Surety Bond Underwriting: An Overview
Tumblr media
Surety bond underwriting is a pre-approval evaluation – performed by the surety – of the bond performance requirements as determined by the obligee. This evaluation also assesses the current financial situation of the principal in order to weigh up the risk related to the performance criteria and the principal's ability to reimburse the surety in the event of a claim occurring.
What Are the Stages of the Surety Underwriting Process?
The process starts with the principal applying for a surety bond through a surety bond broker or surety company. Upon application, the principal provides information to the surety regarding their business and financial history. Once this is received the surety performs a more detailed evaluation of the information provided. The surety then provides the principal with a quote for a surety bond premium, based on the risk level determined by the underwriters.
The principal has three options at this point. They can accept the quote and buy the surety bond, shop around for another quote or work with the surety to find ways of making their premium more affordable
What Are the Three Cs of the Surety Underwriting Process?
The three Cs of surety underwriting are capital, capacity and character. Capital relates to the applicant’s capital position and the assessment of the financial health of the company or individual applying for surety credit. Many bonds require an underwriter to perform a financial analysis to assess net worth, capital and the company’s trajectory. The applicant’s capacity to undertake and perform the contract is a vital part of the underwriting process, too. To this end, underwriters collect questionnaires, check previous work references, review the applicant’s business operations, get to know their processes and meet with the applicant themselves.
Finally, character. While this element can be very difficult to underwrite, there are tools that can be deployed, such as credit checks, to get a better idea of whether the potential principal is likely – or otherwise - to honour the obligations set out in a bonded contract.
Underwriting a Riskier Surety Bond
Experts in the fields of surety, such as Rob Tolley, former London broker, know that there are various ways an underwriter can approve even a riskier bond by minimising the risk to the surety. For example, additional capital may be required to approve it; this could range from a small percentage of the bond amount up to 100%. This collateral minimises the surety’s risk, as if a bond claim occurs that cannot be indemnified the surety has something to cover – or at least reduce – their loss.

My take on false son! (Very, very WIP)
I thought his design was insanely good conceptually, but missed a lot of potential in the personality it could convey. I wanted to really get across how his body is a dilapidated statue.

Would kill to read animal POV fiction that has the animal POV’s interaction with humans be like, semi realistic to the level of caution most predators take with large prey and/or competitors (including humans).
Like instead of the usual - “the human is such a weak, pathetic creature... so slow, no claws, blunt teeth… completely helpless without its 'Fire Sticks'. how is it the master of the earth?” type crap it’s like, the bear protagonist or whatever approaches some dude who spreads their arms and yells and the bear is like “FUUUUUUUUCK THAT THING JUST GOT HUGE. IT'S LARGE AND MAKING NOISES. HOLY FUCK.”
#A lot of this realm of fiction tends to severely overestimate how physically weak humans are in the grand scheme of things..#A human body ft. no tools has a pretty average level competency at escaping predation. WITH tools it's significantly above average.#Like a lot of human physiology IS the way it is because of reliance on tool/fire use but interspecies competition/predation is really not#a literal battle won by physical strength + teeth + claws (at least until the actual process of killing)#Intimidation and shows of strength/threatening behavior can go a long way. Healthy predators (who aren't unnaturally#accommodated to humans) are generally going to be cautious and may avoid confrontations they absolutely COULD win because#the risk of injury is judged as too high#And most animals can't weigh risks in the most objective manner and won't understand that you aren't any 'bigger' just because you#wave your arms and yell. That is why puffing up/spreading out as a threat display is so ubiquitous in nature.#Massive tangent but this is why I fucking loved Prehistoric Planet so much like the commitment to having its dinosaurs behave like#actual animals is fantastic and tragically rare#Like having a scene where a T Rex gets bullied away from a carcass by two much smaller azhdarchids.. Yeah that is probably#how it would behave. It's not a mindless killing machine it's an animal so is going to avoid confrontations it deems too risky even if it#WOULD win in an all out brawl. thank you so fucking muych.

