Oracle!Tim has a wheelchair, but hates using it. He loudly insists he doesn’t need to when almost anyone suggests it. He can get around just fine on crutches, and it’s bad enough the way people treat him like that; he refuses to have them literally looking down on him.
Except, see, the thing is… he does need it. By the end of the day navigating on his crutches, Tim hurts. His back is screaming from the shoulders down, his spine feels almost swollen with how it takes over his senses (burning, throbbing, every click & grind of bone like having a knife wedged between the vertebrae,) the skin on his legs feels like it’s trying to crawl off his body, and there’s sharp needles of pain shooting through his leg muscles. If Tim spends the day on his feet/moving around a lot on his crutches, he’s going to spend the next 3 nights trying to be Oracle while flat on his back on the floor. (Tim does try to get around this by having wheelie chairs in all his offices and just not walking around much, but if the weather turns cold or a big storm blows in, even that won’t help.)
He gets better about it over time. Cass drags Tim into helping with her specific charity work, helping other disabled kids in Gotham. Tim ends up giving interviews in which he talks about being an ambulatory wheelchair user, how he’s treated when he goes out in the chair, how people act like it’s all a horrible lie if they ever see him get up from it, and how it combines with Tim’s own pride & internalized ableism to lead to him gritting his teeth and just pushing through. “It’s not worth it,” he tells Vicki Vale, a rueful smile on his face. “It’s never worth it, to go home and lay on the floor in too much pain to move, just so the people at the grocery store don’t see me in my chair. But I do it anyway, and I’m probably going to keep doing it… so if you see me out in public, please ask me if I’m being stupid, because there’s a good chance the answer is yes.” People laugh. Vicki calls him brave for talking about it. Tim says if he can raise just a little attention, make people a little more aware of how they treat people in (and out) of wheelchairs, he’ll have done something good.
Then he goes home. Lays on the floor. And tries not to cry while one of his loved ones rubs tiger balm into his back, because no, people don’t understand, it fucking hurts.

Reverse Robins AU where everyone is their canon ages but Bruce gets them backwards
And Sooner, thus smaller
Cass: David Cain makes the mistake of letting Bruce know of Cass. Bruce comes back to Gotham with an infant while David Cain resurfaces years later with a case of broken spine. Alfred is torn between pride in his son and exasperation at his newfound hobby of dressing like a furry. (Cass's first word is "bat")
Damian: Talia looks at Bruce (and his ruthlessness in child protection), likes what she sees, and decides he's her new baby daddy. She then spends the next few years in a push-pull seduction trip with Bruce (consensually, fuck you) while simultaneously building up her power base, weeding out her father's men, and plotting his downfall. However, when she becomes pregnant she vanishes for several months only for a baby to appear in Bruce's bed; swaddled in a beautiful blanket and tucked next to the wickedly sharp knife she murdered her father with. Cass is eight years old.
Tim: Bruce doesn't adopt Dick, he doesn't become Robin, thus Tim never connects crazy acrobatics between circus child and traffic light. He's still a baby stalker with an interest in Gotham's nightlife, but here batman works alone. He eventually figures it out anyway, but not before getting involved in something he really shouldn't have which leads to Bruce looking into the Drakes much sooner. By the time they fly back from wherever the hell they've been three months later, Tim's already living with the Wayne's and Bruce has legal blackmail a mile wide. Nine year old Cass has a new little brother big enough to dance with, One Year Old Damian is decidedly unimpressed as toddlers can be, and Six Year Old Tim is starry-eyed at living with the actual batman.
Jason: is eight years old when one of Batman's rouges explodes the building he lived in with his mother and Willis. (Something that wouldn't have happened if he had another pair of hands to help and distract with a quip and a laugh) Bruce Wayne finds him stealing his converter while visiting the memorial he set up in Park Row for his parents. (Jason doesn't know what this rich idiot with more money than sense wants with him; probably as a "playmate" toy for his three spoiled brats no doubt, but at least he'll be off the streets.) One kidnapping later and Jason is of the firm belief that he's still a rich idiot with more money than sense, because all his sense was beaten out of him in that fursuit. Jason turns nine with a seven year old stalker, a two year old demon, and a ten year old shadow as siblings and he's never been happier.
