But a rear wheel with 24 proprietary straight-pull spokes isn't going to last forever, so I've taken advantage of the reduced price Hope hubs currently for sale on Merlin. I've been swapping the 135QR Pro 2 between six frames for the last 17-18 years; the original aluminium freehub got chewed up within the first year, replaced by a steel one that hasn't skipped a beat since.

This new Boost 148 hub has 32 spoke holes and a steel HG freehub straight out of the box (I've no interest in the expense and anecdotal faff of 12 speed). Of course, even at sale price this one hub costs more than my current Mavic wheelset! But, built into a strong rim, the resulting wheel should see me out. Buy cheap, buy twice...

Death’s Fanged Beast @elriel-month

I love that we continue to get hints throughout the books that there’s more to Elain than meets the eye. From Feyre noting that she showed some teeth, to Rhys observing that Elain’s people pleasing doesn’t allow her true self to emerge, to being the one to step out of a shadow to stab Hybern through the throat. Elain has teeth, and claws, and I cannot wait to see her use them in the next ACOTAR book.

A massive thank you to @/honeyypears on IG for bringing my vision to life for this piece. I wanted Elain to step into her powers, to embrace the dark elements of herself, and to have Az supporting her, as if to say “that’s my girl.”

We’ve only gotten glimpses of the fanged beast that resides in Elain, and I cannot wait to explore her character in her book!

Tbh I love that Snape is almost always either unusually soft spoken or screaming in the books. Most voice headcanons for him seem to come from the movies but I'm here for Snape who is diminutive except for when he's losing his fucking marbles.

For @erisweekofficial Eris Week 2024 Day 5: War | Adventure

The moment I saw Freddie Fox as Gwayne Hightower on House of the Dragon, I immediately thought, "That's my Eris." I commissioned @evermorelore , who has an amazing blend of realism and water color style for fantasy characters, to make the vision come to life! I told her, take this reference (see below) gif of Gwayne and Eris-fy him! I love the Autumn details on the armor and the way she recreated Freddie's beauty and made him very Fae was perfect for our Autumn Prince!

This piece is supposed to represent Eris in ACOWAR during the Hybern battle. Here are some fun canon quotes:

"Out of a rip in the world, Eris appeared atop our knoll, clad head to toe in silver armor, a red cape spilling from his shoulders."

"Eris was bruised and cut up enough to indicate he must have been in terrible shape after the fighting ceased yesterday, sporting a brutal slice down his cheek and neck—barely healed."

I have also written a fic "Carry You Home" to accompany this art of Eris being saved on the battlefield by his own knight in shining armor!

Rendering this piece was actually the most fun I’ve had. The lighting was intimidating but I love how it turned out!

I hate how SJM wrote it so that Nesta would have to give Bryce the Mask in order for Bryce to defeat the Asteri, only to have the IC threaten Nesta and rip her to shreds for it.

We had this crossover so 1) Bryce could steal Truth-Teller, 2) Nesta would give Bryce the Mask, and 3) in return, Bryce would give Nesta Gwydion. But while Bryce is the hero of the story, who saved Midgard, Nesta is treated like the irresponsible idiot who risked Prythian, rather than the intergalactic savior that she is.

And it's not like Feyre and Rhys haven't risked Prythian in order to save Prythian. They literally released death-gods from confinement hoping they could control them. And as we saw with Bryaxis, clearly they can't. But they're still heroes.

Next book, Nesta better get the praise that she deserves for helping Bryce defeat the Asteri in Midgard, thus ending the enslavement of all those people that the IC don't care about, but Nesta does.

Happy Elain Archeron Week Day 6: Fanged Beast

One of my absolute favorite theories in this fandom is that Elain will be able to traverse the murky realm, like the Mystics in HOSAB. @wingedblooms incredible mind connects details in a way most only dream of and has helped to further my excitement for Elain’s book and journey. You can find the two main theories that inspired this piece here and here.

The first time we see Elain peer across the world, she is doing so as a trembling fawn, but my hope is that, she will peer across worlds on her way to becoming a fanged beast and embrace that side of her in her own book.

In this piece, Elain has left behind Az and Bryce in Velaris, and stepped into the murky realm, only to be greeted by a waiting Apollion, mirroring Az. Apollion’s black eyes, deep and dark as the Pit in which he dwells- a telltale sign that his relaxed posture is nothing more than a trick to give a false sense of calm. But I have confidence Elain’s fangs and claws will get her back home.
