A New Years’ gift for @seatrisa ! This was for a Discord server gift exchange, and the only rule to follow was that the giftee likes happy endings. So Time is here with his Great Fairy Mask to save the day! I hope you like your gift, Seatrisa!
I was going to write a little drabble to go along with this but I got caught up in making the art itself. (I may have spent a LOT of hours on this.) Might add on later =)
8 x 11 in. Black ink, alcohol markers, colored pencils, acrylic paint, and gel pen.
[IMG: A marker drawing of a scene with Hyrule, Legend, Warriors, Four, and Time from Linked Universe. Hyrule is lying on the ground, unconscious, covered in blood from a stomach wound. The ground around him is also covered in blood. Legend is kneeling by Hyrule’s head, clutching his shoulders and lifting him slightly. He is shouting and his expression is somewhere between angry and panicked. Warriors is kneeling at Hyrule’s side, taking Hyrule’s pulse with his right hand and resting his other arm on his own knee. Warriors is talking quietly to Four, who is kneeling by Hyrule’s feet, pulling the stopper out of a bottle of red potion. Behind them all, Time is running towards the group, holding the Great Fairy Mask in his right hand. Around Time fly four fairies of varying colors. The background is a well-lit forest with bushes and grass.]
And once again, I love my own lineart, so here’s the image before I added all those damned colors to it.

I realized that no one has ever asked a Rulie doodle request if I remember well, and felt quite bad for the poor guy. Look at him, he's begging you to make him do something silly on a drawing

Guys. I have a Linked Universe fic idea.
It was inspired by Epic: The Muiscal's "Remember Them" and "My Goodbye."
I say that and yet if I didn't say that you probably wouldn't notice.
And I have now typed 5,000 words of it and don't actually have a plot planned out???? Like??? This was not the plan???

So the headcannon that Wind can see ghosts right?
Headcannon, he can see Mipha revive Wild
Headcannon, he can see lil Time, who died, watch over Legend and Hyrule
(ie worry over when they look sad or curl up and sleep w/ them)
Headcannon, he can see Fierce Deity float around Time, Wars, and the others
(ie poking Wars in the ribs and muttering about his eating habits, trying to push Time back to his bedroll, attempting to tuck Wild in, fretting over whenever Twilight gets injured, sitting by a homesick Sky, curled up around Legde and Rulie w/ lil dead Time's ghost, making funny faces at Wind once discovering he can actually see him)
Headcannon that whenever it seems Four's eyes look purple-ish, he sees Shadow flicker over him with a very fond look in his eyes
Headcannon that Wind can see the first one flash to life above them full of fury when one gets badly injured or angry, he's the most corporal, so much so that Wind thought he was alive the first time, he particularly likes Sky
Headcannon that none of them know until Wind tells them or something happens

In your necromancer Rulie Au Legend just kinda seems to follow around with a blank stare in every pic besides how surprised he looked right when he was revived.
How there is Legend, like..... mentally? Does he know who he is? Does he remember his life? Is his mind as sharp as it used to be or is it muddled and hard to think straight?
If remnants of the decay in his limbs stick around the logical continuation is that his brain decayed from the lack of oxygenated blood from. Ya know. Being dead. And that resulted in brain damage like when people aren't brought back with CPR fast enough
Tumblr media
Legend knows who he is and generally remembers his life but has trouble retrieving memories. He has constant brain fog. Sometimes the fog clears up and Hyrule is happier on days like that since Legend responds more and talks longer than a few words
But its the days when is mind is clear when Legend feels horrified with the situation he's in. He used to do something about it, like putting himself back to 'sleep' but Hyrule wakes him up and heals any injury his body has– so Legend is just resigned now.
Him following Rulie around with a dead (pun intended) expression is Legend going "this might as well be happening" Or has brain fog <-(the usual reason)
Thanks for the interesting tidbit about brain decay/damage! It explains leg's constant brainfog quite nicely! :D

A Problem Shared
This fic was inspired by this brilliant short comic by @mirensiart. Go check out their work it's awesome.
“Anyone else see that Wizrobe cast a spell on us during battle?” Asked four.
“Nothing happened though,” Wild shrugged, holding up a hand to count his fingers. “I feel fine.”
“Could it be a slow acting spell?” Time mused. “Stay alert to any changes.”
“Hmm, I don't recognise this magic,” Hyrule uttered, mostly to himself.
“Great!” Legend exclaimed, hands on his hips, scowl across his face. “A surprise spell, that's great! With our luck the spell will randomly make us explode or something.”
As the veteran continued to speculate, a fly appeared in Wind's vision. It wafted lazily about, buzzing irritatingly.
“Heh, we're not going to explode Vet,” Sky chuckled softly, finding the image alarmingly funny.
“You don't know that!” Legend bellowed in response.
At that moment the fly had the audacity to land on Wind's cheek. In retaliation, Wind slapped his hand to his face, squishing the bug with a satisfying clap.
“Ow!”
“What was that?!”
“Ouch!”
“What the fuck?!”
“Oww.”
“Sailor!”
“Agh!”
“What's going on?!”
Wind stared around at his companions. Each was rubbing their own cheek, as though they had all been slapped across the face.
“Wait… you all felt that too? Oops, sorry.” Wind shrugged, very confused and beginning to turn his suspicions onto the fly smashed into his palm.
“Yeah”
“Unfortunately.”
“Yup!”
“Yes!”
“Yeeah”
“Yes…”
They all replied at once.
Wars let out a long pained sigh as he rubbed his freshly raw cheek.
“So… a spell that shares pain huh…” he grumbled.
He and Twilight caught each other's eye and the same sickening thought passed between them.
“We are so dead.”
***
The first few hours passed by without much incident. Though each of the Link's found themselves a little short of breath after their hike up a steep valley. As they stopped to make camp, they all sighed a collective breath of relief to have a long rest. Even Wind and Wild, who would usually have bounded up the trail like mountain goats. Meanwhile Sky tried his best not to look too guilty.
Nothing of note happened during their evening meal either. Though Wild feared he might actually spontaneously combust from how many times the others told him to be careful with his knives, as he chopped vegetables for stew.
“Ooh hot!” Sky hissed, as he swallowed a mouthful of broth before blowing on it.
“Ouch!”
The exclamation rang around the ring of heroes, each experiencing the same sting of pain to their tongues. Waterskins and canteens were quickly reached for, to extinguish the burning in their mouths.
“Sky, can you please not burn off all our taste buds?” Legend asked, turning a wry look on his brother.
“Sorry, I wasn't thinking,” Sky pailed, taking extra care with his next mouthful.
“It's alright Sky, besides, the Captain doesn't have any sense of taste anyway!” Time smirked, before shoving a spoonful of stew into his mouth.
“Hey, take that back!” Warriors demanded, playfully slapping Time across the shoulder.
He regretted it instantly of course, when the same mild shock struck his own shoulder.
“Wars?” The others grumbled.
“Let's just try to refrain from any horse play, alright?” Twilight suggested, carefully inching away from Hyrule and Wild on either side of him. “We've gotten pretty familiar with each other on this journey. We can easily hurt each other without really trying.”
“And what's the bet that all of our pain tolerances are different?” Legend remarked, staring down into his stew.
He eyed the rings adoring each of his fingers. Legend struggled to remember the last time he had taken any of them off. Though he had given the healing ring to Rulie to borrow briefly.
