Hi!

I know I might be late to the party, but I wanted to add something in really quick. I’ve only seen gameplay videos and play-throughs on YouTube, but how I see this game, it’s like a huge emotional metaphor. I know that some, if not most of it, involves Mario and Luigi interacting with their younger selves. Partners in Time is kind of screwy with me in a way, though I’ve never played it. It gives me mixed feelings, though it has a personal value that I’ll never quite comprehend.

If I had the chance to interact with my younger self, I’d cry, give him a hug, and say “I’m sorry that other people your age were mean to you.” I was bullied severely in school, often seen as someone who never “fit in.” I was seen as “different” because I’m autistic, and for years, people thought of me as having behavioral problems or anger issues. In reality, I was just misunderstood.

I’ve just finished my first year of college and though the bullying has long subsided, it still hurts to look back sometimes. Something in me still wants closure for the treatment I’ve received, and as a Psychology major, I hope to better one’s understanding. I hope to provide a sense of comfort for autistic people, and I help myself become the person I’ve always wanted.

Seeing my long-time comfort characters interact with themselves as children — especially in such a healthy way — it’s strange to me, but beautiful at the same time. This positive self-outlook is something I wish I could have but takes time to achieve. Super Mario has been a special interest of mine for years, and seeing the brothers in these scenarios, it’s a bit of an eye-opener. I know that we can’t alter history or times that have already happened, but we can change the way we see ourselves. I believe this game is a wonderful way to start.

I found their[i cant remember their pronouns rn] blog a few months ago, and absolutely fell in love. I loved their dividers, their text posts, and all the freestyling on their blog!

On september 10th, 2024, we created a post called "Agere Backpack ideas"! The next day [Sep 11th, 24], while scrolling through a creator i also thoroughly enjoy, i saw a post they had reblogged.... It was our backpack ideas, but it wasnt written by me... in fact, it was re-uploaded by someone who i thought created interesting content. I commented under the original post to take it down as we did not consent to our work getting re-uploaded. They deleted our comment. A few days later after fd calmed me from my panic attack, we sent an ask to take down our post as we did not consent to our content being reposted. At the start of our blog, i did have "do not rewrite" on our blog, however because nothing ever happened, i took it away when we changed into the space station nursery. They deleted our ask. a week or more later [unfortunately i dont remember at this point anymore] They closed asks under the guise of "getting hate"

Current:

After everything happened, fd scoured around to create a blacklist. At this time, i had finally calmed down, and was ready to blacklist. Before we got to it tho, i saw a post created by another agere creator in which Koda had stolen from. This creator asks that all followers or people interacting report if their content was being reposted, as koda had taken one of their posts, and it got SIGNIFICANTLY more notes, as well as Koda copying their DNI banner, just changing the font and small images on the side:

This is not the only instance of this happening with Koda, and no "but they add credits" is not a viable defense here. We did not tell them they could do this, and they did not ask, by the looks of all posts, they didnt ask ANYONE to use their posts. The little credits at the bottom is also hard to see, especially by those who are visually impaired. I had an almost blind friend check out their post, and that friend couldnt even see the credits without us zooming in and circling it for the friend to see. Thats a problem. And people who see it but dont think much of it [like me] will not click the credits. I didnt. and i apologize to those whom i contributed to as apart of the problem

This is a screenshot sent to us that shows a user by the name of @/b4bybear_ , crediting their BF and CG @/SEABUNE for creating an image we all know and love, and have MOST LIKELY SEEN amongst agere intros [all blue markings have been made by me]

As you can see in the second image, the user is written on the bottom, exactly how its written on the twitter post. This image is widely available, and many many individuals use it..... However, Koda didnt seem to care

As you can see, Koda NOT ONLY traced, changed a singular item, and erased the original creators credits, they then wrote their own name on the bottom and claimed this post as their own. And no, changing one thing on an art post while still tracing everything else is not "creating your own content" or "taking inspo" This is blatant copying. This is further than just stealing text posts, they are stealing

TTDV stands for Through the Desert Vast. It's a new slate series everyone's going bee-brained over... I haven't read it yet because I prefer for a series to be finished before reading, but I've heard good things. Queer rep within the first couple chapters of the first slate-set, a non-traditional setting and cast (a rogue group living in the desert), and complex characters... needless to say I'm excited for when it finishes and I can read it!

“She’s almost here,” Dr Calhoun announced, “just a few more minutes and you’ll meet your little girl.”

“See baby? You’re doing amazing,” Kelly beamed, kissing you on the cheek.

“I didn’t think I’d be this nervous to be on the table,” you chuckled.

“And she’s out,” Dr Calhoun announced, rushing the baby to the warmer behind her.

“Why isn’t she crying? Kelly, why isn’t she crying?” You asked, a worried tone to your voice.

“Dr Calhoun? Is everything okay?” Kelly gruffly called over.

“Just clearing the mouth and nose and taking some measurements. Nothing to worry about,” she replied, “the nurses will take her final measurements and bring her over while I close your abdomen.”

You heard a loud wail come from across the room. You were both okay. 

“We’re bring her over now, Mrs Severide,” a nurse told you as she brought over your baby and set her on your chest.

“Baby, she’s beautiful,” you started to tear up.

“She gets it from her mama,” he replied, brushing back your hair and kissing your forehead.

As Dr Calhoun finished stitching you up, the team got you ready to head into post op.

The trip to your recovery room was long, but your new baby made it feel short.

Once you and Kelly were settled in your recovery room, a nurse knocked on your door.

“Mrs Severide?” the nurse asked, “two firefighters are here to see you.”

“Send them in please,” you replied.

A few moments later, Casey and Boden walked through your door.

“How’d it go?” Casey asked you.

“I’m okay. Baby is perfect” you replied, a smile stuck to your face.

“Glad to hear,” Boden smiled, “the rest of 51 will be by after shift.”

“We just figured the two of us would come by for now, keep the knuckleheads at the firehouse,” Casey laughed.

“Knock knock,” Dr Calhoun said, pushing the door back, “is now a good time?”

“We’ll leave you guys be. I’ll bring Sylvie by tomorrow,” Casey smiled.

“Thanks Matt,” Kelly replied.

“Thank you guys for coming. It’s good to know she already has 51 looking out for her,” you smiled, wiping the tears off your face.

Casey and Boden left the room, as Doctor Calhoun made her way over to your bedside.

“The surgery went well. We’ll keep you here for a few days, then you both should be good to go home,” she smiled.

“That’s great news,” Kelly smiled.

“The best thing now is establishing some skin-to-skin with both of you. I’ll leave you guys to it, but a nurse will be outside if you need anything.”

Kelly helped you unbutton the top clasps on your gown, exposing the top of your chest. Feeling your brand new baby breathe on your chest was a surreal feeling, something you’d never thought you’d get.

Doctor Calhoun left your room. Kelly leaned over your bed and kissed you.

Looking over at you with your brand new baby, Kelly said, “I guess we should name her now, huh?”

“I’ve got a few ideas,” you chuckled.

“Which are?” He smiled.

“Well, for starters, I would like it to mean and honour something. I know we’ve talked about it before, but I think her middle name should be Shay. Leslie is a big reason we’re together and if we weren’t together, this little girl wouldn’t be here.”

“Baby,” Kelly’s eyes started to fill with tears, “I love you- I don’t even know what to say.”

“So that’s a yes to the middle name?”

“Of course it’s a yes.”

“Ok so first name ideas?”

“Alexis.”

“Alexis?”

“Your sister would’ve hopped on a plane as soon as we found out you were pregnant if it weren’t for losing her at 28. If she can’t be here, we should find a way to honour her memory. Alexis would’ve loved meeting her niece.”

“Alexis Shay Severide?”

“So it’s settled?”

“It’s settled. Ready to hold your daughter?”

“Never been so ready.”

“Take your shirt off then, mister.”

Picking up Alexis and handing her over to her father, your husband. It still didn’t feel real.

“She really is so beautiful,” he smiled.

There was a knock on the door and a blonde woman with glasses poked her head around the corner. 

“We should call your mom,” Kelly reminded, “she’d want to come meet Alexis.”

“Can you FaceTime her?” 

“Of course, babe. Do you want her back?”

“Well I mean, if you’re offering,” you chuckled. 

You took Alexis back from Kelly and he grabbed his phone to call your mom.

“Hey mom, I’ve got someone who I think you’ll want to meet,” you laughed, Kelly tipping the phone down to see Alexis.

“Honey! You didn’t tell me she was arriving early! What’s her name? When was she born?” Your mom gushed. 

“That’s actually why we’re calling. We figured you’d want to come meet her in person. She was born late this morning, then we picked her name a few minutes ago. Meet your granddaughter, Alexis Shay Severide.”

“Alexis? Like your sister?” She sighed, “why would you do that?”

“We thought it would be a good way to honour the life of my sister. Is there something wrong?” You felt yourself become stressed.

hi! I've been going through your blog and I love all your analyses, we may not agree on everything but it's definitely fun to read and eye-opening and I'm grateful to see someone looking into bsd with such depth and whipping out whole essays <3

On that note. There was a fan theory I read when dead apple came out (for the life of me I cannot remember the source, if anyone knows please tell me) that Atsushi's healing ability applies only to the injuries caused by other abilities, and he can't heal from non-ability things like guns etc. The op cited the scene in ch18 where Atsushi is caught in a shooting, and healed by Yosano in the next chapter.

This theory came about because 1) in dead apple, Shibusawa says that the tiger is "the antithesis to all abilities" and "the ability everyone desires." Then we never get the reason why Shibusawa was so obsessed with Atsushi. And 2) in ch7 after sskk's first encounter where Atsushi's leg is severed, Yosano takes a look and thinks "there's no scar, it's more of a restoration than a regeneration."

