Polio Vaccination Campaign in Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict
Polio Vaccination Efforts in Gaza City Amid Ongoing Conflict Thousands of children in Gaza City are currently receiving their second dose of the polio vaccine, a critical initiative that faced delays due to intense Israeli bombardment and widespread evacuation orders in northern Gaza. The United Nations and various aid organizations have reported on the situation, highlighting the urgent need for…

640,000 children saved from paralysis?
by Dr.Harald Wiesendanger– Klartext What the mainstream media is hiding Because polioviruses have appeared in Gaza, the WHO is vaccinating 640,000 Palestinian children. Upon closer inspection, what looks like a great humanitarian aid operation turns out to be a hair-raising scandal. In June 2024, in the ninth month of another war between Hamas and Israel, a poliovirus appeared in sewage…

I created this art as a gift for my friend Diya. This is his son, Magdy and his cat whose story I shared here.
Right now, Diya is separated from his family in Gaza and has been for over a year. His family is facing the second winter since they were displaced from their home. The winters in Gaza are harsh. People are taking shelter in flimsy tents, that don't protect them from the wind and rain. The rain brings with it flooding that destroys everything. Diseases are spreading with no access to proper sanitation and medical care. When they went to receive polio vaccinations, they witnessed an IOF attack on the taxi in front of them.
The last donation was 6 hours ago, and there have only been 4 donations in the 24 hours. We need to help Diya reach his short-term goal of 30% so he can help his family purchase winter supplies that they need to survive. It is already November. There is literally no time to waste. His family has suffered through so much already. Please stand by them and do everything you can to support them. Share this post and donate. With your help we can reach the goal!
This campaign is vetted by association here. It is also #55 on the Gaza Vetters List by @/gazavetters.
$6,732 / $9,000 (short term goal)

Don't Maram Ashour's children deserve to live with dignity?
My other promotion lists
Note: I do not often make posts for campaigns I am not focusing on, and I won't be updating this. I encourage others to adopt this campaign (because I can't right now) and make sure it gets the traction it needs.
Updated: Sep 20
Member(s): @ashourmohammed
Verification: link
Payment methods: Paypal, credit/debit
Summary: The Ashour family's 2 young children are traumatized as they've grown up knowing nothing but war. They all deal with inhospitable living conditions, but their youngest daughter (9 months old) is particularly at risk of disease (like polio) as she was born during displacement and received inadequate healthcare and vaccinations.
Current progress:
£ 1,826 / 25,000
Campaign/family details:
This campaign involves Maram Ashour, her husband, and their 2 young children Amir (3 years old) and Hoor (9 months old)
Funds are used for evacuation so the family can live a peaceful, dignified life.
The family live in a cloth tent that provides inadequate protection from the elements. My note: Many Gazans worry about the approaching cold weather.
Food is scarce whereas disease and insects are plentiful.
The family were displaced south of Gaza to the city of Deir al-Balah. During this, Maram had a difficult pregnancy and childbirth. Hoor was born in December.
She received inadequate birth healthcare and vaccinations. My note: This puts her at risk of polio like many other Gazan babies, which can be lethal.
Both children's lives are accompanied by constant bombing and explosions. Amir is terrified by them and has intense crying attacks when he hears them.
Maram asks "Don't my children have the right to live with dignity in a healthy environment and a stable life like the rest of the world's children?"