Dick: Oof. The scales of fate aren't fucked with lightly. His future siblings may have happier lives, but only because he suffered instead. Here's the deal: As in canon, the Graysons came to Gotham and died when Dick was nine. However, Bruce never went. Cass was sick, so Bruce never saw the Graysons fall. The Court of Owls did. And the rest, they say, is history. (Until the Kidnapping of Jason Todd, "Street trash" sullying the Wayne name, cracks the Court's disguise and Batman finds an immortal sixteen year old Assassin in the depths of Gotham's oldest cult.

i think it’d be very funny and also very angsty if in my Reverse Robins au, dick still kills the joker
like, it’s a year after jason was killed, and the joker kidnaps Rumor/Tim. Robin arrives, the joker convinces him Rumor is dead, and then he taunts Robin about Batboy/Jason’s death
atp bruce is gone, presumed dead (lost in time), jason died a year ago, and dick is still recovering from his parents deaths. he can’t handle losing anyone else. so he just… stops holding back. he does the quadruple flip, slamming into the joker at 80mph, and breaks the bastard’s neck. no one revives him. dick doesn’t regret it one bit.
and the joker is forever known for being defeated by a fucking 12 year old with anger issues

Reverse Robin AU
Tim, pissed that he got replaced as Robin, decides to kidnap Jason and go off grid. He bribes him with books, plenty of online literature classes, and Alfred's signed approval.
When Bruce debuts with 9 year old Dick Grayson, Tim pulls the same stunt. He has a nursery set up for Zitka, though.

Batfams reaction to Tim coming out in my Reverse Robins AU:
Alfred: "Jolly good, dear boy. Next time you wish to tell me something, please simply knock on the door instead of hiding in my rose bushes."
Bruce: "Thats great. Would you like the list of queer spaces and groups I made for you? Yes I already knew you were bisexual, when you had a concussion you once told me you liked watching Looney Tunes: Back In Action because the main actors were both hot."
Damian: "Okay. I quite literally do not care who you date." *side-eye from Jon* "I mean, thank you for sharing this information, I am very happy for you."
Duke: "Cool, glad you figured that out, dude!"
Steph: "Saaaaame. You're still gonna die alone though. DON'T THROW THAT BOOK AT ME BITCH I'LL KICK YOUR BONEY ASS-"
Jason: "Why are you telling me this, I literally saw you kiss Bernard last week. Yeah I lied when I said I was watching TV. Congrats though, double chance to be rejected!"
Cass: "I know."
Dick: "Hi Bisexual, I'm Dick. WAIT DON'T LEAVE I HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO ASK! ... Why do you dress so bad if you've been in the closet so long?"
Barbara: "I'm happy for you and Bernard. Yeah. I hacked into your apartment cameras. Sorry. Not to you, I'm sorry for my eyes, I had to clean them with bleach."

I have no idea how one can make Tim Drake join the family in a Reverse!Robins, and I'm not even saying this as a critic but more like genuine confusion.
The reason Tim joins the family is all because of Dick Grayson.
Tim was a fan of the flying Graysons and that's how he figured out Batman and Robin's identities.
Tim saw the way Robin helped Batman and it's the reason he ended up joining the family when he knew Dick wouldn't take on the mantle again.
Neither of these things are possible in a Reverse!Robins au because Robin shouldn't even be a thing before the arrival of Dick, so Damian would probably have a whole different name for himself like "The Shadow" (for the league of shadows) or "batlad/batkid". And this aside, Damian is way too similar to Bruce attitude-wise and nothing like Dick Grayson who, because of how he was, managed to be like a light in Batman's life and the reason why Tim knew Batman needed Robin (aka. Dick Grayson).