The gist of this is that I like the idea of Atsushi not being 100% invulnerable. And, if his is indeed the antithesis to all abilities then I'm excited to see what that entails; it implies that in the face of a time travel ability, he would be able to turn back time (if he knew how to use it ofc, cough Fukuchi fight cough). If the book is tied to an ability, Atsushi may be able to undo changes done by the book? he may also nullify Dazai's nullification? idk this opens many doors. Anyway! this is my fave bsd theory. I think, with how Akutagwa's ability sort of completes Atsushi's, and with the whole Rashomon being able to eat space, maybe with this development it will also "eat" a portion of the timeline, as in, undoing the events that occurred? is this making any sense? sorry for the rant I'd love to hear what u think, thanks <3

Hi!! Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot!!! Could this be the post you were looking for? Funny enough, it was at the very top of my reblogs queue. Indeed, it's an extremely insightful theory!!!

So, there's a lot to unpack here. Ever since I've read that theory, I've found Yosano's thoughts regarding Atsushi's healing from chapter 7 extremely interesting. It's curious, because the nuance gets completely lost in the official English translation:

(Raws → fantranslation → official Yen Press English translation). As you can see, the meaning gets totally lost in the last one. It almost makes me wonder if it was an intentional change due to the fact that the plot point won't be brought up in the manga in ten years (much like opting out of adapting the Steinbeck Guild uprising in the anime, since that plot point has been apparently discarded), but I hope that's not the case.

All taken into account, I don't think it's a stretch to say Atsushi's ability, due to his quality of denying other abilities, can only quickly regenerate as far as other abilities wounds go. When I was reading the manga I thought it was only plot convenience and suspension of disbelief, but taking a closer look perhaps the pattern of wounds not caused by abilities taking longer to heal isn't coincidental: it already happened with the wounds he suffered from in the orphanage, which ended up leaving scars (chapter 28), with the Guild's attack, which was of unknown nature but required Yosano's help to heal (chapter 18-19), with Twain's sniper attacks, which as the theory's Op point don't seem to have healed immediately (chapter 29). But in my opinion it's still too little instances to be able to affirm with certainty that it's not just coincidences dictated by plot convenience.

I do have a feeling there must be Something to Atsushi's ability. it can't just be tiger transformation and wounds regeneration. He's the protagonist, and leaving it at that, that's about the lamest ability of them all (sorry!! I love him still!!). I like the idea of Atsushi's ability being truly special, carrying qualities that have yet to be unfolded that make it different and somehow above the other abilities. I really think it'd be the most satisfying progression narrative wise, because so far Atsushi has gotten really little to claim for his protagonist role, being constantly overshadowed by Dazai; but he's the main character still, and it's like the story itself is waiting to reveal what makes him special. And there being something special to his ability has been, though subtly, consistently underlined: the extraordinary bounty on his head that nothing about what we know seems to explain, the fact that the Guild wanted to capture him specifically, the no further elaborated on fact that he's the key to finding the Book, Shibusawa's concern with him and, most importantly, the ability's quality of tearing through other abilities. Like, that feels very relevant; it's different from Dazai's nullification ability in the way it doesn't just temporarily nullify the other ability, but straight up denies it. I feel like in a manga that is so littered with meta commentary on literature, it'd be fitting to have an ability that denies other abilities' very existence, like moving an eraser through the page. It's certainly interesting to think about. And I like the concept of Atsushi's ability as an alternative to Dazai's nullification ability. Dazai has been feeling invulnerable so long, it would be gratifying to contemplate the existence of something that's outside of his sphere of influence, and potentially even more powerful and destructive than he is.

Again, there's already so many elements that make it impossible to ignore the uniqueness of Atsushi's ability; but even then, they're still so sparse and obscure it's really hard to take a guess on what it could really be about, or what is the reason why it's special. There's so much space for speculations - a connection with the book, a singularity, a God-like ability just to name a few -, but in my opinion none of them have any concrete enough canon basis to leave space for theories. I think I'd rather limit myself to say it would make a lot of sense for it to be an ability superior to other abilities, since it's something that has the power to tear through abilities themselves, and I believe that such quality is also coherent with its link to the Book as another ability-originated, extremely powerful object. The ability's power to rewrite reality, if only to a smaller extent compared to the Book, may further hint to its connection to the Book / being originated from the Book / sharing origins with the Book. When the ability immediately helps Atsushi regenerate from ability induced wounds he is lowkey rewriting the story to portray a reality where Atsushi wasn't hurt, and when he tears abilities apart it is lowkey rewriting a story where the ability didn't exist. In that, I believe it wouldn't be too far-fetched to draw similarities with the way the Book works. This also made me realize that where it's confirmed that the Book's altered reality to the point of changing the ada's memories so they remembered committing the terrorism crimes, I'm pretty sure that we never got the confirmation the same happened to Atsushi. Then, what if the book can't have effect on Atsushi due to his ability, but only on the reality surrounding him.

