911 is so beautifully heavy handed i love it so much. the lakers tickets being a call back to how they got together (basketball game that turned buck evil and was literally about eddie). tommy being the one to randomly bring up eddie. i'm not your last. eddie defensively saying i'm straight. eddie letting himself feel joy and then literally opening the door to buck. they are not dropping crumbs they are dropping entire loafs of bread and i am saying THANK YOU

i know this is old news by now but the part of the will scene that fucks me up the most is that buck says, you said you did this last year. why are you just telling me this now. meaning, why didn't you tell me when you changed your will? and eddie responds, because, evan. you came in here the other day and you said you thought it would have been better if it had been you who had been shot. meaning, this is why i decided to tell you now. buck asks the question why didn't you tell me before and eddie responds to the question why am i telling you at all. he explains why he changed his mind, not why he hid it from buck in the first place. eddie. eddie. why didn't you tell buck that you changed your will. how are you baring your soul to buck and you're still having two different conversations.

not to give this show too many flowers but i do think the buck plot is good and fits with his character because he does need praise to live and he also historically has had issues following orders because he will always choose his own impulsive reaction over falling in line and he and bobby figured out a dynamic that worked but now he has to work under a captain who is Not His Dad, who not only isn't going to give him Special Baby Boy privileges he refuses to give buck even an inch of validation or praise like this IS bucks version of the torture nexus it's the anti-praise he cannot survive under constant negging it makes perfect sense that he started having a mental break and personally i love it when the show pushes and pushes right on bucks issues until he snaps, that's when he's at his most fun as an unhinged and imperfect character

if this episode showed one thing it is that buck is very capable of making smart decisions and has good leadership skills. so who is going to be interim captain while gerrard is out 👀

and what if they pull a janine and gregory in the finale of season 2 on buck and eddie? what if they know they like each other but then just decide they are "not ready for it" yet? then what? who is gonna pine more and who will be unnecessarily reckless because life has no meaning without everything of the other?
