Just imagining what it would be like dating Loki and living with him, and like trying to get him to do chores. Just like imagine if it were raining outside, and so you haven't left the house in almost a week. At first it was kinda nice because you'd sit in Loki's lap while he's stretched out on the couch, braiding your hair while you're watching movies or listening to music or reading.
Loki is kinda lazy because he grew up being pampered by servants and his mother on Asgard, but he loves a clean home and being surrounded by nice things. He doesn't love doing chores, though. You guys would be lazy together for those first few days. Then the dishes would pile up, the plants would need watering, and the mailbox would be full of unpaid bills.
Since Loki is clueless about how bills work you would go to your desk by the window, grab your laptop, and the little pink spray bottle for the plants. "Get the plants, please," you'd say.
Loki would roll his eyes and probably over water the plants, but then magic them back to perfect health later -- you'd never need to know. Then he would start on the dishes, and you'd be on the phone arguing with the bank or insurance company. Then he throw himself down on the couch and look at you accusingly because for some reason you always insisted on balancing the bank account by hand and it always took forever.
"Y/N." He would say quietly and impatiently you while you chewed on your pen.
"Not now," you'd say, waving him off. "I'm almost done."
And Loki would flick his wrist, sending the pen flying from your hand.
"Loki!"
"Y/N!"
"What if the app is wrong?" You'd ask. "What if the account overdrafts and I have to pay a fee?"
Loki would round the desk. Then he'd reach over your shoulder and close the laptop with a click. "Then I'll get you more money to pay it off with."
"You wouldn't do anything illegal, though?" You'd ask uncertainly because it'd obviously be hard to tell if Silvertongue was lying.
"I make no promises," he'd smirk down at you. Then he'd pick you up, throw you over his shoulder like a ragdoll, and bring you back to the couch with him.

Of all the villains in these comics i've read for marvel, I feel like Loki is one of the more sympathetic ones. If only because of the fundamental nature of gods. Gods are like mortals, but they're also far more powerful. Honestly, Loki and Thor constantly fighting and having violent and theatrical power struggles may just be an ordinary thing for the gods. At least that's the way i'm tempted to look at it. Because it adds an extra layer of disconnect between asgard and midgard.
Unlike magneto or doctor doom or whatever, loki isn't someone who does evil because he himself had power mad goals of evil. He's just the god of evil. He's tied to this primordial concept, and so his life is that of a man embodying the concept of evil. Just as galactus eats planets simply because he must, loki does evil things because it's just a part of his nature. And i think that's interesting.

It’s interesting bringing up the sperm donor storyline in the middle of the Buckley / Han parents arguing about what makes a real parent. Donor not dad, of course. But absentee parents (the Buckleys, Chim’s dad) vs dedicated parental figures (Maddie and the Lees) as well. Biology vs Love and which actually makes a family.
While we also have Buck and Bobby loudly being father and son-- the cooking, the handmedown recipe, the secret ingredient, and then Bobby protectively cradling Buck’s lifeless body at the end.
And Buck - Chim - Hen - Eddie discussing Actual Family when they are clearly bonded as a Family with their games and chores (and four way calls in 6x09)
Something something family is not biology, your family is people who love you anyway and care for you regardless. You don’t find it (aren’t given it) you make it.

God, you know ... I've been thinking about this for months, but the more it sits in my brain, the more hilarious it becomes.
The whole Odinson/daughter family would absolutely HATE Succession. Like, if Mobius or Tony Stark felt like being an absolute dick, this would be the show they'd put on when any one of them is around. I mean ...
Logan Roy = Abusive, narcissistic father who pits his kids against one another to inherit his corporate Dynasty.
Kendall Roy = The narcissistic golden boy. Dad's "favorite". Shit to his younger siblings and entitled as fuck. Thinks Roystar will be his.
Roman Roy = Oh, boy, here he is. My favorite slime puppy. The runt of the litter. Dad's favorite to abuse. Uses humor and assholery to hide Pain(TM). Actually, the smartest of the bunch and closest to "the favorite".
Shiv Roy = Only girl in the fam battling against the absolute misogynistic sausage fest of her siblings; ruthless and sharp but not that sharp; destroys everything for everyone but herself.
Connor Roy = Baldur
... just.
Tumblr media
Look at them. Look at them and tell me this isn't the dysfunctional Asgardian family in a nutshell. Succession is a satire on American capitalism and a Shakespearean familial tragedy. It makes sense.

