If I see one more post trashing on the Sonic movies just because they're not like the games and because of the human characters I'm going to explode and then punt the sun itself into their faces
GUUUYYYSSSSS. THERE'S THIS MAGIC THING CALLED A MULTIVERSE. THE SONIC MOVIES ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THE GAMES, THEY ARE IN AN ENTIRELY SEPARATE UNIVERSE. YOU SHOULD NOT BE JUDGING THEM BASED ON HOW WELL THEY FOLLOW THE GAME CANON, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THE GAMES. THE MOVIES AND THE GAMES CAN COEXIST AS SEPARATE UNIVERSES OF THE SAME CHARACTERS LIVING THEIR LIVES IN DIFFERENT WAYS, MKAY??
Once you accept this I can almost guarantee you'll be a much happier fan. I can testify. 😘
Sonic Wachowski ≠ Game!Sonic. Because they grew up in different environments and around different people in different circumstances, and that changed the way they turned out. I believe that if Wachowski grew up the same way Game! did, he would've turned out like Game! did. I also believe that if Game! grew up the same way Wachowski did, he would've turned out like Wachowski did. The core of this character is the same. In both the movies and the games, he's the fastest thing alive, he LOVES running, he loves his friends, he loves chili dogs, he loves living, and he will fight for what he believes is right. 💙
Just take into account the different worlds, the different lives, the different influences, and the fact that the movies are not trying to imitate the games (I thought this was obvious from day 1?) and it'll be a lot more fun in this fandom for you. In fact, you'll find you're a lot happier when you're actually taking time to love and appreciate the things you're interested in rather than just nitpicking about everything. 👌😜
And if you don't like the movies, you can kindly leave them be as well as all those of us who DO enjoy the movies. If you only like the games, stick to the games. 💙

I totally get what you mean. I also got into the fandom via the SCU, and so even though I've expanded my love to the entirety of the Sonic franchise, the movies forever hold a special place in my heart. I was very bothered as well at all the hate people have thrown towards the Knuckles series, to say the least.
But here's the thing. All this hate is just a ridiculous manifestation of immense immaturity on the part of said haters. Yes, it's totally fine to have opinions and not like something. But to feel the need to publicly trash it and shame others for enjoying it? Low, unnecessary, immature. If people don't like something, they can either consider the flaws in a calm, rational manner, or they can leave it be and move on with their lives.
I do know I can confidently say that you're not alone as an SCU lover; nothing will ever make me hate it. 💙 I dearly love the Wachowskis and the world they live in. The vibe of the SCU is warmth, comfort, family to me. No one has the right to take that away from me or you.
So, in the face of the immaturity and hate all around us, let's choose to be all the more loving and positive towards the things we love. Let's make up for all the hate with all our love for it. 💙 Don't let anyone shame us for choosing to have fun and be positive, because there is nothing to be ashamed of in such.
Much love! 🥰💙💛❤️
I debated making this post for a long time. Something's been eating at me for a while, and I couldn't figure out what until very recently.
So I haven't felt inspired to really work on my writing for weeks. The hate and anger being spewed toward the SCU in general, and the Knuckles series in particular, has really affected me more than I thought it did.
I came into the Sonic fandom by way of the movies. I love that universe, I love the characters, Knuckles being my favorite. My writing is primarily for the movieverse. That's what I'm comfortable with, and what interests me to really dig into.
Yes, I love game Knux. I've written some stuff for him, and that's great. He's fun to play with, too. But the SCU is where I 'live'.
I know the series is extremely polarizing. You either like it or hate it, and I get that it won't be everyone's cup of tea. I get that they did some things in it that were odd and didn't make much sense. I would have handled some things differently, too. It wasn't without its flaws.
But overall I found it a fun ride, and took it for what it was intended as - bonus content that likely won't have that much sway over anything upcoming in the movies. Not everyone will be able to see the show, after all, so they can't drop any major lore or additional stuff that's need to know for the rest of the verse.
I've seen more than one person claim that they hated the show so much they now hate the SCU in general. That Knuckles' portrayal was so different from what they were expecting, they're hurt and sad and angry about it. Totally get that. They feel betrayed. Understandable.
But what I'm feeling now is also a form of betrayal, because I felt accepted and welcomed into the Sonic fandom, and now that the SCU is viewed with such disgust and anger, moreso than before, I feel judged for enjoying it. I feel hurt and sad and angry that people are being so down on and dismissive of SCU Knux, a Knuckles I absolutely adore, simply because he's not being portrayed like he is in the games or other media.
