I have never seen a good rwby rewrite and I'm starting to think a lot of the people who think they can 'fix' rwby have no idea what the series is even about. Once again I am the only one Who Gets It.

RWBY fanfic recomendation!

Basically, this plays after Volume 9. Or should I say before?

From the Ever After, the tree sends the team back to the past 10 years before the fall of Beacon, and they get a chance to, if not defeat Salem, at least stop her active plans and make sure she can't unite the relics. In the meantime, stop the White Fang from radicating and stop the corruption of the Shnee Dust Company. And of course, save Summer Rose from her misterious death.

Taking on new identities and hiding behind mostly grim masks, Ruby, Weis, Yang, Blake, and Jaune form team ROWSE. They become a third party in Ozpin and Salem's game, knowing damn well that Ozpin's current way of doing things is doomed to fail.

They also make a habit of adopting abused kids, which, as you may imagine, does not go well.

Some of the lines from this fic that live in my head rent free:

“HEY OZ I MIGHT HAVE FUCKED UP.” Qrow slams his hands on Ozpin’s desk, looking alarmed.

“...how so? Does this have to do with your cover “sort-of-not-quite” being blown, as you put it?” Ozpin asks.

“No, it’s worse. So, I left them alone last night since this time of week they just go party and stuff, and when I went back today…they had a kid.” Qrow explains.

“...I beg your pardon?” Ozpin asks.

“There is a little girl following them around like a lost duckling.” Qrow explains. “And I have no idea where she came from.”

"Scarlet Reaper, the (probably) human leader of the team."

Do you think they kidnap on commission?

“Who the hell is that?” Beauty asks.

“No idea.” Scarlet reloads. “I’m willing to bet someone fated to die.”

Keep seeing rwby revisionism where people are acting like Yang hasn't been in love and whipped for Blake since beacon, I'd like to remind everyone how Yang asked Blake and only Blake for a dance, and she danced with no one else, how she opened up to blake about raven because she knew that was the only way she was gonna get her to finally get rest. How Blake's opinion of her mattered so much she broke into tears at the thought of Blake not trusting her. The way she instantly jumped at adam to protect blake while CRYING because blake was hurt. And how she shut down and even pushed ruby away once it hit her that blake was gone, after all that blake ran. There was a real possibility she would never see the girl she cares for so much, the girl she's starting to realize she has been in love with this whole time, ever. Yang wanted to love Blake and have that love returned for two years and it must so cathartic to finally be able to do it.

fuck yeah. beacon bees so, so real.

i will say here that i do think the bees could have benefited from just one more scene with the two of them in the beacon era. something in early v3, i think, maybe just after the fight they won as team rwby. @kienava told me a while back that they think that there could have been a scene where blake admitted that she chose yang in the emerald forest intentionally, and i think that would be a good fit,,, something along the lines of yang commenting on how their team attack was the finishing move in the fight and how well they work together, before blake comes clean about the reasons she chose yang as a partner. i feel like that also could have nicely contrasted with blake's comparison between adam and yang later in the volume.

Ok friends I need help finding a white rose fic. I’ve been searching for days with no luck. I can’t remember if it was on AO3 or FFN but what I do remember is:

It was an arranged marriage AU where Weiss was supposed to marry Cardin Winchester so he could inherit the SDC (because misogyny)

Weiss falls in love with Ruby instead and literally leaves Cardin at the altar and runs out to find Ruby in her wedding dress

Background Bumbleby and yang is there driving a truck and I think Ruby drives a motorcycle???

It was before we knew Weiss’s dads name was Jacque and before we knew he was an asshole so he’s surprisingly chill with Weiss bailing on her wedding

Willow is there and she’s an alcoholic per usual

Weiss ends up inheriting the SDC and is a badass

I've got my own problem with Fix-It Fics in general, but the people who rant and rave about how awful or arrogant they are need to take a chill pill.

Like bro some people are gonna think they can write better than the rwby writers, that's not a big deal. And you know what? Some people can write better than the rwby writers, that's just a fact of life. Folks actually will get angry because people they don't know think they can improve upon the work of other people they don't know. Sorry not everyone thinks that the rwby writers are an unachievable standard of skill and their work can never be improved upon? I guess?

Imagine doing this with any other show. XD Like imagine I told someone I wanted to write a Sherlock fix-it fic and they freaked out on me for the arrogance of daring to think I could improve upon work made by the great Steven Moffat. Imagine I was like "I'm making a Pirates of the Caribbean 5 fix-it fic" and someone started ranting about how stuck-up I must be for thinking I could improve upon someone else's work. Imagine someone made a non-glitchy 'fix-it' remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 where Princess Elise wasn't so bad, and then got hated on for daring to think they could do things better than the original makers of the game. It's ridiculous.

Not everyone thinks the rwby writers' work can't be improved, and not everyone feels the need to stop themselves from trying to improve it, and not everyone will think they're worse than the rwby writers. That's fine. Fix-it fics are normal, this fandom is just incredibly sensitive and insecure as a general rule.

if your "original story/rpg" idea is rooted in the premise of "what if [existing franchise] was good?" then just start over. i am not kidding. your ego is like insulation spray foam being inserted into the cracks of the premise-- sure it fills the gaps, but it's beyond ugly and everyone can see it.

Ch 11 has been inexplicably kicking my ass, but I think it should be going up sometime between late tonight and tomorrow evening.

