taste- part 2
Tumblr media
"every time you close your eyes and feel his lips, you're feelin' mine" "and every time you breathe his air, just know i was already there" "you can have him if you like, i’ve been there, done that once or twice" "and singin' bout it don't mean i care, yeah, i know i've been known to share"
a/n: the long awaited part 2. tysm for all the love on part 1 !! if you haven't read part 1 yet, you can read it here.
pairings: theodore nott x slytherin fem!reader
warnings/tags: mentions of cheating. pansmione mention.
summary: theo makes his choice.
Tumblr media
theo's gaze lingered on you as you disappeared out of honeydukes, your parting words still echoing in the silence that followed your exit. pansy had been stunned, her smirk wiped clean off her face. now, she stood frozen next to him, her dark eyes darting back and forth between the door and him.
it didn’t take long before her shock morphed into anger. she turned to him, her voice low, almost dangerously soft. "is it true?"
theo shifted uncomfortably, glancing at the shopkeeper who was pretending to be busy counting coins but was clearly eavesdropping. "pansy," he began, unsure how to even start.
"don’t. just tell me the truth." her eyes bore into his. "how long?"
theo opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat. he wanted to explain, to justify, to somehow make it all seem like less than it was, but nothing he could say would change the facts. "since the summer," he admitted finally, his voice barely audible.
pansy’s breath hitched, her eyes widening in disbelief. "the summer," she repeated, the words foreign on her tongue. she took a step toward him, nostrils flaring as she inhaled deeply. her eyes sharpened, realization dawning as she caught the faint, sweet scent that lingered on his clothing.
"god, you even smell like her," she hissed, taking another step closer. "it’s like she’s still here. like i’m breathing the same air as her."
theo clenched his jaw, guilt washing over him. he had never intended to hurt pansy, not like this. his feelings for you had crept up on him, unexpected but undeniable. but pansy had been a part of his life for so long— he had thought he could manage both, keep up appearances with her and still have you. now, he realized how naive that had been.
"how long have you been lying to me?" pansy asked, her voice rising as her emotions took hold. "how long have you been sneaking around behind my back?"
"i wasn’t—" he began, but she cut him off with a bitter laugh.
"since the summer," she spat, shaking her head in disbelief, her face a mix of anger and hurt. "all those times you disappeared, all those excuses— you were with her, weren’t you?"
he couldn’t bring himself to deny it. he nodded, shame settling deep in his chest. "i didn’t mean for it to happen like this, pansy. i never wanted to hurt you."
"funny how that works," she said coldly, taking a step back. "because you did."
without another word, pansy stormed out of the shop, leaving theo standing there, lost in the wreckage of the moment.
it wasn’t long before pansy found you.
she caught you as you were leaving the three broomsticks, the warmth of the tavern replaced by the chill of the autumn air. you barely had time to register the fury on her face before she was in front of you, blocking your path.
"so it’s true," she said, her voice shaking with a mix of anger and disbelief. "you’ve been messing around with theo behind my back."
you stared at her, feeling a deep weariness settle over you. you didn’t want to fight, didn’t want to keep rehashing the same painful truth. "you don’t have to worry about me anymore, pansy," you said quietly. "there’s nothing between us now."
pansy narrowed her eyes. "what are you saying?"
"i’m saying you can have him," you replied, the weight of your own words pressing on your chest. "i don’t care anymore."
for a moment, she just stood there, her expression faltering. and then, something inside her seemed to snap. she let out a breathless, bitter laugh, shaking her head in disbelief. "you don’t care?" she echoed. "you ruined everything, and now you’re just going to walk away?"
you held her gaze, your own emotions swirling just beneath the surface, but you kept your voice steady. "it’s over, pansy. there’s nothing left to fight about."
behind her anger, you could see the confusion and hurt. pansy had always been so sure of her place by his side. to have that shaken so thoroughly, it was clear she didn’t know how to process it.
"this is too much," she muttered, her voice breaking. she glanced back toward the village, her shoulders tense, before turning her eyes to you again. "he’s not worth it," she said, her voice cold, but there was a flicker of something softer underneath. "i’m done with him."
and with that, she walked away, leaving you standing in the street, the wind biting at your skin.
you barely had time to process her departure before you heard the sound of footsteps behind you. you turned just in time to see theo running after you, his face drawn with frustration and worry.
"wait—" he called, but you didn’t stop. you couldn’t. you couldn’t let him pull you back into this mess again.
"theo, don’t," you said, your voice thick with emotion as you quickened your pace, trying to put distance between you and him. "just go."
"i’m not going after her!" he shouted, catching up to you, his hand grabbing your arm to stop you. "please, just listen to me."
you stopped abruptly, pulling your arm from his grasp as you spun to face him. "i won’t be anyone’s secret, theo," you said, your voice trembling with the effort to hold back your tears. "if you want to be with pansy so badly, then go. be with her."
he flinched at your words, hurt flashing in his eyes, but you turned away before you could see any more. you couldn’t handle it. not now. not after everything.
