Sydney Adamu; Donna's antithesis
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE BIG PARALLEL: THE QUEEN OF THE KITCHEN
Donna's introduction to the audience is in her kitchen, where she is the leader, the center of the action; all orders come from her, and the dynamic in the family is created primarily by her. She has assigned (indirectly or so) the roles of all the family members that keep the family working in the way it does. She is the queen, the leader—a role she was given by nature.
And what is Sydney's job in the kitchen? The CDC, even when she was a sous, she was already taking the responsibilities of the CDC. She is their queen, their leader in their kitchen—a role she was given by choice.
The writers had given Sydney every opportunity to be Donna so they could show us how much of Donna she is not. Here are my favorite examples of it.
Donna brings guilt, and Sydney brings grace.
Tumblr media
Donna created her daughter's nickname after a mistake she made as a kid (probably when Nat was nervous and afraid to fail her), messing up a recipe.
Sydney gave grace to Tina when she messed up the recipe for the mashed potatoes. Sydney could have used that opportunity to get back at Tina for making her look bad in front of Carmy and all the other stuff. Sydney decided to be the bigger person; God, Sydney was not trying to make Tina own or like her. She just decided that is not what she is. She acknowledged that Tina was trying something new and wanted to be available in case Tina needed help. Sydney gave Tina clear expectations, recognized the task's difficulty, and offered help. Later, she was graceful when a mistake was made, and gave positive reinforcement when the job was well done. We learned then that Tinas was terribly afraid of being displaced or not good enough. Sydney is giving Tina all the things Donna should have given Nat.
Another exmaple of this is when Richie and Sydney are shopping for caulk. She just buys the right one; she doesn't rub it in his face or call him stupid or careless. In all their conversation, Sydney tried to understand more, not put more fire into the pile. Richie recognizes that, and I think this is when he starts to respect her, even a little.
Donna brings chaos, Sydney brings order.
Both women have the role of being the center (heart) of the kitchen. Only Donna can touch the food in her kitchen, while Sydney delegates the kitchen tasks to the restaurant employees.
Donna gives the absence of self, and Sydney brings purpose.
To please their mother, try to win her love, or just survive the household dynamics, the Berzatto siblings had to adopt behaviors/personalities that were not natural to them. Mickey was at least 18 when his father left; he took the provider position by helping her mom run the restaurant. He also took care of his siblings. He was his ultimate ally in helping the family feel like a family, particularly by always being capable of "dialing a room" to make everyone feel entertained, appreciated, have fun, and be a family. For all these reasons, he was Donna's favorite, and the other two siblings were neglected because of it. Neither Nat of Carmy felt really like she was there for them; she probably didn't encourage Carmy to draw or Nat in anything. Nat and Carmy grew up believing their talents/nature were useless because they didn't please their mom. Neither of them recognizes the things they are good at outside the kitchen: Nat diminishes her husband's compliments on her hard work, and Carmy ignores compliments on his drawings.
Sydney, on the other hand, can encourage Marcus to follow his passion for baking. She supports Tina in her culinary journey to the point of her becoming the third person in charge. She asked Nat to be the project manager because, in the few interactions she had with her, she perceived (or it was intuition) Nat's attention to detail, caring nature, and responsibility. In the climax of the second season, she trusts Richie to do the calling of the orders when she has no reason to believe he can, and he solidifies his purpose. Sydney "nurtured" everybody's natural talents and trusted them to walk independently. That is what a good parent or leader does. It is such a brilliant subtext. Important to note she doesn't do that with Carmy, because Carmy is her equal, her partner-to-be.
Other ones:
There is also to mention the fact that Sydney was a professional driver, and Donna tried to crash a car in her own house. Talking about metaphors.
Also, Sydney doesn't indulge in any of the toxic behaviors that the Berzattos learned from Donna, neither Carmy nor Richie's bullshit nor the rest of the staff. Little by little, she fought fire with water, and she won, maybe because she is more like a river than a drop. She had a purpose on her own, an identity, a past that she kept to herself, and a desire to move forward. People started to respect her the more they relied on her and the more she didn't give in to the toxic traits that were ruling them before. They saw the good and followed it.
Sydney may not rely on toxic dynamics to lead her kitchen, but she will not let others take advantage of her. She did not pick on Carmy's slack last season for him but despite him. She doesn't believe that is what she is supposed to do, not only as her employee but friend and possible romantic interest. She calls the bad behaviors/tendencies by it's name. And communicates she won't have it, while also saying she belives in him.
Tumblr media
I think most of the audience (besides the ones in this fandom) really doesn't understand how extraordinary Sydney is. If she wasn't as well-written as she is, with defects and fears, people would think that she is the "saint woman/magic woman" archetype, making everything previously broken work in her presence. I also think it is because she is a woman, and women are expected to bring magic and be fixers and helpers. There is also the fact that she is a black woman, and everything that comes with that, but I cannot comment on that, so I am not going to. Just saying she is one of the most amazing role models I have seen, decorated with the price of also being one of the most complex female characters on screen. She is not perfect as a person and has not reached her whole potential, and she wants it. I respect and admire her so much. Even when Carmy seems to have a longer path of healing ahead, I want Sydney to win the most, not just heal. I want to know more about her, her intimate desires, and why is her heart broken. Long gone are the days when women lived on screen to make everybody around them better and happier. All the things she is extraordinary for, the ones I talked about, are not just reasons why Carmy had admired her or fallen for her. She is, for me, a champion preparing for live-defining battles. We know who she is, and we get to discover what else she could be, to grow in her self-confidence, her purpose, and what brings pleasure to her soul. She is considered now the show's co-protagonist.
And I hope in s3 we are in for a journey. She made all the difference. Thank you for reading.

chef luca masterlist | full masterlist
After a tumultuous holiday season, it doesn’t take long for Sydney to realize that her friend is in need of a little help. A reprieve, she so kindly explained to both Marcus and Carmy when she’d proposed the idea.
It was Sydney this time, who called Luca, knowing that she and Carmy would have to find something to do with Marcus. It wasn’t fair – that he’d lost his mom just before Thanksgiving – and they both agreed that Marcus needed to get out of dodge. Quick to act, Carmy set up a few stages in NYC for a week or so, which, while seemed to inspire Marcus, seemed to only plunge him further into a slump come Christmas. “I don’t know. I think we gotta send him on some kinda… eat, pray, love trip. The guy can only sulk on my couch for so long before I consider jumping out of the window,” Sydney says, her attempt to lighten the mood with humor still genuine. “It’s getting sad, Carm. Like… real fuckin’ sad.”
“You’re right. Uh… what about Copenhagen?” Carmy pitches with a shrug, because he knows what all consuming grief feels like.
“Again?” she asks, uncertain of whether it’s the best choice that they could make.
“Yeah,” Carmy shrugs in response. “Think he got a lot of it last time. Could be good for him to go back to somewhere familiar… work with Luca again. You don’t think it’s a-?”
“No I do! I just-,” Sydney hesitates, though she knows her business partner makes a good point. “Familiarity will be good for him. To be around people he can trust.”
“You want me to uh-,” Carmy begins to offer, figuring he’ll make the call.
“Probably best if I explain the situation. Just ‘cause, you know, I know more of what’s going on… just send me his info and I’ll call later,” Sydney interjects.
Carmy agrees with a curt nod before adding in:
“Uh… okay yeah. Yeah.”
*
You get plenty of time to prepare for Marcus’ visit, performing all kinds of fancy footwork to arrange a proper visit – a week’s worth of time spent staging and living in Copenhagen. When Luca finds out that the prolific houseboat, a chef retreat of sorts that’s always been an option for lodging, is booked for the week and a half that Marcus plans on visiting, you offer up your place without hesitation.
The arrangement goes as follows: while Marcus stays at yours at no cost, you’ll stay with Luca for the duration of the time.
This is how you find yourself at the massive Ikea on Dybbølsbro on a Saturday morning with Luca, in search of a set of fresh bed linens intended for guests.
“I really should host more. And Astrid said she and Lina were planning a trip out here so… why not kill two birds with one stone?” you’d reasoned to your boyfriend, making a strong case for why you and Luca should make this little shopping trip.
“What do you think of the blue?” Luca asks you, as you run your hand over a set of the display sheets, checking for softness.
“Don’t know if the blue is what I’m going for. I was thinking of something warmer. Maybe a yellow or… I don’t know. I’ve kind of been into that trendy rust color as of late,” you reply with a shrug, moving onto the warmer colors.
Luca chuckles and with a small shake of his head, he clarifies his previous questions with:
“No, I meant for me.”
“What do you mean?” you ask him curiously, his comment pulling all of your focus as you search his face for answers. “You just got new bedding.”
And expensive ones too.
But as your eyes follow his gaze, you realize that he’s not talking about sheets, focused on the XL Twin-sized duvets just above where the sheets messily fall along the shelf.
“I was thinking…” Luca trails off, checking in with you before he continues, with “... maybe it’s time I get two duvets… you know… for us.” He takes a beat, and a step towards you, and you know you’ll never stand a chance against his boyish charm as one side of his mouth turns up into a smile.
You’re no stranger to the Scandinavian duvet method – two twin duvets for one king sized bed – but it sounds like Luca’s suggestion is about way more than buying an extra duvet on this trip.
“I want you to feel at home… at my place."
“I do,” you reply, almost instantly, a warmth spreading through your belly as you take a step towards him.
“But I mean really… feel like it’s your home. Because it is. It could be. You know… if you want it to be,” Luca continues, this time with more insistence, a look of hopefulness in his deep blue eyes.
“Are you… are you asking me to move in with you?” you manage to get out, your heart skipping a beat.
“Why not? We could use this week to try it out,” he suggests so casually that you practically have to do a double take. “See how it goes while Marcus stays at your place?”
“Yeah I-... that sounds like a good plan, yeah,” you stammer out, the grin on your face undeniable as you nod enthusiastically in the middle of a goddamn furniture store.
“Besides,” Luca says, clearing his throat as his tone changes to one that’s much more playful. “You’re an absolute blanket hog and a repeat offender at that.” Luca winks your way as you roll your eyes with a laugh in response. “This could prevent some of our silly little quarrels, don’t you think, love?”
“Uh huh,” you sound, your face skeptical as you look his way again. “Preventative measures. Sure, babe.”
Luca chuckles before leaning down to press a chaste kiss to your lips, right then and there, in the Ikea bed linen section, the place you’ll now forever think of as the place your boyfriend asked you to move in with him.