Batman with Damian is the same depressive man he was before Dick except now he'd have a kid (which might lead him to a change with Alfred's insistence that the child needs a father, but it'd take longer than ideal.)

I think what I love the most about Reverse Robin AU TimJay is the absolute potential for hero worship with Jason toward Tim. In canon we often forget that Tim didn't really care for Jason as Robin, meanwhile as I never shut up about, Jason has been weirdly respecting and obsessed with Tim since finding out about Tim's existence. So if you flip their order, make Tim Red Hood and make Jason Red Robin, there's so much room for hero worship from Jason.
As Robin, Jason has always teetered that edge of being pro-murder or not. Whether you believe he killed Felipe or not, even in his Post-Crisis introduction as Robin, he almost kills Two Face. Those concepts of lethal justice have always been brewing inside him, just reigned in by Bruce. So if you have Robin!Jason witnessing Red Hood!Tim start killing people and quickly making noticeable change in the landscape of gangs in Gotham, Jason would take quick notice. I think Tim as Red Hood would still be lethal, but there'd be a different application than Jason's Red Hood. Heads in duffle bags isn't Tim's style, even if he kills. I think you'd see something much more akin to that time Tim almost killed Boomerang, where it's such an elaborately thought out set up, it realistically doesn't even look like Tim killed anyone. It'd take months for Bruce to connect this string of deaths as anything other than coincidental, let alone link them to Red Hood. And Jason is wickedly smart, even as Robin. Jason, putting those pieces together before Bruce does and witnessing the undeniable positive change for Gotham it's enacting? Robin!Jason would be incredibly drawn in by that, and then even more-so, a Red Robin!Jason who has to grapple with being replaced to make room for the next Robin would I think, in anger, turn to Red Hood. And Tim would push him away at first, his plans don't have room for a scorned teenager who's trying to get back at Bruce and Nightwing!Damian like this- but I think Jason would wear him down. Prove to Tim that Jason can think on his wavelength.
Slightly related, what interests me about Red Hood!Tim is how it'd implicate his closeness to Ra's. Jason is taken into the League by Talia in Lost Days and Ra's doesn't necessarily approve of Jason's presence, especially not of Talia dunking him in the Pit, but Ra's has always canonically been A Little Weird about Tim. I think in a world Tim dies as the second Robin, it would be Ra's who dunks Tim to preserve his mind that Ra's thinks shouldn't be wasted, and you have the potential for 'apprentice of Ra's' Tim wrapped up in it all, even without him experience the Red Robin arc. So when it's Jason as Red Robin, instead of him going to Ra's when he's scorned by the Batfamily, he goes to Tim. The person he once idolized, because I think Tim would've been Jason's Robin. Smart, competent, a strong legacy to live up to. And now he's back, and he's pro-killing, an edge that Jason has always teetered on and would feel even closer to when he's replaced by a young Dick. I think Tim wouldn't ever be able to get rid of Jason.
Then on Tim's side, I think his reaction to being replaced after his death would be a complicated one. Objectively, being the Robin who believes Batman needs a Robin, he'd respect the logic and know Bruce was always going to replace him eventually. But still, there's always going to be that instinctual emotional reaction of betrayal and replacement. I think he'd view Jason at first with anger and distance, but then, seeing Jason as this street kid with begrudging potential, I could see Red Hood!Tim testing Jason. Constantly throwing things at Jason, seeing how he reacts, if he lives up to being Robin. Tim has a need for analyzing people, understanding their strengths and weaknesses. And he seems the Robin mantle very uniquely, he'd need to have it proven to him that Jason can handle it.
So you would have this dynamic of Jason hero worshipping Tim, slowly believing in Tim's methodology. While Tim is at first dismissive of him, but then starts to test him, see what makes this kid tick. And I think the TimJay potential of Jason trying to prove himself to Tim could be Neat.

