it's really interesting there are ex-nightmare court people. they're like i don't want to be evil anymore
#YEAH#like it's deeply ingrained into Endobelles' lore that the Nightmare Court would have good points if not for the Nightmare itself#to him Dreamers‚ Courtiers‚ and Soundless are all chained to the tablet#just in different ways#Nightmare Courtiers genuinely believe they're making a difference and doing good for the world by embracing Nightmare#the overall lack of actual free will among sylvari is a big thing explored with Endobelles#sure they have the choice to do what they do but their culture is surprisingly militant#you do something wrong in the Grove you're immediately banished and ousted from the rest of your people#then Dreamers balk at how people could POSSIBLY be swayed to the Nightmare Court#which is just the more brutal version of the same militant pressuring to conform#the ''good'' ones wash their hands of you if you do anything out of line and throw you to the Nightmare#the Nightmare Court pressures and abuses you to keep you trapped if you want to leave#it says a lot that some sylvari in the Grove talk about wanting to leave and a sylvari PC immediately asks if they wanna go to the Court#it's something I think about a LOT and include in other sylvari's story with Endobelles too#especially with Canach they're both parallels of having no true freedom to reject a forced calling in the first place#Canach through being completely ignored and Endobelles through being honed since the Dream and getting a Wyld Hunt as a front#to make it seem like it was ''fate'' and not specifically what he was beaten into being#it's why he's so cruel at times and straight up functions on fear if people won't respect him#scares them into compliance if it means he can do his job as the weapon he is and protect the world#fave#GW2#Guild Wars 2#gw2 sylvari