"wait—" theo tried again, but you shook your head, walking faster, not stopping until the distance between you and him was more than just physical.
when you were finally alone, the tears came. you let them fall, letting the weight of everything settle on your shoulders. and in that quiet, in the solitude of the moment, you made a promise to yourself.
you would never let anyone treat you like that again.
the days after the confrontation were strange. theo kept his distance, and for that, you were grateful. but it didn’t stop him from watching you, didn’t stop the furtive glances he sent your way when he thought you weren’t looking.
it wasn’t until a few days later, during charms class, that theo made his next move.
a folded note landed on your desk, sliding across the surface to rest just beneath your hand. you glanced down at it, your heart sinking as you saw theo’s familiar handwriting scrawled across the parchment.
meet me at the astronomy tower? 9 p.m.
you rolled your eyes, crumpling the note in your hand and shoving it into your bag. as if things could be that simple.
after class, theo approached you again, his face full of the same pleading expression you had seen too many times before.
"please," he said softly, stepping in front of you. "just five minutes. that’s all i’m asking."
you stared at him for a long moment, considering his words, weighing the possibilities. against your better judgment, you found yourself nodding. "fine. five minutes."
he looked relieved, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. "thank you."
you said nothing as you walked away, your stomach twisting with anxiety for the conversation that was sure to come.
at nine o’clock, you made your way up to the astronomy tower, your heart beating a little faster with every step. the night was cool, the stars scattered across the sky like distant pinpricks of light. when you reached the top, theo was already there, leaning against the stone railing, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.
he straightened as soon as he saw you, his expression soft, almost vulnerable.
"you came," he said, his voice filled with quiet relief.
"i said i would," you replied shortly, crossing your arms. "you’ve got five minutes."
theo sighed, running a hand through his hair, his eyes darting to the sky before they finally met yours again. "i’ve been a fool,” he started, his voice quiet, almost pained. "i was a fool to think i could be with pansy in public and have you in secret. i want to be with you."
you blinked, taken aback by his sudden admission. "where is this coming from?" you asked cautiously. "why do you suddenly feel this way?"
"it’s not sudden," theo replied, shaking his head. "i've always felt this way. i was just too prideful. too scared to admit it, to myself or to you." he stepped closer, his voice trembling slightly as he continued. "but fuck my pride. fuck everything. i am in love with you."
your breath caught in your throat, the rawness in his words slicing through the defenses you had carefully built up over the last few weeks.
"i’ve tried not to be," theo admitted, his voice thick with emotion. "i’ve tried to do the right thing, to do right by pansy, and by you. but i can't help it. my heart won’t stop wanting you.”
you stood frozen, barely able to process his words as he took another step closer, the intensity in his eyes almost overwhelming. "i’ve been in love with you since the day you tripped and fell on your face right in front of me."
you let out a breathy laugh at the memory, your heart tugging at the unexpected sweetness of it.
theo smiled, his expression softening as he reached for your hand, his fingers brushing against yours. "my love is yours, if you’re willing to take it."
you hesitated, your mind spinning as you tried to sort through the mess of emotions swirling inside you. "i... i am not sure if i am ready yet," you admitted softly, pulling your hand back slightly.
theo nodded, understanding flickering in his eyes. "that’s alright," he said gently. "i can wait. i will wait as long as you need."
there was a quiet, fragile moment between the two of you, the weight of everything that had passed finally beginning to lift. slowly, you felt some of your defenses crumble, your heart opening to the possibility that maybe, just maybe, things could be different.
over the following weeks, you and theo took things slow. there was no more secrecy, no more hiding in shadows or sneaking around. theo kept his promise, giving you the time and space you needed to feel ready. and when the two of you were finally ready to make things public, it was on your terms, with no lingering doubts.
pansy, to your surprise, had been able to reconcile with theo. while their romantic relationship had ended, they were able to find a new sense of friendship. as it turned out, pansy had begun seeing someone new as well— hermione granger, of all people. though unexpected, their relationship seemed to be exactly what pansy needed, and you couldn’t help but be happy for her.
in time, you and theo began to date publicly, and while the journey hadn’t been easy, you knew that what the two of you had was real. the love theo had promised you that night under the stars was yours, and you were finally ready to accept it.

CINDY LOU WHO. cedric diggory
( master list )
IN WHICH… Y/N L/N helps her crush and longtime best friend, Cedric Diggory, get with another girl. Deep down, she knows she’ll never be the bright and bubbly girl Cedric wants. She’ll always be the cunning snake with a knack for starting fights.
“Cindy Lou is bright, bubbly, and extraordinary… she’s everything I’m not.”
A/N: I do take requests so feel free to ask for one :). I mainly write for Maze Runner, Harry Potter, PJO, and Hunger Games
Guess you make him happy like I couldn't do. Cindy Lou Who. With your hair so long, lips so red. Maybe we met once, I forget
Tumblr media
Scrolling five years back, I'm obsessed. Breaking my heart, 'tis the season, I guess. The snow's gonna fall and the tree's gonna glisten. And I'm gonna puke at the thought of you kissin'
“The boy who I love who's now in love with you. Cindy Lou Who.”
Y/N sighed as she impatiently checked her watch and tapped her foot against the stone floor. It was almost curfew and Cedric was still a no show. The rules were less strict now that school was done, but Y/N had a reputation to live up to. It was the least she could do with all the trouble she had caused this year.
