I'm too lazy to go back to watch the recording and annoy myself all over again lmao but essentially Kristian noticed someone in the chat say they had a question but they dare not ask, and said that normally he doesn't take questions from the chat but he was desperate to know what that question was. So people started tagging the person to get their attention and they came back with this SUPER appropriate and not at all embarrassing question.

8: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Caitlin did not “kiss back” in 1x19 due to romantic feelings, she was being assaulted and was forced into both kisses. Using it as shipping fuel is disgusting—you can make ship content without it, I promise. Plenty of fanon ships manage just fine

Same for the KF/Barry kiss. Killer Frost was literally trying to kill Barry! She uses this same trick to kill a guy in s2—it’s literally her MO as a character (even as far back as the comics, which is literally where she comes from)! I don’t see that used as often for shipping fuel, but I still see it enough to be annoyed by it

9: worst part of canon

…you know, between the Forces arc, the Godspeed arc, the Cobalt Blue arc, the Negative arc in s8, and the whole plotline with Khione and Chillame (also Frost/Blaine in general tbh), it’s hard to choose. I think the Forces arc takes the cake, but man, there’s so much about s7-s9 to hate

(honorable mention goes to the Mirrorverse arc for having Barry be canonically raped, as confirmed by Mirror Iris’s gloating (“sharing your bed”), and then 5 minutes later having Barry cradle his rapist in his arms and sympathize with her. While also encouraging us to sympathize with her. And then never mentioning the rape again)

10: worst part of fanon

The fact that hating on Iris and wishing death on her, in tandem with shipping Barry with a white woman (no seriously, the Iris hate always goes in tandem with “it should’ve been Caitlin/Kara/Patty” + “Savitar should’ve finished the job*”) is such a common fandom opinion that you are incredibly likely to find it outside of Tumblr even in a video that doesn’t even have Iris in it…so frustrating. You have to look to find Westallen shippers and carve out a niche…and you have to weigh “can I trust this Flash clip to have normal comments?” (The answer is usually no). It seriously pisses me off (I've found one channel that reliably does not have Iris hate in their comments, but...*sigh* those comments have their own problems)

Also, even some SB shippers who don't outright hate Iris still have such a microaggressive way of talking about her. Calling Iris “annoying” while saying Caitlin is perfect, criticizing Iris and then laughing it off as a joke, saying she’s a “strong independent woman who doesn't need a man”...ugh. Saying that about a WOC is not as progressive as y’all seem to think (it plays into the Strong Black Woman trope, actually)! Say it about Caitlin more—girl kept getting trapped in mediocre (post-Ronnie) love stories until Danielle Panabaker had to put her foot down in s5 and say no. Oh, but y’all don’t wanna say “she doesn't need a man” about her? Interesting...

Also, on that note, I guarantee that if Caitlin had been the one to say “you are not the Flash, Barry. We are”, it would be incredibly beloved as a line. Even in canon with them not being an actual couple, I’m sure that line still would’ve been used as “proof” for the ship (and if Caitlin were in Iris’s place, married to Barry? No one would’ve dared question her right to say that, even the people who wrongly mock Iris for it!)

*usually if I deign to respond to comments like those, I like to remind them that Iris shot Savitar with a normal gun, and that killed him. He got erased after being shot by a normal gun. And that's after he literally melted at Iris’s touch! He wasn't gonna kill her after that 😂

Season 1: I would probably tweak a bit in Episode 4? Crawford feel a bit filler to me, especially with how empty and dead it is. While I was fine with that, I kinda would've liked some life to be around maybe, see how Molly reacts, etc. Also, I probably would've made Chuck surviving in Episode 3 determinant. Feels like he gets thrown under the bus,

Season 2: The easy answer is Luke vs Kenny, but for me, I think the Howe's conflict should've been a little more... important? I don't know, it feels like Episode 3 is way too fast. Carver's arc is solid, but they just ditch him and go ahead with making Kenny look like a crazy person.

Season 3: A LOT. First of all, Kate romance should be reliant on your actions. If you start moving away from her, that's it. Stop forcing it on the player, please. Javi is way more important to the story than just picking between Kate and David. I also probably would've made the New Frontier a more sadistic and harsh group, again, sometimes it just feels like a 'Everyone Hates Clem' club, even though she steals from them and people just choose to ignore it.

Season 4: I don't know? Probably providing Lilly's reasonings and lore public to create context as to why she became such a tyrant. It's a real swing out of nowhere to just see her after 8 years and have to hate her for no reason lmao.

A totally different vibe from Pusher, but still wonderful. A quintessential Darin Morgan comedic episode, and every joke in here just hits so hard. (Plus Scully saves Mulder - anyone who’s been around here long enough will know I’m a sucker for that).

Anyone who’s been on this blog longer than 2 seconds should know that this is my favorite episode (it may be tied with another now, but for the moment it still holds the title). I just have so much love for it, as the show’s first episode that really dove into the trauma that Mulder and Scully had acquired since the show started, as a really scary episode with a human villain (the human villains are always my favorites), and of course, as a character piece for Scully. Every expression and every word she says here tells us so much about her, her fears, the emotional walls she builds up and what it takes to tear them down. The ending scene is absolutely fantastic (it might be my favorite scene in the show - I’ll have to think on it), and I rewatch it almost weekly.

Also: considering that I’m semi-known on here for my rants about the excess of Scully kidnappings, it says a lot that this is still my favorite.

