'IT'S JUST MYSELF TALKING TO MYSELF ABOUT MYSELF,' jack sparrow + verona, SCREAMIGNGGGG IDK WHY i thot of this dynamic but bye
"Oh, of course," Verona says with a fanged smile as if it's the most common of things to say. She seems to understand. "So long as you've solved your dilemma." She shrugs, as if she, too, has taken advice from herself. There are worse people to give advice, after all.
Verona laughs suddenly, seeming to dance softly over to Jack, feet hovering inches above the ground. When she stops in front of him, she rather dramatically drapes herself across his lap, the glass of liquor in her hand managing to remain unspilt; shown out to him in offering. The clawed fingertips if her free hand smooth through the hair at the back of his head, lips pursed as if she is lost in thought, some faraway yearning. "Is it fun, sailing?" she suddenly asks, "It's so rare for us to go. Something about traveling with a coffin of dirt. — Tell me, Jack, do you have space for a coffin on your ship?"

Summary:
“I think…” Buck breathed, his eyes shining like beacons in the dim kitchen lighting. He released a slow breath and his voice became a tender whisper. “I think I’m in love with you.” Words slipped past Eddie's tongue without thought. “When you’re sure,” he breathed, “will you let me know?”
Wherein Buck determines to help Eddie learn to say no to sex, even with him.

that naked walk-in chat
Buddie | T | 2925 by @disasterbuck and @veronae-buddie Another text fic I re-read recently and though deserved to be shared. This one is hybrid - containing texts and prose!
After crashing on Eddie’s couch, Buck gets up the next day and heads straight to the bathroom. Only problem is, Eddie’s already in there… naked. Buck stares. Eddie panics.
E: WHAT THE FUCK BUCK DON'T YOU KNOCK B: oh we're texting now?
-
E: are you saying you'd be fine with it if I saw you naked??? B: yes B: would that help?
-
He opened his mouth to speak, then paused, unsure whether he'd heard something or simply imagined the creaking of a floorboard. A second later he was positive – he could hear footsteps heading towards Eddie's room.
"Christopher," Eddie whispered, eyes wide.
Without a single thought, Buck rolled off the bed and wildly gathered his clothing into his arms. In the next instant, he'd propelled himself under the bed and huddled against the far wall so that he was out of sight.

10 Things I Hate About You VS. Wednesday
This is getting weird.
After my Mean Girls post, I began thinking about how 10 Things I Hate About You would fit the world of Wednesday & I couldn't believe how right I was! 10 Things I Hate About You is the teen version of Shakespeare's play, "The Taming of the Shrew," where Bianca is unable to date until her sister, Kat, finds a suitor as well. All seems lost until Patrick Verona arrives with interest.
Tumblr media
-Cameron is a new student at the high school similar to Wednesday as she arrives mid-term.
-Both schools have similar architecture.
-Both schools have archery.
Ms. Perky (Guidance Counselor) = Principal Weems
"Nine schools in 10 years. My, my." -Ms. Perky
"Eight schools in 5 years." -Principal Weems
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Patrick Verona AKA Xavier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Patrick Verona was literally the inspiration for Xavier & his whole tortured artist thing since he and Kat have a scene together throwing paint at one another.
-Saves Kat from falling off a table & potential concussion like Wednesday when the statue almost falls on her and Xavier saves her.
-Buys Kat a guitar with money left over from the bet (at the end of film) like Xavier buys Wednesday a cell phone (end of season).
Bianca Stratford AKA Enid/Bianca
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"There's more to her than you think. Look at the way she smiles, and look at her eyes, man. She's totally pure. You're missing what's there." -Cameron
-Bianca Stratford, Kat's sister, and splitting image of Enid Sinclair: wears shades of pink/red girly clothing & is bubbly and upbeat which is the complete opposite of Kat.
- Both of Enid's names literally mean purity.
-We literally have a character in Wednesday named Bianca who does share a scene with Wednesday about how she doesn't care what anyone thinks during a small scene with Kat/Bianca & this very subject.
