"Okay but Remus it went so well. Like he brought me flowers, we talked endlessly, we have so much in common, and he has real aspirations," Regulus shameless gushed about the date he just went on having called Remus to talk as he drove himself home.

"I don't think you've ever sounded this happy talking about a date Reg," Remus chuckled.

"Oh hush but honestly there was no point where I ever felt like I was ready to go you know?" Regulus attempted to hide his emotions but clearly couldn't contain himself.

"Regulus you deserve to be happy," Remus said hearing Regulus scoff at the idea, but it was true.

"Tell me about him," Remus said pushing on as he knew Regulus wouldn't respond to that affirmation.

"Well he has the smoothest brown skin, and his eyes are honey brown with golden flecks speckled throughout them, always catching the light behind his glasses. They are these kind of dorky round ones but they suit him so well. He is working in his teaching degree but keeps getting offers to play pro football so he isn't sure what he is going to do but he is definitely going to finish school regardless. He said he has a great group of friends who he just loves with his whole heart. He even shared one of them has lived with him and his family for like 10 years to help him get out of a bad family situation. I don't know Remus, James is just-"

"Wait. What did you say his name was?" Remus interrupted, trying to manage the panic in his voice.

"James, Remus why do you sound like you're about to tell me the worst news?" Regulus said joy fading from his voice, concern replacing every syllable.

"Umm... it doesn't happen to be James Potter does it?" Remus asked tentatively, praying to any god Regulus would say no.

"Yeah it is," Regulus explained a bit of smile curving up his lips as he thought about James again. "Why, do you know him?" Regulus added as he shook his head back to reality.

"Uh yeah yeah I do... er" Remus stuttered.

"Oh no what's wrong with him? Did you sleep with him?" Regulus said annoyed now.

Remus laughed, "no no I didn't sleep with him it's just that he's prongs."

Previous part First part

They were meeting his parents at the fun fair and then following them back to theirs for dinner. 

“Hi Mum, hi Dad,” He waved above the crowd as they picked up their tickets and headed towards them. Effie grabbed him, but instead of pulling him in for a hug she pulled his shirt up and spun him around. “Mum! What are you doing?!” James yelped as he tried to tug his shirt back down. 

“Just checking dear,” She said with a straight face. 

“Mum!” James groaned in embarrassment as he looked apologetically at Remus, who was trying to keep a straight face.

"Can't be too careful what with all these crazed doctors needing kidneys for their patients." Monty chuckled, clapping his hand on Remus's shoulder. 

When she finally stopped manhandling him, James pecked a kiss on her cheek as well as his dad, Regulus and a rather shocked Remus, before grabbing Sirius and running towards the tallest ride they could find. 

Sirius was the brother he never had. He had the same slightly mental need for fun and their sense of humour was on par. 

He looked at the leg twister, a huge roller coaster that dangled you below the track and the force of the turns literally twisted your legs. He caught Sirius’s eye and nodded his head at it, Sirius wiggled his eyebrows in answer and, without words, he knew exactly what Sirius was saying. They ran forward to get in line. 

It was amazing. He’d been thrown back into his seat and had no control over his legs. He and Sirius had woohoo’d the whole way around and with their arms flung above their heads. After it was over, they waited patiently for the man to come around and release them from their seats. James’s hair was stuck up like he’d been electrocuted, while Sirius looked perfectly windswept, and he could have just walked off the set of a photoshoot. He was only jealous for a split second before he was back to being excited. Sirius had pointed out the second-biggest ride. 

“Wait, does this go backwards?!” Sirius asked, looking up at the carts that were indeed hurtling around the track backwards. James looked at him and all they needed was a curl of their lips, and they were sprinting towards it. They ran straight past Regulus and Remus, who had the biggest candy floss sticks he'd ever seen. 

“Hi, love,” He waved on the way past. 

James and Sirius must have been on every ride at least twice. And they would have gone again, but both of their phones pinged at the same time. 

‘Oi, hurry up. Remus and I are starving, and your mum keeps talking about the meatballs she’s made, and your dad is actively trying to kill me with his descriptions of the chocolate cake he's made. It oozes chocolate James, oozes! Remus is literally foaming at the mouth. I worry about my safety.’ 

The message from Regulus made him smile broadly. He showed it to Sirius and Sirius showed him the less polite version Remus had sent. 

“Dr Lupin, you treat patients with that mouth?” James laughed as he handed Sirius his phone back. 

