I found this phenomena (Selfshipper saying "pro/comshippers fuck off") both funny and annoying tbh

This kind of selfshippers really don't know the terms they're using yk? And it can get both funny and annoying, it depends mostly in the context of the post. For example if it's just the tags I tend to laugh about it, but if the post has more hate and it's more directed to pro/comshippers is when it gets annoying

Sorry to break it to y'all hater selfshippers, but...

If you say that selfshipping is ok you're a proshipper, maybe not in 100% all the word name but that doesn't make you less proshipper

If you selfship well congratulations, you're a comshipper just because of that, I'm so glad you found yourself buddy

Honestly it's hilarious how the attack their own people without even understanding the meanings, guys you're misinterpreting all the meaning of the terms, you're using the incorrect definitions made by people who think they're morally superior and didn't know shit about all this terms and history before starting to use it an putting them bad definitions

maybe you don't think about them very often. maybe you can't imagine being affectionate with them. maybe you don't gush about them, or you find it hard to articulate how you feel about them. maybe you're not very active on your selfship blog, or maybe you don't have one in the first place. maybe you're neurodivergent or somewhere on the ace spectrum. maybe you're just independent.

for any reason at all, your f/o(s) would understand.

they know that affection is only one aspect of the feeling of love, and they would never assume that you "don't actually love" them just because you're less dependent on them. they would try to understand how you express your love in your own unique way, and they would give you all the space you need without crossing your boundaries or forcing anything on you. they would be patient and work with you to make sure both of your needs are met.

and that’s how you eventually drift off, warm under the blankets and content with your partner safe and secure by your side. you know that when they eventually wake up, they’ll be so happy to see that you decided to join them. ❥

Hey there less popular selfshippers

I know it can be hard to see your posts and gushes and art and writing and whatever you make for your ships go unnoticed. I know sometimes it can make your own ships feel less valid because it seems like people don't care about it as much.

But listen, I promise you that's not true. Your ship is just as valid as another person's, whether you get a bunch of notes or not. Your content for your ships is just as special because it's yours and you made it for you, and if a few others enjoy it that's just a bonus.

And if it means anything, I support your love for your F/Os and your ships. Even if we share F/Os that I am uncomfortable sharing and I may not directly reblog or like things for personal reasons, I still support your love just as much because they make you happy and that makes me happy. I'm sure others may feel that way too.

I know we've placed such importance on notes and reblogs and popularity, but in the end those aren't the most important thing regarding your love for your F/Os and ships. Even if you only get notes from some friends and mutuals, your selfship is just as wonderful as another person's.

You love your F/Os and ships and they make you happy, and I support all of you and hope you continue to gain happiness from them no matter how big or small you are.

Actual genuine question: gore/cannibalism is proship?? Selfship is proship??? I??? I'm friends with the most anti people in existence but they all really like cannibalism and gore and everything tied to it. One even does selfshipping. I'm genuinely really confused on what counts as anti because I thought it was strictly tied to "problematic" ships and/or sexual violence

Problematic, but technically not proship. A 'proship' is not a thing. That configuration of letters can only be used in 'proshipper', aka 'a person who minds their own business in fiction'.

Cannibalistic stuff like Hannigram would be considered a comship or darkship, though.

I'm admittedly not *super* well-versed on selfship, but it was allegedly created by selfshippers. I imagine it is problematic in the same way that selfcest is problematic...its a weird, blurry area.

selfshippers, if your f/o is based in reality, i have a question. have you ever considered, like really considered, their financial habits? i can understand never considering them, especially considering selfshipping is a comforting escape from the stresses of reality for many of us, but i just out of nowhere started thinking about the way joe dirt manages his money last night for the first time ever and i just have so many questions.

like, for example, does your f/o have any bank accounts? if they do, do they have a savings account open or do they just throw everything into checking? or do they hate dealing with banks and just keep all their money in their sock drawer or in an empty cookie jar on the top shelf in the kitchen? what’s their credit score like? do they have any lines of credit open? do they have any debt? what are their budgeting skills like? i feel like i’ve accidentally unlocked a whole new layer of realistic headcanons to explore because i realized in the middle of the night that i married a man with no credit score 😭.

Good question.

Truth is, throughout the many F/Os I’ve had, I almost never had any S/Is other than just me irl. I’ve had one only for Muffet from Undertale, really (and even then, it was an anthro Pokésona). But other than that? None for my F/Os from Deltarune, or Hazbin/Helluva, or TADC. Hell, I never even had a Beastars S/I when Juno was my F/O.

I think a large part of it, now that I think about it, has to do with my subconscious. I’m basically hardwired to think that I’d feel a helluva lot closer to my F/Os if I just didn’t have an S/I. Like, my aliensona is literally me if you care, but for some reason I just feel a certain way that’s better if I didn’t use him for selfshipping. Is that necessarily a bad thing? /genq

I think the experience for S/Is and how they use them is different for everyone. But I feel the most comfort in not using one. But if I were to use a cat S/I for Petal, I would most likely just use myself and him interchangeably and at the same time, like I did with Muffet. Maybe I can write myself as having the ability to shapeshift from human to cat form and back? Idk how that would work in the KINAC universe tho.

I actually have thought about using an S/I for her once, but decided against it lol. But you got me thinking about it again.