Yet more Reverse!Robins
EDIT: Now on AO3.
(Calling back to my tags on this post, and one of the images from this one that live rent free in my brain.)
Joker gets bored torturing Jason on his own after a couple days, and sends out invites to all the other rogues (or at least, the ones he’s pretty sure won’t rat him out and end the fun) about a “surprise present” he’s working on for Batman. Steph has absolutely no interest involving herself in Joker’s nonsense, so she immediately throws it out and focuses on securing her area of the city to keep her people safe. She doesn’t think much more of it.
Six days later, Tim shows up at the door of one of her clubs. Not in costume, barely hiding his identity, hardly even armed (like, the bare minimum for walking around this part of town this late at night, and most of that is artfully hidden in his crutches & leg braces.) Aside from Damian or Bruce crashing the party to accuse Steph of stuff (that like 60% of the time she didn’t even do,) none of the Bats have ever approached Steph in an actual place of business before. She’s curious. She tells security to let him in, and show him to her table.
“Mr. Wayne,” Steph says, because fuck it, if Tim’s only going to mess up his hair and barely slap some concealer over the dark circles under his eyes, she isn’t gonna maintain his identity for him. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Tim shakes her hand, looks her dead in the eye, never glancing at her guards or flinching at his name. A proper little businessman, in a ratty band t-shirt and a pair of old jeans. “I need a favor.”
“You? Need a favor from me?”
“Yes.”
“The great Timothy Wayne?”
“I didn’t come here to play games.” Tim glares. “Yes, I need your help. Yes, it has to be you. Yes, I am out of other options. No, I am not above groveling—”
“Really?”
“Steph.”
“Don’t,” she growls back, “try to play this like we’re friends, Tim.”
Tim crosses his arms and scowls off to the side. “…Fine. We’ll keep it professional.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that. I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing you on your knees.” Tim’s eye twitches as Steph takes a sip of her drink. “What brings you to my humble abode?”
“I told you, need a favor,” Tim repeats.
“Well, that could be anything,” Steph says, rolling her eyes behind her mask.
“My little brother’s missing.”
Steph’s drink goes down the wrong way. She forces herself to swallow her cough. Steph clears her throat to mask it, and sets her drink back on the table.
Tim continues like he didn’t notice. “The police can’t find him. The Bats can’t find him. I have been leveraging every advantage I’ve got, but nobody has seen him in over a week—”
Ice slips down Steph’s spine as she remembers the invitation she’d thrown out right around a week ago.
“—but you have contacts they don’t.” Tim takes a deep breath. “I know you hate us, I know you…” His eyes flicker towards her guards. “…You’ve made your opinions very clear—”
“I should certainly hope so,” Steph mutters.
“—but whatever you think of me, or Bruce, or Cass, Duke, Damian, anybody, Jason’s innocent. He’s suffered enough.” Tim has a warning in his eyes: You’ve hurt him enough. Like she’d actually tried to kill the kid or something (if Steph wanted Jason dead, he’d be dead; honestly, she didn’t even leave any permanent damage. Her lesson was no harsher than anything any of them got on a bad patrol, she was just more open about the point she was making.) “He’s just a kid.”
“And yet, you keep letting him out into this city.”
Anger flashes across Tim’s face, but he visibly chokes it down. “I’m not having this conversation with you. This has nothing to do with Jason’s hobbies or field trips, or whether or not you approve of them. This is about a 15yr old kid, missing in Gotham City, following the biggest Arkham breakout in the last 10yrs. Are you going to help or not?”
Steph sighs, propping one elbow on the table and leaning on her fist. “What have you got for me?”
