To anyone struggling with their mental health this holiday season: read Les miserables by Victor Hugo
it won't help, but at least then you'll know about the sewers

Combeferre had cursed, standing to grab a bedsheet to gather the glass shards, when Enjolras’ eerie stillness stopped him in his tracks.
“SĂ©bastien?” He murmured. “SĂ©bastien, are you hurt?”
Enjolras, still sitting amongst the sharp and sticky mess, lifted his head and stared at Combeferre, his blue eyes wet and rimmed red.
“I
I—” Enjolras choked, his face crumpling. “I’m sorry!”
And he burst into tears.
Or; Enjolras has never drank, not since his disastrous first drink with Combeferre as children. That is, until years later, where Combeferre finds him stumbling back drunk, brimming with emotions left unsaid.

A fic, and accompanying quick sketch, for @logic-and-philosophy week! :3

Grantaire’s solo in drink with me is so beautiful because it immediately shifts the tone to somber and reflective: he loves his friends—and yes especially Enjolras—even though he doesn’t believe in their cause, and he can’t bear to see them making light of their situation at all. It’s a cry for them to do something, even though could they even stop the battle at this point? Is it futile to make them reflect on the possible (probable) irrelevance of their fight and their lives and their deaths? This miserably captures how totally wretched he is at their decision to fight and die, something made even more poignant when it becomes apparent that the people aren’t rising up, yet he is with them, and he is f u r i o u s and burning at the though that they are throwing their lives away. He is horribly sad, too, and interrupting the call for drink and talk of women and fond remembrances (especially as the drunkard who makes light of everything, as cynics as he is) to insult his friends is not emotionally mature or effective but it is so raw and hurt and I just love this characterization of Grantaire

ah yes, the happy soft vibes for the @sillylovesongsfest, you get it...
based on the assigned prompted song Till Forever Falls Apart by Ashe and FINNEAS, as well as this photo shooting
So this is it, that's how it ends I guess there's nothing more romantic than dying with your friends
for an even sadder and bloody version look under the cut <33

People always say that Grantaire woke up and went to die with Enjolras, but no! He didn't! It is worse than that actually! Grantaire had no idea that Enjolras was still alive when he woke up! He was surrounded by his dead friends, broken furniture, blood and complete silence. He didn't leave and save himself, but he also wasn't trying to die with Enjolras. Grantaire got up to find Enjolras' body.

my sis was so excited when I told her that I finally also got obsessed with Les Mis.
"Who's your favorite character?" she asked.
"Welll I love Enjolras and Grantaire but my real fave..."
"Enjolras? Is that the hot one?"
"...Yes?"
"And who is Grantaire???"
"The one who makes fun of Marius when he's rambling about love?"
Sister: ????
Me: Well, anyway, my real love is Combeferre. But I'm also really getting to adore Courfeyrac...
Sis: THOSE ARE MADE UP NAMES.

I have made this post before but to reiterate once again: you can tell how the stress and stakes of the rebellion has put much strain on the already-shaky relationship between Enjolras and Grantaire. Compare the (only!) two times they have shared a proper conversation:
“Grantaire will you do me a service?”
“Anything. I’ll black your boots.”
“Well, don’t meddle with our affairs. Sleep yourself sober from your absinthe.”
“You are an ingrate, Enjolras.”
— LM 4.1.6
“Go and sleep somewhere else,” cried Enjolras.
But Grantaire, still keeping his tender and troubled eyes fixed on him, replied:—
“Let me sleep here,—until I die.”
Enjolras regarded him with disdainful eyes:—
“Grantaire, you are incapable of believing, of thinking, of willing, of living, and of dying.”
Grantaire replied in a grave tone:—
“You will see.”
— LM 4.12.3
Both instances has Enjolras commanding Grantaire to sleep his alcohol off somewhere else, with Grantaire refusing. But the language used is different: the argument is lighter, even teasing in 1.6, while the exchange in 12.3 is harsh, with both sides equally cruel (Grantaire to the women, and Enjolras to Grantaire). A brilliant parallel used by Hugo to show the heightened emotions of the rebellion and, of course, the fated relationship between exR. They are always going to be playing the same game, speaking the same lines— and dying the same death.
