Ok I genuinely don't see why everyone is being huges jelly beans about the use of AI in multiple different settings. Be it work, art, apps, or anything (Feel free to inform me! Heaven and Hell know I despise being uniformed)
It's not that I necessarily agree with it (it is laying ppl off work. Stealing art- etc), but AI isn't necessarily bad it's literally just being used wrong! You can blame the creators and government for not setting regulations. Ai is not only made to do bad things and to cover the work ppl do, but to take some of the workload off people do. Or can't do.
Is it good?
.................... Questionable.
You can feel stingy about Ai for stealing art, work, and dawned MONEY
But! Seriously try to at least understand why instead of instantly hating the use of AI all together
We often times get SO into a thing we forget to take a step back and really acknowledge the big picture! I do that shit too! and trust me it a lot harder to see you're doing it lest someone taps u asking "yo you good?"
Ai isn't bad but it can be if it's influenced by bad people. And we can be pretty f-ing bad. And not in the cool way.

Zionist.
saying don't fall for scams does not make someone a zionist. tumblr asks are NOT actual calls for aid!
i was just going to delete this ask like i do all scam asks, but i figured id post it just in case other people are getting similar things for... not being gullible? for trying to stop other people from being scammed and sending their money to scammers instead of actual palestinians?
many people in palestine obviously need aid. an obvious bot sending thousands of messages to thousands of people asking for "aid" will not help those people. they aren't from actual victims. they're from random people who are weaponizing the kindness of strangers to make a buck. falling for it helps absolutely no one. critical thinking is even MORE important in a time like this, stop falling for this obvious shit! they're just like the ai porn bots. they're used by the same exact people for the same exact reasons, getting money off those who are gullible. they're scumbags who are weaponizing peoples empathy to make a buck off a genocide. stop. falling. for. it.
they're trying to take advantage of you. they're assuming you're too stupid to think critically about who you think you're helping. stop proving them right.
there are thousands of actual ways to donate to those in need that aren't tumblr ask scams!

Being so self-righteous that you refuse to listen to criticism about scams and believe any liar on the internet doesn't help victims, it just puts money in the pockets of thieves
Your acts of self-righteous wrath is vigilantly stamping out voices crying for justice and stealing money from victims to fill a con man's pocket

Hello sorry for tagging. I am very sick, my asthma is at its maximum level, my nose freezes, I have no medicine or food. I am in bad shape financially, I am a black disabled, who uses multiple medications, I pay for my food and lodging
Unfortunately I do not have all the resources to keep me safe, that is why I need your help, whatever you can contribute to me will be of great help.
Anyone else been getting asks in their inboxes of ppl asking for money? Usually, they leverage living situations or disability tokens to try to evoke a stronger moral response. I've gotten a handful of these lately. Normally, I report the account and move on. This time, however, I took a moment to look at the blog. I feel morally obligated to warn others who have reblogged/interacted/sent money to accounts like these that -
This is very likely a scam.
When you reblog a scam, it adds legitimacy to the scam. Don't do that.
Idk if people are fr sending money or if those claiming they have sent money are also part of the scam to make it seem more legitimate. Hopefully, nobody has actually sent their money and bank account information.
If you take a look at the blog, it seems average at first glance.
Tumblr media
On closer inspection, you will notice that there is a bunch of random shit reblogged with a big fat begging post pinned to the top.
Then, if you open up the archive:

The account has only been active within the last month. In fact, the first post was made only 3 days ago. >.>
I have received asks trying to get me to publish their ask in order to promote/buy their art, music, etc. All of them similar to this ask & this account. I believe people are potentially falling for this and sending money. Scammers are implementing AI to create art and shit to make their claims more credible. Just be weary when receiving ANY request for money, no matter how legitimate it seems.
Do not click any links.
Do not share any information.
Do not send money.
It is highly likely that your identity/bank/credit card information will be stolen. Do not send money to accounts like this!

I mean? They didn't?
Do folks here think that people took the images as photographic representations and are mad that the event didn't reproduce it exactly? Because people who took their children there for some colorful overstimulation and sugar are mad that they got a practically empty hall, undirected "cast members" with garbage scripts and temp workers just as confused as them breaking down in tears as they tried to stretch out completely insufficient supplies to the attending children.
Even with the cheesy assed decorations shown, if there were ENOUGH to make that echoing hall into a twisty tunnel of silly, with actual refreshments and minimally directed people in bright costumes, it would be fine. Maybe not 5 star reviews, but no cops called.
The AI ad generation is just a footnote to the fact that the entire event was a scam from start to finish.
A Willy Wonka pop-up event in Glasgow had attendees calling the police after they paid £35 and the event didn’t deliver what was promised.
Event goers were promised a whimsical adventure all themed around something Willy Wonka might create in his factory.

The keen-eyed amongst you might have noticed something a little bit…wrong.
Imagnation Lab. Encherining Entertainment. Catgacating. Live perforrmances. Cartchy tunes. Exarserdray lollipops. And my favourite “A pasadise of sweets teats”
But what did the event actually look like? WELL.
Feel like the marketing team got a bit carried away.

PAIN. MUCH PAIN. I was so pleased and happy about my new t-shirt. But then I look closer today and it probably is an AI generated image. FUCK. This company’s (spiral direct) generally been good in the past too! And it’s so blatant! Can’t believe how I missed this. URRRGHHHH. GOD FUCKING DAMN IT.