They made one last pit stop before they went back to the car and their waiting boyfriends. James just hoped that Regulus was still in one piece left alone with a ravenous Remus, who James had on good authority, was a biter. James did not ask Sirius to explain further as they hurried towards the exit.

Psychologist Remus Lupin starts therapy sessions with playboy Sirius Black who's being forced into treatment by his remarkably better centered younger brother. Remus isn't very keen on taking over this high-profile patient (who's also known to be a jerk in the media) , BUT a) he's not one to turn down a case; and b) he's drowning in medical debts and the Black family is willing to pay very well Sirius basically lives in hotels, never settles down in one city, does drugs and parties and fucks random dudes as if it's second nature. He races sports cars, likes borderline suicidal speeds just to get that feeling when life's hanging by a thread and everything suddenly feels real. When he nearly overdoses, Regulus (who manages the family fortune after their parents' death) and James (Sirius' childhood bff who doesn't recognise his friend anymore) join forces to plan an intervention. Sirius gets grounded in England and has to choose between going straight to rehab or trying out therapy first. He chooses the latter, but doesn't think he needs help, so he treats the whole affair as a joke, being highly elusive and sardonic during sessions At first Remus makes little of him besides the fact that Sirius is probably the most handsome man he's ever laid eyes upon, but Sirius a nice challenge to unravel Sirius tolerates the sessions for the sake of Reg letting him keep his credit lines, but then he starts to kind of look forward to the weekly encounters with this cute, super smart, kind of condescending therapist who doesn't seem to give a fuck about who he is To everyone's surprise, Sirius actually starts to get better and see the points Remus is trying to make Remus panics when he realises he looks forward to sessions with this particular patient more than any other They are now borderline flirtatious. Sirius wants to get into Remus' pants and Remus is freaking out about losing his license It all goes to hell when Remus realises he's in love with Sirius fucking Black, the idiot from TMZ headlines. He very honourably informs Regulus that he can no longer treat Sirius Reg lashes out at Sirius for fucking yet another thing up In the meantime, Reg and James' team-up turns into something less about Sirius' health and a lot more about ravishing one another's mouths yay

Regulus (whispering): You know, everyone’s looking at us weird again.

Remus (grinning): Yeah, I noticed. I think they’re still trying to figure out who’s transitioning into what.

Regulus: Sirius asked me yesterday if I was “feeling the full moon coming on.” I just nodded and walked away. Poor guy looked so lost.

Remus: laughing That’s nothing! Mary overheard part of a conversation and now she thinks I’m transitioning. She keeps offering to help with “the journey.”

Regulus (evil smirk): They don’t know if I’m turning into a werewolf or if you’re trans. It’s hilarious watching them try to piece it together.

Remus: We could have some fun with this.

Regulus: Oh, definitely. Next time they ask, I’ll just start talking about "embracing my true self" and see where that leads.

Remus: laughing And I’ll drop hints about "feeling wild" every time the moon's full. Let’s really keep them guessing.

Regulus: You know, with the right amount of mystery, we could confuse them for years.

Remus: I say we go for it. Keep them wondering which one of us is... transitioning. Or both.

Do you ever just think of a different universe, in which the marauders realise that they are being dicks in like third year or something when it isn’t too late yet, and they stop bullying Snape, and apologies; and Snape (and a good few of the other Slytherins bc that whole portrayal is just lazy writing in my opinion) don’t have as much of a problem with muggles (probably because they actually spend time with people who don’t have blood supremacist views/have positive examples of muggles and muggle borns, depending on case); and they all become friends.

And when Regulus comes to Hogwarts Severus befriends him, and ofc he’s Sirius’ brother. And because he’s obviously friends with other Slytherins as well, and he introduces them to the marauders and their other friends and thus the gap between Slytherin and Gryffindor starts to mend.

A good few more people find out about Rem being a werewolf and become animagi. Lily also befriends the Marauders and stats dating James earlier (canonically she couldn’t stand at least James and Sirius until sixth year).

All the friend groups (Marauders, Snape’s gang, Slytherin Skittles etc) become intermingled. These people all get invited to so many weddings and anniversaries after Hogwarts, it is actually ridiculous. The wizarding world, canonically-ish, has no issues with queer people so whatever rocks your boat works. Charora, wolfstar, jili, sevity, snulciber, Jegulus, rosekiller, marily whatever you want.

And Sev isn’t mentally quite as fucked about Lily’s death, but now he’s of course also sad about James, Sirius and Peter, and Regulus, but he’s got other friends too, ones that are not death eaters, so he isn’t (actually) one either, and he’s mentally just more healthy. We’ll just say he still becomes a spy for the Order for the sake of convenience.