Connection
When Marcus arrives in Copenhagen, you’ve arranged your home with the most comfort in mind, having already packed a week’s worth of things and left for Luca’s. You can only imagine what he must be going through, deciding that something like that – losing your mother – though inevitable, is your goddamn worst nightmare.
“Marcus,
Enjoy your stay and please reach out if you need anything. I can’t wait to meet you!”
…is the note that you leave him, along with a few morning pastries you picked up from your favorite baggeri across the street, and your number scribbled down at the bottom of the notepad.
As Marcus arrives, his eyes drawn immediately to your note and gift, Marcus smiles to himself, noticing that you left a very nice looking bottle of wine on the counter as well. He’s moved by your generosity, considering you’ve never met, and the fact that you’re willing to take so much care, extend this much kindness to a stranger, causes a wave of softness to wash over him.
Maybe, just maybe, he can find softness again – the last few months riddled with pain, grief, and numbness to get through the days.
While he came here to work, encouraged by his friends that a change of scenery may do his broken heart some good, it’s the first time Marcus has had a chance to be still. His feelings of grief sit heavier here and it catches him off guard, uncertain that he’s quite ready to sit with them yet. He pushes aside the thought, focusing on exploring your home and unpacking his bags. Marcus knows how to stay busy – he’s become an expert at it by now – reminding himself that he’s got work at 5 am sharp tomorrow.
*
“A little too much, chef. Take it down by about 15 grams,” Luca directs, his voice even and sure as he inspects the balls of dough that Marcus currently shapes.
“Yes, chef,” Marcus nods in understanding, plopping the ball of dough back on the scale to adjust the measurement.
The two of them work like this for the rest of the morning, Luca treading carefully while keeping things professional, while Marcus buries himself in the work – something that feels good, safe, right.
He’s missed this. While Marcus has one chef he works with directly at the restaurant, he’s the expert – the head patissier. He misses being surrounded by excellence, getting to be a student of someone who is just as driven, if not more, and inspired. It’s good, quiet, calm, yet there’s a focus and intensity in Luca’s kitchen that feels like a breath of fresh air.
His stage trip to New York has been more of a mess than beneficial. Maybe it had been the chaos of the city, or the chaos of the chefs he was working with. Maybe it was the fact that Marcus, though hungry for a distraction, hadn’t quite been ready to walk directly into the line of fire yet.
As Marcus’ practiced hands move with the dough, there’s a newfound confidence in the way that he works that's not lost on Luca. Luca watches his friend carefully, pride swelling in his chest as his mentee makes the adjustment with ease and diligence.
“Can I join you?” Luca asks, gesturing towards Marcus' workstation.
“‘Course, chef,” Marcus replies, his response short yet reverent.
As Luca joins him, finding a space to the right of Marcus, he busies his hands with rolling each perfectly measured ball of dough into mini boules, ready to proof. The two of them work quietly, side by side, the air between them heavy with words unsaid. He can feel it – the weight that lays so heavily on Marcus' heart – but Luca doesn’t want to bring it up, uninterested in forcing the conversation. Especially about something so painful, something he knows that Marcus has barely begun working through.
“Thanks, again. For uh… you know… letting me come work,” Marcus begins, momentarily checking in with Luca to gauge a reaction.
“‘Course,” Luca replies, his answer instantaneous. “You’re welcome here any time, mate.”
“Yeah?” Marcus asks, stealing a glance in Luca’s direction.
“Yeah,” Luca responds with a certain nod.
“And uh… shit. I can’t thank your girlfriend enough for letting me crash at her place,” Marcus adds, as he works through his discomfort and overwhelm from the wave of feelings that begin to bubble up in his chest.
“You can thank her yourself on Saturday,” Luca brings up, excited over the fact that Marcus will not only be meeting his girlfriend, but staging at her restaurant too. “She’s really looking forward to meeting you.”
Marcus nods slowly, his hands the only steady thing about him as he continues to focus on his work.
“I just mean-, well, she didn’t have to-. ‘S not like either of you owed it to me or anything and I-. You guys just really came through…” Marcus trails off, wanting to make his gratitude clear. It means more to him that he can articulate so instead he settles for, “So thank you. Again.”
Luca shrugs with an aplomb about him as he returns with, “We got you, mate.” He pauses before continuing, fully aware that Marcus isn’t quite comfortable with the feelings that have presented themself in this moment. “And the way I see it, I wouldn’t have met her if it weren’t for you – for our conversation the last time you were here – so we really do owe you for it.”
This time Luca makes an effort to check in with Marcus, gauging his emotional capacity as he concludes with:
“But that’s not what any of this is about: debts, who owes who what. We were both more than happy to host you. That’s what mates are for.”
It’s not till the end of the next shift that it hits him, and Marcus finds himself sitting outside of the restaurant on a bench across the street. He’s not sure whether it’s the jet lag or the exhaustion of the 5 am start time in another time zone, but it hits him all at once, like a ton of bricks. Suddenly consumed with the feelings that he’s been trying his best to avoid, all he can do is pause, completely caught off guard by the strength of them.
Quietly, Luca joins him, having spotted him on his way home, rerouting himself in Marcus’ direction instead.
All he can think of are the words you’ve asked him, and he you, time and time again – the ones that cut right to the core of you each and every time – that show you how much he cares.
“How’s your heart?” Luca asks Marcus, after a few minutes of sitting on the bench together in silence.
And how is his heart?
He’s not sure how to answer, considering it’s been a while since he’s really had a chance to check in, the crippling reality of this great loss is too much to bear alone.
His heart is broken, shattered into an infinite amount of pieces.
He, and his heart will never be the same again and he doesn’t know where or how he’ll ever put it back together.
His heart is… lost, in desperate need of finding a soft place to land.
Marcus takes a while to answer, racking his brain for any semblance of a cohesive answer.
He waits. And then he waits.
Until finally, he can answer.
“I uh… don’t know. But I’m hoping this trip will help me figure that out.”
Creativity
“do you remember the 21st night of september? love was changin' the minds of pretenders while chasin' the clouds away.” (earth, wind, and fire.)
Everything about the way you run your kitchen feels different than what he’s used to.
It’s sure as hell different from his last stage trip to New York, Marcus thinks to himself.
With Carmy and Syd, working with them, there’s a buzz of chaos that runs underneath even the most organized and efficient service. It’s something integral to what they have, gives an edge to The Bear that seems to make it hum in all the right ways. Even with Luca, who comes from fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants, there’s a quiet and determined focus – an intensity to his work – even without the undercurrent of chaos.
But this. But you.
Your kitchen somehow teeters the line of organized chaos and reckless play so well that Marcus understands why this works – why it’s efficient.
Still, he watches as you and your staff dance – no, literally dance – around each other to the highly recognizable Earth, Wind, and Fire tune. Mathilde sings along while chopping chives for the brothy mushroom grain bowl, while, mid-phrase, manages to yell out a short command to a line cook in Danish. Out of the corner of his eye, Marcus catches Jesper working the dining room, while you finish plating two more dishes, ready to be walked out.
It’s as if you find focus in the center of all the noise, somewhere between the electric energy between you, Mathilde, and your staff, and the feel-good vibes and homeyness of the restaurant that you’ve created.
You had been more than welcoming when Marcus had walked through the doors of your restaurant, Kokuore, mere hours ago. You’d given him the tour, shown him which station he’d be working this evening, then warmly introduced him to your entire team before family meal started. Marcus can’t stop moving, too afraid to be still in fear of falling apart in the presence of how comforting you’ve been.
And this? Your kitchen. It’s all joy, connection, and artistry.
It’s not hard for him to see why Luca fell in love with you.
“Marcus, feel free to take a break,” he hears you say, as you nod towards the dining room through the open kitchen.
As Marcus follows your gesture, he notices that Luca’s arrived, remembering something about a standing Saturday date.
“You sure, chef?” Marcus asks, looking to you for approval.
“Positive,” you nod, reassuringly.
Marcus nods in return to confirm, before taking his apron off and making his way over to the dining room where Luca is exchanging a few words with Jesper.
“Wassup, chef,” he greets his mentor.
“You know, you can call me Luca,” Luca reminds him with a crooked smile. “At least when we’re off the clock.”
Marcus chuckles, “Uh… yeah alright. That’s gonna take some getting used to.”
Luca chuckles in return, before Jesper shows them to his table, mentioning something about Americans being so afraid of fluidity.
“She’s brilliant isn’t she?” Luca asks, in reference to you as his eyes catch yours from across the room.
“Nah for real. Like… mad scientist vibes,” Marcus concurs with a smile. “She can throw down for sure.” He pauses as they sit down at Luca’s table. “So you come every Saturday night, huh?”
“When I can, yeah, which is… most Saturdays,” Luca replies honestly, before beginning to list why he’s kept up this routine. “But it’s nice. Keeps me inspired. I get to see my girl, walk her home at night which makes me feel better.” Luca leans back in his chair this time, crossing his arms over his chest. “And I never mind helping close down at the end of the night.”
Marcus hums in response before one of the waitstaff comes to their table, with a glass of wine in hand, on the house. They chat for a little longer before Marcus returns to the kitchen, his excitement for what you’re doing here filling him to the brim.
As dinner service comes to an end, Marcus can’t help but notice the chemistry and how unique it is as you all work together in perfect harmony. There’s a warmth to it, something different, and he begins to understand why the name of the restaurant comes from the word, heart.
Luca is quick to get up from his table, quickly finishing his glass of wine as he offers to help close down. The music volume goes from underscoring the buzz of a busy night of service, to the main attraction, as a motown throwbacks playlist begins to blare from the speakers. You all work quickly and efficiently, eager to close down, get home, and begin your weekends, but it’s when an old Otis Redding track that Luca decides to put a pause on the progress.
“Dance with me, my love,” he says, offering his hand out to you as a huge gesture that earns a few looks and giggles from some of your staff.
“Luca,” you begin to protest, looking around.
“You can take three minutes,” he offers, exchanging a look with you this time.
You nod, taking his hand as you agree with, “Okay.”
And as Luca wraps you up in his arms, engaging you in a slow dance to Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong my Love is,” you chuckle, relaxing into him.
“Oh, get a room, you two!” Jesper calls out after you, teasingly.
“She pretends – always puts up a fight – as if they don’t do this every single week,” Mathilde adds, as an explanation to Marcus.
“Every week?” Marcus asks, a little surprised by both you and Luca’s willingness to pause and revel in a moment with each other, instead of just pushing through.