Like someone came into a secret place I felt most safe and comfortable, took a look at something that made me happy, and sneered with a "You like that?"
I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm in no way policing what people can talk about, or saying they can't hate something I enjoy. I'm not saying they're not entitled to voice their opinion on something. They're as free to talk about it as I am.
But I'd be lying if I said this didn't bother me. More than I thought it would.
Maybe I'm being too thin-skinned, or over sensitive. Maybe I'm just sick of all the hate thrown around in general. Maybe I'm hoping that giving 'voice' to how I'm feeling will help me work through it and feel better.
All I know is that I'm feeling uncomfortable really engaging with a lot of the fandom right now, and it's making me really sad.

Sonic And The Black Knight AU
I don’t think there’s any chance they’ll adapt any of the storybook games since I think it would be weird even for the SCU. But if I had to choose between the two storybook games I would adapt Sonic and the black knight, though it would be a loose adaptation.
Unlike the game, the world Sonic is summoned to another planet/realm instead of being sent to the story of King Authur. Think how the MCU handled Thor's world and the magic in it.
Context:
Amy has always dreamt of going on adventures with the warp rings she creates but her duties as a ring maiden prevent this. One day during her routine of creating warp rings for travelers she meets Sonic who has been summoned to her planet for a quest. Sonic asks Amy if she wants to join him on his quest, but she initially declines due to her duties and lack of confidence in her magic abilities. Sonic offers her words of reassurance and makes a promise that he’ll make sure she’ll have the most amazing adventures as long as she sticks with him.
He does this while offering one of the rings that she dropped, Amy couldn’t help but accept the offer. Sonic would later feel embarrassed that he technically proposed to Amy through earth traditions. Amy doesn’t know(she doesn’t know anything about Earth marriage proposal traditions) for now… so Sonic is taking this information to the grave if he can help it.
Bonus context:
Amy wasn’t originally from this planet. She doesn't know how she got here when she was young.
Since she grew up on this planet, she has learned and developed magical abilities. when she arrives on Earth with Sonic she takes the time to develop more defensive and offensive magical skills to aid her new friends. She develops abilities like her hammer, sixth senses, tarot magic (frontiers), and invisibility(maybe other skills too).
Amy can create as many warp rings as she wants as long as she has fresh clean water and enough energy/mana. This comes in handy since the bros have a habit of losing rings.
Once G.U.N and other foes learn of Amy’s warp ring creation ability she becomes a target. Fortunately for Amy, she is well protected by the Wachowski bros, especially Sonic.
Amy kept the warp ring sonic returned to her that day (she wears it on a necklace).

The idea for this is to make a Discord server for fans of SCU Knuckles (or the SCU in general??) to avoid the recent wave of negativity and uplift creatives who still want to write and draw stuff for this version of Knuckles. It would be an adults only, sfw place to share fic and art wips and talk about scu Knuckles-specific aus and headcanons.
This would *not* be a server only for people who liked the show. It's for people who like scu Knuckles. In fact I would probably implement a rule that we not say whether we liked the show or not, since it is so polarizing right now. Instead, I would have an opt-in thread where people can vent about their frustrations with the show/movies in an environment where ultimately we all still love movie Knux and the people who don't want to hear that criticism don't have to.
This would be a support group, not a defense squad. No trashing people who don't like the scu. No putting down other iterations of Knuckles or slamming other Sonic media.
The number one goal of the server would be to inspire and support all the scu Knuckles fic authors and fanartists who maybe have been feeling alienated/isolated by the backlash against the show, so we can have a safe, supportive space to jam about our favorite boy.
(feel free to reblog this to help spread the interest check)

Wait hold up if G.U.N was created as an after effect of Sonics and Dr. Robotniks fight in San Francisco, what does that mean for Shadow?
Wasn’t G.U.N the organisation that hunted him down and was the cause of Maria’s death? Unless I’m remembering it wrong, which I might be tbh. Does that mean there was another unit monitoring Gerald and deemed him too deadly or was it still G.U.N that just reformed on a larger scale after the SF fight.
I can see higher ups being aware of Project Shadow but how much do they really know?
Aaahhh the SCU actually looking at consequences of the previous films is refreshing and interesting to consider, it’s actually a really intriguing part and hopefully it’ll be done well!