Most granted him some kind of power or protection. However, there was one in particular which he knew he couldn't live without. The Vet swallowed a lump of carrot as he wondered how things would fair in the morning. Maybe if he tried to be the last one out of bed, it wouldn't be so bad.
“Let's just get some rest and hope this spell wears off by morning,” Time suggested.
“Agreed,” Wars chimed in.
The boys finished their meals and tucked themselves into their bed rolls, a safe distance away from each other. Previously on more than one occasion, someone had woken from a night terror and attacked the closest body. No one wanted an incident like that while they were trying to get some sleep.
***
“You feel any change this morning?” Four asked Twilight, as he staggered over to where the older hero was perched on a log on last watch.
“Don't think so, but then we didn't feel any different after the spell hit anyway. I don't reckon we'd know if it wore off without trying it out.”
“Hmm, you first!” Four chuckled.
“Yaww! Morning,” Sky yawned, as he sat up and stretched.
He smiled as he caught sight of his brothers.
“Anyone else awake yet?” He asked, rubbing the crust from his eyes.
“Not yet, but…” Twilight began, but he was cut off, as a surge of pain stabbed through what felt like his entire body.
Four dropped to his knees, his arms wrapped around his torso.
“Ahh!” Sky breathed, leaning forwards as the wave of aches washed over him.
“What the heck?!” Warriors exclaimed in a sleepy angry voice.
He rolled onto his side and out of his blankets as he squeezed his eyes shut. The others were all making similar cries and moans as they were rudely awoken by whatever had inflicted this all-encompassing pain upon them.
“Sorry everyone.” They heard Wild say sheepishly.
He carefully stretched his neck and limbs before getting to his feet and stumbling towards the fire.
“It's the scar tissue, it gets stiff in the mornings. Especially if it's chilly like it was last night,” he explained.
“I know what that kind of ache feels like,” Wars sighed, “this isn't that Wild. This is something else.”
“It’s me,” Legend muttered.
Sitting cross legged on his bed roll with his head hanging, the others struggled to see the veterans face.
“What do you mean it's you?” Hyrule frowned, slowly getting up and wincing against the pain. Had Legend somehow managed to hide an injury from them?
“The pain, it's something I've had for a long time. This ring helps, but first thing in the morning is always the worst.”
Legend held up his hand for the others to see. Though he wore so many rings he could have been referring to any of them. He swept his fingers through his fluffy fringe to brush it off his face, before dropping his hand in his lap.
“How, how long have you been dealing with this Lege?” Hyrule asked hesitantly.
Legend was aware that Hyrule had been inching steadily closer. Any moment he expected his successor’s hands to start glowing. He needed to put his mind to rest quickly. Well, as much as he could.
“A long time, Rulie. And before you start, I've tried every healing remedy under the sun. Even magic ones, so your healing magic won't help. I'm sorry, but it just won't.”
“Legend,” Sky sighed, finally out of his blankets and sitting close to the embers of the fire.
“I don't want your pity, any of you,” Legend hissed, turning his gaze around the group. “And you'd all say the same if it was the other way around. It'll be tolerable in half an hour or so.”
“We've broken camp in less time than that before,” Four sighed, plonking himself on the ground beside Sky.
“Does that mean every morning we've got on the road, you've secretly been dealing with this pain?” Wind asked.
Legend thought the kid looked like he was dealing with his and Wild's morning aches worst of all. Even his voice sounded strained as he stumbled towards where Time sat on his bedroll.
“I just,” Legend sighed. “It can't be helped, so I just get on with things, same as the rest of you.”
“We'll wait until everyone feels well enough to move.” Time decided, pulling Wind against his side as the sailor sat down beside him.
“Fine, but this better not become a regular thing. I can deal with my own curses the same as everyone else!” Legend insisted, fixing Time with an intense stare.
“Curse?” Wild asked, suddenly even more concerned.
“Figure of speech Champ,” Legend winked at him.
***
If Warriors was less combative towards the Veteran from that moment on, no one mentioned it. If Hyrule felt more inclined to stick close to his predecessor, Legend didn't mind it. The others tried not to think about their brother's many aches and pains earned from years of adventuring. Not to mention the fact that the guy hadn't even hit twenty yet.
Time sighed as they walked along the woodland trail and considered his own lot. He was the oldest, sure, but not by a lot. The others had made wild guesses about his age, but in truth he believed himself to be in his mid thirties. Time couldn't be sure of course, he'd never known when his birthday was. But Malon thought they were the same age and that was good enough for him.
Time and many battles had given the man his own share of aches and sore joints. Though not bad enough apparently to debilitate the whole group. He thought about how poor Wind had still struggled to get moving, even after the rest seemed to have recovered. Twilight had given the kid a piggyback ride until he felt steady enough to walk on his own.
Legend drew the sailor into a one armed hug and muttered an apology. But Time heard Wind insist that Legend had nothing to be sorry for. He expressed just how impressed he was that the veteran hero still got up every morning and got on with his job, the same as the rest of them. Legend didn't respond, but as Time glanced over his shoulder he caught the tips of Legend's ears turning pink.
***
The Lynel literally walked into them. Whether it had been laying in wait for them, or just happened upon a group of heroes in the wild, no one cared to ask.
“No heroics!” Warriors shouted almost immediately.
As swords and other weapons were drawn, a million memories flashed through his mind. All those times one of them had stepped in front of another to save them from a blow. That wasn't going to work today. They didn't know if it was solely pain that was being transferred yet. If wounds could also be shared between them, they were going to have bigger problems than the Lionel.
“He's right,” Time barked. “Keep your guard up and stay out of each other's way. We don't need any friendly fire or hits taken for each other. Understood?”
Everyone nodded and the Lynel charged. It went straight for Sky, perhaps the billowing of his cloak caught its attention. The young knight stood his ground, Master Sword held firmly in his grasp ready to strike. He glanced quickly left and right to make sure no one was nearby, then tried to remember the move Wild had shown him.
Sky waited until the Lynel was only a few feet away before stepping to the side and swinging his sword diagonally. He slashed the Lionel across its chest, leaving a deep gash in the flesh. It skidded to a halt a few meters behind Sky, letting out a furious roar which scattered a nearby flock of birds.
Unfortunately, the Lynel turned and swung its arm straight into Twilight, who had been trying to sneak up on it. The beast's forearm hit Twilight across the chest, sending a ripple across the group. Four and Hyrule both staggered backwards, while Wind was almost knocked off his feet.
“Argh, sorry!” Twilight grunted, but the others weren't listening.
The pain receded quickly and Wild prepared to line up a shot on the Lynel.
“Watch out, it's…!” Wars began to shout.
An instant later the Lynel opened its fanged jaws and let forth a bout of flame. The boys scattered, rolling or dodging out of the way to avoid being singed.
“Ahh!” Legend cried.
“Lege!” Hyrule winced through gritted teeth as he bit back Legend's pain.
“I'm alright. Just my leg,” Legend replied, quickly glancing at the fresh burn across his right leg.
“Yeah, we know,” Sky grunted.
“Wild, can you take a shot?” Time barked.
“Not at this close range. It moves too fast. I'm gonna get some distance, can you guys draw it to me?” Wild asked, already turning and sprinting off through the trees.
“I guess we'll have to try,” Time huffed under his breath. “Boys, draw the beast to Wild!”
The others nodded in understanding and hurried to help however they could. With one painfully burned leg each, they struggled to maneuver. Legend got the Lynel’s attention by blasting it once with his fire rod.
