the present, ask yourself, “What is it that I really want to experience, feel, or do? What’s one way I can make that experience, feeling, or action happen?”
Give yourself a moment to just turn back to the original intention.
Why Rome?
Maybe it’s that you want adventure. Maybe it’s that you want to feel in love with your life. Maybe it’s that you want to feel free.
Whatever it is, turn your attention back to that feeling.
Step 3: Focus on the process not the outcome.
Anxiety is focused primarily on outcomes, and intuition is focussed primarily on the process. When you can sense your anxiety starting to go to the worst case scenario, pull back completely to this moment and the specific action you’re taking in the present.
Does book this flight in this exact moment feel right?
Or do you want to research apartments to rent and then book your flight so you’re not worried about where you’re going to live?
Or do you want to close your computer, go to bed, and book your flight in the morning when you’re more rested?
Step 4: Baby steps.
Choose one action, the smaller the better, that is connected to how you want to feel (that just you identified above).
Then, do it.
Take a leap too big that you’re maybe not totally ready for and you might feel like you’re taking three steps back.
Find ways that you can test the waters of stepping outside of your comfort zone without jumping into the deep end. Remember you’re learning to swim and you want this to be a positive experience.
And booking your one-way fight to Rome feels like right now feels like jumping into the deep end.
So what if you just visit for a long weekend first?
Or maybe you join a Facebook group to start meeting new Italian humans?
Or you head to the travel section of your local book shop peruse the shelves for books on Roman life past and ancient?
Choose the next best step that feels right to you.
