Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.
Kamala 2024!
If you weren't going to vote Democratic in this election before Biden dropped out you're a dorkass loser who does not care about any of the issues you're yammering about here and also a fundamentally bad person, and I hope you get run over by a bus.
But you got one thing right in all of this gibberish, Kamala 2024.
#personal#answered#anonymous#i mean let's be clear here no president is gonna attempt to be progressive ever again within my lifetime#because joe biden tried to do like 25% of that and got ZERO fucking credit#he did so much on healthcare on reform on loans on so many social issues and for all his litany of failings on i/p#he has been distinctly harsher on netanyahu than a good chunk of dems and certainly the entire republican party#for the first time since i was four we are not involved in any wars as americans and that is thanks to joe biden#but the thing is that he gets no credit for any of it!#him pulling out of afghanistan caused his approvals to tank in a way that never recovered#and leftists gave him FUCK ALL for it#they gave him nothing they just continued whining that even tho he cancelled a bajillion in student loans#he didn't actually cancel a QUADRILLION dollars so both parties are the same and voting is the most arduous task known to man#no democrat who is running is going to forget that catering to leftist/progressive policies gets them zero leeway with those supporters#that it not only tanks numbers but you still get constant haranguing about it anyway#so they're not gonna do it#we are gonna get fuckall for at least a good fifty years#and anything we get will be utterly in SPITE of people like you anon it will happen in spite of everything you've done#mostly because of people like me and mine who understand that voting is the bare minimum#and that for the democratic process to work the way you want it to you need to participate and not pitch a fucking fit#like a four year old who was told they can't go to disney this weekend#like i know you ratfuckers are happy this played out because this is all a game to you and you don't actually care#but that's why i've got zero faith in you people and why i'm glad it's my kind of folks#actual die hard democrats who have always been hardliners for supporting democrats in every possible election#who are picking up the slack and donating to harris and supporting her agenda#which is the exact same as biden's because she's his vice president and they share they same platform#because that's what they were both running on! twice!#anyway fuck you please feel free to find a necktie and test how tall your doorframe is

Nothing gets in the way of sleep like one (one) small task does. I’m uniquely skilled at turning a thirty second (thirty seconds) task into a twelve hour (twelve whole hours) event. Procrastination doesn’t even begin to describe the hell I manage to put myself through to avoid such tasks

admin and applications
being unemployed is a lot of work! so much admin! i've tackled the most urgent bits and will tackle more tomorrow. after last week i realised that it's important i go do that work in some public place when possible because otherwise it'll encroach on my evenings
applying for jobs is also so weird. i oscillate between i'd like to do this job and it would be too challenging and i actually only want to work part time and not nearly full time

I think the inherent nature of The Brainworms make it difficult for people to think of creative ways to manage said brainworms and so they get frustrated when someone offers something that sounds deceptively easy but feels prohibitively difficult because they legitimately can't think it through in a problem-solving sort of way at the time
but if you take a post that's like "go to some events every weekend!" and you break it down to its basest elements -- the actual behaviours that provide the benefits -- what you actually get is "get out of your stanky ass room for a few hours periodically + find small ways to add novelty to your existence + be around other people even if you're not actively engaging with them". these are the practices that yield long-term benefits even if they feel uncomfortable as fuck in the moment. because depression and related conditions calcify you. they freeze your thoughts into one rigid pattern. they shrink your world down to the four walls around you and the many walls inside you. they give you a kind of amnesia that makes you legit forget that there are things out there in the world that you enjoy or have the potential to enjoy. (finding out about that really fucked me up ngl but it also gave me ammunition to be sceptical about the shit my thought patterns tell me. some parts of me literally just do not know/remember what it's like to not be mired in despair.)
even if you can only manage the "get out of your stanky ass room" bit (and maybe only for an hour) you are still exercising the plasticity of your mind and of existence. you are stretching. and sometimes a slow stretch is better than just jumping into going out and doing a bunch of shit (especially if you're out of practice). you do have to build confidence and self-trust first in order to really Get Out There. your body has to trust you to discern what you need, what will actually put you on the path to regulation, as opposed to what will just reinforce the cycle of shit. how do you learn that discernment? by doin shit like gettin out of your stanky ass room for an hour and then seeing how that feels. no, you won't be cured. but do you feel worse? (sometimes the answer is yes. then you try something else. maybe a half-hour, or maybe a completely different thing like doing gentle stretches in your stanky ass room for 10 minutes and seeing how that feels.)
I lost track of what I was sayin but also I think I basically said it all. so. *smoke bomb*
DISCLAIMER! if it don't apply let it fly, I don't care. I post for the people who get it not the people who don't