So yeah. I'm curious to see how this will unwrap, although I have my doubts I'll still be around when it does (man, the manga is going to take another six months just to catch up with the last anime episode, so you know). I really really like the concept of Atsushi's ability developing in a way that will make it more functional in a rematch against Fukuchi. I've been advocating for a sskk vs. Fukuchi rematch for years at this point, and it seems like we will indeed be getting it; and sskk BETTER win it this time, it wouldn't make any narrative sense to be otherwise. But to do that they'll have to overcome their biggest disadvantage that is Shintou Amenogozen's time manipulation, so you know!! Looking forward to see a sskk that is now mature and experienced unveil new skills to their abilities.

Anywho, I think we should encourage more people to make COD OCs because it is so fun to see how people would interpret how their OC would react with the in game characters. I feel like most people do not one to do it due to the stigma associated with it and self inserts but OCs can be so fun

For example, I want to know more about Stray and learn everything I can but that may just be my Autism and my hyperfixation on talking about OCs I find interesting. I remember reading the post you had done for her after you reblogged it and it made me want to redo the biographies I had done for my two major COD OCs as I just loved it

We also need more trends for OCs. When I get round to posting about mine I want to try and make a trend where other creators can post ideas about skins their OC or self insert would have if they were in multiplayer since I myself love thinking of outfit designs as they can show so much of the OC's personality. Or a trend where we get to see OC voice lines if they were in the games and voice lines of them talking to other characters as I love when OCs have beef with the in game characters as it is just so fun

Since imagine if Stray and König had a matching skin set similar to how König and Horangi have a matching skin set

Yes yes!! I'd absolutely love to see more people creating their COD ocs, I have quite a lot of fun creating mine. OCs are definitely a lot of fun, you're basically creating a character from scratch AND you get the choice to make them look and act the way you want, as well as giving them any backgrounds and relationships you could possibly want!!

You can ask me anything about Stray!! I absolutely adore talking about my OCs, that also includes K-9, though I haven't made an official Military Personnel Profile for her yet!

AHHH yesyes!! Especially the skins would be interesting to see since the military has quite a lot of regulations, but I adore seeing characters in more casual clothes and what they'd dress like normally, little details such as masks and even weapon attachments could give them so much charisma.

Funny thing about the voice lines thing!! I was actually planning on making that for Stray since I have a professional microphone, but I got kinda lazy on creating voice lines to do the VA work HBJEFBHJ

What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it? As it is used by both the German and British military, her weapon of choice is the AWM sniper, as it has a pretty precise and effective firing range. Although with the 141 she doesn't get the chance to be a sniper much and has become more hands-on, she used to work with the AWM quite a lot back in the German military and after being recruited as a KorTac member.

was thinkinf about this yesterday and i think ive cracked the idea of taka having tumblr, im an absolute genius and you will hear me out Okay

basically hes like a gimmick tumblr account that got famous for posting specific stuff and being Odd about it

the things he posts are like 5000 word posts just talking about his day in excruciating detail, talking about his studies and whatnot. it feels *weird* reading it bcuz hes describing oddly specific things like what he uses to clean his boots or whatever but its still Somewhat normal-ish.

he gets asks and replies to them with some unrelated tangent, some people ask him if hes autistic and hes like That is a very interesting question, I have actually done research in my spare time, because alot of my acquaintances are on the "Spectrum", and one of them, who thinks hes some 'Overlord of Ice', threw his pet hamsters at me and they scratched me on the face, and I had to go to the nurse in case he did not vaccinate them, I did not want to get rabies potentially, and-

basically letting his thoughts out without needing to sound like hes lecturing someone, he treats his blog like a diary and barely even realizes just how much attention he gets bcuz he logs in to post and then logs out

Occasionally, however, he will post something like "I cannot do this anymore I hate my life" and right after that he will post again "Apologies for the previous post, I was unmedicated, I am okay now. Anyway," and start talking about his studies again or whatever. and the funniest part is that he will not delete any sudden episode posts like that. he knows he can delete posts, but he doesnt think its worth hiding anything, which is why if he makes One grammar mistake in the 4 pages essay long posts, he will just reblog it correcting the ONE error like "*you're. I misspelled, sorry." and you are left to go look for that mistake he made in the first place

he will occasionally turn his posts into vents or nonsensical rambles like "I was reading a book about self-care recently, it was very informing. One of the chapters said 'It's important to have people in your life to support you'. Why does no one love me? Who should I rely on for support? What is wrong with me?" and people will reblog it like OP are you alright you can talk to us:( and he'll be like I'm perfectly okay dont ask me questions please (<-about to have another episode)

More Half-and-Half-A-Miracle Thoughts

Part 1: Miracle Power Ranking

I was originally going to add some comments as a reblog to @nofomogirl's post on why the 25 Lazurii miracle was so powerful, but the initial thought I had on the matter slipped away from me during that day, and I was left looking at a glimpse at the viridian green back panel of Aziraphale's waistcoat and wondering what had sparked my original thought, and any attempt to try and grasp it again was a futile as Muriel trying to open Gabriel's file in Heaven.

