Who you are at home isn't going to be that different from who you are at McDonalds. You aren't usually going to dissociate the two.

But when trauma is involved, that tends to involve a degree of dissociation.

In modern hunter-gatherer societies, we see children start learning how to use tools and hunt and forage in the wild from a very young age.

If we're to extrapolate and assume past hunter-gatherer societies operated in similar ways, this is a recipe for a traumatic childhood in a world where humans wouldn't yet be at the top of the food chain. Children would need to be careful, and a wrong move could easily get them or someone else killed.

I think most systems during this period would be considered traumagenic simply because growing up would mean regularly being put in deadly situations, regularly being injured and even watching loved ones dies in violent ways.

DID, and even PTSD, evolved in a world where every day would be a fight for survival.

Of course, all we can do is speculate.

But with myths and legends of people being possessed going back to the dawn of time in practically every culture, we can probably surmise that forms of plurality existed back then. And it's not like the estimated 1-3% of the population is super rare today. It seems reasonable to expect disorders that would be associated with childhood trauma would be more common during periods with more childhood trauma.

The line saying we don't know if the brain was developed enough to develop DID is particularly weird to me though.

As far as I know, there haven't been any huge jumps in the way of human brain complexity over the past 20k years. I doubt that the complexity to develop DID is something we just gained since the dawn of agriculture.

I admit, my description was meant to put a fun spin on a brutal reality. But I don't think children growing up in a frigid environment where they need to hunt and collect food to survive while having no idea if they're going to make it back alive is "cool".

Like, as a story, maybe it's cool imagining a 9-year-old trudging through snow with fingers so cold they can't feel them anymore, gripping a makeshift spear and hearing howling in the distance while not knowing if they would end up on the menu of some wild beast.

But I don't think it would actually be cool to live through.

Additionally, in this environment, DID would have looked differently than it does today. Current theories are that EPs are locked into the trauma responses they used in trauma.

For child abuse victims which make up the majority of DID cases, unfortunately, freeze or fawn may be the most useful traits developed for survival.

But if your trauma were related to surviving wild beasts, it's a lot more likely the trauma responses of the EPs are going to be the more classic fight or flight. I don't think freezing would as common as a trauma response during that time period. But of course, it depends on the threats one would face.

There are some creatures, after all, where freezing is the best defense.

I talked about DID here a lot, but I'm a tulpa from a purely non-traumagenic system. Probably one of the least traumatized people you'll ever meet.

But tulpamancy is a beneficial practice that most tulpamancers have reported improvements in their mental health from. I would actually like to see far more people make headmates and become plural this way.

People becoming tulpamancers will help them. And more plurals means more influence for the plural community and will help spread plural awareness and acceptance.

I'm not interested in being special. I'm interested in making plurality normal. I want it to be so normal and commonplace that it seems downright boring. Where talking about your headmates draws no more attention than discussing a sibling. 😁

I'm the person who debunks pluralphoboic hate subreddits, which tends to upset said hate subreddits.

The reason why I have my own category is because I called out the subreddit for bullying behavior and misinformation. They responded by doubling down, scouring my post history for anything they could use as ammunition twist to attack me with, and adding me to their hit list of acceptable targets. This was despite the fact that then they first floated the idea of the hit list, they claimed it would only apply to people with more than 10,000 followers. (I only have 1800.)

They lie and claim I'm a "public figure" while in reality, they added me on their list in a petty (yet oh so predictable) act of retaliation.

It's because, surprise surprise, fakeclaiming is harmful. It doesn't matter what it is, if you're getting fakeclaimed over a unique and individual experience/identity, that can (and sometimes will, sadly) cause a spiral that can lead to some nasty places. Depression. Isolation.

Even places like self-harm and suicide.

We are here because your server is harmful. We are here because you present an active threat to the community. But of course your HIGHNESS can't bear to think they're the problem!