Hey Hon!❤️✨
You’re correct in G.U.N.’s origins in the game! Don’t worry, I promise. I know that the Adventure games and Shadow’s game are a bit hard to come by, but you’ve got the general idea correct. (This is the post in reference if anyone is curious).
We must remember that these movies are going to be a bit different from the games. The movies use the backbones and “meat” of the games in order to tell their versions of the story. Some of it will require knowledge of the games while others may try and spin a concept in a different light.
We know what Guardian Units of Nations is because we’re diehard fans. Beginner and casual fans might not know. And that’s okay! We know that they’re a nation’s defense force; a military organization established to respond to major criminal cases and domestic conflicts (SA2’s Hero/Dark game guide). That’s kinda like saying they’re the equivalent of modern day military, right? The movie’s explanation for G.U.N. might be that they’re a military branch that responds to conflict both domestic and international. It would make sense. General Walters works at the Pentagon, wears various combat badges, share his unit ranking, and all that jazz. So, yeah! It’s quite possible for G.U.N. to be a newly established task force, but have recruiters transfer to a new branch. They probably are relatively new.
As for knowing who Shadow is, it’s quite possible that he could be an X-File of sorts in this scenario. In all honesty, it really wouldn’t surprise me if he was classified as something like that. We know that Shadow’s both a weapon and a cure. It’s very possible for higher-ups to know his existence, have it filed/redacted somewhere in archives, and having high-ranking officials know about him. As of right now, we don’t know what Shadow’s fate will be. It’s really up to him to determine that.
Honestly, anything is fair game at this point! I’m excited to see what’s brought to the table for this one.😁

Round 1 poll 24: Casey Murphey from the 2019-2020 Florida Mock Trial case: “State of Florida v. Casey Murphy” vs Gladys Ormphby from Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut:
Casey Murphey
I have a lot of obscure mock trial blorbos but I’m going to start with Casey Murphy because I think they best encapsulate the depths of weirdness some of my blorbo relationships with these characters can get to. So to start, I have never been enrolled in a school in Florida. Or even anywhere near there. I visited a few times as a very little kid, but my schooling has been in the Midwest and the Northeast. I also was not remotely involved in high school mock trial in the 2019-2020 school year. I only know Casey Murphy because I used to be part of an online mock trial group that picked up the case a few years later. In fact, I took Casey as a witness as a joke because I had also been a defendant named Casey in the case we did before State v. Murphy. But Casey is my tragic scrungly. The autism took hold on them. BASICALLY they were a slightly “below average” kid grappling with the huge academic expectations their family had. Specifically, there was a college (Southern Coastal University) that their family had been going to for generations. But when Casey applied, they got waitlisted. They managed to make it in right before the school year started, but they were put on probation because of the short notice. A few weeks into the year, though, Casey was talking to their older brother Patrick (basically their closest friend) and they find out about a secret society called SCU Underground that their family has been in since it was founded. Originally called SCU for Change, it was a student activist group. They learn about some shady things happening at the school and how SCUU planned to combat it by holding a protest bonfire. Patrick invited Casey to the next meeting, and Casey was very excited to prove themself. Later psychological testing showed that Casey was among the most easily suggestible in society, so it’s clear that this was important to them. Here’s where things get unclear. All we know for certain is that Casey bought lighter fluid and vodka (likely using a fake ID considering they were only 18) from a liquor store. They brought those things, along with their laptop, in their backpack to the meeting. There was an argument which ended in someone named Cal Robbins storming out of the old student union building which the meeting was being held in. Then, the building burned down, and Casey came out later than everyone else before being arrested and confessing to burning down the building. The prosecution’s claim is that Casey brought the materials to burn down the building to prove their loyalty to the cause. They might have been influenced by Patrick to do it, but either way they actually committed the act. The defense’s claim, which I find more compelling as a story, is that the lighter fluid was to show that they were prepared for the bonfire, the vodka was as a peace offering considering that they were a new member, and the fire was caused by a projector overloading the old building’s power. Casey ran back in to get their laptop so they could continue their school work, and also didn’t know the layout as well as the returning members, so they came back out later than everyone else. Then they were arrested, treated poorly, and were coerced into a false confession because they were lead to believe Patrick would be found guilty if they didn’t. It’s all just so sad and angsty to me, especially seeing as they were found guilty at the trial I did so I always mentally fill in them being falsely imprisoned at the end. They just wanted to prove themself to their family, to step out of their brother’s shadow, and this is where it lead them. Also here’s my playlist lol https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2ccMwC9xV83ddZoANpejE1?si=nGtWp7MvS7WXJEWLMrBNVw Also also, like most mt witnesses, no canon gender or pronouns which is very cool of them
Gladys Ormphby
From a show that’s over 50 years old. Extremely powerful as she beats guys with her purse when they offend her, yet has a perpetually gloomy demeanor. In most circumstances she’s the personification of “I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing!” Sometimes she is allowed a little scrap of dignity as a treat and it’s so much fun to watch. Gladys is quite flirtatious, has a quirky sense of style (some would say, lack thereof), has no sense of personal space, and really really loves chocolate. Despite her seemingly being so bland, every one of her appearances in her source material somehow has a silly surprise to offer. She was also featured in a very short lived cartoon series, Baggy Pants and the Nitwits. In conclusion, “though she be but little, she is fierce” - vote for gaslight gatekeep girlboss Gladys!!!