So I wandered off on other tangents, explored other topics I was curious about, and enjoyed reading the new posts that went up, but the ghost of that viridian green panel kept lurking about with a sharp stick to remind me it was there. So I'm here to post some more thoughts in addition to the op's post that I feel might add to the discussion about the little miracle that worked too well.

I also want to say before I get stuck in (and warning - this is going to be a long one!) that I think no matter how much we discuss this or dig at it, ultimately we just don't have enough information to have a definitive answer as to the why at the moment, and, we may never know. But I'm going to speak because I think I there is at least one thing I haven't seen discussed yet in context with this scene, and should be (at least, I haven't seen it yet - if you have, please let me know.)

So if you're in a TL:DR mode and don't want to open links, here is the list of current theories of why two little "half miracles" made one mighty one:

Theory#1: It's love

Theory #2: It's them

Theory#3: It's a fusion

Theory #4: It's Gabriel

Theory #5: It's the portal (that they did it on top of)

To preface my answering ramble the TL:DR again is - its a fusion of "them" i.e. both #2 and #3 together. As in Aziraphale x Gabriel x Crowley. 3x3x3

Hang on, that's 27! Not 25! yeah, yeah, I'm not that bad at math. And I'll admit it doesn't fit - it doesn't "snap" into place. But its either that or 5x5 and I wanted to consider all three elements in this miracle working together for the discussion at the start. And there seems to an emphasis on 3's as well as 7's (Maybe you can cut the middle out at the end, once you can see the bigger picture I'm trying to present, but lets leave it this way for now. Maybe it will give you another idea...)

Firstly, consider the three elements, working in synergy. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. As Crowley describes it in S2E6: " Apparently, if we do a miracle together, it all works a bit too well." (I was originally thinking of the word "gestalt" but on reflection its probably not the right one.)

"...if we..."

Let's ask who is "we" at this point, and how much miracle power they are contributing to the miracle. Are they contributing equally? Yes? Or no? I want to take a closer look at miracle power: the knowns, the unknowns and the possibilities to explore that.

We've already been told that most day-to-day miracles are down in the mili-Lazurii level, a mere few thousandth of the power of the hiding miracle. And this makes sense - we don't see our protagonists bringing the dead back to life willy-nilly. Aziraphale mentions getting into trouble for doing "too many frivolous miracles." But if its one thing Good Omens stands out for its the conspicuous lack of displays of stupendous power. And this actually doesn't help our understanding of the problem.

Indulge me in a "ranking of power" exercise, if you will.

At the top we have the big three - no, four - er, lets make that five actually! Five ineffably, unarguably, omnipotent entities that every one respects and no one will mess with. They can essentially do what ever they will.

God, and Her (ex-) bestie, Satan.

Azrael, the angel of Death.

Adam Young, the Antichrist, who has retained his powers and is still protecting Tadfield.

And lastly the yet-to be revealed second coming of Jesus Christ.

Lets put them all aside and out of the equation.

Next, we have the Metatron, whom we haven't seen lift a finger, only his voice, yet the mere sight of his face evokes fear. How much miracle power can he wield? That's a big unknown, unfortunately. But being the current right-hand being of the Almighty must give him some serious grunt.

The top brass of the respective bureaucracies starts to raise questions. We have our senior Archangels (the seraphim) and the Dukes of Hell. I have no doubt that Gabriel, as Supreme Archangel of all Heaven, should be capable of performing at least a 1 Lazurii miracle on his own if required, and he could even have the potential to stretch to 25 Lazurii...if he could be bothered.

We know that they can be promoted in an out of those positions, and that raises questions about what happens to their powers when they get promoted or demoted. To gain power when promoted? Or lose it when demoted? Or is it a simply a matter of belief? In which case it might rely on the individual's personality.

When looking for examples of expressed power, in both the book and tv series, it is easier to come up with examples of demonic miracles than angelic miracles, and it makes things look a bit biased, imo. I mean, Crowley aside for the moment (I'll get back to him shortly) you have to be impressed with Hastur's escape from the ansaphone into the call center and manifesting into the mass of maggots, for all he was a bit old fashioned and smelled like poo. Shax playing games with Crowley just outside the shop in S2, manifesting as different characters in rapid succession has to be up there with another good demo of demon power (which it certainly worked to needle Crowley into losing his temper with them.)

What do we see the Archangels do in comparison? Hmm. Bitch and snitch. Gossip with Hell on the back stairs. Pretend to be buying pornography from Aziraphale. Then physically punch our angel in guts for fraternizing with a demon before disappearing back to Heaven . Not much.