“Y/N.” Cedric jogged towards her, looking out of breath. She arched an eyebrow and her gaze scanned his untidy uniform.
“… Do I even want to ask?” She questioned.
“Ah.” Cedric sheepishly smiled, “My friends and I were playing hide and seek. It was a pretty intense game.” Even during his senior years, Cedric was still the bright-eyed kid Y/N had grown up with.
“Right. Well, why did you want to see me? You know how I don’t like going out before curfew.” Y/N folded her arms over her chest, “Plus, you’re late.” She quickly added.
“I know. I’m sorry about that. I just had to grab this.” Cedric pulled out a black box, smiling. He carefully opened it, showing the necklace to Y/N. “Do you recognize the crystal?” He questioned, making Y/N scoff.
“Of course I do. It’s my birth month crystal. (Insert crystal).”
Cedric grinned. “You still know so much more about gems than me. You should’ve been put in Ravenclaw.”
“Oh, please. If I was put there, I would be sleeping in the hallways. I can’t figure out riddles.”
Cedric playfully nudged her with his elbow. “Don’t say that. You’re smart.”
The pair walked beside each other as the moonlight shone through the cracks of the castle. Cedric had slipped the necklace box back into his pocket and he gently cleared his throat.
“I’m going to give the necklace to Cho.” He suddenly blurted out, causing Y/N to pause. She looked over her shoulder at Cedric, wondering if he was joking. He wasn’t.
“Why? She’s your ex.” Y/N felt mildly disappointed that the necklace wasn’t for her. For the longest time, she had been holding onto her feelings for Cedric. Everybody could see it; the Golden trio, the teachers, even Draco’s posse. And yet Cedric had never caught on. She was starting to wonder if he was just messing with her.
“She helped me through a lot. I owe it to her.” Cedric smiled. Y/N gazed at him before she nodded.
“Okay… I’m guessing you want my help?”
“Yes. Please.” Cedric was ready to get on his knees and beg. Though, he was sure Y/N would find great amusement in that. She had always been a little sadistic.
Y/N briefly looked away, blinking away small tears and recollecting her composure so her voice wouldn’t crack. “What do you want me to do?”
edric had wanted to meet Cho at the black late, which was where he and Y/N usually hung out. That stung.
Y/N tied the last of the heart-shaped balloons before securing them to a nearby tree. Cedric was pacing around, wildly muttering under his breath.
“Will you relax?” The Slytherin girl piped up, rolling her eyes. “You’re making me feel nervous.”
“I can’t help it.” Cedric replied. Of course, nobody could help but feel anxious around Cho Chang. She was beautiful and smart and kind. Y/N had talked to her a few times, and if she were a guy or lesbian, Cho would be her crush too.
“Well, that’s the last of the balloons. Good luck, Ced. I’ll be nearby if you need help. Just don’t expect me to hug you if she rejects you.” Y/N playfully punched her friend’s shoulder. Cedric boyishly grinned and quickly embraced her.
For a moment, Y/N was speechless. She slowly hugged him back and awkwardly patted him. She could smell his expensive cologne and it almost felt Cedric was confessing to her instead.
Y/N was the first to pull away. She wished Cedric luck once more before hurrying off, her heart pounding in her chest. She felt envious of Cho. Y/N had been by Cedric’s side since day one. She had comforted him and supported him and hid her breaking heart when Cedric admitted to liking Cho the first time.
And now it was all happening again.
Y/N hid behind a tree just in time to see Cho walk out of Hogwarts and make a beeline for Cedric. She watched as they conversed and when Cedric showed Cho the necklace, she jumped with joy.
Y/N let out a small sigh. She pressed her lips into a thin line, accepting that she wasn’t the girl Cedric would ever go for. She wondered that if they weren’t childhood friends, would Cedric still be nice to her?
She was a Slytherin. A somewhat mean one with a soft spot for certain people. She started too many fights to count, and the threat of expulsion was always hanging over her head.
She wasn’t Cho Chang, who was pretty like the starry night shining above the calm ocean. Cho Chang was kind, sweet, and loving.
Cho Chang was Cindy Lou and Y/N was the Grinch with no room in her heart to change.
The next time Y/N saw Cedric, he was by Cho’s side. Y/N usually sat at the Hufflepuff table with Cedric, much to some people’s dismay, but today Cho was with him.
Y/N didn’t feel welcomed at that point so she sat with her friends, completely missing the way Cedric gazed over at her in confusion.
“Ah, Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang. Everybody’s favorite couple has finally reunited.” Ivy, a pale-skinned girl with light freckles lining her cheeks and soft silver hair grimaced as she sarcastically spoke.
“It’s a shame you never dated Diggory, Y/N. You guys were perfect together.” Hime sighed as she poured herself a cup of pumpkin juice. She offered to fill Y/N’s glass as well, but the H/C-haired girl declined.
“Boys are always stupid.” Evan, short for Evangeline, piped up. “He doesn’t know what he’s missing. I agree with Hime. He should’ve gone for Y/N.”
Y/N silently ate as she listened to her friends complain about Cedric, probably in an attempt to make her feel better.
“Has anybody noticed how he keeps looking over here?” Hime questioned, whispering quietly. “Chang never seems to have his attention for long.”