I've seen people talk about how LOTR is so great partly because it takes its world and characters completely seriously.
And that got me wondering, because I absolutely agree, but I feel like I'm in the minority here. It seems like we've moved into a period where it is deeply uncool to take fantasy seriously in mainstream film.
So, do you think a film made today with strong fantasy elements would be successful if it was as serious and earnest at LOTR?

Marvel/SMT Crossover Idea
Why this crossover? ...Why not?
It's overall a pretty basic idea at the moment. I would do my best to combine what I can of the Marvel Universe and the SMT Universe, highly likely leaning into the mythological sides of both, maybe trying to figure out how to fit things like mutants in as I go along?
Going with what I have learned through some research of my own and a bit of the SMT playthroughs I have been catching live on Twitch, I would have likely go for a sort of combination of both Marvel Thor and SMT Thor, having it be that Marvel Thor's human identity Eric Masterson is acting as the Knowledge of SMT Thor, creating a Nahobino.
I have yet to play an SMT game so I'm not as well versed as I would like to be, however I am thinking of picking up SMTV at some point. You can only learn so much on a game without playing it, you know?
Wish I could say more, but sometimes I got basic ideas and can only write some of it out.

A newspaper celebrates Marvel publicly outting their first gay superhero in 1992. The character Northstar was originally introduced to the Marvelverse in 1979 in the X-Men comics. Other noteable queer Marvel characters include Loki, Arnie Roth, Bobby Drake/Ice Man, Peter Quill/Star Lord, Wade Wilson/Deadpool, America Chavez, and Nico Minoru.
Google it, incels.

Thor's hammer is made of a unique metal that I don't think I've seen many other comics tell about. But the early Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Thor comics always bring up how Mjolnir is an enchanted uru mallet or something. They never really explain what uru metal is or why it's so powerful, but my best guess would just be that it's a metal unique to asgard. So it's what most norse gods have their weapons made out of, or something.
This is just one of many metals marvel made up though, which i find funny. Because we also have vibranium and adamantium. marvel just has three random fictional metals, and i don't know why. Three fictional metals. Not fictional cities like DC, but metals. It's such a weird thing. It's just kind of interesting to think about, i guess.

kennings can be such a tender thing
they can also be kind of rude
#norse mythology#read a thought that kennings are used so abundantly because people were that familiar with the stories#haven’t been the same since#i’ll be reading a poem and they’ll call loki ‘thor’s friend’ one line and randomly ‘the coward’ in the next#love all the different names…#they called thor ‘the giantess’s friend’ which is Different. in a good way#whenever i read kennings for sigyn i lose my mind a little#i i need more poetry. and prose as well. i need it all. i need to learn every ancient language and also some modern ones immediately.#‘gold is called- [lists ninety things]” hel YEAH it is tell me all about it#‘here is how to periphrase xyz’ and then you tell me a story explaining why?? thank you snorri this is all i need in life#shout out to that one guy who interchangeably used ‘loke’ ‘loptur’ and ‘loðurr’ in his poem. and then also called utgard-loki ‘loke’-#—in the second half. inclusion of lodurr (who is often regarded as a Different Guy) really packed it in xD but the translators clarified-#-‘Asa-Loki’ in the annotations which was nice#i like when they use odin-names to mean ‘god’#or when they use anyone’s name in other context to mean warrior#and how that poet uses several random jotun-names interchangeably to refer to it utgard-loki’s disguise#anyway#kennings are cool#define them by their relationships and feats and stories i am SO here for it#ALSO THEY USED ‘sons of goats’ TO MEAN. YOU GUESSED IT. GOATS

I wonder if the reason they gave Tyr both hands in GOWR is because with the giant’s prophecies the depictions of him (figure with a helmet, beard, and spear) are actually supposed to be Kratos (has beard and spear at least by the end of the game) and it would be Too Obvious the difference between them if prophecies involving Tyr were missing a hand and the ones that are supposed to be Kratos have both
