Recount Possibility Update:
There’s some new speculation that the Harris/Walz campaign might be quietly moving towards requesting a recount despite nothing being publicly announced.
The speculation mostly comes from supporters noticing that the messaging at the bottom of Harris/Walz campaign emails and donation page has changed.
While the campaign previously simply thanked supporters at the end of its emails and donation page, it now includes a message that claims a portion of donations will now be put towards the “Harris for President’s Recount Account.”
Nothing regarding a recount has been directly announced by the Harris/Walz campaign.
NEW Campaign Fine Print:
Check out the fine print yourself (scroll to the bottom, no pressure to actually donate):
Video speculation (can watch through browser):
WSJ Article Excerpt:
Wall Street Journal: “Harris Fundraising Fine Print Signals Recount Effort”
[ID:
Two screenshots.
The first is a screenshot of a portion of new fine print included on the Harris campaign donation site. It reads:
"The first $41,300/$15,000 from a person/multicandidate committee ("PAC") will be allocated to the DNC. The next $3,300/$5,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Harris for President's Recount Account. The next $510,000/$255,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from these states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY. Any additional funds will be allocated to the DNC, subject to applicable contribution limits. A contributor may designate their contribution for a particular participant by contacting [email protected]. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution."
The second is a screenshot of the WSJ article on the possibility of a recount by the Harris campaign. It reads:
"The Harris Victory Fund-a joint fundraising committee that allocates contributions to her campaign, the Democratic National Committee and to state Democratic committees- quietly updated the information on its donations page on Wednesday morning. The donation page now says that a portion of money donated to the fund will be allocated to "Harris for President's Recount Account," signaling that Kamala Harris's team is gearing up to watch the count of votes in contested states closely. "This is a razor thin race. We need your help to make sure every vote is counted," it says. The Harris campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment."

what state r u in? (all 50 or pairs of 2-4) w/ a "not in us" option
i am using regions to split them up, but mountain and west north central are split up because it looks like those are the largest regions (im not positive i didn’t actually fact check, maybe i should’ve done south atlantic since it is so large and has more states). i split them up the way i did based on my knowledge of the landscape, and i know that’s not exact because at least some of these states have v diverse landscapes but i did my best!
- if you want to submit a poll, you can on my blog! any and all suggestions are appreciated :)

It says, “All but two Democratic senators just voted to:
-give Israel $3.8B in weapons, violating US law