Drv3 chapter 1 AU where instead of the motive being a time limit, Monokuma amplifies everyone's personality every day. For example:
Kaede: Her determination will be amplified daily. This isn't too bad to begin with, but the longer her determination increases, the more risks she'll take. For example, pushing people to do the tunnels, even when they're at their limit. Risk level: moderate
Rantaro: His insecurity will be amplified daily. The longer the motive drags, the more wary he will become. If the motive drags too long, he'll eventually become so distrustful, he'll actively avoid everyone, convinced everyone is possibly the mastermind. Risk level: increases the longer the motive remains active
Ryoma: His hopelessness will be amplified daily. The longer the motive lasts, the more hopeless Ryoma will feel. Risk level: moderate/high
Kirumi: Her selfless devotion will he amplified daily. This isn't too bad at first, but the longer the motive remains active, the more dangerous requests Kirumi will accept. Eventually, she'll even offer to help someone get away with murder, if that is what they desire. Risk level: increases the longer the motive remains active
Angie: Her positivity will amplify daily. As the days pass, Angie will become more positive about being trapped. This isn't too bad, but she'll also convince everyone that staying trapped isn't too bad, which will lead to arguments. Risk level: moderate
Tenko: Her emotions will amplify daily. As the days pass, the more intensely she'll experience her emotions. When she's happy, she's REALLY happy. When she's sad, she's REALLY sad ect. Risk level: low
Korekiyo: His intrigue will amplify daily. The more time that passes, the more Korekiyo wants to observe what's going on. He'll actively seek out information about everyone and his surroundings, which will make him more pushy and nosy. If he sees you, expect to be followed and asked several questions. That being said: Risk level: low/moderate
Miu: Her insecurity will amplify daily. The longer the motive lasts, the more Miu will be convinced something bad will happen to her. If the motive lasts too long, she'll take matters into her own hands to keep herself safe. Risk level: increases the longer the motive remains active
Gonta: He becomes more gullible the longer the motive lasts. He'll become too trusting. If the wrong person talks to him, the consequences might be fatal. Risk level: moderate
Kokichi: His paranoia will amplify daily. The longer the motive is in play, the more distrustful Kokichi will become. That being said, murder is the last thing on his mind. Just don't startle or corner him. Risk level: moderate
Kaito: His encouraging nature will amplify daily. For the first few days, this isn't too bad. However, if too much time passes, Kaito will go from encouraging to pushy, which might cause arguments. Risk level: moderate
Kiibo: For some reason, Kiibo is not affected, which he finds robophobic.
Tsumugi: Her plain nature will amplify daily. Nothing about her changes, but everyone will eventually forget that she even exists (apart from Kiibo.) This is great for her; no one will even consider to hurt her. Risk level: Tsumugi? Never heard of her
Shuichi: His insecure nature will amplify daily. The longer the motive is in play, the more hesitant and insecure Shuichi will become. As the days pass, the more Shuichi will struggle to even make basic decisions. He can, however, be pushed around more easily. Risk level: low
Maki: Her wary nature will amplify daily. The longer the motive lasts, the more Maki will isolate herself, unable to trust anyone else. That being said: Risk level: low
Himiko: Her exhaustion will amplify daily. The longer the motive lasts, the more Himiko sluggish Himiko will become. If the motive lasts too long, she'll lose her desire to do anything. Risk level: moderate

the Sully kids' reaction to Jake saying Spider "knew everything" breaks my heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they knew him better than anyone else, better than their parents. they knew his love for Eywa, for Pandora, for The People, for the clan, for their family. they knew he would never tell the RDA anything... not willingly at least.
they knew they were leaving because Spider would be tortured for information, he'd be forced to reveal their home, their plans, their numbers, their weaknesses. their brother would be tortured and they were being forced to leave him behind.
they knew they were being forced to find a new home, without their brother, because their dad knew he would be tortured.

i do really like modern trek for the most part but god i wish the aesthetics and fashion were less blatantly modern. give me fun patterns! sparkly fabrics! impractical architecture! eyeshadow! like sure it's camp and fun and visually interesting but it's also a sign of worldbuilding. if the characters are in a post-utopian society of course they're spending time on constantly reinventing impractical fashions. you can counter it with the supremely practical and simple styles from characters without the Federation post-utopian privilege. give us some alien fashions that illustrate cultural differences that don't look like they came off of a high end fashion catalogue.
(also this is about live action trek, don't worry lower decks and prodigy, you're doing great)

When you route to most of the moons in the game, the autopilot just tells you to enjoy your flight, but sometimes -- and it seems to be consistent for each moon, not randomised like the company monster's lines -- it'll instead give you an ominous "Good luck."
Specifically, on Embrion, Titan, and Adamance.

your tags ohh my godddddd. evbo ascended before he ever even ran for the first time. an entire caste of people forced to their feet and barely able to even shamble them every day to get their meager scraps. evbo lived like that for 5 years. maybe as he gets his iron boots, somewhere else another player spawns for the first time and falls down to the pro level. the first thing they do as a true member of parkour society? is sprint. evbo’s stomach pangs.
HOLY SHIT ANON you absolutely get it.
I don’t know how I forgot to mention it, but oh my god the hunger, the constant hunger that accompanies being a parkour noob. And because it is all they’ve ever known they think it’s normal. And wow like even in the videos Evbos delight at the cooked beef is heartbreaking. Especially because there is so much of it that they are just withholding from the other noobs. And and, did you know the first shot in the entire movie is Evbo looking at a furnace ? Why would they even have those in their house, just to mock them ??
But yeah, I think about how the raw food is ever just enough to get them to the next day. And to try and conserve that little hunger you have to do nothing, just wait in your house- for the next day. And in doing so the parkour noobs can’t even practice parkour without risking starving from it. The system is so stacked against them and they don’t even know it.

being a hobbyist artist and a professional in STEM is making me go utterly insane bc as an artist i have a visceral hatred of all things AI generated and it's so blatantly clear the danger it poses and cases where it already has been used to cause harm are extremely well known from day one but then you clock in to your job and a good chunk of your coworkers are like "yaaaay hooray yippee AI art i love it im going to use it to make figures for my upcoming paper yaaaay" and then i suffer an aneurysm and die
