05.03.2024—storygraph update. finished 77 books in Feb, on to March. my user is lottie1803, drop me yours and I’ll follow back. 🤍
(side note that all reading is good reading, i have hyperlexia and naturally read very fast. i average about 2 books a day. i am currently studying part time so have more time to read. i do lean towards shorter books, but read a fair amount between 300-400 pages according to my stats)

So, I still track on Goodreads, bc I was an early adopter and it's social in a way that StoryGraph hasn't managed to be for me (yet), but I'm a bit behind on tracking there, so I thought I'd screencap my progress. This is from mid-late June 2023, so sort of Mid Year Ish.
I would say that more like 98% of my books are LGBTQIA+, but the genres are getting more accurate as time goes by (and it is definitely leading the pack). SG is also getting better at having the obscure queer romance books I read, but there are a few still missing.
Today, I have 277 books listed on GR, so I'm going to try and catch up a bit on SG this weekend.
I might post my answers to the Mid Year Check In, too, bc I love to share my fave books and see what other people are into.

Friendly reminder that if you talk about how representation is important and how there's not enough diverse media, I implore you to seek out the media that already exists. And if you live in an area with a public library, go to see if they're available at your public library. And then go check them out.
As a librarian, it is demoralizing to see how low the circulation statistics are on lgbt+ books and books by BIPOC authors. I include them in displays and readers advisory, but people still don't check them out as much. Libraries only have a finite amount of resources, including space. We don't get a book then keep it forever. If not enough people check it out, we have to get rid of it to make room for more books. And when James Patterson Book #69 gets checked out 30 times in one year and cool, subversive Sci fi novel with a Black trans woman main character has never been checked out once, the librarian (me) has to make a hard decision.
If you're looking for something tangible and easy to do this pride month, look for lgbt+ books (there are millions of lists online that you can find. It's easier than it's ever been to find diverse books) and check them out from your library.
No time to read? Look for a short story or poetry anthology and just read as much as you have time for. Or just check out a book cus it looks interesting and read as much as you can. We have movies too.
As cool as it would be for me to just keep the books I want and get rid of the ones I don't, I have to listen to the community on matters of collection development. And the community tells me what books they want by checking them out and leaving the ones they don't want on the shelf.
If you think this doesn't apply to you because you live in a progressive area and obviously the books are being checked out, you're wrong. I once worked in a community with a large lgbt population. Those books were not getting checked out. If you want to tell me you live in a conservative area and your library doesn't have any diverse books, you are legally obligated to check the catalog before replying to this post. I currently work in a conservative community and we have lgbt+ and bipoc books. And if you still cannot find any, you are legally obligated to see if your library has a collection request form that patrons can fill out before replying to this post.

✨2023 Wrapped✨
I'm a sucker for statistics, so here's a little graphical analysis of my reading statistics from 2023.
Here's a few details I find interesting compared to my stats of 2022:
I read less than I did in 2022, but I did read more larger books and less comics. I also read less anthologies. So my overall average book length is higher and I did read more pages in total.
My average rating is the same as it was in 2022. I had more 5 star books than in 2022, but also more extremely low rated books.
The highest rated book I read this year is from my friend, and I'm really glad her book managed to surpass even "Fourth Wing" which has a whooping 4,62.
I read a little less non-fiction this year.
I read a little less anthologies this year.
It seems the largest category I read in was romance. And I'm really surprised it is. I do like romance, but it isn't my go to genre. I like when it acts as a very strong subplot, but otherwise I don't reach out to such books. I'm also pleasantly surprised that horror took up a nice percentage as well. Looking back, I feel as if I haven't read that much horror this year, but I guess I was wrong.
Croatian authors took up first place with a really impressive 37%. I did read quite a lot of local authors this year, and I hope I'll keep that same percentage in the year to come. The truth is, Croatian literature is often overlooked in local book communities and seen as lesser, especially compared to international booksellers, but there's quite a few prominent authors and I read some really unique work from them this year!
I chose just a few books to represent my favorites of this year, with "Gideon the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir taking the spotlight. "A Day of Fallen Night" by Samantha Shannon, "If We Were Villains" by M. L. Rio, "The Betrayals" by Bridget Collins, and "Od Kolijevke do Groba" by Antonija Mežnarić are all a very, very close second, and I recommend each and every one of them if you're looking for a good read.
Overall, I'm happy what 2023 brought me reading wise. I had a lot of fun discovering new works and authors, and had just a few true disappointments. A thing I finally want to learn in 2024 is to stay away from popular books because they're clearly not for me.
That's it! I hope 2023 was a good reading year for you too! Feel free to comment some of your statistics and your feats (however big or small they are) and happy New Years! I wish you all good luck, lots of love and happiness!