I wonder how filming on the third movie is doing…
Fang: "Psst... I, Fang the Hunter, have returned from the murky depths to seek my revenge and banish your souls to the nether regions! Their defenses are strong, but they are no match for my Marvelous Queen!"
Sonic: "What are you doing?"
Fang: "Fleet-feet, I was made for this role!"
Sonic: "You're not even in this movie. But let me see if we have something that fits your qualifications. Oh, here's something." [takes microphone stand] "You can be the boom operator!"
Fang: "I thought Bean was the boom operator!"
Bean: "Did somebody say 'boom'?" [blows up Bark in the background]
I wouldn’t know how to react if we got a SCU version of the Hooligans instead of the Chaotix first. That would be such a whiplash injury to get through XD

I’ve officially been a Sonic fan for a year!
And to celebrate, since my bestie @thewritingautisticat and I were first properly introduced to said fandom via the movies, I decided to post a big fat rant about how much I absolutely ADORE the movie universe. Right alongside every other aspect of this amazing franchise.
Here’s the thing. I’ve seen people claim to be the #1 SCU defenders/lovers/etc., and then I’d explore their blog and still find them complaining about the human characters, and still imply that the movie universe isn’t as good as the games because it’s different.
Me? Dudes and dudettes, I think I’m one of the only people who can truly claim to be the #1 SCU defender. Because I love the movies in ALL their differences and wackiness. I don’t just tolerate the presence of the human characters, I love them. Right alongside Sonic and the original cast. During those wedding scenes in the second movie, the parts where everyone seemed to complain that they were bored and just waiting for it to get back to Sonic? I was loving every second of it. I see the human characters to be just as much Sonic characters as Sonic himself, Knuckles, Tails, etc.
I love scenes with Tom because he’s Sonic’s adoptive father. I love scenes with Maddie because she’s Sonic’s adoptive mother. Rachel is his crazy, unhinged aunt. Jojo is his chill cousin. That’s his family right there. Right alongside Knuckles and Tails, his adoptive brothers in the cinematic universe. I love and accept them just as much. I’ve barely seen anyone else do the same.
I love that the movies give Sonic (and the others) the ability to do something that the games can never do: be a kid. They show him to be kind, compassionate, empathetic, energetic, fun-loving, adventurous, sassy, and heroic, just like his game counterpart. And then they give him more: they give him parents who love and support him. Who cheer him on from the sidelines as he’s off fighting giant robots. Who will give their lives for him without a second thought.
People complain that the first movie isn’t a good “Sonic” movie? I disagree there, too. Because it’s missing the other characters and the lore and all that? Is Sonic not Sonic if he’s separated from his friends and original home? No. The first movie didn’t focus on the lore. The first movie focused on Sonic, him as a character. They established the settings of this new, alternate world for Sonic. Gave him a backstory because the games never do. They let him be a hero and a kid at the same time.
Guys. Paramount found themselves with rights to make a Sonic movie. A movie with a version of Sonic who had zero mandates hanging over his head. Did you really think they were just going to make a story that we’d probably see as a game someday? No, they were not going to miss this opportunity. They rewrote his story in this alternate version. They let him be a few years younger. They let him be emotional. They even gave him extra epic powers linked to said emotions, and those powers have even impacted the games.
