I have never seen a good rwby rewrite and I'm starting to think a lot of the people who think they can 'fix' rwby have no idea what the series is even about. Once again I am the only one Who Gets It.

RWBY fanfic recomendation!

Basically, this plays after Volume 9. Or should I say before?

From the Ever After, the tree sends the team back to the past 10 years before the fall of Beacon, and they get a chance to, if not defeat Salem, at least stop her active plans and make sure she can't unite the relics. In the meantime, stop the White Fang from radicating and stop the corruption of the Shnee Dust Company. And of course, save Summer Rose from her misterious death.

Taking on new identities and hiding behind mostly grim masks, Ruby, Weis, Yang, Blake, and Jaune form team ROWSE. They become a third party in Ozpin and Salem's game, knowing damn well that Ozpin's current way of doing things is doomed to fail.

They also make a habit of adopting abused kids, which, as you may imagine, does not go well.

“HEY OZ I MIGHT HAVE FUCKED UP.” Qrow slams his hands on Ozpin’s desk, looking alarmed.

“No, it’s worse. So, I left them alone last night since this time of week they just go party and stuff, and when I went back today…they had a kid.” Qrow explains.

“...I beg your pardon?” Ozpin asks.

“There is a little girl following them around like a lost duckling.” Qrow explains. “And I have no idea where she came from.”

"Scarlet Reaper, the (probably) human leader of the team."

Do you think they kidnap on commission?

“Who the hell is that?” Beauty asks.

“No idea.” Scarlet reloads. “I’m willing to bet someone fated to die.”

Keep seeing rwby revisionism where people are acting like Yang hasn't been in love and whipped for Blake since beacon, I'd like to remind everyone how Yang asked Blake and only Blake for a dance, and she danced with no one else, how she opened up to blake about raven because she knew that was the only way she was gonna get her to finally get rest. How Blake's opinion of her mattered so much she broke into tears at the thought of Blake not trusting her. The way she instantly jumped at adam to protect blake while CRYING because blake was hurt. And how she shut down and even pushed ruby away once it hit her that blake was gone, after all that blake ran. There was a real possibility she would never see the girl she cares for so much, the girl she's starting to realize she has been in love with this whole time, ever. Yang wanted to love Blake and have that love returned for two years and it must so cathartic to finally be able to do it.

fuck yeah. beacon bees so, so real.

i will say here that i do think the bees could have benefited from just one more scene with the two of them in the beacon era. something in early v3, i think, maybe just after the fight they won as team rwby. @kienava told me a while back that they think that there could have been a scene where blake admitted that she chose yang in the emerald forest intentionally, and i think that would be a good fit,,, something along the lines of yang commenting on how their team attack was the finishing move in the fight and how well they work together, before blake comes clean about the reasons she chose yang as a partner. i feel like that also could have nicely contrasted with blake's comparison between adam and yang later in the volume.

My expectatives for Fixing RWBY arc Atlas

Well, well, well. The volume 7 of fixing RWBY is coming. I hope it comes after I finish my cycle in the university. Whatever, now I'm gonna say what I expect for the Atlas arc.

1.-The megoliath in the room.

James Ironwood. I was satisfied with how Celtic Phoenix handled Adam. I'm expecting him give a good development of Ironwood. Ironwood isn't very different (For now) in fixing RWBY. So I expect the changes to come soon. What I expect? More scenes where he shows his "sinister side" before he becomes a full fledged villain. You know, a better built up. To make more natural his actions during volume 8.

I also expect he don't becoming pure evil during volume. So we don't have he threaten to bomb Mantle.

I as well, expect more interactions with team RWBY. For example, Yang thanking him for the new arm.

2.-Atlas characters I'm talking about the minor characters like Forest or the drunk friends. Celtic Phoenix is too much of giving more development to small characters like those. So I'm expecting Forest to be a more vocal and present supporter of the Happy Huntresses. And see more of the drunk friends.

3.-Team RWBY and JNR.

I expect more talks between them about telling the truth to Ironwood. As well, I imagine more development of Ren as supporter of Ironwood, more scenes of him like that and why he side with him. Damn, maybe even Ren siding with him initially after the martial law and the team breaks up.

Nora and Blake interacting more with the happy huntresses since they were vocal detractors of Ironwood since the beginning.

And Yang and Blake having more scenes together. You know, slow burn romance.

4.-RWBY Arrowfell?

I'm actually interested in if Celtic will adapt the events of Arrowfell. I mean, there are interesting characters and important elements there that could be used on the main plot.

Of course, I expect Celtic to don't make Hanlon Fifeston so evil.

5.-Atlas proper.

I imagine more development on how the SDC oppresses faunus. And well, more about how Atlas oppresses faunus in general.

