Activity update. This is a bit of a messy notice, but it's still worth noting. Let's sum it up with— my most recent housing situation that I thought would give me relative peace for roughly a year, has been a mess in recent weeks, and has come to a conclusion that involved an illegal eviction, and now a pending complaint from my end to the police. Now, this has me yet again temporarily bunking with family, which means that my activity can be anywhere from very active in the evenings, to very sparse for days on end.
Another thing that adds to this, is that I am also in the process of doing a bit of a career swap due to rational necessity, which has already had me quite busy in terms of applications. And depending on how things go— as wild as this may sound (and yet if you've known me for years, you know this isn't truly as insane as it sounds), one of my options may include a fully paid for relocation to Greece with quite a bit of on-site security through a known international recruiting company, but it all depends on how talks and subsequent interviews go. But, as I slowly do preemptive research, it's something I'm growing very fond and curious about, since France has done nothing but stab me in the back and front since I got here. But either way, if you could, cross those fingers and toes for me.
But having said all of this, I can't promise proper nor consistent activity, but I will try to be around at times because I will need to unwind, which is why I'll be on Discord (and even there, might be slow). I ask, once more, for patience, and I apologize that this seems to be a recurring request— but I'm determined to put an end to it being one. And if that means moving one more time abroad, potentially, then I'll happily do it. After all, neither traveling or moving abroad has ever frightened me.

just realized all my recent OCs have an element of alienation from their origin, something that pulls them apart and ties them between different identities, never to fully belong to either

"CAPTURE VAN HORST AFTER LONG CHASE," The Province (Vancouver). November 27, 1913. Page 15. --- He and Lester May Have Caused Disappearance of Japanese. ---- After being closely pursued for over a month, G. Van Horst, wanted in connection with the disappearance of Owago, a Japanese, and for alleged robberies in Vancouver, was captured yesterday afternoon in the woods not far from the Canadian border line, in the State of Washington. He surrendered without a struggle, and is now held in jail awaiting extradition proceedings. A companion, Lester is in the city jail here. He will appear in court on Friday on a charge of having stolen property in his possession.
The exact manner in which Van Horst was captured was not contained in the notification of the capture sent by Provincial Detective James Green, who with City Detective Killeen, has been on the trail of the man for several weeks.
Van Horst may be charged with the murder of Owago, a Japanese fisherman, who was was employed, it is alleged, by him and Lester to take them to Victoria, after having, it is said, committed several robberies in this city. They started from Lulu Island with the Japanese, but on reaching the gulf islands he was missing. The launch in which they made the journey was set on fire near Salt Spring Island, and scuttled. The two occupants took the regular coasting boat to Victoria and escaped.
Examination of the launch, it is stated, resulted in the discovery of blood stains on the gunwale of the partially destroyed boat, and also marks that were said to indicate that several shots had been fired. At Victoria, according to the police, an attempt was made by the men to dispose of the proceeds of their alleged crimes in Vancouver. Suspicions were aroused as to the manner in which the two men were behaving themselves. Detective Sergeant McLeod of this city, who Van Horst had been heard to remark, was the only man that he was afraid of, went to Victoria to aid in the search for the men.
They were followed by Victoria detectives and Lester was arrested, but Van Horst escaped after drawing a revolver on the officers who almost captured him on Point Ellice bridge. He was thought to have taken refuge in the vicinity of Esquimalt, and for several days a diligent search was continued there for him. Every effort was made to preclude the possibility of the man's escape from Vancouver Island, Special watch was kept over the possible means of escape, but he slipped through the officers' fingers. It is thought that he escaped from Vancouver Island in a rowboat.
Detectives Killeen and Green were detailed to work on the case, and after tracing him from the time that he escaped from the Victoria authorities, they finally located him across the line. Detective Killeen was forced to return to Vancouver, so the reward offered by the Japanese society for his capture will go to the other officer.
Lester, since his Incarceration about a month ago has maintained a stony silence, but It is said that amongst his effects was found a watch that belonged to the Japanese. When Van Horst escaped from Victoria, it is said he had over $15.000 worth of diamonds in his possession.

Whenever events like last night happen I feel this urge to run on the street and help. It’s a bit odd since usually I’m sooo far away but like I’m always wondering what can i do what should I be doing? It’s like innate. And it happens all the time in these circumstances.