-Bianca has a friend named Chastity who the writers may have switched some traits between Bianca & her and gave her Bianca's name & Patrick/Xavier as a love interest.
- Bianca is looking for a French tutor & though Cameron doesn't know the language, he promises to learn to tutor her. Reminds me of Morticia/the Addams family knowing the French language.
- Mention of a breakup between a random couple again on the quad. Totally not random that Nevermore Academy also has a quad where the final battle goes down.
-Bianca mentions Kat should try a change in her appearance that reminded me of Enid commenting on Wednesday's dress that she arrived at the school with & how it was a hazard.
-Investigates Kat's room for dating information. Could potentially be something later on.
-Convinces Kat to go to a party and be normal just like Enid does several times in Wednesday like with the Poe Cup, etc.
-Bianca & Patrick do share one moment/scene together where he asks Kat "who knocked her up".
-Ashamed to be Kat's sister which definitely lines up more with Bianca in the beginning of the season rather than Enid who was open to being Wednesday's friend.
-Punches Joey in the face and defending Cameron/Kat similar to Enid wolfing out & stopping Tyler from attacking Wednesday in his Hyde form.
Katarina "Kat" Stratford AKA Wednesday
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Kat literally represents everything about Wednesday: her cleverness, wit, rebellious attitude.
- "The way you expressed your opinion to Bobby Ridgeway? By the way, his testicle retrieval operation went quite well." -Ms. Perky to Kat
This is literally a parallel to Wednesday setting the piranhas on the boys terrorizing her brother and how its later said the boy lost one testicle. However, Kat's situation with Bobby was caused by kicking himself in the balls. I see you writers 👀. In addition, Kat aids Ms. Perky in a synonym for a word she is looking for as she's writing an erotic novel. Another parallel to Wednesday though she's all about crime.
-The way Julia Stiles (who plays Kat) moves her facial muscles & her eyeballs to represent emotion just radiates emotion. Just look at the scene in the music store!
- Likes feminist prose while Wednesday has Mary Shelley as an idol she's trying to best.
-Gets called a psycho by her sister for maiming a vehicle.
-Big dance scene at a party where Kat knows how to move her body!
-Mother issues similar to Wednesday with Morticia.
-Kats plays guitar, Wednesday the cello.
-People are scared of Kat/Wednesday.
-Kat says her father wants her to be someone she's not (like Bianca) which reminded me of Wednesday's conversation with her mother about how she'd never be a housewife, a mother, etc.
-"The impressive patriarchal values that dictate our education." -Kat Stratford
“So you were guided by latent chivalry, the tool of the patriarchy, to extract my undying gratitude?” -Wednesday
Just wanted to get my thoughts down. There's even more references & ideas to other films where I bet the writers drew inspiration from that I may post about soon. I hope people are enjoying these little tidbits. Till next post! 👋. PS: This post is for you @karmaajr

Romeo & Juliet
"Romeo and Juliet," penned by William Shakespeare in the late 16th century, stands as one of the most enduring love stories in literary history. Set in the bustling city of Verona, the play unfolds against a backdrop of familial strife between the Montagues and Capulets, two noble households locked in an ancient feud.
At the heart of the tale are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, two star-crossed lovers whose fateful encounter sparks a whirlwind romance that transcends the boundaries of their feuding families. Romeo, a romantic at heart, is initially infatuated with another maiden, Rosaline, until he attends a masquerade ball at the Capulet household, where he lays eyes upon Juliet for the first time. From that moment on, their destinies become intertwined in a love that defies societal norms and familial expectations.
Despite the obstacles arrayed against them, Romeo and Juliet engage in a secret courtship, exchanging vows of eternal love in the iconic balcony scene. Their love is passionate and impulsive, driven by a desire to escape the constraints of their warring families. However, their clandestine romance is fraught with danger, as the escalating feud between the Montagues and Capulets threatens to tear them apart.