“I’m telling you, Diggory secretly likes Y/N but he’s scared she’ll reject him. So he’s playing it safe and going for an ex who he knows he had chemistry with.” Ivy retorted, sparing another glance at Cedric.
Y/N huffed in amusement. “Where did you come up with that?” She spoke for the first time.
“It’s obvious.” Evan backed up Ivy’s theory. “When he wins a Quidditch game, who does he run to? You. When he needs help with homework, who does he find? You. When he wants to go to Hogsmeade, who does he immediately ask?”
Evan arched an eyebrow while Y/N sighed.
“Me.”
“Exactly!”
“It’s a plausible theory.” Hime uttered. “You two have been friends for ages. He’s close friends with Hermione Granger too, but does he hug her and look at her like he does to you?”
“That’s probably because she’s younger and he doesn’t want to end up with a sentence.”
“Good point. What about Floral over there?” Hime nodded over at the Ravenclaw girl who was always arranging flowers or reading about them. Her name wasn’t Floral but everyone called her that and it stuck. “You three are all friends, right?”
“More like I was forced to befriend her, but sure.”
“Diggory doesn’t look at her the way he looks at you.”
“And how does he look at me?”
Ivy slammed her hands on the table, looking like she had been waiting years for this question. “He looks at you like Jack Dawson looks at Rose. He looks at you like Chuck Bass looks at Blair Waldorf. He looks at you like Luke looks at Lorelei. Like Morticia and Gomez, Bella and Edward, uh.. give me another one!”
“Percy and Annabeth?” Evan suggested.
“Yes! That’s how he looks at you. He’s giving you the I wouldn’t want anybody else by my side look. He’s probably just… confused. You’re like his Cindy Lou Who. You make him happy and you bring out the best in him.”
“Cindy Lou is bright, bubbly, and extraordinary… she’s everything I’m not.” Y/N gestured over to Cho, who was giggling with Cedric. “Cho Chang is more like Cindy Lou.”
“Cindy Lou Who has a nice ring to it.” Evan said, off topic.
Y/N nodded in agreement. “It does. The rhyme is satisfying.”
“Enough about language features! You have to get your man back, Y/N.” Ivy intensely stared at Y/N, determined to get Cedric and her together.
“He was never mine to begin with.”
“Then make him yours! Come on, Y/N, you’re beautiful- no. Gorgeous. And sure, you have a bitter side but guys who can’t deal getting a little burnt aren’t worth it. And I know that you burnt Diggory over and over again, with both your anger and literal fire.”
“Just so we’re clear, the fire thing was an accident. And I don’t want to force anything onto Cedric. I’ll just… go with the flow.” Y/N ate the last of her food and stood up, “I need to wrap presents. Don’t you dare try and sneak in to see your’s.”
Y/N was mainly referring to Ivy, who lifted her hands in surrender.
Again, Y/N failed to notice how Cedric’s eyes trailed to her. But Cho saw it.
“Cedric.” The raven-haired beautify tugged on his sleeve, “Can we talk?” She spared Cedric’s friends a look. “Alone?”
“Uh, yeah, sure.”
The pair walked off, fully aware of how Y/N’s friends were watching them closely.
“What did you want to talk about?” Cedric questioned, tilting his head to the side.
“I don’t want to assume anything, Cedric. But to me, it seems like you only confessed to me again to play it safe. I can tell that your true feelings don’t lie with me.” Cho glanced at Y/N, who exited a nearby bathroom and was too busy drying her hands to notice the couple. “They lie with her.”
Cedric followed Cho’s gaze, softly staring at Y/N with that damned look of adoration.
“I think someone else deserves this necklace.” Cho gently removed the jewellery, handing it over to Cedric. “Face it, you love her. You always have. You can’t try to love me, Cedric, not when Y/N exists.”
“She doesn’t like me back.” Cedric muttered, grasping the necklace.
“Are you sure?” Cho quirked an eyebrow. “Why do you think she stayed by your side for so long? Even when the other Slytherins teased her, even when you two argued, even when you kissed me in front of her. How could you not notice, Cedric? She brings you drinks after quidditch practice and buys you gifts and even stays at Hogwarts so you aren’t lonely. Why do you think she never dated anybody, Cedric? It’s because you were the one she wanted.”
Cedric shook his head. “No. She doesn’t like me. Y/N is smart and amazing and cunning. I’m not her type. Her type would be someone like…” He paused, thinking, “Matteo Riddle.”
Cho sighed as she shook her head. “You really have no idea, do you? Spend more time with Y/N and hopefully you’ll notice the things the rest of us do.”
She quietly walked off, leaving Cedric standing outside the Great Hall. Cho made an immediate beeline for Ivy, Evan, and Hime and sat in Y/N’s spot.
The trio clad in green glanced at her, confused and a little hostile.
“Cedric likes Y/N.” Cho quickly uttered so the group didn’t explode on her. “I got through to him but he thinks Y/N doesn’t like him back.”
“Thats bullshit. It’s so obvious!” Ivy groaned.
“Exactly.” Evan agreed, “But Y/N doesn’t think Cedric likes her either.”
