just got a like on my brooklyn 99 jessay-post from a while back which reminded me i've been thinking about the show a lot more bc my brother is currently watching it for the first time so sometimes i'll be in the room while he's watching an episode. and it's such a bizarre experience bc my brother is VERY anti-cop and that made him not want to watch the show at all until a friend convinced him to, and now he really enjoys it in this compartmentalized-way of being like "i know a lot of aspects of this are copaganda but also the character writing and comedy are objectively well done"

and as i'm rewatching bits and pieces it's bizarre bc i also had no desire to rewatch the show after it ended mostly bc of that copaganda aspect and how it fumbled its social commentary in the final season, but damn it i feel myself getting nostalgic and liking the characters. but mostly i feel myself realizing basically all the best parts of brooklyn 99, even if you try to ignore the baggage, have nothing to do with them being cops. it's just a fun group of diverse friends making jokes together! except it isn't, the cop thing will always be the elephant in the room.

i'm not going to reiterate all the points i made in that original essay bc i just reread it and even after properly revisiting brooklyn 99 i think the points i made hold up, but the main thing i think about now is actually an anecdote i heard about when they first decided to adapt "the office" for an american audience. and once of the biggest notes its american showrunners got was you can make michael scott as immature and obnoxious and ridiculous as you want, but you HAVE to make him still good at his job. american audiences won't tolerate that kind of character unless they still get results.

and then you have brooklyn 99. filled with these ridiculous characters having their own zany-and-distracting adventures week after week, but don't worry, they're "good at their job." but when their job is fundamentally an archaic institution responsible for ruining many people's lives and perpetuating the racist prison industrial complex, how "reassuring" is that quality really?

A decade after the end of the 100 Year War, Iroh beams at the massive crowd waiting in the courtyard of the Fire Nation palace. It’s been a long time since he’s been back to his homeland, but he wouldn’t miss this day for anything in the world.

He glances to his right to find his nephew in a formal set of robes that contain splashes of rich maroon and deep navy, his flame-shaped crown glinting in the afternoon sunlight. If Iroh is being honest, he’s never seen Zuko look as happy as he does in this moment. To Iroh’s left is the lovely Master Waterbender who captured his nephew’s heart and has kept it safe all these years. She’s dressed in a beautiful, flowing gown of vibrant crimson and ocean blue, her own crescent moon-shaped crown sparkling for all to see. If her radiant smile is anything to go by, she’s just as happy as the man standing across from her. Their hands are clasped tightly together, and their eyes have not left one another’s.

Iroh turns his attention to the crowd, which is full of members across the nations.

In a voice that’s both loud and gentle, he announces, “We are gathered here on this momentous day to celebrate a sacred union between my nephew, Fire Lord Zuko, and Master Katara of the Southern Water Tribe. I have been asked by both of these truly astounding individuals to officiate this ceremony, and it is my greatest honor to do so. I must begin by saying that marriage is many things. It is love. It is commitment. It is joy. It is understanding. It is patience. It is anger. It is reconciliation. It is everything. It is like tea.” He pauses to grin widely, gesturing with his hands. “It…sustains you.”

Finally removing his gaze from his soon-to-be Fire Lady, Zuko rolls his eyes fondly at Iroh, chuckling softly. “Uncle, you couldn’t leave the tea out of this, could you?”

Iroh shakes his head, giving a gentle pat to Zuko’s shoulder. “Just wait until you hear my speech during the reception. It’s all about tea.”

Katara giggles, her eyes shining with warmth and love. “Sounds perfect. We can’t wait.”

Okay, so I dedicated my first smut in English to Chaggie:

Charlie Morningstar, the Princess of Hell, is very much a pillow princess. Luckily, Vaggie loves being her service top. However, what happens if Charlie decides to shift their dynamic in bed and tie her tough-looking girlfriend up for her own good?

As the title and summary above suggests, this fanfic is about Charlie help Vaggie relearn the way of trust through bondage. Yes, they have kinky s3x in this, but they also talk about the problem of seeming imbalances in their relationship (in bed and beyond). I believe that they are both switches actually, and I want Charlie to validate Vaggie as an equal partner.

Some trigger warnings other than the consensual kinks: I headcanon that Vaggie suffered from bullying in the angelic army and has mental health issues stemmed from her past traumatic events. There is a graphic scene portraying the physical attack and non-consensual restraints that she endured during an incident in the exorcist days, and another scene of her mental breakdown after the hotel opening.

Note that the first chapter is the fic and the second chapter is some lores I wrote for this fic for your reference (Vaggie's origin, sexuality, gender expression, mental health issues, etc.)

Blair Carter (@spurgees) is here to take over the media world with her videos AND podcasting abilities dammit! She will do whatever it takes to hit 500K subs in her first year online, and she'll do it all by herself if she has to.

Cause she wants it that way.

Time is money, and eating takes time, but time spent at only 50% energy is also time wasted. So she begrudgingly made herself a mean grilled cheese sandwich.

And then she got to work. While listening to "Lurk Ditch" By Schmitney Peers.

Levels good? Check.

Noise reduction on the mic? Check.

No nosy neighbors looking at what she's doing through the window? Check.

Perfect media station with ring lights and more? CHECK CHECK CHECK!

Her first video was a review of the new Devlon Eye Palette. It's not the kind of videos she really wants to make--she's more of the "Spill The Tea On The Neighborhood" Type--but it'll do for a start.

"You can do this, Blair," she told herself as she adjusted the light.

"And....ACTION!"

An hour and a half later, the video was finished and uploaded. Truthfully, she didn't want to polish the end product that much. She thinks it'll help her chances if she starts off looking kind of amateur.

And instead of sitting at the table waiting for action, Blair decided to nap it out. There's no chance of her distracting herself from the anticipation otherwise.

Next morning, Blair checked the traction, not even pausing to wash her FACE.

She gained 1000 followers!

It seems they liked her attitude and makeup application skills. Some comments were quoting their favorite jokes of hers with the timestamps attached.

Of course, there was one hater comment: "Who cares?"

But that only inspired our girl to change her bio:
