Oh Ben, oh boy

I think Ben Paul is great character for the narrative of Season 1. He’s scared, flimsy and makes a shit ton of mistakes. While I don’t really have any personal connection or real “love” for him, I feel like he perfectly rounds up the Season 1 crew.

I believe it was cut content, but the bandits were the same people who… did things to those who lived alongside Ben at his camp, so him being scared of them totally makes sense to me and should genuinely be a common consensus around the fandom.

The one thing I won’t forgive him for doing is living Clem on the street alone, but otherwise I feel like he fulfills his purpose as the scared kid (I think he’s 17-18 tho? Still a kid compared to the others) who can’t seem to get himself together

As for his deaths, I think those are very good actually. The Bell Tower one has good meaning, Ben knows he’s fucked everything up and just wants it to end and Lee can either grant him his wish, or keep belief in him.

The Alleyway death, while I feel like the way he fell was a little flimsy, is a great way to round off his relationship with Kenny and to end his arc of panic in a peaceful way.

All in all, I think when it comes to how he was written, Ben is an A tier character in my opinion. As for my personal favorites, I’d have him Low A-High B.

What do you think the saddest thing about TWDG Season 1 is?

I think it's how quick the group actually dies out.

Other than Doug/Carley, everyone dies, disappears or leaves the scene within a week, give or take 2-3 days.

The way the group goes from opening episode 2 with 9 people to making it to the mansion with 3 original group members. The way everything they touch seems to become a disaster.

Chuck, Omid and Molly are "part of the group" for like 2 days each and all of them get hurt or separated from the group.

From the moment they leave the Motor Inn to go to the Barn, it's just absolute loss and disarray. And I think that's sad, especially how they open episode 2 by saving a life and from there on, its just loss. The season ends with one member, the youngest member of the group, by herself.

If you could change anything on the TWDG franchise, what would you change for each Season?

I feel like I wouldn't change anything unless I was writing it myself or if I HAD to

Season 1: I would probably tweak a bit in Episode 4? Crawford feel a bit filler to me, especially with how empty and dead it is. While I was fine with that, I kinda would've liked some life to be around maybe, see how Molly reacts, etc. Also, I probably would've made Chuck surviving in Episode 3 determinant. Feels like he gets thrown under the bus,

Season 2: The easy answer is Luke vs Kenny, but for me, I think the Howe's conflict should've been a little more... important? I don't know, it feels like Episode 3 is way too fast. Carver's arc is solid, but they just ditch him and go ahead with making Kenny look like a crazy person.

Season 3: A LOT. First of all, Kate romance should be reliant on your actions. If you start moving away from her, that's it. Stop forcing it on the player, please. Javi is way more important to the story than just picking between Kate and David. I also probably would've made the New Frontier a more sadistic and harsh group, again, sometimes it just feels like a 'Everyone Hates Clem' club, even though she steals from them and people just choose to ignore it.

Season 4: I don't know? Probably providing Lilly's reasonings and lore public to create context as to why she became such a tyrant. It's a real swing out of nowhere to just see her after 8 years and have to hate her for no reason lmao.

I know you love violet (same) but what are your reasons for loving her(and why you prefer her over clouis)?

I'm not exactly sure if I'm being totally honest. Just feels like shes kinda real and relatable, at least from my standpoint. Just a depressed ass bitch who finally wants to stay and not dip on her. I also respected her taking charge of the group and defending Clem after Marlon's whole ordeal was revealed.

As for why I prefer Violentine over Clouis, it does stem from the same reasons as to why I prefer her in general in the first place. As much as I love Louis, I guess I didn't connect to him as much as I did Violet? I don't really know lmao. I love both of them as characters, and their romances/friendships with Clem are silver linings to Season 4 (I find a lot to complain abt in the season ngl)

Hello! If you could pick one character to find Clementine at her family's house (other than Lee), who would you pick? To make it a bit more in-depth, I'll split it intro three picks.

Who would be the objectively best person to find Clementine?

Who would be the most interesting person to find Clementine (as in it would make for a very interesting story)?

And who would be the worst possible person to find Clementine?

I'll probably keep it in a Season 1 context since that makes the most sense, and we'll also say Lee has never met Clem. I think the BEST alternative to Lee would be someone who doesn't have a big focus on other things. While Lilly and Kenny were both focused on their families (not to say they wouldn't protect Clem, but she wouldn't be priority #1), maybe someone like Carley could've been a solid protector for Clem, as well as doing what she could to keep up with her. She shows interest in Clem's wellbeing in both 101 and 102, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was emphasized had Clem been in her arms rather than Lee's.

I think Molly or Charles finding her would be kind of interesting. Molly at the time would've still had her sister and would be yet to join Crawford. While Molly does have an arm around her diabetic sister, it's clear she would've done what she could for Clem as well, especially with Crawford's strict rules around children. Or maybe she chooses an alternative and takes the girls elsewhere.

As for Chuck, while it did seem like he had pretty much no hope, I imagine having Clem around would give him some incentive to move forward and get her somewhere safe. Plus, he's actually pretty smart in survival terms and I'm sure he would've taught Clem some valuable things.

The St. Johns would easily be the worst group, but I'll say Danny in terms of a single person. He's just super weird and nasty to look at. I don't even wanna imagine how that would go.