Cho sighed. “It’s obvious they have mutual feelings but neither of them believe it. So, let’s force them to confess.”
Hime raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you like Cedric? Why are you willing to help us?”
“Despite our dating history, Cedric is still my friend. And I want to help him in any way I can.” Cho smiled.
“Oh, I have an idea!” Ivy exclaimed, “What if we get them under the mistletoe? But instead, they have to fight! We can call it mistlefoe!”
Cho, Hime, and Evan exchanged looks.
“I think we should just stick to mistletoe.” Cho uttered. “We could, uh, surprise them by decorating one of their common rooms? The Slytherin room is never decorated, right?”
“I wish it was.” Evan sighed, “It’s a cute idea. We could surprise Y/N by decorating the common room and then led her in and Cedric can be standing in the middle of the room under the mistletoe.”
“But to pull that off, we’ll need more help.” Hime added, “I don’t think four people can do that. And it’s only us in the Slytherin common room. Not even Matteo is here. So he can’t help.”
Cho glanced past Hime and Ivy, staring at the Golden Trio and their extended group of friends. She smiled. “I have an idea. But it’s going to involve working with Gryffindors.”
The group of Slytherins all glanced at each other before they shrugged in unison.
“Anything for Y/N.”
“Whatever.”
“Do I get to kiss Oliver Wood after Diggory and Y/N kiss?”
Cho, Evan, and Hime stared at Ivy, who only cheekily grinned.
“Um… I’m not sure about that last one. Let’s just start off with asking the Gryffindors first.” Cho sheepishly smiled.
“Ivy and I will get the decorations.” Hime offered, “There’s some extra ones in the basement if Hogwarts too. Evan, Chang, you can get those after you ask the Gryffindors.”
“Call me Cho.” The ravenette smiled before she stood up. “We don’t have much time. Let’s hurry.”
“Wait, we forgot something.” Ivy piped up, “Who’s going to distract Y/N?”
“Evan can distract L/N. I’ll ask the Gryffindors myself and if they accept, they can help me get the decorations from the basement.”
“Okay.” Hime looked around, slowly nodding. She smiled. “Let’s go.”
Cho approached the red table while Hime and Ivy hurried towards Hogsmeade and Evan rushed off to find Y/N.
It took a few hours for everything to be set up, but finally the Slytherin room was decorated and ready.
“I need to get something. I’ll be back.” Evan smiled, lying through her teeth. She watched as Y/N entered the Slytherin common room and rushed off to find her friends.
Y/N squinted her eyes as she walked into the dark room. “Huh? Ivy? Hime? You here? What did you do to the lights?” Nobody answered her. She tilted her head to the side, confused.
The lights suddenly turned on, along with multiple Christmas LED lights. She quietly gasped as she stared at the tinsel covered stairs and brightly decorated tree.
In all her years at Hogwarts, the common room had never been decorated. Slytherins weren’t exactly big on Christmas.
Y/N looked around, realizing she wasn’t alone. “Cedric?” She stared at the brunette boy. “What are you doing here? Have you seen Ivy or Hime? I can’t seem to find them anywhere.”
Cedric silently looked up. Y/N, puzzled, followed his gaze. She lifted her head, staring up at the floating mistletoe above her head. “Oh.” She whispered.
She looked at Cedric again, jumping when he was only a foot away.
“I’m sorry if I ever hurt you, Y/N.” He uttered, “I should’ve noticed.”
“Noticed what?”
Cedric didn’t say anything as he leaned forward to softly kiss her. Y/N froze, her heart almost leaping out of her chest.
“Y/N,” Cedric pulled away and brushed a strand of loose hair aside, “You’ll always be my Cindy Lou.”

[halloween special, 2.8 words]
lie to girls | sirius black
the first time she’d seen sirius black, it was as though her world sharpened around him. the first year gryffindors were mixed into her class with the rest of the ravenclaws and there he was, just a boy in the back of transfiguration, head thrown back in laughter as he huddled with his friends, facing away from professor mcgonagall. he moved with a casual elegance that looked effortless, as if he was simply born knowing how to take up a room and make it his. and from the moment she saw him, her heart picked up its own rhythm, matching the pull he had over her head.
the next time would be in hogsmeade on a chilled sunday afternoon. from a distance, she watched him then, and the desire that rose in her was nearly painful, visceral, something she hadn’t felt before. he was a paradox of rebellion and charm, his manner both enticing and dangerous in the same breath. it was a heady kind of longing, the way she felt herself gravitate toward him even as she stayed rooted in place. he simply wasn’t someone you could approach. sirius black was the kind of boy people waited for, the kind they longed for, knowing he could break their hearts with a smile.
she told herself it was just curiosity at first, just fascination with the way his presence seemed to cast shadows and light in equal measure. he was quick with laughter, but his eyes held a darkness she wanted to understand, a mystery that felt like it held the secrets of a thousand lifetimes. everyone else around him seemed bewitched, but none with the same hunger she felt for him—an intense, electric want that she hadn’t known she was capable of feeling.
on a particular february night, the castle was steeped in an unusual quiet, the kind that made the halls and staircases feel almost secretive. her prefect rounds had been dull, with only the crackling torches and her own footsteps for company. something in the chilly air—a restless thrill—had urged her to climb the winding stairs to the astronomy tower, an impulse she couldn’t quite explain.