I rarely log onto tumblr from my phone but i just needed to get this out of my system
I was looking up "how to make a blog" to learn how to add one to my website and most of the results are "how to start the most profitable SEOed content farm blog ever" Like- why??
This isn't what blogging was supposed to be about. Blogs are like a diary, a space to write about your life and passions, maybe share knowldge and learn a thing or two
It is amazing to make money from your passions but making a shittier buzzfeed isn't it man..

typing 2 words into a computer and having it spit out fake "art" isn't using technology creatively, and it is immoral because it's a machine stealing from real human artists. anti israels have basic human compassion challenge (impossible)
how is the machine stealing? like i understand that it was trained using datasets of images including ones created by artists who did not consent, but that's not "stealing" unless you think being inspired by color palettes of abstract art you saw at a museum or patterns of vintage wallpaper to be "stealing". it's "copying off" other artists, yes, but so is every single other artist ever. ai is a tool like tablets for digital art are tools or digital cameras for photography are tools. those tools can be used in good or bad ways, but the tool itself is not immoral. strange for you to be caring about immorality while implying that i lack basic human compassion for being anti-israel (the most obviously morally correct stance on israel). you don't care about the "stealing" of land from native people by colonialists, the hundreds being starved, the thousands slaughtered... what happened to that basic human compassion?

I just want to send the message directly to various brains at various companies that using generative AI makes your product look less trustworthy. Like how the fuck am I gonna be interested in your food when all the "photos" are fake? How do I know that suncatcher or dress or blanket is real when you made the ad with generative AI? You can't be trusted, your product can't be trusted, and no matter how well-known you are as a company you immediately look and feel like cheap scammers

Also considering how the voice is a major part of a person's identity I'd argue it's orders of magnitude worse to use AI voice generation than it is to use AI image generation.
It's not just unethical, the kind of fuckery this enables can easily be life-ruining not just for individual people but even up to entire communities.
listen I say this with patience bc some people may genuinely have not thought about this before but if you firmly say “AI art is terribly unethical and steals from artists” (which is correct) but then turn around and use voice AIs to generate songs/voice lines that sound like your favourite voice actors or singers……………………………………that is also AI art and it is also terribly unethical

PSA 🗣️ another scammer using genAI without disclosing it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pixlgirl has been posting generated AI (targeting fandoms) without disclosing it, passing it off as their genuine art and has apparently scammed at least one person into ‘commissioning’ them. this is a public PSA so yall can block them, and not interact. please do not harass them!
it’s incredibly shitty to be disingenuous while posting AI but even shittier to scam people with it 🤢 stay diligent yall

Opinions on those people on YouTube that use I think AI (or at least it don't sound natural) Spongebob character voices over your crow comics?
Every time someone dubs my comics with Ai I am filled with a profound feeling of disgust. A lot of short or comedic comics are reduced to the status of "content", dubbed and reposted by multiple accounts purely to grow accounts for what I assume is ad money, or selling the accounts - once grown - to scammers. And it's difficult for artists to adapt to video as fast while paying voice actors for their work.
Ai is repulsive. And thus, I am repulsed. It's a pretty strong feeling of "EW, NO THANKS". It kind of sucks too since these account fast reposting your stuff means a lot of people have only seen the comics in that context, and it makes the work feel detached from the artists who made them in the first place. -100000 points, straight to satan.
Tumblr media
Edit : also no shade on the SpongeBob voice, it is great for SpongeBob, but in my head the crows have regular voices, not cutesy animal ones. Animal character = cutesy squeakily voices by default always kinda bugged me.

What do you think of ai art?
What I think about AI art is that IT'S NOT art at all. It is a disgusting unethical technology based on the stolen labor of millions of creative people to replace those creative people. Many of them have lost their jobs and incomes, just so that a bunch of rich assholes and scammers can make extra millions. Not to mention that all this requires so much energy that it is leading us to a climate catastrophe even faster. I sincerely wish that everyone involved in this technology, its promotion and use rots in hell forever.

The thing about LLMs is that they're like cars that have a touchscreen on the console; it's more expensive and worse than what came before in almost all circumstances.
And like car touchscreens it's something that I suspect that the vast majority of consumers dislike and would prefer not to use.
But that doesn't mean that touchscreens are bad it just means they don't belong in cars.
It *IS* a massive problem that "AI" is being shoved at us by a bunch of people who invested WAY too much into AI and are trying to make a return on their investment. It is *ALSO* a problem that "AI" is a terrible name for the pattern interpretation tools that tech companies have dumped billions of dollars into so people are being told that a lot of things that are just pretty basic algorithmic tools are "AI," which makes the whole thing feel overhyped, oversold, and useless (which it is for a tremendous number of people!)
But I get really frustrated with claims that AI slop is what ruined google search (google search has been ruined for a long time; when their goal became "people need to do more searches so we can serve them more ads" instead of "we need to return the best results for our users" it was destroyed and that had nothing to do with AI and everything to do with a profit motive) or that AI is why we're being inundated by spammers (spammers have been a problem for a VERY long time) or that it's impossible to find good info these days because the internet is full of garbage AI articles to generate clicks (that has been the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE in terms of research for MUCH LONGER than GPT4 has been around it is called search engine optimization and if you haven't had your results full of poorly written non-information listicles for the last seven years I suspect you haven't been doing quite the same volume of searching as I have been).
These are known problems that are being exacerbated by this particular kind of tool, but the problem with phishing isn't that the emails are extremely tailored to particular users, it's that the world is chock full of scammers who are incentivized to treat people like shit for money.
