Simon and Lucy: It isn't. Monsters live freely among humans and no longer hide like they once did. They're largely accepted by humanity, though some fear and microaggressions still remain. Possibly still some speciesism/racism considering the Van Helsings.
Jaren and Lizzie: A bit more of a Harry Potter type situation. Magical creatures often disguise themselves, cover up their odd features, act like normal animals, or live hidden away from humans, like ontop of sky scrapers, in the sewers, in rural areas, caves, mountains, underwater, etc. Or in special magical areas like Magus Bazaar. Guardians like Dragons are also responsible for keeping the magical world a secret. While the general public doesn't know about magic, there are some who do: Grampa John, Auntie Trixie and Uncle Spud, who helped Dad and mom defend the magical world; Professor Rotwood and Brock, who tried to expose magical creatures to the world (Although at least Rotwood seemed to have a genuine love of magic, where Brock was far more harsh and ruthless;) And the Huntsclan, which tried to hunt and kill magical creatures and wipe them off the face if the Earth. That said, like her father, Lizzie and Jaren wish to create more understanding between magical creatures and non-mysticals, reducing the need for hiding and insuring there won't be another huntsclan OR Dark dragon/Chang.
If your OC is in a universe where supernatural stuff is real, how is it hidden from the general public?

If I had a nickel for every time a Disney channel show had a whacky German antagonist, I’d have three nickels. Not a lot but weird that it happened 3 times.

American Dragon: Jake Long Timeline
Last May, I put together a pretty comprehensive timeline of the proper chronology of AD:JL episodes, but I’ve refined it a bit more since then, so here's the updated version. Under the cut because it's long.
September/October 2004
Old School Training
It’s implied in this episode that Jake got his dragon powers very recently. They don’t say how recently, but given how new the whole thing is to him, I’d say it’s probably only been a few weeks.
Here’s where we come up against our first issue with canon. In The Legend of Dragon Tooth, Jake says he got his dragon powers when he turned 13, and in Shapeshifter, he says he’s a Pisces, which means his birthday would be in late February, or March. There’s no way the timeline makes sense if that’s the case, so my headcanon is that Jake is just like…really bad at astrology, and he somehow confused Pisces with another star sign.
We also have the issue of how far behind he seems to be in school (he’s 14 in early season 2, but still in 7th grade). So, two more headcanons to explain that. Number one, Jake’s birthday is actually sometime in early September, so he missed the cutoff to go to kindergarten when he was 5, and had to wait until he was 6, placing him a year behind (some places don’t allow kids to start kindergarten if they turn 5 after September 1st. I knew a boy in my old youth group who was almost a year older than everyone else in our grade, because he had an October birthday). Number two, at some point in elementary school, Jake was held back a grade. So the first episode takes place shortly after Jake’s 13th birthday, at the beginning of his sixth grade year.
Since Trixie and Spud are supposed to be the same age as him, that would mean they must’ve both been held back at some point as well (that especially makes sense for Spud—anyone who’s purposely failed as many tests as he has would almost definitely have to repeat a grade).
(I do think it’s a little far-fetched that all three of them would have autumn birthdays, so I also headcanon that Trixie and Spud are a few months younger than Jake. I’d place their birthdays anywhere between, say…November and February maybe, but that’s open to interpretation, as it really doesn’t affect the timeline much. I just think it’s more realistic if their birthdays are spaced out a bit.)
I also think Rose is younger than them. She’s very bright, and she seems like a good student, so it’s unlikely she was ever held back. But we don’t want her to be too much younger, so I’ll headcanon that she also has a birthday in early September, making her a year younger than Jake. If that’s the case, she’d be 12 in season one, and 13/14 in season 2.
Shapeshifter
Dragon Breath
Adventures in Trollsitting/Fu Dog Takes a Walk
The dogcatcher says that it’s a Sunday in September
The Legend of Dragon Tooth
The Talented Mr. Long
Professor Rotwood’s Thesis
The Heist
Despite being paired with another half-length episode, The Egg, these two episodes actually take place several months apart. This episode shows that the magical world is still very new to Trixie and Spud, so it has to take place shortly after they found out that Jake is a dragon.