Writers, here’s your reminder that you should be doing warm-ups!
Athletes need to warm up. Musicians need to warm up. Artists need to warm up. Heck, I even have to play a few matches in video games before I get into a groove every day.
Warm-ups help you get into the right headspace, give you more control of your actions and word choice, get you comfortable in your physical setting (eg: with your keyboard, notebook, tablet, or whatever you're writing with), and spark creativity.
Even if you don’t think you have spoons to write, sit down and do a couple warm-ups. If you still don’t want to, that’s alright. But. I think you’ll be surprised how often they help break that ice.
5-15 minutes is all you need. I personally set a timer for ten minutes each time and do not stop writing until the time is up. Your warm-up can be anything at all so long as it gets you writing and starts nudging those creative juices.
Here's some common warm-ups:
Journaling. Just jot down some notes about your day. Feel free to really lean into something that you noticed. We're going for description and details -- try to avoid settling into a spiral or focusing on something negative that will upset your creativity.
Short story prompts. Type that into Pinterest and pick the most ridiculous, cliche thing you can. Write a little scene, story summary, or even a rant about why you do or don't like the prompt. Just write.
Vocab challenge. If you like a bit more critical thinking to get you in the zone, have a random vocabulary word generator spit out five or so words. Check their meanings and jot down a little story or thought that includes all five. You get more familiar with beautiful and descriptive language, and it gives you a much narrowed prompt (which is lovely if you're like me and suffer each time there's an open-ended task assigned).
Character moments. Try putting your character into a generic setting and write down almost meticulously what their thought process would be. Follow them realizing they've just stepped in mud or dreading the start of the day. Pick a mundane thing and describe them working through it. This will not only get your writing going, but it will wake up the character's voice in your head.
Ongoing storytelling. Did you know that Whinnie the Poo was A.A. Milne's warm up story? He would jot down a quick little story with those very basic characters and did so every day. Whatever came to mind. He kept writing little tidbits on the same characters and eventually it turned into a series. Having that ongoing plot with isolated scenes and simple characters can help you feel more motivated to sit down and write.
Get-to-know-you-questions. Google a list of basic first-date questions (there are a million out there) and answer one yourself. Go into specifics. Where do you most want to travel and why? Let yourself ramble until the question is fully answered.
Writer's block blues. This is a favorite of mine. If you're truly stuck, write about being stuck. Eg: 'I'm supposed to write for ten minutse, but that feels so stupid and impossible. No one is goign to read this anyway. I have no ideas and the page is so overwhelming when its blank. I used to be able to write on and on and nothing could stop me. it was like breathing. but now I have nothign and do nothing and I can't even do a stupid prompt-' Even the rambling and ranting got me writing. It made things easier. It made writing this post easier. Also -- notice the typos? Yeah, don't fix those. You're in writing mode, not editing mode when you're doing this. If you edit while you write, you're forcing yourself to stay in your executive and calculating headspace rather than falling fully into creativity and dream. Ignore the mistakes. That's for future you to handle.
I've officially rambled far too much, but I hope that helps even a little bit. Live well and write often, my friends. Best of luck to you <3

okay so my brain did a thing when I was playing cards with my mum. It went
"hey hear me out, what if I showed you Stone as a cards dealer in a casino." And then my imagination spiralled lmao
I feel like this would mostly apply to criminal!Stone or Serial killer! Stone timelines and instead of getting taken in my the mafia or turning to murder what if he got taken in my this illegal casino's previous owner to work for him as the person who basically conducts all the games and shit (idfk what they are called exactly) and then he meets the reader who is the current owner of the casino who is only the owner cuz of nepotism cuz the previous owner (his father) was all like "it may be illegal but you're still gonna take over after me (mostly cuz he knew that the casino was seriously illegal and it would be an easier way to get rid of this unwanted burden on him (the reader) and push the blame onto someone else
But plot twist, the reader seriously didn't agree with the shit his father did, call it a personal agenda against him for all the emotional abuse his father subjected him to since childhood or whatever, but he basically goes "SIKE BITCH YA THOUGHT" to his father's ideologies and uses the casino to basically eat the rich and get them into a debt trap from the casino and basically starts using it to help people in need (massive Serial killer!Stone type thinking right here) and Stone and reader basically team up to do this cuz Stone turns out to be really good at his job and it's really easy for him to rig games against the bitches playing and he becomes Reader's right hand man (criminal! Stone style) and they basically have eachother's backs and get eachother and bitch about their shitty dads all the while reader has to keep the way he's running the casino a secert from his father
Idk I just thought that would be a cool concept
-🥀
This was long holy shit
Honestly, my heart feels like Serial Killer!Stone would love this, but honestly, I can also see Criminal!Stone thriving in this universe.
What if we had both Stone variants in this universe. What if they were twins.