“Yeah. Romantics, they are,” Jesper chimes in.
Marcus smiles to himself. It’s a reminder of slowness – something he hasn’t let himself experience in a long time – and for just a moment, he lets himself settle into the feeling.
*
You don’t even mind that you woke up an hour before your alarm the moment you feel Luca’s arms wrapped around you, and his lips against your soft skin. The low rumble of his voice resonates across your shoulders, sending chills down your spine as you arch into his hands, his arms wrapped around you.
“I know we’re only a few days in… of our little trial,” Luca begins, the bass of his voice reverberating through your shoulder blade.
“Our living together trial?” you clarify with your ask, letting out a gasp as he nibbles on your shoulder gently.
“Yeah. Just wonderin’ where your mind’s at,” Luca murmurs, his eager hands beginning to explore underneath the oversized shirt you put on before bed last night.
“Well… I really like this,” you reply, the sound that comes out of your mouth somewhere between a giggle and a moan.
“Hmmmm?” Luca sounds, innocently.
“This… Waking up to you thing.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mhm.”
Luca’s name escapes your lips as his fingers gently begin to play with your nipples, his erection hard against your back as you begin to grind your hips back against.
“And the access to round the clock sex is really a bonus,” you sigh, blissfully.
“Oh yeah?” he asks you again, a large tatted hand slipping between your legs.
“Yeah… I’d even be… interested in leaning into that part… right now,” you hiss in reply to his touch. “Considering you’re distracting me with sex.”
“Hmmmmm. ‘S not just it, love. Have I told you how grateful I am for what you’ve done for Marcus?” Luca asks, his mouth back on your neck. He presses your body against him, your back to his chest as he rocks his hips against yours.
“Luca!” you protest, unable to focus on the conversation.
“It’s your kindness. Your heart… I’m in awe of it,” he continues to praise you as the two of you begin to set a rhythm between your bodies.
It’s all heat, and soft sighs of pleasure, and foreplay.
“Well, I know a little something about what he’s going through,” you answer breathlessly. You begin to impatiently push the hem of your shirt higher so that you can give Luca more access to your body.
“That’s why I love you,” Luca murmurs into your skin, his hands all over you, his focus unbroken and your mind beginning to go blank. His hands are tearing your shirt over your head as he continues to praise you. “Your heart, the way you share it.”
“You helped me get there, baby,” you gasp, turning your head so that you can kiss your boyfriend.
Instead of answering, Luca nods knowingly, before crashing his lips into yours. His mouth on yours feels like heaven, and you can’t believe that you ever fought your feelings for him.
“Ah fuck it. Let’s do it. Let’s move in together,” you surrender to him, lost in the moment.
“Yeah?” Luca pauses, pulling away, as if almost can’t believe what he’s hearing.
“Yeah. I mean it, baby,” you nod, catching his gaze, certain in the way you answer. “I wanna wake up to you every morning.”
“Me too, my love,” Luca grins, before pressing his lips to yours again. “Now will you please let me fuck you, darling?”
“Fuck yes.”
Luca spends the next hour showing you just how grateful he is for you, while you in return, spend the next hour showing him just how sure you are about this decision.
And you are sure. If mornings like this are a constant for the rest of your life, you think you’ll die a happy woman.
You’ve found a home in him, and he, you. He’s the person you want to come home to at the end of the day. He’s the man that puts a smile on your face every single time he gets on his soapbox about how Beyonce is the performer of your lifetimes, and he is unequivocally the best, most unexpected thing in your life.
Luca Davies, in almost a year of knowing him, and eight months of getting to love him, has somehow become your favorite person.
By the time you and Luca are both showered and decent-for-company, you’ve begun your mise en place for brunch, completely content with the fact that you’re running a little behind schedule (and in all fairness, the sex was worth it – it’s always worth it). The smell of bacon sizzling away on your carbon steel fry pan fills the entire apartment, and you’re glad that Luca opened a window earlier. It’s not exactly window weather yet, but the air ventilation is a must when it comes to smoked meats.
While you play catch up with your brunch plan, Luca’s busy welcoming Marcus in, pouring him a cup of coffee using the extensive ten-step pour over he’s been fixated on ever since he purchased it, while they chat here and there about what else he’s explored in Denmark.
“Been too busy working, to be honest but… I don’t know. I might wander around today… see what kind of stuff I can get into,” Marcus answers frankly with a shrug.
“Ah, mate. We just had a walk at the Frederiksberg Gardens. Definitely something I’d recommend checking out,” Luca suggests, his eyes lighting up with excitement as he mentions it.
Luca continues moving through his list of recommendations, Marcus chiming in with places and things he did the last time he was here, excited to spend a few days exploring the city instead of just working.
“Wanderin’ around. I dunno. There’s something about it. ‘S good for the spirit, you know?” Luca concludes.
“Yeah,” Marcus nods in agreement, before turning his attention over to the French toast you’re working on. “Okay, I see you. What is that? Mascarpone?”
“Yeah, good eye. It’s just something new I’m working on: a mascarpone stuffed french toast. We’re actually talking about extending our hours… maybe doing weekend brunch,” you answer thoroughly, as you dip the stuffed pieces of bread into their egg batter, pre-cook.
“For real? That’s sick,” Marcus compliments, watching you carefully. “I mean… shit. You could have a whole brunch spot.”
“What do you mean?” you ask, looking up from your cutting board.
“A Brunch spot,” Marcus repeats, simply, the excitement in his eyes at the new idea, evident. “Yeah, you know. Luca could do the morning pastries. You work your magic on the rest of the menu.”
“That’s a novel idea! What do you think, my love?” Luca asks, intrigue in his voice as he searches your face for a reaction.
“I-,” you begin, looking from Luca to Marcus, then back to Luca again. “I… never thought about it like that.” You take a beat, eyeing Luca carefully. “We’ve never talked about going into business together.”
Marcus shrugs, before picking up his coffee mug, “Yo, it’s just a thought. I think you two would be unstoppable together.”
“Unstoppable, eh?” Luca asks, his eyes locked with yours.
You only hum in response, raising a quirked eyebrow in Luca’s direction before adding:
“It’s certainly one hell of an idea, Marcus.”
Kokuore
Monday afternoon, you find yourself at your restaurant with Marcus Brooks, on a day off.
“I might need a little extra help with something tomorrow. We’re closed tomorrow, but I want to get ahead on this special I’m working on. Could use the help of a pastry chef. What do you say?” you’d proposed to him, over one more espresso before he left.
To Luca’s dismay, (“ you silly Americans just can’t enjoy a day of doing nothing,” he’d teased the two of you) Marcus had given you an unwavering yes, reassuring you that he was down to learn everything he possibly could from you, especially while he was here.
And it’s true. You do need the help. But should he want someone to talk to – someone who gets it, even just a little bit – you want to offer him the space and the opportunity to do so.
“As a patissier, do you get tasked with pasta? At The Bear?” you ask Marcus, as you pleat a dumpling in hand with a speed that only comes with practice.
“Nah,” Marcus sounds, his focus on the dumpling he’s pleating too. His concentration on getting the pleats right is reverent and unbroken, even as he answers your question. “Our head chef, Carmy, he uh… he comes from an Italian American family so when we’ve done a stuffed pasta… he usually takes the lead on that.”
You nod in understanding, placing the dumpling you’ve just finished down on the full-sized sheet pan. The two of you sit across from each other, having pushed a few dining tables together as a makeshift workstation.
“Think Luca’ll take over this kinda stuff when you guys open a restaurant together?” Marcus asks, lightheartedly pushing his agenda from yesterday.
You laugh in response, your hands working quickly on yet another dumpling.
“For someone with no skin in the game, you’re really insistent on this idea,” you tease him in return.
“Don’t tell me you’ve never thought about it,” Marcus pushes right back, his tone still light.
“I…” you sigh, trailing off as you pause your work for a moment. “You know, we just said we’d move in together. That and a restaurant? Feels fast.”
“Oh shit.”
“Yeah.”
“Like… a few hours before you came over for brunch,” you elaborate, earning a whistle from Marcus. The two of you exchange a look, and a laugh, as you pick up another dumpling wrapper that you and Marcus rolled out together earlier.
“It’s a good idea though,” you add, stealing a glance his way so that he knows that you’re serious.
“Well, when you two inevitably do open a restaurant… I want ten percent,” Marcus jokes, earning another laugh from you.
“Deal,” you agree with him.
You and Marcus work like this, exchanging a few words, the conversation light, underscored by a softer acoustic soundtrack from one of your Spotify radio stations.
“So how’d you learn to cook like this?” Marcus asks you curiously.
“Uh…” you hesitate, treading carefully as you realize this conversation could open a can of worms.
“I don’t know how much Luca’s told you about me… but I was married… before him,” you begin, cautiously. “And… well, I learned a lot of this… a lot of traditional Japanese cooking from my mother-in-law.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. These are her dumplings actually – her recipe. She passed away last Fall and… well, it was important to me to celebrate her – to celebrate her life – by creating a few dishes for her,” you continue, and it’s as if all of the air has been sucked out of the room. “We’re bringing this one back as a special this month but um… yeah. I’m… still very much grieving and… it helps me remember her. Cooking her food helps me feel close to her, you know?”
“Yeah,” Marcus sighs, his heart heavy as he exhales.
He waits a beat.
And then another, having paused his work as he watches you pleat, head down, with expert hands.
The silence between you and Marcus is full, heavy, connected by shared experience. You wait for Marcus to say something, and when he doesn’t, you decide to continue.
“This restaurant… has so much of my heart in it: it’s got my love for Italian food from growing up in my best friend’s family’s restaurant, and it’s got my love for her – for Aiko – and everything she taught me,” you begin to explain. “And lately… it’s got a fresh perspective… inspired by the love I have with Luca, I think. Well, I know. Inspired by him… how this place brought us together.”
“The name itself is… totally made up, but means a lot to me. The Japanese word for heart is, kokoro, and the Italian word for heart is, cuore. Somehow an homage to my past… and was… Prophetic in so many ways too.”
As Marcus listens, Luca’s previous question lingers in his head:
How’s your heart?
At the time he didn’t know how to answer, and after five days in Copenhagen – after five days of doing what he loves in a place that he loves – his heart is somehow so full, yet so broken all at once. He’s filled with deep sorrow and with the spark of creativity all at the same time, and he’s just not sure how to hold all of this feeling inside of him.
Marcus waits a beat, opens his mouth, then lets the words fall out.
