making that last post just made me think about this again and I'm crying
been in stitches for the past 24 hours because I can't stop imagining Xolani* sayin "hey! wanna see me cast mage hand?" and promptly yeeting Gale's Severed Hand™ across the room without waiting for an answer

I finally went back to my Evil Durge BG3 playthrough and immediately got aggravated because one of my mods adds the Whispers of Madness passive to me as an innate Durge trait, which means every time I hit <30% health I go mad and start trying to kill everyone around me (companions and NPCs included) for 3 turns unless I pass a stat check. which is amusing, ngl, but in Act 1 it's very easy to end up getting smacked for 80% of your health in one turn, and sometimes I have NPCs with me that I need to keep alive For The Plot. like Sazza.
so after a few reloads I finally positioned the party so I would be towards the rear and my dedicated tanks like Lae'zel and quick killers like Astarion would be in the front. like I should have been doing from the beginning, probably, but hey, Durge likes to be in the middle of the bloodbath, what can I say.
the point is, I just thought about how appropriate that is for my actual Durge ("Durge"), Xolani -- the party constantly being a shield for her so she won't succumb to blood-madness, and not just literally in the battle sense, but in the way they stoke other passions in her to drown out Bhaal's voice and reconnect her with her own, in the way she never feels abandoned or rejected by them, in creating a bubble of safety and solace in the midst of all the chaos around them. because she is their glass cannon deus ex nautiloid and important to their party composition, sure (she's the token mage in general since Gale is but a magically-preserved hand in her backpack) -- but also because she is dear to them, and knowing that she is dear to them is an ever-replenishing source of strength. in comparison, Bhaal's possessive claim on her can only quail and cower and eventually crumble.

dating is such a strange and alien concept to me. here is how all of my non-platonic/queerplatonic relationships happened:
met in the psych ward
met at a drop-in center for homeless youth (this one did "ask me out" but ofc our broke asses didn't go on any real dates, we just Were Together after that)
met at a vampyre scene party, moved in with him the next day (broke up after a month or so but still lived together bc we made really good friends)
met on Xanga, moved across the country to live with them (this happened several times bc the relationship kept crashing and burning and we were just stupid enough to not learn anything from it)
just started fuckin one day. like idk how else to explain it
were crashing at a mutual friend's apartment, true enemies-to-lovers situation (we used to fight constantly)
met on tumblr, long-distance for a few years. this one did have a couple of "dates" so to speak but we had already declared the relationship beforehand
the idea of meeting some person on an app or in a bar and going "hey want to go on a date sometime" and then going on a date and then doing this whole insane song and dance to determine whether they are The Right Person to Call A Boyfriend/Girlfriend/Partner/Getaway Driver or whatever and then doing yet another song and dance to actually make that official is as fascinating to me as it is to watch nature documentaries about mating rituals in nonhuman creatures. but at least the mating rituals have like. actual songs and dances

Dayir grew up in a communal social environment and has episodes where she is fully out of her body and needs people to watch out for her. Asking for help is a fact of life that has never seemed anything but natural to her. She also assumes that other people always require help, because that's natural and normal, and this is obviously annoying to hyper independent types but many people find it unexpectedly relaxing -- they don't have to ask, because she's already offering.

How does your wol(oc feel about asking for help?

It seems We gravitate towards at least two particular archetypes when creating avatars of Ourself. One is pretty easily described as the Wounded Child -- these are entities who are characterised by their loneliness, abandonment, or other form of emotional/social neglect. The other archetype is harder to summarise but is essentially what the Wounded Child would be if they hadn't been, well, wounded in such an absolute fashion. The core is desire, passion, connection, and what happens when that core is either fed or starved.
In both cases, the character exhibits high sensitivity and deep feeling. They are all very charismatic in some way (for better or worse...). They have a connection to the fabric of all things, whether through magical aptitude or some other means, depending on the fundamental laws of their universe.
We like to play with themes of divinity for obvious reasons, from both sides of the altar. Same with themes of more-than-oneness, sometimes in more of a literal/tangible fashion than what we got in this world (plurality). Duality and the push-and-pull of opposing cosmic forces is very common. Any trope that is repeated across Our avatars even if only twice is something foundational to Our being.
That being said, I'm a bit confused at how the spider motif hasn't been repeated. Why is only one of Us a spider? That makes NO sense whatsoever. I can only assume I simply haven't discovered any others yet.
Question #1: Do you have common themes, tropes or character types you've noticed among your fictomeres ('types, fictives, and flickers)? What are they?