OK, so Gabriel arrives on a lightning bolt at Tadfield airbase

and there is that intriguing discussion with Sandalphon regarding Sodom and Gomorrah (just read above the cut, that's the important bit for this meta later on) where he was doing quite a bit of smiting, but its all off screen and in the distant past, we don't actually see them in action.

Which brings us back to Crowley and Aziraphale. And then more Aziraphale manipulating Crowley into performing miracles for him so he doesn't have to (the little minx.) The list of miracles I can think of that we have seen Crowley do is far longer and seems more impressive than what Aziraphale has done. Oh, but there is the Eldritch Ball, you say? Controlling multiple people at once? (Hold that thought.) He also sent the soldier at the entry gate of the Tadfield airbase all the way back to his home in the USA in an instant (according to the book) and he flew the moped with both Madame Tracey and Shadwell over the top of the Odegra ring of demon fire to get to Tadfield (again, as mentioned in the book.) And as the op back here says, why didn't they just manifest themselves out? Idiots...

On to Part 2: The Dark Side of Aziraphale.

One of the many things I love about creating content and interacting with other content in this online niche (tumblr gaylor/kaylor space specifically) is because we are all openly discussing the many possibilities of how to interpret the details of certain songs and Easter eggs etc. We are all sure or damn near sure Taylor is absolutely sapphic, but on just about every other point we engage in thought experiments, literary exercises, etc, to explore many different theories. Most of us don’t insist that our viewpoint is the correct one, even if we have theories we are convinced of, there is no moral judgement or social waylaying of someone being convinced of a different theory. Because we are all self aware enough to understand that none of us really know. We just know that something gay is going on and that sifting through the primary sources is endlessly fascinating and eye-opening and simply beautiful to witness.

(I get the impression this is not the way it is on other platforms for gaylor content, which is why I don’t even bother with them.)

The fact that anyone would be surprised by a number of individuals holding a couple of ideas or opinions in common, while also tolerating and even relishing in variations in the finer details of those convictions, is such an indictment of modern (mostly online) discourse in general. We are so used to seeing people as belonging to distinct factions that each encourage strict in-group intellectual compliance instead of critical thought and genuine engagement with the set of ideas they espouse.

As a slightly older gaylor/kaylor please let me have an “elder” moment and heed you all to recognize the value in the way this little tiny niche community interacts with each other and take this model of civil and thoughtful engagement into your wider lives wherever possible.

It’s so important and wonderful to have strong values and a strong point of view, but you can only form one by engaging with all kinds of people and perspectives. You can entertain a thought or an idea without believing in it, and in fact doing so will make your own opinion that much more well-informed and strengthen your arguments when the disagreement really does matter.

A big part of what makes that engagement fun is hearing what other people think about this or that song or outfit, and reading long essays arguing for one thing, but also seeing that that op likes and reblogs essays arguing something completely different for the same song! Not only does it speak to the layers in Taylor’s writing, but it also makes no damn difference which exact person any one song is about. Harley and Shuri take the next logical step:

Building a potato gun out of vibranium.

This is my entry for the @black-characters-matter-fest prompt #73. You can read it as Harley/Shuri but it’s more Gen.

Harley figured that it was the next logical step. Between the war, enemies turned allies and weapon upgrades, Shuri needed a project that wasn’t too taxing and actually sounded fun. So she agreed with his assessment. Peter was unfortunately unable to make it, but they had promised to do it again with him.

For now, her attention was on the prototype in front of her.

“Why a potato gun though?” Shuri asked Harley as he loaded up the schematics of the previous potato gun from his tablet to the holo-screen.

“I was ten and needed something to protect me and my sister from intruders. A real gun was out of the question and on of our neighbours had just planted a potato garden,” The boy shrugged, and Shuri shook her head.

“So now you want to make it better?”

“Just imagine if it could different vegetables. Or if it could shoot further.”

“Increase the power and velocity of the projectiles and you turn a simple potato gun into a weapon. We’d also have to account for the size difference of the vegetables,” Shuri said, already drawing up plans. Making a potato gun out of vibranium sounded like the stupidest idea that she ever had but she was tempted.

“Try these,” Harley slid over the digital schematics of an unfinished potato gun.

“Mark 15? Why do you have so many versions?” Shuri asked, taking a look at what she was sent. If she overlaid her plans with the ones in front of her, they would have the gun ready by the end of the day.

“Why not? Things can always be made better.”

“That’s what I said, but my brother doesn’t understand the need for upgrading,” Shuri rolled her eyes.

“No offence to the king, but I saw his shoes. Technological upgrades are the least of his worries,” Harley stage whispered. One of the Dora Milaje smiled for a brief second before schooling her face.

Shuri burst out laughing, thinking of the ‘What are those’ moment she had a few years back. It was a while ago and still her brother’s fashion sense hadn’t improved.