diversity loss! those ppl correctly gendering u assumed you're straight..
#well 'correctly gendering' they genuinely just saw me as Some Guy i think so automatically referred to me as he#anyway there are a group of usually four to five ppl at the train station nearest to me who stop u and talk to you about sj stuff and/or as#you to donate. so stuff like immigrant rights lgbtq+ rights the environment et cetera & they were eyeing me when i was approaching (to#potentially be stopped & talked to etc. i get stopped like. 80% of the time around there) but then turned back towards each other and said#something along the lines of 'oh this is so scary this is so hard he's so scary' and then didn't stop me to talk and literally as i walked#away (i was JUST past them some ppl rlly do not wait for someone to be out of earsight to tall abt them) one of them said 'his face looked#good (as in approachable & a potential Person To Converse With) but the rest of him....straight man. look at that blouse.'#the previous sentence loosely quoted but it was smth like that...........WTF DO U MEAN STRAIGHT MAN??? TAKE THAT BACK PLEASE I BEG 😭🙏#<<<<<< also they meant cis straight man specifically i'm pretty sure...which is the absolute worst part of that whole assumption.#ALSO what's wrong with my blouse.........#thanks 4 the gender euphoria though. much obliged 👍#double also i don't think i'm using this meme setup thingie in the way it is supposed to be used but it makes sense either way. to me.#TRIPLE ALSO we're just assuming that if someone is a straight man they immediately don't gaf about social justice stuff?? okay.....#i mean i get it but also big generalization. but also i get it. but also big generalization. anyway. in other news i found out my grandma#used to write my grandpa actual poems. like ACTUAL actual poems of the professional sort that she made up and wrote down herself to give#to him <3333#& more news though this one is not very surprising and in fact very predictable I AM SO SLEEPY TIRED. ZONK TOWN I'M COMING DON'T U WORRY❗❗#just need to read the newspaper (the mutuals' posts of 2day) and then i am going to bed IMMEDIATELY u best believe.

Or human babies are ugly
My best friend and I had a call recently—she’s back with her family for a bit helping out with some hometown stuff. As part of the stuff, she’s been going through a (deceased) relative’s scrapbook, compiled in the American Midwest circa 1870-1900 and featuring mostly cut-out figures from the ads of the day.
She talked about how painstaking this relative’s work was. (Apparently the relative was careful to cut out every finger, every cowlick; this was by no means carelessly or hastily assembled.) But she also she talked about how—the baby on the baking soda ad is ugly, it is so ugly, why anyone would clip this heinously ugly illustrated baby and paste it into a scrapbook? Why would you save the (terribly told, boring) ghost story that came with your box of soap?
(Why include these things in the first place? we asked each other. ”There’s a kind of anti-capitalism to it,” she mused.)
And we discussed that for a bit—how most of the images, stories, artists, and ads were local, not national; they’re pulled from [Midwestern state] companies’ advertisements in [Midwestern state] papers, magazines, and products. As a consequence, you’re not looking at Leyendecker or Norman Rockwell illustrations, but Johann Spatz-Smith from down the road, who took a drawing class at college.
(College is the state college, and he came home on weekends and in the summer to help with the farm or earn some money at the plant.)
But it also inspired a really interesting conversation about how—we have access to so much more art, better and more professional art, than any time in history. As my bff said, all you have to do to find a great, technically proficient and lovely representational image of a baby, is to google the right keywords. But for a girl living in rural [Midwestern state] of the late 1800s, it was the baking soda ad, or literal actual babies. There was no in-between, no heading out to the nearby art museum to study oil paintings of mother and child, no studying photographs and film—such new technologies hadn’t diffused to local newspapers and circulars yet, and were far beyond the average person’s means. But cheap, semi-amateur artists? Those were definitely around, scattered between towns and nearby smallish cities.
It was a good conversation, and made me think about a couple things—the weird entitlement that “professional” and expensive art instills in viewers, how it artificially depresses the appetite for messy unprofessional art, including your own; the way that this makes your tastes narrower, less interesting, less open.
By that I mean—maybe the baby isn’t ugly! Maybe you’ve just seen too many photorealistic babies. Maybe you haven’t really stopped to contemplate that your drawing of a baby (however crude, ugly, or limited) is the best drawing of a baby you can make, and the act of drawing that lumpen, ugly baby is more sacred and profoundly human than even looking at a Mary Cassatt painting.
And even if that isn’t the case….there was this girl in [American Midwestern state] for whom it was very, very important that she capture every finger, curl, and bit of shading for that ugly soap ad baby. And some one hundred years later, her great-something-or-other took pains to preserve her work—because how terribly human it is, to seek out all the art we can find that resonates with us, preserve it, adore it.
It might be the most human impulse we have.

First off that's awful and I'm sorry you've been treated like that, second, are you currently already anti-psych/psych-critical? If not I think you should probably look into the theory and literature of it because I think you'd find it interesting
My mother's main line of activism is in anti asylum activism so yes I've read a bit and am very sympathetic/in support towards the people driving the movement. It's just not my field or something I'm personally involved with.
Being more specific most of what I've read comes from brazilian context like Nise da Silveira and Daniela Arbex, some recent works from Argentina. do have a solid basis of Goffman and Fanon for other reasons, read a decent bit of Cooper and Szasz and some french man whose name starts with A but I don't remember. and I guess the bit I know of Psychoanalysis and Soviet Psychology from my own graduation comes in handy too, read some literary critic works that graps trauma better than DSM lol, tho all the names I'm thinking of right now are from USP. you mean anyone/work in particular? I love reading recommendations