Trying to understand here... how is someone calling whats going on in palestine right now "genocide" antisemitic? The "fuck zionism" part is, I'm not denying that, but is it not true to call what's happening genocide? Thousands of Palestinians have been and are being killed without discrimination of if they are members of Hamas or Hezbollah. Innocent citizens of the Gaza strip, regardless of nation, have been and are being killed. The sheer amounts of Palestinian deaths are heartbreaking and I don't understand how people calling something out for being literal genocide can be something that makes you label someone antisemitic. I'm not being facetious, genuinely trying to understand and learn here. I've followed your account for a couple years probably at this point, since you were hadean-taiga, and I'm spelling stuff out so clearly so that I can attempt to avoid an automatic block.
No, what's happening right now is not genocide. It's war. And yeah, war really sucks.
Genocide is not just "a lot of civilians dying". I'm sorry, but it's not.
Genocide has an extremely specific definition. It requires both of two parts: a mental part, and a physical part.
The mental part of genocide is the intent to destroy, in part or whole, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.
The physical part of genocide includes the following acts that must be done in conjunction with the above mental part, aka with the intent to destroy a group of people:
Killing members of the group;
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
Genocide requires both the mental and the physical aspects.
Are Palestinians being killed and experiencing physical harm? Yes. But not because Israel is trying to wipe all Palestinians off the face of the Earth. They are dying as casualties of a horrible, awful war. Israel is at war with Hamas. Two armies fighting is not genocide, even if civilians die in the crossfire.
The intent of Israel is to defeat Hamas, so that Hamas can no longer harm Israelis, which Hamas has been doing since the 1980's.
Yes, thousands of Palestinians are dying. That's because the war, that Hamas intentionally caused, is happening in Gaza, a dense urban zone where a lot of Palestinians live. If you have a war in a dense urban area, a lot of civilians are going to die.
There are multiple proofs of evidence that Israel is in fact trying to reduce civilian deaths as much as they possibly can, which contradicts any claim they are "intentionally trying to destroy" as many Palestinians as possible. The IDF has been actively warning before its raids and strikes, it has been maintaining open pathways for aid to enter Gaza, and it literally just cooperated with Hamas for a massive polio vaccine campaign in Gaza.
Vaccinating thousands of children against polio is an act intended to protect and save lives. It is the literal opposite of an act of genocide.
War fucking sucks all on its own without being a genocide. This is why we are calling for a ceasefire! War is bad enough on its own!

MATCH MY DONATION TO SHAIMA/MUHAMMAD
Tumblr media
verified ✔: no. 260 on el-shab-hussein/nabulsi’s sheet   follow: @wafans-blog
as some of you may know wafaa (@wafans-blog) has recently reached her goal amount for her own gfm campaign. along with this momentous achievement, she has also gotten word from her siblings, muhammad and shaima, after months with no contact. thankfully, they and their own families are unharmed (14 people total; 10 of them are children) however, they are still stuck in al-mawasi camp- the youngest among them is a newborn, salem:
Tumblr media
ghazzans are being mercilessly attacked. beyond bombs and bullets, they are also facing biological warfare whilst living under occupation
the world health organisation's director-general has said "it is only a matter of time" before the thousands of children in gaza are infected with polio. a disease [which is highly infectious, invades the nervous system, and can lead to paralysis] that had once been eradicated is now becoming the latest threat to ghazzans
as a newborn, salem has yet to receive any vaccinations, leaving him especially vulnerable to disease. and while WHO has sent over 1 million polio vaccines to be administerd-- it is likely one of many supplies being withheld from ghazzans (but is available to israeli soldiers)
if you have the means, please consider matching my donation ($5 USD). i understand if people can't spare it at this time, but please share this post regardless of your ability to donate so others may have the chance to help as well 🖤
shaima/muhammad have gotten a few more donations after mine-- currently, they have raised: $5,228 / $80,000. let's try to get these folks to 7.5K by the end of the week!

Due to the escalating violence, intense bombardment, mass displacement orders, and lack of assured humanitarian pauses, MOH, @WHO, @UNICEF, @UNRWA have been compelled to postpone the polio vaccination campaign in northern Gaza.
It is crucial that the campaign is urgently facilitated in the north through the implementation of the humanitarian pauses, ensuring access for wherever eligible children are located.