“No offense taken. I’ve also been trying to get him to change he shoes,” she said, catching her breath. Then she pointed at the screen, “Is the overlay good? I thought that we can use vibranium for the outer shell and pistons, then keep the rest a light metal. So –”

“– that it stays lightweight and we can make easy changes without wasting material,” Harley finished, nodding with an impressed look on his face. “This looks really good.”

“Well, anything made with vibranium usually does,” Shuri shrugged.

“Can’t argue that. I saw Bucky Barnes’ arm.”

“That was mostly my brother.”

“Ah, so the whole family is full of geniuses,” Harley joked. “Unfortunately, only the women have a good fashion sense.”

Shuri snorted again before turning back to the computer. They both worked on editing a few sections before they started with the fabrication process. It took them five hours to complete the entire potato gun, both the fabrication and assembly.

“That’s a beautiful gun,” Harley whistled, and Shuri nodded in agreement.

“Please tell me I’m not late,” Peter’s voice echoed through the lab as he made his way down the ramp.

“You missed all the science bits,” Harley shouted back. They hugged before Peter made his way over to hug Shuri. She could see that he was slightly out of breath, meaning he ran the whole way from the hangar to her lab.

“We still have to test it though,” Shuri offered.

“For science, right? We’re testing various vegetables for science,” Peter confirmed, a slightly mischievous glint in his eye.

Harley clapped him on the shoulder and turned to look at the Mark XIIV potato gun on the table, “Of course it’s for science.”

Geralt wasn’t actually paying attention to the motorcycles as they parked outside the shopping centre. It wasn’t until Cirilla pulled his arm and pointed to them. He looked on in vague interest, scanning them as they all got off their bikes one at a time. Like dominos.

Until his eyes landed on the last person. There was nothing inherently special about the person, except for how out of place they looked. Everyone else was laughing and hanging off each other but that person – that man, Geralt discovered when he removed his helmet – was quiet and looked detached from the group.

Geralt was actually surprised to find that he was the leader, as all the men and women waited until he had passed before following him into the store. Not to mention, that while everyone else had embellishments and spots of colour on their bikes and clothes, the man’s clothes were a plain maroon leather and an equally plain black bike.

Right as he passed Geralt, their eyes met. It wasn’t anything special, but Geralt still felt a tingle down his spine at being noticed.

They held each other’s gaze until the man was gone into the store.

“Do you think they’re bad news?” Ciri asked, snapping Geralt out of what ever daze he had been in.

“Probably not, just because they look bad doesn’t mean that they are,” Geralt answered, placing the rest of their shopping bags into the car.

“I hope that they are, then something will finally happen in this town,” she muttered stepping away from where she was leaning against the trunk. “Maybe they’ll even let me join them. Do you think I’ll look good in a leather jacket?”

“Over my dead, burnt body, Ciri,” Geralt shut that idea down. He knew that once she got too excited about it, he’ll end up spending half his pay check on leather jackets and the other half on a motorcycle. And he was already busy paying for the fencing lessons she took interest in a few months prior.

“No need to take it that far,” she huffed.

Geralt rolled his eyes, “just get into the car.”

Ciri pouted but did as she was told. Her being gone gave Geralt a few minutes to process what had happened earlier. Geralt never stared, not if he didn’t have to, but there was something about that man.

Suddenly Geralt found himself wanting to know more about the mysterious biker leader.

OP I think you accidentally singlehandedly summoned most of the DP fans with your two posts, which is both amazing yet also understandably overwhelming. How are you taking this? What's your favorite fic that you've read so far?

Thank you for asking! I've been kind of overwhelmed, but in a good way? I have never had a post take off like that before. This is like the most crazy supportive fandom I've ever seen.

And I have read so many dang fics it's hard to choose one. My very favorites tend to be small semi-demi-hemi AUs where someone just puts a little one-page wild idea out there, like "What if a ghost thought Tucker was Phantom?" or "What if there was a ghost alien?" People get crazy creative with those.

My favorite longer fic I've read so far is the "Something's Wrong With Danny Fenton" series, because I'm in love with horror stories and I think it's adorable when the kids all have cute teen crushes on each other.

(Before anyone asks, I have A Snapping Sound, Phantom of Truth, and Mortified on my to-read list but I haven't read them yet. I, uh...I'm slightly terrified by the size of some of these.)

My favorite fic/comic series is @artistfingers's Undercover Phantom AU! That's actually kind of what started my Phandom deep dive. Well, that and @the-stove-is-on-fire's Danny Phantom/Spiderman/Deadpool comics. They just kept on popping up on my dash over and over until I was like "okay, interest reawakened, my next thing is Danny Phantom now I guess"

My #1 post of 2022

Okay so it turns out that Danny Phantom was the worst possible old show to get a sudden and inexplicable hyperfixation on, because apparently the fandom's been going full tilt since 2004.

