Jordan has secured its first medal of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with Zaid Mustafa winning silver in the Taekwondo 68kg event, losing to Ulugbek Rashitov of Uzbekistan, the reigning Olympic Champion.

Prince Feisal of Jordan, President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee and member of the International Olympic Committee Executive Board, awarded the medals. The prince also congratulated Princess Zeina Rashid, vice president of the Jordan Taekwondo Federation and a former Olympian, for her efforts in developing the sport and raising global competitiveness of athletes.

🌙 Books for Arab American Heritage Month 🌙

🌙 Good morning, bookish bats, and Eid Mubarak to those who are celebrating. Eid al-Fitr ("the feast of breaking the fast") marks the end of Ramadan, an Islamic holy month of fasting and sacrifice. April is also Arab American Heritage month, which celebrates the 3.7 million Arab Americans across the country. This is an opportunity to combat Anti-Arab bigotry by challenging stereotypes and prejudices.

✨ One of the best ways to do so is to read books ABOUT Arab Americans. To help, here are a few books for Arab American Heritage Month you can read, discuss, or add to your ever-growing TBR!

I'm not really that upset about the U.S. election because I expected this to happen anyway. I guard myself from disappointment by assuming the worst.

I worked as an accountant in a company, but with the escalation of the war, my professional life came to a halt, and the goods warehouse was burnt, along with my completely destroyed home. We fled to the north, but now we live in the tents of the displaced in Deir al-Balah.

The situation is not easy, especially with Dina’s upcoming childbirth and our fears of lack of healthcare and unhealthy conditions. Our children suffer from widespread diseases and long for their previous lives and schools.

Everyone, this is Ahmed Alanqer. He is currently trapped in Gaza with his wife and their four children, and they are trying to raise the funds they need to evacuate. Zeina is their eldest child, described as being the one who is always willing to help. She is only 7 years old. Their daughter Eileen is the middle-child, who they describe as a "princess," and she is 6 years old. Their boy, Yamen, is 4 years old and said to be a lovely human being. They also welcomed a newborn baby girl into their family near the start of June.

Their goal is to raise €35,000 to put towards their evacuation to Egypt. They are gettling closer & closer to their goal, having raised €30,117.