In a desperate bid to be together, Romeo and Juliet seek the guidance of Friar Laurence, who agrees to marry them in secret, hoping to reconcile their families in the process. But fate intervenes with tragic consequences: a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications culminate in a chain of events that lead to the untimely deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
The play reaches its heartbreaking climax in the Capulet tomb, where Romeo, believing Juliet to be dead, takes his own life beside her. Upon awakening to find her beloved lifeless, Juliet follows suit, sealing their love in death.
"Romeo and Juliet" explores timeless themes of love, fate, and the consequences of societal division. Through Shakespeare's masterful prose, the play continues to captivate audiences with its poignant portrayal of young love thwarted by the prejudices of the world around them. In its tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet" reminds us of the enduring power of love to conquer all, even in the face of insurmountable odds.

FULL NAME: Lilura Laqueus OCCUPATION: Physiotherapist AGE: 39 PRONOUNS: She/her SPECIES: Hunter CLASSIFICATION: Femme Fatale GUILD: The Brotherhood ALIAS: The Queen of Hearts HOMETOWN: Austin, Texas RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Enigmatic SEXUALITY: Pansexual
(tw: mentions of death, blood, weapons, torture, violence, medical malpractice)
P E R S O N A L I T Y
ATTENTIVE. Odds are she's been observing her prey long before she's made herself known to them. She takes pride in finding the physical signs of vulnerability; idiosyncrasies to latch on to and abnormalities in routines to exploit. BRUTAL. Lilura is not a redeemable woman. Tears and scars are her currency of choice, whether you're on her hit list or not. If you’re lucky enough to bleed for her and walk away with a souvenir, you’ve made an impression on her. CAPRICIOUS. Also referred to as volatile, unpredictable, and indiscernible. Best described, Lilura is a loaded gun primed with a single bullet in a revolving cylinder, ready to be fired at will. If you give an inch, Lilura will take a mile. CUNNING. She enjoys telling people what they want to hear to suit her agenda. Her mind and tongue are just as sharp as the switchblade she keeps on her person. ENCHANTING. It's all in the eyes — careful not to stare too long. They're windows to the soul, and hers was damned long before she was brought into this world. UNFORGIVING. A bridge burned is one lost forever. Your apologies mean nothing. Repent as she sees fit or die.
B I O G R A P H Y
There is no childhood to be remembered — no family to think of fondly or friends to miss. No weaknesses or liabilities unless they're made of her own volition. Earliest memories are of her eighteenth birthday. Trusted with the touch of the talisman, Lilura accepted her role to seduce and destroy and agreed to study the movement of the human body; to daylight with a widely-regarded, and future-proof profession. It armed her with the knowledge of common injuries in joints, muscles, and bones, and the length of time it might take to heal them with proper remediation. More suitably to her agenda, she learned how to inflict injury to weaken a target unsuspectingly. Her name was gifted to her by the Brotherhood's Austin quarter, and her identity reshaped and trained to be made in their image. Lilura, meaning enchanter, charmer, or fascination. Laqueus, meaning ensnare, trap, or noose. Her identity serves as her ground zero and a warning to those curious enough to look into it. She has a handful of tattoos that decorate her skin, distracting from her hunter's mark that hides in plain sight. It's absorbed by the hilts of cross-bladed twin sai that sit in the lower quarter of her breastbone, between the curves of cleavage. Rarely did Lilura choose her own target, and never had she refused an assignment. She didn't ask questions, offering unwavering loyalty to the guild she sought to serve, and eliminated threats others couldn't. Usually high-profile and mystifying supernaturals, often prone to monologuing their demise. Nothing a swift stab to the gut and the twist of a blade couldn't silence. Only on the rare occasion when her bloodlust was insufferable and her mind untethered by obligation did she find a quick kill — for the instant gratification hand-delivered by the sounds of agony inflicted on a willing admirer. She's lived in Marseille, having left the city with blood staining baroque wallpaper and luxury linens from a hunting knife driven fatally into a carotid artery. It painted ornate walls a pretty Rorschach of crimson as it burst. She signed her magnum opus with her renowned calling card left stuck to the drying blood. She's lived in Verona, breathing new life into the tale of two fictional lovers by murdering her own. She drove a blade deep into the base of the spine to paralyse, just so she could recite tragic prose while she carved open their chest cavity and severed coronary arteries. She pulled free the heart they'd claimed was hers for the taking, ensuring their words had proper weight to them. Her calling card lay in its place, drowned in blood. She's lived in Bavaria where a backdrop of forested mountains in a lakeside paradise, neighbouring rococo palaces long-abandoned by monarchs and regency, provided the isolation needed for anonymity. A poetic landscape juxtaposed by the brutality of a throat slit and body left on the bank of a lake to contaminate freshwater. And yet another calling card, wedged into the clean cut of skin. She's been in Port Leiry, and without an official guild-assigned target, for 2 years. She's waiting patiently for contact about her next target and indulging in a little depravity to pass the time.
