Was thinking again about drawing Owen and Izzy together at the gay club yesterday (and how much they'd hate each other) and Randy was like okay but is Owen into older men and I bluescreened

(Owen is canonically into older men xoxoxo even if it's a one year difference)

I need to draw Izzy Hands and his controversially younger boyfriend enemy Owen Carvour SO bad.

My potentially spicy opinion about Owen and Chimera is that I sincerely doubt there was manipulation involved in making him believe the actual mission and ideals of the group, given that Owen was a government instrument who served king and country.

Like, we can call it whatever we want but the truth of the matter is that man would at the very least be a centrist (different countries=different political meanings but for simplicity's sake I'll use this).

Like. If we step back for a moment, neither Curt or Owen are "good people". They work for their countries. They have its best interest in mind, even when this conflicts a core part of their identity. They genuinely think they're doing good, they're saving the world, but what that actually means is serving the interests of their political systems. Human lives are expendable. The loss of life or the suffering of people is a lot of the time not visible to them. Do they stop to think about who suffers because of the interests they upkeep? Their successful missions? It's not just the guards one chooses to kill or not to kill. What about the common population? The poor? The immigrants? Anyone who the government each time deems unwanted? It's so easy to justify eradicating people who are "a danger to the world" when you're in that position, be it a guard or a rich fuck, or someone down the street.

Anyway, this got away from me. What I'm trying to say is Owen and Curt's job has some inherent implications. I love them to bits but sometimes it's a nice pastime to think of those implications. Anyway, Owen teaming up with Chimera willingly is one of the least surprising things to me.

(also I always have think it's funny when spy movies talk about "saving the world" and that means America or Britain lol)

Honestly to me it's like a "secret" rich person's club where people meet up and discuss ideas and such. Weekly or monthly meetings, symposiums etc. Mostly well off people that think they have the world's best interests in mind (the world = their country). People who fancy themselves saviors of the world, rich and/or powerful people who fancy themselves patrons of ideas or philosophers themselves.

Idealists among them. People who have enough money and power to make ideas happen and among them people who they trust to come up with those ideas; scientists, well standing philosophers, (ex) government instruments like Owen who are capable of handling the practicalities of their matters. Rich people on the opposition of their country's politics for the most part I would think.

It's far from surprising that they got Owen, who was so violently rattled from what he believed in- or rather, I don't think Owen's core beliefs changed, it's the means of achieving those beliefs that did. He was betrayed by the system and he wanted to change that system, but not the actual work it did. Just the way it worked.

And when you're in the middle of very powerful people, it gets into your head, you become power hungry too :)

I mean I think Owen working for his government inherently makes him the opposite of a man of the people so power was always going to be part of the equation and he'd always put the idea of country and duty above human lives but as many, he truly believes in his ideals

Shout at me what your head cannons for what CHIMERA is like and how they converted Owen pretty please!!!!!! my brain can't make up it's mind