Hamas Political Bureau member Izzat Al-Rishq: Telegram
The criminal Netanyahu's talk about designating specific areas within the Gaza Strip to allow for polio vaccinations is not an agreement to a humanitarian truce requested by the United Nations and international organizations. Instead, it is a new manipulation and blatant deceit aimed at continuing the genocide and systematic killing of our people, and furthering the slow death of Gaza's children. This suspicious method that Netanyahu and his government are trying to impose would thwart the United Nations' initiative and deprive hundreds of children of the polio vaccine. What is required from the United Nations and the international community is to exert all possible pressure on Netanyahu to accept a comprehensive humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, so that the vaccination can be carried out for all the children in the Strip, according to the UN's call, rather than selecting specific areas chosen by the fascist occupation government at its discretion to continue committing its brutal crimes against innocent and defenseless civilians. We renew our support for the United Nations and international organizations' initiative for the immediate and urgent start of a comprehensive humanitarian truce across the entire Gaza Strip, to allow for the polio vaccination campaign for all our children in the sector, who are living through a real tragedy due to the spread of diseases and epidemics, because of the continued aggression and genocide committed by the occupation for more than ten months.

help mohammed and shaima's family members!
i've had a lot more people tell me wafaa met her goal than people who realized she is supporting another campaign to help some of her other family members!
she lost contact with her brother and his family for MONTHS not knowing if they were alive or dead, and they have a young baby with them who needs vaccinations - remember that there's multiple illnesses spreading gaza right now including POLIO - but none of the hospitals can administer them.
please, the campaign has been stagnating these past few days. remember that every day they are at risk of death, and there is a literal few weeks old baby who needs to be evacuated as soon as possible. do not let this campaign stagnate

The ongoing polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, which aims to inoculate 640,000 children under the age of 10, showcases the hypocrisy in the current geopolitical landscape.
Despite the urgent need for vaccinations, there is no comprehensive truce to ensure these children's safety, only temporary "humanitarian pauses" in specific places that Israel has agreed to amid its continuous military operations in the Strip.
These pauses are far from sufficient, given the continuous threat of violence from the occupation forces even within safe zones, and reflect a deep irony: the same global powers funding the World Health Organization (WHO) to administer these life-saving vaccines are also supplying the weapons that endanger these children's lives daily.

WHO said health workers need to vaccinate at least 90% of children in Gaza to stop the transmission of polio. The campaign will involve more than 2,100 health workers from U.N. agencies and the Gaza Ministry of Health, working at hundreds of sites across Gaza and with mobile teams.
The humanitarian pauses are not a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas that mediators U.S., Egypt and Qatar have long been seeking, including in talks that are ongoing this week.
Hamas is “ready to cooperate with international organizations to secure this campaign,” according to a statement from Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau.

Help Siraj care for 5 families and rebuild his life.
Summary: Siraj's current short-term goal is for buying water purifying tools to help prevent the 10 children in his family from getting Polio (which is life-threatening).
Update: Sep 6
Member: @siraj2024
Verification: #219 on the Vetted Evacuation Fundraiser spreadsheet.
Payment methods: Credit/debit, Paypal (contact @/malcriada. Details here, scroll down to 'Note' section)
Current progress:
CAD $66,375 69,084 / 70,000 (by Sep 5. Overdue!)
/ 82,000 (long term goal)
Campaign/family details:
Siraj is a journalist and struggling as the sole provider for 5 families of 23 people.
His family home was destroyed and the members were displaced 7 times.
Skin infections are common in Gaza due to people living in close proximity and high hygiene prices. Siraj's family were not spared from this, but our contributions helped improve their hygiene and provide medical care.
Sep 3 update:
This post says it better than I can, but mine is the shorter version and has some info about Polio.
Infrastructure breakdown lead to contaminated water, which poliovirus spreads through. It was found in Gaza's wastewater recently, marking the reemergence of the life-threatening disease of Polio after 25 years of absence. 2 articles: here and here
Children are primarily at risk as many are not fully vaccinated. They are either too young and/or Oct 7 interrupted the schedule.
Siraj is now responsible for 10 children and can no longer put off buying a submersible water generator and network tools to ensure that his family has access to clean water.
Note: I do not often make posts for campaigns I am not focusing on, and I won't be updating this unless told to. I encourage others to adopt this campaign (because I can't right now) and make sure it gets the traction it needs.