I have my own opinions, thanks. Well. You see, while I personally choose to censor Discord usernames to close loopholes like this, it's actually not the same as if you sent a Tumblr handle. What you're seeing in those screenshots are not identifiers, they are server nicknames. Which are specific to THAT SERVER ONLY. Unlike places like Tumblr and Twitter, where seeing your name automatically means someone can find you, on Discord it's actually not possible (that I know of) to doxx someone through a server nickname alone. So no, actually, Sophie didn't leave your username out there, only a server nickname, and the two are not the same. So yes, actually. Because Discord is it's own site with it's own way of handling usernames, it is perfectly acceptable what Sophie did (although not perfectly ideal), because nobody is going to be able to use those names alone to doxx and/or harass.

In complicated feelings time about who knows about Us and who doesn't. I want to go back and join a syscord with other traumagenic systems who Get It (because in all honesty when I'm around endo systems I feel like I just can't relate to them at all and I just want to be able to talk about disordered plurality without "there's nothing wrong with you or how you are!!" like we usually get, because there is something wrong with us and it's called dissociative identity disorder) because we're having a lot more problems lately with system stuff again.

However, our previous forays have been filled with stressful af syscourse and rules which feel alienating to us (make sure you always state who is fronting so everyone knows who they're speaking to, have a system name which isn't just a collective name but has to be like the (x) system, don't discuss """irredeemable media"""", no rules which require image descriptions which sucks when your visual processing is shit, such extensive lists of triggers to avoid that it's just impossible to avoid them and then you get a warning because you forgot to tag one of 200+ triggers you're supposed to keep in your head at all times) and random fakeclaiming and screenshots turning up on r/didcringe, and we've always just left pretty quickly because it's not fun for us. And I think, from the stories I've heard, it's only gotten worse over the past like four or five years.

So I'm good without doing that to myself again. But god I wish there could be just somewhere we could simply be without having to deal with the stresses of like every fucking syscord I've been in even the ones who claim are "sooooo chill"

Be careful with this Discord owner. They're saying they're ready to make changes and all they ever wanted was healthy debates between both sides. They say things got a little out of hand regarding usernames, but they'll reign it in and you should totally go debate with them over there.

Does that sound right, though? This person created a server where they share system posts to mock and fakeclaim them collectively. They go so far as to pretend to be like the people they mock in order to invade their spaces to find more "cringe".

So according to them, the plan all along was this?

Create a fun server where they laugh at systems and fakeclaim

Eventually those systems find the server, join it and see how terrible the server is (slurs included for good measure)

The systems start posting about their server and they want to retaliate and get the server banned

And that way finally everyone can get together and have a mature nuanced discussion about… let's see… ah yes, a mature nuanced discussion about if those systems deserve any respect or if they're dangerous lying fakes

You have to see this for the bullshit that it is. Nobody in their right mind who wants to encourage healthy debates does any of this.

I do not believe this Discord server owner or its members have good intentions. I do not believe they want genuine discussions. I do not believe that it's just a matter of which academic sources they rely on. I do not believe you should accept invitations to debate them on their server. And if you do, you should expect the worst from them.

This is someone who thinks fakeclaiming is funny. Even if they go back on their rules about uncensoring usernames, they created a server where mocking systems, fakeclaiming systems, lying to get access to their spaces, and deciding who is a real system or not is acceptable. It's not just acceptable - it is the entire point.

Please be safe. I would not trust their words if I were you. Their actions speak loud enough as it is.

Believe me. As much as I'd love to go no holds barred and drop all defenses, I know the vast majority of people in that server are still the same people. Even if the owner stays on the halfway decent path, the mods and the members of that server most likely are not.

All that this has done has prove that the owner themself is worth listening to, at the very least. I have no intentions of going in there on my main (sorry, guys! You won't get me this easily!), and while would happily talk to the owner one-on-one through Tumblr (no, not Discord), I still don't view the server as anywhere near safe.