Act 4, Scene 15
The Long Weekend
Body Guard Duty
Dragon Summit
This episode has to take place after Shapeshifter, Dragon Breath, and Professor Rotwood’s Thesis, since the Dragon Council makes references back to Jake’s actions in all of those episodes. It also has to take place before The Halloween Bash, which places it sometime in September or October.
October 2004
The Halloween Bash
February 2005
The Ski Trip
Valentine’s Day was on a Monday in 2005, so presumably this episode takes place the weekend of February 11-13.
March 2005
The Egg
Easter was on March 27 in 2005. This is how I know The Hunted takes place during the Autumnal Equinox; Rose was still in the city during Easter weekend, a week after the Vernal Equinox.
Any time during Jake’s 6th grade year
Eye of the Beholder
Ring Around the Dragon
Jake Takes the Cake
May 2005
Fu and Tell/Flight of the Unicorn
Flight of the Unicorn takes place on Memorial Day, which was May 30th that year
Any time in 2005
Keeping Shop
September 2005
Hong Kong Nights
Jake’s essay talks about everything he’s learned in the last year, which suggests the episode takes place about a year after the start of the series
The Hunted
The Autumnal Equinox in 2005 was on September 22
November/December 2005
Half Baked
Jake says it’s been three months since Rose left. It couldn’t be exactly three months, because that would place this episode in late December, and school would be out for the holidays. So presumably it’s late November or early December, and Jake is rounding up when he says three months.
Bring It On
This episode establishes Spud’s crush on Stacey, so it has to take place before Breakout, because he tries to flirt with her several times in that episode.
The Academy
This one would have to take place very soon after Half Baked, like within a week or two.
Something Fishy This Way Comes
Rotwood is promoted to Principal after Derceto’s departure at the end of this episode. Rose addresses him as “Principal Rotwood” in Breakout, so this episode has to take place before that one
Breakout
This episode establishes that 88 and 89 are in the city working as apprentices to the Huntsman, so it has to take place before Hairy Christmas, because no one questions it when they show up in that episode
December 2005
Hairy Christmas
Any time during Jake’s 7th grade year
Hero of the Hourglass
Family Business
Dreamscape
The Doppelganger Gang
Trixie tutors Jake in biology at the end of this episode, but she didn’t understand biology until Dreamscape, so this episode takes place after that one
Fool’s Gold
May 2006
Feeding Frenzy
They spend three days visiting Jake’s family, so it’s either Memorial Day weekend, spring break, or summertime. Most likely Memorial Day or spring break, since Jake says in this episode that he’s been the American Dragon for a year and a half.
Any time during Jake’s 7th grade year
A Befuddled Mind
Haley Gone Wild
Young At Heart
I know this is supposed to be a later episode, but going by this timeline, Jake would be 15 for most of his 8th grade year, and in this episode Jake, Trixie, and Spud talk about being 14, so it has to take place during 7th grade
Summer 2006, between 7th and 8th grade
A Ghost Story
September/October 2006
The Rotwood Files
The Love Cruise
I know it’s a Valentine-themed episode, but they never explicitly say it’s Valentine’s Day, and I prefer to headcanon that Jake and Rose got to spend the whole summer together before their breakup, going on dream dates every night and not having to set their alarms for school in the morning (can we just let them be happy for a little while? PLEASE?!?!?!?), so I place The Love Cruise at the beginning of their 8th grade year.
Switcheroo
Jake and Rose’s recent breakup is a minor plot point in this episode, so it takes place after The Love Cruise.
Homecoming
I never went to public school (I was unfortunately homeschooled), but it’s my understanding that middle schools don’t do Homecoming. So my headcanon is that it was actually just a junior high prom or something, but a few students on the planning committee approached Sun Park and begged her to let them model it after the Homecoming dances at their older siblings’ high schools. Sun was delighted by their enthusiasm, so of course she agreed.
