RWBY VOL9X10 SPOILERS(?)

It felt like torture to watch. Torture to look upon the scene all over again. Grimm flying around the ship, and seeing Neopolitan herself fly off the ship. She watches carefully, her eyes growing sadder at how heartbroken the man in front of her looks.

"Neo!"

He reached his hand out to try to capture her in an impossibly long distance, almost as if that'd help. But it didn't. Of course it didn't. Neo tenses, her eyes growing sad as she sees Ruby climb back up onto the ship.

"I don't care what you say! We will stop them, and I will stop you! Bet on that!"

Neo doesn't do anything, watching Ruby dash towards Roman as an attempt to fight him. But Roman kept fighting back. But not in the way he was before. Did he really think that would kill her? She couldn't stand the thought of him being so broken over her flying over the airship. But then again, she couldn't stand the thought of anyone catching the two of them beforehand. But even so, fate decided to part the two.

Neo watches, her eyes puzzled. Was this truly going to be the last she sees of him? Before she... Changes? Before she... Ascends? Neo watches him yell in anger, his feelings bleeding with rage, and something only Neo could sense. Fear. Fear for her safety.

Neo doesn't do anything, her fists clenching. Before finally, Roman jumps away.

"As for me, I'll do what I do best... Lie..."

He raises one of his fingers, gritting his teeth.

"Steal..."

He slowly begins to step closer to Ruby, who slowly regains her balance, her body aching. She looked at Roman with narrowed eyes. Neo watched with sadness.

"Cheat..."

Roman finally raises his third finger, before his face contorted into a sinister grin. He brings his free hand to his cane, raising it up to hit Ruby. One. Final. Time.

"And survi--!"

She half expected to see him hit Ruby, before her eyes widen upon seeing the Grimm swoop onto the airship, shaking it slightly. Neo instinctively tries to run towards the man as the teeth of the Grimm sink into him and swallow him whole.

Neo tries to run towards him, tries to catch him, tries to scream out his name as a poor attempt to capture his ankle, or anything just to save him. But the fate ends the same. He falls into the creature of darkness, and Ruby kicks the Grimm backwards and slams into the airship. Then, Ruby makes her way off the ship.

Neo shuts her eyelids tightly, before sucking in a sharp breath.

'Oh, Roman...'

She thinks to herself, before opening her eyes. She's back in the dark void with the souls traveling around her. Neo looks around, almost surprised by the sudden shift in the atmosphere. There isn't faint sounds of Grimm screeching or the ship rumbling, only the silence, before the woman speaking to her softly.

"You have been led astray..." The woman speaks softly, before Neo turns, looking at the Blacksmith into her shadowy eyes, which somehow still gave a bit of kindness. A kindness that her aching heart feel it needs.

(This was based off of the interpretation of the tree showing Ruby a vision of her mother to somewhat explain a mystery Ruby has always wanted to know within, and that Neo would finally know what happened to Roman.)

I would like to preface this by apologizing for the... less than stellar recreation you'll read. The chapter of Bond in the Spy x Family story is so very, VERY long and there's so much going on that I don't think I could effectively redo it with RWBY characters. If any of you want to give it a shot, go for it. Learn from my failures. Anywho, here's the story of Bond starring Juniper as Bond.

Penny: Papa! Don't blame Mama! She can't help it if she has to take big- DOGGIES! OOH! AND KITTIES! BUNNIES!

Jaune: Penny, I want you to give me your word.

Penny: LET'S GO! BACK TO PAPA!

Roman: Huh?

Penny: ...

Roman: ...Well, that was easy.

Penny: WHY ARE WE BACK WHERE WE STARTED?!.

Roman: Alright, kid. Game's over. Neo, take care of her, (Raises leash) I've got the jackalope.

Neo: (Reaches for Penny)

Neo: (Spins into the ground)

Jaune: I'LL MAKE YOU REGRET TRYING TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER, YOU CHILD-STEALING PERVERTS!

Roman: Wha..?

Jaune: SHE'S NOBODY'S CHILD-BRIDE!

Roman: What the hell are you- Forget it! (Snaps fingers) Sic 'im!

Jaune: (Dog growls at him)

Jaune: (Dog yipes away)

Penny: P-PAPA!

Jaune: Don't cry, Penny. The mean doggy ran away now.

Penny: (Crying because scared of Papa)

Roman: (Dragging Neo away) Forget it! I'm done with you people! Keep the jackalope!

Penny: It's a rabbit!

Jaune: A jackalope, to be specific. They're a very rare breed.

Blake: ...It's the size of a horse. I don't think we can- Ack!

Juniper: (Nuzzling Blake)

Blake: Fine! Fine! Just get off me! (Sighs) How did you even find this thing?