“Hey, over here!” Twilight bellowed, launching his boomerang at the beast.
The gale boomerang struck the monster in the back of the head, driving it into a tree with a blast of wind for good measure.
“No!” Wind shouted from the opposite direction. “Here!”
He let off a piercing whistle which cut through the air. The Lynel snapped its head around to stare at the young sailor. It narrowed its eyes and pawed a hoof at the ground. Huffing loudly through its nose.
“Sailor, run, now!” Warriors ordered calmly.
Wind had time to glance once at Warriors, and back at the Lynel before it lowered its torso and charged. Wind turned on the spot and sprinted full pelt after Wild.
“Catch me if you can, you bastard!” Wild shrieked over his shoulder
Before Time or Warriors could shout ‘language’, Wind was off. Brambles and branches snatched at his heels and his clothes, but Wind shook them off. He could feel the Lynel’s hoof-beats rumbling through the ground behind him. He couldn't slow down or he was going to die.
“Hylia please let Wild be out here somewhere!” Wind uttered, grunting as he fought his body to keep on running.
As though in answer to his prayer, Wind saw a hint of blue among the trees up ahead. He grinned when the visage of his brother came into view, standing in the middle of the path directly in front of him. Wind knew what he had to do, and he trusted Wild not to kill him in the process.
“You wanted him, now you got him!” Wind cheered at Wild, who answered his call with a smug little smirk.
Just as Wind was within a few meters of Wild and his outstretched sword, Wind dropped. He skidded forwards on his knees and slid on the damp grass right past Wild. Overhead, Wind heard Wild shift his stance ever so slightly as the Lynel thundered towards them.
Wild waited. And waited some more. He waited until the Lynel was mere feet away. Until he could smell the sweat on its flanks, and the brimstone on its breath. The Lynel swung its blade. Wild launched himself into the air. The forest spun in a blur. He was vaguely aware of the blue smudge of Wind somewhere nearby, but he had to keep his attention focused on his enemy.
The blade in Wild's hand moved as an extension of his arm. The Lynel lifted its head to roar at just the right moment. Wild smiled in the fraction of a second it took him to slice his blade across the monster’s artery.
***
“You're in pain Rulie, it's fine honestly. Don't strain yourself.” Legend insisted.
Hyrule gave him a deadpan look, his hands glowing and glittering with healing magic.
“Legend, I'm in pain because your leg is burnt, you idiot. If I don't heal you we'll all feel it for hours. Not to mention your wound could get infected.” Hyrule insisted, as he pushed Legend back down to the ground, a little more forcefully this time.
“Please just let him heal you, Lege. I don't know about the rest of you, but between the hit Twilight took and Legend's burned leg, I'm not feeling too good.” Four grumbled.
He was still rubbing his chest and sitting in an ungainly pose on the ground. Twilight could have sworn the smithy’s eyes flashed with a hint of ruby red for a moment. The pain in his own leg was akin to more of an annoying itch, but clearly it was having a stronger effect on the others.
At that moment Wind and Wild pushed through the brush nearby and rejoined the grouo. The tired and withdrawn expression on the Sailor’s face drove away the last of Legend's resistance. He let out a long drawn out sigh before he stopped trying to get up. Legend nodded once at Hyrule, then crossed his arms and waited.
While Hyrule set about fixing his predecessor's leg, Time gave Wind and Wild a look over. His gaze fixed on the scuffed knees of their youngest hero.
After digging around in his bag, Time pulled out two potions. He offered one to Wind who only grumbled briefly before taking it and sipping at the crimson potion. Time offered the other bottle to Twilight. Ordinarily Twi wouldn't waste one of their potions on something so trivial as a punch to the chest. However, given that it wasn't only his own pain he needed to heal, Twilight assented.
“Well, that could have gone worse,” Warriors sighed.
***
“Okay, I think we've found a counter spell,” Legend announced over dinner that evening.
He and Four had been scouring each other's spell books for over an hour. At last they happened upon a spell which seemed to meet their requirements.
“It's a fairly simple counter spell, but it has an element of a separation spell too,” Four added.
“Any side effects?” Time asked, pausing as he lifted a spoonful of soup to his lips.
“It's not a very helpful spellbook. It's pretty old and I can only decipher the most important parts,” Four admitted.
Legend nodded and decided to ignore the flash of violet in his brother's eyes. He'd been surprisingly focused during their search, almost gleeful to get his nose stuck in a pile of books. Four was often found reading of an evening, but this task seemed to have awoken the true bookworm in him.
“I say we put it to a vote. It's likely the spell will wear off eventually, but with our luck we could sustain another serious injury before then. All those in favor of trying the counter spell, raise a hand.” Warriors decided, already holding up his own hand as he looked around at the others.
In quick succession the rest of the Chain raised their hands, some holding spoons, into the air. Twilight and Time were the only two to hesitate. They shared a gaze and Twilight shrugged. After that they both lifted their hands and Time nodded to the Captain.
“Alright, we'll give it a try. Is there anything you need for the spell Legend?” Time asked.
“Um, I'm gonna need a hair from each of you tied into a knot,” Legend replied, squinting at the book for confirmation. “Hyrule, I might need your help too. In case my magic reserves aren't enough to cast it.”
“You can count on me,” Hyrule nodded.
With a fistful of hairs in various shades of blond, Legend and Hyrule stood beside the campfire. Legend held the spell book in his other hand and practiced the spell for the fiftieth time that evening. Hyrule's hand lay gently on Legend's shoulder, the comforting warmth of his hand emanating through his clothes. Hyrule was always warm.
“Okay, I'm ready,” Legend said quietly, drawing the attention of the rest of the group gathered around the fire.
The boys sitting in the flickering light of the fire drew in a collective breath. Legend began to read aloud from the ancient script of the spell book. Although no one understood the language, Legend spoke as though it were his second tongue. Perhaps all that practice had paid off.
As the spell came to an end, Legend's fist holding the hairs began to glow. His knuckles grew white and Time noticed Hyrule bracing himself behind his predecessor. This was clearly taking a lot out of their vet, and he hoped it wouldn't cause him any problems afterwards.
Speaking the final word, Legend opened his fist and let the hairs fall into the fire. The rest of the boys watched with bated breath, as the little strands of gold and bronze drifted down and disappeared.
Legend breathed a long sigh of relief and snapped the spellbook shut. The moment he did so he began to stumble backwards. Hyrule seemed ready for this however, and caught his brother easily in his arms.
“You okay Lege?” He asked softly.
“I'm good, just real tired,” he huffed breathlessly, his face a little paler than usual.
While Hyrule helped Legend to stumble over to his bedroll, the others stared around at each other.
“Did it work?” Asked Sky.
“How do we tell?” Warriors questioned.
“I could cut my self real quick?” Wild suggested.
“No!” Time and Twilight barked in unison.
Wild shrank back, his previously confident smile fading in an instant.
“No one's going to hurt themselves on purpose,” Time insisted.
“So what, are we just going to wait until someone does get injured and see if we feel something?” Asked Four, sounding irked. “That's not very scientific.”
“Scien-what?” Sky mumbled, looking confused.
“Don't worry feathers, it's a future thing!” Wild chuckled. “Come guys I really don't mind. Besides, if Rulie is feeling okay he can heal me right away anyhow.”