I love the voice actor they chose for Sonic. People complain he doesn’t sound like he does in the games. So? The people who casted the voices weren’t looking for a soundalike voice actor. They were looking for an energetic, optimistic voice. Because that’s how they saw Sonic. Is he not? He feels like the very embodiment of energy and optimism a lot of the time. So I love the choice of Ben Schwartz. He does amazingly.
And about him getting adopted by humans? Found family is not a new trope in the Sonic franchise. In the games, we have Sonic raising Tails as his little brother. We have the Chaotix, a team consisting of a grown dude, an angsty teenager, and a literal child who see each other as family. We have Amy being a big sister to Cream and Tails. We have Vanilla being a mother figure to half the cast. We have the ARK siblings. The list goes on. Is it really so “cringey” to let Sonic himself get adopted? Especially when he’s younger than the game version, and was properly given the chance to be a kid? To have fun with his brothers and parents outside of fighting Eggman? And by parents who accept him wholly for who he is, strive to take care of him where they can, and allow him to relax and enjoy the remainder of his childhood??
Not to mention, Tom and Maddie are literally the perfect parents for Sonic (and later Knuckles and Tails). For one, they’re a very healthy couple. They’ve loved and supported each other for years even before their marriage and before meeting Sonic. Green flag number one. For two, they understand Sonic, they see that he’s still a kid and they want to help him, they try to “steer him in the right direction,” and they don’t try to stifle him and his love of running and adventure. Tom is a cop, a very good cop I might add (I absolutely refuse to listen to any of the crappy hate I’ve seen towards Tom just because he’s a police officer), and he’s inclined to help people just like Sonic is. Maddie is a vet, she loves animals. Sonic is literally an anthropomorphic hedgehog. She knows better on how to take care of him; and even before she got to know him, she still tended to his needs when he was out of it, even being cautious in doing so because she didn’t yet know his physiology.
So yes, I love the SCU. I love seeing the Wachowski family doing mundane, everyday things just as much as I love seeing the boys in epic battle scenes. I loved watching Sonic and Tom have a father-son bonding moment on a fishing trip. I loved watching them play along with his airport setup the same way parents play along with their child’s imagination. I loved watching them ask for a hug goodbye, make sure he knew how to contact them in case of an emergency, blow him kisses as the ring closed. I loved that Tom kept calling and texting Sonic to check in on him just like any parent would while they were away. I loved seeing Tom express wishing that Sonic could have buddies like him. I loved seeing Maddie call him “their kid.” I most especially loved seeing Sonic finally call Tom “Dad.”
I loved seeing my favorite trio of alien boys ride in the back of a truck, even though none of them needed the transportation, bickering about the baseball game they just played as their parents drive them out for ice cream.
Does this mean I prefer the SCU over the games? No. I love the games just as much, and I could easily rant on everything I love about them as well. I’m just not planning to because it’s not necessary. They’re the mainline thing.
Even though I’m disappointed to have missed so many years in this amazing fandom, I think I like being a fresh fan. I constantly see people griping and complaining about this or that in some area of the franchise, and tbh it annoys me. I’ve been ruined for reading reviews because I find people hating on things I liked. I introduce “NO-HATE REVIEW!” Not complaining about what I didn’t like, because there’s not much. Just loving on what I loved. Sharing my excitement with others.
As a result, I’ll later post similar rambles about other parts of the franchise I want to defend. Such as the IDW comics. Sonic Prime. Sonic Frontiers. All the parts people are far too quick to judge.
Replies that are hateful or irrelevant will be deleted. 👌
(A little later I’m also going to make a celebratory post about how this franchise literally changed my life in a good way XD)

Let's talk about why Knuckles likes grapes. (After another conversation with @nights-nonsensical-ramblings)
The simplest explanation is, he simply does. They're juicy and tasty and a healthy snack. Why wouldn't he like them?
Tumblr media
But let's deep dive a bit.
Grapes don't strike me as being native to Angel Island. I mean, they could be, I don't know the exact layout and local flora and fauna of the island. But, for the sake of this discussion, let's say they're not.
So where did they come from? How does Knuckles know about them?
Eggman brought them when he crash landed on the island.
In an attempt to befriend this little semi-feral creature who rushes out to confront him, the doctor offers the little beast some grapes. Knuckles cautiously takes them, discovers them delicious, and deems the doctor no threat.
Knuckles associates grapes with friendship.
When the doctor discovers this little creature loves grapes, he keeps supplying them as he gains the boy's trust, telling him of the evil hedgehog and fox who are on his tail. Yadda yadda, Knux fights in defense of Eggman until the guy betrays him, then he fights with Sonic and Tails to bring him down.