W A N T E D
I can feel my instincts here for you - She's on a sabbatical she didn't ask for. She's antsy. She's hungry. She misses the hunt, and you're in her sights. Flew over the cuckoo's nest - Spending too much time with Lilura will do that to you and she knows it. Bad news is, she's said she has all the time in the world for you and you can't decide whether that's a wholesome sentiment or a looming threat. It's strange what desire will make foolish people do - A conversation that reveals too much, or a flirtatious encounter seemingly requited; seduction is a sport and a skill. Let her flex her muscles. Help me lose my mind - A mentor, a guide, a sadist. Let her lower her guard and promise to keep her secrets, whether you're affiliated with the Brotherhood or not. You'll get a loyal mercenary in return. I can tell now you're thinking of leaving - She has no weaknesses. Except you.

🦇 Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons Book Review 🦇
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
❝ "Our meeting was like lightning, so bright and sudden that the whole world was lit. But then lighting also in an instant vanishes." ❞
❓ #QOTD What story would you want to read from a female's perspective? ❓
[ Find my full review below or on Goodreads | Insta | StoryGraph ]
🦇 How much of Romeo and Juliet's story was told through the eyes of men? In Rosaline's version, he's just as quick to fall in love with her. After losing her mother, Rosaline is promised not to a husband, but to a convent. She only has days to make the most of her free life. Romeo's candied words and poetic promises of a better future draw her in like a bee to pollen, but once he's ruined her and delayed their wedding, she realizes his behavior is predatory, poison. When Rosaline casts him aside, Romeo sets his pursuits on young Juliet. Can Rosaline save her fair cousin in time, or are they both ruined?
💜 Natasha Solomons' feminist untelling is a stunning, empowering, chilling accomplishment. She manages to weave a story both familiar and unwritten. In the original Romeo and Juliet, we're only told of Rosaline through the gaze of men. She's made to be a joke. Solomons' Rosaline (a lively, spirited fusion of Shakespeare's other Rosalines) refuses to be an offhand mention in someone else's story. Her version is so real and raw that, if the story were true, we'd all be inclined believe it (especially in this post-Me Too movement world).
💜 There's a dark subtext in Rosaline's version, though. If you're familiar with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Juliet's age (not yet 14) is mentioned multiple times, whereas Romeo's is not mentioned once. We imagine them as young, star-crossed lovers, but what if Romeo was 20, 30? In this version, Romeo has a history of preying on young women, ruining them, and casting them aside, only for other men to take advantage of what remains. Despite the modern subtext, Solomons does a fantastic job of maintaining Shakespeare's lyrical prose in a way that's still easy to read. The smallest details breathe the city of Verona to life, making it vivid and engaging. The metaphor of Rosaline becoming physically dirty on the outside after Romeo sullied her from within was gut-wrenching.
🦇 As well-written as this untelling is, there's a constant melancholy to the entire story as Rosaline grieves for her mother. That melancholy makes it easy for us to understand why Rosaline is so enthralled by Romeo; he becomes her escape. However, it also becomes a weight. It's also difficult to fall for Romeo the way Rosaline does. There are INSTANT red flags the moment they cross paths, and they become more obvious with every interaction. It almost takes too long for Rosaline to realize his honied words are poison. The reveal that the Friar is using Romeo to his advantage--and to the advantage of most men in Verona--felt a bit too much as well. However, Solomons excels at remaining true to the original story while posing it from a fresh lens.