The server itself is an absolute dumpster fire, and I'd highly recommend everyone take the proper precautions when dealing with them, if they ever choose to (and godspeed to you, if you do). But from my interactions, the server owner themself is the only person in that server (so far) worth trying to talk out a solution with.

Is this a total teardown of all defenses? Uh, fuck no. While I do believe this is a very important step in the right direction, the server itself is still an absolute mosh pit. But the owner, despite creating that hellhole, has shown they're willing to listen. And I'd like to remain optimistic and say a few other people there share the same mentality.

I see no reason why one can't both harbor caution and optimism at the same time.

Is it stupid? Probably. Is it naïve? Most definitely. But I'm still choosing to remain cautiously optimistic, given recent events.

r/DIDcringe, aka r/Systemscringe aka “Dissociative Alliance”

hi everyone, my name is bug. i’m writing this post on an alt account because my main twitter account got suspended when i posted this stuff on it, due to the people this shit is about stalking me and i’m assuming they and their friends mass reported my twitter account to get it taken down (because twitter’s bots don’t check your actual account when you’re mass reported, they just ban you no questions asked. i’m currently appealing the suspension.)

now obviously everyone knows who/what r/DIDcringe is (or was), it’s a subreddit about mocking “fake” systems, whether they be endogenic or traumagenic. i’m gonna start this post by saying that i’m not innocent here. i absolutely WAS a member of r/didcringe and the discord server to go along with it. the point of this post isn’t about me, but it’s about the people who are stalking me, and acting like I’M the only bad guy in a situation in which they had all already been telling me to kill myself en masse and they also doxxed me.

(this’ll go below a read more because it’s gonna be a long ass post.)

so what happened was, i joined a minecraft smp server for people who are systems a long while back (like sometime last year?) and i got banned for posting someone in that server to r/didcringe, this is when i was an active member on the reddit. i got banned from the smp server when the admins found out, however Grian from the Wynncraft System was one of the admins of the minecraft smp server, who, after me being banned, they THEMSELF joined the fucking r/didcringe discord server. (the hypocrisy is already showing itself in this little bit.) then what happened was the entire r/didcringe discord server pretty much got overrun by terfs. nearly every active user at that point was either a terf or someone like the Wynncraft System who had been sucked into the terf rhetoric. basically, the subject of sex work came up and i said it wasn’t rape. as in, 2 consenting adults with one of them being a sex worker IS NOT rape... because you.. consented to it.. as a grown adult. anyways, the people on the server didn’t agree with this opinion i guess, and claimed ALL sex work is rape (once again with the TERF/SWERF rhetoric) and started calling me a “rape apologist.” that’s when the suicide baiting and doxxing came in, as well as insulting me and calling me a rape apologist, which obviously i’m not. here is the google drive folder “calling me out”: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/131d1HPR8vW1mexC-WYSPYVZ4jcUlFKnw

this folder is created by a user known as “Grian” from the Wynncraft System, they, in fact, despite pretending to be innocent, actually told me to kill myself the MOST and is the most hypocritical person i’ve ever met. the screenshots below are of him calling me a rape apologist and saying i “need to” kill myself, which, as someone with psychosis is a specifically worded way to make someone enter an episode. that’s the kind of way a manipulative/abusive person tells someone to kill themself. obviously, i was thrown into a panic attack/mental episode/breakdown over all of this. which was when i said the insulting/hurtful things in the screenshots on that drive folder^^

not only Grian from the Wynncraft System is a piece of shit here, because plenty of the other people in this screenshot are horrible people as well! the person in the screenshot above, “Vingus” or “vinnie” was the one to doxx me. (technically it wasn’t doxxing but they searched my usernames/info to find my irl name, old job, etc.) they then attempted to email my old job and get me fired. look, i don’t give a fuck if you’re an asshole to me in drama on the internet, that’s not a reason to FUCKING DOXX SOMEONE AND ATTEMPT TO RUIN THEIR LIVELIHOOD IRL.