Supernatural Tuesday
My Google searches about public schools also tell me that class elections usually happen near the beginning of the school year; anyone who actually went to public school, feel free to comment on the accuracy of that.
Any time during Jake’s 8th grade year
Siren Says
Shaggy Frog
Nobody’s Fu
Game On
Bite Father, Bite Son
Magic Enemy #1
February 2007
Year of the Jake
Chinese New Year was on February 18th in 2007. This is, incidentally, the only episode that takes place on the exact date that it aired.
March 2007
Furious Jealousy
Trixie and Spud put together a Daylight Savings themed school event, so this episode takes place either in October of 06 or March of 07. We’ll go with March because it’s closer to the end of the series.
June 2007
Being Human
Haley and Gramps both say in this episode that Jake is 14, but he would actually be 15 by this point (even if my whole timeline is wrong and he actually is a Pisces, he still would’ve had his 15th birthday already). Presumably the writers just weren’t paying close enough attention to their established timeline, but the in-universe explanation is…sometimes family members forget your age.
Summer 2007, between 8th and 9th grade
The Hong Kong Longs
Rose is still in school when this episode takes place. I looked it up, and apparently some schools in Hong Kong don’t let out for the summer until mid-July. So this episode likely takes place during the first half of July.

hello can you post American dragon posing and flexing for pictures from the episode professor Rotwoods thesis in 1080p?
I’d have to decline on that because:
1) he’s already top heavy and is just emphasising his biceps
2) it’s too brief to really go into on any noteworthy detail, even with context
3) it’s not really that interesting to me
4) I can’t even find it in that high a quality anyway.

One from season 1!
Okay! First of Season 1! It's not the first episode entirely but still!
So. This is replacing the episode 'Professor Rotwood's Thesis', where Spud and Trixie find out about all the Magic stuff.
I have to rewrite this one from scratch because The Reboot is part of The Crossover. So, living in New York, the idea of non-Human people is common as there are Heroes and stuff. But the extent of it usually goes over people's heads because they rarely think of Non-Humans that are Civilians rather than Heroes.
This means that a teacher asking for proof of a Magic Creature would be..... unlikely.
So we have two trope-filled plots going on here!
From Jake's pov, he's getting a bit stressed. A bunch of responsibilities were suddenly dropped on him and since he hasn't told his friends, this is cutting into his time with them and making him flake out a lot.
In terms of him not telling them.... It's not that it's forbidden or anything. Humans can know about Magic and it's not a big deal. He just... doesn't know how to tell them and how they'll react. Especially now given the whole 'Guardian Dragon' thing. And Jake does feel a little hesitant given his parent's whole 'Susan never told Jonathan that she and the kids aren't Human' thing.
Meanwhile for Spud and Trixie, it's the 'our bff is suddenly acting super sus, missing hangout time, coming up with pathetic excuses, etc., so we're going to find out what's wrong!' plot.
Obviously this leads to Spud and Trixie following Jake when he 'disappears'.
Normally this plot would end in restoring the status quo. With Jake learning to deal while making up something to explain his actions with his friends none the wiser.
Nope!
Spud and Trixie follow Jake and see him deal with a handful of different Magic things and are like ???? Because they didn't think Jake was involved in any of that.
Then they see him go full Dragon and are like 'Yo what the FUCK???".At which point Jake's like 'I can totally- nah you know what? I'm not gonna make excuses. Hi, I'm a freaking Dragon."
A lot of explainations later, and now they're in on the whole scenario and Jake is just. God he feels a lot better telling them because he was really starting to go crazy and now even if he's dealing with a lot he has them as a support system.

Way Back Wednesday #3
Welcome to Way Back Wednesday! Every Wednesday, I am delving into my past as a fanfic writer and reflecting on and sharing one of my stories… starting from the very beginning, 16 years ago, when I was a 14-year-old kid discovering her love for fandom. ❤️
Today’s story is…
Choices
American Dragon: Jake Long
Summary: Since that fateful day when Jake found out Rose's secret, nightmares about confronting her have been haunting his dreams. What follows is an epic and harrowing series of events that will change his life forever.
Chapters: 45 | Words: 30,171
Year Published: 2005 | My age: 14
Relationships: Jake/Rose | Characters: Jake, Rose, Trixie, Spud, Fu Dog, Lao Shi, Jake's parents, Haley, Huntsman, Dark Dragon, Professor Rotwood, General Chang
AO3 Tags: Action/Adventure, Romance, Friendship, Whump, Hurt/Comfort, Fantasy
My reflections on and "review" of the story are after the break! :)
I have so many wonderful memories of writing this story. It was the first "long" story I'd written (back then, 30k words was like a whole-ass tome), and I was so proud of it. I remember where I wrote some of the chapters, and even have core memories of writing chapter 13 at a family friend's house in their basement. Strange, the things we remember.
Honestly, I really enjoyed revisiting this story. My writing wasn't as honed as it is today, but the grammar was good for the most part, and the plots (yes, plots, I milked this story for all it was worth and had like four plots, one right after the other) made sense. By this point, I'd gotten better at description, but I still glossed over some aspects that I don't think I would have today. I did create some of my own lore and an OC leprechaun, both of which were pretty well executed.
I am very proud of 14-year-old me for not making Rose an entire sad sack, though she is still pretty useless through most of the story. It's been years since I've watched the show, but from what I recall, the characterizations and voices were pretty spot-on.
Structurally, I feel like the story could have been far less chapters - maybe 20, instead of 45. Some were so short that nothing important really happened in them - a couple were too insubstantial to even be considered filler chapters! I do recall this being a time where I would have to write what I could when I could, as I did not have constant access to the Internet, and I was grounded a lot.
But yeah, this isn't actually a bad read; it's actually pretty fun. A bit contrived and wordy in some places, but it's a story I can definitely be proud of, considering I was a freshman in high school when I wrote it.
I do remember getting one of my first critical reviews (it wasn't even negative, just constructive) on this story. Basically, the reviewer commented that the story seemed to be going on longer than it needed to. Now, I see that as a fair point. Back then, I was a very emotional teenager who couldn't take any kind of constructive criticism, and I think I wrote back a snappish response to the reviewer. If you're out there, reviewer, I apologize for freaking out. I was a stupid kid with a lot of self-doubt.
All that being said, I really hope you enjoy if you read this story. Do remember that it is an old one, and that even if it is pretty well executed, I was still 14 years old and just finding my voice as a fanfic writer. :)

Top 10 American Dragon Jake Long
In honor of it finally getting on Disney+
Old School Training: Ah yes, the pilot that made us fall for this boy trying to do his best to help the magical world while his grandpa teaches him a la Karate Kid. Also hinting at one of the more tragic star crossed romances in the show.
Professor Rotwood's Thesis: Things get interesting when more people outside of Jake's family circle start finding out about his secret. Also points for getting rid of the whole friends can't know my secret identity drama early on. One does not need two seasons of that nonsense.
Dragon Summit: Fun because we get to see all the other dragons around the world and backstory time for Jake's ancestors.
Ski Trip: Oh yes, yes, the star crossed romance is revealed when we finally learn of the Huntsgirl's identity.
Eye of the Beholder: What? An episode addressing how men tend to look at women as objects instead of people. Great. Okay maybe it's a bit weird that Fu Dog is the one learning the lesson instead of any human characters but hey, it's still applicable.
Hong Kong Knights: Backstory time in this groovy 70s story with Grandpa versus the Dark Dragon.
The Hunted: It's a special! These are always good as the drama really unfolds here with the HuntsClan and Rose making her final choice to give up her ties and be with Jake or stay on the side of magical creature hunters.
Hero of the Hourglass: Jake finds out that keeping the dragon family secret from his father is for the best when he mistakenly time travels so Jonathan receives the letter that tells all, he breaks up with Susan. So obviously Jake must go back and fix his mistake.
Homecoming: Ah yes, another drama filled episode with the Huntsclan as they use Rose again. She has to complete one last mission before they'll let her go. That's what they always say ain't it. But she does something that changes everything.
Becoming Human: Leading up to the grand finale as Jake temporarily lets go of his dragon duties in favor of being human while Hayley steps up, experiencing the unfair amount of pressure put on Jake. And the ending....
The Hong Kong Longs: The grand finale of awesomeness which I think was a great way to end the show though I wouldn't say no to a third season. Anyway, old friends return, the whole family fights and it was great.

Inspiration! American Dragon Jake Long x Miraculous Ladybug Blended Universe! Now we have Paris Dragon Marinette Dupain-Cheng!
Marinette
Is the Dragon (with Ladybug colouring) for Paris under the training of her maternal grandfather, Wang Fu Cheng (lol).
Her best friends are also her partners in magical defending, both of whom she’s known since she was a toddler, Nino (a Kappa) and Kim (a sea simian) (these two are basically like Trixie and Spud to Jake in American Dragon: Jake Long series, except they’re also hidden, magical creatures).
Her dad is already aware that he married into a family of dragons.
Her mother is human-locked.
Both parents run a bakery.
Still loves designing and has actually made clothing that is both comfortable and functional for her magical creature friends.
Has the ability to creates objects from her dragon fire that she’s able to use in battles, even if sometimes the object is completely random. The “Lucky Charm”, as she likes to call it, has yet to let her down.
Huntsclan with Adrien and Chloe
Adrien will be Hunts-Chat and Gabriel will be the Huntsman.
I was thinking about Chloe being the Brad Morton, but Chloe actually uses her brain and has known Adrien since they’ve been in hunts-diapers (those were actually mentioned in the AD: JL series). So she’ll be a Huntsgirl and is best friends with Hunts-Chat, despite his love of puns. They actually act like siblings.
Both Adrien and Chloe have been trained by the Huntsclan since they were babies when their parents were killed by dragons (or so they’ve been told).
And yes, both have the dragon birthmark. Adrien’s is on his right palm and wrist, while Chloe’s is on her right ankle and lower leg.
Adrien has modified his hunts-suit to be more cat-like, hence the Chat part of his name.
Chloe, on the other hand, made no modification to her hunts-suit, but she does collect gems and jewels she finds during missions.
In the Love Square
Marinette adores Adrien and worries about her dragon heritage getting in the way of being with him, while Adrien has a crush on the sweet, thoughtful bluette who is basically an angel in disguise (his words to Chloe, btw).
However, Hunts-Chat despises dragon (thank Gabe) and Dragonbug (kinda had to give her this name in this, lol) hates the Huntsclan for crimes against the Magical Realm.
Kagami and Luka will join the fry eventually. Still figuring out how right now.
Alya
And lastly, and you can fight me on this, Alya is going to be the Professor Rotwood of this story, except that she’s a fellow student and she’s doing it more for a good intention rather than selfish ones.
She wants to meet the magical creature and learn about them, and also wants magical creatures and humans can get along.
DOESN’T KNOW that Marinette, Nino, and Kim are magical creatures. Or that a few of her schoolmates are.
Always has her phone on record to catch any sort of “Magical Event”.

Kwami Buster Theory: Mousinette Debut
I agree with a lot of people when they say Kwami Buster is most likely the episode where Multi Mouse will debut. Here's my thoughts on it:
The fact that Ms. Mendeleiev is going to be the one who gets akumatized reminds me of this episode in "American Dragon: Jake Long" where Jake also has a professor at his school who spends his time making conspiracies and trying to prove that the mythical world is real.
After seeing a Kwami, she tries as hard as she can to convince everyone that she's seen them and they exist.
Following the narrative of the American Dragon episode, my guess is, something happens that causes either Plagg or Tikki to be exposed and Ms Mendeleiev witnesses it. It could be something as simple as Tikki floating about and Ms Mendeleiev just happens to walk in on it by accident.
OR/AND
Ms. Mendeleiev actually has gotten a hold of Tikki. (Maybe we'll get some Plagg/Tikki moments where it's actually Plagg who's been careless but Tikki takes the bullet for it.) Marinette tries to explain that it's just a toy, but Ms. Mendeleiev swears that she saw it move. So she does what every teacher does and "confiscates" Tikki.
As a science teacher, discovering a kwami could be ground-breaking: she'll want to study them, expose them, learn about them! (I think what would be great for added character depth too is that she's already interested in Kwami lore and has been obsessing over it in her spare time - much like Professor Rotwood in American Dragon)
I reckon she would freak out in front of her class/confront them about it.
This would give us a great opportunity to see Chloe, Alya, Nino, Adrien and Marinette awkwardly pretend they have no clue what she's talking about.
Marinette especially, seems particularly passionate about saving the little red creature from Ms Mendeleiev's captivity and Adrien takes note of this.
So everyone tries to disprove her even though Ms M is insistent that she saw what she saw and she's 100% not lying.
This would be where the Akuma comes flying in. Maybe she's angry/upset that no one believes her. Maybe she's humiliated and embarrassed because she DOES in fact have evidence but people think she's crazy. Or perhaps she has Tikki in her captivity but Tikki escapes and when Ms. Mendeleiev is just about to reveal her new "discovery" to everyone, no evidence is there.
A similar plot point happens in American Dragon.
Then she becomes "Kwami Buster" - the akumatized!Ms. Mendeleiev has the power to seek out Kwamis - maybe track down the escaped Tikki or hunt down more! Hawk Moth gets excited - perhaps this villain might actually be able to track down the miracle box, or it might be easier to defeat Chat Noir and take his miraculous now that they have Ladybug's Kwami in their posession and she cannot transform. Maybe they'll use Tikki as bait to find Ladybug's identity.
Marinette is now Tikki-less and perhaps she runs to inform Master Fu that Kwami Buster has either captured Tikki or she can't find Tikki anywhere.
OR perhaps, Master Fu finds out himself that Tikki has been captured (maybe through the news, or witnessing the villain running rampant up close).
Now, even though it's logical for Master Fu to give Marinette the mouse miraculous himself right there on the spot, I really want ADRIEN to give it to her.
The way I see this happening is if Master Fu delivers the message to Adrien saying that Ladybug's Kwami has been captured and she cannot transform. So Adrien has to pick a partner who will help him stop Kwami Buster and track down the missing/captured Tikki.
And he remembers how passionate Marinette was about saving the little red creature and chooses her to fight alongside him. OR perhaps he just thinks Marinette will suit the Mouse Miraculous well and gives it to her anyway.
OR if Ms Mendeleiev has truly captured Tikki and reveals it to everyone - Adrien will recognise her (from Reflekdoll with the Kwami Swap) and he'll put two and two together and realise Ladybug can't transform without Tikki. So Adrien takes the initiative to visit Master Fu himself and gets the mouse miraculous from him. If this happened I think it would be a great moment for Adrien's sense of initiative to shine again (like in Oni-Chan when he realised Lila only faked being hurt to get him away from LB, or in Oblivio when he made CatBox) however, I'm doubtful this would happen because the show has a pattern for making Marinette initiate most ideas and it's only so often we get to see Adrien take on a similar mantle. (Here's to wishful thinking though!)
Side note: if this happens, it will be the first time Adrien chooses a hero himself! (We have yet to see Viperion and Pegasus' debut to test that thought though). The fact he chooses Marinette shows how close he feels to her and how much he trusts her (this is why I want HIM to give it to her, it would add more layers to their friendship) But perhaps it might be another "Bee Miraculous" scenario where Marinette intended the Bee for Alya, but Alya gets apprehended. In the same way, perhaps Nino might be Adrien's first choice (as his best friend) but something happens to Nino that makes him unreachable, so he picks Marinette instead. (But if Marinette is his FIRST choice oh boy wouldn't that be the sweetest).