Remus is left mourning Regulus and his other new friends after the war, but the wizarding community is stronger, and he had more support.

The Order is also in a better position because the kids managed to change the views of their age group so drastically.

If you have ideas for other characters, please add, idk too much about them cuz I tend to fixate on just a handful of characters but I would love to read your thoughts.

When Snape goes to teach at Hogwarts he isn’t a downright antisocial asshole like he is in canon so he becomes part of the Big Happy Hogwarts Staff Family. (If you know fics for this trope please tell me I am starved)

He’s also actually a good teacher, because he has always been competent, and since he’s healed from his own trauma much better than in canon, he isn’t an utter arse to everyone.

And when Remus comes to teach they instantly become, or rather re-become, rampaging bffs.

When the staff starts a prank war they team up, and no one stands a chance against the man who knows virtually every potion in existence and the literal former marauder.

Sirius gets pardoned, because this time both Remus and Severus are willing to hear him out. Peter still escapes because Remus transforms, but everyone present demands Sirius is questioned with verita serum. Professor Binns is finally retired/exorcised, and Sirius becomes the History of Magic Professor. (Idea for this from Oh God, Not Again on AO3)

Remus still has to leave because of the curse, but he drops by now and again, now that his boyfriend and hopefully-soon-to-be-but-we-all-know-it’s-gonna-happen-so-soon-to-be fiancé works there. Harry never goes back to the Dursley’s.

Snape eats dinner with the other members of the Order. His hair isn’t greasy, because he isn’t too depressed to wash it. Minerva and Poppy (they are married btw) are mother figures for him, as well as the Marauders. Snape isn’t Nevils biggest fear, because he isn’t a bully. Everyone is actually shocked when he kills Dumbledore, and he is just generally more well liked.

Umbitch doesn’t know what hit her when she comes face to face with not only the Weasley twins and the contempt of the entire student body and faculty, but also prank-planing mastermind and gay disaster Sirius Orion Black the Third.

Draco isn’t a twat, or at least not as much, because his parents weren’t as bad as they are in canon. Him and Harry start dating.

Harry’s name-choice for his kid(s) isn’t terrible.

The marauders era gang comes together in the afterlife by the end of the second war and ‘lives’ happily ever after. The rest of course join then eventually, but they’ve got their lives to live at first.

Like these characters could have ALL had such beautiful relationships with each other, platonic and romantic, but nO, they HaTe each other and they have too much tRaUmA

Feel free to add and comment, but (and the fact that I feel I need to say this says a lot about this fandom or at least my experiences with it) if you’re going to insult me for liking certain characters or having certain head canons, just don’t. You don’t like, scroll.

Scheming (1/1) (jegulus)

Remus knew what he was was doing. But he loved to scheme, he was a marauder after all. He was also a hopeless romantic and knew that his best friends would make an excellent couple. He would make sure Sirius came around eventually.

The best part about this plan is that it was what they both wanted as well. But none of it was Remus' story to tell. So operation "safe space" was underway.

Remus was meeting Regulus in the library as per usual. They were studying often since it was Regulus' OWLs this year and Remus always enjoyed studying with Regulus. But what Regulus didn't know was that James was being dragged along. Sirius and Peter were in detention so James didn't have a reason to say no anyway, and Remus told James he wanted to speak to him about something.

When Regulus showed up and saw James sitting with Remus, he assumed Potter would get up and leave soon, but Remus had got him into a conversation about being trans. Remus questioned his gender from time to time, because what is a man anyway and where do werewolves actually fall on the binary, but he never stressed too much about. Regulus laughed as he heard Remus lament about this, a rant he had heard many a time. James however didn't realize that Regulus was laughing fondly and took offence.

"What's so funny?" James asked, ready to quash any of the toujours pur bullshit.

"Oh nothing, I've just heard the werewolf rant before," Regulus said.

"There's no need to laugh at Remus for reflecting on himself and who he might be," James said sternly.

"You're one to talk," Regulus spat back. "You don't know anything Potter so maybe leave my friend alone," Regulus slapped his books down and glared at James as he sat.

"Remus is my friend too, and he knows that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to these things. Maybe you should just mind your own business," James huffed. He never got too mad but he could feel himself heating up when Regulus scoffed.

"Oh what? You think I don't know anything about contemplating gender?" James challenged.

"Not in the way I do," Regulus said snottily, nose held high in the air as he opened his books.