6.-Jacques and the council

I expect Jacques to have a bigger participation. I mean, imagine him using his SDC private military to fight Ironwood. Or he having an electoral debate with Robyn. Even more scenes of him abusing his family (Whitley and Willow).

Other thing would be council. We already saw them during volume 4 making a cameo. I wonder if Celtic will also hold them responsible for the situation of Atlas. You know, the oppression of the faunus, not stopping the SDC, etc.

7.-Happy Huntresses

A common complain about them was the fact that they did very little during volume 7 in favor of Mantle. We could see more scenes of them helping the city. Maybe we can get rid of the Mantle wall problem, that didn't made sense.

8.-Other matters

Well, I expect the return of Ciel. Watts and Tyrian having a similar role than in canon. Cinder... Yeah, the same.

8.-Conclusions

There is a lot I expect from the Atlas arc of Fixing RWBY.

Mostly better characterization and better use of secondary and tertiary characters.

But those are just my expectations. What about yours?

I've got my own problem with Fix-It Fics in general, but the people who rant and rave about how awful or arrogant they are need to take a chill pill.

Like bro some people are gonna think they can write better than the rwby writers, that's not a big deal. And you know what? Some people can write better than the rwby writers, that's just a fact of life. Folks actually will get angry because people they don't know think they can improve upon the work of other people they don't know. Sorry not everyone thinks that the rwby writers are an unachievable standard of skill and their work can never be improved upon? I guess?

Imagine doing this with any other show. XD Like imagine I told someone I wanted to write a Sherlock fix-it fic and they freaked out on me for the arrogance of daring to think I could improve upon work made by the great Steven Moffat. Imagine I was like "I'm making a Pirates of the Caribbean 5 fix-it fic" and someone started ranting about how stuck-up I must be for thinking I could improve upon someone else's work. Imagine someone made a non-glitchy 'fix-it' remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 where Princess Elise wasn't so bad, and then got hated on for daring to think they could do things better than the original makers of the game. It's ridiculous.

Not everyone thinks the rwby writers' work can't be improved, and not everyone feels the need to stop themselves from trying to improve it, and not everyone will think they're worse than the rwby writers. That's fine. Fix-it fics are normal, this fandom is just incredibly sensitive and insecure as a general rule.

How this will work:

The short stories themselves will not be deleted but will be marked as outdated and removed from the series listing, with a notification added in the beginning notes informing one reading about it.

The rewritten versions will be a single multi-chapter entry, with each rewritten version of the short being uploaded as a chapter. As a rewritten version is added, the short that it replaces will receive the treatment mentioned above above.

Vacuan Nights, Like Vacuan Days

They’re just so great together! I’d love for Jaune and Weiss to get a little downtime in Vacuo to live out a moment like this. They really deserve it, and I’d love to see Jaune’s guitar make a reappearance.

The comic here was inspired by u/Silverstar1243’s excellent piece of art, A Serenade Under the Moonlight. Send some love to them on their twitter, commission some art if you’re willing and able, they’ve made some great stuff.

You folks may have noticed I threw in a couple of references for those in the know; the Golden Oreos behind Yang (double stuffed, I might add) for the trio’s ship, Weiss liking it rough for Mallobaude’s great fic, and of course I made a whole theme around the Arabian Nights Disney song. A song, along with its Aladdin compatriots, which I spent the better part of a day finding covers for just to listen to on repeat while I worked.

This one’s now officially my longest comic project, with 14 panels, two over the past record since I added the White Knight kiss at the end. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Not sure I’d say it was more difficult than my Vanity of Vanities post, but for this one I actually knew how to use my editing software going into it (at least somewhat).

Put a lot of work into this one, been working on it on and off since February. Took a few breaks for vacation, to make my memorial post for Rooster Teeth, and another five meme edits or so, but I came back around to it. First half was pretty easy, relatively minor edits inserting characters into scenes and so on. The second half with Jaune and Weiss was tougher though, with color correcting, merging poses, redrawing features, drawing Jaune’s entire head to fix some lighting issues, etc. Really like how the edit to make Jaune strum his guitar turned out.

The time it took to make the whole comic got me down a little, until I did a bit of math. Including my side projects since starting this, all the scripting and editing and all, I’ve been pumping out a panel every two days. That seems pretty good to me, that kind of accomplishment makes me a little proud of myself.

Really need to get around to watching the second part of the Justice League Crossover movies. It’s got a few Vacuo scenes that might make things a little more authentic instead of me just using Saphron’s house and pretending it’s a suite in Vacuo. I do love taking yet more character stills from Jaune and friends experiencing deep trauma and turning it into something positive, been making that a bit of a personal habit. And I’ve got to say, the background for Jaune and Weiss’ scene is really beautiful, pulled it from when Sun and Neptune hear Ruby’s message about Salem. That’s just a really good shot all on its own, I even saved a copy for my computer’s wallpaper after editing out the two.