I did start using bluesky again and that's mainly because when I finally remembered to log in and lurk a bit, one of my mutuals happened to be putting out a casting call for FFXIV OCs to join his OC in an idol group and well I couldn't not jump on that. and then of course I had to answer some WoLQotDs and well now I'm sucked back in. so it goes...
but come on, isn't this just utterly goddamn adorable

whipped up a quick Ishan model so I could do this -- the three Void-born relics of failed Ascian manipulations, together at last. Cyella and Unulkalhai are attempting to impart upon Ishan the importance of saving the Thirteenth but his ass is Not Listening (the expression he's supposed to be giving is "whistling innocently whilst studiously ignoring the glares of his companions")

Shock and not a small amount of disgust. In her mind, there is never any cause to yell at someone (aside from trying to be heard across a battlefield or some other clearly logical situation) and she finds it to be utterly uncouth and offputting behaviour.
If she's alone, then she'll attempt to get as far away from you as possible. If she's with someone like Haurchefant or Estinien, expect to be, how we say, forcibly shown some manners.
If she's with Zenos or her Shadow, you'd better start running, idiot.

How does your wol(oc) handle someone yelling at them?

this is the first summer I have had a temperature & humidity gauge in my room which means I now have a lil device constantly going 🤨* at me when I'm like "god why am I so tired/vaguely queasy"
*translation: "bitch it's 85F/30C with 55% relative humidity in here"

don't you even worry about comms, I can prove they mean nothing (voice of someone who just carried a limping party through Anyder on my tanky back with a total of FIFTY-FIVE party deaths and almost SEVENTY MINUTES in duty, had to kill two of the bosses myself, and got zero comms)

also, I have made it into Endwalker so I'm now officially into content I've only played once prior instead of multiple times 💀
and I have revised my expansion ranking. Endwalker is now my favourite (used to be ShB)
Endwalker
Heavensward
Shadowbringers
Stormblood
I've realised that the way I feel about an expansion is pretty much directly tied to the music. StB does have the weakest music for me -- still a couple bangers in there and a couple of zone tracks stand out for me (Azim Steppe's, for example) but it's mostly forgettable overall
(meanwhile, hearing The Ewer Brimmeth for the first time ingame again was like... idk. being kissed on the forehead by Hydaelyn Herself)

I think it would be funny for Dayir to be, like, Rogue Trader rich. Rogue Traders don't bother with currency because their dynastic wealth is so vast that anything they could possibly buy costs like pennies to them. Their whole shopping strategy is "put it on my tab". Then we could have the dynamic of old-money Alphinaud vs new-money Dayir. Also the interesting element of being the epitome of a public servant but also being the only person who can afford some of the insane gambits the Scion pulls off in their service of the public (like funding national reconstruction ventures, or getting the Ragnarok built in record time...).
The Anti-Dayir Society™ hates this of course and insists that if she learned about their lil organisation she'd throw her money around to have them blacklisted and their careers ruined and so on and so forth. Which is funny because she definitely knows they exist, she just believes in free speech and isn't afraid of being disliked by strangers.

What does she think of her own fashion style? It's hers. She loves it. What other feeling is there? If you don't like your fashion style, would you not change it?
^ Obviously, this is a viewpoint of someone who has infinite means to develop/refine/change their fashion style, lol. Dayir the One-Percenter