"Haha that's very funny, but you couldn't be more wrong," James said.

"How so," Regulus said, confident in not losing this argument.

And then James looked at him, and Regulus narrowed his eyes, and they both straightened their spines and mirrors each other as then leaned in, "I'm trans," they both said at the same time. And then, still in sync, their eyes widened.

They looked at Remus who was trying incredibly hard to not laugh. He had already pack up his things and was getting up before he could get hexed. "You two should talk," Remus called over his shoulder and the left.

"So wait, you're trans?" James asked Regulus genuinely.

"Yes but don't you go telling all my secrets Potter or I'll know it was you," Regulus threatened.

"I wouldn't say anything, I know how important it is to get to chose who knows and how..." James said trailing off at the end.

"Right," Regulus conceded.

"Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one," James said easily always friendly with everyone, but he started to get up and leave.

"You could stay to study," Regulus said hastily, and when James looked at him he quickly added, "if you want."

James had always had a crush on Regulus and thought sometimes it was reciprocated, but never did anything because he didn't know how Regulus would react to him being trans, but clearly not poorly. And Regulus was never nice just because, and it made James' stomach flutter. "Yeah okay," James said.

They sat in quiet companionship side by side, and it became a regular occurrence for them to meet in the library. Though it quickly was no longer meeting to study.

ok so!!!! yay!! i dont have a super strong opinion on prongsfoot, but me personally, i see them more as best friends, maybe 1 hook up or james was sirius's first kiss (i rlly hc and james and remus were each others first kiss)

sunrose i think can be super cute, like they loki seem like theyd match each others freak. ive nvr seen anything sunrose tho, maybe ill look into it cuz i like the idea.

i ADORE sunkiller. i love it so much, like i have a fic in progress abt sunkiller, i love them. it doesnt seem like it but with the right hcs n stuff james and barty match each ofhers fresk PERFECTLY!!! LIKE SO WELL. so i love sunkiller, especially as like childhood bffs whove hooked up a couple times, maybe dated for a month but it was too much for either of them or smth.

moonwater i dont have a strong opinion abt either. its in the same vain and prongsfoot, like i feel personally a world where moonwater anf prongsfoot btoh happen is the only universe where both can happen successfully. and i see them more as bff gossip buddies, but again i think its a cute concept.

im not adamantly against any ships except for sirius x regulus (or any other insest ships), any pedophilic ships, or snape x lily, cuz snape is js such a horrible person and i love lily so much and shes so good, and snape is like oddly infantilizing (in my opinion!) of their relationship, and its extremely toxic

Regulus received a beautifully written email from Effie the following morning apologising for her idiotic son and for upsetting him when she invited Sirius and Remus to dinner. ‘Monty enjoyed their company when we were at dinner in the hotel and thought it would be nice to recreate it. If I had known James hadn’t asked you already, I would have invited you first. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us.’ And she’d signed it ‘Love Effie.’ 

Regulus had read it, again and again, breaking down each part and beginning to form a response. It was harder than he’d thought it would be. He’d never written to anyone’s mother before, let alone the most wonderful mother he’d ever met. No wonder James was so good and kind with parents like Effie and Monty.

Dear Effie,

Thank you for your lovely email. Of course, I forgive you, it was entirely my own misunderstanding. It could have happened to anyone. James is a total dolt! Thank you for the invitation. I am looking forward to dinner. Is there anything I can bring?

It was short, but he couldn’t think what else to put without embarrassing himself. He closed his eyes and hit send and relaxed back on the bed next to a snoring James. 

He was brushing his hand through his boyfriend’s scruffy hair when his phone pinged. He opened his emails and there was a reply from Effie. 

‘Dearest Regulus,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You are a sweet boy, and I am so glad James tried to bury you in snow. 

No darling, all we ask is for your company, we have everything for you all. See you at 6.

James stirred next to him. 

“What are you laughing at?” He raised his head trying to catch a glimpse of Regulus’s phone screen. 

“Something your mum said,” He answered, twisting his phone out of James’s eyesight. 

“My mum? Oh gods, what have I forgotten now?” James sighed into Regulus’s chest. 

“Nothing,” Regulus had to chuckle, which made James scrape his stubble over Regulus’s sensitive skin. Regulus’s chuckle turned into a squeal, he didn’t see James’s hand flick out and grab his phone. He scrolled through their messages before Regulus even realised what he was doing. 