And if Adrien DOES give the miraculous to Marinette as Chat Noir, can you IMAGINE the interaction they'll have?!
Chat Noir (with a soft look): "Marinette Dupain-Cheng, this is the miraculous of the Mouse/Rat. You will use it for the greater good."
Just imagine all the possibilities! The MARICHAT content! She could:
- Accept it right away
- CN would flirt with/tease her and make all the Cat & Mouse puns and jokes (Check out @Solunia on insta & tumblr for all the cutest Chat/Mouse comics!)
- She might resist it because she's already "Ladybug" and who knows if Chat will recognise her. But if she does resist can you IMAGINE Chat insisting that SHE'S the one he's chosen, and there's no better person he could trust: "I've chosen YOU Marinette, there's nobody else better suited for this that I could think of but you"
And boy, I am weak for those cheesy, soft, one-liners.
Then after they have retrieved Tikki, CN takes the Mouse miraculous off Marinette, thanks her for the help (I'm hoping for some hand-kissing action here ✋), then he delivers both Tikki and the jewel to Master Fu who dismisses Chat (to protect their identities) telling him he'll alert Ladybug that Tikki is safe and he should go and hold back Kwami Buster until she arrives. Marinette then sneaks her way to Master Fu, transforms into Ladybug, apprehends Kwami Buster, purifies the Akuma, calls on the miraculous ladybugs and calls it a day.
OR perhaps NONE of this happens. Maybe Tikki AND Plagg both get captured and Master Fu gives the Mouse and Snake miraculous to Adrien and Marinette individually. And we get Aspik AND Multi Mouse. However this will take away the chance for Adrien to give it to Marinette and I would love for that to happen instead and fingers crossed maybe Aspik will show up some other episode.
As of Ms. Mendeleiev... Will she forget all about it? Will she suspend her belief and call it all a fever dream? Will she continue to obsess over kwamis? Who knows, I guess we'll find out.
Well! Those are my thoughts/theories so far about Kwami Buster! Feel free to reply and comment what you think too!

American Dragon Timeline
I’ve been trying for a while now to figure out the timeline of this show, because it makes no sense in the order that Disney Channel originally aired the episodes. It also makes no sense in the episode list on Jeff Goode’s website, which he claims to be the proper chronology of events.
I had to come up with a few convoluted headcanons to make this work, but I think I’ve finally pieced together a coherent timeline (note that for a lot of the filler episodes, it doesn’t actually matter that much when they take place, I was just trying to stick as close to Jeff Goode’s chronology as possible.)
September 2004
Old School Training
It’s implied in this episode that Jake got his dragon powers very recently. They don’t say how recently, but given how new the whole thing is to him, I’d say it’s probably only been about a week or two.
This would also make Rose younger than them. She’s very bright, and she seems like a good student, so it’s unlikely she was ever held back. But we don’t want her to be too much younger than them, so I’ll headcanon that she also has a birthday in early September, making her a year younger than Jake. If that’s the case, she’d be 12 in season one, and 13/14 in season 2.

The dogcatcher says that it’s September.
September/October 2004
Shapeshifter Dragon Breath The Legend of Dragon Tooth The Talented Mr. Long Professor Rotwood’s Thesis Act 4, Scene 15 The Long Weekend Body Guard Duty Dragon Summit
Jeff Goode’s website lists this episode as taking place between Ski Trip and The Hunted, but there’s no way that’s possible, because Ski Trip takes place close to Valentine’s Day, and The Hunted takes place during the Equinox (they don’t specify which Equinox, but it would have to be the one in September; it’s the only way the timeline makes any sense, even with the generous liberties I’m taking with these headcanons). So The Halloween Bash has to take place before Ski Trip. No one in this episode makes any reference to knowing Rose’s identity, so it works out just fine.