Posting a big RWBY White Knight edit, watching not one but two RWBY Beyond episodes, and all on the trail of the news that RWBY’s found partners that they’re negotiating with and that the creative team is expected to stay on. And I'm sipping bubble tea. Life is good.

Anyway, pardon the long write up. I’m invested in this one, and am quite pleased with how the comic turned out. I hope you all get a kick out of it as well!

I think the reason I connect to Jaune of all characters is because I can relate to the feeling of inadequacy. Ofcourse the character isn't perfect and I get why people just don't like him but I can't agree. Ofcourse that's just a shitty opinion and of course obviously my opinions are garbage. I feel like Rwby having a linear plot/story that's mostly focused on that is what causes a lot of people who are used to shounen or other media pieces with"filler" or one off episode with the characters just existing and doing little side adventures to be angry. Early Rwby had mire episodes like this but even then it was more linear than most series like it. Idk I understand wanting more moments where characters are just going on side quests or having fun, but this just isn't that type of show, Rwby feels more like your watching a storybook playout, think like how stageplays function, with a beginning middle and end. and I think some miss that point

honestly it always reads to me like "how dare they not include this - they should have included it and had it to even better quality than it is and delivered it in the same time for the same budget but they didn't because they're bad writers/animators/producers, i, an armchair critic with no practical experience in any of these fields, could have done it way better"

there's a complete - and fully intentional - disconnect in understanding how show production works because complaining and making the lives of everyone involved as miserable as possible (thinking back to the flash freeze in Texas when the last few chapters of volume 8 had to be delayed so RT employees could prioritise not freezing to death and some terminally online dipshit started harassing Kerry and saying he was bad at his job for not already having the episodes done - deliberately ignoring the concept of post-production - because it was absolutely vital that the episodes come out on time so the dipshit in question could continue his rewrite/fix fic. which is a. just unfathomably rude to say, especially to someone that heavily involved with the show - especially when the 'fic' in question was just a bulletpoint list of 'and then Adam says something cool. and then Blake stands there and does nothing.' or whatever, and b. fucking ghoulish and callous to say to people who are trying not to die)

RWBY die-hards are so funny tbh. They spent the past five years deliberately and vehemently gatekeeping the fndm to a ridiculously high degree, doing things like gloating that they were "purging" the fndm of all but the show's most ardent worshipers, launching vicious smear campaigns against anyone and everyone who said even the mildest bit of criticism and slinging baseless accusations of "sexism" and "homophobia" against them (even though an overwhelming majority of their targets have been queer or women or both, while an overwhelming majority of RWBY's creative team have been straight men with histories of open misogyny and queerphobia) they've bullied fan-artists off every platform, they've sent hate mail, death threats, rape threats, slurs, they've literally posted long lists of "rules" they expect fans to follow "or else" (and the rules include things like "you must fiercely advocate for my favorite ship" and "you must love my favorite characters and hate my least favorites" and "No AU's or Fix-it fics allowed" and then if anyone is caught breaking these "rules" they get labeled as "the HTDM" and viciously smeared and bullied out of the fndm, they've deliberately sought out popular fanworks and started viciously smearing and harassing the fan creators while gloating "if you criticize the product sold by a corporation, we get to coordinate cyberbullying campaigns against you as an individual artist who makes fanart for free, because those are totally the same thing in our minds so you deserve it!!!" They've swarmed YouTubers like penguinz0 or Hbomberguy and harassed them with death threats and accused them of "trying to kill rwby" (as if it couldn't possibly have anything to do with 1. Rooster Teeth being a horrifically abusive and bigoted company that every decent person decided to stop supporting, 2. "CRWBY" being comprised of and run by Rooster Teeth bigwigs including four of the five founding fathers of the company and several department heads, many of whom have open histories of extreme bigotry themselves, which bled into the show and caused extreme bigotry to be baked into the writing itself, and 3. *this exact fandom*, all of which together are enough of a poison itself, to the point where having a couple of youtubers say "so this isn't a good mix" was never going to actually affect viewership NEARLY as much as the Corporation and Fandom were already doing) and also can we talk about the horrific amounts of biphobia that gets leveled against the people who ship Blake with literally ANYONE other than Yang and ship Yang with literally ANYONE other than Yang?? Because my god the biphobia that exists within the Die-Hards in this fandom is off the fucking charts. The amount of specifically bisexual fans who have been viciously attacked because they did not list bumblby among all the queer ships they liked. The amount of times I've seen people say things like "the only reason anyone likes BlackSun is if they're homophobic" when a lot of BlackSun shippers are openly bi and ship them as a bi-for-bi ship. The amount of times I've seen people say things like "the only reason anyone PRETENDS to like Freezerburn is if they're trying to shove Yang with a random girl so they can force Blake to date a stinky MAN while using Yang and Weiss as shields to protect themselves from being caught as the homophobes they really are." The amount of times I've seen people attack fans who ship Blake with Ilia or Ruby or Nora, or fans who ship Yang with Pyrrha or Neon or Nora, because it *does not matter* if you actively ship a hundred queer rwby ships and write hundreds of fics about it and draw endless fanart of it, if you say "eh I personally just don’t care for Blake X Yang" or even if you say "I used to be a hard-core bumblby shipper but the way the writers chose to execute it left a lot to be desired and turned me off the ship" you get labeled a "Sexist Homophobe" and violently abused and bullied. It's fucking disgraceful, it's NO WONDER this fandom is fucking dead