“It’s evident. In your food,” is all he manages to say. “It’s got soul. It’s got heart. I-, it’s inspiring. That’s for sure.”
“I made a dish. For Michael,” Marcus adds, his eyes on the dumpling he works on, but the guard on his heart beginning to fall away. “He was uh… well, he was the old owner of the restaurant, called The Beef back then. Carmy took over after he died. Felt right to honor him and his life, you know? When we reopened as The Bear.”
“Food is… it’s our art, you know?” you agree. “Sometimes it’s the only way I know how to express myself and… sometimes it’s just the thing that makes sense.”
“Yeah.”
A beat.
“Maybe one day I can make one for my mom,” Marcus says, his voice stuck in his throat as he admits, “I don’t know if I’m ready yet. But I think… I think I’d like to eventually.”
“Of course,” you reassure him gently. “You don’t have to be ready now. You don’t have to be ready ever. But when you are, your art will always be there.”
“Thanks,” Marcus nods solemnly.
You get up this time, realizing the sheet pan is full, and ready to be placed on the baker’s rack. As you return to the table with a new empty sheet pan, lined with parchment paper, Marcus finally asks you, his eyes soft, the heartbreak in them present.
“How’d you get through? You know. Losing her? Your mother-in-law?”
You return to your chair with a heavy sigh.
“I’ll let you know when I do,” you answer, letting up a soft chuckle. “It helps to have good people and… from what Luca’s told me, you do. But… I had to let ‘em in, let ‘em help me. Let ‘em love me. And in all honesty, most days I’m still just… taking it day by day.”
“Yeah, I-. I do. I got some really good people. Back home,” Marcus drags out slowly.
“Then that’s all that matters. Your people and your heart. The rest… you just-,” you start.
“Take day by day?” Marcus interjects, pausing to catch your eyes.
You and Marcus exchange a knowing look, the recognition of each others’ pain is met with empathy.
“Yeah. I think that's all we can do.”
By the end of your work session with Marcus, you’re ready to head home so that you can spend the rest of the day with Luca.
“What’re you gonna do with the rest of your day?” you ask Marcus, curiously.
With a sigh, and then a shrug, and a heart that feels just a little lighter, he answers with:
“Think I might wander around a bit. Someone once told me it’s good for the spirit.”

the past two weeks had been agonizing. i wasn't allowed to hang out with nate for a month. yet here he was, sitting in the living room after school playing play station with the boys.
i rubbed my hands over my face, sighing as i walked down the stairs towards the kitchen. "hey erika," nate greeted, causing me to smile. "hey nate," i say, getting a juice from the fridge.
"where's mom?" i ask.
"garage maybe?" nick said, looking away from his phone for a split second to look at me. "thanks," i say, shooting him air guns.
"mom!" i call, walking towards the garage. "mooooom!"
"what erika?" my mom says, poking her head out from behind the garage door.
"can kayla come over?" i ask, looking at her with pleading eyes. she sighs and shrugs her shoulders. "yes! thank you!" i exclaim, smiling widely. "thank you thank you!"
i run over and kiss her cheek, making her laugh. "open doors," marylou states with pointed fingers, "open doors." i roll my eyes and smile at her, nodding.
i pull my phone out of my pocket and dial kayla's number. "hello?"
"my mom said you can come over," i say excitedly. "be there in five," the girl on the other side giggles.
"she's gonna be here in five!" i yell, walking up the stairs. i get no response from any of the guys, and sigh, knowing they can't hear me over their own voices.
i go into my room and change into a new shirt, tossing my previous one into the hamper. i sit at my desk and wait for kayla, "i'm here!" a voice exclaims, making me turn to the doorway.
"she's here," i repeat, giving her a hug. "what first? gossip about sydney?" she asks, i roll my eyes at the mention of one of the girls we hated the most. the only true reason being she was rude as hell.
"no," i say, sitting back down, "how are things going with you and jay?" she groans and plops onto my bed, her eyes closed.
"not well," she groans. i give her a questioning look and she sits up. "i'm pretty sure he has a thing for someone else," she huffs, her hands moving wildly around her face.
"no," i deadpan, "what? no way. i thought he really liked you?"
"that's what i thought," she sighs, looking up.
"i'm so sorry kay," i whisper, hugging her again.
"it's fine," she laughs, her mood changing. "so, let's talk about you," she smirks. "not much there," i say, not mentioning anything about nate.
"sure," she chuckles. "oh, did you hear about the party at liz's house?" she asks, her eyes wide with excitement.
"liz? party? you've got to be kidding," i scoff, laughing a bit. "my mom would never let me go, especially not right after i just got busted for smoking and drinking," i tell her.
"that's why sneaking out is a fun thing to do," she says and i shake my head. "did it once, do it twice it becomes a habit," i state.
"oh come on," she whines.
"kay, if i get caught, i'm done," i stress. "fine," she pouts, crossing her arms over her chest.
"you can go," i say, her eyes lighting up, "but i can't, kay." she smiles and hugs me. "thanks eri," she says, standing up. "i'll see you at school," she says, walking out of the door.
"bye!"
a few days later, it was the weekend, and i was bored. the boys were on a trip to california and kayla was sick. i sighed as i watched the tv hung on my wall, changing the show every so often.
knocks sounded from my door, causing me to turn my head. "it open," i call. the door opens, showing my mom's face as she peaks her head in.
"i'm going shopping, need anything?" she asks, i shake my head and she shuts the door. a few moments later i hear her car leaving and the sound of the garage shutting.
i walk downstairs and check the time on my phone. 10:49 in big white letters, i groan, tugging at my brown roots.
"i should dye my hair," i say to myself, pulling my phone back out to google ideas.
after 30 minutes, i had a few good ones, i instacarted black and red hair dye to the house, as well as hair bleach and began the process.
i grabbed bowels, going to the bathroom where i set out old and stained towels.
i took a deep breath, looking at myself in the mirror. "don't fuck up," i mumble to myself. i wet my hair, then began adding the bleach after mixing the toner and developer together.
as i applied the bleach, i foiled the strands. when i finished i set a timer for thirty minutes as i waited for the bleach to do its job.
after the timer went off, i rinsed my hair, the water running a gross, pale-yellow color down the drain. i washed my hair with purple shampoo to tone it, drying my hair some with a towel before parting it down the middle of my head.
i opened the red dye first, squeezing the contents of the tube out. i sectioned the hair on the left side and began adding the dye.
i repeated the steps until the whole left side of my head was covered in the red dye.
i repeated the steps with the black, waiting an hour for it to develop on my head before i rinse.
after i rinsed, i wrapped a towel around my head, blow-drying my hair and brushing through it. when i pulled the towel off, i smiled, running my fingers through the soft, now black and red strands.
i took a snap sending it the kayla, with the text 'thoughts??'.
'omg!'
'you look hot!'
'so much better than that boring brown'
i smiled at her texts, feeling a little more confident with my appearance. i put stuff away, throwing the empty tubes of dye in the trash and washing the bowels that held the contents.
i ran upstairs, grabbing my phone and flopping on my bed. i scrolled through tiktok, stopping to watch videos every now and then.
as i was about to fall asleep, my phone rang, making me jump. my mom's name popping up on my phone, the options accept or decline flashing.
"yeah?" i say, answering the phone. "be there in five, i need help carrying in groceries," she says. "ok," i reply, getting off of the bed as the phone goes dead.
i slip on some shoes and walk outside, the cold breeze blowing against my warm skin. i see my mom's car pulling up, before it pulls into the driveway. "you changed your hair," she states, getting out.
the trunk pops open, revealing the back loaded with grocery bags. "i was bored, do you like it?" you ask. she runs her fingers through it, squinting slightly due to the sun.
"looks good on you sweetheart," she says, smiling.
we make multiple trips, bringing in bags as fast as we can. "how was shopping?" i ask, helping her put the stuff away. "fine," she breathes, putting canned foods on a shelf.
"you have work later?" she asks, and i nod my head, "six o'clock sharp." she nods her head, "when's dad getting off work?" i ask, "four," she replies, checking the time.
"what's for dinner?" i ask, closing the fridge and grabbing my phone. "probably spaghetti," she says, "can you help set the table when it's time?"
i nod my head, "yep," i say and then go back upstairs.

Note
how would LIs react when PC show off their customized LIs hand-written buttplug that rest inside their ass
Like "Property Of Whitney" "Whitney's Slut" ect.
I-I have so many questions....PC had to get this from the sex shop, right? Like pc doesn't have access to the internet to buy a custom one. This means either Sirris ordered a custom one for you, engraved it himself, or you engraved it.
Whitney gets a good laugh out of it and calls you a good slut or something
Kylar is both flustered and excited
Robin is flustered
P!Sydney gasps and gets red in the face
C!Sydney smirks and probably chuckles
Alex is confused for a split second then laughs, he loves it
Avery smirks and calls you a good girl/boy, making sure to tug on it a bit
Eden gets a small smirk and tugs on it a bit

Okay, Briar's an asshole but. BUT. Imagine.
(Written with male reader in mind but its quite ambiguous.)
Just another night at the brothel, dancing and showing off skin just to meet Bailey's weekly quota. It's uncomfortable, and the fear that some people you know at school would see you here, flaunting your body so shamelessly— yet hiding away under the uniform and maintaining a grade A student facade just to avoid Leighton's punishments. What would they think? What would Sydney, ever kind and pure, think of you when he sees you on stage? Or Whitney? No doubt using this to harass you even more. What about your teachers? God. The swarm of thoughts in your head just made your heart palpitate even more. Forgetting the one thing you always chanted in your mind whilst you danced on stage: "Always be aware." Because this is Hex Street, and theres nothing good lurking in the shadows.
The Brothels clients are similar to animals as well, you've had your fair share of men clamoring to grab and yank you from the stage mid-dance. And that was your mistake. Briar always told you not to think too much when you're on there. Because what happens? You lose focus. And that's dangerous. But before it could even register in your muscles to stop, and pay attention, two hands grasp at your waist— harsh, tugging, dragging your much smaller body away from the audience and into the secluded back rooms intended for the staff. Only halfway through did you realise who it was.
"Briar?" Your voice, small and meek, echoes in the hallways. But he doesn't respond, no matter how your voice begs him to give you an answer. You're left speechless when he throws the door to his office open, seemingly angered. Even more so when you're dropped on the couch he lazes on everyday. Your eyes trail up his figure, panting and heaving. Hair a mess— clinging to his face. Fists clenched. He looked like he had a fist fight.