About the OFF Prologue
Thank you very much to everyone who played the Off demo! We're delighted that the response was so numerous and enthusiastic. Your comments and feedback will be invaluable to the team for the final phase of development.
Regarding the feedback that focuses on differences from the original version, which often necessarily involves the new soundtrack, but also a few other small changes : I can easily understand the difficulty some of you have in appreciating elements that replace those you've known and are attached to. But I want to remind you first and foremost that this version doesn’t intend to replace the previous one, which remains and will always remain available for free to everyone. At no point there's any intention of "removing" - one way or the other - the Alias Conrad Coldwood soundtrack, which is a very important part of the atmosphere of the original experience. Constraints forced us to choose to offer you this new soundtrack, which should be seen as another musical dressing for the world of Off, and not as a "final edition," canceling the previous one.
Moreover, the creative process for this new soundtrack was not solely driven by an attempt to recreate the exact same atmospheres as the original. I personally asked the artists to maintain a certain degree of freedom, and thus avoid falling into the somewhat impossible exercise of identically recreating existing atmospheres. As an artist myself, I thought it was more interesting to give the musicians a certain amount of room for expression and interpretation, not only so that the pieces they compose are interesting in themselves, and not just as reproductions, but also because I believe this is one of the aspects that makes the experience of this new version surprising and interesting.
I also know that for several of the excellent artists tasked with creating new music for this version, it was a source of rather intense pressure! Everyone on the team loves the original game, and knows how important its soundtrack is.
All that being said, the Dedan battle theme, which seems to have been a specifically controversial point, will most likely receive some changes between now and the final release.
Finally, I've read a few times about Toby Fox's supposedly dominant role on the team. Please believe that, as involved as he is in the game's development process, not only does he have no final decision-making power (which is more in line with my position), but he also works with us with enormous respect (and fear) for the source material. Of the entire team, I think he's the one who felt the most pressure from the fans, and still does. I ask you, please, to be assured of his sincere involvement and humble devotion to the project and to the batter's messianic quest.
The idea of replacing the dopefish with the dog from Undertale was mine, as the green fish is copyrighted; we were afraid Apogee would annoy us.
Well, that's all for now. I hope you're all well, thank you again for your support and your thousands of encouraging comments. I hope you'll like the final version!!
Have a great day everyone, go play Deltarune; my boss forced me to tell you.
Bye

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
beauty is a high value of mine, it makes life worth living, and with that i don't mean conforming to commercial beauty standards, but cultivating a beautiful environment, inner thoughts/mindset, and lifestyle. here are some things i want to do to make my life more beautiful:
avoiding stress by doing tasks and assignments early
feeling refreshed by not staying up late
experiencing the sunrise and sunset by waking up early and being more mindful of my environment/nature
having a clean and tidy room
having an organized digital space
having an athletic and flexible body by regularly exercising and stretching
having an uncluttered mind by journaling my thoughts everyday
having a positive mindset (no self-loathing, ugly thoughts!)
making life meaningful by not only consuming, but also creating beautiful things through creative means
pursuing my hobbies (writing, drawing, singing, dancing, crafting)
eating less processed food & more beautifully prepared healthy food
being hygienic by smelling good, caring for my nails & hair, and wearing stainless clean clothing
avoiding stress by not being forced to hurry
concentrating being in the present moment
minimizing social media usage

basically romanticizing my life
i hope these tips help you cultivate a more beautiful life too! i might make more blog posts if i feel inspired, because they are pretty too ;)

Process Discovery
Every Automation development has a lifecycle that begins with the Process Discovery phase and ends with the release and support phase. In which the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance phase happens in between. What makes the end product shine? It’s not only the release phase, but the phases that come before releasing the product are equally important. As Gordon B Hinckley…