“Muuuummmmmm!” James groaned. “She’s such a pest. Sorry,” He added as he handed Regulus his phone back, and Regulus wasn’t sure if he was apologising for reading the messages or for his mum. Either way, Regulus wasn’t that bothered. Barty had done far worse. 

They were going to head over to James’s parents earlier than they’d planned because Monty had called Regulus’s number and, after ordering him to put him on speakerphone, so the others could hear, told them about the fun fair that had set up last night and would be opening in a few hours. Sirius and James had whooped with joy and started to excitedly discuss which attraction they would be going on first. 

“I’m just excited about the candy floss,” Remus had confessed to Regulus.

“Same,” Regulus agreed, “And the waltzers. I’m a sucker for the waltzers,” Remus turned to stare at him. 

“Me too. Why don’t we let those two bugger off and ride all the big rides, and we go and have some actual fun,” Remus suggested, pointing a finger at James and Sirius. Regulus watched his brother and his boyfriend messing around. Sirius jumped on James’s back while James spun around as fast as he could, until he tripped and launched Sirius into the air. Luckily, the sofa was waiting for him. Sirius sat up looking a bit dazed before he cheered. 

“Do it again!” And jumped back onto James’s back. Regulus rolled his eyes at them. 

“It’s a date,” He said to Remus, deciding James and Sirius could put themselves in danger and he'd eat sweets with Remus instead.

“Perfect,” Remus winked at him before he went to try and separate Sirius from James.

james- I think he'd be a big fan of all the music of the now and maybe 10 ish years earlier. lots of sixties duwopy pop-rock like the beatles, the zombies and the turtles but also more contemporary stuff; Fleetwood Mac, Wings, the Pretty Things, Frank Zappa, the Eagles, Queen and Bowie (not glam, disco. so like thin white Duke era- not that he'd mind glam bowie I just think he'd prefer disco bowie)! also I think like Ambrosia and other 70s pop he'd dig.. but I think he would be totally in love with Fleetwood Mac, especially their album Mystery to Me- because it would remind him of lily. I think he, along with alice, would get lily more into fleetwood mac.

lily - I think she'd really prefer 50s rock and jazz .. blues and soul too, though I don't think she'd mind later rock. she just seems very buddy holly/chet baker/frank sinatra/ray charles/ella fitzgerald/nina simone, I also think she'd really like otis redding but he's 60s lol, oh and I think she would've LOVED the monkees when she wad younger and would think theyre brilliant.

sirius - glam glam glam and then also punk from the late 70s-81.. also goth+post punk music (ie. the cure, echo and the bunnymen, the smiths, siouxsie and the banshees, depeche mode, joy division ect ect) but I always think of goth as sort of a mid-late 80s thing so I don't think he'd have really been exposed to alot of goth bands because he was. in jail... but I think David Bowie, T. Rex, Lou Reed, the Velvet Underground, and then like Television, Patti Smith, the Clash, Iggy Pop, the Stooges. yk.. but also a lot of what James listens to as well!:3 bc they r bff! also I think remus and sirius share great love for queen :)

remus! - folk! and art rock! I think he'd like a lot of the glam sirius listens to and I think he'd be a very big velvet underground fan. as for folk, I think Bob Dylan, Vashti Bunyan, Donovan, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Janis Ian, Simon and Garfunkle, GEORGE HARRISON!! - that sort of vibe.. also also think he'd share folky stuff with lily and she would rather enjoy it !

peter - I don't think he really listens to music tbh, not in the way where he'd have favourites. just whatever is on the radio/the records his friends play!

alice - I think she lovessssss female artists and makes a point to listen to them. Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Kate Bush, Aretha Franklin, very varied but very girl, because I think Alice is a big fan of women doing things idk. bisexual moment 4 her. I think her and lily would also both share a really great love of Stevie Nicks and be like fanatics of hers.

frank - I think bro LOVES reggae idk. Bob Marley fan. culture/jimmy cliff/the gladiators. I also think he'd like a lot of "dad rock" bands, led zeppelin/steely dan/the eagles/the who/the kinks.. yar naur. he's a man❤️🙂‍↕️

severus - classical music snob, probably inherited from his mom. loathes rock n roll idk. seems like THAT SORT OF GUY..

regulus - lots of classical and jazz, but not in the way severus is like pretentious, I mean coming from a muscianship standpoint. I think he'd especially love miles davis jazz wise and beethoven+liszt classical music wise (ie. I think he'd have a great love for romantic music, even though beethoven isn't usually considered romantic- just LISTEN to moonlight sonata, it is DRIPPING with the emotion of romantic music).