“Jason snuck out for a party nine days ago—the night of the breakout.” (Translation: Jason was in uniform, probably on patrol.) “We have a system where even if he doesn’t want Bruce to know what he’s doing, Jason still calls me to check in every 2hrs. He checked in a little before 2, because he said he was about to be ‘really busy’ and didn’t want me to worry. I told him to go home. He told me he’d be fine, that he wasn’t anywhere near the mayhem.” Tim’s expression is flat, dead. “He didn’t check in again. Nobody’s seen or heard from him since. There have been no ransom demands. Last sighting was outside of Genevieve’s in Burnley.”
The invitation arrived six days ago exactly.
Steph needs to go. Steph needs—Steph needs to find that letter, she can’t remember if it had an address or a time, she can’t—
“I’ll pay whatever you want,” Tim tells her, seemingly unaware of how Steph’s breath is caught in her lungs (remembering what it was like to be 16, tiny, and at the whims of a madman. Eight full days. Did Steph suffer that long? She doesn’t think so, but the time all blurs together under the pain…) “Money is obviously no object. Weapons? Name them. Tech? I’ll build it for you myself. I can wipe your record clean. I can keep the Bats off your back. I can—” Tim swallows. “My balance isn’t the best anymore, but if you want me on my knees, I can beg. If you need me to demonstrate my gratefulness or if you need someone to hurt, I—”
“Oh my god, STOP!” The table wobbles as Steph jumps to her feet, nearly spilling her ginger ale—but then, she doesn’t really want it anymore. Her stomach is one giant knot, and she’s really regretting those onion rings she had earlier.
“Please,” Tim says, soft and far more earnest than Steph can deal with right now. “He’s my little brother. I… it’s my fault he thought he could go out like this. If there’s anything you can do…”
Steph needs to get to her office. She needs to find that note, and if she can’t find it, she needs to find Joker’s delivery boy so she can beat the answer out of him. She steps away from the table. “I’ll get back to you.”
Tim grabs Steph’s wrist as she passes by. “Please—”
“I said, I’ll get back to you,” Steph snaps, yanking her arm out of his grip. She looks away from Tim’s wounded expression. “I can’t do anything if you’re dragging me down.”
Tim’s shoulders sag with relief. “Thank you.”
“…You owe me. Whether I find him or not.”
“Thank you.”
Steph walks away. She doesn’t look back.
(She shoots Joker in the throat, grabs the nearest heavy object—curved & metal, but much else doesn’t register—and beats the clown’s head in while screaming insults in League dialect. She strips down to her suit’s under layer to keep Joker’s blood away from Jason, tossing her gloves away without caring about fingerprints, and kneels down in front of Jason, making herself as small as possible. She undoes the bonds, checking his injuries, and when Jason collapses into Steph’s arms, she holds on. Steph cradles Jason in her arms, helps him rehydrate from her water bottle, and apologizes in every language she knows for not being there for him sooner.)
(Without the mask or the armor, with Steph’s hair pulling wild & sweaty out of its braid, she doesn’t look nearly so much like the villain who hurt him before. Jason wonders if he’s dead or dreaming, to finally have the hero he looked up to for so much of his childhood decide he’s worth saving after all.)
(Steph would go to the ends of the earth to protect him from that point forward. When questioned, she just mutters something about not “letting all that work go to waste.”)

Hi!! I’ve wanted to send an ask/art request for almost 2 years and am finally done being shy.
I love your art so much oh my gosh. I am also a fan of Damian and Tim's dynamic, especially in the Reverse Robins AU (so much angst potential). If you want to, could we please have some protective!Damian, either in this AU or in canon? 😇💞
Take care and thank you for sharing your art with us!

✷Babysitting Reverse Robins: Driving to the Supermarket ‿✷
Masterlist
A couple hours prior Damian had asked you to watch his family while he stayed out late on a case and because you owed him so many favors you said yes. Which led you to what you were doing.
"Dick are you sure you can drive?" you asked the small child.
He seemed pretty excited to finally be able to show off his driving skills even though you were pretty sure he shouldn't even have been able to touch a steering wheel at his age.
