Transforming Darkness into Lasting Growth
I know you may be wondering, how can anything or anyone develop in the dark? Dark is the absence of light. It can also be described as hidden knowledge from a natural and spiritual perspective. Have you ever been in what is called a dark room? I remember when photos were made in a dark room. This is a process that allows the development of photos to be protected from over exposure and is…

I don't want to read the grishaverse books cause LB messed up the names. it should be alina STARKOVA, NOT starkov. and mal is not the kind of nicknames people used at that time! mal is so american! and LB's setting is in 1800s russia, at least get the names right!
i know it is kind of pointless because this is a pseudo world but idk it kinda turned me off. the characters dont have patronymics, there is no distinction between diminutive names and first names and everyone seems to have just one name and if there are any intimate terms people call their close ones, its nothing that 1800s russians would use!
these are not russian names, these are names that people think are russian names.

to be frank, i am glad the jennie/tae situation is over and you can see the switch in taehyung’s outside perception again. That rumor costed Taehyung a positive solo debut and created a bad narrative around him. I’ve been observing people’s reactions (not just ARMYs but Koreans in general) towards the dating rumors since it started and it only affected him negatively.
J*nnie has always been a polarizing person in the industry more so now than ever. She’s always been involved in controversies either about her partying lifestyle, lazy performances or rude attitude. His involvement w her (real or not) did nothing but paint him in a negative light. they would associate him with her every time she had a controversy. During that p*rn series of hers they would involve T*ehyung about his “girlfriend trashy behavior”, then during her whole recent lazy scandal they would say Taehyung is with someone that doesn’t seem to put energy or passion to their job as opposed to him who’s always been known for his good performance skills. And during GD dr*gs scandal they were trying to involve him and BTS by linking him with Jennie who used to date GD and still hangs out with majority of his friends.
It was terrible for him. It switched the way a lot of people (mostly gp) perceives Taehyung as a person because it put into question his character and is not false that bp is a polarizing group in sk and the majority of armys don’t like bp not just for the fandom being awful to bts but because they in general hold a very terrible image and you can tell there’s not love or passion for the work that they do. just 4 airheads that keep taking ownership of the things bts worked for as a group.
i personally saw so many negative media articles about taehyung during that period in a way i’ve never seen before. He’s always been liked by the media. and now that the break up articles came up, i am starting to see Taehyung trending on naver for good positive things again such as how good he looks with his buzzcut or how great he was at the variety show. that relationship with jennie did nothing but bring him down and i am glad he can finally be free.
Hi anon!
Mmm, I think it's very much a point of perspective (and I don't really follow BP, so I'm not sure if I see this correctly). Army generally does not like BP (or maybe moreso Blinks) much. At least, the loudest voices don't really seem to get allong, because I'm sure there's also many Army who do like BP as well.
So from an Army perspective.. BP is the source of all evil in many cases. From a BP prspective, this would probably be the other way around. It's a competion based rivalry I think.. both fanbases wanting theirs to be the Kpop group that get's to be the biggest. Whether this rivalry also exists between Bp members and BTS members themselves is doubtfull I think.
Pairing Tae and Jennie for this was basically the ultimate attention grab... can we actually think of a pairing that would have more of an impact (Kpop wise)? Did they hope for Tae's image to rub of on Jennie? Did that blow up in their faces a bit? Do they see this as a succesfull stunt right now? I do feel it's possible the stunt was pulled before it actually was supposed to. After Paris things got chaotic real fast... and there was definitely more hate than positivity going around. Talking about the amount of attention they got, I'd say they deem it succesfull.. the quality of attention was not that great, but I think that was of lesser concern. Tae is wonderfull, so the possible damage that has been done to his image will be mended in no time.
I am very glad there was an actual visible ending right before his enlistment. This gives a certain level of peace for fandom and I think for Tae personally it must've been some sort of relieve. Jennie wont be blamed for cheating while he's away. And when Tae returns.. all of this will be long gone.

Hi. South African who took history in High School here.
As a white woman I cannot speak for the experiences of the countless Africans, Indians and other people of colour affected by Apartheid South Africa nor can I speak for Palestine. I just that an explanation from the prspective of someone who lives in a post-apartheid country can give a bit of insight on the apartheid going on in Palestine. I urge anyone more familiar to correct me on any incorrect knowledge I share.
Apartheid was the name of the legal racial segregation that took place from 1948 until 1994 when the first black president of South Africa was elected. Every major racial group was divided from each other, but the basic gist of it was that the white minority was given the best everything from a white minority rule, and the African majority was given the short end of the stick. They were allocated only about 13% of the land, they had the worst amenities compared to the other racial groups (who also had it bad apart from the white race), and basically were not even seen as human.
We are watching history repeat itself. Israel is treating Palestinians the same way people of colour were treated in Apartheid- giving a small strip if land that could potentially be taken away from the Palestinians, and are subjugated to war and abuse every day. They have nowhere else to go because they are legally not allowed to occupy any other land. They are treated like second class humans. All because of a powerful minority with strong, harmful ideologies.
When Africans started to rebel against the Apartheid government, the Western Powers showed support to the Apartheid government. And what happens now that there is opposition against Israel? The exact same thing. And I, for one, cannot understand the reason other than the stereotypes placed on Palestine.
It also disgusts me as a South African to see how much of South Africa supports Israel, including major powers such as one of the biggest political parties in the country. It is as if they had learned nothing from the past.
I hate that it has to resort to violence, but change cannot come with a strongly written letter filled with colourful vocabulary. Sometimes violence is the only solution left.

DR MICE MENTIONEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
i've been wanting to make a post about 'em for so long but i wasn't sure about posting their art here
i agree with all the stuff you said here, i especially like the way that the character is so much smaller than all the humans makes it so that framing her cuts off all their faces, it's so goddamn good
and like, they also have a series that starts two main characters that's just absolutely stunning to me, essentially it seems to be two inklings living in poverty trying to continue existing despite obvious mental health issues
there's such a quiet unspoken air of sadness in all of the pieces
the green tentacled inkling appears to be something of a caretaker to the yellow inkling (who's also the same inkling as in the above piecs so they might be connected somehow but i'm not sure yet) and you can tell the responsibility really weighs on her, even though it's never outright spoken
Tumblr media
this is the only piece of theirs i'm going to put here because i really don't want to spoil their work for you, because it's genuinely so good and you should go check it out from them directly
but like it's so goddamn good this is most likely from the green inkling's prspective, you can tell she feels the responsibility of taking care of this girl is on her, the urgency in the message "FEED HER!", every single option is very small, one egg, one piec of toast, a sandwich made of a single slice of bread folded over, she deserves more food but this is all they have, her plate is empty, it's your responsibility to feed her, you're failing, you're failing, you need to feed her, FEED HER!