I adore this one. Once again, Gillian Anderson acts and I cry. Every scene she has in here is so good, rich with fear and tragedy. David Duchovny’s performance in this is also stellar - I love the quiet yet intense grief he carried throughout. Of course, I love the scene in the house with Maggie - so sweet🥹

My only complaint about this one is the pacing - the emotional climax (being the scene in the house) happens way before the end of the episode, and then we get all the stuff with Mulder and X, which is good, but feels like missing scenes from Talitha Cumi tacked in here.

But I still love this one:)

💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?

Ooooh my most unpopular opinion is probably the Wilhelm decided to give up the crown for himself. (Don't hate me 🙈)

I actually think they laid the foundations for this well but it jumped from from foundation to roof with no walls supporting it in between. We have multiple moments of Wille demonstrating lack of control and opinion on his own life (no tattoos, his hair*, charity selection picked out for him etc). It never occurs to him he can give up rowing until Simon suggests it and when he does, he takes up singing, which he doesn't like, to hear Simon sing (I won't lie I fucking melted at this tho it was so cute). But outside of Simon, Wille doesn't know what he wants and doesn't show much interest in figuring it out. All he wants is Simon and he centers his life around this.

I know many will say giving up his role is the first step in learning about himself and what he wants but that already happened in S2. In S2 he was already prepared to give up the crown for Simon so S3 should have continued to develop on him learning about himself, understanding his privilege and what he actually wants from life outside Simon. The letter to your future self was a missed opportunity imo.

*bonus unpopular (or silly) opinion is this line annoys me an unreasonable amount cause it's just not true. He says he can't cut his hair shorter than this but we literally see Erik with shorter hair?? and Wilhelm would have had to cut it shorter when he joined the military?? Like all they had to say was something like same reason I can't dye my hair weird colours! Why did they choose a line that's simply not true??

4. Their favorite show to watch together? 

Simon 100% watches anime. My knowledge of anime is next to nothing but I feel like he likes Deathnote, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, etc. I think Wille prefers teen dramas (he got a taste for them from Felice/ the girls) and docuseries, because he's hungry to learn more about the world around him. I think together they probably watch whatever anime Simon is into and nature documentaries because they're both kinda big nerds?! Oh, and Avatar.

5. Who is the cheesier one of the two? 

Sorry but Wille. I feel like I see this pretty much confirmed everywhere, from canon to fic. That boy knows how lucky he is and takes every opportunity to show it.

34. How do they cheer one another up during sad times?

I agree with the consensus that it's physical (lol) however I'll try to say some new things. Wille seems to want to talk it out, and Simon has demonstrated that he shows care by listening, asking questions, and offering support. I imagine he learned these skills from living with Linda and Sara. Sometimes when Wille's sadness turns to big anger (like once a year) they'll go to the junkyard and smash a bunch of shit, then go make out. Yeah. 

Simon seems to go within when he's sad, so Wille tries really hard to stop him from spiraling and get him out of his head until he's ready to talk. He'll plan little excursions, like a walk in the park, or get Simon to dance with him in their living room, anything to show him that it's not all bad. Wille also tries to make him laugh. I envision a lot of tickling. He knows not to rush Simon, who will share when he feels safe and ready. 

35. What are their tastes in music? 

I've thought about this one quite extensively. 

So I think Simon inherited a bunch of Micke's taste, because we know Micke exposed him to music and took him to concerts as we see in canon. I imagine it's a good mix of 80's and 90's rock, things like Nirvana and maybe some Swedish bands (like Kent, thank you Wilma @nothingadoaboutnothing ;)) 

As for contemporary music, I feel like Simon likes indie rock, some of it more underground, some more standard like the Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, etc. I see him listening to Lizzy McAlpine and Sufjan to cry and get his feelings out. I also feel like he likes Lady Gaga, perhaps a mix of her vocals and aesthetic. 

Wille likes rap and EDM as we saw in YR. However, much like the TV show thing, I think Felice and company have definitely awakened some love for queer pop / hyperpop in him. I see a burgeoning Charli / Chappel fan. Maybe this is just wishful thinking but I see it. Simon 100% makes fun of him (but definitely doesn't complain when he puts it on). 

Bonus / free question: 

39. Do they get along with each other's family? 

I want to say I'm hopeful on this one. Simon seemed to do fine with Kristina and Ludvig, although I'm sure there's going to be plenty more awkwardness and discomfort now that Wille has stepped down. Overall I think they're pleasant towards each other with occasional moments of connection. 

I think Wille is very invested in getting to know Sara, Linda, and possibly Micke. Post S3, I think he starts to form a closer bond with Sara; I'd like to think she becomes like another sibling now that he doesn't have Erik anymore. Wille tries hard with Linda in the beginning, and eventually realizes that all she wants is for him to treat Simon well and be happy, which for him is easier than ever. Perhaps Wille is the bridge towards a better relationship with Micke - he understands shitty family dynamics and is neutral where everyone else is scarred, so maybe he can help them be in each other's lives again in small ways. Like I said, wishful thinking.

I think Simon actually pushes for Wille to spend time with Wille's parents more, because Wille definitely prefers holidays at the Erikssons. S3 made me feel very hopeful about both fronts.

I didn’t much like the way they made her a hero. She never apologized to Iris for being an accessory to her murder and yet the show just. Makes Iris act overly apologetic and accommodating to her. I wish they’d truly made her reckon with the aftermath of what she did—not in a drawn-out, painful way, but like…her apologizing to everyone she hurt personally, maybe dealing with Central City initially not trusting her and having to earn their trust. Idk. Something like that

They were initially going for them being the same in s3, and I wish they’d stuck with that angle—keeping both characters as one would’ve really strengthened the arcs of both of them
