Cryptogenic : an alternate to quoigenic, meaning a system that doesn't know their origin. It comes from the word "crypto", meaning concealed or secret, or referencing cryptids, i.e. unknown.

Hello everyone! I had a couple of questions and I hope they're okay to ask (if not please ignore).

I'm wondering what the difference between a "regular" system and a quoigenic system is? I've not heard that term used before.

I was also curious to know if alterhuman alters have physical voices or if they just make noise inside the headspace (if you have one).

Hello! No worries, we're happy to answer.

"Quoigenic" just means our origin is undefined. Some systems are traumagenic, which means they were formed from trauma. Some are endogenic, which means they were formed from things other than trauma. Quoigenic (with the prefix "quoi" taken from the french word for "what") just means that you don't want to define your origin, that it doesn't matter to you, or that it's confusing to define. For us, we have a real confusing start to our system so it'd be hard to pick apart the actual starting point, and we don't think defining ourselves either by our trauma or by not being traumaformed would be helpful to us. Origin doesn't matter in our eyes, we're a system regardless.

As for the second question, I'm assuming you mean nonhuman and/or animals, because alterhuman does include humans and non-animals! But all of our headmates can "speak" and be understood. Animal headmates usually speak like humans in our headspace because we do all live in the same body that collectively understands English, or they don't "speak" English at all but we're able to understand them anyway regardless of if they make noises or make no sound at all, by virtue of sharing a brain. It's kind of explained similarly to telepathy--You don't need words to talk to non-english-speaking headmates in our brain, they can just sort of "beam" the thoughts over and you can understand what they intend, without literal speech being used.

Lotus saw someone doing some trick to figure out if they have any new alters. For reasons I’m not personally sure of, she tried it for herself and realized that she wasn’t Olivia. And then we just got more signs from there.

Plural friend said there were but never elaborated. I guess probably phantom limbs. Sorta just appeared and disappeared without us noticing.