as she reached the top, she found him there. sirius black sat perched against the edge, his silhouette stark against the star-lit sky, dark hair tossed by the wind. And of course, she knew he wasn’t allowed out of his room at this time of night—let alone gryffindor tower—yet she couldn't find the words to send him back. even more, he looked uncharacteristically subdued, his eyes distant and fixed on the sky. there was something so vulnerable about the way his eyes glided across the stars. something so human. something so kind.
again, a part of her thought she ought to send him back to bed, but the sight of him, cloaked in moonlight with that rare, unguarded expression, stopped her. maybe it was the slack in his posture or the stillness of the night itself, but something about that moment convinced her it would be a good idea to sit with him. so she did.
“patrol?” he asked, his voice soft but clear as she settled beside him.
she nodded, tucking her robes closer to block the chill. “and you? don’t tell me james quit.”
he flashed her a grin, that familiar spark of trouble glinting in his eyes. “not quite,” he said, shrugging, though his gaze never left hers. “couldn’t sleep. thought i’d find something worth watching.” he leaned back, his gaze flickering briefly to the sky before meeting hers again. “though, i might’ve just found it,” he whispered, so quietly she could have sworn it was only a trick of the wind or a figment of some half-dream stirred up by that pull she’s felt since their first year.
after that night, the two only seemed to grow closer. what had once been fleeting exchanges between classes grew into conversations that stretched long past curfew, their voices mingling in whispered confidences neither would ever admit to in daylight. only the walls of the astronomy tower bore silent witness to their growing fondness, to secrets exchanged under starlight and half-formed wishes that faded with the dawn. with each encounter, she found herself left with a new piece of him, but somehow, it was never enough. every moment they spent together only left her wanting more, craving the answers to the questions he kept locked away behind that easy, charming smile.
but she was patient. she kept her distance, watching, wanting, her heart caught in a quiet wait. she knew he’d love her eventually. and when he finally did, laughing a little too hard at her smallest jokes, eyes lingering on her with a warmth she could never dream up, she felt the whole world tilt, as if he’d cast a silent spell, binding her to him in a way she would never escape.
but now, sitting across from him in a quiet muggle café, the thrill was harder to find. she watched him from beneath lowered lashes, studying the way he fidgeted with the sugar packets, occasionally glancing up and offering a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. that’s normal, she’d insist.
“i’m sorry i missed dinner last week,” he said rather sheepishly, as if he hadn’t missed each one in the past week. sirius’ eyes flickering between his hands on the table and the hint of grief in her eyes. “things got... complicated.”
she nodded, pushing down the twinge of disappointment. she was smart enough to know it was more than that. “i understand,” she replied, though her heart whispered questions she refused to voice. he was here now, wasn’t he? and that should be enough. it had to be enough.
he looked up at her, his gaze warm, but as she tried to meet his eyes, he seemed to falter, focusing instead on his coffee. a pang of uncertainty twisted inside her, and she wondered—just for a moment—if he was holding something back. he would tell me, she thought, though she’d never heard such confidence in something she was so uncertain about. she forced herself to look away, reminding herself of the boy she’d known since hogwarts. her first love. that carefree, wild-hearted sirius who had made her believe in a version of love that could withstand much of anything.
the days stretched on, slipping into weeks since the last time she’d properly seen her sirius with only occasional letters flying through her windows. each time she told herself it would be enough—that he’d made time for her, that he cared, even if he couldn’t always show it. But she’d last seen him mid-september, and it was already nearly halloween. she reminded herself of all the reasons she’d fallen for him, all the glimpses of the man before lonely nights and empty beds, and bent her truths to match the love she held for him.
it was a crisp afternoon when she finally saw him again. the autumn leaves crackled beneath their feet as they strolled through an overgrown garden near the edge of town, the golden hues a reminder of the time they’d let slip by. he looked tired, shadows etched beneath his eyes, and she found herself resisting the urge to reach out, afraid he’d turn away.
“you look... tired,” she said, her voice soft with concern.
he chuckled, brushing it off with that familiar smirk. “long nights, you know how it is.”
“do i?” she pressed, searching his gaze. he laughed, but it didn’t quite ring true, and he glanced away, shoving his hands into his pockets. “you haven’t been home in weeks, sirius…” he spares no answer.
“you’re too good for this, you know?” he said suddenly, and there was something in his voice she couldn’t place. her heart clenched, an echo of her own fears mirrored back at her.
“oh, don’t say that,” she whispered, reaching out to brush his arm. “i’m right where i want to be.”
then he looked at her, his expression unreadable, and she felt the weight of a truth hanging heavy between them, unspoken. maybe she wanted him to argue, to tell her that he felt the same, that he was right where he wanted to be too. but he only gave her a sad, knowing smile that sent cracks through her carefully held illusions.
she looked at him, brow furrowed, feeling that familiar worry settle in her chest. “how’s… how’s harry?” she asked, her tone soft, her eyes watching for the shift she knew would come.
sirius’ face lit up, and for a moment, all that weariness seemed to be left and forgotten. “harry’s brilliant,” he said, a real smile breaking through. “james says he’s trying to talk now—mostly babbling, but you should hear it, darling. the kid’s got lungs.”
she found herself smiling, warmth blooming at the sight of his joy. it was almost magical how just the mention of his godson could bring him back to life. but a pang of jealousy couldn't help but twist inside her, unexpected and uncomfortable. sirius could light up at the slight mention of the child, yet somehow he couldn’t even bring himself to come home, to their shared life, for more than these fleeting moments. but the guilt of it—feeling that pang in the face of everything he was carrying—only left her aching and frustrated.
instead, she forced herself to focus on the way his grin left small wrinkles by his eyes, nodding along as he told stories of harry’s latest antics. he looked lighter somehow, talking about the infant’s laugh, james’s silly impressions, lily’s latest frustrations with their son’s constant wiggles. she watched him, studying the way his eyes softened with each memory, even as she felt a familiar longing take root. for weeks now, she’d felt him slipping away, held back by something he couldn’t—or wouldn’t—talk about. every letter had only deepened the gap, and now, with him right here in front of her, she still felt that distance, thick and unspoken. and though she’d never admit it, as he spoke, it was painfully clear that all he could possibly want was a family—a life that was bigger than the two of them. and she simply wasn’t sure if that was something she could provide.
“do you miss it? home?” the words slipped out before she could stop them, and for a moment, she regretted it, watching his face for a hint of his response.
his smile faltered just slightly, then he caught it, masking it behind a veil of sincerity. “you know i do. just… so much to keep an eye on, yeah?”
she nodded, the answer feeling thin, the ache of it lingering. “of course,” she whispered, hoping he wouldn’t hear the sting in her voice. she wanted him to see that she understood, that she knew he was dealing with something, but a part of her wanted him to feel her hurt too. weeks without him had left her feeling almost invisible, but asking for anything more felt selfish. she could wait, she thought. she has done it before.
still, she wished she could reach him, even if only for a second. he could be so close and yet feel miles away, and the urge to ask—to demand he let her in—warred with her instinct to let him keep his secrets. he must’ve been protecting her. maybe he simply didn’t want her to see the weight he carried. but merlin, did it hurt to feel so helpless beside him.
before she could lose herself too much in the thoughts, she felt his hand slip on to her waist, squeezing gently. she blinked, startled out of her reverie, and looked up to find him watching her, his gaze softer than she’d seen in a long while.
“i’m here now, aren’t i?” he said, voice quiet, almost uncertain, as though he feared that it would never be enough.
“yes,” she murmured, a small, strained smile surfacing. she forced herself to hold onto that single word like a lifeline. she felt her pulse steady under his touch, her breathing slow just a little, and she tried to take comfort in his presence, even if it was fleeting.
they stood like that for a while, the unspoken things hanging in the air around them. it wasn’t everything she wanted, and it wasn’t the full return she craved, but for now, it was enough.
that night, there was a knock at the door that came rather unexpectedly. when she opened the door and saw him standing there, bundled against the night chill, her heart leaped. he offered her a lopsided smile, his eyes carrying that familiar warmth that always seemed to melt away her doubts, at least for a while.
“thought i’d surprise you,” he said, holding up a small bouquet of half-wilted flowers as a peace offering. she laughed, pulling him inside, and they spent the evening in a cosy blur of shared laughter and soft touches. the world outside seemed to vanish, leaving only the two of them, wrapped up in their own quiet happiness with only the four walls of their flat to bear witness.
later, they lay in bed, her head resting on his chest, tracing lazy circles on his skin as she rambled on about a random thing she read that morning. he held her close, his hand brushing through her hair in gentle strokes. in that moment, everything felt complete, as if they were suspended in time, untouchable by the fears that usually lingered between them.
“stay,” she whispered, eyes heavy with sleep and a hope she knew she shouldn’t hold on too tightly.
he pressed a kiss to the top of her head, his hand stilling in her hair. “for as long as i can,” he replied softly, though she felt his words sink into her like stones, each one carrying a weight she didn’t want to face. but she closed her eyes, letting his warmth lull her back into the illusion that this could be enough.
the next morning, she woke up alone. the space beside her was empty, his warmth already fading, and though she told herself not to worry, that he’d left to do whatever the order had asked of him, a lingering dread settled in her chest.
several days passed without a word. she tried to go about her life, but the silence gnawed at her, each hour feeling heavier than the last. but the lack of an owl by her window after each passing evening left her feeling sick. what felt worse was that she’d spent her halloween in bed, alone with the memory of his warmth.
then, one evening, she flicked on her muggle television, hoping for a distraction. the flickering screen settled on a breaking news story: the murder of a young couple, identified as james and lily potter. the anchor’s voice sounded distant, hollow, as they spoke of sirius black, now named as the prime suspect, accused of betraying his closest friends.
she froze, her mind going blank as she watched the images flash on the screen. lily’s face, laughing and full of life; james, his grin bright and full of nothing less than joy. and then, sirius, captured in a haunting black-and-white photo, his face hardened and unreadable, the look of a man she barely recognized.
then an owl came.
she stumbled to her window, frantically reaching for the latest on the daily prophet. there, in bold letters across the front page, was his name, branded with accusations and whispers of betrayal.
