I often think that when it comes to alternate American flags, the flag of the American People's Commonwealth from the Hearts of Iron IV mod "Red World" goes particularly hard.

It sends exactly the kind of message you want for the flag of a revolutionary socialist American state.

Deacon Ysolt & a thing of Morgan -- intellectual property retrieval or something along that line. Morgan's (now disabled) tracking chip is something that she can't remove, and she hates it. Deacon Ysolt is a veteran of a fucked up war that lost her both an eye and a leg to shrapnel. In the field hospital she saw a vision, and in a moment of desperate, scrambling belief, she made the Drowned Heart manifest. As with all "gods" of her setting, the Drowned Heart's circle of influence is limited to Ysolt and her followers. It is much less a god than a snarling, snapping manifestation of that moment of liquid-lung panic.

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.