Time to Crunch Some Numbers | Reading Stats 2022
Woah we are already 2 weeks into 2023 and it just seems to be going way too fast. It means that it is about time for that time of year where I dive into my reading stats of the previous year. In 2021 I read a 110 books. In 2022 I read 130. That is something to consider when comparing. Previous years 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 Ratings So here we are. The darker purple is…

hi hi friends! i hope you’re doing well! today, i am giving you my quarter one wrap up for 2024 – filled with all the books i’ve read, a few favorites of those, and all the statistics of my reading these last three months! in january, february, and march i read 20 things! which i am happy about, but i do wish it was a little higher, since i do always like to hit 100 books read by the end of the year, but i was traveling a lot these last few months, and i have nothing really planned until july, so hopefully i am able to compensate a little with 30 books in my q2 post! but now i am getting way ahead of myself, and i don’t want to make this year feel like it is going even quicker than it already feels all on its own, so let’s do a little deep dive on these 20 books that i was able to read! ✨ Q1 STATISTICS  (thank you to brock at let’s read, for creating this spreadsheet that i have used for so many years!) i figured that i would show my favorite graph all on its own this time! plus, i think this really encompasses that i have been having a good reading quarter. maybe not the best, maybe i wish for more fives to come, but i really can’t complain too much when more than half of the things i’ve been reading have been four stars! and only one two star which is always a good feeling to see, too! 💕 i normally stick to just showing pie charts for my reading data, but i have been really loving visually seeing my data in this format too. i am very happy with reading over 8k pages over these three months! i also really like seeing that i reread three things, because incorporating rereading books has been something i’ve struggled with in my reading life for a while now. and i also just think it’s cool to see how many pages i’ve read via audio books, as well! (shout out to spotify, i do love you and those free 15 hours every month!) as always, fantasy is my most read genre, but i really have been craving and gravitating to a lot of romance this year so far (and a lot of fantasy romance – which i categorize by what the book feels most like to me between the two)! i’ve also been reading books from my personal library so much this year, which makes me feel good, because i love buying books knowing that i am excited to pick them up soon! i am a little surprised that penguin is my most read publishing house, and not macmillan, but we do love when the graphs are changing up sometimes! but that 5% hachette, probably just because of holly black, is very wild to see. i love seeing these charts and graphs, and they bring me so much happiness all by themselves, but i also love being able to kind of reassess my reading and how i’m doing each quarter because of them! besides really wanting to read 30 books in the second quarter, i would also like to start maybe prioritizing arcs a little more. i have been so good about doing at least mini reviews for everything i’ve read (yes, all twenty things have been reviewed), but i kind of miss reviewing things before they are officially published, too! 🤍 THREE FAVORITE READS OF Q1  (click title links for full reviews with detailed thoughts, feelings, and tw/cws!) ✨ The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez heartfelt galaxy brain that truly touched my very soul ✨ The Secret Lives of Church Ladies by Deesha Philyaw maybe my favorite anthology of all time ✨ The Wilful Princess and the Piebald Prince by Robin Hobb the greatest tragedy i’ve read in many years Q1 BOOK HAUL  these are all the books that i’ve received since january 1st! well, i did buy other editions of the warm hands of ghosts and the prisoner’s throne, too! but the stack was getting a little too high, so i just added my favorite versions! a couple of these were gifts that i am very thankful for! and a few are arcs sent to me by publishers which i am also so very thankful for! (i have only read four of these though – so let me rectify that asap 😉 too!) okay friends, i think that’s everything! truly, i am so thankful for these last three months and i hope the rest of the ye...

Wind is not ok
Idk how to pinpoint it. It's something about how since Dawn part four, almost 45 percent of the sentences he's said have ended in questions marks or been directly theorising. How the Link who figured out the most about the timeline with ease hasn't spoken much outside of theorising about the monsters, the postman, the shadow. How he whipped his blade out the fastest and went for the fairy.
It's something to do with how the most expressive Link had tears standing in his eyes when Twilight was ill but never once let them fall. It's something to do with how the most energetic hasn't been the center of attention but has been on the sidelines for quite a few updates. How he told Hyrule it's about being ready for the variety and has seemingly been ready ever since.
It's something with how for the past ten updates (we're at entrance pt 3 now), he has only smiled on ten out of ninety pages. How an extremely reliable Kid appears the most ready outside of Sky to rip the shadows throat out, after being pushed by him in battle like he was nothing. How angry he looks when talking about the shadow.
It's something about how he yelled in Legend's face that they had to help, questioning if Twilight was corrupted or possessed. Something about how this kid sincerely asked his brother if he was feeling evil and hasn't stop asking questions since.

king arthur and the body of sir (cei)
god kay makes me so sad. idk!! it's something about how his character becomes transformed in later narratives to the point of unrecognizability. it's lonely to read about!!! it's like you've buried someone, and then you turn around and someone who looks like them is standing right there, but it's also Not Them.
