Being in a QPR with ACD!Sherlock Holmes would include

Headcanons for the original book Sherlock Holmes and reader being in a QPR (so the setting is the 19th century)

You are a teacher at a girls' boarding school when one day another teacher is murdered and Sherlock is hired to solve the case

You try to help as best you can and he quickly realises how smart you are

(Watson also thinks you are attractive but you shut him down very quickly, expressing that you have no interest in romance of any kind)

this earns you respect from Sherlock

Since his knowledge of the world is sometimes rather specific (he doesn’t know the earth moves around the sun?!), whenever a case requires knowledge he and Watson don't have he sends you a letter to consult you

You basically become pen pals

As a woman in the 19th century you are very limited but also very dedicated to give your girls a good education

so whenever you need to do a science experiment, want to test out a theory or need lab equipment and your school won’t help you you write to Sherlock

So in your free time, you can often be found working on some experiment at 221B Baker Street

Sometimes you also assist Sherlock with his experiments when you are free and Watson is annoyed

Accompanying them on cases every now and then

You are smart but also good with people which makes questioning suspects a lot easier

Soon you are a regular guest in 221B

Mrs Hutson loves you

Comforting Sherlock when he couldn’t solve a case, or someone he should protect dies

This is also when you first hug

Watson sent you a letter that they had a bad case, Sherlock couldn’t solve it and the client died. Since then he has been inconsolable. He plays sad music on his violin all the time and takes drugs and Watson is getting scared for him.

When you arrive he is standing at the window playing the violin

You march over to him, take the violin out of his hand and pull him into a hug

He is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED. Completely freezes, every muscle tensing up

You don’t care and keep hugging him, so he slowly settles into the hug

He buries his face into your shoulder and lets out a heavy sigh

You stand like this for a long time

When you finally let go you make tea and talk about the case

Since then hugs have become a regular thing for the two of you

much to the surprise of Dr. Watson

The doctor doesn’t understand your relationship at the beginning

he keeps nagging Sherlock and sometimes even you about a potential romantic relationship, and asks all the time if and when you are gonna marry

After you and Sherlock have explained to him a thousand times that you don’t have romantic feelings of any kind towards each other and that your relationship is not like that he finally accepts it

even tho you are not sure he fully understands he sees that your relationship is rather like his friendship with Sherlock

When Dr. Watson marries, Sherlock asks you to move in after a while

This is seen as quite scandalous -an unmarried man and woman living together- and nearly costs you your job but you manage

Now that Watson is occupied more often you are a more frequent companion on cases

You also have more time to work on scientific projects together since living together

sometimes when one of you is feeling especially down long hugs turn into cuddling

You sit on the sofa together and just hold each other in your arms

You always make sure that Sherlock takes care of himself

You bring him food when he is absorbed into a case and refuses to eat. When he refuses to take even a small bite you will go on a rant on how his body and mind will break down if he continues to starve himself

This usually has no effect so you just start shoving food in his face until he eats it

Reading Horror and murder mysteries together and laughing about the stupid murderers

When you both retire you move to Sussex together

He tends to his bees and you take up gardening

I think that, perhaps, I don’t exactly view Holmes and Watson in any sort of romantic relationship, but instead a close queer friendship. They do not have a romantic interest in one another, yet they’ll comfortably sleep in the same bed or be physically affectionate and cuddle with one another. They are each other���s worlds, though only platonically. Watson is able to love his wife while also holding a tender affection for Holmes, his best friend. (and vise versa… minus the wife for Holmes). They feel comfortable around one another to be ‘non-conforming’ in heterosexual terms, yet they would never persue anything further. Instead they find comfort in the fact only the other can understand their own affections, and just how much it means to them both.

Idk tho maybe that’s just me projecting my own experience in my own close friendships with same sex friends as an unlabeled queer person

after that, herlock began to get the papers ready for an adoption. for a few weeks, he didn't mention anything, before he suddenly presented them to you during dinner

herlock tried to play it off as a joke, in case the two of you didn't want to become his family. but neither you nor iris hesitated to sign those papers!

herlock still treats the two of you very casually most of the time. he's not physically affectionate, so he'll only hug you if you initiate it

however, he does talk very proudly about his kids to his friends and coworkers!

and he also likes to joke that women seem more interested in him, now that he's a single dad…

Hey Anon! Thanks for the ask! Sorry, my fic requests aren't open right now. I do quite like this idea though! So I'll drop some thoughts.

I don't see a lot of queerplatonic relationships in fanfics so it's absolutely something I'd tackle but unfortunately, I don't have the energy right now for a full piece. But I like your tastes.

Imagining that you two would have the same living situation as John and Sherlock already too, either moving in with Sherlock after John gets married or staying with the boys

John is fine with this, of course. It makes sense for Sherlock. He stops pestering the detective about relationships and realizes that conventionality just isn't for him.

He's just glad you two have each other to build off of and grow with. It's a relationship completely based on mutual understanding and respect. Something he admires, really.

You help him open up more. It was decided that the relationship would not work if there was no communication or room for discussion. Whenever there's a problem, you talk it out.

Now, Sherlock always comes to you if there's something outside of cases that's boggling his mind. And the other way around, he learns to be a better listener.

Sherlock does his best to be more careful and text you more frequently from now on because he knows how much it worries you when he suddenly goes MIA without a peep

You introduce him to texting etiquette. Rather than the cold, curt bubbles of speech you usually get, he actually starts small talk and uses fewer full stops. And of course, no need to sign his texts anymore.

It's a small thing, but you start to feel a little more warmth from Sherlock Holmes through his texts.

("It's raining mad out here. I'll be a bit late.")