🦇 Recommended to anyone who loves a good retelling. This story is empowering, thought-provoking, and a reminder that most of history was told through the lenses of men.
✨ The Vibes ✨ 🌹 Speakspeare Retelling 🌹 Lyrical Prose 🌹 Feminist Revision 🌹 Not a Love Story 🌹 Vivid and Descriptive
🦇 Major thanks to the author @natashasolomonsauthor and publisher @sourcebooks / @bookmarked for providing an ARC of this book via Netgalley. 🥰 This does not affect my opinion regarding the book. #FairRosaline #Sourcebooks #SourcebooksLandmark

@freezegirl — idk why but have a short thing of kie & warren + some shakespeare
warren had been working his way through all of william shakespeare's works, continuing to comb through all the classics literature had to offer. with shakespeare there was more he seemed to dislike than like for the most part, but by this point he'd at least developed a like for his prose & sentence structure. currently he was on ' the two gentlemen of verona ' — a play he knew he'd hate but was determined to suffer through it, if only to say he has. it was among shakespeare's oldest works so warren's normal enjoyment of criticisms felt somewhat suppressed by the knowledge that shakespeare will come to later produce works of actual quality. but even so, there wasn't really much he was held back on. if he had a thought worth sharing why would he not?
& so here warren stands, emphatically reading shakespeare both to the room & to kie alike ( read as it should be read, mind you ), then interrupts himself every few lines with some commentary on how terrible it all is. he'd gone into the play hoping that at least what he'd read about a vaguely funny monologue about a dog, of all things, was true & good. but when it came to the monologue himself, it was so void of humour in his mind that it honestly just felt annoying the whole way through.
he reads said launce monologue to her, saying it not by memory so his eyes were turned solely pageward, but at least he could read it with a genuine understanding of characters & appropriate tone ( not that it was particularly difficult to understand such simple character like launce ). gods knows how terribly shakespeare is so often always performed. ❝ its so dumb to have an entire monologue about how much you don't like your dog, ❞ he complains, ❝ not to mention the random antisemitic line in the middle for absolutely no reason. i thought this was supposed to be a good scene but —UGH. ❞ he groans, words escaping him as he sits himself on the couch next to her, soon followed by his head landing in her lap. ❝ it actually hurts to read this... anyone who likes two gents is insane & should get themselves checked out by a professional. ❞ he scoffs. thought its no use telling him to drop it, even if he should with this happening after less than half the play. it's no wonder why its so seldom performed. as far as warren was concerned, the fewer people exposed to such a travesty the better.
❝ —also, who names their dog ' crab ' anyway? ❞

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @jesuiscenseedormir 😘
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
256 😬 but most of those are collabs with my beloved Veronae 💜 works written on my own I think total 23?
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
oh damn how do I find that ah. okay. um. 560,589
3. What fandoms do you write for?
nowadays it's pretty much just 9-1-1
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
you are really teaching me how to use the stats page on ao3 lol
The Parent to Contact - Buck gets a call from Christopher's school and learns that he's listed on the boy's forms as 'the parent to contact on Tuesdays'.
that drunk buck chat - Buck gets drunk and texts Eddie something he wasn't meant to read. Text fic!
that first kiss chat - Eddie texts Buck with some news, and it goes on from there. All texting!