A bitter gratefulness echoes in your soul, had he saved you? From the greedy hands that took, the touches that lingered even if you denied, the eyes that looked over you as if you were some meat in the butcher shop. At first, you're thankful. Had that been the scenario. But this is Briar, and him playing hero has a cost. A batch of saliva you forcefully lodged down your throat, not enjoying the heavy silence. "Oh darling," he cooes. Attempting to reassure you, but it sounds like hes trying to soothe himself. "I simply wanted to preserve the merchandise." Briar exclaims, fox-like grin gracing his face. Mischevious. Secretive. Manipulating.
Merchandise. Yeah. That's what you were. What else did you do? Selling your body to randos on the street for some quick cash, indulging in Avery's dates every now and then. You remember when you wanted to avoid such work a long time ago, deeming it unsavory. But look at you now. It's become second nature for you to skip Mason's swimming classes and head to the lower basement. Knees conditioned to the rough pavement. At some point, you had half the mind to bring a pillow.
Such "gentleness" was rare in this town. So you allowed him to tend to you, not like you could stop Briar if you could. He'd just throw you out to the pack of hungry wolves waiting outside. Salivating to pounce on their prey. Moments of silence. Rare peace. You let him wipe off your makeup, tidy your hair, even throwing you a new shirt (as yours was torn, like always). He'll let you believe you were safe for now.
But he'll never let you know the truth. Briar only saved you for himself. Who would defy him? It was only right he got a taste of you anyway.

You gently smacked Randy's hand from grabbing one of your baby carrots. He groaned, "Randy get your own damn food." You fussed.
"But your food tastes better" he complained. You reached down into your bag pulling out a pack of trail mix. Randy excitedly spread his legs open for you to sit in-between them. You sat down between his legs, "Here." You handed him the bag.
"Thank you" he smiled kissing your cheek. You began to eat your sandwich before Stu climbing on the fountain.
"Hey you two love birds!" He smiled playfully ruffling Randy's hair. Randy swatted Stu away from him. Tatum rolled her eyes at Stu sitting beside him. Sydney and Billy stayed silent. You waved at Sydney as you chewed your sandwich. She waved back with a small smile, Billy also gave you a small wave. Randy wrapped his arms around your waist. He got jealous around Billy a lot, though you assured him you only wanted him. You looked to the side and kissed his cheek.
"Y/N? Did you get interviewed yet?" Tatum asked popping a chip in her mouth.
"Yeah, They asked me where I was and what I was doing. Then they asked me if my dad ever took me hunting. I guess since he owns the hunting tackle shop." You shrugged.
"They didn't ask me if I hunted." Randy added. Stu laughed, "That's cause hunting is a real man's job.". You gently rub Randy's hand, "Where were you last night, Y/N?" Billy asked. You looked up at him, "I got home from work at 8pm. Then Randy came over to watch a movie. I have an alibi, Loomis.".
Billy sat up narrowing his eyes at you.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Just weird you question me." You leaned back into Randy. Billy kept staring at you, "Well Stu was with me last night." Tatum interrupted. Billy finally looked away from you, Randy gently placed his head on your shoulder.
"I don't understand how someone could do that to her.." Sydney whispered.
"Ya gut her!" Stu said laughing a bit. Tatum elbowed Stu, "I mean there's no way a girl could've done it.".
"Whoa! Have you seen Carrie?!" Randy blurted. Billy rolled his eyes, "Feminine rage is scary." Randy added. Tatum nodded, "Randy's right.".
"Don't you go hunting, Stu?" You asked.
"Whoa! I'm not the killer!" Stu shot his hands up. Billy threw a pretzel at him, "No one said you were.". Randy gently whispered in your ear, "Updating my suspect list.". You softly laughed, "Randy where were you before your little movie night?" Tatum asked.
"I was at work." He said confidently.
"Didn't they fire you?"
"Twice." He smiled before kissing your neck. The first time it was because he kept judging customers rentals. The second time from you two making out in the back. You leaned your head back against Randy's shoulder.
"You alright?" He whispered moving his hands to your sides gently rubbing them.
"Yeah, just bummed out there's a killer on the loose senior year." You huffed. Randy kissed your neck, Stu made a fake puking noise.
"God, it's insane you two didn't have sex yet!" Stu laughed. You rolled your eyes, "God forbid someone respects my boundaries!".
"Whoa is that a dis at Billy?!" It went uncomfortably silent. You and Billy briefly dated in the past, at first it seemed normal. Then he got weird, he'd play the prank of scaring you often. It went too far where he pinned you with a knife. That night you ran to Randy crying, terrified. You called Billy breaking up with him shortly dating Randy after.
"No, Stu. Not everything I do is a diss at Billy. He's happy with Sydney and I'm happy with Randy." You blandly stated. Billy coldly stared at you, you had a feeling he still was mad about it.
"I heard they found her liver in the mail box." Stu changed the subject. Sydney got up walking into the school. Billy got up, "Really man?" He complained.
"Leave her alone, Stu!" Tatum fussed.
"Liver alone!!" Stu laughed, Tatum smacked his arm. You rolled your eyes grabbing your bag leaving. Randy quickly followed you, "Wait up!" Randy called.
"God, They're so annoying!" You complained. You attempted to open your locker messing up hitting the door.
"Whoa, calm down." He said. He opened the locker for you, you put some of your books from your bag into the locker.
"Sorry. I just hate when-"
"Stu brings up Billy?" Randy asked grabbing your hand.
"Yeah. It's annoying because I'm obviously over it. And I'm happy with you." You say looking up at him. Randy gently kissed you, "I know, I do think Billy's a suspect.".
"Maybe, we'll only find out with time.".

Celebrate.
You and Ritchie had been a couple for a while, you had always been the bridge between him and Carm and now you and the Berzatto’s are opening The Bear. Characters – Reader x Ritchie, Carmen, Sydney. Word Count – 1k.
‘God Damon Richie, you’ve been keeping this from us?’ You said when you were greeted by Richie in the black suit, the black on black looked good on him. He smiled widely when he saw your eyes run up and down him. ‘You tryna flirt with me?’ Richie quizzed, he wrapped his arm around you and pulled you closer. ‘No baby, if I was I would say I’d look forward to seeing it on my bedroom floor.’ You said, he smiled down at you before he placed a peck on your lips. ‘Might let you take it off me later. He commented lowly, you arched an eyebrow. ‘Really?’ You quizzed. ‘Mmm.’ He hummed. ‘Let’s just get through this, huh?’ You said, you patted his back and separated.     ‘Yeah.’ He sighed, you knew his nerves were bouncing around under his calm exterior. ‘Oh, come on love birds.’ Sydney said, you smiled at Richie as you noticed him stand taller. ‘What about it Syd?’ You challenged her as you turned, the lovesick smile on your face made you less threatening. ‘We’ve got prep to do.’ She said, you sighed but knew she was right. ‘Alright,’ you turned to Richie, ‘I’ll see you on the flip side.’ You said, he nodded and leaned into the kiss you pressed on his cheek, just missing his lips. ‘Carm in yet?’ You asked, the new chefs were listening to Tina. ‘No -,’ he pushed the door open, ‘he’s here.’ She said, Richie walked past him and into the front as you managed to spare him on last smile. ‘You’re late.’ You commented. ‘By thirty seconds.’ He looked at the clock that you were sure ticked louder when everyone was in a rush. ‘Still late.’ You told him, he shook his head. ‘God you’re becoming Richie.’ Carm commented, you scoffed and moved to allow him into the lockers. ‘No sweetie, you know I’ve been like this forever.’ You said, he chucked his rucksack into the locker and nodded. ‘Yeah, it’s such a shame.’ He replied, you stuck your tongue out at him. ‘Move it jackass.’ You pushed his shoulder, he stumbled slightly but listened to you. ‘Marry me.’ Richie said, you pulled back from him with wide eyes, his warm hands found their way to you neck. His thumb brushed over your jawline and he gazed down at you. ‘What?’ You questioned, unsure if you heard him correctly. ‘Marry me.’ He repeated, ‘I mean I don’t have a ring or anything but I can take you shopping tomorrow and put one on it.’ Richie continued, he was starting to ramble. ‘Yes.’ You said, he opened his mouth to continue before he froze. ‘What?’ He asked this time, you lifted a hand and cupped his face, the stubble tickled the palm of your hand. ‘I’ll marry you, baby.’ You told him, a wide smile took over his face. ‘Yeah?’ ‘Yeah.’ You agreed, he surged forward and captured your lips. His fingers found their way to the hair at the base of your neck and pulled you closer, your hand wrapped around his back, the pair of you tried to get closer which was impossible. Richie broke the kiss, he gasped for air before he leaned forward and pecked your lips a couple of times, you slowly opened your eyes and you smiled at him. ‘First thing tomorrow, you and me at the jewellers.’ He said, his nose brushed against yours, you were sure you had both gone crossed eyes but you didn’t care. ‘First thing?’ You reacted, he nodded, ‘Cause I was hoping that maybe this could stay on the floor longer. Y’know so we can celebrate.’ You played with the lapels of his suit jacket, he let out a low groan. ‘Fine, first thing on Monday.’ He amended his statement.

it's currently 4 am and I have yet to actually do my work but this idea has been haunting me ever since I posted it and i need to get it out before it eats me alive AND SO I DECIDED TO WRITE ABOUT IT! (it's not good or anything, this is a first for me to write in 2nd person and i wanted to try out using the games wordings as a base so udjdjdjdjjxjsj)
Tumblr media
Wearing Your Promise Ring While Shopping
Pure!Sydney X GN PC (i wrote this with my pc Rini in mind but decided to make it vague like how pc would be described in game)
Tumblr media
You are on the top level of the shopping center. Crowds of people leisurely strolling around in and out of stores to avoid the heat outside.
You're browsing through the displayed swimwear while waiting for Sydney to finish trying out the swimwear you recommend to them.
You felt a presence besides you as you continue to browse the shelves. Taking a glance you noticed a sleazy man right next to you, seemingly looking at the swimwear you were also looking at.
(1) Ignore
You ignored the man, thinking you're just paranoid. That is until a hand is placed on your shoulder. You tensed up as the sleazy man leaned his face closer to yours.
"Say, doesn't this swimsuit look nice on ya?" The sleazy man says gesturing towards a rather lewd pair of bikini. | + Stress
(1) Stay silent
(2) Try to move away | Increase of harassment
(3) Show off your ring | Defiant
You shoved your hand towards the sleazy man, showing off the ring on it. The metal band glinting under the light. "I have a spouse if you didn't noticed." You say as you shook off his hand on your shoulder.