Blake: Ugh... Sounds like such a mess... I'm sorry I couldn't have been there to help you, considering my... condition.

Jaune: It's no problem, really! Everything worked out just fine!

Blake: Maybe, but that wouldn't have happened if Penny didn't wander off on her own again. Speaking of, PENNY!

Penny: (Flinches)

Blake: I've already warned you about wandering off! You could have hurt, or even killed!

Penny: (About to cry)

Blake: (Hugs Penny) They didn't hurt you, did they?

Penny: No, because the bunny protected me!

Blake: (Thinking) This rabbit clearly isn't normal, but...

Blake: (Strokes Juniper's neck) Thank you for keeping my family safe.

Blake: What in the-?!

Juniper: (Shakes bush in antlers, Glove falls out)

Jaune: I never thought I'd see a rabbit carrying an entire juniper bush!

Blake: Saying it's a rabbit is already a bit of a stretch.

Penny: Joo-Nih-Per... Juniper! I'll name you Juniper!

Penny: (Dumps rabbit feed into bowl) Okay, Juniper! Time to eat!

Juniper: (Eats food)

Blake: You're supposed to be studying, Penny. You better be ready by the time I'm done in the bathroom.

One bathtime later...

Jaune: (Whispering) Blake! Blake, come look!

Jaune: They're so tired from playing all day, they fell asleep like this!

So not me coming back from the dead just to talk about the new characters, Gidel and Fellow Honest.

Like most people, I fell in love with these two when they were finally revealed but something about their appearances reminded me of a certain duo…

And I couldn’t think of it until now: ROMAN TORCHWICK AND NEOPOLITAN‼️

This might just be my delusional ass talking but let me explain.

- Both consists of a sexy and dapper redhead with long luxurious lashes, and fights/welds a cane.

- Both also have a short sidekick that’s mute.

- Are con artists (probably some tragic backstory behind it).

- Both duo have a familial relationship with each other.

- Allude to similar fairytales, Pinocchio in this case.

- Have beef with teenagers.

I could list more but since this event literally just came out, imma have to slow my ass down 💀 Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk tho

Roman is set to meet Neo's new girlfriend. She opens the door, and Ruby Rose comes in. It naturally leads to an... awkward dinner with all three.

(I can do that, though its probably less awkward for Neo)

Roman watched as Neo finished getting ready for her date, still curious about who his partner in crime had been dating these past few months. Not that he really cared, but at the same time, Neo had been acting differently ever since she mentioned she had a girlfriend. Their crime sprees seemed to be at a stand still in Vale, only ever going out to the villages just outside the kingdom walls or going to Mistral whenever they had a job. And that concerned him. “So, are you ever going to tell me who you’re dating?” 

Neo paused for a moment as she finished brushing her hair, then shrugged as she signed. “Maybe tonight.” 

“What do you mean maybe? I’m your best friend, your partner, surely you’d tell me who you’re dating.” 

“You’ll hate her.” 

“Hate her?” Roman asked with a scoff. “If she can put up with you, then I’m not sure I’ll hate her.” 

Neo smirked. “Great, she’ll be here for dinner.” 

Roman paused for a moment as he held his cane, staring at Neo when he realized what she had signed. “Hold on, you’re inviting her here? Why didnt you tell me?” 

“Because you were going out for a meeting.” 

“Well, I can put off going to that meeting if it means meeting whoever’s caught your eye.” 

“Dont say I didnt warn you.” 

Roman rolled his eyes and put his cane up, watching Neo as she finished getting ready for her date. He’d thought that after nearly ten years of living with her, he’d seen just about everything she could do, but watching her put on her makeup, use her semblance to try out various looks before finally settling on an outfit, and almost seem more excited for the night than she’d been for any of their jobs, it was almost as if he didnt know her as well as he thought.

It wasnt long until he heard a knock at the door and he opened with a smile. “And you must be Neo’s-” The smile on his face dropped as he stopped talking, staring at Ruby standing on their doorstep. “And what, exactly, do you need, Red?” 

Ruby looked away for a moment as she double checked the address. “I’m… here for Neo.” 

“For Neo. Right. And what do you need her for?” 

“A… dinner… date,” Ruby answered, holding back a bit of anger and a bit of embarrassment.

Roman paused for a moment as he took a quick look back at Neo who had a smile on her face. Then, it finally hit him why Neo thought he was going to hate her date. With an annoyed sigh, he moved out of the way of the door, and defeatedly motioned for Ruby to enter. “Welcome to our apartment.” 