On long nights at the Yard, sometimes Sherlock comes home and just takes his scarf off and leaves it on the floor, makes a straight line towards you working on the couch and puts his weight on you, exhausted

He isn't really comfortable with cuddling yet, but being next to you comforts him and it helps him sleep

So you do your own thing, leaning back into the couch and making room for him to lean into your side, his head on your shoulder, and his hand holding the cuffs of your shirt.

You'll chuckle a little, rubbing soothing circles into his shoulder through his coat, and ask, "Long day?"

Sherlock would groan and sigh in your shoulder, shifting a little closer before muttering, "Missed you."

You'd smile at this and squeeze his arm. "Missed you too." Then go right back to your work. The two of you minding your own business yet still being close. What you have is comfortable.

Any headcanons on domestic stuff with Sherlock and John, during any point in the series or post canon?

Omg, so many!!

John and Sherlock go to Angelo's for dinner after closing a big case. They make it a point to go at least once a month, and Angelo always gets them a candle. John has learned to stop protesting it. They pick this tradition back up after Sherlock comes back, and then again after John & Rosie move back in.

John falls asleep in his chair sometimes, often while Sherlock is playing his violin. Sherlock always places the blanket from the back of the chair over John.

Sherlock likes to stretch out on the sofa, he claims "to think" (rather like in A Study in Pink). However, he often falls asleep like that, and John always drapes a blanket over him when he does.

When there's no need to go out, or no one due over, Sherlock likes to stay in his pyjamas as long as he possibly can (always with a dressing gown on). Because his pyjamas are so comfy and are for bed, they make Sherlock feel sleepy when he's sat around in them. John looses track of the number of times Sherlock falls asleep in his chair or on the sofa next to John in the afternoons.

When John makes himself tea, he always makes one for Sherlock too, and sets out a plate of biscuits. Sherlock always has biscuits with his tea. Even during a case.

Since Baskerville, John has started taking sugar in his coffee (just a little bit). However, he always watches Sherlock when his friend makes it for them. It's a standing joke between them.

Sometimes, Sherlock finds John sat with his coat on John's lap, or finds John asleep in the living room using the coat as a blanket. This is a remnant of how John coped when Sherlock was dead, and was missing him. Sherlock never says anything about it.

Sometimes after a case, John is too tired to go up another flight of stairs to his room, and Sherlock has a very comfy bed. So they share.

Sherlock sometimes steals John's cardigans and wears them around the flat. John retaliates by stealing Sherlock's dressing gowns. Mrs Hudson has witnessed this many times, and always finds it hilarious.

Sherlock delights in being with Rosie. When John and Rosie move in with him, Sherlock dedicates hours to playing with her, reading to her and feeding her. He loves to take her to nursery/school, and always comes up with outings for them all to go on. Sherlock misses her when she's not in the flat.

Sherlock always insists on carrying baby/toddler Rosie when they go somewhere. Rosie always wants Sherlock to pick her up and carry her, even as she gets older. She also likes to sit on Sherlock's lap. John often finds them curled up together in random places in the flat, Rosie on Sherlock's lap and nestled into him.

I am really glad all of the Holmes stories being in the public domain is giving a chance for folks who read the Canon a LOT to share how human Holmes was. His concern for women, his presence for Justice over the Law.

I will say, as someone for whom Holmes was a lifesaver when I was an elementary schooler, that I always though to Holmes and Watson as platonic. And now, with my adult vocabulary, I guess I’ve always thought of him as ace/aro. Not yucking anyone’s yum, just that I really value platonic love and the ability of any main character to just Not Do Romance.

watson: bi but still in the closet. he’s a staunch ally before coming out, but he was just raised in a small town and hasn’t felt free to explore his own feelings openly.

mariana: omni. i feel like she could love any and everyone (and would look good doing it)

sherlock: demiromantic asexual. i think his romantic attraction mimics his platonic attraction, which we’ve seen develop and deepen for both John and Mariana. in my mind, he leans toward sex-indifference and favors sensual intimacy.

Being Childhood best friends with Sherlock would include

Your families being neighbours when you grew up, so you quickly become friends with Sherlock who is the same age

Quickly becoming inseparable, no matter where Sherlock goes you aren’t far off

The Holmes parents love you since you are „normal“ and „a good influence“ and even Mycroft kinda likes you

After the Euros incident your memories change too , to match Sherlocks because you deal with the trauma together

always protecting Sherlock from bullying

„ hey, listen to me. You. Are. Not. A Freak. Ok?“

after uni work makes you move away from London so you stay in touch with Sherlock mostly trough phone calls and Skype

John doesn’t know about you for a long time

He is completely freaked out when you visit one day and Sherlock HUGS YOU?!

Telling John a ton of embarrassing stories form Sherlocks childhood

John admires how you are the only one who can really handle Sherlock when he’s acting strange

You know how Sherlock’s mind works and how to help him when he’s stuck in a thought loop or freaking out

When his brain is understimulated and he’s dying of boredom you drive around in the underground together

he can deduce everything about everyone for hours which keeps his mind busy

he can only do that with you because you notice when it’s getting to much for him and then you drag him out at the next station

Always playing cluedo together

After being introduced to John you join them on cases every now and then

Oh and you are probably fucking smart… I mean you are friends with Sherlock Holmes

You are the only person he hugs

when John marries you move in with Sherlock

You comfort him when he misses John and he feels lonely, he even cries in front of you

At the wedding when he wants to leave you catch him outside and comfort him

As teenagers you took your dance classes together so naturally you dance a lot together at Johns wedding

still you two leave rather early and spend the night playing cluedo

People often mistaking you for a couple (just as with John and Sherlock)

Christmas dinners with the Holmes family
