May be a stretch but it would be interesting if one of the Bats got arrested and then released without real charges because Harvey pulled every string he had at the DA's office so nobody prosecuted.

Something I said that was extremely poignant and quick way to shut someone who was trying to moralize voting third party was reminding them well two things from two separate comment sections
A point I've heard many a Time from many different people so I will not try and pretend like the opinion is mine, the people who think that voting third party and being revolutionaries will actually work are able-bodied people who have never felt the sting of systemic prejudice or just a single of the MANY deeply intersectional prejudices and So can only conceptualize themselves as the katniss, the main character from maze runner cuz I don't remember his name, that type of shit. They want to be the one that walks up on the bodies and is the one that finally is the one that does the thing. The problem is is they never once conceptualize who those bodies are. And we people who would be in that pile that they would be climbing on to finally "win the day", would really rather make the option that would allow us to work together instead of violent destructive coup that will leave no one left that was actually in the groupings that most of the previous choices were made to try and mitigate the dangers towards.
Cuz now we shift over to the other point, people are acting like the disabled, or queer, or POC or all of the above folk who are desperately not wanting people to choose the option that will actually just directly lead to their death and or removal of Rights are fear-mongering or being manipulative for daring to be mean or sound too upset about it. It's literally just fucking tone policing and it's wild that people are just pretending like it's not. When disabled queer folk tell you that this person that is actively trying to get us killed wants us killed and it said such themselves you should probably not choose the option that's going to make them have the absolute power to do whatever the fuck they want including and directly bleeding to the exact thing they have only said they will do with that power alongside also obfuscating any sort of information to its people and making things worse worse just everywhere that we have our fucking decrepit creepy ass American fingers in.
But that's also my third thing I completely forgot about this one Joe was voted in so that the able-bodied people capable of making changes and doing things could go and try and do things and then none of those things happened and less happened actually and things were taken away, And yet somehow people are trying to say that the people who are only voting this option because the last time the last option that was voted to do anything to help us just no one did anything the entire time and now we're the bad guys for the situation that happened cuz we wanted to vote in the guy that was supposed to just be there cuz he was inept enough to where the people could try and work with the communities that needed help and then none of that fucking happened and things just got worse and yet somehow the people that are actively suffering the most and we're only trying to get help because of the choices made by others are now the ones at fault for daring to want to make the choice that won't lead to their direct deaths. Like Jesus fucking Christ get over yourself vote blue.

although it is often inaccurately used as a kind of shorthand description, the term "proxy war" does not actually apply to the war in ukraine. but i do think you have to have your head entirely inside your ass to reject the idea that the conflict at its heart is about spheres of influence.
#which has a corollary of a lot of the stuff (partially) that people do bring up as reasons for the invasion#like the only alternate explanations are: russia wanted the territory surrounding the sea of azov/leading to crimea real bad#(any benefit of that obviously far far far outweighed by the financial and political costs of instigating a war over it)#OR. theyre just evil. they did this for no discernible benefit they just wanted to kill people. (which is a 3rd grader ass take)#if u do think the latter well....... theres a lot to say about it but i think its simplistic#not to get realpolitik about it but nations do not prosecute a genocidal campaign unless they stand to gain something from it#and further still... genocidal campaigns fall under the umbrella of fighting over spheres of influence. forced integration is part of that