That wasn't exactly a lie, but calling Sydney as your spouse has you feeling giddy and warm. | - Stress | + Love
The sleazy man scoffs and squints at the ring. "Ya look too young to be married kid. And besides I could be way better." He says as he tries to get closer to you again.
"Leave before I start screaming," you say glaring at the sleazy man. "And my spouse is a hundred times better than you could ever be."
It took a second before the sleazy man roughly shoved you back, cursing under his breath as he stomped out of the shop. | + Pain
You sighed in relief, holding your hand as you look at your ring. The metal band sits on your finger, a tiny warmth emitting from it. Looking at the ring reminds you of the happiest memory you had with Sydney. | - Stress | - Trauma
You hear footsteps near you, you looked up to see Sydney walking towards you. They look happy.
"Hey! It fit perfectly beloved." They say holding the swimwear in their hand, they're by your side as you only now noticed the light blush on their face.
"I hope this time you'll let me pay for this." You ignored what they said as you take the swimwear out of their hand, walking towards the cashier as Sydney follows you, insisting on paying for it all the way.
(1) Next
The both of you are walking back to the Temple. Sydney looked like they had fun, judging by how they took your hand in theirs without you initiating it and how theirs a skip in their step as you walk back.
You're glad that you went out today. Seeing Sydney letting loose once in a while makes you feel happy. | -- Stress | - Trauma

The Quest for a Name
I hope the wait was worth it loves!
February 25, 2023.
Harry. Melbourne, Australia. 12:30 PM.
The store was rather empty, which allowed me to browse and shop peacefully; Tommy and Jeff were finishing a call while I was browsing the children’s books hoping to find some to bring back home to my girls. My girls. I smiled when I thought about three of the most important women in my life back in England waiting for me to come home.
I ended up picking three books for the girls and started making my way to where Jeff and Tommy were waiting, along the way I got distracted and picked up some finger puppets for bedtime stories when suddenly someone cleared their throat behind me, when I turned, I smiled at the girl standing there, she was using my tote bag and had a nervous smile on her face.
There was something familiar of her, but I couldn’t quite place it, she gave me a tiny wave and shakily whispered, “H-hi Harry”, I smiled, “Hello, how are you?”, she smiled, “I’m good, still recovering from last night’s concert”, and it suddenly dawned on me why I knew her.
“Oh yeah! I remember you; you were with Fauve yeah?”, her eyes were full of wonder, and she smiled while nodding her head in excitement, “Yes! That was me! Oh my God, I can’t believe you remember us!”, I smiled, “Of course I do, what’s your name love?”, she smiled, “I’m Sienna”.
I smiled, “Sienna, I love your name, might just add it to my baby’s name list”, it suddenly dawned what I had said and stood up straighter, Sienna gave me a surprised look before making a sign that her lips were sealed, “You don’t have to worry, I won’t say anything, but congratulations! That is so exciting for you and Y/N”.
I gave her an appreciative nod, “Thank you, we’re really excited to add a new member to our family, and thank you for your discretion; are you attending any other shows?”, she nodded excitedly, “I am visiting my grandma in Auckland, so I will be attending that show and Sydney night two as well, I am so excited”, I smiled, “Well then, I will look for you in the crowd”.
She nodded excitedly before reaching into her bag for a notebook and a sharpie, “Would it be okay for me to ask for an autograph and selfie? I promise I won’t post or disclose it” I nodded and placed my books and shopping to sign her notebook and pose for her selfie. While she put away her stuff, I picked up my shopping and turned to give her a smile.
“Thank you, Harry, it really means a lot, and I wish you and Y/N a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery”, I nodded and placed a hand over my heart, “Thank you Sienna, and I’ll see you in Sidney and I hope to meet you again”, she waved goodbye while making her way to the teen novels and I made my way to the cashier to pay.
February 26, 2023.
Harry. Melbourne, Australia. 9:00 PM.
The call rang for a few moments before the dial changed and my little girl appeared in the screen, she had her hair pulled back with a tiny bow and her face was full of the remnants of her breakfast; yogurt which I knew was one of her favorites right now, when she noticed me, she smiled before screaming “Dada!”, I smiled, “Good morning little love, how are you? Are you eating breakfast?”
She pulled her hands to the screen so I could see the mess she was making, I gave her a surprised look so she would know I was paying attention to her, “Look at those hands! Did you have a banana?”, my smile got bigger when I heard my baby mama outside from the screen, “Say ‘no dada, today I ate peaches!’ Can you say peaches baby?”
Pippa turned to see her mom and gave her a cheeky smile before she said “Pea!”, I smiled before cheering “There you go baby! Good job!”, a few seconds later the screen moved, and I was able to see Y/N sitting there too, I smiled when I saw her reach and caress her bump, “Hi baby, you look so beautiful!”, she smiled and looked down bashfully.
“Oh you flatterer, I feel anything but”, I gave her a sympathetic smile, “How is everything going?”, she sighed, “Nights are getting to an uncomfortable point, but the pregnancy pillow and I are dating now”, I laughed, “I hope you will want to cuddle me once I’m home”, she nodded, “I will baby, I miss you so much”
I smiled before clearing my throat, “So… I thought of another name, well actually I met a fan with this name”, she took a bite of her breakfast before speaking, “Oh really? What is it?”, I smiled, “Sienna”, she swallowed before analyzing the name I told her, “Sienna Anne Styles?”, I nodded, “Well the initials would be cool huh?”
I laughed a little and smiled while at eating her eggs, Y/N spoke up, “I also thought of another name”, I yawned and signaled for her to tell me, “Amelia, and her nickname could be Millie Anne”, I smiled, “I am liking the nickname, Pip and Millie”, she laughed, “Aww that is so sweet”, I decided to tease her.
“So… is Deborah or still off the table?”, she shook her head while she laughed, “If you love it, then we can think of using it baby”, I laughed, “Nah, she deserves a unique name, just like Pippa, and we still have a few weeks to decide, yes? Let’s not forget we decided on Pippa’s name about two days before she was born”, she laughed.
“If I remember correctly, we were set on Ophelia, you even sang the song to the belly as a way to see if the baby was a she”, I nodded before speaking, “But then I read Philippa in a novel and fell in love with it”, she took a sip of her tea while cleaning Pippa’s mouth and smiled, “I remember, when you told me her name, there was something there, like a feeling of peace, of contentment, like ‘that is her name’”
I smiled, “I felt the same way, all warm and fuzzy and excited; and truth be told, none of the names we have discussed have given me that feeling, but I know we will find the name”, she nodded while pulling Pippa out of her chair and settling her on her lap, “Say bye bye to Dada baby”, Pippa smiled before pulling the phone to her face, “Dada bye!”, I laughed, “Bye baby, I love you!”
Pippa gave the phone back to Y/N and I heard her scurry to the living room where we had settled her toys right before I left, I yawned again and Y/N gave me a smile, “You should rest baby, you still have a few crazy days to come”, I nodded, “Before I go, can I see the belly?”
She nodded and smiled setting the phone on the breakfast table before pulling back a little and pulling up her pajama shirt, my heart was beating so fast from the excitement, “Look at that beautiful belly! Oh, she’s growing up so fast!”, she laughed, “Oh yes, she is definitely, oh-wait!” She sat down and grabbed the phone again turning the camera.
After a few seconds and a couple of presses to the side of the belly I saw a knee or elbow rolling around and I smiled, “Oh I miss feeling her move so much”, she laughed, “You’ll still have about four weeks of feeling her once you’re here baby”, I nodded, “And I will have a birthday celebration to make up for”, she nodded, “Rest well baby, we love you and miss you, so so much”, I smiled, “I miss you two too baby, speak tomorrow”, she nodded while blowing a kiss to her screen while I did the same, then waved goodbye and ended the call.

Coffee Run
Sydney "Syd" Adamu x Reader
Someone requested a Syd x fem reader story a few months ago, and here it is!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Syd, it’s my turn to do the pick-up. You do it every time, and it’s not fair to you,” Natalie scolded as she watched Syd pull her coat on.
Syd waved off the concern, “Psh, don’t stress it, Natalie. I don’t mind doing it.” she was out the door before Natalie could even respond. Pick-up orders from the coffee shop down the street were the highlight of Sy’d shift these past few weeks.
The owner- Jake or James- Syd couldn’t remember his name outside the fact he was some J-named millennia man who knew little about food but a lot about business. At the beginning of the summer, he came by with a flyer advertising his coffee shop's new summer menu items. Richie joked about him being a narc but admitted the shop made a good cup of coffee.
Everyone had taken a turn doing pick-up orders, and when it was finally Syd’s turn, she met you, and the short interaction the two of you shared felt like it was going in slow motion.
You were standing by the intricate espresso machine, quickly whisking matcha. Syd noticed the colorful friendship bracelets adorning your wrists first. Then, the neon rainbow chrome nails. Your fingers were decorated with a mix of chunky acrylic rings and a few shiny gold rings. Syd swallowed softly and nervously walked up to the counter. You called out that you’d help her in a moment, but Syd didn’t know how to respond.
As you turned to look at Syd, she immediately noticed your expertly drawn winged eyeliner and the little bat septum ring. She knew you were queer- or at least curious…
“Hi i’m Y/N. Welcome to The Barn, what can I get started for you babe?” your dazzling smile and plush pillowy lips were even more intriguing than your jewelry. Syd was sure she had a stupid starstruck look plastered across her face.
“Uh, pick up order?” Syd managed to answer your question with a question that made you giggle in response. “Are you one of The Bears?” you asked. Syd’s eyes narrowed as she thought of an answer, “Sorta? I’m the CDC.”
Syd’s explanation left you confused; Syd noticed and quickly clarified, “Chef de cuisine- sorta like a kitchen manager. I collaborate with the chef execuif- head chef- Carmy. Short blonde guy with a stick up his ass.”
You laughed at the explanation of Carmy and quickly asked, “So you’re like the second in command?” Syd nodded and watched as you picked up a travel tray of drinks and set it on the counter. “Here’s your order…” you trailed off as you turned away to grab a small paper pastry bag, “You like raspberry jelly cookies?”
Syd nodded, and your smile grew larger, revealing a small green crystal on your incisor. “Then here is a free cookie. I’m a bit of a baker, and Jeremy- the owner, lets me try new recipes sometimes.”
“Thank you. Oh, I’m Syd, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you, Syd. Have a good rest of your day.”