and so much can be seen throughout the various pieces despite no words being spoken, there's the constant mess in every scene that takes place in a house, they're both certainly incredibly depressed and probably lack the ability to clean effectively, the vacant glassy stare at all times, these ar not activly sad people, the sadness just lurks behind every corner of their life, and then the fucking, the fucking!!!!!!!!! ok i know i said that was the only one i'd show but i just need to do another one, i have to, it's my favourite piec of theirs, i ned to show it
Tumblr media
look at this
look at this! look at them!
as far as i can tll this seems to be a fish shop
and like, the emotional stength it probably took to get to that fish shop
i undrstand it
i feel like i understand them
they've been rotting at home for so long letting vrything pile up, it probably took everything that green inkling had just to get herself out of the house so she could take the person she feels responsible for out to someplace she can enjoy herself for a while
the yellow inkling is looking at the fishes intently, she's njoying hrslf, you can tll she's not the one who needed to be dragged here, the green inkling dragged hrself all that way because she wanted to lift her frind's spirits, and ya know what, i think she did, and i know she won't be proud of hrself, she fels like she should've don more, but she's doing good, she's doing such a good job, and i'm proud of her
this is getting kinda personal i just wanna say dr mice's artwork actually got me out of a massive depressive episode, i saw it and as just fascinated by the quiet sadness which with it presented itself the sort of expressions of sadness i'd seen up until that point didn't really resonate with what i was feeling, but seeing those inklings with their big round tired eyes, feeling so baseline horrible that they don't even have the effort to furrow their brows, living in th refuse of their life without the energy to clean it, laying on floors covered in dirty clothes, i just felt known.
and i kept looking at it for so long that i like, started seeing a kind of hope in it? it's hard to explain their life looks so sad but in between everything there's the quiet moments of hope, of accomplishment, of everything good in the world, and even though that's not all of them, it's some of them. and i think the art is more effective when their happy moments make up so little of the art we see
sure you might spend most days laying on your back in the bathroom smoking and crying, but sometimes you muster the energy to go out to the fish shop, sometimes you make an egg you're very proud of, sometimes on your drive you stop and she gets out of the car and she feels the wind on her fac and th nature you're surrounded by on all sides and she smiles at you because the world is beautiful, sometimes late at night on the couch she talks and you listn and she keeps talking and you keep listening and at some point you realize that you're both here right now talking and listening because you love each other, and you'r so supremely lucky to love and be loved, despite it all.
One of my favorite artists point blank is this guy called Dr Mice who mainly makes a lot of splatoon art. A lot of their art is clearly cartoon but the setting feels very grounded, like it's a cartoon perfectly edited into a photograph almost. I like this a lot, it's appropriate for the actual setting and makes it feel more like a new kind of person growing into a post-apocalyptic world. My absolute favorites of their works are the ones that exaggerate this or even just put inkfish next to actual, proportional humans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second image in particular sticks with me, there is just something so. Viscerally sad and uncomfortable about it to me, like, this image of absolute isolation and indifference in what is otherwise clearly meant to be a joyful and accomplished moment. I love it. Incredible work. I hope I can make things like this someday

