They were forced to separate when Sahar and Ahmed went to Egypt for medical treatment, thinking they would be back with their children soon, but due to the events of Oct. 7th, 2023, they were not able to.

One of Sahar's children, Walaa, is also a type 1 diabetic and desperately needs her insulin to survive.