I've tried. I've tried for years. Prison absolution is not only not something I agree with, but its a harmful aim. Its fucking paradox of tolerance shit, ok? For people to be free, some people must not be free. I am on board with reform, I am OK with imprisonment being so fucking rare that prisons must be closed and house arrest is the only way to do it. But I simply cannot bring myself to agree that no one should be imprisoned. I firmly believe that is an immoral and dangerous view that only condemns victims to glorified imprisonment in their everyday lives. Not everyone can be fixed. Some people are just evil and will hurt people unless you stop them doing it. I've tried! I've tried to be a good prison abolitionist leftist! I've weighed the arguments! But the "solutions" are not applicable to the real world I live in.
#word of god#at the end of the day the only way i (a victim) can ever have freedom and autonomy is if he stops being a danger#so he can either chose to stop being an evil person (he will not)#or he could be imprisoned#or he could die#or i and my family can spend the rest of our lives in constant danger#and not just us but every person he has hurt and every person he will hurt#every child he will hurt#every second he is free is another chance for him to hurt someone AND HE WILL#idk i think taking away the option of prison for people like him#will only lead to more vigilante justice#despite the fact he wont be prosecuted the threat of it keeps him cautious and gives me comfort#what of we did not have that? one of us would probably be dead by now

Why do they read rapist and immediately think ‘this will hurt lgbt people’
on one end i can agree that the state cannot be trusted to treat such a precedent like "allow human experimentations on a certain group of people" well and honestly and transparently. and that creating such a precedent will ultimately result in minority groups being disproportionately impacted bc there is already a bias in who gets incarcerated and punished. on another end, rapists are notoriously hardly ever prosecuted so like while its a nice idea in theory to have them suffer for putting others thru often lifelong suffering, theres a good chance actual rapists still wont face consequences bc they already overwhelmingly barely even see a day in jail. and then lastly its true that sometimes homophobes will use language like "groomers" and "predators" to refer to innocent things like idk giving children basic sex ed and that sex ed including conversation about sexual orientation & safe sex in same sex relationships (bc shocker, ppl of diff sexual orientations will exist whether kids know the terms for it or not & safe sex is important for the well-being of ppl of all sexualities not just OSA people). so i kinda get their arguments ngl, i think the justice system and the prison industrial complex would have to change significantly before we can even entertain an idea as potentially dangerous as "we should allow human experimentation on this group of incarcerated peoples"

I was playing Telltale and it hit me that Harvey Dent has an atrocious dating life across Batman media. It includes Gilda, Selina Kyle, Pamela Isley, Janice Porter, something messy with Renee Montoya, I throw Bruce Wayne in there because it just makes sense with this man's disastrous choices in partners.

Please read the last two paragraphs of Justice Sonia Sotomayor's dissent to the recent 6-3 decision granting presidents absolute immunity:
Looking beyond the fate of this particular prosecution, the long-term consequences of today’s decision are stark. The Court effectively creates a law-free zone around the President, upsetting the status quo that has existed since the Founding. This new official-acts immunity now “lies about like a loaded weapon” for any President that wishes to place his own interests, his own political survival, or his own financial gain, above the interests of the Nation. The President of the United States is the most powerful person in the country, and possibly the world. When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he now will be insulated from criminal prosecution. Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon Immune. Immune, immune, immune. Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends. Because if he knew that he may one day face liability for breaking the law, he might not be as bold and fearless as we would like him to be. That is the majority’s message today. In the Federalist Papers, after “endeavor[ing] to show” that the Executive designed by the Constitution “combines . . . all the requisites to energy," Alexander Hamilton asked a separate, equally important question: “Does it also combine the requisites to safety, in a republican sense, a due dependence on the people, a due responsibility?”. The answer then was yes, based in part upon the President’s vulnerability to “prosecution in the common course of law.” The answer after today is no. Never in the history of our Republic has a President had reason to believe that he would be immune from criminal prosecution if he used the trappings of his office to violate the criminal law. Moving forward, however, all former Presidents will be cloaked in such immunity. If the occupant of that office misuses official power for personal gain, the criminal law that the rest of us must abide will not provide a backstop. With fear for our democracy, I dissent.

actual feminists: women deserve the right to feel safe, choose to not have children or get married, vote, abortions, pursue their dreams, and feel comfortable in their own skin. rape is a huge problem in our society, and rapists must be prosecuted/condemned for their crimes. Women face an unfair amount of domestic violence compared to men.