Okay, so why doesn't Knux associate grapes with betrayal?
Because after all this, Knuckles befriends Sonic and Tails. One day they're down on the planet, doing their thing, and Knuckles spies some grapes. He stares maybe a little too long, feeling a pang of hurt as he remembers how tasty they were, but now they're tainted because of Eggman's ultimate betrayal in the end. He draws the attention of the others, but when they ask he brushes it off, probably a little gruffly, and stalks away.
Later, as he's heading back to his island, Tails comes running up to him with a little bag full of grapes. Knuckles is confused--why did he do this? The little fox shrugged and replies with a smile, "You seemed like you really wanted them. And you can think of us and your time down here when you eat them!"
And maybe the pain he'd felt before fades a bit.
This works for SCU Knux, too. In that egg ship thing they used to return to the Mean Bean after Sonic and Tails escaped, there was probably a 'welcome back' fruit basket from Stone. (You know that's the kind of thing he'd do.) In the basket are a batch of grapes, which Robotnik doesn't like. He sees Knuckles kinda staring at the food--some of which he'd never seen before but he's hungry, he hasn't eaten in a while--and Robotnik gets that smarmy little smile and gives the boy the grapes. "Consider it a symbol of our alliance, and a welcome gift to the great planet Earth."
No one had ever given Knuckles food before, without some immediate payment requested. He and Robotnik were already allies at this point, so the offer of this food isn't necessarily tied to that partnership.
From Knuckles' perspective, Robotnik was sharing food to be nice.
No one's ever been nice to him before.
Movie!Knux wouldn't necessarily hold it against the grapes that Robotnik was a dishonorable dick, and they were tasty, which is why he asks Sonic about them at the end of the film. He's hoping to get more of them, and share them with his new friends/family.

Glados lay still, like a spider at the center of her great web, she rested in her nest beneath the streets of Arcadia. The nest lay at the junction of  all the  major tunnels, where the flow of the upper city reached her through air currents and distant echoes. From here she could sense the pulse of the city’s life and hear the whirring of the life support generators that ran to keep the planet habitable.
Rather than one large terraforming facility, Arcadia had over a thousand smaller generators. Yes certainly it was a bitch to get around to all of them and fix them, but at the very least it would be impossible to take them all out all at once.  Arcadia had been designed by warriors for warriors, ahd that meant creating a defensible infrastructure that wasn’t so prone to sabotage.
Not to mention each generator was heavily guarded and then remotely monitored.
It took a series of five people to open a generator with the proper access codes, or one of the three members of the triumvirate could do it. She supposed director Conn could as well, but he knew almost everything. It may have sounded like overkill, but the thought process remained that it was unlikely someone could corrupt all three generator key admins at once AND the proper offsite monitor.
And then there was her.
Glados didn’t HAVE to live in the tunnels, no one made her do it, and no one had ever overtly made her feel unwelcome, but after the Adaptids had closed themselves off for visitors, Glados had cast her lot in with her Father and his people, but that meant she was one of the only ones of her kind, and it was hard not to feel a bit isolated.
Well, that was not counting her first partner, who clung to the underside of her belly with his many legs, but the male adaptids weren’t exactly one for stimulating conversation. In fact, they lived their lives mostly comatose until they were actually needed for genetic material, generally speaking adapids society was run primarily by females and the third sex, of which Glados remembered little, and she certainly had her doubts that anyone on anin would be eager to do her a favor and carry an egg sack.
Ending up in the tunnels had sort of been a natural progression for her, and now she was a guardian of the city, basically a myth, and one of Arcadia’s favorite cryptids, if not more friendly than your average cryptid tends to be.
And there she sat, brooding darkly, surrounded by piles of fluffy pillows, stacks of comic books, and other various odds and ends. And the brooding might have continued were it not for the sudden change in smell that reached her nose. Adaptids have an amazing sense of smell, as, the generation before her had communicated primarily by the subtle variation in release of pheromones. Though, Glados could talk, with her human vocal cords, she still maintained her incredible sense of smell.
A single change in the tunnels was enough to alter the entire chemistry of the underground.
She always knew when Adam was coming to visit.
Or Narobi.
Or Sunny.
A single body entering the air flow of the deep tunnels was significant enough to alert her to their presence. She knew everyone, recognized their sent…
But not this time
Whatever it was, the creature was alive, that much she was sure.
