The main milestone has already passed earlier this year but here's another small update on the way to marriage equality in Thailand:
The Marriage Equality Bill has received royal endorsement and will soon be published in the Royal Gazette, according to a government source speaking to Thai Enquirer. This development signifies that Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to officially recognize same-sex marriage, representing a monumental milestone for equality and love—not only within the nation but also throughout the region! (Source: Thai Enquirer)

welp… guess I’m not coming out for the next four years either :)
#personal#us elections#may I just say as a queer woman and poc but most importantly someone who missed the age cutoff to be able to vote#I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever felt more helpless than in this moment#like I’m at the age right now where I’m planning for things like moving out of my family home#That means in the next four years it’s very feasible for me to get r*ped and need my reproductive rights#It’s very feasible for me to find another woman who I want to spend my life with for which I need my right to equal marriage#And it’s very feasible for me to want to walk down the street without getting fucking shot for which I need my right to fucking live??#And just sitting through the past 9 or so hours watching my country put a man in office#Who would look at me and probably not even consider me a full human?#Or think I deserve all those rights?#A man who I don’t think is going to protect those rights?#I’m the kind of person who will never stop having faith in this country no matter what state of shittholery it’s in#Because if you look at our history we’ve had way bigger assholes than this guy and come out surviving#But I’m scared yall#I’m genuinely really scared

Found a new, concise way of putting it that I'm gonna try and remember so I can reuse it:
To say, as a straight person, that a queer character's queerness is out of the blue or unrealistic is to claim that they understand the queer experience to be able to identify inaccurate representation of it.
To call a character's queerness out of the blue as a straight person is to claim full understanding of the queer experience.
#YOU ARE NOT A BAD ALLY FOR NOT KNOWING EVERYTHING. YOU'RE A GOOD ONE. IF YOU KNEW EVERYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE YOU GAY NOT AN ALLY.#QUEER PEOPLE ARE NOT JUST YOUR TICKETS TO ELEVATE YOURSELF AS AN ALLY ON THE OCCASIONS THAT YOU WANT TO#WE ARE NOT EVEN IN YOUR PEERS OFTEN. WE ARE YOUR EDUCATORS UNIVERSALLY NOT JUST ON DAYS YOU FEEL UP FOR ADMITTING YOU NEED EDUCATION.#THE DISPARITY IN OUR QUALIFICATIONS IS THAT OF A PROFESSOR AND A STUDENT#AS IS THE AUDACITY OF A STUDENT TO CLAIM EQUAL OR MORE QUALIFICATION#lgbtq#finding ways constantly to rephrase it so people understand why they are not qualified to even attempt to debate#stranger things#also btw this is mostly for straight people because it's an entire different category of this action but no queer person has had every quee#experience either so you can't tell other queer people they're wrong for saying queer characters are realistic either#they match your experience or they don't#straight people have ZERO experience though so it's entirely different because that requires some fucking AUDACITY to claim qualification#mike wheeler#kitty song covey#evan buckley#the entire point of needing more representation is so that you see versions of the queer experience you didn't know about as a straight per#on#we aren't just asking for the same singular queer experience but in a higher quantity across more genres#you have NOT learned everything because you are not able to and that does not make you a bad ally it just makes you a straight person#so when queer people tell you you're wrong DON'T. ARGUE.#'it's unrealistic for them to be queer' really? and list off the exclusive number of ways a person can be queer. right now. go.#people being comfortable with will byers because he represents a queer experience they've seen in the media before#but if they've never seen it on tv before it's 'unrealistic'#no hon. it's unrepresented. there is a very big difference and it's the entire point actually. your lack of education is not your fault but#your denial of it is#lgbtq representation

Tumblr fandom logic these days: if two characters with different sets of genitals hook up, then they’re straight and cis and the ship is hetero and it’s all Bad and Boring and Problematic
My old tired bi ass:
“All that matters is what’s in your pants” is not the great woke take y’all seem to think it is!!!
#lookin at you blue eye samurai fandom!!! good god yall. what on earth#this terfy biphobic shit is sending me#shop whatever you want I genuinely support your right to ship anything anywhere anytime idgaf#but ‘dick equals male and male equals straight and straight equals bad’ is a horrible mess of a way to think#that villainizes men and amab folks in the sack like they are cursed or something and it’s not cute#and I want a t shirt that says ‘is that ship you hate resllyvproblemstic or are you just being terfy and biphobic right now’#u g h I cannot imagine watching a show like blue eye samurai and coming away from all that glorious gender and sexuality buffet with… THAT#the kids are not alright#and queerness is not a food pyramid where there’s Good on the top and Bad on the bottom#there are no moral categories go outside touch grass and take a shot or something jfc

That post about everything being "Nah" I felt in my core. I'll always respect people who identify differently but when they ask me "what's your pronouns?" Or "where do you lie romanticaly?" I'm just "eh call me whatever you want I guess" or *I don't feel romantically for much anything" maybe cause online people always thought I'm one gender and irl people always thought I was the other so I just responded with "sure I guess"
and it's honestly such an easier way to live ngl... like when it comes to people who Know that i use they/them, it hurts to hear my given pronouns. but when it comes to strangers and just people who i haven't told, it's like... "yeah. ok. ill put on this hat" it feels a bit like a performance. it feels Mischievous, even! ohoho, they've been Tricked!
#which is Equally funny when i get 'misgendered' the other way. actually its More So#its so delightful. the sheer joy of having genderfucked myself to the point where people get it wrong in the Opposite way#ive had moments where i was confidently referred to with the 'wrong' set until i opened my mouth#and then theres The Face Of Terror and them scrambling to use the 'correct' set while visibly dying inside#ITS SO FUNNYYYYYY#this is my gender. fucking with people Is My Gender i have just realized#my goal every time i leave the house is to make people go '?????'#GODDDDD I LOVE NOT CARING ABOUT GENDER ALL THAT MUCH ITS SO FUCKING FUN#like yeah. sure youre wrong but lmfao whatever im vibing#rambles from the bog#im a bit less excited about being aroace purely bc i know the stigma around it#and ive heard So Many disheartening stories about aro/ace folks getting rejected/shunned in queer spaces#like there's a queer bar i wanna go to but now im. less enthused because someone Will hit on me im confident about that#and flirting is fun but like... man i dont wanna lead anyone on but-#sorry sorry i didnt mean to start Worrying Out Loud lmao#but no yeah i respect strong gender feels and labels but like. Eh! Im Just Me!#i use nonbinary bc technically Yea and also the flag fucks <3

"yeah your book has queer characters in it but is it interesting?"
i agree with the sentiment but these kinds of takes always make me think abt myself at age 14, desperately trawling the local small town library for any books with any mention of gay people (there werent many, at least that i could find at the time). i scoured internet forums for lists of queer books, but i didnt know the right key words and what i did find our library or local book stores usually didnt have and wouldve been really expensive to ship to finland. back then i wouldve read the phone book if youd told me there was a queer character in it.
i guess its just hard to get my head around how much more access there is nowadays. just looking for gay books is infinitely easier, theres a million lists online. if i walk into my local bookshop there will always be a gay romance book on the "trending on tiktok" shelf.
ofc these days the popular sentiment is "who cares if theres queer characters in a book, what matters is that its good". and thats a good thing!! its what we deserve!! but damn it sends my head spinning how much things have changed in just a decade
#ofc the fact that its easier to access english books now is a game changer as well#back then in my towns library they had one row of english books consisting of lotr a couple sherlock holmes books and eat prey love#ofc theres infinitely more finnish queer lit out there too. but the access to english lit feels like almost an equally massive change#and idk i this idea that all books are so accessible now does feel. very american#bc while its true for me too as a finnish adult with my own savings and a bank card to do with as a please#its not true for everyone everywhere. like if i was a kid with homophobic parents and no money in a country without well stocked libraries#id be just as screwed as i was as a teen 10+ years ago if not more so#idk im just rambling now#this is just a topic ive been thinking abt a lot since seeing all those glib posts abt how theres no excuse to pretend not to have access#to certain books#i lost the thread of this post a while ago#my post#queer tag

People who see entire demographics of humanity as “the enemy” are so baffling to me, whether they’re incels/misogynists or racists or radfems or whomever I just look at them and wonder why you’d choose a life of such misery. People of a certain gender, sexuality, race or whatever demographic are not inherently your enemy just because they are part of said demographic. Gender and race essentialism is incredibly dangerous and untrue and it especially confuses me when people who claim to be trans allies abide by the former because that mindset is especially dangerous to trans people.
People are individuals, not a hive mind. Society as a whole has massive issues, and some groups may benefit from them more than others (like how the patriarchy hurts men but they still benefit from it far more than women ever will because it has men in mind, albeit only a certain type of man), but individuals are individuals. And what a depressing life it must be to instead navigate the world believing that millions of people are beneath you before they’ve even spoken a word.
#Like I get women being wary of men. I get that and even I am tbh#I’m very visibly queer and rather short most men could kill me and I’d be powerless#But that’s not what I’m talking about I’m talking about the ‘fuck men they can die’ shit#Or people like my uncle who’s antisemitic because a Jewish person he knew happened to be quite nasty#I’ve been abused by cis women many times but they were dicks because they were dicks. Not because they were women#And don’t even get me started on incels. ‘Women suck because they won’t fuck me’ go to therapy#All misogynists need mandatory therapy before they’re allowed to talk to women again please#I would say I’m CAUTIOUS of women now but I still love them very much and I’m working through my wariness in therapy myself#Me being cautious is my own problem to deal with its not women’s fault as a whole#But yeah. I understand caution due to trauma. I do not understand hatred#And JKR for example very much needs to work through her hatred…#equality#feminism#intersectional feminism#actual feminism#misogyny#racism#transphobia#gender essentialism#race essentialism#antisemitism#anti terf#anti radfem#terfs fuck off#radfems fuck off

If you don't like the mustache that's fine, just say you don't like it. But saying you don't like it because you think it makes gerard, a genderqueer person who uses he/they pronouns, look less "femme" or genderqueer is really a bad look.
#happy pride to all of the queer gender essentialist mcr fans out there I hope you figure your shit out<3#facial hair doesn't equal man and I feel like y'all should know that by now#you must felix your heart

its so mindboggling that people can go “how can you say free palestine if you’re queer” as if the opinions a person has changes the validity of their life??? yall sound real similar to the people saying trans people are a danger to society
#like how can you seperate that#mass murder of a group based on something they habe zero control over is wrong full stop#stg though i see this So Much and it makes zero sense#yeah ok i dont like the values the far right holds but i dont think they should all die?#and like also completely disregards even the *possibility* that there are queer ppl in palestine?#So Interesting to me bc as soon as you can depersonalize ot suddenly you side with the oppressors#i just actually cant stop thinking abt this#like how can you say ‘trans rights’ and then turn around and ignore the bombing of hospitals#how can you say ‘equal rights’ for any marginalized community while not seeing this as a genocide#whats different?#genuinely what is different#yall literally sound like the transphobes trying to say most people regret transitioning when there’s overwhelming evidence this isnt true#like holy texts didnt matter when they were used against gay ppl but now you use it as justification for the mass slaughter of palestinians#obviously not to say the bible actually said any shit against gay people but like. yall fr#since when have we let people’s *interpretation* of holy texts validate murder#what is different#i know im prolly preaching to the choir and also im lowkey terrified of this reaching an audience that disagrees#bc i am not prepared to come up w evidence based arguments#i do not have time for that#rambles