When a fandom: a) posts strict rules detailing exactly which interpretations, headcanons, character opinions, and ships are REQUIRED in order to be considered "not a hater," b) viciously attacks and harasses every single person on the internet who does not follow those strict rules and labels them a "hater" because of it, c) slings baseless and despicable accusations of "sexism" and "homophobia" against these so-called "haters," because apparently they're too ignorant to pick up a dictionary and learn that "criticizing rwby" is not included in the definition of those words, while also completely ignoring or even *denying* the fact that most of their targets are queer women and most of our complaints are that *rwby is textbook sexist and homophobic and RACIST AND ABLEIST and was created and almost entirely written by openly sexist and homophobic and racist and ableist men, and you actually kind of have to have failed Progressivism 101 in order to not see it,* d) engages in open bigotry themselves by attacking marginalized people to punish them for condemning bigotry while using bigoted slurs and dogwhistles against them, and e) deliberately "purges" the fandom of every single fanartist, fanfic writer, theorist, meta analyst poster, or even shit-poster who DARED to express an opinion that didn't conform to the "rules" and therefore got labeled a "bigoted hater" who "laid down with the dogs" and was "guilty by association..."

The fandom dwindles away to nothing, and dies

And then the last remaining Die-Hards who got their wish and "purged" the fandom of everybody whose opinions did not 100% align with theirs, get all pissy whenever they see somebody like you acknowledge the empty void left behind

The fandom got so militant and zealous with their gatekeeping that there's just nobody left anymore, except for the few who turned Worshiping RWBY into a cult and violently kicked out everyone who didn't conform - but they consider that to be a "victory" so they attack every new straggler who walks into the vast empty field and says "there used to be a fandom here."

That post that was made five years ago about how it was time for the mega-stans to "purge the fndm" of everyone who didn't conform to THEIR view of the show? Yeah lol well they succeeded and I hope they're happy with their echo-chamber of circle-jerking Yes-Men who have been throwing all their hard-earned money at bigots and abusers while crying about the uncertain future of the show they turned into their identity, and I hope one day they realize that THEY contributed to Rooster Teeth's downfall far more than the critics ever did

Because fandom has historically thrived on diversity of opinion, including the allowance of criticism and the celebration of fanworks

So when a culty subsection of the fandom decrees that freedom of expression is WRONG and differing opinions are WRONG and writing fanfiction they don't like is WRONG and drawing fanart they don't like is WRONG and shipping ships they don't like is WRONG and not shipping the ships they do like is WRONG and liking characters they dislike is WRONG and disliking the characters they do like is WRONG and criticizing the corporation behind the product is WRONG and holding the product creators accountable for their hateful and ignorant beliefs is WRONG and choosing to withhold our money from those who have been proven to be abusive bigots is WRONG and therefore demanding change instead of letting them keep getting away with everything is WRONG, and so they are so totally justified in their efforts to deliberately cyberstalk, harass, and bully the "Arrogant, Entitled, Ungrateful" non-conformists until they've driven everybody away...

The fandom dies

And there's nobody left to BUY THE PRODUCT

The Die-Hard Mega-Stans are the ones that killed RWBY. That's why they're so desperate to point fingers and bitterly curse the names of all the fans they deliberately ORDERED to "Stop Watching," "Stop Posting," "Stop talking," "Stop Writing," "Stop Drawing," "Stop BUYING," and that's why they're so fucking ANGRY every time they see proof that their mass gatekeeping, mass cyberbullying, mass smearing campaigns WORKED.

The fandom is dead because they fucking drowned it on purpose, and they refuse to admit that fact to themselves

What else can they do but lash out?

What else is there to say? You nailed it. I was there in the very beginning when the fandom was thriving and I watched the wasps slowly kill it. I remember all the creative au’s and how even rarepairs got content. It’s not even a husk of its former self, it’s crumbled dust.