Wild stared around at the others as Hyrule returned from tucking Legend into his blankets. The spell had almost drained the veteran and within a few moments of laying down in his warm bedroll he had drifted off to sleep.
“How's Lege?” Asked Warriors, nodding to the small lump beneath the blankets.
“Sleeping, that spell used up most of his magic. A good night's rest and a potion in the morning and he'll be right as rain.”
“What do you think, Rulie?” Wild cut in. “Wanna test whether the spell worked with me?”
“You want to hurt yourself don't you?” Hyrule sighed.
“Let me get this straight for you. I don't want to hurt myself, I want to help everyone else!” Wild insisted.
While Wild was trying to explain himself and Time and Twilight continued to insist that this was not going to happen, Wind and Four happened to catch each other's eye.
“You thinking what I'm thinking?” Four whispered.
Wind nodded. Four gave the sailor a knowing smirk as the pair of them shook out their left hands.
SLAP
All eyes snapped around to see the two smallest heroes rubbing their cheeks.
“What the hell are you two playing at?” Time bulked, staring at the two boys with disbelief.
“What?!” Four exclaimed, nursing the steadily growing red mark upon his face. “We needed to test the spell, but we didn't need a serious injury to do it.”
“The real question is did anyone else feel it?” Wind pointed out.
“I'm guessing since we're the only ones rubbing our faces that the answer is obvious,” Four remarked.
He gazed around with violet eyes, searching for any hint of pain or discomfort from the others.
“I didn't feel anything,” said Wars.
“Me neither,” added Sky.
“It seems the spell worked then,” Time sighed. “Well, I'll have to congratulate Legend when he wakes up. And well done to you too Four for finding the right spell.”
“I'm just glad it's over.”
“Maybe we can learn something from it though.” Warriors mused. “We have become a bit too reliant on potions and Hyrule's healing abilities. I for one know I've let my guard forms slip, perhaps I should come up with a training regimen for everyone?”
With an enthusiastic smile plastered to his face, Warriors looked up to gauge the Chain's reaction to his suggestion. Not one face was smiling back at him. In fact, Four and Wild looked about ready to murder him.
“Alright Captain,” Time said coolly. “Let's start with how to defend against a horde of enemies. While you're unarmed!”
Without a seconds warning, Time lunged for Warriors. His larger frame pinned the younger hero to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. While some of the others began to roar with laughter, others got the idea. Wild was the first to join in, leaping with joy as he piled on top of Warriors. Adding to his discomfort by tickling his stomach where his shirt had ridden up.
“Oh please no!” Wars screeched, in a high pitch voice none of them had ever heard before.
As more of the boys moved to help Warriors with his training, Twilight hung back. He clutched his stomach as he roared with laughter. Managing to disguise the gentle rub of his stinging cheek as he leaned on his hand.

Morning Grind [Chain + Reader]
Adventuring is difficult. Mornings are worse.
Another one for the pile, surprisingly enough!
Masterlist
TW: None.
Disclaimer: Don't own The Legend of Zelda franchise. Linked Universe is the fan creation of jojo56830.
---
There's hair piled up in a tangled heap across your face and neck, sticky and damp where it pressed against the flushed heat of your sleep-warmed forehead and cheeks. Oily slick and grimy to the touch. Stale sweat and musk emitting an unpleasantly bitter scent right into your face (sweet too, like overly ripe apples. but unpleasant nonetheless).
The mass of bed head shifted, dragging across your drool sodden face in slow, halting jerks. A groan rasped from the lump the hair begun bundling around, and your eyes opened (sticky and crusted and deeply unhappy) to the sight of Wild turning in his sleep.
Still groggy from interrupted slumber, you stared listlessly at the man's face. Dazed and half conscious. Eyes stinging against the wet press of your (irritating) eyelids and (even more irritating) lashes.
Wild was handsome for sure. Delicate, noble-borne features crafted tenderly around a fine, bold facial structure. Plush lips, high cheekbones and a narrow chin that belied the strong jaw supporting it. And lashes for days. Perhaps the most striking of the Chain, beaten out only by Twilight (who didn't count in your opinion, because the man was a walking fur coat even when Wolfie wasn't present) and Sky (who had the pretty boy role down to an art form and managed to woo over a Goddess' incarnate with it. so he didn't count either).
None of these things caught your attention though.
No. What caught your eye (out of everything. out of all the features a man such as a Link could offer to the world) was the little red bumps lining the underside of his jaw and across one sleep flushed cheek. The ruffled little turf of brow hair twisted in the wrong direction on one side. The uneven stubble shadowing his upper lip and chin and crawling a fine line below his ears.
Your eyes lingered mindlessly on the crack (healed now, but you vaguely remembered how it'd bled and bled when it first happened) on his dry lips, and the white, flaky corners of his mouth.
His breath reeked of onion and vinegar when he breathed (open mouthed and snorting) into your squinty-eyed face. Pulling a frown to your lips as you hazily wondered why it smelt different from dinner the night before.
Wild snorted again. More vinegar and onion (and now garlic too. the garlic was what was different), and your blurry, sleep-deprived eyes narrowed in sudden realization.
You reached out (fighting the cold sting of early morning to do so. the heavy drag of fatigue), put a firm hand on Wild's shoulder and pushed him with all your might (just managing to roll him out of his bedroll).
"You sneaky little bastard! You said there wasn't any more garlic!" You huffed grumpily in betrayal, feeling naught an ounce (well, maybe just a tiny smidge) of pity as Wild whined pathetically and reached tiredly for the warmth of his covers.
Which you pulled away (spitefully). Eyes brimmed with hellfire. "Freeze to death and die, betrayer!"
A groggy groan from Wars, who was unfortunate enough to have been sleeping closest to you both last night (Wind having kept him up late the night prior as well. fitful and energetic, even in his dreams). His hands and pillow sadly unable to block the (rather heartrending) pleas for forgiveness (and his bedroll) from Wild.
At least Wind slept like the dead through it. (Ornery little sea mutt.)
Across the camp, a wild fluff of unruly blonde and pink had bolted upright at the exact same time as your indignant accusion. Wide-(and far too awake to have been sleeping)-eyed and crazed in the steep angle of his brow.
Legend pulled Hyrule upright by the front of his vest (because of course the little wildling slept fully dressed). "Rulie! I fucking knew it!"
Hyrule whined, eyes glued shut with eye gunk and nose stuffy from sleep. Weakly pulling at Legend's clutched hands. "Le~gs~. I'm ti~r~ed~."
If possible, Legend's brows took an even deeper dive. But before he could open his mouth a truly activate rant mode, he was interrupted by a very, very unhappy Sky.
"Stop yelling or I'll give you a reason to be screaming this early."
Dead quiet. The crickets begun their song once more. A bat swooped over head, just skimming the firelight's reach. The camp now a moth less than before.
A sigh of contentment, and Sky eventually drifted back to slumber (no doubt he'd forget all this next he woke).
"Goodness," Red hummed softly, just above a whisper as he chewed on his coffee (if the black, pulpy sludge could be called that). "I thought Blue woke up grumpy."
Across the fire Time chuckled, half-lidded eye watching with fond amusement as Wild finally managed to kiss ass back into your good graces (and his bedroll). And Hyrule managed to get back into Legend's by nuzzling his side and whimpering pathetically until he was forgiven and petted back into light slumber. "When we visit my Hyrule next, I'll let you meet the Beast of Lon Lon Ranch."
