When I started listening to The Magnus Archives, it didn't take long for me to find some Tumblr art of the Jon and Martin ship. As I have little experience with shipping (I am new to Tumblr), my expectations were that it was more akin to something like Zutara from ATLA, a pairing with excellent chemistry that ultimately wasn't going to happen canonically.

Amazingly, Jon x Martin is a ship that DOES sail and is completely canon! I'm still getting used to the notion of...

Y'know I just realized that my usual expectation of "this character ship is probably a non canon one the fan base latched onto" is actually fucking stupid considering all the shows I've watched in the past. As it turns out, almost all of the character ships I've encountered are canon ones? Going through my hazy memories of TV shows I've seen:

Dungeon Meshi- Labru and Farcille, Leverage - Ford and Sophie, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - Ed and Winry, SheRa and the Princesses of Power - Catra and Adora (I think? I remember a kiss but not much else, it's been a few years lol), Castlevania - Trevor and Sypha, and obviously Good Omens with the Ineffable Husbands Aziraphale and Crowley!

So yeah my gut instinct to think "Nah that strange character ship probably isn't really a valid thing in canon, just weird people being ship crazy haha" is a load of shit that I need to fix. I'm on Tumblr now, might as well be able to engage with character ships properly!
