i think some of the funniest silvergifting dynamics come down to it being a guy who's been in a hardcore 24/7 master/servant bdsm lifestyle relationship for thousands of years realizing he's deeply in love with the most truly vanilla hunk known to man. annatar is like oh please please please tie me up and make me scream and celebrimbor is like well I don't want to do that. that would be mean. where did you get that from. and annatar just has to be like uhm. nevermind that

Adar mostly just sits while Celebrimbor sketches, but he'll occassionally ask questions, because his uruk have improvised their armor and their weapons and their tools for so long, and he's not a gifted inventor like Celebrimbor is. But his questions are what is needed, because through them, the sketches begin to take an ever more concrete shape.

"What would you make them out of?" "How would they be fueled?" "Where would you have them go?" "How are you getting the supplies to build them?"

The latter is what makes Celebrimbor send a message to Khazad-Dum - a tentative one, and one that he finds answered with relief, and Narvi's promise to come and visit as soon as he is able. Celebrimbor half expected to be turned away. To not even have his message be answered.

Adar understands, when he confides in him. He and Galadriel are the only ones who understand - truly understand.

It is Adar who teaches him how to treat his new scars, and what exercises might help keep his hands flexible. His left hand is more scarred than the right one - just like in Celebrimbor's case. There are no curious, vaguely pitying stares from Adar whenever Tyelpe's marred one becomes visible, either.

Narvi is skeptical about the reformed uruk at first, until he sees him helping his friend heal. But mostly, he is just glad to see Celebrimbor alive, and healing. Is quick to reassure him that no, he does not blame him for what happened. Had never doubted his friend's intentions.

He gladly helps with the sketches - just like with the Doors of Durin, their cooperation is an easy one, ideas creating new ideas as they speak and plan, both of them inspiring the best in each other, and this is only helped by the fact that the exchanges seem to chase away some of the darkness, the heaviness, around his elven friend.

Adar continues to sit by their side, often silent. But just as he advises Celebrimbor in his healing, he soon advises Narvi - in how to treat the other, and what to look out for. Narvi wants to treat the other like glass at times, on particularly bad days. Adar reassures him that Tyelpe is made of stronger stuff than glass, or even silver.

And as Narvi sees the progress Celebrimbor makes, regaining himself and his creativity, his purpose, his joy, slowly but surely overcoming what Sauron did to him - he has to agree.

Nobody can convince me that Celebrimbor, had he lived, wouldn't have been the one to invent trains. I know, I know, dwarves, and Narvi absolutely helped but. He would have.

Celebrimbor might have his doubts about the others at first, but he never ever considers that the fallen Maia could have replaced Ereinion.

I actually use this! I call it 'sprint writing'. Not sure if I should recommend this - I know it's not feasible for everyone's schedule -, but I find this technique is most effective for me, personally, if used just before having to get out the door to get to an appointment, meet someone, or otherwise be required to spend time elsewhere/doing something else.

Why? Because then, the deadline becomes definitive. I really only have 15 minutes (or 20, or 30), and there really is no time to edit stuff. I just write, and hit save, and then I have to dash out the door without having the opportunity to overthink what I just wrote, because I have something else to focus on.

It works great as a motivator to write, and to not overthink anything, both of which are big advantages. I usually get in far more words than expected, too, and sometimes manage more difficult stretches in writing more easily.

The only downside is that I usually want to write more and well - can't. But that is what returning for the next sprint is for ;)

The 15 Minute Rule

Set a timer for 15 minutes (or however long you want) and then write. Do not stop. Don't edit or delete anything. Don't hesitate. These 15 minutes are just for you and your writing. Afterwards, you can leave the work as it is, delete it, or edit it. You can either move forward with it or move on from it. But for these 15 minutes, get it all out of your system.