her heart hammered as she scanned the page, each line chipping away at her defences, tearing down the walls she’d built to protect her fragile hope. it didn’t make sense. none of it made any sense.
she sank to the floor, clutching the paper as her mind replayed their last moments together—the way he had looked at her, his reluctance to stay, the things he had left unsaid. and she realised, with a cold clarity, that this must have been what he’d been hiding all along. the uneasy glances, the sad smiles, the way he couldn’t quite meet her eyes.
it had all been there, plain and clear, but she had lied to herself, bending his truth into something far more digestible. she had convinced herself that the man could do no wrong, that he would always come back to her, that they had a future worth waiting for. and to be fairly honest, that was still what she hoped for.
but now, with the truth laid bare before her, she couldn’t pretend anymore. he was gone, taken from her by choices he’d made and secrets he’d carried, and she was left with nothing but the hollow ache of loss.
in her mind, the news made perfect sense and yet felt utterly impossible. there was no way in hell that sirius—her sirius—could do such a thing to a family he loved more than their own. she couldn’t reconcile the words she was reading with the feelings she’d felt only nights before. and now, she simply didn’t know what to believe anymore.
when i said this was roughly inspired by lie to girls i meant roughly roughly. this is also not proofed lol.
tell me if you wanna be on my hp tag list :))

Tumblr media
It had been a couple of weeks since you and Draco had broken up. You had to face Mattheo which was easier than expected.
Think I only want one person in my dorm. I might change your nickname to don't leave me alone. Said you like my eyes and you like to make em roll. Treat me like a queen now you got me feeling thrown. Those were the words that clouded your mind as you saw the love of your life.
Who could you possibly be talking about? The answer stood right in front of you. Mattheo Riddle. You'd liked him since forever. Well, since you'd known him which was after you started dating Draco. And to your delight, HE asked YOU out a week ago because Draco told him you liked him. Crazy, right? Here you thought you'd have to make the first move.
I guess he liked you just as much as you liked him. However, one think he didn't like was PDA.
But he was so hot and you couldn't help yourself, when he got close to you. And so he was forced to partake in any public display of affection and he grew to not mind it as much. It was you, after all. And he'd do anything for you.
Your tongue went numb around him, and made you sound like a complete idiot constantly making it sound like you were saying unintelligible words such as bleh blah blee.
You didn't want no one else, you were in too deep.
"Here's a lil letter I wrote. It's about you and me." You handed him a love letter, your cheeks the deepest shade of crimson.
He smiled, like a full one, which was a rare occasion. Usually he settled for subtle smiles. So subtle, you couldn't be sure if it was a smile.
Inside the letter the following words were written:
I'll be honest. Looking at you got me thinking nonsense. Cartwheels in my stomach when you walk in. And when you got your arms around me, oh, it feels so good I had to skip a passage because otherwise this letter would be too long. I think I got an ex but I forgot him. And I can't find my chill, I must have lost it. I don't even know I'm talking nonsense. I'm talking all around the clock, I'm talking hope nobody knocks, I'm talking opposite of soft, I'm talking wild wild thoughts.
Love
Your princess,
Y/n
Mattheo laughed as he shook his head. "You didn't have to write it down! I already know I'm irresistible."
"you've gotta keep up with me, I've got some young energy. I caught the L-O-V-E, how do you do this to me?"
"Do what love?" Mattheo asked.
"around you I get butterflies. But I can't help myself when I get close to you. Baby my tongue goes numb. Sounds like bleh blah blee. I don't want no one else. Baby I'm in too deep."
He kisses your lips and hands you a letter.
"Here's a lil letter I wrote, it's about you and me." He says grinning as you open the letter.
And surely enough the letter had the following words written:
I'll be honest. Looking at you got me thinking nonsense. Cartwheels in my stomach when you walk in. And when you got your arms around me, oh, it feels so good I had to skip a passage because I don't want to keep you too long. I think I got an ex but I forgot him. And I can't find my chill, I must have lost it. I don't even know I'm talking nonsense.
Love,
Someone who you don't want to leave you alone,
Mattheo Riddle.
"This love catchier than chickenpox is. I think your dorm is where my other sock is. Woke up this morning, thought I'd write you a letter. Wanna take a quiz?" You asked
"Sure. What about?" Mattheo questioned.
"how quickly can you take your clothes off pop quiz." You chuckled.
"You're adorable, you know that?" Mattheo said as he kissed your cheek.
゚+*:;;:* *:;;:*+゚゚+*:;;:* *:;;:*+゚゚+*:;;:* *:;;:*+゚゚+*:;;:*
A/n: hope you like it as much as I did writing it! It's kinda short! Request again anytime love 💗 again I am super sorry for the wait !

Ugh I love writing fics. I literally write words down and make up something original that’s never been written before. It’s crazy actually!
Like I can make up this whole scenario of these two random people and everyone on here just reads it and enjoys it like I’m an author or something.
That’s something I’ll never get over. How our minds work in that way that can create such things. Things so out of nowhere and unique. How we can take something and make it our own, create our own universe. The endless possibilities there are to write!
Anyways back to making shit up. 🫡