And it was human…. Or at least it smelled mostly human.
Glados rose to her feet, lifting her snout to the air which was suddenly filled with the caustic sent of chemicals. Glados was familiar with chemicals, having dabbled in all areas of science in her time, and having run into most of them while working with Narobi, but even if she hadn’t been familiar with chemicals, she would have recognized the smell in the air as spray paint, and aerosol propellent.
She lifted slowly to her eight standing legs and scuttled quietly into the tunnels.
Her eyesight was as good as any human’s which meant it was shit in the dark, but her sense of smell was good enough to basically map a 3D image of her surroundings almost as strong as sonar. While her human eyes could see nothing, she could sense the tunnels around, her in great detail, up to the point she could just make out the hazy figure in the tunnel ahead, vaguely human shaped as it shed it’s scent, through the picture was difficult to distinguish as more aerosol filled the air
Another thing she could smell.
Fear.
Anyone who had spent any sort of time on Arcadia knew the urban legends that surrounded glados, and anyone stupid to walk into the tunnels uninvited was basically playing russian roulette, except instead of holding a gun to their head, it was the likelyhood of shitting their pants.
She scuttled faster.
The user of the spray can was not very precise in their movements, a couple slashes here, a couple slashes there, a Messy circle witch dripped paint towards the floo, something that Glados was going to have to clean up. She rubles softly in annoyance, but despite its softness, the sound carried up the tunnel, bouncing off the walls.
She saw the figure stiffen, and the fear smell increased
Well
Scaring the piss out of stupid people was one of her favorite passtimes, why deny herself the joy.
She relaxed in her stealth, allowing the scattering rush of her legs to echo up the tunnel.
Whoever it was at least had enough control over their sphincter not to soil themselves, as the spray can clattered to the ground, and the tunnels were field with the sound of running footsteps. Glados didn’t bother to increase her speed, with her nose as good as it was, she was better than a bloodhound.
The vandal would not last long.
The chemical smell grew stronger as she approached the intersection pausing right next to the source.
Glados reached into her toolbelt and pulled out a flashlight, which she switched on and aimed at the wall.
The red paint was still wet, dripping in gentle rivulets down the steel wall and onto the floor.
The symbol, or tag, the artist had left behind was comprised of a large red circle, and two messy letters.
TD
A shiver ran through her body, though she had no idea why it would have such and effect on her. She could still hear retreating footsteps, and listened as the grate to the deep tunnel opened and closed. The interloaper’s smell still lingered.
Their mystery vandal was about to experience real horror.
Glados turned off her flashlight, and followed the smell through the tunnels, quiet and quick and she slipped out into the open night. The maintenance hatch the interloper had used was, a small human sized door, next to the much larger cargo entrance, through which Glados had to pass. The door was an older part of the city, and it didn’t surprise her that the locks had never been checked.
She would have to see to that later.
The cargo entrance and small door lay tucked under a small overpass, upon which Glados could hear the rush of traffic in the night.
Strange plants and fungi grew here letting off dim bioluminescent illumination. A few space jellies floated absently, though for the most part this area of the city was untouched, and mostly unkempt. Plant lie had taken over where it could, and, sniffing the air, she could sense the presence of a nest of Jeffery snakes somewhere in the bushes.
She scuttled past, following under the overpass.
The air here smelled like graffiti, and so there were colorful murals on the walls. Rarely did she see any tags, like the one she had seen in the deep tunnel. Arcadia actively encouraged artistic pursuits, even street art, while gang activity was not tolerated, and could result in exile from the planet’s surface.
But still there was always someone’s annoying kid….
Speaking of which, the smell was still strong, and she followed  silently through the shadows, up the block and into a small, residential suburb, where the night orbs glowed a dim sort of blue. Up ahead she spotted them, the dark figure walking down the center of the road.
The fear smell was still strong, and they looked over their shoulder constantly, but Glados kept to the shadows and they saw nothing.
She hoped briefly that their human instincts would be on fire right about now, sensing hr but not seeing her.
She followed them up the block, until they reached one of the houses. They fumbled with the side door for a long moment before finally managing to open it and scramble inside.
Glados heard the lock click.
She scuttled forward, through backyards and over fences.
Dogs barked in the distance, sensing her presence.
She made it over the last fence hunkering up against the side wall of the house and listened.
She was rewarded.