Usually when I get a hyperfixation outta nowhere for a completed series, I spend a week, maybe two going through old fanfiction and fanart, and then I burn through what's left, and then I'm done.

Danny Phantom has a pile of fanfiction and fanart that's been growing steadily since, and I cannot emphasize this enough, 2004, and there are still people putting out multiple things every single day. I'm already like 20 AUs in and I've been up till 2:00am every single night this week because I've found a new enormous fascinating fanfic that was so good I could not physically make myself sleep until I finished it.

Okay wait so recently I reblogged a post about sympathizing with villains instead of the heroes who are only fighting to maintain the status quo and like,,,,, it’s been on my mind and I’m wondering if it’s a) what was once a method of creating a nuanced antagonist has pervaded media so much that it seems like a worn-out trope sometimes or b) the heroes are purposefully characterized as Status Quo Maintainers to influence people into believing that maintaining the status quo is, in fact, a noble goal?  The first one is just the effects of a creative trend (ex. remember YA dystopias and how Suzanne Collins made a really cool one and then everyone tried to publish a dystopia and they were all just stripped down versions of THG so they didn’t have the same impact?  yea, like that) while the second one seems a lot more sinister.. more propaganda-y.  I’m not at all a media studies anthropologist (I’m not any sort of social anthropologist, really), so I don’t even know how to go about figuring out the underpinnings of the sympathetic-villain-tries-to-make-things-better-but-we-are-meant-to-root-for-the-hero-who-takes-a-less-radical-ever-so-slightly-changed-stance-by-the-end thing.

I’m not big on new year’s resolutions because I believe a person can start something new at any time but! this year!  I am going to finish listening through the Upstate discography, the Hozier discography, the Florence and The Machine discography, the Lord Huron discography, The Amazing Devil discography, and the aeseaes discography.  I am going to take my two academic classes and try really hard to stay on top of them, as I really want to get better at effective time management.  

I’ve been in my apartment alone for a few days and have decided that this was how it was meant to be.  Instead of me living with other people who I rarely if ever see, skip the middle man and cut out the other people altogether.  Let me live alone in peace PLEASE.  I love this.  Maybe one downside is that I can’t peer pressure myself into washing an drying dishes immediately after using them.  This is a notable problem that I do not know how to resolve as of yet.  I cannot simply wait for inspiration to strike, that’s not how this works.

Anyway I needed to consult r/ApplyingToCollege for my sister and I’ve been going down a rabbit hole of bad takes from high schoolers (and this doesn’t count as a grad school admissions forum so I’m still stickinwidit) and there’s one post where a person wrote their harvard essays in six hours and someone responded “did you at least get them reviewed” and OP goes “reviewed?? my brother in christ i barely had time to proofread” and that hit me so hard bc SAME (but also the two people I sent my base personal statement to for an initial review ~never got back to me~).

Lastly... how am I expected to work in these conditions.  I had to teach Hardy-Weinberg last week (it’s not that I don’t know HWE, it’s just that I expected them to have some background).  AND THE LAB THE PROF DEVELOPED WAS WRONG IN PLACES.  STRAIGHTUP INCORRECT.  HE’S A LITERAL BIOLOGIST LIKE HUH ????  I had to teach HWE to people who haven’t taken bio in years (also had to lie about what the “equilibrium” in HWE is... bc it sure ain’t recessive and dominant alleles being equal in a population!! (granted, I did take two evolution classes last semester, so my residual knowledge is a little heightened, but still)), I had to lie about what a codon was...  Man I love this job but also maybe doing it for the first time in the winter was a bad idea.  It’s like... I’m just discovering the curse of knowledge and how hard it makes it to engage with a large group of people at an introductory level.  But instead of having a week between labs to improve, I have as short as an hour or as long as a day to figure it out.  There’s absolutely a difference between knowing your stuff and being able to convey your stuff to people who don’t yet know it.  And I thought I would be good at it because I had ~one~ positive experience doing so last spring, but I suppose that’s a poor sample size (sue me, I ain’t taken stats yet).

Today I’m thankful that my hair has actually grown out really really well :)  I’ve just finished putting in 18″ braids (usually I go for 24″ these days, but I wanted something more conservative for interviews (unfortunately I’m putting these in so early that I may have to completely redo them if I have any interview offers in February)), and in some places my blow-dried hair actually reaches the end of the braiding hair, and this is after I had to cut off an inch and a half of scraggly ends.  This does, however, mean that I won’t be able to do major cutting during takedown, so that process will take forever.  I’ve been growing it out for six years now, I think, and while I could definitely do a better job in some areas, it’s very full (every time I wear it natural or in a twistout somebody comments on it) and oh so versatile, and I’m thankful that I’ve actually learned how to take care of my own hair over the past eight years.  Especially protective styling.  Even if I wanna cut it off sometimes, I really am happy with my natural hair.
