Randall would be Shadow's Tom? You are so wrong!

I saw a Reddit post saying that if Sonic has Tom and Knuckles has Wade, then Shadow is going to be paired with Randall, yes?

YOU ARE WRONG. YOU ARE SO WRONG.

Not only would Shadow absolutely clinge to JoJo because she's the closest thing to Maria we have in the cast...

BUT YOU ALL ARE FORGETTING ABOUT STONE. YOU. ALL. ARE. FORGETING. ABOUT. STONE.

He knows what unconditional love, and grief, feel like.

He's a genious (let´s not forget my man knows several languages, plotted a scheme to support Eggman as soon as he could come back, made a secret evil lair full of tech in his absence... and he even pretended to be a GUN soldier and found out about Shadow himself when Eggman was out of the equation).

He's morally grey, His reason to be either "good" or "evil" is determined by someone he loves.

And, the most important one. He loves coffee. He had a cafeteria. He makes incredible lattes. Like, c'mon, does Randall have good coffee beans and tiramisu to give Shadow as a treat after all that trauma? No? Then get out!

But there is also that part where both Sonic and Knuckles teach Tom and Wade a lesson. Sonic helps Tom see that he was already changing the world for better and being a hero by helping his small community, and Knuckles helps Wade being his best version and learn to be more capable.

Shadow? He would be perfect for Stone. Cause our man deserves better!!! And there are two main things that make me think of that:

Unconditional love doesn't equal having to be silent about abuse. He can speak up when Robotnik bullies and belittles him. He's as valid as him, no more, no less.

Independence! Shadow is a character that, in the game canon, had to go through hell and back to become who he is now, and Stone has no idea of who he is in Robotnik's absence, he was always his tool. Shadow's discovery journey can be Stone's as well. Now, that would be a hell of a spin-off!

In conclussion, Stone and Shadow are the perfect team and I'll die on this hill.

I am wondering if Randall's character is going to come back, especially because he's a GUN agent and could be the audience's 'in' for the agency for the 3rd movie.

Especially if he's still with Rachel... Part of me dislikes that, because their whole relationship was a scam and I don't like that. He doesn't deserve her after lying to her.

Jim Carrey is back, and in multiple roles no less, in the first trailer for Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Although he has repeatedly stated since 2022 that he is ready to retire from acting, Carrey returned for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, reprising his role from the first two movies as Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik. However, the official trailer for the hotly-anticipated sequel, which sees Team Sonic reluctantly teaming up with Robotnik, also revealed that Carrey will play a second character, Robotnik’s grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik.

Who is Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s Gerald Robotnik?

Professor Gerald Robotnik first appeared in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2, where it was revealed that he led Project Shadow, a medical and military research program conducted by the United Federation around fifty years ago. The goal was to create the ultimate weapon and immortality, with Robotnik hoping that whatever came out of the project could help cure his granddaughter Maria’s illness. Shadow the Hedgehog is the result of that project.

It remains to be seen how much Sonic the Hedgehog 3 adapts Sonic Adventure 2, although the trailer does feature Shadow bonding with a young girl played by Alyla Browne, who could be Maria Robotnik. Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, John Wick) is set to voice Shadow, who was previously teased at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog, with Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba also back as the voices of Miles “Tails” Prower and Knuckles the Echidna, respectively. Besides Carrey, the live-action cast for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 includes returning stars James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, Natasha Rothwell as Rachel, Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone, Tom Butler as Commander Walters, Adam Pally as Wade Whipple, and Shemar Moore as Randall Handel, as well as Krysten Ritter as Director Rockwell.

Directed by Jeff Fowler from a screenplay written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024.

conclusion: theres literally no theme here but i still believe in option 3. i believe.

i don’t see this talked about very often bc it is largely unimportant to the scheme of things but there is like. a debate to be had, right. until sonic 2 stone was our One named government agent. and he is always addressed as agent stone or stone which gives it a very Last Name Gravitas. however the name ‘stone’ being both a feasible last name and just a random object name means that like. stone could be his last name. or it could be a code name.

and the thing is i don’t know if movie 2 ever answered that which really makes me laugh because we do now have a second named agent, but when he’s actively known to be on duty he’s only addressed as ‘agent’, and ‘agent handel (? no official spelling yet)’. which also falls into this theme of ‘name that could be both a real name or a code name’ ie handel sounds exactly like Handle

i guess you can say commander walters kinda bursts this bubble unless you count him as separate from Agents or try to kinda stretch to make it work (like Waters or Altars or something) but i feel like since he’s a commander he doesn’t disrupt my Agent Theory. so here are my conclusions about Dumb Agent Theory

1. the agents do indeed use code names, which means we are missing a first AND last name for stone

2. the agents don’t use code names, and these two’s naming isn’t actually a convention and no other agents would go along with this

3. the agents don’t use code names, BUT they all coincidentally all have names that sound like random object names. by accident.
