Hiii what's your opinion on the relationship between Ginny and Harry? Do you think Ginny is meant to represent Lily and Harry James in this relationship?

No, both Harry and Ginny are very different from Lily and James. Ginny is the representation of the super pretty girl that Rowling allows to be pretty only because she’s a tomboy and “one of the boys,” while Lily is never described that way. Instead, she’s portrayed as super pretty, and Rowling allows her to be because she’ll become the moral compass for a bunch of male characters and will also sacrifice her life for her son like the selfless mother she is. Rowling only lets women in her stories be pretty if they’re model mothers, self-sacrificing wives (Fleur only stops being treated like trash in the narrative once she proves she adores Bill above all), or if they’re “not like other girls.” But they’re two very different characters with distinct roles.

And Harry is nothing like James, starting with the fact that Harry isn’t a bully or someone who feels entitled to treat people like garbage just because he exists. So no. Plus, the dynamic is completely different.

Honestly, it’s a couple I find incredibly boring because I can’t stand her, and Harry is a character I feel indifferent about. I don’t care either way. I don’t think they’re a bad couple or anything, and I understand why they ended up together—Harry is kind of like Laurie from Little Women when it comes to the Weasleys. It feels like he wants to belong to their family at all costs (which makes sense because they practically adopted him from the beginning), and Ginny is a good option for that.

That said, the whole “one day he wakes up and after five books of not caring about her at all suddenly sees her as the most beautiful, amazing girl ever” felt super forced and unrealistic to me. On her part, Ginny feels like a very Mary Sue character. Aside from the second book, she has zero relevance and plays a minimal role in the story, and then suddenly, two books before the end, she’s the queen of Gryffindor. And she’s the queen because of traits rooted in internalized misogyny, like acting like a boy, not showing her emotions, and being “cool” by traditional masculine standards.

If you want to sell me on a character who’s suddenly going to end up with the protagonist, at least develop her properly. Don’t just assume that valid women are only those who shed their femininity to adopt the traits of traditional toxic masculinity. Not to mention that I find her violent, and what Rowling tries to pass off as “a girl with character” comes across as downright bullying every time someone says or does something she doesn’t like. And her treatment of Fleur sealed it for me because, honestly, there’s nothing more stomach-churning and repulsive to me than a bargain-bin pick-me girl trying to put another woman down out of internalized misogyny. Sorry, but I’m a girl’s girl, and shade between women drives me up the wall.

I’m not sure if Harry should have ended up with someone else—I don’t really ship him with anyone. And it’s not that Ginny is a bad match for him; I just really don’t like her, and he bores me. So I guess it’s fine if you like couples based on an obsessed fangirl and a guy who ends up with his obsessed fangirl after years of ignoring her, only to notice she exists when she gets boobs and starts acting like a dude to get male validation.

What if we were both magic prodigies and it otherized us in different ways and we devoted ourselves to protecting a family member who has general other goals & priorities. What if we both did self-sacrifical devotion in opposite ways.

By belonging to someone, even if she comes back injured or fails at finding Delgal, she feels like she belongs and is cherished, by owning someone he feels safe in them not leaving him.

She’s what’s tethering him do you see… And he’s the only thing giving her direction and purpose in her state. She needs a compass and he needs a support.

They’re both so out of it 😭 It’s the weirdly intense and unearned mutual trust and reliance on each other?? They’re each other’s weird little comfort codependent teddy bear. Or at least they were headed towards that before SHE DIED THEN HE DIED THEN THEY BOTH FORGOT ABOUT EACH OTHER AND NEVER MET EVER AGAIN. Though she’s also the guard attack hound keeping him safe… And vice versa he heals her and can rewrite her very being with just one wave of his hand. They’re both so so mentally and physically vulnerable both but they cling onto each other. They can’t perceive things accurately but despite it all someway somehow they stumble into something closer to resembling companionship just before they both die. Falin is just that kind and Thistle is just that lonely. Overworked.

We both haven’t lived for ourselves in a very long time, haven’t we.

They both have a similar devotion to the people they love but again the difference is that Thistle starts overtsepping while Falin is self-effacing. The other difference between them is that people care about Falin <3 People have given up on Thistle long ago, and he has given people reasons to, while people refuse to give up on Falin. Yaad has a mini arc about it dw about it it’s ok he’s not all alone in the end 😭😭 He reached out for Marcille’s hand but they already all wanted to help him, they just had to be given the chance to, Yaad just had to be given the chance to, it’s okay I’m okay

I decided it’s time to stop wallowing and to start taking action towards being the person i want to be— which includes being more well-rounded. Thrillers aren’t my go to because I am a big scaredy cat, BUT it’s apparently super hot and there’s George Michael on the soundtrack soooooo 💅

My theatre also has VIP service, so I will be sipping on a glass of wine while I enjoy this film.

I realised that constructing stories yourself can kind of make you less likely to enjoy other's stories when I was like 14 and we watched the Da Vinci Code at my dad's. not gonna lie I was pretty disappointed in it because I thought the concept was super cool, but I accurately predicted almost every plot twist, which was frustrating to me. lol

I said something to my dad about some plot development obviously being a red herring. he didn't know what that meant so I explained it to him.

mans looked at me and said "well, you're a writer. of course you look at stories differently."

and that fucked me up forever ♥️