Also so hey, what if I took the general concept of 2112, you know that cool dystopian sci-fi suite by Rush that comprises the first half of the album of the same name (Yes I am a music nerd, thank you for noticing), added enough plot for it to be a workable story and made that a RWBY fic? I dunno. Maybe it has legs, but my mind is just slight deranged right now for some reason so who knows… Oh! What if I did one based around Deranged. You know, the song Coheed & Cambria wrote for the Arkham City soundtrack about how Batman needs Joker just as much as Joker needs Batman? Maybe do a weird enemies-to-lovers dynamic, I love that trope. Or hey, what about one based around Enemies (either the Imagine Dragons Song from Arcane or the Shinedown song of the same name) I could….

Vacuan Nights, Like Vacuan Days

They’re just so great together! I’d love for Jaune and Weiss to get a little downtime in Vacuo to live out a moment like this. They really deserve it, and I’d love to see Jaune’s guitar make a reappearance.

The comic here was inspired by u/Silverstar1243’s excellent piece of art, A Serenade Under the Moonlight. Send some love to them on their twitter, commission some art if you’re willing and able, they’ve made some great stuff.

You folks may have noticed I threw in a couple of references for those in the know; the Golden Oreos behind Yang (double stuffed, I might add) for the trio’s ship, Weiss liking it rough for Mallobaude’s great fic, and of course I made a whole theme around the Arabian Nights Disney song. A song, along with its Aladdin compatriots, which I spent the better part of a day finding covers for just to listen to on repeat while I worked.

This one’s now officially my longest comic project, with 14 panels, two over the past record since I added the White Knight kiss at the end. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Not sure I’d say it was more difficult than my Vanity of Vanities post, but for this one I actually knew how to use my editing software going into it (at least somewhat).

Put a lot of work into this one, been working on it on and off since February. Took a few breaks for vacation, to make my memorial post for Rooster Teeth, and another five meme edits or so, but I came back around to it. First half was pretty easy, relatively minor edits inserting characters into scenes and so on. The second half with Jaune and Weiss was tougher though, with color correcting, merging poses, redrawing features, drawing Jaune’s entire head to fix some lighting issues, etc. Really like how the edit to make Jaune strum his guitar turned out.

The time it took to make the whole comic got me down a little, until I did a bit of math. Including my side projects since starting this, all the scripting and editing and all, I’ve been pumping out a panel every two days. That seems pretty good to me, that kind of accomplishment makes me a little proud of myself.

Really need to get around to watching the second part of the Justice League Crossover movies. It’s got a few Vacuo scenes that might make things a little more authentic instead of me just using Saphron’s house and pretending it’s a suite in Vacuo. I do love taking yet more character stills from Jaune and friends experiencing deep trauma and turning it into something positive, been making that a bit of a personal habit. And I’ve got to say, the background for Jaune and Weiss’ scene is really beautiful, pulled it from when Sun and Neptune hear Ruby’s message about Salem. That’s just a really good shot all on its own, I even saved a copy for my computer’s wallpaper after editing out the two.

Posting a big RWBY White Knight edit, watching not one but two RWBY Beyond episodes, and all on the trail of the news that RWBY’s found partners that they’re negotiating with and that the creative team is expected to stay on. And I'm sipping bubble tea. Life is good.

Anyway, pardon the long write up. I’m invested in this one, and am quite pleased with how the comic turned out. I hope you all get a kick out of it as well!

I think the reason I connect to Jaune of all characters is because I can relate to the feeling of inadequacy. Ofcourse the character isn't perfect and I get why people just don't like him but I can't agree. Ofcourse that's just a shitty opinion and of course obviously my opinions are garbage. Any way my glazing aside-

Setting: jaune is currently helping Weiss move into her temporary apartment.

Jaune: hey Weiss?

Weiss turned to look at jaune as she hummed. She held a box in her hands before setting it down a stack of boxes.

Weiss: hmm?

Jaune: if you were sent back in time and put in our beacon, would you still.. you know dislike me during that time?

Weiss: well depends, would it just be me or would all of us be sent back?

Jaune: just you.

Weiss: hmm.. well id certainly still be annoyed with you. But I wouldnt be.. as harsh as my younger self. I would tell you to stop flirting and just try being friendly with me and then see how that goes.

Jaune: huh.. alright then. anything else outside of me?

Weiss: well this ones obvious, tell pyrrha to ask you out. Atleast then I wouldn't be annoyed. And apologize to Blake profusely for a lot of the things I said.. and ofcourse make sure to check in on ruby.

The room went quiet as jaune simply nodded.

Jaune: so-

Weiss: jaune, since you did ask that I think It's only fair that I ask you a question.

Jaune: huh, that seems fair. Fire away.

Weiss turned around fully to face him.

Weiss: if you went back in time.. what would you do?

Jaune: let's see, I would try harder in my classes, I'd have enough with Cardin's bullshit a lot earlier.. and I'd be honest with my team and you guys.. outside of that I'd stop flirting with you.. I got a lot of things I wish I could fix.

Weiss: but obviously.. what's happened, has happened.

Jaune: no going back.

Weiss: speaking of no going back, since we've finished up for today I say we go visit Ruby.

Jaune: alright then, you sure I should come with? It's.. been awhile since me and her actually talked.

Weiss: I think it do you both good.

Jaune just simply nodded as he amd Weiss soon walked out the front door but not before-

Jaune: hey Weiss.. thanks for putting up with me

Weiss: your welcome.. and your not that annoying anymore. Besides, outside of that, your a good friend.