February 2005
The Ski Trip
Valentine’s Day was actually on a Monday in 2005, so presumably this episode takes place the weekend of February 11-13.
March 2005
The Egg/The Heist
Easter was on March 27 in 2005. This is how I know The Hunted takes place during the Autumnal Equinox; Rose was still in the city during Easter weekend, a week after the Vernal Equinox.

Flight of the Unicorn takes place on Memorial Day, which was May 30th that year
May/June (or September) 2005
Keeping Shop
Hong Kong Nights
I know Jeff Goode’s website says this is the last episode of season one, but I absolutely cannot accept any episode besides The Hunted as the season finale, so I’m just gonna recognize that the council has made a decision, but elect to ignore it.
September 2005
The Hunted
The Autumnal Equinox in 2005 was on September 22
Late November/Early December 2005
Half Baked
Jake says it’s been three months since Rose left. It couldn’t be exactly three months, because that would place this episode in late December, and school would be out for the holidays. So presumably it’s late November or early December, and Jake is rounding up when he says three months.
The Academy
This one would pretty much have to take place very soon after Half Baked, like within a week or two.
Late December 2005
Breakout
This episode establishes that 88 and 89 are in the city working as apprentices to the Huntsman, so it has to take place before the Christmas episode, which they also appear in.
Hairy Christmas
January/February 2006
(Most of these don’t actually have to take place in January or February, aside from Dreamscape and Fool’s Gold. The rest could be pretty much any time during Jake’s 7th grade year. I’m just trying to stick to Jeff Goode’s chronology, and keep at least some of the episodes in the order he listed.)
Hero of the Hourglass Bring It On Family Business Something Fishy This Way Comes The Doppelganger Gang Dreamscape Fool's Gold
February 2006
The Love Cruise
They never explicitly say it’s Valentine’s Day, but the whole concept of the Love Cruise seems like something a school would do for Valentine’s Day. Also adds an extra layer of heartbreak, because it means Jake and Rose’s breakup happened on the one-year anniversary of Jake finding out Rose was Huntsgirl. Ouch. February has not been kind to Jake.
On the other hand, I’d prefer to headcanon that Jake and Rose got to spend the whole summer together before their breakup, going on dream dates every night and not having to set their alarms for school in the morning (can we just let them be happy for a little while? PLEASE?!?!?!?), so maybe the Love Cruise wasn’t on Valentine’s Day, and instead was just some random school event at the beginning of their 8th grade year.
May 2006
Feeding Frenzy
They spend three days visiting Jake’s family, so it’s either Memorial Day weekend, spring break, or summertime. Most likely Memorial Day or spring break, since Jake says in this episode that he’s been the American Dragon for a year and a half.
May/June 2006
A Befuddled Mind The Rotwood Files Haley Gone Wild Switcheroo
This one takes place after The Love Cruise, because Jake and Rose’s recent breakup is a minor plot point, so it only takes place at this point if we headcanon Love Cruise taking place in February.
Young At Heart
I know this is supposed to be a later episode, but going by this timeline, Jake would be 15 for most of his 8th grade year, and in this episode Jake, Trixie, and Spud talk about being 14, so it has to take place during 7th grade
Summer between 7th and 8th grade
A Ghost Story
Late September/Early October 2006

February 2007
Year of the Jake
Chinese New Year was on February 18th in 2007
Presumably the writers just weren’t paying close enough attention to their established timeline, but the in-universe explanation is…sometimes family members forget your age; my best friend keeps saying her youngest sister is 15, when in fact her sister is turning 17 this year. Sometimes you lose track.
Summer after 8th grade
The Hong Kong Longs
Presumably this episode takes place around July or August, which means Jake and his friends would be almost 16 by this point (and Rose would be almost 15, assuming my headcanon about her being a year younger than them is accurate).