Every single time Democrats lose they want to do away with the Electoral College, every single time. In the last 200 years there have been over 700 proposals in Congress to do away with or reform the Electoral College.
There are 3 ways to remove or change the Electoral College, none are viable:
1. A Constitutional Convention. This is the Nuclear option and the one least likely to ever happen. A Constitutional Convention would put every Right you ever had on the table for change or removal. A Constitutional Convention is not limited in scope, meaning if California wanted to removed the 2nd Amendment like they have talked about in the past, every Right they want to keep would be on the chopping block. CA could end up losing the 2A fight and also end up with a new Amendment that allows gay marriage to be blocked, the state’s ability to control firearms in its boarders removed. Maybe the Constitution could be changed to allow Ural counties to vote for President and Congress separately from the Urban counties but have the same voting power, one county one vote. It is unlikely states with Democrat supermajorities would be willing to roll those dice. A Constitutional Convention will never happen. 2. Every state changes their individual laws to a “Winner Takes All” system. Their the Electoral College votes are cast for whomever wins the popular vote in the state. States like CA, NY and states with Democrat supermajorities love this plan because they have to change nothing to get and keep the power over the entire Nation. People often forget that there are more Center Left and Right states than Right or Left states. Here is an example from the 2016 election:
"CA - 8,753,788 Democratic votes cast vs 4,483,810 Republican votes cast = 55 Democratic electors
PA - 2,926,441 Democratic votes cast vs 2,970,733 Republican votes cast = 20 Republican electors
TX - 3,877,868 Democratic votes cast vs 4,685,047 Republican votes cast = 38 Republican electors
Total - 15,658,117 Democratic votes cast vs 12,139,590 Republican votes cast for the national popular vote, but 55 Democratic electors vs 58 Republican electors appointed based on each State's popular vote." If every state did the "Winner Takes All" plan every vote WOULD truly matter in that state and just one vote could give the entire states Electoral College to either party. It is unlikely that any state would be willing to roll those particular dice. It would also require a level of state to state to federal government coordination that has never occurred in our Nations history. Every state independently decides their own method of allocating electoral votes, making a unified system unlikely. Add to that States like Maine and Nebraska who have Congressional Districts system would put a huge monkey wrench in this plan. Maine also uses ranked choice voting that would further complicate this possibility. As an aside to this approach the 2006 National Popular Vote (NPVIC) Interstate Compact. Although a solid plan, it requires all states in the compact to vote with the popular NATIONAL vote over what their states population votes show. This would effectively consolidate all electoral power to the states within the compact, more so, if those states in the compact have a guaranteed 270 votes under its belt. As of right now 17 states or 77% of the 270 votes needed are already locked up under the compact. Let's say WA, OR, CA, MN, WI, IL, MI, PA, NY, VT, ME, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD, HI, DC (242 Electoral votes) add in OH and IN (271 Electoral votes in total) to this super compact and those 21 states will control every single election for the rest of history. The minority of states would have a stranglehold over every federal election. That is not beyond reality because those states have voted Democrat more times than not since 2000. The Electoral College stops that possibility. 3. The last and maybe the only way that has any hope of happening would be a new amendment, changing the basis for the Electoral College, Article II, Section I of the Constitution. To do that an Amendment to replace or repeals the Electoral College would need to be passed. The Amendment would have to pass the high bar of 2/3rds majority votes in the House and Senate and ratification of 3/4ths of the states, this is unlikely. In 2024 35 states had veto-proof majorities in one or both chambers of their state legislatures making an Amendment all but impossible to pass and ratify.
20 states have a Republican veto-proof majority in both chambers.
9 states have a Democratic veto-proof majority in both chambers.
3 states have a Republican veto-proof majority in one chamber.
3 states have a Democratic veto-proof majority in one chamber. Source The process would look like this; 1. Congress needs to approve the amendment by the necessary two-thirds vote noted above. 2. A notification and accompanying information about the amendment must be sent out to governors of each state. 3. State legislatures consider whether to approve the proposed amendment. As a side note with this step, those legislatures cannot change the wording, or the process starts again. 4. Any proposed amendment must be ratified by three-fourths of the states. Finally, if enough states approve–and that’s a big if–the Archivist of the US government issues an official announcement that the amendment has passed and is now part of the United States Constitution. 5. Congress can also direct the states to call conventions for the sole purpose of ratifying an amendment. This has only happened once with the 21st Amendment. That sounds all good and well but line 3 is a big one, and the most complicated step. It took 811 days to ratify the Bill of Rights. The longest ratification took 202 years, the 27th Amendment was introduced to 13 states by James Madison in 1789, it was ratified in 1992. An Amendment change is a pipe dream with how divided our states and populations are.

while i’m not optimistic that nominating someone else is feasible, i do think voting for someone else in the primaries could be a loud way to tell the Biden administration “We don’t want you. What you’re doing is losing approval from people who vote democrat.” Cause they don’t ignore the numbers in the primaries. So please, if you’re American, show up for your presidential primary.

No more lesser of two evils voting!
You can go to the national popular vote website to let your representatives know you want a candidate to be elected via popular vote and not through the electoral college. Third party voting can be an option if enough people make more noise about it. You can find more information about this on their site. When you visit it you can put in your zipcode to find your state representatives and email them with a script. You can add to it if you'd like, just make sure to spread this around!

anything to be hopeful about?
I've made myself sick the past few days out of fear, and I know a lot of people are probably feeling even worse.
ty.
I’m so sorry you’re going through that, I know it’s rough. There are some things to be hopeful about though!
Trump can’t pardon himself from state convictions, that falls on the state.
The State of New York is still prosecuting and sentencing Trump. If he is sentenced he would have to spend the 4 years of his presidency in jail.
Arizona Attorney General, Kris Meyes, said “As you know, I have a fake electors case in Arizona and have no intention of giving that case up –– I have no intention of dropping that case." She still plans to pursue the case against Trump’s allies who tried to overturn the 2020 election.
As votes continue to be counted, Dems have gained multiple seats in the Senate. Democrats have taken seats in: AZ, CA, CT, DE, MA, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NM, NV, NY, RI, VA, WA, WI. Still the minority but there’s less of an overwhelming majority. In the senate seats so far are 46 (D) - 53 (R).
Dems have also gained multiple seats in the House which has lessened the majority somewhat. So far House seats are 204 (D) - 214 (R).
With more seats in the House and Senate, there will be more pushback against proposals by the republicans.
