y’all before talking about jokes in house md that wouldn’t fly today, i beg you to check the writers first.

much (not all, but much) of house md was written by the gays themselves, and they deserve to have their work understood in its full context before it’s assumed to be genuinely homophobic.

there is, of course, nuance regarding how the majority of people would have received these lines and how the writers were certainly aware of that. but, still, a good amount of house md was meant to have in-jokes, made by queer writers for queer viewers.

I love how much chase sees house as a father figure. When he thought house had cancer he was the only person who broke into tears and hugged him. He ALWAYS seeks validation from house. When cameron said she was going on a date with house, his first response was "he's so old". He is only 45 in s1 btw so not that old. He was weirded out because in chase's head, cameron is going on a date with his proxy dad when she has previously rejected his advances. He betrays house to vogler because he wanted to keep working with him. He doesnt leave house until house tells him that chase learned everything he could from him and fires him like a mama bird pushing baby out of the nest. And he comes back because he misses working with house. We all thought it was going to be foreman but no one deserves to be house's successor more than robert chase himself.

Knowing “Nerdy Prudes Must Die” was the first idea the Lang brothers had for Hatchetfield makes the whole series so much funnier.

Like, did they know in “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” that the weirdo who demanded a hot chocolate would be the leading man of the high school horror show?

Did they know the prude they mentioned a few times would be a homophobic murderer who defiled a corpse, fucked a ghost, and became a vessel for dark lords?

Was the homeless man joke in BEFORE the recast because they were still brothers, or not?

Just started watching House and this is my initial impression:

House: this disgusting person is sick and this is the disease they have *something rare and strange*

Cameron: I trust House’s diagnoses! But also no it’s probably an autoimmune disease…

Chase: nope it’s drugs/alcholol

Foreman: no it’s a neurological problem

Wilson: it’s probably cancer

(It is none of the above)

*they do tests and rule out House’s initial theory*

House: damn i was wrong. so it’s probably this instead *something just as rare and strange* and we need to do *something dangerous and unethical* to treat it

Literally everyone: no that’s stupid and dangerous it’s probably just this *common thing with less dangerous treatments* so we’re gonna treat the patient for that instead of what u said to do

The patient: *is dying from incorrect/lack of treatment*

House: *does something crazy unethical and dangerous to save the patient’s life and ends up being correct*

Literally everyone: wow who knew House would figure something like that out even though he literally does this every week. That’s crazy lol anyways I’m gonna go on not believing him again next week bc he’s a Vicodin junkie and crazy 🤪🤪

you can talk about kinning and what exactly it entails and if it's cringe all you want, but in reality noone will ever top robert redford exploring the outlaw trail on horseback to experience it exactly like his fave the sundance kid, moving to utah where they shot the movie and the outlaw trail crosses trough and then also naming everything from the resort he owns there, over his institute to a film festival after him. you cannot top this level of kinnie behaviour. like everytime you hear about a film being a Sundance winner I want you to remember that it's only bc robert redford loved some guy more than you will ever be able to love your particular some guy

He's been fighting and is covered in his and Dracula's blood and is absolutely beautiful. Look at him, owning his mistakes and then finally fully taking himself back. Taking his own name back Contrasted to the confrontation in his apartment where he's cowering away and still using the book as a literal weapon, seeing him remember he's strong and remember he can fight, and then turning that back on Dracula for himself is just *chef's kiss *
