i would like to hear more about house md of leaves

House MD of Leaves is my House MD/House of Leaves crossover (obviously) which I am currently planning. At the moment my thought is that it involves a lot of OCs and takes the form of the main character documenting a server he found at a garage sale with what appears to be dozens of documents about an episode of House MD that does not exist. The episode is about House treating a man who is in some sort of delirious state as the hospital itself begins to grow and change mysteriously around him, and it goes from there.

The wizard research projects! The wizard research projects have nothing to do with the plot (probably.) The wizard research projects are nerd shit that exist because I am a scientist. The wizard research projects include:

Ecological impacts of magically-mutated fauna in non-arcane biomes: magic creatures that mutated in the region leave and become invasive species outside the region?

Health outcomes from the consumption of spontaneously-mutated magical crops: your pumpkins sometimes go wacky. people are eating them anyway because what the hell. Risks?

Applied topology in sigil design for more efficient energy output: draw sigil better, maybe store more magic in it

Analysis of sustainability of spell component crystal harvesting and improvements to crystal farming: we do a lot of magic here, are we over-mining the mountains? Is that affecting underdark habitat? Can we grow usable spell crystals in a lab

Spell linguistics: combining somatic and verbal components for casters using sign language: not all casters can speak. Can techniques be refined to improve casting safety and efficiency? Implications of these techniques for Silencing/Anti-caster strategy?

It's a lot of random shit, tbh. None of these are extremely fleshed out, but they come up as I'm worldbuilding because I'm thinking through what kind of society would develop if weird powers were the norm. I have no idea if my players will ever interact with academics, but if they ever do, i will be ready with a bunch of nerds for them to talk to who are doing everything in their power to take magic apart so they can put it back together but better. Come on, people have got to be studying arcane ecology. And political science. And magical taxonomy (angry debates over whether some effect is transmutation or necromancy). Somewhere out there, there is a man-eating slime cube that a wizard keeps in a pit and studies and that wizard absolutely loves the slime cube and will tell everyone about the biology of the slime cube.

I'm trying to figure out what their rail system would look like. I'm pretty sure they've invented rail. Also what does Create and Destroy Water imply for the law of conservation of matter? Someone has looked into that, I'm sure. Whoever invented that spell probably started a lot of fights at the universities.

Also I accidentally gave myself/the Adar fandom the closest thing we might ever get to a nenya-fied Mawle!Adar I think? I didn't even intend for the color to make it look like he's got a healthier skintone. But I certainly love how this came out!

A glance is all Gil-galad needs to know that something is Not Right. Glorfindal has swapped his usual radiant armour for plain, hardwearing mail and a drab cloak, a standard guard's helmet concealing his hair in a manner that seems to defy the confines of available space. How on Arda he's managed to cram it all in-

...Eru, Gil-galad is even more exhausted than he feels if, pouring over maps and troop lists and correspondance with the dwarves in Khazad-dum and Thranduil in the Greenwood and what mortal men can be reached and reasoned with, his concern is skittering down tangents about Glorfindal's hair. "What news?" he asks and, taking in the waterskin and waybread pouch at his friend's hip, "Where do you ride?"

"The border," Glorfindal says. "News has come from the patrols that way, there is-" hope and distrust seem to war on his face. "The present unrest may have dislodged survivors from Gondolin."

...Gil-Galad stares. "What."

Glorfindal shakes his head. "I don't know. A group of strange elves, in the company of a man and his young offspring, sought entrance to Lindon using the old phrases. It is not clear, but whether that is because the report has come up to me via a chain of several tongues or because the situation itself is unclear...it is possible that a group of survivors fled Gondolin's fall to the furthest mortal settlement they could and have stayed there until the present conflict made it too dangerous to be so sundered from their king- the mortal may be a friend, or adopted kinsman, or- the patrol who met them may not have realised that the children are..."

"Peredhel," Gil-galad says quietly, as he senses the other elf's hesitation.He attempts a smile, though he fears it may be more of a grimace. "You can speak it without exacerbating my present griefs, old friend," he lies, and Glorfindel- though he is too well mannered and too loyal to argue with his king on such a point, does arch his eyebrow, which speaks his disagreement just as elequontly as any words might.

"The guards at the border sent a second report not long after their first," Glorfindal says quietly. "Of seeing a flash of gold, in a shade not seen in Lindon since the Lady Galadriel last rode out."

Gil-galad stiffens. "How would survivors from Gondolin come by a lock of Galadriel's hair?"

Glorfindal grimaces. "There are three possibilities. First, it is simple error- a trick of how the light from the Star of High Hope caught a coin, or some other token. Second, these strangers were taken from Gondolin, and held as thralls so long by the enemy that they ceased to be watched for signs of escape. They had some contact with the Lady Galadriel when she and the others were taken by Sauron, and have smuggled a token of her survival, and word of her whereabouts from whatever prison they have escaped. Third- this is some trick of the enemy's. I will go myself to find the truth of it, but do not care to trumpet my identity; if these elves do hail from Gondolin they will know me by my face; an enemy spy who knows the phrases only because his master pulled them from the mouths of those he tormented would rely on sigils and armour to see how he might play for my trust and pity."

Gil-galad nods. "Go," he says, "Ride as swiftly as you can."

"My king." Glorfindal bows and departs; Gil-galad, suddenly shaking, braces himself against the table for support. He takes a few deep breaths, and looks to the Page waiting discreetly in the corner of the room.

"Wake Lord Cirdan," he instructs. "Tell him that there is either imminent news of lost kin- or imminent news of an attack on Lindon's borders."

I had a couple of notable ones. One was the Walking With Dinosaurs Sea Monsters trilogy, one was a shark educational program, and one was the second Land Before Time movie. I feel like this says a lot about me as a person tbh

Sauron has a tray of food spread out on the bed - things that he can feed to his precious treasures with ease, though his littlest treasure often prefers merely to nibble on something and Sauron worries - he is so fragile, his little bird - he thinks he will go to that Chieftain after this and make certain he suffers more for what he has done.

He takes a plate of sweet breads filled with almond paste and fruits and holds one out to his nightingales mouth.

“You must eat my darling one - I know you try your utmost but I will not have you fading away sweet Elrond.”

Elrond, his little darling - truly he is perfect, Sauron thinks as Elrond curls in closer, resting himself against Saurons chest -he loves these moments, a respite from the cares of Middle Earth indeed.

“My Lord I will do better.”

“You need not, my darling - you are perfect but the cooks are clearly not.”
