Currently 4 episodes (out of a total of 6) into the 2016 BBC adaptation of War and Peace (because Paul Dano, Jessie Buckley and Callum Turner, that’s why) and I have a few thoughts:

Paul Dano truly makes his living out of playing characters that fly off the handle into fits of rage and/or agony, and I love that for him

Nikolai really fucked his entire family over with his gambling huh

When I say I was crying over how obvious it is that Pierre is in love with Natasha, I do mean I was straight up crying 😭

It’s the way he knew Natasha was in love with Andrei and that Andrei was in love with Natasha, so he was telling him to be with her even thought it was obvious his heart was breaking

I don’t know if I’m going crazy but it seems like Callum Turner’s character (Anatole) and his sister (Helene) have an in€est thing going on in this show??? It’s not exactly explicit but there’s something decidedly not sibling-like going on there

They keep on calling Jessie Buckley’s character (Marya) ugly and plain and abusing her and it’s like??? Hello??? Do they not have eyes?!?!

Jessie Buckley has worked with both Scamander Brothers, she literally has scenes with Callum Turner in this show, I’m-

Pierre was exhibiting king level behaviour by asking to sit with Marya at that dinner party and being the only half decent man in the room who doesn’t talk to her like shit

Also that moment where he has Anatole up against a wall and is threatening to bash his brains out… umm maybe just because it’s Paul Dano and Callum Turner but 👀 👀 👀

Honestly I’m old fashioned in this sense but men protecting the women they love even if the women don’t love them back is such a weakness of mine 😭

Natasha is really falling in love with every dude BUT Pierre at this rate 😭 what did he ever do to you, Nat??? She’s literally utterly friendzoned him (and yes I hate the idea of the friend zone, because a man being nice doesn’t entitle him to romance or sex with a girl, but still)

If this show doesn’t end with Pierre and Natasha married/in love, I’m straight up suing for emotional damage

GC Characters As Weird Architectural Choices In My School That Was Built A Longass Time Ago But Has Been Like 60% Modernized

Andrey- the fact that half the building is freezing and the other half is a sauna and you never know what's going to be what on any given day except that the history classrooms are always hot enough to cook an egg

Natasha- The Music Void. An unfinished room between the wall of the stairwell and the wall of the girls' bathroom, right across from the band room, where the band director keeps all the sheet music.

Sonya- The weird little half-wall in the art room near the back and if you go back behind there that's where all the art supplies are and it's a LOT

Marya- The fact that there isn't a fire alarm in the chemistry lab.

Anatole- The very tiny, ineffective stage filled with chairs that nobody ever uses in the gym. We have a theater for a reason, guys-

Helene- The singular gender-neutral bathroom, which is in the least convenient spot ever. It's a.k.a. the vaping/crying/sex bathroom, due to its floor-to-ceiling stalls and hardly anyone ever going in there.

Dolokhov- The windows overlooking the commons from every 2nd and 3rd floor hallway. You can watch your friends. You can watch your enemies. You can watch Evie play minecraft. Nobody will know. Well, unless they look up.

Bolkonsky- The strange and inexplicable musty bathroom in one of the history classrooms. It's just a door and a toilet and a sink. It's also slightly higher up than the rest of the ground?? There's like a 90% chance it doesn't even work tbh

Mary- The long rectangular Room of Banishment where i got sent once last year because i didn't have headphones so couldnt be on the zoom with the at-home kids if i was still in the classroom. It seems to serve no purpose except being a gigantic junk-drawer. I think there's a hello kitty microwave in there.

Balaga- The fact that you have to run like the fucking wind to get anywhere on time, because the school has 3 different floors and all the subjects are clustered together in their respective hallways. Wanna go from history to math? Down a bunch of stairs and to the opposite side of the building. You have 3 minutes. Run.

Pierre- the fucking kitchen right next to the office. Not even where they make the lunches it's just a tiny-ass kitchen with some mugs and plastic forks and a fridge

so I was just reading war and peace as you do and then me and my sister realised like all the characters all coincide so like nobody asked for this but here’s my thoughts + list:

Theo and Andrei personality traits: literally everything. Send tweet. (would take me a million years to do all the similarities)

Boris and Anatole personality traits: reckless, addicts, tempted, little bit(big bit) gay(Anatole’s like 90% gotta be bi right? or pan? Because reasons), sexy Russian accents yk, cheerful, childish, Boris would 10000% try and tie a policeman to a bear.

Pierre and Andy crossover personality traits: big nerds, awkward, sweet natured, friends with dumbass angsty people

Pippa and Natasha personality traits: Sweet, pretty, good natured, also bit angsty, love an angst man, tempted, romanticised by their angst pairs.

Lise and kitsey personality traits: married/engaged to dumb angsty men, pretty, love socialising and society
