Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) is a two day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (Offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite foods and drinks of the one being honored. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations!

Day of the Dead is a rare holiday for celebrating death and life. It is unlike any holiday where mourning is exchanged for celebration.

Hi, it’s Alex now, so with this one I have to admit I did get really sad doing it, not just for the characters but for the meaning behind it, día de muertos is like my favorite tradition, at times when I was ashamed of being Mexican, día de muertos stood proud in my mind because it was something that was just here, something that Mexicans had, and it beautiful, and colorful and has so much love behind everything. But also I wanted to portrait how (at least me) we are willing to share with the world, I’ve seen a lot of TikTok’s of people of other countries saying that they love the altars and that they want to do one for their loved ones, but that they don’t know if it’s okay, and below there are so many messages of Mexicans inviting them to do the research and to put one. Is that sense of that’s the point of these days, to remember in a loving way the life of those who are gone, and share the sentiment with the world. Here is portrait with Sirius not knowing if he can put Reg’s photo, and James just smiles at him (he already had a place ready for him, he was just waiting to see if Sirius was okay with it). And with this, I invite any of you that want to try and make an altar, or research more about this, to do it, and to try. I think this day connects with all places in the world because we all have someone dear to us that passed away, even if it’s a lil pet.

Maybe I am writing a fic where Regulus and Sirius are vampires and they murdered their entire family and they're pathetic because they saw two friends at a party once and one was full of scars was exactly Sirius' type and the other had a dorky smile and was Regulus's type and they're fucked because they can't fall in love but they do. And they protect James and Remus without them knowing except they do know and they have silly crushes on the two mysterious brothers that look out for them.

Prince Sirius who’s in love with the handsome knight that’s always a step behind him. The only person who’s ever protected him out of care and not just responsibility, even risking his life to stand between Sirius and his parents.

Prince Regulus who’s having a torrid affair through letters with the heir to new Potter fortune. James who is secretly sabotaging every match Walburga and Orion make for their younger son until they concede that while James isn’t their ideal pick, he would be good enough for their son who is just a spare to them.

Sirius who watches his brother marry the love of his life and seeing him happier than he ever has and decides he’ll be okay without his brother. Sirius who, through tears, tells Regulus that he’ll be leaving in the morning with Remus, leaving his brother to pick up the pieces and take the responsibility that Sirius held on his shoulders for the past two decades with no preparation.

Remus who sneaks Sirius out, terrified but knowing there is nothing he wouldn’t do for him.

When the World gets too much

Regulus could see it in James’ cloudy eyes, in the way he is not really present even though he is sitting right next to him. That his mind is miles away, torturing the poor guy. But James still claims he is alright. And he goes to lectures and laughs at jokes their friends make a little bit too loud, he smiles with a grin too wide that makes Regulus’ heart ache. Because he knows it’s just an act. The worst is that nobody else notices it. Regulus watches them go with their day without a second thought.

Regulus had to go to the library for a moment to return some of the books. When he comes back to the group, he can't spot James anywhere.

“Where is he?” Regulus asks his brother.

“Who? James?” Regulus gives him an unimpressed look because, of course, he is talking about James. Who else.

“He was tired, so he went to lie down,” Sirius answers without a blink of an eye.

Regulus just nods as he makes his way to James’ room. As he predicted he finds James lying on a bed with unfocused eyes starting to the distance his fingers nervously fidgeting next to him. James is always like this whenever the world gets too much.

“Jamie,” Regulus whispers softly as he crouches in front of him.

“Regulus...” James tries to smile at him, but it only brings tears to his eyes. “Shit, sorry.” he lifts his hand to hide his face, but Regulus stops him.

“James, it's okay.”

“I'm fine. Just tired.”

“Jamie...” Regulus says his name like he is begging him to just let him in.

James takes a sharp breath. “I'm fine. I'm just tired. Just tired.” he keeps chattering even though tears are staining his face. Regulus climbs into the bed and James instantly wraps himself around his boyfriend. He clings to Regulus like he is his safe line. He is hiding his face in Regulus’ chest embarrassed for the tears. “I'm so tired Reggie,” James whispers and for the first time it doesn't sound like an excuse but something, James is really feeling. He says it like it’s his darkest secret like it’s something shameful.

“I got you. I'm here James. What do you need?” James just tightens his grip around his boy without saying a word.

“What about a hot bath?” Regulus asks because he feels that James is slightly shaking in his arms. He is aware that it's probably not from the cold. But still, it could help him calm down.

“I... Sure.” James says but even an absolutely oblivious person would hear the hesitation in his voice.

“What is it?” Regulus props himself on his elbows. James looks at him like Regulus will get up every second and leave. “Tell me, please.”

The boy hesitates for a long time. “I'm sorry. I don't want to bother you..." Regulus would scold him for saying this if not for the way James is clearly struggling to get the words out. “I want to be near you. Can you stay, please?”

Regulus kisses his cheek tasting the saltiness of the tears on his lips.

“Of course, I will stay with you. We can get a bath together. If you want to.”

James shakily inhales with relief. “Yeah. That would... I would like that. I'm sorry Reggie.”

“You have nothing to be sorry about,” Regulus says without a waiver, and he tugs James from the bed.

“Thank you...” James whispers.