~
“There’s my favorite regular. Hey Syd!” you greeted as Syd walked into the coffee shop that afternoon. Syd grinned in response to your greeting and walked toward the counter. You put down the inventory checklist you’d been finalizing and went over to the register. “How you doin’ babe?”
“Confused, overworked, and underappreciated. The Carmy special.” Syd laughed as she leaned her palms against the redwood counter. “Sounds like my hard-workin’ girl could use a fudge espresso brownie.” you casually flirted, hoping today would be the day she’d ask for your phone number or at least your Instagram handle.
“You know the way to my heart, Y/N.” Syd smiled, making you blush.
After you handed Syd the drink tray and brownie, you sighed. “Syd, are you into girls?” the question came off more bluntly than you’d intended and Syd looked taken aback slightly but slowly nodded. “Okay. I’m in a band, we’re doing a garage sow on Wednesday- you should come.”
“I’ll be there.” Syd smiled as she put the tray back down on the counter. She then pulled her phone out of her pocket and quickly unlocked it before handing it to you. “Put your number in, and I’ll text you tonight for the details.”
“Cool. Have a good shift, Syd.” You smiled and handed her phone back. Your fingers grazed each other as she took it back. The promise of a text tonight and the idea of Syd coming to your show left your stomach fluttering for the rest of your shift.

My Guy, My Angel
Tumblr media
This is a part 2 of this fic I wrote and a second part was requested immensely.

--
Pedro started to hate Starbucks. It wasn't your coffee. Any coffee or coffee shop. No matter what brand, flavor, anything he tried. It wasn't from you. It wasn’t made with your love, your touch. Your smile made the coffee taste better, as he always told you.
He painted a smile on his face every camera he was in front of. He put on a good front that he was okay, but he was hurting. He walked out on the one person who made him feel safe, all because his brain made him worry.
Pedro thanked his driver and headed into his house, throwing his suitcase on the floor and falling on his couch. He laid in the dimmed room in silence for a few minutes before pulling out his phone. He found a flower store and a big bouquet of roses to be delivered to you the next day.
Your first full day back at work after everything happened with Pedro, and you still didn't want to go. But you owned the place, so you had to go in.
As soon as you walked in, you noticed the flowers on the counter and smiled. "Guys, this is so sweet. Thank you"
"These aren't from us" Danielle smiles and your stomach drops. You grab the vase and practically run into your office, locking the door. You search through the petals for a card, and you finally found the small son of a bitch.
"My angel. I'm sorry for everything. Call me."
You fell slowly in your chair, a smile on your face as tears fall down your cheeks. You laugh into your hand as you stare at the card, wiping your cheeks and grabbing your phone. Your thumb hovered over the call button under Pedro's name, but you accidentally pressed it while violently shaking.
It rung once. twice. And a third time.
Pedro's knuckles softly knocked on the metal door, keeping his head down until you opened your door. "Hi"
"Hello Pedro" you nod and step aside, Pedro coming in. "Anything to drink? Wine, water?" he slid off his jacket and hung it up, kicking off his shoes at the door.
“A wine sounds great, actually” he half smiles and you nod, turning around and grabbing a glass. You stood on your tip toes to try and grab another glass, but it was no use. “I can grab- oh okay” you climbed on the counter and Pedro stood behind you, helping you get down and letting his hands linger on your hips.
“I got it, Pedro. I’ve been getting things myself for a while now. Couple weeks” you kept the passive aggressive comment at a low tone, but it still stung Pedro. He deserved it.
“Right.. sorry” the room fell silent and the glugging of the wine splashing into the glass. You gave Pedro his wine, and he brushed his fingers against yours. “Thanks”
You pick up your glass and held it out to him, and he clicked it with a smile. You tried to hide yours but you let it slip when you took a sip.
“You know I am a baker, not a chef. So unless you want to eat banana bread, cupcakes and cookies for dinner with wine, I’d say let order something out” you head to the couch and Pedro turns his body and leans his elbow on the island as he watches you.
You take out the menus and open them, looking at Pedro. “Are you going to come pick something out?” you ask and he nods, sitting next to you.
He was almost a cushion away. He was nervous. He was scared. His eyes had a permanent puppy dog look where he already hurt you once, he was petrified to do it again.
"You can come closer, P. I know you can't see that well" you wink and he moves closer. Your thigh was touching his. This was all you got after weeks and weeks of silence. You wanted more, you needed more.
"I'm feeling.. hmph" you smile and lean back in the cushion. "What?"
"Always so picky, Pedrito" you sigh and he hits your knee. He looks at all the menus, picking up menu from the burrito place a couple streets away. "Good choice"
You ordered the food and Pedro watched every second. The way you played with your necklace nervously as you talked on the phone. Chewing your lip and letting your sentences fade.
You hung up and put your phone on the coffee table, grabbing your wine and laying back on the couch with Pedro. The room was quiet. You were waiting for someone to break it. You knew it had to be you.
"So.. 45 minutes for our food. What should we do in the meantime?" you ask and he inhales.
"We should.. talk about what happened" you raise your eyebrows as you swallow the rest of your wine, putting the glass down in the table rather aggressively. "But I'm not going to talk to you when you're angry"
"I have every right to be angry" your head whips in his direction and he sits up. "You left me. Not an explanation call, text. Nothing. 3 weeks I watched you on my tv. Phone. Laptop. The tvs in my coffee shop!"
Tears were falling. From the both of you.
"You left me, Pedro. And that hurt me.." you inhale and get up, wiping your face. You turn 180 and look at Pedro who was still sitting on the couch. "I have never felt a pain like that before"
You looked at him with a trembling chin as he set his wine glass down slowly and wiped his face, looking at you and standing up. "I know. I know it hurt you. Instead of telling you what was going on, I just left"
"And didn't speak to me for 3 weeks" you crossed your arms and he walked past you, sitting at the seat against the island.
"A guy my age has experienced.." he raised his hand as he tried to get the words out, but tears came out of his instead. He dropped his hand and lightly slapped his thigh. "A great amount of loss. People leaving me. And.. and that night, the finale, you looked at me and all I saw was every way I could lose you"
The air was thick. His words were letters swimming in the air. His tears couldn't stop. You slowly stepped towards him, opening his legs and stepping in between them. Pedro immediately leaned his head on your chest and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you tightly into him like you could melt into his skin.
"Calm down, Pedro. Breathe. It's okay" you whisper as you rub his back, your breaths becoming synced as he listened to your words. "Thank you for explaining why, Pedro" your hand held his cheeks, his teary puppy eyes watching you in awe. "But I would never.. ever.. leave or abandon you. You are someone I met for the first time and knew you would be a big part of my life. And you are. I am in love with watching you do what you do"
Pedro smiles, hugging you again. "Thank you for not hating me"
"That's ridiculous. I could never hate you, my Pedrito" you hold his cheeks again and rub your thumbs over his beard, feeling his breath on your mouth. "Friends can kiss, right?"
Pedro smiled, hand rubbing over your chest and holding the side of your neck. "I think we're past that" his thumb laid on your jaw under your ear as he pulled you in, the other arm wrapped tightly around your waist. "I've missed you so much, my angel"
You smile, pressing your nose against his as you wrap your arms around his neck. "I missed you more, my guy" he smiles and pushes his head forward, finally connecting your lips together.
Pedro's fears and worries seemed to fade as he melted into the shape of your mouth. He saw bright colors and his brain only saw the good parts of life with you. And it was all he ever dreamed of.
You.

Fic idea where Richie fully tries to reconnect with life
First chapter is Richie being invited to go dress shopping with Frank and Tiff as she's their flower girl. He gets along with them and thinks he could be friends
Second chapter is him reaching out to his parents, who he cut off contact with since he left home. He tells them what they missed, how they were partially right by their suspicion of the Berzattos because Richie feels like he keeps getting drawn in only to be pushed out when things get tough, he feels like their caretaker and the one putting them back together. It's rocky but it's a start. His dad apologises for the hard, neglectful way he treated him, and that he missed having him in his life a lot more than he cared about the rules he put in place. He shows them the Bear and his mother apologises then.
Third chapter is Richie applying for jobs. He's realised how this is another sinking ship and he can't go down with another Berzatto. I think it would be interesting if Carmy started to improve, he talks with Sydney and she ends up staying but Richie ends up leaving. He's spent most of his career in the same place and he's grown more than that. I think it would be a nice end to his character arc to have him leave the Bear, and in some ways the Berzatto family or at least him putting boundaries in place, while Sydney gets accepted in and let's herself be accepted.
This could also have him having some interviews that don't go well. Him being rejected, perhaps mirror Tina's episode with him putting so much time in at the Beef that's now the Bear but not being good enough for the same role elsewhere as he's not educated and doesn't have enough experience.
Fifth chapter is him getting a job. I can see him working somewhere not Michelin star as he doesn't care for them, but somewhere that cares about the food and the people. I can also see him working in a hotel, or, controversially (?) leaving the hospitality industry as a whole and taking his passion for people and working somewhere else.
Can anyone else see Richie as a good nurse or is it just me? Him seeing the same faces, having a rapour with them, making them smile and helping them, I can see him flirting with elderly ladies to make them smile (yes I'm thinking of him being a palliative care/geriatric nurse
He hands in his notice at the Bear and when asked why he goes into how it's heartless. He's trying so hard to improve himself but how can he when there's so much tension and he's not respected, he's earning the same wage as he did at the Beef but is working so much harder and longer and is still relying on tips even though people pay $175 a head. He also tells them, trying to be respectful, how they've all collectively failed at making the Beef better by wrapping their dysfunctions in a different jacket, so to speak. Syd wanted things to be better, for people not to feel and act shitty but now it's even worse because there's no fun. They've got more debt and everyone's unhappy and he can't put another Berzatto back together, he can't go down with another sinking ship and he respects himself more than that.
Sixth chapter could be a time skip. Think 2 years later, Richie’s finished his associates degree in nursing and is starting as a nurse for a carer company. He goes out to celebrate, someone books the Bear, he's heard that things are better, not Michelin star but not shitty quality like the Beef, somewhere in the middle.
It's strange for everyone else, seeing Richie as the customer. He kept in touch, but life's busy, he became more like a true cousin, one you see more at family functions than day in day out. He’s on good terms with his parents, good friends with Tiff and Frank, Eva’s growing up, turning 8 now. They stay close to closing, he leaves a big tip but waves through the window before going.

The description of the space station is based on my own experiences during a ten hour layover in Singapore.