Buddie, You're Hot - Buck is helping Eddie get ready for a date when he ends up outing himself as bi – something he thought Eddie already knew. Wasn't it obvious?
that drunk eddie chat - Wherein Eddie is a drunk mess and Buck needs to protec
5. Do you respond to comments?
on my own/solo fics, yes absolutely every time. but comments on the buddie text fics I usually leave for Veronae to reply to, unless it's specifically addressed to me or I just feel like replying
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
knee deep in sinking sand Buck has a nightmare about losing Eddie.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
most of what I write has a happy ending 😅 um I'm gonna go with You Should've Just Kissed Me Set after the Poker Date Night, Buck overhears Eddie talking about being set up on a date and wonders aloud why Eddie doesn't just explain that he's already in a relationship - with Buck.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
thankfully not much, but there was one person who left hate on the buddie text fics :(( I do my best to ignore it though 😌
9. Do you write smut?
nah I'm not really comfortable with it. sometimes a fic will get a bit steamy but I usually try to fade to black when I can.
10. Craziest crossover?
does lone star count? cause we've done text fics with TK and Carlos:
that matchmaker crossover chat Buck talks to TK. Carlos talks to Eddie. They're in love, but they won't tell each other. TK enlists Carlos' help to try and change that. Text fic!! that anniversary day chat When Eddie cancels plans with Buck to go on a date, they end up in a fight without fully understanding how it happened. Eddie reaches out to Christopher, while Buck reaches out to his good ol' buddy TK for support ... but they can only go so long before facing each other. that bothered and bewildered chat After being kissed by Tommy, Buck reaches out to an old acquaintance for help sorting out his feelings.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have! a while back, in a different fandom and under a different name.
13. Have you co-written a fic before?
as you've probably figured out, yes I have. I collab with my bestie Veronae for all out buddie text fics, and we've also written an actual prose fic together as well:
A Jealous Kiss “You’re going out with your mechanic?” Buck asked. Then his face fell into deliberate blankness. “You mean, you’re dating your mechanic?”Eddie was going on a date with someone else. And Buck would be left behind.Again.
14. All time favorite ship?
BUDDIE
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will
ohhhh good question. hm probably my buddie wip where Chimney dares Buck not to use Eddie's name for a week and so Buck starts using pet names for him. it's cute and I like the idea but I don't think I'm ever gonna have enough motivation to write the whole thing.
16. What are your writing strengths?
hm. I think I'm pretty good at writing fluff? and having a good balance of prose and dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
too many ideas, not enough motivation. I've got easily like 50 wips or something uggghhhhhh
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language
ummm sure? why not? I once wrote a fic for a previous fandom where one character spoke french the whole way through, and I got a french friend to check it over for me so it could be accurate, plus I then added translations at the end for people.
19. First fandom you wrote for
stargate
20. Favorite fic you've written
Friends Don't ✨💕
Eddie and Buck have always been closer than most best friends and it's never bothered them, but lately they've been starting to wonder if there might be more than just friendship between them.
After all, it's becoming clear that there are a lot of things they do that 'just friends' don't.
-
Pressing his face into his pillow, Buck giggled before mumbling, "Whoops."
"Whoops?" Eddie repeated. "We've been on the phone for almost four hours and all you have to say is 'whoops'?"
"It's been a great four hours," Buck said, the words tumbling out before he had time to consider whether he should be admitting them or not.
"Yeah," Eddie confirmed softly, making Buck's heart squeeze affectionately in his chest. "It has."

The Realm of Nexuntor (Lemurz Masterlist)
The Realm of Nexuntor takes place in, well, the Realm of Nexuntor. The party came together at the Colvinwrest Ball, a ball that opened its doors to all, from nobles to commonfolk, at the castle of the king of Derval-Ovlion.
The unlikely group consisted of an odd collection of characters: Angano Verona, "The Sun," the mycanthrope druid; Brash, "The Drunken Preacher," the bronze dragonborn sorcerer; Zoë Vitali, "The Builder," the tabaxi monk; Erdyrm Temlakos, "The Weaver," the aasimar cleric; Barnad, "The Onlooker," the earth genasi rogue; and Silas Everhardt, "The Companion," the human fighter. Angie would later leave the group; not long after did the group gain a new member: Yakaria Floros, the part-tiefling, part-avian bard.
Each was (unknowingly) assigned a title corresponding to those of a group of presumed heroes of the past known as the Silver Syndicate.