Paradoxes Nothing in the world is as soft, as weak, as water; nothing else can wear away the hard, the strong, and remain unaltered. Soft overcomes hard, weak overcomes strong. Everybody knows it, nobody uses the knowledge. So the wise say: By bearing common defilements you become a sacrificer at the altar of earth; by bearing common evils you become a lord of the world. Right words sound wrong. [Ch. 78 of Tao Te Ching, ascribed to Lao Tzu; English version by Ursual K. Le Guin]
I'm water like how raging rivers are water, so I also find solace and praxis in Ch. 63 (excerpted from the same English version as above):
Consider Beginnings Do without doing. Act without action. Savor the flavorless. Treat the small as large, the few as many. Meet injury with the power of goodness. Study the hard while it's easy. Do big things while they're small. The hardest jobs in the world start out easy, the great affairs of the world start small. So the wise soul, by never dealing with great things, gets great things done. Now, since taking things too lightly makes them worthless, and taking things too easy makes them hard, the wise soul, by treating the easy as hard, doesn't find anything hard.
I'd recommend the entire Tao Te Ching, actually, for self cultivating mettle, but if nothing else, the above is presently, as ever, salient.
If you'd like something more literally applicable, however —
Living With Change When the government's dull and confused, the people are placid. When the government's sharp and keen, the people are discontented. Alas! misery lies under happiness, and happiness sits on misery, alas! Who knows where it will end? Nothing is certain. The normal changes into the monstrous, the fortunate into the unfortunate, and our bewilderment goes on and on. And so the wise shape without cutting, square without sawing, true without forcing. They are the light that does not shine.
(In other words, according to Ursula K. Le Guin's footnote to the above Ch. 58, Taoists gain their ends without the use of means.)
I won't promise it'll be okay, regardless of what happens over the next few days, but I can promise the outcome is navigable.
#tao te ching#idk if it's ever really helpful to just post excerpts of works like the tao te ching#especially in non native languages#like the chapters make more sense when read together and when used to elucidate each other#which requires great footnotes to catch where phrases are terms of art if you're reading in a language other than literary chinese#and even then like.#it helps to know the context of its compilation and arrangement (which is likely v different from its original form)#and if you're western you need to dissect your cultural backbone to identify and recognize inapplicable foundations#if you haven't already. otherwise you're going to hit walls with eastern philosophy like you wouldn't believe.#i was raised in a multicultural east meets west framework and I studied western civ & politics extensively#and it was still a massive lift to scrape the surface of enough china culture & philosophy to feel capable of interpreting my danmei faves#and even then it's like a fraction of comprehension#I'm not arrogant or silly enough to think I could ever like sparknotes thousands of years of cultural history the vast majority of which#I'm not capable of accessing at all#i don't have to feel this way about aristotle because so much of my world is built on his thought and theory and research#that like. my comprehension is involuntarily. his bonemeal is mixed into the concrete forming my existential foundation.#so much of what we think is innate is learned#we just process information without regard for provenance because we are finite creatures with finite attention#all of which is to say#this feels gaudy and shallow and like i'm conflating a smear of fat with the whole boar#but i'm not qualified to teach most of the shit i'm learning from so I just sprinkle enough that those who might similarly enjoy themselves#or find grit and meaning in similar or the same kinds of things as me#can latch onto what catches their eye#and do with it what they will#me and mine. i will do my silly little firm tasks that I've been putting off.#i will take a shower and reread the tao te ching.#i will read a chapter of frankenstein.#i will wake up tomorrow and continue to yearn and think and wonder#while tending to my survival and performing my obligations and conducting the petty rituals that afford me a life i can live with#the means may change but the end won't.

Firstly, the researchers removed the phones’ batteries and replaced them with external power sources to reduce the risk of chemical leakage into the environment, a ScienceDaily report explains.
Then, four phones were connected together, fitted with 3D-printed casings and holders, and turned into a working prototype ready to be reused.
“Innovation often begins not with something new, but with a new way of thinking about the old, re-imagining its role in shaping the future,” says Huber Flores, Associate Professor of Pervasive Computing at the University of Tartu in Estonia.
The prototype created by researchers was put to use underwater, where it participated in the monitoring of marine life by helping to count different sea species.
Normally, these kinds of tasks require a scuba diver to record video and bring it to the surface for analysis. The prototype meant the whole process could be done automatically underwater.
And there are many other ways that a phone’s capacity to efficiently process and store data can be put to good use after its WhatsApping days are done.
These mini data centres could also be used at bus stops, for example, to collect real-time data on the number of passengers. This could help to optimise public transportation networks.
Such smartphone repurposing is just a drop in the ocean of issues that natural resource mining, energy-intensive production and e-waste present. Ultimately, we need to challenge this throwaway culture and move to a more circular model.