"Are you alright? Do you have a bout of telesickness?" Brigadeiro Bun asked as Revati stared off into space.
"Telewhat?" Revati asked, her brain snapping back into place.
When Amma and Nanni heard that Revati was about to go off-world, they tried to prepare her.
"It's not like your other wasteland adventures where you wandered into a city on foot! You'll need to buy tickets; then apply for a tourism visa," Amma explained.
"My what?" Revati asked, completely confused.
"The actual teleporting takes less than a second, but you will have to spend at least an hour in customs and immigration and four hours in the teleport waiting your turn," Nanni added.
It was all incredibly exhausting and confusing.
The teleport hub they were waiting in was deliberately designed to make people forget they were waiting. Bright, expensive shops with intricate displays created pathways to different teleportation gates. Massive, giant flowering bushes surrounded by clouds of butterflies brushed against the glass ceiling. In the center of everything, there was a crystal pond. Robotic bronze mermaids swam up and down underneath the lily pads.
Tumblr media
"Telesickness! It's okay, a lot of people not used to teleporting end up with upset stomachs," Brigadeiro reassured her, handing her something small and pink from his shirt pocket.
"This should help, their stomach stabilizers! I bought them in the bathroom," Brigadeiro smiled helpfully, and Revati took one, popping it into her mouth before promptly spitting it out.
"It tastes like gasoline," Revati grimaced.
"You're not supposed to eat it! You rub it on your temples," Brigadeiro explained gently before picking the stomach stabilizer up off her lap.
"Please don't rub that all over my temples; it has my spit on it," Revati pointed out, shutting her eyes.
"Are you sure you're not sick?" Brigadeiro asked.
"I'm just exhausted; we've teleported so many times I have no idea where we are," Revati sighed, closing her gritty eyes.
"We're at the Anh Do memorial teleport hub; he was a figure from southwest Sydney legends! When he was a baby, he was on a boat attacked by pirates. Then he grew up to become a famous children's writer and artist," Brigadeiro rattled on.
Revati felt herself slump to one side with exhaustion, her head landing on something soft.
Brigadeiro's home wasn't even technically a planet. Rather, it was a series of six space stations, each representing different areas of a land once known as "Australia." The Southwest Sydney Station was so big it had its own weather patterns, ecosystem, and geography. Most of it consisted of expensive tourist resorts, beachside towns, and theme parks. Brigadeiro had explained many times before that his family was part of the 15 million-strong workforce that lived in the secret employee-only towns and cities. Someone, hopefully Brigadeiro, was gently massaging her scalp, and Revati felt herself fall into a drowsy, dark state.
Revati wasn't sure how long she had been snoozing when the screaming sirens suddenly filled the air. Revati's self-preservation instincts kicked in, and her eyes snapped open. Within seconds, she was back on her feet, reaching for her mace.
"You had to leave the weapon at security back on Mars," Brigadeiro reminded her as hundreds of people suddenly started flowing out of the teleport gates. The air was thick with sirens and flashing blue lights as the crowd swelled around her. Brigadeiro snatched her hand, and together they were swept forward in the tidal wave of chaos.
People were everywhere, their faces blurred by the rapidity of the moment, their shouts and cries a blurry nonsense of at least a dozen different languages. In a second of terror, Revati found herself thrown down. Feet pounded on her back as she curled herself up into a ball. There was a sudden break in people, and Revati saw a glimpse of the mermaid pool. Revati forced herself forward and grabbed the pool's safety fence, hauling herself over the edge. She landed with a splash into the shallow water. For a few moments, all Revati could hear was the pounding of the mob and sirens.
All Revati could feel was her body as the robot mermaids bumped into her before swimming away. The glass ceiling above had clouded over, turning an eerie white. There was a sudden buzzing on Revati's wrist, indicating her bangle had an incoming call. It was the android. Of course, it was.
"Ignore," Revati groaned, sitting up, and a tiny mermaid bounced off her cleavage. Somehow, half her shirt had managed to get ripped off. The crowd wasn't as thick, but people were still charging past the shops heading to some unknown destination. The sirens suddenly stopped.
"All interstellar teleport gates have been switched off temporarily! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused," a lady's voice chimed over the speakers. People slowly stopped running and instead began to shuffle around.
Tiny first aid drones began to zoom out of the shops, attending to the fallen. Through it all, Revati scanned and searched. Spotting Brigadeiro was far harder than usual since many people in the hub had pink, curly hair. Finally, she saw him across the crowd in the doorway of a chocolate shop. A woman was lying at his feet. Revati slowly stood, her legs wobbling, before climbing out of the pond. By the time she managed to push her way through to the storefront, she had heard several whispers. There had been an attack on another Space Station known as “Cairnes”. The crowd consisted of tourists and travelers who fled when an employee opened up a teleportation gate during the attack. Brigadeiro was attending to the woman who was bleeding all over the shop floor from a gash on her temples.
"Oh, thank Goup!" Brigadeiro cried, wrapping Revati in a smothering hug. Brigadeiro was, of course, a little shorter than her, and he nuzzled his face into her shoulder, sobbing.
"It's alright, I'm fine," Revati assured him, petting his back, and Brigadeiro sobbed.
"It's not that; Cairnes has been destroyed! Millions are dead," Brigadeiro's voice choked.
"Destroyed?" Revati gasped. The bleeding lady on the ground twitched, and Revati let go of Brigadeiro in order to check her. The lady was a bit older than Revati, probably in her late twenties. She had the pale, sickly skin and brighter blue hair of those who came from the northern parts of Mars. Her haircut, however, was similar to the trendy “mushroom cap” style she had seen on the space station – short with a blunt fringe. Revati reached into one of her pants pockets, pulling out a trusty medibandage, and stuck it onto the woman’s temple. Even while unconscious, she had the expression of someone fully capable of starting a riot in a coffee shop. It clashed violently with her bright purple tropical print shirt and neon pink watch. The watch. Revati grabbed the unconscious lady's hand to examine the watch.
"SOS Emergency Medical Information," she said to the watch. Its screen flickered, and a tiny 3D hologram of the lady appeared.
"My name is Pauletta Chuchotor, I am twenty-nine years old! My blood type is B- and I'm allergic to Venusian swamp gas," the hologram said cheerfully, and suddenly the hologram switched off as tight fingers wrapped themselves around Revati's wrist.
Revati glanced at the lady who was now staring at her with bloodshot green eyes.
"My personal information isn't for you," she said in a deep, raspy voice.
"Good to know," Revati said. Pauletta Chuchotor was staring at her curiously.
"I don't forget faces easily," she said, her fingernails still digging into Revati's wrist.
"Ok," Revati replied uneasily, wondering if the lady had a brain injury.
"You look a little like someone I met a long time ago," Pauletta said, as if accusing Revati of something terrible.
"I got a message from Dad; the news says all the teleporting hubs have been shut down! He says we should leave the hub and take the workers' bullet train back to Paprika Station before they stop running," Brigadeiro said, gesturing to his grey bracelet.
"A bullet train? Like the one in Olde Landon? I thought this space station was supposed to be super advanced?" Revati asked, completely confused.
"It is, but teleportation has a weight limit of six hundred kilograms; the trains are used when we need to transport bulk goods and supplies to different resorts," Brigadeiro explained.
"I also need to go to this Paprika Station; I will follow you," Pauletta Chuchotor remarked, and Revati exchanged a look with Brigadeiro.
"I mean, it's not like we can stop her," Brigadeiro pointed out.
The train ride to Paprika Station turned out to be far more exhausting, bewildering, and strangely smelly than teleporting. Everyone seemed to know Brigadeiro Bun, and by extension, everyone seemed to know Revati.
"Bridgadeiro! Your mama said you would be back for Applefestus! And is this the famous Revati from Mars?" An old lady with orange hair said to them as they waited for the train.
"I may have mentioned you in my messages home; this is my mother's friend Mrs. Jambalaya from church," Brigadeiro said as the old lady descended onto Revati in a cloud of vanilla perfume.
"Oh, she's so pretty! Such big amber eyes! And who's that?" She asked, nodding at Pauletta, who was standing several feet away from them, staring into the distance.
"No idea, we think she's an injured tourist," Brigadeiro admitted as Revati quietly blushed. No one in Olde Landon had ever called her pretty.
"Bridge! Did you hear about the terrorist attack? My dad said appliances from Mars did it," someone yelled when they finally got onto the cramped train. A teenage boy with dark skin and fuchsia braids was waving at them from a row of seats.
"We were at the capital telehub when it happened! Revati, this is my cousin Pecan," Brigadeiro explained as they sat down.
Pecan gasped with horror. "Oh, Goup! You're the girl Bridge is bringing home for Applefestus! You probably don't want us talking about the war," Pecan remarked.
"It's fine; I'm too tired and freaked out to care," Revati assured him.
"Why don't you take a nap? The ride to Paprika Station takes around four hours," Brigadeiro said, tapping his shoulder. Revati sighed gratefully, her head dropping onto his shoulder. Before her eyes shut, she spotted Pauletta standing on the other side of the carriage, staring at her with dried blood still in her hair.

You don't met at the Beef, at least you don't work there.
You'll probably be working close by and when Sydney comes in you at once interest her.
She starts coming in just to talk to you about you.
You two end up going on a date after hours and go to a movie.
Sydney isn't a huge fan of movie dates but it's easy and gives you both something to talk about.
For there you're sort of friends sort of dating.
It's hard for either of you to name what you two are.
Finally Sydney feels the need to name your relationship and you two start dating.
Sydney is a good partner but she has a bad habit of forgetting little things.
Her keys, her phone, your wallet. She just needs to always be thinking and it's hard to turn off her brain.
She likes K-pop so you better get used to K-pop and I don't mean just Twice, blackpink and BTS. She listens to Red velvet, Stray Kids, Block B, Weeekly, Jessi and Yukika. She has wide taste.
Most of Sydney clothes are second hand or vintage so clothes shopping is a chore all its own but she makes it fun.
She likes browsing stores and buying nothing, she does it a lot while you're out.
Sydney doesn't have a favorite color but she'll never forget yours.
Or really anything about you.
She is the kind of person to give little gifts just because she knows you like the thing it's from.
You don't go into the Beer while it's open but you do help with setting up The Bear. She didn't want you in her workplace till you stepped in to help.
Sydney argues a lot. It can even be the way to process things so she really appreciates someone who doesn't like fighting and is a good listener. She goes off on how Richie annoyed her today and how Carmy wouldn't listen to her and just having you listen to her rant makes her love you more.