“I’m not doing it again!” Came a voice.
The person who responded came in distant with a mechanical quality, some kind of long distance call, “Don’t be a baby”
“I heard her.”  The voice said, quivering gently
“Urban legend.” The voice shot back, “Besides, we don’t allow little bitches into the group.”
Glados eased up against the wall.
“I’m not a little bich, but I’m not stupid either, I know whta I heard.”
The voice snorted, “When True Dark says jump you say how high, now stop your moaning, you’re alive aren't you, nothing bad happened.”
There was a pause and she could feel the person shaking their head.
“Good, then this is your first step . I will work on getting a vial to you, but Arcadia’s security network is a real bitch, but until then I have some more jobs for you. Prove your loyalty.” The caller wasn’t that old, maybe in his late teens , and a complete douche to boot, but his words did serve to put lados on edge.
She didn’t like where this was going.
The caller hung up, and the person inside took a deep breath. She could hear the distant breathing sounds of others in the house, their smells heavy with sleep. She may not have known exactly what was going on, but she knew she didn’t like it.
Scuttling closer to the wall, behind which lay her mystery person’s room glados raised up on her rear four legs and rested her other six against the wall.
Time to scare the little bastard straight.
There was a small window in the side of the room, and she was just able to raise herself up high enough to peer inside.
She could see the figure now, sitting on their bed, scrolling through their holofeed.
Perfect.
She set herself up in the window, pulling her gums back to expose her teeth in a terrible grimace. She was primarily a carnivore, so all of her teeth were nice and pointy. She opened her eyes nice and wide, crazy wide, and once she was ready, she rattled her legs against the sie of the house in a sharp scuttling noise,
The person, or teen juped, and turned rapidly towards the window.
The scream was so loud it probably could have shattered glass as they keeled over backwards and scrambled backwards towards the door, screaming, and now crying.
Glados dropped back down rattling her feet against the side of the house a few more times before scuttling away into the bushes cackling herself. Hopefully, a few more encounters like that might scare the little shit straight.
But until then she needed to talk to conn.
Glados didn’t like traveling above ground, but she had her own private entrance into the CI building where she was tasked with doing plenty of engineering work.
Conn was waiting for her when the door opened, likely having sensed her coming.
His expression was surprisingly grim.
“What?” She  asked, knowing he had already shifted through the relevant images in her head.
His dark eyes bored into her, “True Darkness.”
She frowned, “And what is that?”
Conn’s ribbons flared, and he reached up to adjust his tie, absently with long spidery fingers, “Nothing good”

if scu!sonic and boom!sonic universes crossed over, I know one thing:
Boom!Sonic and gang, sans Eggman, fell through a portal and ended up in SCU. Tails’ was the one who picked the signal up, as his tracker said that Sonic was on the move despite Sonic arguing with Maddie that fries were potatoes and thus vegetables.
So Sonic, Tails and Knuckles go to check it out before the ‘rents could say no and while they are all sparkly and awed, the Boom crew are half-assedly planning their revenge on Eggman; Tails is fussing with the remains of ‘My greatest creation, you’ll meet your end, Hedgehog!’. While they do call it that, it is Mgcymyeh for short or Mige for real short -Tails says the full abbreviation along with Knuckles.
After the meet and greet, Scu!Sonic’s phone rings, they pressure him not to pick it up, then Knuckles’ rings and he picks it up instantly. So they gotta get back and are like...do you wanna come? Boom crew is like nah, we like forests better anyway. So the Scu boys leave them and tell Maddie and Tom what’s up and they all plan to return first thing tomorrow morning.
Anyway, when they make it back (a sleepless night turned into a late morning and then the boys didnt wanna get up early so ‘first thing’  was around noonish), they clear the brush, walk into a house, more of a hut but still. Boom!Sonic walks out, yawning with real teenage energy like hey.
“Where’s Tails???”
“idk probably his workshop” Which to Sonic’s defense, he is. He has a computer set up, its all based off his communicator but is clearly too much tech to have been produced from the watch but he insists it is.
Just the idea of walking into a whole-ass village in the forest is so funny to me and Boom 100% has the energy of building a village and all their respective homes overnight despite failing to build ikea furniture. Bc looney tunes logic and rule of comedy, shout out to Rodger Rabbit. They also all slept in until 12 and it isn't specified when they had time to do it but they clearly did, they explain it as both taking forever and a quick set up. Amy’s house has furniture and doilies.