The only reason you were allowing this small child to drive you to the supermarket was because you currently had to deal with their baby brother Bruce who for the life of you would not let you go.
You'd tried putting him down so many times but he'd jump cling on to you further and scream his head off and you can't drive like that can you?
Also for some reason Damian allowed him to have a car.
Who gives a child a car?!
"Of course I can drive, I can't say the same for him though" he grinned before turning over to his older brother Jason.
Even though he was also still a child he'd somehow been allowed to ride a motorcycle through the streets.
"Guys I'm not to sure about this, can't we get Tim to drive?" you asked.
He was the much older sibling and you were sure he had much more experience than these two.
"He can't drive"
Scratch that, nevermind
"Why is he older and he can't drive?" You asked as you helped Dick in to the car.
He wasn't even tall enough to get in, let alone reach the steering wheel without having to sit on a little cushion.
Ridiculous
"Cause he sucks and we're better" Jason answered.
Bit harsh but okay.
"You'd better drive quick before the police realize that there's a kid in the drivers seat" you told him before quickly getting in the car.
You hadn't even had time to talk to Jason before he was off, speeding down the streets as if the supermarket wasn't ten minutes away.
Matter of fact you could've just walked there but sadly Gotham was to dangerous for that. So let's hope Dick can actually drive or else your totally screwed.
"Um, so I probably should've told you this before but.." He turns to you with that cute little deceiving smile he always give you before something goes wrong.
In the corner of your eye you can see him slowly pressing his foot into the gas peddle.
"I lied, I can't drive"
....
"WHAT, STOP THE CAR"
He just giggles before hard pressing the gas peddle. All you can do is clutch Baby B tightly in your arms and hope you get to the supermarket in one piece.

so like reverse robins, if done right, i love em. anything reverse robins i ever write will never have Steph become Babs. it doesn't make sense to her character for her to become oracle, would she be great at it, absolutely, but it doesn't make sense.
there's always debate on whether it should be Steph or Tim to die and more or less become Jason. my answer is that Tim get's joker jr'd and kills himself (+ the joker if your so inclined (but joker would have to be revived somehow for plot reasons) (you can make it Bruce if you want more angst)) then Steph becomes robin because Tim always talked about how gotham needed a robin and she wanted to honor him in a way only she could. then the thing with black mask happens and she still fakes her death travels, heals, grieves, and comes back when she heard bruce picked up a new kid. (Jason wasn't robin yet, just living in the manor but Steph new it was only a matter of time)
so she comes back to gotham and decides she's gonna take care of crime alley her way, and revamps her old spoiler costume. (she may not have grown up there but she was a few streets away and she knew what a place like that did to kids) (she also has no ties to Bruce anymore so her no killing thing gets a whole lot more lax)(she kills her father - that's how bruce and the others found out shes back in town). and openly feuds with black mask over territory and brutally maims him but like just a bit.
Then Jason becomes robin and six months later Tim is back. he's different and definitely a bit more unhinged, but efficient as ever. he quickly takes over the drug trade and helps Steph get rid of the worst of the worst. But doesn't do the whole try to make Bruce kill the joker thing, instead he makes Bruce watch as Tim does and warns him that if he tries to revive the joker again (damian aka nightwing def killed the joker & Bruce brought him back) that they Will Have Problems. Tho he is going as Joker Jr. as a fuck you and a threat to pretty much everyone, after all they all knew what happened to the 2nd robin.
In summary Tim & Steph split up the Red Hood traits
Duffle bag of heads - tim, he's dramatic
Died (like burried in a grave and crawled out died) - tim
Guns - Steph
The joker - tim (but steph will shoot the fucker on sight so help her god)
Black mask war - steph (obvi)
Crime alley - steph mainly (but tim lurks around and every crime alley kid & sex worker knows that if they ever need something JJ will take care of it no questions asked)
Drug trade - tim
Scaring/pissing B off - both, they make it a game
Murder - both as a treat