Perspective
Perspective. Encounter Life. Is it possible to change your mindset?
What is an outlook? A life view point? Or, not. Is it a specific vantage toward or way of seeing things? Is it a capacity to interpret comparative importance of something or its true relation? An attitude toward or a way of regarding something? I truly believe we desire an understanding of what occurs around us in past and present sense. Understand The Differences Looking up, down, behind and…

Do not let yourself be discouraged by the story of somebody else.
Because his or her perception is their only. They see the world through specific set of lenses, the illusion which presents itself to them is conditioned by their beliefs only.
Your story is unique. Your story is just as beautiful and important as theirs. Your story is yours only and you are in control of how you tell the story by ideas you choose to believe in.

As I watched the Louis-cooking video, I couldn't help thinking of the promo interview where Louis said something about how he was so used to having a stylist from 1D, he could no longer style his own hair--he just wore a cap. I.e., he paid someone to do his hair because he couldn't/didn't want to. To me, it seems not improbable that he might also outsource cooking. There's almost no way I can imagine Louis cleaning a large house -- so he definitely has staff, whether by contract or on salary, and quite plausibly a live-in or daily housekeeper/cook. (I also can't imagine Eleanor cleaning doing heavy cleaning). I don't think him not being able to cook (as a male multi-millionaire with delivery apps and an enjoyment of straightforward food) says much of anything about his domestic partner.
I am curious about your take on the invisibility/presence of domestic and personal staff for the various 1D guys from a labour/work or class perspective and from a brand prspective. (I'm US-based; really love reading your blog for the social/political/economic perspective that aren't necessarily typical for US discourse -- always makes me think -- and thank you for sharing your takes!)
That's an interesting set of questions anon. Particualrly the comparison with not doing his own hair (which I don't remember myself - I'd love to know where the interview is). You sent some COVID specific anons - so I'll get to those as a follow-up. I also don't have any 1D related thoughts about any of this - so it'l be some random musings.
There are some reasonably straight forward things going on here - questions of relatability when you're a multi-millionaire. I also agree that Louis pays people to do cooking and cleaning - although I think there are lots of variables about how very rich people get their needs met in normal times.
But I think lurking underneath it is a more complicated set of questions about the range of consequences of refusing to see reproductive labour (or beauty labour) as work. Someone could celebrate having their car detailed on social media - and that wouldn't be unrelateable (there's even a special language to it to make sure it's not associated with women's work).
I think it's important to emphasise that nobody does all their own reproductive labour. And that it's not new that we make choices between time and money when it comes to how those basic needs are met (for example, with takeaways, grocery delivery and meal kits).
And I struggled to answer this question, until I realised that I think the problem is that I don't think you learn a lot by talking about it through the lens of people as rich as 1D (which is strange, because talking about the world thorugh 1D is this blog's whole purpose. And I think the fact that it is so different is a sign of the weird status of reproductive labour in our society). Partly because focusing on how the very rich navigate this, suggests an individual rather than structural approach.I
I think the interrelationship between the invisibility of unpaid reproductive labour in the home, and the mixed visibility and meaning given to marketised reproductive labour are deeply tied up in everyone's lives and the ultra rich are if anythign the most boring examples. Basically both unpaid labour outside the market, and marketised reproductive labour are deeply exploitative. And the reason that they're hidden in the way they are, is because if the reality of that labour was truly visible and intergrated into our understanding of the world, then the lies that capitalism relies on would be unsustainable.

Filippo Brunelleschi   (1387 - 1446)
Brunelleschi's mirror (w Florence Baptistery) ca. 1425
After the rise of Islam in the seventh century, the optical science of prspective, now forgotten in the West, was re-discovered and expanded upon by the Arabs. Only after the slow re-conquest of Moorish Spain and Sicily, beginning in the eleventh century, did Western Christians learn of it once more (Lindberg, 1976). -Brunelleschi's mirror, Alberti's window, and Galileo's 'perspective tube'
Some time after 1410 architect Filippo Brunelleschi worked out a ‘new’ way to depict three-dimensional objects or scenes on a two-dimensional (flat) surface. Brunelleschi called his method perspective; known to ancient Greeks as οπτική. Brunelleschi had noticed that the parallel stripes of the green marble on the angled sides of the octagonal Baptistery in Florence  seemed to get closer together the farther away they were from the viewer.
Nearly every Renaissance artist wanted linear perspective. Florentine painters and sculptors became obsessed with it.
An introduction to Filippo Brunelleschi's experiment. Created by Beth Harris and Steven Zucker. -Khan Academy humanities/renaissance-reformation/early-renaissance

Do you have any particular reason to read BNHA? For me it's the social commentary of their society that parallels to ours. It reminds me of Persona 5.
I love the social commentary of BNHA, i especially love how subtle and complex it is. It very rarely tells us “hey hero society is actually pretty fucked up you know” but if you just look at the situation and how its laid out Hori is showing not telling us that we are in an unstable dystopian society. I love the characters, how dynamic and complex they are. Nighteye and Endeavor are great characters. I *hate* both of them and the things they’ve done are disgusting but the way they view themselves, interact with the world and respond are so interesting and complicated,  just like real people. There are very few 2D characters which is why a lot of background characters are just as interesting as the mains.
Izuku is such a good boy, I love having a protag who’s sweet and loving and nerdy while also being a total badass. Watching him grow has been a joy and a pleasure. Hori is also really great at subverting typical story/anime tropes making them fresh or putting a new prspective on things. Bakugou, IMO, is a comment on the typical arrogant, violent, loud mouthed shounen protag as an example of why those archetypes are really annoying and not endearing irl.