Whats the thing that tipped it romantic for you in shadowpeach? Mine was macaque calling wukong a gem (pretty gem in spanish) and i know lots of people was the sun and the moon, but you said it was the s4 specials for you
s4 specials for sure! Their argument in 4x11 is what made it click in my brain.
I think a lot of what we see before then can be interpreted in a very platonic fashion, and for me personally I don't read the "You are such a gem" line as romantic. Macaque is a dramatic theater kid, and he's pretty antagonizing, so nothing ever made me think "oh. they're exes".
Even in 2x07 with the whole "sun and the moon" bit, Macaque and Wukong's past dynamic is compared to MK and Wukong's current one, as well as to MK and his friends ("The moment the hero got real power, he couldn't care less about his friends! That's you bud.").
Then 4x11 gives us added context on what their relationship had been before everything, and it's like: oh. There's more than friendship there. But there's also more than romance there.
Honestly, I don't even think they knew what they were, but either way their broken relationship hurt both of them. The bitter feelings they both have for one another show, and maybe now they can get to working past that and understanding themselves and their relationship better.
#I am a ''MK is aroace'' truther so. This is on brand#friendship and romance are equal to me#So of course I love the ''do it for your friends'' show#tis why I don't really ship anything besides freenoodles and now shadowpeach#Dragonfruit is cute though. and I could do a queer-platonic spicy noodles/traffic light trio#But like. Nobody blushes in this show like ever so THEY'RE ALL ASPEC. MUAHAHAHAHAHA. (except freenoodles maybe. and DBK x PIF)#1x05 really did a lot for us#asks#lmk#lego monkie kid#shadowpeach#lmk analysis

#if you're one of the people who won't stop talking about how people are jumping ship for buck and tommy#and how we're never gonna get buddie endgame#letting Buck explore this new and probably very scary part of his life is not a bad thing!#letting him explore and learn with tommy or literally any other guy is not a bad thing!#they didn't make buck bi just so theh could slap us with buddie in the next episode!#and all of this negativity is just exhausting#you don't have to like Tommy. and I know there are people who are not fans of his for so many different reasons and that's fine!#but getting worked up because people are happy about Buck get to have these firsts with someone who isn't Eddie just isn't it!#Buck's not bi just for Buddie. Buck's bi because he's bi! and you have to learn to deal with that!#and I trust Oliver and I trust Tim to give us this story with the respect and time it deserves to have to play out#because y'all would absolutely throw a fit if they rushed into Buddie right#now#we've waited this long and we have a wonderful depiction of a man in his 30s who is going to get the chance to settle into his sexuality#like he deserves too!#and then when it's time we're gonna get queer Eddie and it's going to be equally as important and Buck's story#y'all just have to chill because I don't know how some people enjoy this show the way they immediately jump to the negativity of it all#christina talks about 911#911 spoilers#also scary is not the word I wanted for that 3rd tag#more unknown rather than scary

yall this old lady craft group is the best thing ever and i want to cry thinking abt how grateful i am to have it fjfkdl i think this might be the one group that i feel wholly welcomed into and actually a real part of for the first time in my life ;-; ♡
the group leader always seems to want me to sit next to her and her daughter is always interested in seeing what im working on when she comes at the end and she also tells me abt different crochet patterns she's seen on fb marketplace or she brings in old patterns for me to look through and take what i want, and then the card maker lady is offering to give me this big old crocheted clown doll that her mum made her years ago and she immediately offered to give me a ride home without me even saying anything (so that i wouldnt have to try take it home on the bus fjdkdl), and they were all super excited for me when i told them I was able to fix my accordion, and they just... treat me like an equal and a human person and fjdksl man ... it's so nice
AND IM JUST 😭💗 about it all !!!! it all feels so foreign to me !!!! i do not know when I've ever felt so fully part of a group and an equal to everyone there !!!
#and theyre always so happy to see me when i arrive fjfkdl#I've had coworkers be happy to see me but thats always been bc i was like... useful and made them feel good LMAO#its so easy to have coworkers enjoy ur presence if u do ur job well and compliment them when they do things well#or even just like. hey i like ur shoes. just simple things go a long way#so ppl have been happy to see me in the past but its only been bc i was useful to them ;-;#BUT THIS !!! this is just me being part of a group !!! i am an equal !!! its such a wild feeling !!!#im like... a full person !! its crazy !!#now granted. idk if they'd treat me the same if they knew that im queer and like. very mentally ill but DHDJDLL#thats okay idk i can live with not sharing those aspect of me bc it doesnt feel important in that setting#AUGGHHH it is just such a good feeling idk fjfldl i wish i could express it better#when u have been lesser ur entire life it is so incredible and wonderful to be treated as an equal#i did not realize how EASY it could be to socialize and feel safe with ppl if they'd just ... treat u like a human and an equal#like idk if I've ever felt so safe in my life around other ppl before fjfkdl this is crazy#ANYWAYS IM GETTING TOO DEEP ABT IT MAYBE SORRY FJFKDL im just soooo in awe that i get to experience this#and i wanted to share this bit of joy djfkdld#dandy.cmd

Some excerpts from Adv. Vrinda Grover's statement at the Supreme Court of India, as a part of the 15 petitions that were heard for the marriage equality bill. She presented arguments for the concept of a chosen family which was a more progressive stance on how families/unions could be defined by the constitution and it goes beyond just same-sex marriage. It could cover polyamory and recognition of queerplatonic intimacies between 2 or more individuals, and much more:
“During COVID, a study that was done on trans persons found that when trans persons due to lockdown and the nature of the disease, had to return to their natal families and their homes. Over there they faced violence. They faced conversion therapy which is prohibited. And that was actually an illustration of what would happen if other social formations of care and support did not exist. This is what has been described as an atypical family. This form of chosen family is recognized in our law; for instance, adoption.
Adoption is a form of chosen family. Today we recognize families and we conceptualize family as by blood, marriage or adoption."
"There is increasing legislative and judicial recognition of a person who may not necessarily be conjoined through marriage or conjugal intimacies. In relation to the advanced directive, every person who is not a minor shall have a right to make an advanced directive in writing specifying any of the following individual or individuals in order of precedents he wants to appoint as his nominated representatives.
"..Ensure that laws and policies recognize the diversity of family forms, including those not defined by descent or marriage and take all necessary legislative, administrative and other measures to ensure that no family may be subjected to discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity of any of its members, including with regard to family related social welfare and other public benefits, etc. "
"I would say that what we are canvassing before this court is a different imagination. A new imagination of marriage and relationships and of family. An imagination which actually places at the foundation, love, care, and respect which may or may not come from the natal family because of my sexual orientation and gender identity.”
"There can be a feminist jurisprudence and feminist critique of family and that family can perpetuate caste purity and patriarchal control; so there may be persons who are of different sexual orientations and gender identities, which because of the hostility of natal families actually form intimacies that are non-marital, non-procreative, which are intimacies that are the only social conclave and support they can find."
Her statements were pleasantly surprising. Most of the earlier petitions chose to only focus on gay marriage and trans people having the right to marry, and I didn't expect any of the (star)lawyers/petitioners to go beyond that. But this. This is a sign of liberation. It reminds me a lot of the family code that granted marriage equality in Cuba. I love that we have some very progressive minds fighting this case.
#marriage equality#india#this better go well#lgbt#indian lgbt history#she was such a queen for this#a lot of the earlier petitioners werent intersectional enough#they were making points that painted same-sex marriage the cure all for most issues lgbt#someone said that “our families already accept us. now its just the courts that are left”#sir- no-#a lot of them came from upper caste hindu lgbt lawyers who have families that accept them so it's unsurprising#and so having vrinda and raju ramchandran speak after the govt tried to paint this as an issue of the elites was GOLDEN#SC better come up w the sexiest ruling in indian queer history or ELSE-#also w our temple art and kama sutra can yOu bEliEvE we have to fight for this#lgbtq