Red stopped chewing his coffee and blinked owlishly up at the older man (question clear in his eyes). And Time just smiled, taking a mouth full of coffee and chewing past the bitter grit and sting. Smiling mysteriously into the fire.
Only to choke a few moments later.
"It gets worse the longer you chew." Time whispered in something like horror, staring at the coffee(?) with morbid curiosity.
Red just smiled. "When Vio comes back, I'll have him brew you 'Shadow's Spite'."
Time blinked at him in disbelief, and Red just smiled (mysteriously).
And so begins another morning.
---
I retreat back to the shadows.

"[Name], what is that?" The Vet's question was more of a demand than anything. His gaze was locked onto your forearm, covered in bandages.
It seems his stony words caught the attention of the rest of the group, them acting confused for a second before their eyes followed the same trajectory of Legend's.
"This?" You asked puzzled. "You seriously haven't noticed it before?" You've been travelling with them for almost a month. I mean, to be fair, you did almost always wear something with long sleeves, but it's not like you've gone out of your way to hide anything.
"What is that?" He insisted, grabbing your arm as the bandages come loose, revealing the multiple scars, burn marks, puncture wounds, irritations, cuts and other injuries below. His eyes widened upon seeing the damage, even if it was clear it had long healed already. "Why didn't you say anything earlier? How- what- when did this even happen?"
You yanked your arm back, sending a little glare at the hero. "I'm fine. You don't need to worry about this."
"No, you're not 'fine.'" He bit back, making air quotes to emphasize his point. "Rulie, do we have any spare potions? Someone's been an idiot."
The boy began rummaging through his sack with haste. "Don't waste your breath." You cut him off. "This isn't something a potion can heal. Besides, these scars are old. I've had them since before I met any of you."
Legend pointed at one of the irritated patches. "What? This one's clearly newer."
"What caused this? This doesn't look like any injury from a monster." Wars took his place next to you, examining the spot the veteran was talking about.
"That's because it's not-"
"Who did this?" Multiple people spoke at once. you were certain that Legend and Wars were two of them, given how they've practically shoved their faces into yours, dead set on interrogating you for answers. You think you heard Wind and Twilight in there, maybe Four? You weren't quite sure.
"You're too close." You grumbled as you leaned back a little.
"Who?"
You sighed. "I did."
A quiet breeze wafted throughout the camp.
"Come again?"
"I'm an apothecary; I make medicines, I make poisons. What else am I supposed to test on?"
"POISON?!"
Ah, crap. Probably should have left that part out. Well, you can say "goodbye" to your beloved stash of poison snacks.

wild pisses off a cucco in order to use them to kill a enemy for funny purposes, it horribly backfires and hyrule ends up dead because he got caught by surprise by the feathered death cloud due to cucco not existing in his games lmao
RULIE NO 😭😭😭😭😭
Honestly, the funniest thing about botw/totk was weaponizing the cuccos against enemies
The amount of videos of people using cuccos to kill lynels in botw is hysterical

Whumptober Day 14 - Shivering (left for dead)
Pretty much used an alt for this one, I didn't much like the prompts lol. Though 'left for dead' sliiiightly fit, so I'm counting it a little bit. But mostly not.
Warnings: panic attack, drowning, throwing up
ao3 link
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The water was rising.
Hyrule tried not to let his legs shake as it lapped at his feet, the chain securing him to the ground already covered by the water. He was on his knees, unable to stand due to how short the chain attached to the manacles around his wrists was, and he tried to steady his breathing as the water began to soak into his pant legs.
He could hear Wild above him trying to break through the grate in the ceiling, something clanging as he slammed it against the metal. It didn’t sound like he was making much progress, and Hyrule forced back a tremor as a wave licked at his hands.
“Champion,” he called in voice he thought he did a pretty good job of keeping steady, “any headway?”
He received a growl in response. “This metal is crazy thick, I can’t pry it up. It’s the wrong kind for magnesis too, and I can’t pick the lock, I think it’s magic.”
A beat of silence.
“How high is it now?”
“Almost at my hips,” Hyrule said just loud enough for Wild to hear, and he heard another loud clang.
It was silent apart from Wild's vain efforts for a minute, and Hyrule shivered as the cold water lapped at him.
“Rulie, I think... I think I’m going to have to go find the others,” Wild said in a distantly panicked sort of voice. “I can’t get this off.”
Fear leapt into Hyrule’s throat. “You’re sure?”
“I’ve tried everything, it won’t even melt under a meteor rod, I... will you be okay if I go?”
Hyrule swallowed back a tremor of fear, and nodded, then remembered Wild couldn’t see him. “Y-yeah.”
“I’ll be back as fast as I can,” Wild promised, his voice pitched higher than normal with fear. “I’ll get Four or somebody, and they’ll be able to get this loose, no problem.”
“Okay,” Hyrule replied, telling himself he was shivering more from cold then anything else.
“I’ll be right back,” Wild repeated, voice determined.
Then he disappeared.
Hyrule breathed in, then out again, trying to steady his thudding heart. It wasn’t really all that quieter without Wild, but his absence felt like it had plunged the pit he was trapped in into a nearly suffocating silence.
A wave lapped at his legs, startling him, and Hyrule gave the chain another tug. It didn’t budge, same as always, and Hyrule felt the dull hum of magic suppression hit him again. He couldn’t use any spells to get himself out, and he didn’t have his pouch with him either.
The water kept rising.
It swirled over his lap, and Hyrule felt goosebumps raise on his arms and legs, the water unbearably cold. He shifted himself around a little, but it only served to send the water soaking up his shirt as well. A lump lodged itself in his throat as the water just kept rising, higher and higher, and Hyrule felt his hands begin to shake.
He didn’t like deep water. Never had. He’d never learned to swim, never had anybody to teach him, or give him instructions beyond “just kick your legs”.
He’d nearly drowned once on his first adventure when he’d been knocked into deep water by a monster, and Hyrule still sharply remembered the panic of trying to breathe in air and only getting water. Just barely dragging himself to shore, and then being unable to do anything except vomit up water, exposed and vulnerable on the shore.
Drowning showed up fairly often in his nightmares, and he just hadn’t been able to shake the terror that gripped him when he so much as waded through a particularly fast stream. He hated how sharply the fear affected him. When he’d gotten his pair of magic boots that let him walk on top of water on his second adventure, he’d cheered out loud.
But he was stuck here now. And the water was already up to his chest.
Hyrule shivered again, straining his ears for the sound of Wild’s return. All he could hear was the rush of the water as it flowed in from an unseen hole though, feel the small waves lapping at his chest. Sucking at him, pulling hungrily, lapping like they wanted to drag him down—
Hyrule realized he was gasping, and tried to steady his breath again, but his chest felt too tight. He tugged against the chain with much more urgency, but it still didn’t budge. No matter how hard he tugged and twisted and shifted around.
A bigger wave splashed in and reached Hyrule’s shoulders, and he tilted his head back, biting back a cry for Wild. If he was back he would say something.
If he came back.
A different kind of chill shook through Hyrule’s shoulders, and he swallowed, shivering in earnest now. Wild would come back. He would.
He may have only known the champion for a few weeks, but he trusted him, in battle and outside of it. Wild was his friend. He would come back for Hyrule.
It was getting harder to believe that as the water lapped at his neck, though.
Hyrule’s breath hitched, and he shook harder, his clothes completely soaked now. He’d tilted his head back as far as he could, but the occasional wave still brushed his chin, cold and hungry, and threatening to wash over his face.