Neo immediately ran to Ruby to hug her and started to walk her to the kitchen, signing away to her. Roman closed the door and watched the two, regretting that he had moved his meeting in order to meet Neo’s date. Ruby Rose, the thorn in his side for nearly five years by getting in his way at just about every turn of a job, the huntress that practically made it her mission to put him behind bars, and now she was standing in his kitchen, welcomed by Neo. The world suddenly made a lot less sense than it had a few minutes before. 

“I need to double check something, so stay here with Roman.” Neo signed very quickly before rushing into her room. 

Roman sat down, watching Ruby as she stood at the other side of the kitchen. A cruel joke, that’s what this had to be. The gods were just playing a cruel joke on him. Neo would never date his nemesis, there had to be something more to this. Maybe Neo had some dirt on Ruby or this was just a way to keep Neo out of trouble. 

He was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard Ruby move a chair and sit down across from him. “So… Red…” Roman did his best to keep from looking at Ruby, clearing his throat between his words. “You… you and Neo are-” 

“Dating.” Ruby said with a nod, looking away from Roman. “Y-yeah… we… we are.” 

“Right. And… how long?” 

“Does it matter?” 

“My partner matters to me.” 

“Two years.” 

Roman gave a quiet nod. Of course he knew it’d been two years, Neo hadnt been quiet about having a girlfriend. The only thing she’d been quiet about was *who* she’d been dating. Still, he was going to try to be civil about it all as long as Ruby was someone Neo cared about. “How?” 

“How?” Ruby asked. 

“How did you two start… dating?” Roman asked as he finally looked at Ruby. “I dont see how this didnt start as a way for Neo to get something.” 

Ruby took a moment to answer. “She saved me after a mission went wrong.” 

“What do you mean she saved you?” 

“I mean she saved me.” 

Roman frowned at the answer, but didnt argue as Neo came back out and started to bring over the soup she’d made. He got up to help her, pushing Ruby back down into her seat as she tried to get up. “You’re the guest, you dont have to help.” 

Neo smiled a bit and directed Roman to grab the rolls and bowls. “Get along with her,” she signed. 

“I’ll get along with her,” Roman said in a hushed whisper as he grabbed everything. “But I dont see why you’re dating her.” 

“Because I love her.” 

“I dont like this.” Roman sighed and finished grabbing what he was asked to grab and made his way back to the table, setting the bowls down along with the rolls as he watched Neo sit down next to Ruby and excitedly sign to her. 

Once the table was set, he sat down to eat an awkward dinner as he watched Ruby and Neo talk to each other as they ate. He couldnt help but quietly eat as he learned about what Ruby had been up to, the missions she had taken, and the jobs that she’d managed to stop, all while doing his best to keep from interrupting. Though, he was glad once dinner had started to come to an end.

“We’re going out,” Neo signed to him just before clearing the table. 

“Dont be out too late,” Roman said quietly as he watched Ruby help clear the table and follow Neo out. He had to admit, he hadnt seen Neo that happy in years and it was a breath of fresh air. He leaned back in his chair and let out a heavy sigh. “Of all people, why did it have to be Red?”

neo put her hair up into a messy bun as she was getting ready for school. she looked at her mismatched orbs in the mirror, god she was so quirky. as she was looking at the, her mom yelled for her to come down. "neo!!!" carmel yelled. neo ran down the stairs. her parents looked jolly. "we sold you to pay off all of our debt." then all of a sudden, a tall, ginger man walked into the room. "ello luv im roman torchwick innit."

So I know I sound like a broken record when I talk about Neo and Roman, but there is a lot about them. The excerpts selected are not only some of my favorite Gelato moments, they also have some great depth.

First one - Neo and Roman Introduction: Neo was assigned to get intel on Roman, however, this interraction reveals how Roman unintently helped Neo find her identity and be comfortable with it.

Excerpt Two - Returning "Home": After a few months, our duo came across data that could leak information about the society's elite, including Neo's parents. On their way, Neo transformed back into Vanille, the child her parents know. Upon noticing this, Roman says she should be herself, and to show her parents how "astounding" she is with a pat on her head. This gentle embrace makes her feel safe and more at home than any moment where at the house she grew up in.

Excerpt Three - A True Friend: When Neo and Roman arrived at the Vanille's mansion, Neo's parents where running out of the hiuse, confused about the chaos. Her father notices her and calls her by whats basically her deadname at this point, and Roman stands up for her and tells her parents her preferred name. He even mentions how he knows her more than her own parents while they only known each other for a few months.

Excerpt 4 - Care: While in the mansion, Roman and Neo come across the family potrait. Roman can see how much this place bothers her, how she isn't comfortable. He comments on the potrait and Neo shifts it to match her more. Another example on how he is helping her find herself!

Roman Holiday gave us so much about these two, and there is tons of ways you can interpert and anaylize it; this was just my version. The list of why I love them keeps growing.