“Wild,” he wheezed, voice barely legible over the sound of the water, “Wild please....”
All he could hear was the water swirling around him, cold waves churning.
Hyrule couldn’t stop the whimper that escaped him, and he tugged desperately at the chain, spluttering as a wave caught him in the mouth. Panic hit him at the same time as the water, and he yanked at it, breath coming in short gasps.
“Wild!” he yelled, voice echoing off the walls.
There was no reply.
“No no no no,” Hyrule gasped, straining up against the rising water as much as he could. “Please, not like this, not like this—”
The water cut him off as it washed over his mouth, and Hyrule frantically spat it out, straining as he tilted his head back.
Wild, where are you?!
“Hyrule!”
Hyrule almost thought he’d imagined the shout at first, but then a bluish shadow and faint impression of blond hair appeared in the grate above him, and he nearly choked on his relief. More figures joined it, and Hyrule was so relieved he almost breathed in a wave when it swamped over his mouth again.
“Hyrule, are you okay? How high is it?!“ Wild yelled.
“My chin,” Hyrule gasped back, the words almost lost in his panic. “Wild it’s at my chin I can’t—”
“Stay calm Traveler, we’ll get you out,” a different voice called, a little lower then Wild’s. Time maybe? Or the captain. Hyrule could barely hear. “You need to stay calm in case you need to hold your breath.”
Hyrule swallowed back a whimper, and heard some more talking he couldn’t make out because of the water lapping over his ears. The water was at his mouth now, and he had to take in most of his breaths through his nose.
“Hyrule? We think we can get the grate off in just a bit, how fast is the water rising?” Legend’s voice called down, and Hyrule swallowed.
“P-pretty fast,” he managed to call, voice shaking from the force of his shivering. “It’s almost over my face—”
Another wave cut him off, and Hyrule spluttered, breathing quickly through his nose. He couldn’t hear anything that anyone said next, and saw a wave wash towards him, fear striking his heart.
He sucked in the deepest breath he could manage, and it washed fully over his head.
It didn't recede low enough for air to reach Hyrule's mouth or nose, and he tried to keep his panic down as he held his breath, shaking so violently he was sure he was stirring up waves.
Please hurry please hurry, please guys, hurry—
The water fully engulfed him, and Hyrule forced himself to keep his eyes open, even though he could barely see anything. He had to be ready for when the others came down to get him.
Hyrule's chest hurt from both the panic and effort of holding his breath, a burning feeling traveling slowly through his middle. It started to grow unbearable the more time went by, and as water and blood roared in Hyrule's ears, the length of time and panic of being submerged finally got to be too much.
His chest constricted, and Hyrule sucked in a breath without meaning to, water flooding his lungs. He choked, trying to cough it up, but when he did he only breathed in more water.
Hyrule usually considered himself able to stay steady in a crisis, but the sheer helplessness of the situation finally closed around him like a vice, and he thrashed wildy, choking and struggling as more and more water filled his lungs. His chest felt like it was on fire, his eyes stinging, and a sobbing gargle spewed out of him as he kept trying and failing to breathe.
His vision began to darken at the edges, and Hyrule's strength began to desert him, water pressing in, swirling around him. Pulling him down into a deep abyss of terror and velvety darkness.
Hyrule gave one last weak thrash, dark blobs forming in his sight, and even his panic deserted him as all of his senses went black.
...
Until something slammed into his chest, and Hyrule's eyes flew open, a swirl of color and sound whirling around him.
He wasn't underwater anymore, but he gagged on a breath, a horrible gurgle accompanying the effort. Something slammed into his chest again, sending liquid spurting from his lips, and suddenly he was coughing, burning and aching in his middle, and someone rolled him over onto his side.
Hyrule retched, heaving water and bile onto the ground, and he began to shake so violently he wasn't sure he'd be able to ever stand still again. Someone was rubbing his back and saying something soothing in his ear, but all Hyrule could do was keep coughing and gagging, tears from the effort streaking down his cheeks.
Finally the worst of it was over, and Hyrule nearly collapsed sideways, strong arms catching him before he could fall in the puddle of everything he'd just coughed up. Hyrule took a few moments to sort through the fact that his wrists were no longer chained and he wasnt underwater, then dragged in a rasping, painful breath, and managed to open his eyes, blinking shakily.
Multiple pairs of eyes were fixed on him, but the closest were a bright azure, reddish with tears, soaked blond hair falling in his face.
Hyrule stared at Wild, watching a drop of water trail down his cheek, and Wild suddenly surged forward and grabbed him into a hug, keeping him in a position where he could still easily cough. Hyrule was shaking so hard he could barely return it, but he clutched back as best as he could, still coughing and shaking like a leaf, and so, so relieved.
He was out. He was alive.
The water hadn't won.
"Th-thank you," Hyrule managed to rasp, another exhausted, terrified cough escaping him.
Wild only nodded his head, and held him tighter, and they stayed like that until the others finally came forward to further fuss over Hyrule, and heal him up the rest of the way.

More ideas on @mizaruwu ‘s Necromancer Rulie AU
And art process time lapse
🫡❗️ mentions of 🩸 and 💀 under the video. Some body horror? And corpses.
Headcanons developed with @sea-salt-lemon-sugar @violet-xd09 and many others from the Chinese language LU server
After Hyrule had stolen the book on the blood ritual and found the heroes’ remains (!!), he felt very conflicted because he knew what he wished to pursue was unnatural and wrong. But after seeing Legend come back to life, he shed all thoughts of self-criticism and doubt and became completely relieved and obsessed with what he had done. (Rain’s)
This is especially ironic because the child who has been running away from a blood sacrifice has resorted to extreme means just to see the heroes again. What is wrong with not wanting to be alone?
Legend’s revival wasn’t perfect so his body kept trying to fall apart. Hyrule might need to administer a potion or apply it topically to Legend’s body to fix this, and he must do it periodically. This potion contains Hyrule’s blood.
Revived Legend had some memory of his past life and very vague ideas of his relationship to Hyrule. Legend kept looking for Ravio, but he wasn’t very sure who Ravio was. He just knew that Ravio was important. He might mistake Hyrule for Ravio (or his other friends) and carry out domestic interactions with Hyrule as if he were Ravio. And he would forget about what he’d done after waking up from a night’s sleep.
After finding out what Hyrule has done and what the potion contains, Legend realized this was horribly wrong and wanted to help Hyrule come out of this obsession. This would involve helping Hyrule deal with tremendous separation anxiety and guilt. His goal would be to stop Hyrule from periodically bleeding himself just to keep his dead body walking on borrowed time. In an ideal ending, Hyrule would let go and Legend would be laid to rest.
If so, even in death, Legend has helped and guided his successor one last time.
I hope you all enjoyed this! Happy Halloween.

A Thousand Ways
Chapter 13: "The Hero's Sister"
The chain gets to meet one of their own's sister… Hyrule and Legend also get adopted and neither is complaining.

----
The next shift, which arrived before they could reach Hyrule Castle, took them to Warriors' era.
It seemed whatever was throwing them from era to era only brought them to Legend's for him to arrive just when it was too late to save his grandparents.
Legend took about a week to get a hold of himself, then he was able to act as normal again, throwing off most of the group.
He didn't care if it confused some of them, or if they may have thought him heartless for not mourning his grandparents longer. Frankly he let their deaths affect him longer than usual... yeah, he was shoving the pain down until the quest eventually ended so he could break down and adjust himself to all the pain, but... He couldn't risk remaining compromised, emotionally or otherwise.
Epona couldn't cross through the portal, though Legend had anticipated that, and in the few hours between leaving the remnants of his grandparents’ farm and coming to the next portal. In that time, He enchanted an old flute of his with the three whistles from Holodrum as inspiration.
Epona assured him that it was as if the flute rang in her mind and his location was a homing beacon when they tested it. She promised to come find him when he called.
They went through the portal, and on the other side, Warriors claimed the land as his own. Soon enough, they were wandering some small town filled with people who clearly knew their resident hero.
Legend hadn't paid that much mind, his own era's towns were always filled with people who knew him, it came from helping them out all the time.
He lingered at a stall with some magic items, Hyrule pointing to one and asking the merchant about it. They received a decent sales pitch and description of the item. An ancient ring forged in dragon fire with the power to protect the wearer from flames.
Legend noted the magic itself was just basic flame protection and made a comment that it must be expensive if it was so rare, asking if he could see it. He was allowed to hold it, and then they were told it was a thousand rupees.
Hyrule frowned. "You know, that's so odd... See, we're something of magic users ourselves, and that's..."
"That's a basic fire protection charm on a... plain gold ring and those rubies have several visible imperfections," Legend finished. "I'm also a bit of an artisan, so between the two of us, we know our stuff."
Hyrule smiled sharply. "Sorry, give me your name again?"
"Uhh, Ar--"
"Arthur, right!" Hyrule's grin sharpened even more. "Why don't you put some time and effort into being honest and not selling fakes."
Legend snorted as the man tripped over himself to remove the fakes from his stall, and he nodded Hyrule to move on.
"Not bad, Rulie."
"Thanks. I hate liars, there's no way you could even forge anything short of steel in Dragonfire, unenchanted gold would turn to ash!" Hyrule huffed.
Legend snorted. "Not wrong there--"
"Hey! You!" Legend knew that voice. He turned and Linkle was there. "I didn't think you'd be back here! You look a lot better than last time I met you."
"I was half dead last time you met me," Legend deadpanned. Hyrule glanced between them. "Oh! This is Piyoko!"
Piyoko happily let Linkle pick her up.
Link! Link! She's like you! Piyoko declared. Hello, miss!
Linkle grinned. "Hi there!"
Hyrule tapped Legend's shoulder and he looked over. "Oh, this is Linkle. I ran into her last time I was in this era... I didn't actually know it was the captain's but yeah. She helped me out."
"Kid showed up half dead on my doorstep," Linkle said, cradling Piyoko in one arm as she held out her other hand to Hyrule. "You must be one of his time-traveling brothers then?"
Hyrule smiled and nodded. "Yep! Well--We're not brothers, but that's the easiest to say."
"Hey, brothers-in-arms is a term, it's not lying if you don’t specify," she responded. "I'm glad this guy actually has some gear now. Don’t you take after him, kiddo, he showed up on our doorstep covered in blood with only a knife--a single knife--as his defense."
Hyrule snorted. "His magic too, actually. And I'll take after him as much as I want, thank you, ma'am."
Legend rolled his eyes. "First of all, it was mostly monster blood, and secondly, I slaughtered two whole hordes of monsters with that knife and my magic. Also, don't tell him what to do--and you, don't copy me."
Hyrule just had this blinding grin while Linkle rolled her eyes.
"Hordes? Yeah right, gimme numbers over twenty and we can chat--"
"Fifty-seven with horde one, I remember somewhere around three times that, mass wise, with the second, but I also had some help there and I got my hands on a sword part way through."
Linkle whistled appreciatively. "We could've used your help with the war, and if this brother of yours--" Hyrule glowed a bit brighter, Legend noted that his successor definitely liked being connected to him, "--is anything similar, he would've been an asset too. Shameful of y'all not to show up back then."
"Ah, we've been busy."
"Time travel ain't restrictive, now, is it?"
Legend had to give that to her. However, before he could respond, he heard a familiar whistle. Wild was calling them to regroup.
"Ah, we have to go," Hyrule said. "Nice to meet you, miss Linkle."
"Nah, I'll tag along. Can't hurt to meet the rest of the time travelers, Lana would kill me if I didn't," Linkle waved them off. Legend swore he heard that name before, but he shrugged.
Hyrule frowned and looked at Legend, but he shrugged. "Piyoko likes her, and I trust her." As much as he could trust someone he didn't actually know. "Worst comes to worse, we meet with the others and Pretty Boy tries to kill her, so we help."
"One of your brothers are gonna try to kill me?" she asked bluntly.
"If he knows you and you're an enemy, then yeah, and we'd side with him," Legend admitted easily as Piyoko squirmed from Linkle's arms and landed on Legend's shoulder. "But I think you’re a good person so by all means you should be fine."
Linkle sighed. "And here I go, doing the one thing I told Momma I wouldn't do: risk being killed."
Hyrule snorted as they headed off toward in the direction Wild had whistled from. "Okay, no, I like her too. Can we keep her?"
"Eh, sadly she doesn't fit the whole Triforce of Courage, Master Sword, killed Ganon, or is a reincarnation of Sky's previous incarnation, and she wasn't dragged to join us by the goddess, so I don’t think so. Unless she is?" Legend raised an eyebrow at her.
She blinked. "Wait--If those are your "brothers-in-arms" group's requirements then--"
"Vet! Traveler!" Warriors called as they reached a market street. "What took you-- Linkle?!"
"Link! You absolute bastard! You told Ma you were on a sanctioned mission out west! Not some goddess-driven quest!"
Warriors tried to backpedal but Linkle was fast. She grabbed his collar and threw him into a nearby merchant's stall. The merchant, though startled, saw who it was and just sighed heavily... as if this was normal.
"Hey!" Sky reached for his sword.
"No! No--It's fine!" Warriors said quickly, getting up fast. His nose was bleeding, and he was holding it with one hand while his other rapidly waved Sky off. "She's my sister!"
"The sister you lied to!" She screeched. "Oh, Ma is gonna be so pissed! You lied to her! Yer out here time travelin' again an' recruitin' actual children?!" Linkle gestured to Legend and Hyrule, the former of which scooped Piyoko up from where Linkle had dropped her. "You told us it was a damned political venture to re-negotiate borders!"
Legend shared a wide-eyed glance with Hyrule. Then the others seemed equally shaken, yet most of the townsfolk seemed unsurprised, guards included and just gave them a wide berth.
"It was!" Warriors argued. "I just... Got portal-napped on the way and didn't tell you in the letters."
"You said the negotiations were going well in those letters!"
"They might've been! I didn't know!"
"Oh, you--!"
Legend stared with wide eyes as they fought. He leaned toward Wind.
"Is this what having siblings is like?"
Wind snorted. "Oh yeah, only when one of you fucks up."
Legend nodded slowly. Maybe he shouldn't tell Fable...
They watched as Warriors and Linkle argued, fought--bruised and bit arms-- and hurled insults 'til they turned blue. Then at some point their... altercation paused, and Legend decided to put all his bravery to the test to intervene, despite Twilight's and Wind's verbal protests to not.
"Linkle?" Legend entered the five-foot radius everyone gave the siblings.
"What?" She whirled onto him.
He held out Piyoko. "She didn't want to yell."
Link wants you to stop beating up the blue one! Piyoko chirped.
"Hey, snitch," Legend hissed.
"Vet, please put the psycho poultry away--"
"Psycho?! Piyoko is not psycho!" Linkle snarled. "She is an angel!"
"She actually tried to pluck the eyes out of Ganon," Legend admitted.
"Yeah! She actually... she what?" Linkle looked at him confusedly.
Legend grinned. "You heard me. But uhh, it is getting kinda late and I'd rather not be bothering the locals, despite how clearly used to this they are. So, inn and food?
He looked over at Time, who nodded. He seemed a bit surprised but mostly amused.
"Yeah, to the inn and get dinner," Legend repeated then held up Piyoko again, "or I'll sic' her on you and I promise you, she'll win."
Linkle blinked while Warriors just stared. Then the woman grinned. "I like this kid, Link. You found some good ones, but I claim these two."
"Wha--hey!"
"You had Mask and Tune! I'm claiming these two!"
"You’re not even on this quest!"
"I am now, bitch!"
You know? Legend liked Linkle, she was great.

Note
Saw the post about the Chain and their god domains and my greek mythos obsessed brain got scritched so here is the Chain as Greek gods/mythos:
Time: The old man gave me such a hard time. absolutely going insane over him. He’s Hades. being one of the big three (this fucker split the timeline (almost like how the underworld is split)). Ive never finished MM or OoT but i believe the lore is that all the masks are possessed to put it simply, thus the spirits granting link his power, making Time a maestro of the dead. Many interpretations of hades also depict him as cunning, a trickster, while also being stern, much like our resident little shit (affectionate). Hermes was a big contender here for that reason.
Sky: This was a toss up but im gonna have to say Zeus honestly, mister Godslayer himself. less of a connection between their personalities honestly and more just focusing on their similar dynamics, skills, and symbolism. Obviously we have our favorite lightning motif, plus the position of leadership they both share - in the sense that zeus is more or less the leader of the gods and sky being the ‘leader’ so to speak of the timeline. Plus the parallels between demise and kronos, and zeus/sky’s respective roles there. It was between the big man or persephone.
Twilight: Artemis!! Our very literal leader of the pack. Goddess of the hunt, patron of animals, domain over the moon (cough twilight cough). Though, Demeter and hestia were fighting me here, the fursona won over the country bumpkin sadge.
Warriors: You are Athena! badass in the arena! /ref. Honestly, i feel like i should be assigning them their ‘obvious’ gods and then give them one that attaches to them more symbolically. Yes, everyone’s favorite captain is THE captain goddess. Cunning, strategist, warhead, intelligent, and alot of people forget that Athena is both charismatic and incredibly physically beautiful, in most adaptations. she was in the lineup for paris and guided the trojan war. I forget who it was on here that is a big “wars = helen of troy” truther but theyre absolutely so correct.
Legend: Also a tricky toss up, but i ultimately landed on apollo. Apollo’s known for being a sort of jack of all trades god, between his dominion over the sun, medicine, music, archery, and more. With the vet’s all encompassing experience, with his multitude of instruments and proficiencies in different magical items it made sense. Me, personally, I loved the stories of apollos shape-shifting mortal ventures more than say zeus or any of the other gods. Also, depending on your characterization of the vet, their supposed personalities line up quite well, with apollo being charming and somewhat arrogant/snarky with others
Hyrule: This feels left-field but rulie gets to be Persephone! Adept with magic, goddess of fertility and the harvest and just general growth (of nature), with the double edge of being the queen of the underworld. Ugh im so obsessed with downfall duo rulie is so tragic. left with a desolate wasteland, yet (depending on characterization) ushering in and doing his damndest to nurture life and growth. I love the headcanons where rulie is a survivalist through and through, proficiencies in botany and herbology, respect for the land and its inhabitants.
Wild: Demeter! Wild is of the land, they are one and the same. The way his world is absolutely teeming with life, and the way he is molded to adapt and live with the land to complete his adventure,,, ugh its too good. He is the most in tune with the wolves, the bees, the cows, the reeds, the flowers, the dragons, the spirits, they ARE him. he woke up with NOTHING, except a vast land full to bursting with life and lessons.
Four: Hephaestus, obviously. dont get me wrong, I love four so much, but anything else felt blasphemous (The way i could write essays about it—). He is the god of blacksmithing, if i assigned him anything else i fear he may just manage to kill me.
Wind: Notos! God of the east Wind, known for the bringing of summer, cyclones, and warmth. love that funky little whirlwind hes so fun and spunky. being a god of wind was so on the nose it was too good. I didnt ever consider poseidon, winds too squishy and fluid for that. this kid is bouncing around like a cat 5 hurricane he is the wind, he is free (to cause chaos).
Ugh i love yapping about the mythologies. i may do this again except with minor gods/demigods (i will get back to that legend-achilles parallel i swear). I hope this was amusing to you
OKAY OKAY GO OFF!!!!
(I’m a huge Wars = Helen of Troy truther, I ain’t the only one, but I’ve yapped about it a lot akdkkdk)
you absolutely ate this up on my god i agree i agree i agree i agree. LEGEND AND ACHILLES?? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP IF YOU EVER FEEL LIKE YAPPIN ABOUT THAT THE FLOOR IS YOURS AND THE ASK BOX IS OPEN ID LOVE TO HEAR IT

remember when i apologised to legend and then never gave anyone (outside of the fruit bowl) context? here is some of that context (warning for an animal bite + blood mentioned)
The shock of it hits first, then the pain. The bite burns, and Legend kicks at the wolf until it releases its hold on his leg. He can’t tell how bad it is, can’t see through the blood. Or the tears.
He registers Twilight using that dumb crystal. Hears him scare the other wolf off. Doesn’t look, can’t look, because Wolfie might bite him if he moves. He might see a rabbit instead of a Hylian, just like that other wolf did, he might forget who Legend is and just want him dead.
Legend doesn’t look Twilight in the eyes when the other changes back and tries to look at Legend’s leg. He doesn’t speak, doesn’t dare move. Twilight won’t hurt him. He isn’t sure he’s even convincing himself of that, right now.
“We gotta get back,”Twilight sighs out. “Let Rulie take a look at it. Can ya stand?”
He doesn’t know. Doesn’t try. Doesn’t think he can.
Twilight ends up carrying him back. Legend can’t even relax — the pelt isn’t making things better. Would Wolfie bite him, if both the heroes ended up in their dark world forms at the same time? Would he forget who Legend is, and only focus on him being prey?
Would Wolfie bite him even in Hylian form…? He doesn’t really want to think about it, but it’s all his mind will focus on. It distracts from the bite, a little. It stings with every movement, but at least it’s stopped burning.
It hurts, though. He wants to sleep it off, but he can’t. It probably wouldn’t work, anyways. He feels himself being placed down onto the grass, back against a tree. He lets out the tiniest sigh of relief.
“Twi. What happened?”He thinks that’s Four. Legend isn’t sure.
“A wolf bit ‘im. Got ‘im bad, too, where’s Rule?”
“With Wild.”Maybe-Four responds, kneeling next to Legend’s side. “What d’ya mean a wolf bit him?”
“Clearly that a wolf bit ‘im! What else would that mean?” They go back and forth for a bit, but the veteran doesn’t listen. He just wants to sleep.
Twilight goes to fetch Hyrule, eventually. He relaxes a little. Lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
